Ok to be honest, at some point, I would have brought the header issue much like Sho because seriously it annoys me when others post in the IC and cannot put a simple header of their character, team, and location. It does not take long to type it out and bold and add some color to make it distinct. I do it fit is easy and convenient for other players to see with player posted. Also having a simple header with your character name and team would help players remember character name and their teams.

But the main reasoning is that not all of the players are the few of you who "don't need to use headers". It'll be helpful for when we get newcomers, and it makes the IC look neat and easier to follow and find posts relevant to yours, rather than making your own little circle of friends within the RP by just remembering whose post to look for.

You had a problem. You could not figure out where characters were- people gave you multiple solutions. You could skim, look at the doc, or ask in OOC. But you only wished for your solution to be pushed forward, the one that was most convenient for you, despite what you want to say on the matter. Because you clearly ignored or ridiculed anyone that attempted to say otherwise. Is compromise so dirty?

I'm sorry but some of us would prefer to use those few moments of clicking and scrolling to do something more fun.

And this pisses me off. You have basically told us our posts are so boring you can not even bother to skim/communicate with us/go to doc because you'd rather go on imgur. An RP is not something you go in purely for yourself imo, reading others posts is part of the fun, but I guess you have a different view of that.

I'd imagine that's a role play site where there isn't a separate thread for IC and OOC traffic so that used to differentiate when your posting IC and when you're talking to the other roleplayers.

In traditional roleplaying like Dungeons & Dragons, this is pretty much mandatory. Even if you think the other person's idea is gullible or stupid, I prefer not looking like I'm gullible or stupid by not missing out the actions and traits of characters displayed in the D&D, even if it's not something related to me. The "this isn't D&D, though" argument was commonly brought up whenever I shared this kind of thing, but roleplaying really isn't the most delightful thing for someone if he or she ignores over half of the surroundings of the world they're in. You might as well write fanfiction if you want to make everything about the world so that it relates to yourself.

I do agree that headers should be used as long as it does not interfere with your writing style, but I also agree that a clear effort in reading others' posts is a rule that has been set even before Pre-Guild Fall RPG was formed.

I understand if you're reading posts and still not getting location, but he just flat out said he wasn't reading nor even skimming. That is my main problem there. I think he has no right to complain when he is not even putting effort into the rp. If he wants to go on imgur fine, but why complain about how we're wasting his time. If he doesn't properly schedule time for rp that's his fault, not ours.

As for location, yes, sometimes without a header it can get confusing. But generally through context clues you can figure out where someone is, or you simply find out who they are interacting with in the post they have made, and generally one of the two will have mentioned where they are.

I am fine clarifying for others, which is why I will start using headers myself; however, but I find it aggravating someone who will not even SKIM let alone read posts wants headers. I agree wholeheartedly with NarayanK, you should be reading or at the very least skimming posts. It's how you interact in a world that is not singularly yours, but a world shared by multiple people. You learn relationship dynamics between others, their personalities, I could go on. It's part of the rp experience I have always enjoyed.

Again, if people don't want headers, it's fine. If you don't prefer using them, by all means, ignore them. You can write setting and who you're interacting with, or perhaps have the character think/talk about what class he/she is in. More of an incentive to actually read posts too.

Incorrect, actually. There are separate threads, but brief OOC information is occasionally relayed in the same post as IC information, thus necessitating the distinction. And he's completely correct; the vast majority of people there don't use headers whatsoever, and the primary game there is significantly larger than this one. And there are even fewer issues.

Bottom line, I completely agree with Nytem. I'll use a header that denotes what character I'm posting for, and other information I deem relevant, but I'm not going to go out of my way to make it painfully clear where the character I am writing for is, and who he is interacting with. Stating such in text, and stating such in a header, is exceedingly clunky. I will happily make it clear who I'm posting for in that header, because that is a perfectly reasonable request.

Spelling all information out in a header just because someone doesn't want to even skim posts isn't reasonable.

I mentioned imgur as a joke, though admittedly I probably should not have given the context and tone. In all seriousness I would prefer to use the time to draw or write things up for my own RP. With that addressed, I'd like to break down your argument against mine, and everyone else's.

You deny the use of headers simply because there are other solutions that can be used, with no basis other than that they are there. It's almost like trying to argue fossil fuels over green energy for sustainable energy. I presented a solution that would save all of us loads of time and you have yet to properly break that. Please, tell me how and why everyone having a header takes longer than having to skim through every post and/or posting in OOC and waiting for the related person to respond? Rather than if everyone just needed to see a single line at the top of everyone's post to get an idea of everyone's location and what is generally happening?

You then use a more personal reason as in me "browsing imgur", blaming me on being lazy, and so on, as to why we shouldn't use headers. This adds nothing to the argument whatsoever, so I will kindly ignore it from now on.

Next, literally everyone who has argued against it has used only anecdotal evidence to support it, which on no logical or objective grounds is reliable.

These three reasons are the main reason why I am still going on about this now.

If we're going to be civil, use more objective reasons and maybe something with more substance than "laziness" and personal remarks? The conference doc is great, but the half minute you use to open it up and browse it, even less than half of that could be easily used to type the header up. There's also no guarantee everyone has very fast internet, so opening up the document could take longer than a minute for some.

And final note. I am not asking for everyone to make it "painfully clear" as to where their character is.

Just a simple "Armoury Class | <character name>" is literally enough. Just their location name and character name (we're going to need to do the character name, especially since players are now starting to have more than 1 character).
