Would a power similar to lightning be a good extreme? (Sorry if this is taking a while)
Also, a question about the bestial powers - is it possible to have minor permanent attributes of the animal and also turn into a few types of the animal?
1. A lightning bolt contains a lot of powerrrrr. Though, it would be fine if it's a straining feat, at least (I.E Something she doesn't use willy nilly).
Maria stands at a height of 5'7 and weighs 120 lbs, rather than an athletic build like her sister she's simply average. She almost always has a smile on her face, rarely if ever is she mad or seen sad. Whereas her sister leans towards what could almost be considered goth, Maria tends to wear an abundance of bright colors and anything from short skirts to jeans, dresses to a plain old white T-shirt.
Maria has long dark blonde hair that she usually just lets hang free, she doesn't really put effort into tending to it beyond brushing it a bit and washing it.
Her chest is slightly bigger than Melissas' and her butt is average, definetely not flat like her sister. She also has a more 'feminine' shape than her sister. Her facial features however, are almost identical. Her eyes are almond shaped and a deep blue, her lips are full and slightly puffy. Her nose is rounded, but not fat, her nostrils are also fairly small.
Her ears are rounded and come to a slight tip on the tops of them.
Skills/Talents:
Maria is surprisingly good at singing, some of her friends would say the best in her school.
Brief Backstory:
Being the older sister, Maria was expected to set an example for Melissa, protect her, and everything else expected of the older sibling. And Maria did just that to the best of her abilities, though it was obvious her attitude nor dress style rubbed off on her, much to her dismay Melissa seemed to be the polar opposite of her. Though, she still cared for her and loved her, she was her sister after all.
Maria was easily one of the most popular people in her school, though she wasn't your typical arrogant holier than thou popular girl, she was nice to pretty much everyone and especially her friends. Her powers manifested in a particularly bad way shortly after Elizabeth. She'd been out with two of her friends and someone decided to try mugging them, it..was a very bad idea. Before Maria knew what happened she'd severely wounded him without really trying, infact she didn't even touch him.
The man recieved a number of severe cuts all over his body where his clothes and himself had made contact with her skin. Her friends were horrified and so was she, she was covered in blood and her skin was sharp to the touch. Scared, she abandoned her friends and ran home making sure not to touch anyone else or accidentally brush her hand against herself. Her powers subsided shortly after she got home and explained everything to her parents.
A while later government officials showed up and reccommend her and Melissa be sent to Academy 218, of course Melissa agreed for herself before her parents said anything. As she was now barely in control of her powers she stood to severely injure her sister, her parents, or even herself against her will.
Power Information
Power Class:
Super System/Cerebral
Power:
Maria has a rather..interesting ability. She has the ability to both control and shape metal as well as taking on some aspects of metal in her body.
Metal Mimicry
Maria has the ability to sharpen her skin to be able to slice flesh with ease, though so far she has only been able to willingly do this with her hands. When she is scared, however, her entire body becomes like that of super sharp razor wire. She also has the ability to harden her skin to absorb impacts from punches or physical blows, should she be so inclined.
Metal Manipulation. Maria is also able to control small amounts of metal and bend it to her will, currently the maximum amount of metal she can comfortably control without putting a immense amount of strain on her body is 15 lbs at a 20 ft range. She is able to form shields, weaponry, or 'bullets'. Though, so far they're all crude and moreso blunt than they are sharp save for the bullets.
Limits:
Maria is limited to actually having some amount of metal nearby in her 20 ft range to manipulate, she can't simply magic metal out of the ground or out of herself.
She cannot control when she is able to activate her 'spike defense'. It does not happen on a constant basis when she is scared, she also can't stop it when she wants to.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Maria is just as weak to the sharpening of her skin as anyone else is, she has and can easily wound herself badly if she isn't careful.
Seeing as she has the characteristics of metal, she is EXTREMELY weak to electricity, taking far less than the average being to severely wound or even kill her.
She is also extremely weak to the cold, if it's cold enough she can't use her abilities, even colder and she is very susceptible to being severely wounded. Her movements will become slow and her skin and bones will become very brittle.
If there is no metal, he is limited to close range making her weak to those with long range abilities or those that specialize in close combat more than her.
Relationships
Family:
Janette Wright- Mother John Wright- Father
Melissa Wright- Sister
Dynamics:
Basically your character's relationship with other characters. Melissa Wright | Good. | Sister | "The best little sister anyone could ask for..I just wish she'd dress better." |
Other
Personality: Maria is the exact opposite of her sister. She is rarely without a smile on her face and she is generally in an extremely happy, possibly too happy, mood. She is kind to everyone, even those that clearly dislike her. She has a really childish attitude most of the time, though she knows when to be serious and when not to.
