"Here at Second Academy for the Supernaturally Gifted, we aim to ensure that no harm comes to your child as a result of bigotry by the general public. Whereas a public school might bring about unwanted interactions with other students who do not possess a liberal mind, we at Second Academy will maintain a safe and accepting environment for all. We look forward to seeing your child at our campus."


It's not what you think, when the faculty come to personally greet you at your own home, luggage in hand and either nervous or excited to meet others like you. I should have been able to hear the strangeness in their voice; maybe I was simply too trusting, too eager to get away from those assholes at school. You step on the shuttle, and away you go, watching as your mom and dad wave goodbye with hope in their eyes. Hope for you.

I wish I kept mine.

It is 2182, far into the age in which supernaturally powered individuals came into public knowledge. For a time, they were accepted by the world, their governments, and their peoples. There were those who scorned them, and those who embraced them. Of the supers, there were the good of heart, and the bad; the heroes and the villains. These individuals commonly did battle with one another, but as the number of such characters increased, so did the troubles that arose from the deeds of villains. It became too much for the public to handle, and the freedom of vigilantes was severed after the combined efforts of super and normal man to vanquish their current enemies.

When they had appeared long before, they were given the benefit of the doubt. A chance. Today, they have been given another. A second chance.

Though unfavorable to the supers themselves, it was altogether the most desired choice by the governments of modern society. Instead of simply culling them were they could, they resolved to design a facility to maintain them, where no innocents could be put to the harms of potentially malevolent supers. And yet, the pure supers were put in with the rest all the same. This is the Second Academy for Public Dangers.

A prison with a facade, is what it truly is. Designed as a tremendous complex to observe the nature's of countless supernatural children, it works to weed out those who might present trouble to the public, eventually freeing individuals who have proved themselves to be good natured and given to the service of all.

You will be playing as one of these "students" -a child aged 18 or younger and possessed of a supernatural power, whatever it may be. Agents of the facility approach your parents with a law that dictates your requirement to enroll in the academy, which has been painted as an advanced place of education for children like you to participate safely and without worry of shame or hatred. To the public it is a good place, but to those who enter its monolithic doors, it soon becomes a prison of paranoia and despair.

Unlike your standard (no offense to anyone participating or controlling such a roleplay) super school roleplay, your actions will be the things that matter the most here in Second Academy. As GM, I will be controlling every aspect of the facility, and how it deals with each one of your characters. For now, I am merely looking for interest. With enough of it, I will jump to produce the OOC and a character skeleton for everyone.

And to that I say, "Watch yourself."

  • Super powers should be reasonable; as children you will have limited control over them.

  • I do not ask for a biography because we are assuming your characters led relatively uninteresting lives. If they did do something particularly noteworthy or the like, feel free to reveal it IC over time, or in a certain situation. Again, like superpowers, be reasonable.

=Rules=

  • Standard roleplay stuff. No godmoding, power-playing, etc, etc. Don't do it.

  • Your characters, while possessing of supernatural abilities, are nevertheless mortal and human. They can make mistakes, and they can die. Realize this, as in this roleplay no character will have plot armor. If you do something stupid that lands you in a fatal spot with no way of getting out, your character will die.

  • All of your actions have consequences, and as GM, I expect you to roleplay your character abiding by such consequences. Ignoring them or avoiding them with bullshit excuses will not result in favorable events.

Power:

Spacial Distortion

March's one and only ability is the ability to relocate inanimate objects around him. By focusing on an object, he can relocate or 'teleport' the object in a radius around him. His control over his power seems to be affected by a combination of mass and weight of the object as well as the distance. The heavier or larger the object, the more mental effort he had to expend to move it. The further it was, the more he has to concentrate. When attempting to relocate an object too far or heavy, his power simply does not activate.

Currently, March can relocate something as heavy as a motorbike as long as its within a five meter radius and for something as light as a pen, even fifty meters is possible. March's ability works by relocating the objects in the coordinates he is concentrating on. This means even without looking into a vault, he can extract its contents out. His power is also related to the atoms of an object. He cannot break apart atoms. In other words, he can relocate screws out of the door and dismantle it but he cannot relocate the 'center' of the door thus creating a hole for him to climb in.

Name: Nikki Biyung
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: Nikki is a girl that doesn't appear like the average female. Whether it's her boyish facial features, or her lack of feminine features. It can be hard to tell that she's female sometimes. But an observant eye can definitely say that she's female. Nikki appears very tomboy-ish, to the point where she's near androgynous. She has a slim build, that's slightly muscular, but won't impress anybody. She lacks that desired female figure, instead it's a straight figure that lacks curves (Flat chest and butt), and is generally masculine. While she's short in terms of height, her arms and legs are notably long, and she has large, bony fingers. Nikki is an obviously Asian girl, of specifically Korean roots. Her skin is a light-yellow color, that's not exactly perfect. Her skin isn't perfectly clear, since she has plenty of scars on her body, and her knees are pretty scared from falling over as a kid. In terms of looks, Nikki can be called pretty, but she isn't winning any beauty pageants. She does look a bit boyish, but definitely female. Nikki's head is oval shaped and very rounded, her facial features are dull and rounded too. Nikki's cheeks are very notably large and round, but smooth, blending into her face well. They are often the first thing people notice about her. She has small lips, that aren't very girly or anything like that. Nikki has a medium sized nose, that's very pointed at the tips, and her nostrils are very small, and C-shaped. Her ears are medium sized, but notable round. Nikki's forehead is very big, and often the butt of jokes. Because of her heritage Nikki's eyes are small, slanted, and a brown color. Nikki's hair is jet-black, and short. She keeps it in a high-profile style, and a bit of it brushed over the left side of her forehead.

