"H-hero? Please..." Bel laughed, though the sound was nervous and hollow. She certainly didn't consider herself to be a hero of any sort, but she wanted to get that out of her mind for the moment. She kept a small smile in place as the knight - now with a name! - continued. "Kyran, is it? Nice to finally, officially meet you as well." When Kyran and Einar chatted about the stronghold, she looked over in the direction of the fort, just visible from where they were. Yes, they'd have to scout it again and again in order to eventually take it. The thought chilled her, but she had been working herself up to the task. From the corner of her eye she caught Einar's expressive hands in action and was brought back to the conversation. "Strange "date" indeed. And, do you really think it's her? I'd love the chance to finally see her in action..." Bel sighed. She thought the same now as she did then, that dancers had a unique ability to motivate others, and that she'd need all she could get in the coming days. She turned away from the distant, ominous fort fully, bringing her full attention back to the boys for now, though she knew that soon enough she'd have to move with the rest of Alnard's forces in an actual attack... Daybreak, the Next Day | Fortress' Edge ...and the time had come. His Higness the Prince, though now branded a rebel, stood with his gathered forces, though reduced as they were. Belisendé was among them, astride her horse. Sunbeam stomped and snorted in place, awaiting the Prince's orders as much as Bel herself was. Though the horse was an eager animal, his rider was still, her hands clamped down tightly on the reins. She had been training with her bow, her accuracy improving and her confidence along with it, but the thought of going directly into battle - of killing another person, again, weighed her down just as much as her skill lifted her up. Her mouth was set in a grim line as she waited. I just have to do it, she thought, this is what I wanted when I left. I have to do it. I can do it. I won't let Prince Alnard down. "Attack! The Prince's voice lit a fire inside of both horse and rider, and Bel spurred her steed forward along with the rest of the group. As the fort's gate guards came clearly into view, the pink haired squire drew her bow and held it ready, taking aim at one of the axemen. Inside the walls there were surely more bandits, and she'd be sure to take care of any archers she saw, but first the way in needed to be cleared for those better suited to close quarters fighting. She pulled back an arrow, letting it fly swiftly at the man, hoping to take him down quickly in one shot.

Ooookay, the metallic being was defeated and gone was soon as it appeared. The Ace Cadet might have thought he'd imagined it if he didn't hear the scrap of the monster's claws on it's body or the thud of said body hitting the ground before it suddenly vanished. That was really weird but there wasn't exactly time to dwell on it. The Cadet grinned as the Tzitzi-Ya-Ku turned it's attention to him, flashing his teeth at the thing as it'd done to him earlier. He could hear the man from before on the other side of it yell something to someone, but he couldn't make it out. Yelling after the invisible metal person, maybe? Anyway, didn't matter. More importantly, he heard the explosive sound of what he could only assume was the loud bowgun from earlier, despite it sounding a bit different. If his suspicions from before weren't confirmed, they definitely were now - the other 'hunter' was a gunner! All the better to keep the monster's attention focused on himself, then.

The Cadet deftly countered the Tzitzi-Ya-Ku's first attack with his shield, sending it's face upward. He intended to follow up with his sword when a sharp smell suddenly hit him. It was familiar, but not in the good way the red head had been feeling before. In fact it was familiar in a distinctly bad way. He furrowed his brow. The Vale? I didn't see it earlier when I was exploring, wh--

Before the Cadet could finish his thought that perhaps something had changed, or even worse that they might have an uninvited guest on the way, he yelped out in pain as the Bird Wyvern's teeth sunk into the flesh of his right bicep, the arm holding his shield. He'd gotten distracted! Damn, and he had been working so hard at not getting distracted too. His earlier grin morphed into a grimace as he held onto the shield in his hand despite the pain in his arm. He lashed out with his sword now, aiming to slice at it's face and eyes. "Ugh," he grit out, "that was so not Ya-cool of you!"

Wow haircuts is such a great idea! I sometimes find it weird to just google specifically what I'm looking for but I'm definitely gonna keep the haircuts thing in mind, and maybe try and get over the weirdness (personally issue, ha).

Hey I've been wanting to make this thread for a while but now is as good a time as any.

Whether you prefer drawn or live FCs, do you stick to a pattern or just use whatever works? How do you go about finding them? Do you prefer to use them at all? Ever reused a FC?

In particular I've always had issues finding "live action" FCs that aren't super recognizable movie stars so I tend to stay away from RPs that use them. I would love some pointers from people that DO regularly use live FCs.

A p p e a r a n c e : Riley sports some medium length black locks that fall loosely down around their head, not quite messy but definitely not well-kept. Their facial structure is rounded and feminine, and even though his voice is soft a very perceptive listener would easily be able to notice the masculine undertones of their speech. As for bodily structure, they’re on the thinner - frailer side, although he is often clad in thick sweaters or hoodies to shroud the figure he is so insecure about. His complexion is quite fair and pasty and eyes are a vibrant forest green, though in some lights small flecks of brown could change them to a hazel. All in all, to some he would be seen as a cute boy with a somber and ghostly look - to others he could be seen as quite creepy?

Riley was adopted by a wealthy man named Aleister Velstaya, whom had years beforehand lost his wife and daughter in a car crash^{”cliche yes, but realistic”}. The wealthy widower still wished to have a family, but traumatized by the loss of his family he refused to remarry and seed another child. While Riley was greatly appreciative of such a dignified and respected man taking him under his wing, not all was as fine as one would have think. Aleister has become warped and spiteful towards the world causing him to spiral into deep depressions and lash out on the boy from time to time. The worst of these outbursts would result in Riley being forced to imitate Aleister’s deceased daughter sometimes even in public. These episodes would not let up as the man’s mental health further degraded with age, and eventually Riley would aptly adjust his lifestyle. This split the boy’s psyche at a young age forming into an altered personality with more feminine traits to better fit what Aleister wished of.