@Mr Allen J I plan on making one or two more characters, I only made Maria similar to Melissa due to them being siblings. Definetely going to be making some form of beast/shifter type character too.
At first glance you'd easily mistake Serena for a boy, she doesn't really look feminine in the least no matter which angle you look at her from. She is 5'3 and 85 lbs, she sports an athletic build that has hints of muscle tone thanks to her ability. She is without a doubt a full blooded American hailing from Florida, she also has the slight tan to prove it. She has a slight southern accent and dresses like a tomboy. Her fashion consists of caps to cover her ears up, jeans, and t-shirts with sneakers. She mostly wears blue or orange, those being her favorite colors. She is typical seen carrying around a small dark orange rucksack filled with beef jerky, slim jims, and the like. Of which she is usually seen eating.
Her brown hair is cut relatively short in jagged layers, it hangs to about the bottom of her neck. On the top of her head on either side she sports short pointed cat ears, a side effect of her first attempt at shifting into her lion form, she has yet to figure out how to remove them. She usually wears her bangs over her right eye.
She has dark green almond shaped eyes, her pupils are slit like a predatory cats, and a rounded face. Her nose is rounded and rather small, possibly too small, and it tilts up ever so slightly into a tip. Her lips are rather thin and her ears are rounded and fairly small.
She has extremely sharp teeth, more prominently pronounced are her canines, that are built for tearing meat from bone just like a lions are. I don't reccommend putting fingers near her mouth if she is hungry.
Skills/Talents:
Street fighting, and she's pretty good at it, at least she thinks so.
She is also incredibly agile and nimble, able to outlast most people in the stamina department.
Brief Backstory:
Ever since she could walk she was definetely a tomboy, whereas other girls her age including her sister would rather sit inside and play with dolls, she was often seen outside climbing trees or rough-housing with her two brothers or the neighbors..and winning. She was always stronger than other kids her age and even those a bit older than her, no one was sure why or how and simply passed it off as part of her 'active lifestyle'. Her powers awakened noticeably when she was 9 and suddenly grew extremely sharp feline-esque claws and nearly accidentally maimed her older brother. She wasn't really sure what happened, nor did she know how to control it, but she did find it kinda cool despite harming her brother.
Nothing was done and she wasn't really blamed, it was common for accidents to happen when a metahumans powers revealed themselves. Instead she was simply told to be more careful from then on and try not to get into so many fights. Yea, because that would ever happen...If anything she used it to her advantage and eventually learned how to partially control her powers over the next five years. She found not only was she stronger than most other people her age and some older, she could hear, smell, and see better. As she practiced her powers more her eyes took on the characteristics of that of a predators, wherein the pupils were slit.
Eventually, however, the use of her powers was taken notice from NEST and her parents were instructed to send her to Academy 218 before she got too out of hand. Her parents sadly agreed that it was what was best for their daughter.
Power Information
Power Class:
Super System: Biological
Power:
Serena takes the whole 'heart of a lion' thing a bit too literally. She is, more or less, a humanoid lion with the ability to shift into one, her extra set of ears are proof of such.
Lion Shifter
Exactly as it says on the tin but partially more complicated. No, she is not technically a were-lion, though in theory it's the same concept. She is, without a doubt, still mortal as well. She is able to shift her own nails into extremely sharp feline-esque claws that are able to slice up skin fairly easily, she has learned to be able to do this at will and the change takes little more than a few seconds.
She is also decently strong, able to lift roughly 145 lbs easily, as well as durable. It'll take more than a simple punch or two to knock her out or put her out of the fight. That said, knives and bullets effect her just as much as anyone else. Further describing her bite, she can bit down on anything she can fit her mouth around at 650 psi just like a lion. Seriously, don't put your fingers near her mouth when she is hungry.
Her senses are heightened far beyond that of a normal human, allowing her to see almost perfectly in the dark, have a heightened sense of smell and hearing, as well as having a heightened spatial and kinetic sense.
She is also decently fast, outpacing most humans, meta's that specialize in speed however are much faster. Her main ability, that she chooses to use as least often as possible, is the ability to turn into a full grown lion. This only further enhances her fighting ability, it grants no added benefits beyond being as strong and as fast as a lion.
Limits:
This is more of a self imposed drawback than anything, Serena makes an effort to fully transform as least as possible due to the sheer amount of pain felt afterwards when she reverts to human form. Not to mention having to buy new clothes is annoying.
Shifting is not instantaneous, it takes roughly 20 seconds to shift into a lion and one minute to shift back into a human.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Despite being durable, Serena is not on par with Superman by far. While, she will take more blows than the average kid her age and some average people, she is still a kid with a small frame. She will go down fairly easily, and go down hard.
