Ashley's face was instantly sad. "I was there with my family but....they were in the city when the outbreak happened. They...never came home." She said putting her baseball bat down. "Its been just me and my horses to help with the plowing to avoid using gas." She said with a shrug. "I have always been self sufficient." She said with a smirk as she watched Hunter. He was coming around.

Hunter felt a bit guilty about asking about other people now. "I'm sorry for your loss. I am still not sure what happened to my own sister, I waited for weeks for her to come home." He sigh, but he had to get his head together, they were in a situation. "So you are just taking in anyone you find? isn't that a bit dangerous? I mean, Now we have gun shots going off, and I am not sure about you but I don't think we are in a decent situation to fight back here." He peeked out the window. "So unless we know these people... or person is friendly, we may still be in a bad situation.

Ashley looked out the door hearing all the q5 ts. "From how it sounds, it might be someone killing walkers." She said hearing them from a near by apartment. "We should go see if they need help." She said as she tied her bat to her side. She pulled up her AR-15 out before she passed the doors.

Movement! Someone is coming out of the store. Thats bad, anything could happen with them. They could have a RPG and take him down, tehy arnt in trouble. The doors are only silightly open, not enough to provoke suspician. Lining the sights up above the door he fired, the bullet hit the frame throwing splinters everywhere

Ella put the can of pineapples on the floor, leaning her head against the window frame. She closed her eyes and hummed silently. She had always liked silence, the stillness. There wasn't much of that left these days. Suddenly the sound of several gunshots reached Ella's ears, and she scrambled to her feet.

Ella stood quietly in the apartment for a moment, listening. The gunfire had died out, but it had been replaced by the rattle of the fire escape and the groans of dead people.

"Shit" Ella exhaled and hurried over to the window and slid it shut. She just had time to huddle up beneath it when the first walkers stumbled past it.

Ella scanned the room. Her rifle was lying next to her backpack on the kitchen table across the room.
"Shit" Ella said again. She kept her eyes on the window as she slowly crawled over to the table and pulled down her rifle and backpack. Then she waited for a moment, with her rifle pointed the window, before she continued crawling towards the door. Just as she opened it, she heard the window break behind her. Quickly Ella turned around and fired twice before hurrying out the door and closed it behind her.

Dust splashed across the room as three shots slammed into the apartment wall. They weren't warning shots, they came from the same direction as his saviour, what was he shooting at? Looking out the window the figure had gone, as the fire-escape had, and no zombies were in sight. Although Isaac did hear some movement below him still.

Walking over to the bullet holes he turned 180 and confirmed, it was the same shooter. Stepping on the bullet tips Isaac stepped aside and bending down to one knee, picked them up.

A message.

It seemed he had friends after all.

Republic Firearms,

As William Taggart finally settled on a good infra-red (night vision) scope, he took the scope and rifle inside, pulled out a laser-boresight unit, and proceeded to replace his old Bushnell-scope. When just as suddenly he heard a noise overhead... a plane, the horse gave a few short noises, a bit frustrated that something was irritating its hasty sleep amidst a pile of disused T-shirts and other store-merchandise.

Peeking from a window with a pair of binoculars, he laboriously scanned the sky until he found the source of noise, a drone of some sort.

He kept note of it, as he continued to work unnoticed by his new mechanical visitor; soon, it would go away. Hopefully it would not bring a horde upon them.

With this, he resolved that he must check-out the airfield, tonight; making himself ready to go out there on foot.

He would leave his greatcoat behind, and took only his Mosin (incl. bayonet), helmet, spotting-scope (no tripod), and utility belt of ammunition. He re-dressed the T-shirts he repurposed into socks and placed the package into his shoes before wrapping similarly improvised puttees around his ankles to keep his legs dry and free of cuts or crawler-bites.

The 300 yard trek, much like the previous one, felt very claustrophobic in the dark; going more by sense of sound and touch than by his limited vision, much preferring not to rely on the newly-acquired technology unless he had to, as the scope was mounted to a rather ungainly full-length Mosin 91/30.

Finally he came to a pond, and knew the strip lay due-south of him as he checked the northern-sky for Polaris and the little-dipper. With his bearings secured, he bent low and began to stalk the airfield like it were a wild animal, ready to flee...

After about 200 paces, the trees thinned into scrubbery, the tarmac was in view, and the scrub continued for about 100 more paces along his right. Here, he also encountered a primitive fence; a new addition with dead walkers piled upon its entire length. A defense-perimeter.

