Well, here you go.
Well, here you go.
Username: Zero Hex
Character nickname: Ajax
Gender: Male
Appearance:
A lightly tanned, olive skinned man with a prominent jaw and chin as well as dark brown eyes and a mess of shoulder-length black hair that he keeps slicked back. Standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing in at around 220 pounds of muscle spread throughout his whole frame, Ajax is built much like a well cut heavyweight boxing champion. Though his rough features still make him a far cry from the ideal clean-faced pretty boy, he shows no signs of standard fistfighter damage such as a squashed nose, sunken eyes, torn lips or cauliflower ears.
Clothing-wise, he always wears tough black biker boots, white motorcycle pants and a black tank top. Over this ensemble he dons a white leather vest with
a large patch on the back representing his old gang, sporting the words “Road Ravens” in black over it and “Born to be free” underneath. For accessories, he wears
a white do-rag with black stars to keep his hair in check, pair of
simple goggles for bike riding, a black leather belt with a large gold oval buckle that reads “KING” in the middle and some worn out, old black hand wraps.
Should an appropriate occasion ever arise, Ajax can also change into a secondary outfit made up of boxing gear. Here his hair is tied into a neat ponytail, his clothes are replaced by a pair of white boxing trunks with a black waistband and the Road Ravens’ insignia on both legs, his black biker boots changed for white boxing ones with black laces and his old black handwraps are swapped out for new, clean white ones.
Alignment: Protagonist
Character theme:
Black Star by Yngwie MalmsteenSkills before: Martial arts enthusiast (boxing in particular), knowledge of medieval arms and armor, vast knowledge of useless trivia about giant robots, the ability to google rather than ask inane questions, several years’ experience playing soccer and rugby, fluent in spanish.
Skills after:
-Godlike fistfighter: In the endless expanse of the multiverse, if there’s a superior fistfighter to Ajax you’d be hard pressed to find him/her/it, and his skill in this field is so great he could have a good claim at being the greatest unarmed fighter as well. Through a combination of arduous training, natural talent and constant battles Ajax has developed into what some might call the perfect boxer, a prizefighter who embodies both the unrestrained savagery of bareknuckle contests and the cool, calculating technical aspects of the sweet science and blends them into a unified whole that can stand up to any threat across worlds, armed, monstrous or otherwise when coupled with his superhuman physicality.
Though still limited in scope compared to other martial arts, focusing almost entirely on punching and lacking in things such as beams of energy, Ajax's footwork, defense, reflexes, coordination and instincts are all on a league of their own. Ajax is not just capable of pure brute strength but can also manage shockingly swift and smooth motions, enough to do things like dodge attacks from all directions by rapidly moving as little as possible then returning to his previous position, creating the illusion of a complete lack of movement to an untrained observer, or close in on an opponent when it looks like he hasn't been moving at all. And his punching technique is beyond even this.
Snapping, machinegun-like jabs with no tells or prior motions that cause a whip-like crack and appear to normal humans as a wall of fists that can repel even an onslaught of automatic fire, straights that can collapse fortified positions with ease when thrown with his full body weight behind them or lightning fast, pinpoint blows that can be used to exploit holes in enemy's defenses to the fullest, explosive hooks akin to monstrous sledgehammers and uppercuts capable of knocking heads clean off, these are only the basics of his style. Furthermore, Ajax can throw effective punches from nearly any position or situation so long as he can move his arms even an inch, though obviously the more freedom of movement the stronger the strike.
-Better on a bike than you: Exactly what it sounds like.
Powers:
-Superhuman physicality: Rather than manifest any flashy abilities, Ajax is a true monster from a physical standpoint. While his agility isn’t much to speak of for the current setting beyond his impressive footwork and defensive techniques, his strength, resilience and stamina are all overwhelming. He is strong enough to easily tear fortified positions asunder and put his fists through a dragon's scales and bones both, while even highly advanced weaponry or powerful magical assaults such as gouts of sorcerous flame and bolts of eldritch lightning seem to inflict little to no damage when they clash against this titanic man. His endurance not only allows him to continue fighting at full steam for potentially days on end with no ill effects and readily overcome assaults that do actually injure him, but also render him extremely resilient towards poisons, narcotics and the like.