She is extremely vulnerable for several minutes after shifting back into human form from the sheer amount of pain felt from her bones breaking and reforming themselves back to her human frame.
She is, of course, limited to close quarters combat unless of course she manages to get her grubby little paws on a ranged weapon. In that case, shit gets real...most likely for her as she has never fired a gun.
Relationships
Family:
Jackson Jones- Father Maryanne Jones- Mother
Elizabeth Jones- Younger Sister Jeremy Jones- Older Brother Claude Jones- Younger Brother
Dynamics:
She is one of the newer students, so no one.
Other
She is without any doubt a tomboy, no pretty dresses and short skirts for her. She is rude, sarcastic, and condescending. She is always looking for a fight and will gladly challenge anyone despite their age, she enjoys it. If you're lucky to get on her good side, you'll find she can actually be nice when she wants to, even though she doesn't show it initially at first. She is also extremely rebellious and has a hard time following orders or rules, she feels they only apply to the 'normal' people.
@Shikaru I find it pretty contrived that she's eleven and good at street fighting, parkour, and etc. Also, I hope you know that cats (all of them) have low stamina. Which is why Cheetahs can only reach their famous speed in a short burst, and etc.
@Mr Allen J She grew up with two brothers, I mostly mean street fighting as in informal not officially trained fighting. Not street fighter-esque type badassery. I also intended on editing out the bit about parkour, but evidently my edits did not save.
This is also true, but she is also part human, I also don't see people in real life lifting cars, turning into part metal, telekinetically moving things, or flying. I think it's partially fair that not everything has to abide by real life standards.
@Mr Allen J How do you figure? She has a lower center of gravity, this would give her a advantage in some aspects. Not to mention her super strength as well as claws.
@Mr Allen JHey, I'd be interested in joining this, if you'd have me and I've already written up a Character sheet. If you could give me some ideas for more drawbacks/limits on some of the powers that would be great, cause I don't think the ones I have for some of the powers are really that good.
Basic Information
Name:
Jackson/Michael/James DuCarthy
Age:
17
Gender:
Male
Appearance & Attire:
Jackson is a tall, lanky guy, standing at around 6'2 and weighing in around 170 pounds. Due to MIchael's love of movement and exercise, Jackson's body is a lot more fit than it probably would be if it wasn't or the voice in his head telling him to "run, Run, RUN!" His musculature is lean and while not as developed as it could be, is still rather tone. He keeps his hair somewhat short in what seems to be perpetually messy style(though whether this is due to cosmic interference or simple laziness is for you to decide) and is mainly a warm jet black in color, though he does like to highlight it at times. His eyes change color depending on who is in control of the body at any time are a pale ice blue(as Jackson), a bright mix of green and hazel(as Michael), or a subdued steel grey(as James). As far as clothing goes, that depends on whose in charge of dressing on ay particular day. Jackson likes to wear clothes that aren't really that flashy, but are still somewhat socially acceptable, usually some mix of a t-shirt, a hoodie, some jeans, and sneakers. Sometimes he wears sunglasses as well, if he feels the need to look cool and aloof. Michael, on the other hand, lives for the attention and constantly wears things that he thinks are cool or stand out in some way, such as Hawaiian shirts, leather jackets that have a hot rod design, ripped pants, pants that look like they've been sewed together form the skins of different animals, you name and he's likely to have it, or will be getting it soon. James dressed the most conservatively of the three, dressed in all black with a hoodie, jeans and shoes, and always trying to look as inconspicuous as possible.
Skills/Talents:
Jackson is an avid gamer, with a preference for fighting games and smack talk, as well as a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Doe, which he takes very seriously and is always quick to prove to people that he's just as good as he claims. Other than that, he's a good test taker, able to ace most exams without even trying on things that have to due with logic or memorization of information, though when it comes to more critical thinking type problems, he tends to flounder a bit if he hasn't study the material. Michael loves to run, loves to climb, parkour, all kinds of things that require keeping the body active. He also likes to sneak up on people and scare them, or prank them with a little bit of sleight of hand and reverse pick-pocketing(a trick he learned from some less than reputable people after unwittingly helping them with some less than reputable things.) James is a more introspective thinker, and unlike Jackson, is actually a very diligent student instead of a good test taker, always making sure to study the material whenever he can(and feeling rather annoyed that his brothers can take advantage of his hard work just because they share the same mind and body). He also likes to draw a mix of realistic and surreal images in his sketchbooks, of which he's shown view people and is rather sensitive about showinh them to tohers.