Drawing his spotting-scope, he tried desperately to see what was happening be the control-tower. But to no avail... then he took out his rifle, and set it to passive... and the scope lit-up... indicating a plethora of IR-searchlights... Tracing them back, he could also see surveillance-radars and the fumes of a well-muffled generator. He turned off the scope and laid still for a bit, occasionally peering through the spotting-scope until he could see the doorway of an RV parked in the field open to briefly reveal its illuminated contents. A woman was being dragged out of it, he could not tell what was happening, but eventually he heard a shot... and then she went limp.

Now he knew he had to leave. These people had power, of almost every definition, and all of it was getting to their heads. If the drone was theirs, then they knew of the gun-store. If they had raided it already, they knew it had tools and plenty of easily finished firearms; if they had not already looted the place, they were going to ransack it for all its worth.

Carefuly, but with little time to lose, he backed into the treeline on his stomach until he felt comfortably far enough away to safely stand without betraying his presence. He then made back for the rails at a dead-sprint... but was suddenly confronted by a walker that had been stalking him. With little time to think, he clubbed it in the jawline and floored it to the mud with a pile-drive of the rifle-butt before turning his gun over and plunging the fifteen-inch bayonet through its rotten skull and giving it a good swirl to make mush of the insides before pulling-out and moving-on.

He reached the relative safety of the gunshop pretty easily afterwards, and gathered anything useful-looking into the carriage as his newfound equine companion whinnied as-though questioning what was the matter with him. William responded by beckoning the horse to stand and be hitched to the trailer. All the while trying his best not to show fear or panic.

They were just going-out for a midnight-stroll.

@ everyone, feel free to tell me to run into some random problems along the way.

When she heard the shot she instantly held up her hands with out grabbing for anything. "Friendly!! Please dont shoot!" She called out not wanting to mess with anyone. "We wont shot you! I will drop my weapons if you want. Just please save the bullets for the walkers." She said hearing some getting closer and closer to them. They were coming from a nearby building with someone sounding like they are in trouble.

Karen moved the Humvee from concealment and drove along the most open streets that she could find. Cleveland was and odd city compared to others she'd visited first of all was the lack of abandoned cars in it's interior streets then was it's limited number of walkers. Karen couldn't help but conjure up the description; Ghost Town and all that Was missing to complete the look were the tumble weeds. She pondered these questions and feelings as she drove through the streets. She was alone, so alone that it hurt when she thought about it.

She followed the course of the river to limit at least one side of the vehicle to possible fire. The docks were clear of abandoned vehicles as well as barges, tugs and the ships that cruised Lake Erie which showed that at least here there had been a somewhat orderly evacuation.

Just ahead she spotted one of those Construction Lights that could illuminate a stadium and on it's side it said "Powered by Cummings" that she'd learned meant a diesel engine. So she stopped beside it and stepped out of her ambulance an checked the fuel gage; it said 3/4s full. Karen nearly let out a whoop of joy but decided better to wait till she had the precious fuel.

Looking around she didn't like the area because it gave concealment to walkers and possible raiders so she came to the conclusion it would be easier to take the whole thing. She jumped into the seat of her Humvee and aligned the tail hook with the trailer's ring hitch and backed up to it then climbed out twice to check alignment and height then mate the two together once trailer and vehicle were one she cranked the jack up and then lowered the 4 huge lights and mast into traveling position.

"This could actually prove a greater godsend than fuel" she thought as she secured the mast like the instructions said. The trailer was also serve as a .portable generator with a 12 kw output.

Hunter ran to the door way and tackled Ashley. He then got up and leaned against the wall. "Sorry about that, But warning shots are a bit... Iffy nowadays." He offered a hand to help her up. "Nothin' personal, Just didn't want the first friendly person I have seen in months get shot."

The sniper rolled his eyes and looked the scope again. He had his short mag in (4 rounds). Sighting it on the mans feet he fired, he wasnt aiming to hit the man, nor even touch him. Instead he hit the ground around him, this threw dust everwhere. "If I wanted you dead they would be in the street."

She was caught off guard when she was pulled to the ground by Hunter unable to hide the deep blush on her face. "No worries." She said as she heard the other shot going off. "If we stay here the walkers will come." She said looking around starting to hear the growls of the undead getting closer but still far off. "Damn it! This would by my luck." She said looking over at her bike. "My Can-Am is right over there. If we can get to it, we can avoid the rotters." She said showing Hunter.