Power: Macro-Arthropodkinesis. Nikki has the powerful ability to control Arthropods (Insects, Arachnids, etc) on a large scale. She can sense all arthropods on a large scale, tell what kind of insect they are, and at will control them to make them follow her every wish. This ability allows her to sense what they sense. This power is large scale, thus, she can control thousands of insects at a time and she can control insects from miles away from her. Nikki's degree of skill with this ability is so high that she can individually give commands to the insects.

Arthropod-Biology Manipulation. Nikki's secondary power is easily her most dangerous one. She can alter the biology of any insect within a ten foot radius. Allowing herself to completely redefine their biology to anything within reason. Make them larger, make them poisonous, etc. I am good with bugs, so I (think I) know what I'm doing. And just to clarify, she CAN'T do this a lot, so no armies of poisonous, two foot large, butterflies.

Gender: Male

Appearance: Micheal is a very tall and slim man. He possesses little body fat, not in the attractive way at all - To more of a freakish level. If he were to take off his shirt, it'd reveal that he's literally just skin and bones. He also possesses these long, thin arms and legs, with long bony fingers. It's quite creepy. He walks very slowly, and in a stiff fashion, like there's something wrong with his bones. Micheal is a Korean, and has very yellow skin. Skin without too many blemishes, scars, or birth marks. The few scars he does have are small and can easily go unnoticed. His complexion is pale, and rather unhealthy - So he doesn't good points for perfect skin. Micheal is cute, not overwhelmingly good looking, but he's easy on the eyes. Micheal's head is oval shaped and his facial features are rounded. He has a somewhat large, rounded double-chin, that sticks from his face a bit. His eyes are a brown color, fairly small, and since he's Asian, his eyes are slanted. He usually has a plaintive look in his eyes. Micheal's nose is small, narrow and shaped triangle-like, his nostrils are wider than the rest of his nose. His ears are large, narrow, round, and stick inward. Micheal's hair is a dark black color, and straight, clean, well kept. He has a Medium-straight hairstyle that's ear-length.

Personality: Lawful Neutral

    Quiet

    Does what he believes is right

    Can easily be bullied into submission

Power: Adjustable Arthropod Physiology. Where Nikki can control Arthropods, Micheal can transform into a hybrid. This part is hard as hell to describe without making it excessively long, or redundant, so I'll try to give you all an idea. Micheal can take on the traits from all arthropods, with his basic autonomy immutable. Micheal can grow the tough exoskeleton of arthropods over his skin, replace his hands with scorpion pincers, or grow limbs from any insect or arachnid out of his back. He can mix and match these combinations to create an unearthly combination of many different arthropods. It give him a wide range of uses too. Micheal also gets any special traits that he is taking on. Such as poison from a scorpion, a spider's tremor-sense, etc, etc. Micheal also possesses an ability to telepathically communicate with insects. It's no where near Nikki's level, but he can control insects to an extent.

+Chaotic Neutral/True Neutral
In the true sense of the terms. Although he tends to oscillate between true neutral and chaotic neutral behaviour from time to time, he generally acts without real regards to conventional understandings of morality. He might not condone murder, destruction of property and other typically "evil" acts, but cares very little for theft, invasions of privacy and manipulation of other people for his own ends. The way he sees it, as long as it doesn't permanently injure other people, it is perfectly fine.

+ Smart Ass
To put it kindly, Cormac isn't exactly the type of person who knows when to shut up. Cocky, overconfident and quick witted, he has a tendency to get on other people's nerve rather quickly. Although he can be serious when the situation calls for it, that doesn't exactly happen often, and even then he will generally find an opportunity to make at least one annoying quip at someone else's expense. People who take everything seriously and the scientifically illiterate are his preferred targets.

+ Hyperactive
He is essentially Wikipedia on steroids with an attention deficit disorder, minus the punctuation. "Verbal diarrhea" and "Word vomit" are two commonly used terms to describe the gigantic blocks of text he frequently spews forth on other people. He is fully aware of this distinction, but doesn't really seem to care, and is frequently quoted saying that he's "not speaking too quickly, other people are thinking too slowly".

+ Analytic
Although it might not seem as such on the surface, Cormac pays excessive amounts of attention to his surroundings, if only by sheer virtue of his power, and is able to accurately map out everything in his vicinity in his head. From the tiniest cat hair on someone's shoulder to the slight specks of mud on someone's shoe, he appears to notice even the most insignificant details, and can extrapolate enormous amounts of data from the tiniest bits of information. Which isn't to say that said extrapolations will necessarily be accurate, but they do have an uncanny tendency to be true.