Brief Backstory:
Growing up is tough, growing up with siblings is even tougher, growing up sharing the same body and mind with your siblings is hell. For as long as any of the DuCarthy brothers could remember, they've never had a single moment of real privacy, as they have always been with two other people constantly giving their opinions on early everything. Take into account that getting help for this kind of thing without being thogh of as absolutely insane is also quite damning, and for the first 8 years of his life, he had to deal with adults constantly trying to shove pills down his throat n order to solve the problem. It wasn't until their ninth birthday that people began to realize that maybe something else was going on, as that's the first day that they were able to switch bodies. It was a rather jarring experience for everyone involved when the usually calm, if lazy, JAckson suddenly started hopping all over the place like a jack-rabbit on steroids yelling "I'm free!" over and over and over again while other kids looked on in shock.
After that, as they learned to more easily switch between each other, they noticed other powers begin to grow that were unique to them. Jackson found that he could create a strange silvery substance out of thin air that could change form and move according to his will. Michael manifested the ability to phase out of the world in a way, entering another plane of existence where he's most people can neither sense nor touch him. And James found that he could summon beings from another realm, whether that be his imagination or an entirely different world he had no way of knowing, and having them do his bidding. With these new discoveries in their abilities, their parents decided that the best thing they could do(after apologizing to the two sons hey did't even know they had) was to send the brothers off to Academy 218 to better learn how to harness their abilities.
Power Information
Power Class:
Super System and Other
Power:
Three-in-one. Super System Due to the fact that Jackson, who is the elected lead consciousness, possess heightened physical ability, being noticeably stronger than the average person, having a good deal more stamina, and also being able to calculate and react to things at a much faster rate than what is considered normal. In fact, his brain is much more powerful than that of most people and even some computers, allowing him to blaze through most problems with ease and store and recollect information with little effort. His brothers can help in this regard, adding their own efforts to speed up the process, as well as dealign with unwanted intruders. Since there is always someone inside of their head, that makes it much more difficult for someone like a telepath to try and read his mind or try and do something to him, as his brother's are always on the look out for such an intrusion.
The DuCarthy's have also constructed a sort of mindscape with in their head, making things even more confusing for intruders as they go through different, sometimes even hazardous sections of their brain in order to find where the information they want is. If the intruder is able to slip past detection, however, then the mindscape will not appear, as it requires focus from at least one of the brothers to be brought into realization.
Soul Projection: Jackson is able to manifest his soul into a silvery, mist-like substance that he can form into a variety of things, from knives, hands, hamers, blow torches, etc, etc. However, they come into two varieties: Physical and Meta-physical. Physical can be seen by all people and can effect the world around them, i.e. making a hand and using it to play two controllers at the same time or wielding a knife and stabbing someone with it. They can effect the real world in many ways, as he can crete fire with this substance, push people back with a shockwave, and so on and so forth. Meta-Physical, on the other hand, is more tricky, These things have to be symbolic of the effect they want to implant on someone, and only affect things that can understand that concept. For example, if Jackson were to make something to cause someone pain, he'd have to create something that symbolized pain and ave that person touch it. No real damage would be done, but they would feel as if they had just been hit with whatever kind of pain he intended to deliver. He can also use this to slightly sway emotions, putting suggestive imprints in peoples heads that, so long as they aren't aware of the influence, will have some difficulty resisting. These meta-Physical constructs are difficult to avoid because, like what they represent, they can't be seen, only felt.
Astral Phasing: Michael has the ability to phase into another plain where only the products of the mind dwell, basically becoming a ghost or all intents and purposes. In this form, he isn't bound by the laws of physics and is unable to touch or be touched/effected by anything the solely affects things physically. This makes him excellent at stealth, as he can walk through walls and avoid detection and danger without any worry for his own well being(for the most part) and spy on people without the worry of getting caught. Another ability that he has is that he can meld with people by stepping into their body, and while this doesn't give him control of the person, he can control how they perceive the world, either by making them hallucinate, giving them phantom feelings, voices in their head, etc. etc. all five senses are viable to be messed with, plus, if the person has no mental protection, he can read their mind with no effort at all, as he techinically is and isn;t that person at that moment.
Astral Summoning: James is able to summon creatures to his aid, whether t be for combat . . or because he wants to talk about his day. Due to his non-confrontational nature, it's usually the later of the two, as James first instinct in a fight is to run away. Of the three brothers, James is the most powerful and varied when it comes to straight combat, as his creatures tend to be very strong in that area. He currently is able to summon one of six creatures at any given time.