Isaac knew that zombies dont run, well, not like humans do. And so the hastened footsteps he heard below him (as well as the two gunshots) suggested someone was in the building with him. Wasting no time, Isaac grabbed his rucksack and stuffed all his food into the bottom, his spare clothes and towel etc going ontop. Popping two water bottles in the straps on the outside and all the candy and sweets he could into the front zipped-pocket - he grabbed his rifle and slung it over his shoulder. Taking his falchion from the ground, he stuck a lolly in his mouth and proceeded to heave the heavy furniture and items he had stacked against his door. The only way out now was down through the heart of the building.

When the door was finally clear he hesitantly turned the handle and pushed it ever so slightly open, waiting for something to happen for what felt like minutes but was in fact only seconds, Isaac finally snuck his head out and looked around. All clear, a few bodies around, but no walkers.

Stepping out he made his way towards the staircase, luckily it wasn't open plan and you had to walk through a door from the staircase for each level. Opening the door he peered into the dark silence, stepping through he closed the door behind him. Making his way down the concrete stairs he got two floors down when he reached a blockade of some kind, chairs, tables, cabinets all piled up against a door.

He heard the footsteps on the other side.

Human footsteps.

Hunter looked at the vehicle. "Hmm, How fast are you at running?" Avoiding the dead would be easy if done right, but who ever was shooting off that rifle may be harder to avoid. Though speed wouldn't be enough, if they were getting shot at they would have to throw off the shooters shot.

Hunter crouched his way back to the doorway. "We can't both go at once, if we do there is a better chance of us getting shot." His National Guard training was kicking in again. "One of us will have to go, Running at changing speeds of motion in a zigzag form. That should throw off the shooter enough to avoid getting shot." He judged the distance of the vehicle. "After about 5 seconds the second runner will do the same thing. Only on less of an interval."

There ploting, thats not good. Thats never good. If they dont fire back they clearly dont pose a threat, or they havent seen me. Ill wait them out, no matter what happens they both came in vehcals and so they will leave with them. Now I just have to wait, if they try and do a 'Front' and move then I wont do anything. Make them think im gone, if they zig zag same thing. Ill make hem think I gave up.

Ashley looked back at Hunter. "Yeah I understand. I will go first." She said looking up to try to find the shooter leaning up against a flipped car to see if she could see where it was coming from. She looked back at Hunter. "Are you ready?" She said just in case he would have to lay down some covering fire. She doubt that would need to happen. But everything can chance in the matter of one second in a zombie filled world.

Hunter sighed, he knew going first when dealing with a sniper was risky, then again so was going last. "Fine, but I am going to need to borrow your rifle, I am not going to be able to cover you with an effective range of about 12 feet." Hunter hinting at the short shotgun. He had a hunting rifle at one point, but it ran out of ammo long ago.

Ashely handed him her AR-15. "Be careful not to get it jammed." She said handing it to him. "The auto-fire option is broken when I fell off my horse a few days ago." She said holding it out until he got a good grip onto the gun. "Give me a count down for when you are ready." She said crouching down to get ready to take off running if she had to.

Ella checked how many bullets she had left in her mag as she made her way down the badly lit corridor. She had a few rounds left and another mag inside her jacket, but other than that; she had left the rest of her ammo and her M11 in the car. A decision she wasn't so proud of anymore. Not only that, she had used one of the fire escapes to get into the building earlier, and that was no longer an opinion.

With her rifle pointed towards the floor, her eyes scanned the walls after a sign, which could leader her to the stairs and out of the building. She threw a glance over her shoulder, she could her the banging on the door she exited a moment ago. The pounding matched the beating of her heart inside her chest. She could handle zombies, but she would prefer not having to deal with them when she was stuck in a hallway and had no idea how many there might be.

To her relief Ella spotted a sign illustrating stairs. She rushed over to the door, placed her hand on the handle and pushed... Nothing.
"Shit." Ella cursed. "It says push for god's sake" She added.
Ella tried again, pressing her whole weight against to door in an attempt to open it. Still nothing.

The next moment, a door down the hallway flew open and three zombies stumbled out of the apartment at the same time. Ella spun around and fired three shots. One dead, one wounded, one miss. She fired again. Two down, four to do. Five to go. Six.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me."
Ella pulled the trigger. Click. She swore under the breath, letting the empty mag fall to the floor before replacing it with a new one. She needed to get through that door, and very soon.