Though not particularly agile for the multiverse, he is still above even highly trained athletes in this area, it is simply not as strong a point of his compared to his strength and toughness as he is not much of an acrobat. Since his inhuman strength also applies to his legs, however, he can perform powerful leaps and bounds both short and long where he seems to explode towards any given direction, cracking pavement from the pressure of his feet, while his full sprint could potentially pass for a low level of superspeed. All of this combined with his martial arts mastery mean he is an amazingly dangerous enemy despite not employing any weapons or sorcery.
-Mind of Steel: An ability (some would say concept) wherein the user completely empties his mind, achieving a state where they can read the flow of battle with ease and completely hide their intent from the enemy as well as push their own abilities to the utmost capacity. In theory, a warrior who achieves this state of perfect nothingness becomes truly invincible, able to control the flow of a battle to the point where the only defense would be achieving the same state. Of course, this is all theoretical. In practice, no one has been able to come close to this ideal and Ajax is no exception.
Striving for such a transcendent skill, however, grants martial artists a number of benefits, chief among them being a mind that resembles an impenetrable fortress, immune to outside manipulations such as psionic irruptions or mind altering effects. Other benefits include a certain difficulty in reading the warrior's body language and something of a sixth sense derived from their accumulated fighting experience, a "third eye" which allows them to more readily sense danger and deception, particularly things such as illusions or other mind-altering effects.
-This strength of mine: Ajax is proud of himself. Proud of his strength, of the primitive, primal power it represents over power acquired through means such as money or influence. So much so, in fact, that he can test his strength in direct contest with things that should be unaffected by mere muscle. His fists can be used to inflict damage on things that would not take damage from mere brute force for whatever reason, while things such as tractor beams, ZPM fields, hold spells and the like must all face up to his might or simply cease working on him, bested by his power. Of course, direct application is always superior in the case of the latter, but it still allows him to use his best asset on things he should not be able to.
-Kid gloves: The rather spectacular ability to not kill things and break stuff despite being about as strong as a roid raging Hulk. Ajax can control himself to such a degree that even his deadly punches will not kill unless it’s otherwise noted that he’s going for killing blows. It’s just not fun if you’re always stomping everyone and you can’t even have a rematch because you spattered the other guy’s brains all over the wall.
Equipment:
-Pockets of holding: Ajax’s vest has a pair of breast pockets in the front. Logic dictates they shouldn’t hold much and whatever gets stored in them will be at risk of getting destroyed. These pockets, however, follow game rules. They can store far more stuff than they should and objects placed in them are completely fine through thick and thin.
-Cigarette case lighter: What kind of character inspired on gang flicks and japanese delinquent manga doesn’t smoke?
A neat little gadget that serves as an all-in-one smoker kit, it seems to hold an endless supply of cigarettes and lighter fluid, though it can only produce 10 smokes at a time. Kept stored in the vest pockets.
-Flask: Drinking is kind of a must as well for this sort of character, right? What kind of a manly man can’t hold his booze? A smooth silver flask that contains a decent amount of strong rum, of the flammable kind. Though it only holds enough content for a few swigs, it self refills after a while.
Other:
Ajax started out as a pen and paper character, a Fighter (that is, of the Fighter class) who I narrated as using pankration (an ancient greek martial art that resembled modern MMA). Though he had good stats and whatnot, sheer luck in dice rolls across the campaign meant that he never came under any serious risk and more or less punched his way through all opposition without much trouble. Eventually he became a sort of joke amidst my group, who started calling him a god of fighting. The group's GM even used the same character as an NPC in completely unrelated games on occasion, and he still never seemed to roll badly, turning him into a legend. Rather than stick to the taciturn ancient greek fighter that Ajax really was, I decided to change things around and took inspiration from gang movies (The Warriors in particular), glorified biker culture, heavy metal music and martial arts and delinquent manga to make this current version.