Whisperis the size a regular human, makes very little sound when moving, has no sense of presence, can meld with shadows, very intelligent, is very swift, very dexterous with it's hands, enhanced strength, it's incense holder is actually a high tech holder for a nano-bot queen. The nano-bots she creates can scan and recreate most objects, but it takes time depending on size and complexity. The max time it'd take is about a couple hours. The nano-bots are also able to interfere with technology, not really hacking as much as causing the hardware to malfunction, rendering whatever device encountered unusable until it can be repaired. He interacts with it through a form of telepathic link that is unique to his species, as is his mind. Whisper is highly resistant to mental abilities due to the fact that his mind is structured in a way that is vastly different and foreign to most humans. The nano-bots are very, very, very vulnerable to high-pitched noises and intense vibrations, making it impossible for them to hold any sort of function, which leads to them falling to the floor in a mess.
Bob is fast, has extremely sharp blades claws, average durability, but is rather strong, never stays still, very fidgety, likes to eat but is incredibly picky, even though he doesn't need to eat, easily distracted by things like TV, likes to watch people play video games, has a dangerous stinger tail, but no venom glands, probably removed. Still pretty powerful, however, as it can extend up to 5 meters in any direction with explosive penetrating force, can't go through thick metal, though.
Commando is 8 feet tall, is strict, rather fatherly, can fluently speak all languages due to armor having built-in translator, carries with him a huge gattling laser gun, futuristic shielding tech protects him from most conventional weapons, though things like rocket launcher will still hurt him, wears a armored enviro-suit that protects him from most environmental dangers and gives him resistance to heat and cold, but if he gets hit by a strong enough electrical charge, shielding will give out, and he'll lose the stimulants that allow him to be strong enough to move in it. This makes it so that his speed, which is average running for normal humans, becomes slowed down to a shuffling crawl. Armor by itself is resistant to most forms of low-caliber fire, but high caliber stuff will go through it rather easily, especially with something like a sniper-rifle.
Chiller is slightly stronger than your average human, likes to make ice sculptures, can generate strange form of ice that is silver-ish in color and rather hard to melt and break, it's touch causes frost to cover things, if something gets completely covered in frost, it'll be frozen, frost coverage is slow, but very painful and hard to get rid off and only grows while Chiller is in contact with subject. He also has a strange attraction to human women, tends to stalk them if James doesn't remind him not to, weak to intense flames, but any low to medium powered flames will be extinguished by his presence, is always surrounded by cold air, sometimes snow falls if there is enough humidity
Silver is 7 ft tall, able to summon a huge ass sword, is basically a giant suit of walking armor, so it can keep a person inside of it, the armor itself is ridiculously durable and able to absorb impacts rather well to, but it's weak to electricity, ice, rapid down wards shifts in temperature. Fire and heat don't seem seem to bother it, or whoever's inside, claims that it lives around a sun, has a habit of busting through doors, never tries to open them, is extremely dense and heavy, so he sinks like a stone in water.
Crawling Jaw is about the size of a Monster Truck, has thick skin that is resistant to low caliber bullets, human-like intelligence, able to track scents with it's tongue, it's tongue is able to launch over 100 meters and is barbed, Greatly Superior strength, relentless hunter, faster than it looks, but still kinda slow.
Limits:
Jackson is unable to manifest or make use of his power outside of a 5 meter range, and for using his Meta-Physical constructs, that range is lessened to to 3 meters. He also can't use this power much defensively, as his solid constructs aren't stable enough to take direct contact. He also needs to have a certain amount of focus to form his constructs, so if he's currently suffering from good deal of pain or is otherwise unable to focus on his ability to sufficient degree, he can't use it.
Michael can only stay in his phase form for a maximum of 10 minutes before he has t return to the physical plane, and the longer he tries to stay past that time, the harder it becomes to phase back in. Also, while his Phase form is usually undetectable, those who can sense people either through their Metahuman energy or have a Cerbral Power can sense him rather easily and same can even attack him directly while he's in this state, which he has no way to defend against other than phasing out of the world.
James can only summon one creature at a time, and summoning takes about 5-10 seconds of focus to accomplish. Also, after he's summoner a creature, he must wait up to another day to summon that creature again, and about a minute before he can summon another creature again if he sends one back or they die.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Jackson has to be careful when using his Meta-physcial constructs because, before he can pass the feeling to someone else he must first experience it, and hold unto that same level of intensity until he's able to pass it on to the next person. That means that if he wants summon to suffer a great deal of pain, he has to feel that same level of pain, and if he's not careful, this could cause him to lose focus on the construct and thus have it disperse before he gets the chance to use it. This makes it so he's very weary f using Meta-physical constructs to hurt or harm others, or even use them in the first place.
Michael is completely unable to interact with the world physically in his Phase form, and when he melds with another person, he'll suffer any injuries they suffer while they're melded and those will persist into the physical world. This also means that if he were to meld with someone as they die, he'd likely die as well. Also, when he infiltrates the mind of a Cerebral through melding, he can get trapped by them, and as a result, be completely at their mercy until they decide to let him go. Fortunately for him, melding doesn't count towards his time limit(thought it doesn't count against it either) so he doesn't have to worry about someone trapping him int he mental plane by keeping him trapped inside their head.