Though, his father’s antics would go too far recently - as Aleister has fully become delusional and now believed Riley has been a female all along. While Riley is about to take off to college next year, Aleister believed he should start looking for “husband” prospects soon to carry on his legacy as his only kin. Despite Riley’s constant help and monitoring, his father had even come to try pimping him out to suitors and fooling many into thinking he was just a tomboyish girl - a few even making a pass at him. Years of repressed resentment and psychological damage would reach and head, and about a month ago - Riley poisoned his father and fully inherited the Velskaya fortune. It was an act of passion, and care was taken into covering his tracks thoroughly, but the itching in the back of Riley’s head grows more and more every day as the burden of guilt grows. On the outside he seems to be fine, but the boy continues to crack at the seams.

Appearance: Ryan has short black hair that is rarely combed, and has a somewhat greasy look - like he hadn't washed in a period of time. It wouldn't be wrong to call him short, but he is not too far from average height. His choice of clothing is usually either very casual, such as baggy tracksuits, or extremely formal, like three-piece suits. Perhaps because of this, very few people realize that Ryan is fairly muscular - he's been going to the gym around 3-4 times a week for the last 4 years, at the request of his ex-girlfriend, Susan. Ryan claims he only continues out of habit, and because it makes his work easier. Ryan also has several piercings in his ears, but he takes these out whenever doing a Funeral or Viewing. He planned on getting rid of them, but a kid he watches after, Dennis, said that it made him look cool.

Relevant Info: Ryan works as a Mortician in his family Funeral Home, and has been doing so since he got his degree. He has immense respect for his Father, Wyatt Watts, who was the primary reason he even went into that career path. He's had two girlfriends in the past, but would only really be bothered by threats against the first, Susan Robinson. He has a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances due to his line of work, several of which he would sacrifice a lot for. Ryan volunteers at an Orphanage in his free time and has been planning on adopting a younger boy, Dennis Cleat. He is nervous about his chances, considering he is a single male in his mid-twenties, and threats of limiting his time with the boy would be very persuasive.

Ryan regularly eats human flesh. He has a steady supply due to his job as a Mortician and, with proper care and stitching, it's surprising how much you can take out of a person without anyone noticing. Even worse, he regularly includes human flesh into the meals he cooks for his friends and family, getting an almost euphoric pleasure out of tricking them into eating something they would never do otherwise. He occasionally steals corpses from recent funerals, which he keeps in a freezer in his basement - a secret which the King could use to great effect against Ryan.

His second Exgirlfriend nearly discovered his stash of bodies, and Ryan waited at the top of the stairs with a knife. When she came up with what she went to retrieve, he managed to convince her to leave, and he promptly broke up with her a few days later. He is nowhere near as upset by his close murder attempt as he feels he should be, but doesn't really mind too much.

Ryan only thinks about eating the flesh of the already deceased, and the thought of killing for his meals disturbs him somewhat. He may think differently if he had to go awhile without any meat, but he has never thought of eating anyone in his direct social circle.

Appearance: At first glance, Mari could easily be mistaken for a sickly boy. Traces of asian ancestry are visible within her mostly caucasian face. Her skin has an almost unhealthy lack of colour. While cut to her ears, her brown hair is dull and messy. Her eyes lack any bright colours, resembling two stones rather than romantic jewels. Large bags are under each eye, a testament to her lack of sleep. Her attire is baggy and chosen simply because it hides her body. She has two unique identifiers: the set of asymmetrical earrings she wears and tattoos of esoteric symbols on the fingers of her left hand. Horizontal scars litter her forearms, but most had since faded. Conversely, large vertical scars are visible on her palms and cutting across the old scars.

Relevant Info: Mari doesn't really have much in her life, but what she does have is irreplaceable to her. Her entire family is either estranged or deceased. The only human person she cares about is her boyfriend Sho. Together, Mari and him have a mutt named Hope. If anything happened to Hope, Mari would probably kill whatever harmed Hope and then herself. While they find themselves homeless at times, they have recently found peace and safety in a small, busted apartment. While most would hate living in such a place where everything is constantly on the verge of breaking, the three live a relatively secluded and happy life.

Mari has killed her mother. Her father had since become estranged quickly after her birth, meaning that the young Mari was raised solely by her mother. Her mother was, for lack of a better term, abusive and delusional. Mari was alienated by everyone due to the actions of her mother. When she finally formed a meaningful relationship with someone and revealed this relationship to her mother, she was beaten. Her boyfriend, trying to protect her, struck her mother over the head enough times to make her stop. As they ran, Mari had noticed that her mother was still breathing. Without anyone knowing, she had struck the final blow before she left.

Aside from the panic that engulfed him, Nathaniel felt relief washing over him. It was all short-lived, however, when he noticed the rise and fall of his brother's chest. Instead of helping his brother back up, Nathaniel went back home. He waited for his parents to come home from work. Easily told them Philip had been playing in the back but he hasn't seen him since noon (didn't matter the story since his parents would blame him anyways.) The search went on for hours until the next day break and Nathaniel barely lifted a finger to help with the search. Even when the neighbors, the firefighters and the police got involved, Nathaniel kept to himself. Come morning, Nathaniel was ready for the wave of punishment that was going to come his way as his parents entered the home with young Philip in their hands. However, what came after wasn't any yelling or recognition of his doings; instead, it was the same indifference he always received. The world continued as if Nathaniel hadn't been responsible for the incident, and remained revolved around his brother Philip. To this day Nathaniel wonders if Philip even knows that Nathaniel had been the reason for his fall.