+ Curious
To Cormac, the universe is just one big mystery to unravel. If something happens, there must be a reason, and if there is a reason, he will find it. Where do people's powers come from? How do they work? Can they be replicated? What is the average airspeed velocity of an unladen European swallow? Knowledge is power. It is both the how and the why, the end and the means, the tool and the objective.

+ Reckless
For someone with an IQ that cannot be accurately measured using standardised testing, he can sure get himself into phenomenally bad situations. Confident in his ability to think his way out of things and improvise, it is not uncommon for him to leap head first into easily avoidable troublesome scenarios, only to find that he may have slightly overestimated his own capabilities a few moments later. Yet another proof that cunning, intelligence and knowledge do not necessarily equate with wisdom.

+ Meme Factory

Power: Cormac is, to put it exceedingly simply, really really smart. Due to some uncanny kink in genetics, he has somehow developed with the ability to process information at several hundred times the speed of a regular human. Give him a five hundred page book and he'll finish it under half an hour. Then he'll recite it by heart... Backwards. Furthermore, in addition to eidetic memory and greatly accelerated thought processes, he is also capable of incredible feats of creativity, engineering and intuition that most normal humans wouldn't even be able to imagine, even if given an analogue length of time. Specifically, he has demonstrated a particular aptitude when it comes to the fields of robotics, programming and general engineering, and he has been known to be able to understand and improve the workings of complicated mechanical devices with incredible ease. So far, this has mostly manifested with an ability to make advanced modern technological devices with very limited resources, although it might eventually lead to him making tools several decades in advance in regards to the current technological level. Because his ability forces him to constantly function on a level of intellectual activity that most people would rarely experience in their entire lifetimes, he often overexerts his brain's capabilities and will frequently find himself suffering from massive migranes typically associated with high-level telepaths or telekinetics. Loss of sleep, fever, hyperactivity, obsessive behavior and difficulty concentrating on mundane tasks are also frequent side effects. His body also naturally has greatly enhanced energetic requirements, and must consume nearly five time the amount of carbohydrates the average human requires. In short, he is basically a realistic technopath.

Appearance: Rhys is tall and just slightly above average weight. He has blonde hair and a red face. He usually wears something simple and bland, be it a t-shirt or hoodie.
Personality:

*Curious: Rhys will use his powers to know everything there is to know about the academy. He also can be described as a bit of a snoop.

*Cowardly: Rhys will go to great effort to not make any waves in the academy unless he is forced to. He's scared of what they've already done to his life. He is afraid of death, which he sees as the reasonable next step for what the academy will do to them.

*Ambitious: At the same time, Rhys constantly dreams of getting out. He uses his power to look for weaknesses in the academy and fantasizes about escaping in the night and starting a new life.

*Kind: Rhys values being kind to everyone, and not taking anyone at face value.

*Relaxed: Rhys doesn't get upset easily, and he's almost never mad.

Power: Astral Projection: Rhys can enter a meditative state where his spirit enters into the physical plane free of his body. Invisible to everyone, Rhys can go anywhere within around a mile or two of his body. His spirit has a very limited ability to interact with the world around him when in the Astral Plane: he can pick up and move objects and whisper in people's ears.

When Rhys gets stronger, he will find that his abilities will grow more powerful. He will be able to go anywhere on the Astral Plane, not restricted to his body. When he is powerful enough, Rhys will be able to enter into other bodies and possess them.

Certain symptoms, yes, although I'd mainly associate it with immaturity. Most people, when growing up, don't usually have 200 IQ points higher than their local authority figures, which tends to make discipline somewhat easier. I'd liken him more to an internet troll than an actual sociopath, however.

Actually I was focusing more on his lack of empathy for others. The three defining characteristics of a sociopath are: lack of empathy, intelligence, and a high opinion of themselves. He has two of the three traits. Jus thought it was interesting to note.

*Skeptical: Tends to ask more questions than most people. Keeps a critical mind about her.

*Dark Sense of Humor: "Dead baby jokes are my favorite!"

*Soft Speaker: While not exactly the quiet type, Kalk only speaks when spoken to or when she feels the need to really question something. Even when she does speak, she will barely open her disfigured mouth.

*Friendly: Despite the obstacles, Kalk tries to remain friendly towards people.

*Fearless with a death wish: In the sense that she doesn't care that much about her own life that she rarely is ever scared of anything threatening. Not to a sucidal sense mind you.

*Exhausted sadness: There always seems to be a depressing air around her, just barley noticeable to people who meet her.

Power:
Matter Control-
This power allows her to control how fast molecules are moving in most substances. In simpler terms, she can heat something up to a point where it will melt, or suddenly freeze it. She has to be touching the surface of the object and she can only effect an area of 2 feet in diameter. So be careful when you shake her hand, cause she might just freeze it off.... or melt it.... whichever one she is in the mood for.