If one of James creatures die, he suffers from a very violent mental backlash, leading to violent spasming throughout his whole body and temporary paralysis. also, James has a telepathic bond with his summons, so if somebody enters the mind of one of them, they have a quick access point into the DuCarhty's head without having to go through the hassle of the other brothers.

Jackson is almost cripplingly lazy, even on a good day, often not doing or finishing things that he finds too tedious and/or uninteresting. However, when it comes to helping others, whether they're his friends, enemies, or strangers, he'll do so without hesitation, never willing to just leave things be.
Michael is the most sociable of the three, having a charmingly energetic personality and always eager to meet new people. And while he is all these things, he's also a few others as well:Cold, Calculating, Ruthless. Michael is willing to do anything and everything to further his own goals our protect his brothers, and will gladly submit people in his way to great amounts of psychological torture in order to break them, or get them to back off.
James doesn't interact with people, often giving only stony states of silence to those who attempt to do so. This do more towards his not really knowing how to interact well with people rather than wanting to be alone. That being said, he doesn't want to have a lot of friends, just one or two goods ones beside his brothers and the creature he may or may not be pulling out of his own head.
While Michael is the athletic one, Jackson is the one who loves to compete, and can't deny a challenge, no matter how badly he might lose or how stacked the odds are against him
None of the brothers tell people about the existence of the others, so except for the teachers and any friend's they might have, most people tend to be confused by the varied personalities they tend to have.
The brothers decide who gets to control the body through Rock-paper-scissors
James tends to spend most of his time alone talk ing to Whisper, his first summon and best friend, though sense most people never see whisper, it looks like he's talking to himself.
All of the brothers have a habit of talking out loud hen frustrated with each other(well, Michael always speaks out loud when talking to his brothers). so again, most people think they're crazy.
Jackson has resigned himself to the single life, as he doubts he could ever get a girlfriend when he's literally three people in one body
Jackson secretly resents his brothers for that, as well as being the only brother to figure out how to guard his thoughts from the others
1. A lightning bolt contains a lot of powerrrrr. Though, it would be fine if it's a straining feat, at least (I.E Something she doesn't use willy nilly).
2. Yeah, that's totally fine.
I did mean that as an extreme, so thats the limit of the power she can use but it's kind of like a last resort thing (cause it would very badly hurt her/leave her very vulnerable)
Ah okay great, I can post my second character then :)
Rori is pretty short, standing at around 5'1" or possibly 5'2". They aren't sure what they're exact height is. They are slightly lighter than average due to being quite skinny with a general lack of muscles. Rori certainly isn't athletic or strong looking, in fact they are really quite scrawny in that respect. Much to they're announced Rori is reasonably well sized at her chest, being around a C or D cup. Most people born female would be happy with this but it hardly helps with Rori's gender dysphoria. Most of the time Rori will be found wearing a binder to make her chest look a lot flatter. So in most circumstances Rori has a more gender neutral body and the lack of other curves helps this. To help in having a more gender neutral appearance Rori has their hair cut short. It is in a somewhat messy style, not so short that strands don't fall across their face. Occasionally they will style it in some way but often it is just left in a mess as if they had just woken up. While naturally Rori's hair is a dark red-ginger in colour, a rather nice colour, they tend to have it dyed. This is due to them being somewhat embarrassed about the hair colour - they were teased about it at a younger age. At the moment it is dyed a dark blue. Their skin tone is fair and freckled, with a myriad of freckles covering their face. They have light brown-yellow eyes, slightly more yellow than they are brown. These are quite large and probably the most predominant facial feature. Their face is slightly round in its shape giving them quite a cute appearance and making them look a bit younger than you would expect. Cute is probably a good term to use to describe Rori, and the smile that is permanently across their lips makes them look really quite friendly. On top of their more normal humanoid features Rori has a few that are not so humanoid. One unnatural thing about Rori is their eyes, though this isn't always obvious from a distance. They are more like a bird's than a humans and as a result does not blink with their eyelids but rather by a third hidden eyelid, the nictitating membrane. This isn't often noticeable however. Along with this various parts of their body are covered in a soft down-like feathers. These are a light reddish-brown in colour, similar to that of their natural hair. Most of the other bird features they have aren't easily visible. Clothing wise Rori tends to wear outfits that are more gender neutral. You won't find them in a dress or a skirt any time soon. They most often wear baggy and concealing shirts, with a binder underneath, and more loose jeans or trouser(pants) and trainers. They are almost always found wearing the same dark green hoody. They predominantly dress in green, with some darker blues to match their hair along with black and white.
