Many reviews equals large post....Hiders for convenience.

I understand about the history. I am just typing it up in word at the moment and should have a more detailed one soon. I shall edit C-Sec details to show only a number of divisions instead.

Huh, never really looked until now, but sandman, your sheet is eerily familiar to mine, including the formatting.

I noticed that midway through the process of making the damned thing. I didn't read yours until I got to the relations part, then SURPRISE! You did it too. I just said screw it and went about my business.

I don't know, seems kind of too good to be a coincidence that we both came to the same idea of an illegal medical research group that has specialization in genetic augmentation and basic medical supplies based on Noveria that purchases slaves and abducts people to run tests on and contacts with one of the "big three" merc companies, and a sheet complete with nearly identical formatting, including a company slogan at the top of the sheet in the same manner I did.

We'll see what the GM says. I'm not really a fan of having my ideas ripped off.

I didn't plagiarize you, but if it makes you feel better I can change it completely.

What matters, Rare, is that you gave it a shot before coming to me. I shall take a look at your present history and see what I can come up with shortly.

But first.

Sandman.
I cannot avoid saying that I had planned (before reading the latest on the page) to state that your organisation gives off a definite vibe of 'Halios but bigger.'

In the interests of impartiality however, I will do a full breakdown of my observations.
Firstly, what makes me believe you used Dervs sheet as a template, is the fact that in exactly the same place, you included a short quote about your companies ideal, where no other sheets have done so and it is not part of the sheet template as outlayed by myself. Many of the underlying concepts are also quite similar, only upsized, thus the vibe of 'Halios but bigger.'

On the other hand.

You expressed well before submitting the sheet proper that you wanted to heavily imply work on the basis of Project Lazarus, and in the pursuit of that idea, the similarities in research field - medical and cybernetic - as well as the inclusion of human testing, are justified in pursuit of this goal.

Let me first explain the idea of using accepted sheets as templates before I make a ruling. This is fine. I often look through at accepted sheets, especially those similar to mine, for what the GM wants, and if its in a layout and format that I like, I will often copy this layout and format for my own sheet. One could even say that this process is a very good thing in sheet building, as basing your presentation off an accepted one is a good way to get your own sheet accepted. The key thing to do when doing this, is to avoid copying the actual idea.

In this particular case, my ruling is that while the sheet is most likely templated off of Dervish, the idea is in fact original. It is however, unfortunately very similar to the idea behind Halios in its execution.

With that ruling known, the course of action is thus: In the interests of avoiding two incredibly similar organisations, Elysium Research Technologies should shift focus to its arms research (or another area entirely if that is preffered). All other aspects may remain the same (pending further unrelated criticism of course).

Totally fine with that ruling. I don't want sandman to have to change everything and stray from what he originally intended, just back off my toes a bit.

Thinking of possibly making a sheet (if you're still accepting), but I'm having some serious trouble coming up with a cool name. Names always stump me.

EDIT: I guess I'll ask this so I can work on assets while I think of a good name for the faction: What are the rules on possibly owning some kind of small, stealth ship (or a few)? I wouldn't pretend they're the most advanced stealth ships in the galaxy, and they'd be small fast-attack/reconnaissance ships, not carriers. I just want to make sure that's fine and affordable. I apologize in advance if the OP says something regarding this. I did read it, but I'm also a bit sleep-deprived, so I may have missed it.

Ohai Pepperm1nts.

I'm happy for you to submit a sheet that doesn't get named until everything else is done. Hell I do it all the time.

As to stealth vessels, the simple answer would be no. Despite how long the Salarians have been at it, even they didn't invent steath craft until Normandy came along. In Novacannon, the Turian frigate Tyrus is a prototype stealth ship of a sort, but suffice to say, what very few stealth prototype ships exist are held onto very tightly by their respective governments.

As a side note, Corvettes are allowed, though they aren't hugely useful in combat, and making vessels that have stealth capability in atmosphere is perfectly feasible (and probably applies to all Salarian military craft everywhere....) but space stealth is a definite no.

Ah, okay. I was under the impression that stealth spacecraft weren't so rare. And yeah, a corvette is more or less what I'd be using. Is a corvette (or other small, fast-attack ships) with stealth capabilities while in atmosphere okay, then? That's honestly what I need, anyway. I don't really care much for space stealth.

Well its basically dependant on detection method. In space ships are detected largely by their heat signature, which is incredibly hard to get rid of.

In atmosphere though, atmospheric temperature is far easier to blend in with, so I believe Radar and to a lesser extent Ladar are the primary methods, though details on this are few. People can still always detect you by just looking at you though, as not even the Geth have implented active camo on a ship scale, and they are definitely the most advanced in that area.
There has been far more interest in this than I anticipated, and in the interests of my own sanity, I am going to place a limit on the upwards number of organisations. That number is ten (including myself). If you are already accepted, do not worry. If you are not already accepted, you have a week to get your sheets finished up and ready for me to select from.

At that time, I will select the four best sheets to be accepted. No-one loose hope however, as those who are not selected but still have good sheets will be kept on a list for me to contact when others drop out (and there are always a few. RL hates us all after all.).

During this time, I'll still be providing feedback and such as normal, just know that there is now a time limit.

I just realised I didn't actually answer your question in all that Pepperm1nts. You may have corvettes, you may also have frigates and fighters, though numbers depend on what kind of organisation you're going for. I'd say that Corvettes and fighters could both have in atmosphere stealth capabilities, although given how much of this will be taking place in space, I'm not too sure how useful they'll be. Thats no reason not to have them though, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Alright, here's my first sheet draft. Obviously all-around pointers would be appreciated, but the one thing I kind of want some tips on is assets. I kept my assets list very, very small because I'm not sure what is too much. I want the faction to be small and contained, relaying more on very skilled operatives and fast-hitting attacks than numbers and lots of tanks. But at the same time, I don't want it to be super tiny.

Oh, and suggest a name :P

My first thought upon looking at your sheet:

Salarian goodness!

- Nice to see a bit more racial diversity in leaders.
I'm not so great with names myself, but i'll give it a shot. Adding this to the list of reviews to do.
I've been working on back-end stuff and the first IC post today folks, which is why the reviews have been tardy in their speed. Your patience has brought us closer to final launch however.