Skills/Talents:
Socialising: Rori is incredibly friendly and cheerful, if a bit shy, meaning they excel in social situations and find it easy to make friends. In general they are very easy to get along with. Optimistic: Though not much of a skill, Rori can make the most out of a bad situation and isn't one to let what is happening get the best of them. This means they can help cheers others up and will keep calm if things take a turn for the worse. Creative: Rori is good at both writing and drawing/painting and enjoys doing both. They often get inspiration for stories for the most random things. They always carry a notebook or sketchpad around with them and often will just start writing or sketching. Musical: To add to their creativity Rori is quite musical. They play a few instruments, including the piano, clarinet, violin and Irish tin whistle. They also enjoy listening to music and have a good sense of rhythm, always open to pick up more instruments.
Brief Backstory:
Rori was born to a relatively large family. They were the fourth child born into the family, with an older brother and two older sisters. Their younger brother was born just a year after they were. Their parents were strict Christians and brought up all of their children to be religious as well. This wasn't something that Rori ever liked but they had to go along with it. Along with this their parents were incredibly anti-metahuman. Even though Rori had little in common with their siblings they always tried to get along with them and most often succeeded. They got on best with their younger brother, Conor, though he was rather annoying. There was the smallest age gap between the two of them which helped. However the person Rori did got on very well with was their cousin, Max. The two families grew up near each other and Rori would spend a lot of time with their cousin. The two got on, though Max was a much less friendly and more troublesome individual than Rori. However when Rori was eight there was a fall out between the two families. They were forbidden from seeing Max again and eventually Max and her family moved away to another city. Rori lived a relatively normal life until they were twelve. It was at this point that they began to become aware enough to question they had been assigned at birth. Rori certainly didn't feel like a girl, felt uncomfortable within their own body and disliked being lumped in with either of the binary genders. They eventually came to the conclusion that they were neither. It took a lot of courage but they told their family. The result wasn't good. The only reaction they got was negative and then given the strict warning to never talk about it 'or else.' This was one of the more unhappy periods of Rori's life as they were forced to keep going under the name Roisin and as a girl. It was shortly after this that her powers began to manifest. The change was subtle at first. Their eyesight changed - getting better. Then they stopped blinking and began to form light feathers across her body. They did their best to hide this even though they didn't know what was going on. Rori panicked a lot more when they first changed shape into a bird. Having no idea what was going on and panicking slightly they continued to try and hide it. They were around thirteen when their parents walked in on them mid-change. It was safe to say Rori became more of a disappointment than they had been before. The fear on their parents faces was clear. For the next few days their parents said nothing. But Rori noticed the difference, and heard the private phone calls they made. Their parent's hatred for metahumans seemed to extend even to their child. Things took a turn for the worse when Rori overheard a conversation her father had on the phone that suggested they would send Rori away to have their powers removed and, if that wasn't possible (which is clearly wasn't), to have them killed. Feeling even more scared than before Rori didn't have much choice but to pack a bag and run away from home. They lived on the streets for a relatively short amount of time before someone passerby noticed that they weren't your ordinary street kid and reported them to the NEST. It was decided that letting an untrained metahuman teen live alone on the streets wasn't the most sensible idea so instead Rori was introduced into the academy scheme. They have been there ever since and has gone back to their cheerful self, finally able to be who they want to be. As a result of not having a home to go back to they are permanent residents of the academy.
Power Information
Power Class:
Super-System (Bestial)
Power: Permanent Features
Rori has a few birdlike features that remain even when they are in a humanoid form. Their eyes are more birdlike than other humans. This gives them a much better vision than normal humans meaning she can see longer distances and colours in the ultraviolet spectrum just as birds do. However with this they struggle to move their eyes and often has to move their head around to look in other directions. Along with this they have light down-like feather covering a lot of their body - including along visible parts of their body like their arms and neck. This acts as an extra layer of clothes in terms of keeping them warm. They're bones are also lighter and stronger than most, like a birds, as if to allow for them to fly. However they have no way to fly as a human, so these just make her lighter than she looks.
Transformation
Rori can transform fully into a few forms of birds. As a bird they have all of the features of a bird and it is difficult to tell the difference from her and a bird. However she retains her intelligence and mind, so often if a bird is acting as a bird should not it is probably Rori. This comes with all the features of whatever bird she turns into. She tends to turn into the average bird for that type in terms of size, strength and speed.
Limits:
Difficulty rolling their eyes due to them being birdlike and as a result has to move their head more. their eyesight is better than normal humans but not quite as good as the best birds eyesight. Rori is limited in the types of birds she can turn into. At the moment she can turn into a thrush (she tends to go for a robin), a kestrel, a hawk, a hummingbird, a duck and an owl. She can turn into any species from these sections. Along with this she can only make the change a few times per day unless she pushes herself.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
If they look into the far distance for too long they can strain their eyes meaning that their vision will go blurry and it is difficult for them to see anything. Rori gets incredibly exhausted and ravenous after changing from their bird form back to their human form. This can easily be solved by eating a lot of food and a long nap. However if they don't get this they are prone to collapse without warning or faint from the fatigue. Along with this the longer they stay in their bird form the more they takes on the characteristics of the bird. It is likely that if they remained as a bird for a prolonged period of time they will probably forget who they are and how to turn back into a human. This would mean Rori would be permanently stuck in the form of a bird. Ruri also sometimes get stuck mid-change which is incredibly painful and traumatic. It can take them hours to get out of this state. Along with this they are often left in pain after the change and feel like they have limbs that they no longer have (such as wings).

Other
Rori absolutely hates the name Roisin, and the only time they really get annoyed is when someone calls them by that name (or refers to them as a girl or boy)
The nickname Robin was one given to them by their cousin, Max, when they were younger due to Rori having red hair like a Robin's chest and being quite flighty/timid as a child
Personality wise Rori is very friendly, upbeat, cheerful and optimistic. They tend to like to joke around with other people and can often be quite teasing.
Rori's father is Irish, and moved over to the US as a young adult
When he's not wearing the uniform - which is often the case, he'll lean towards wearing a jacket for the colder Alaskan weather as well as a pair of cargo pants and working boots.
Skills/Talents:
Growing up in a rough neighbourhood in a broken home's taught Rowan a couple of delinquent skills, from cracking simple locks to getting into cars (the older ones, at least) without setting off the alarms and so on. Also, whilst it's not exactly a quality one could boast about, Rowan has a rather high level of endurance and is capable of taking more than a couple punches and still pulling himself back up to his feet. Years of physical abuse have conditioned him with a somewhat higher pain threshold than your average teen and it also translates to a psychological effect - no matter how beat he is, nothing will pull him down if he's set his mind to something and he's more likely to break than bend.
Brief Backstory:
Hailing from the poorer districts of Verthaven, Rowan was another textbook case of a kid coming from a broken home, the only difference being that this kid had powers and their family happened to Iron Cross. To be specific, Rowan’s father had very close ties to the group from his time in prison and throughout upbringing of his son he'd attempted to embed a similar set of bigoted views through years of domineering and abuse. His mother also suffered the same treatment if not worse, leading the two of them to endure years of abuse under the old man’s roof.
It wasn't until after he hit his early teens that it came to a head - the old man had come home drunk yet again after another night out with ‘his brothers of iron’ and had taken a disliking to his demeanour and started hurling abuse. When Rowan shot back, this made him angry and he looked ready to throw the bottle at him until his wife intervened, instead becoming the new target of his ire as she took a heavy beating for it.
Then something snapped. Years of abuse and resentment came bubbling to the surface - Rowan practically threw himself against the old man and laid into him blow after blow, until the stress of the situation ‘activated’ his powers and the next ‘hit’ caused him to unintentionally send a metal frame flying into the old man and fatally snapping his neck.
It didn't take long for the authorities to realise what had happened, especially when he tested positive for the metahuman gene. NEST quickly took custody of him after the truth of his circumstances was revealed and given the duress he'd been under, it was determined that he had not intentionally killed the old man and was in clear need of a stable environment. Initially, he was supposed to attend the academy in Verthaven but it soon became apparent that this left him open to being approached by elements of the Iron Cross or worse and he was often seen outside of education, doing anything but learning.
In the end, as a drastic but ultimately necessary measure he was sent to Academy 218 in secluded but stable Alaska, far away from his troubles back home where he couldn't run away from his issues, and a fresh start.
Power Information
Power Class:

Power:
Electromagnetic Manipulation:
Rowan can generate a rather powerful electromagnetic field in order to manipulate his surroundings. Magnetised metallic objects can be moved around and have force exerted upon them at will, whilst he's also capable of 'seeing' the path of electrical currents and interfering eith electronics by generating said fields.
Limits:
For one, there's a limit to the size of the fields he can generate. He wouldn't be able to lift a truck off thr ground, but with the proper focus and training he could learn to generate more concentrated fields, allowing him to defledt metallic projectiles.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Excessive use of his power to the point of overexertion can cause him to suffer intense migraines and nosebleeds. If he pushed it even further he'd pass out from exhaustion. Also, being encased in a faraday cage or a similarly insulating enclosure can hinder the effectiveness of his powers. Oh, and unshielded CCTV cameras don't seem to like being around him.

Other
It's not a major concern just yet, but Rowan's had a growing reliance on painkillers to alleviate the migraines he suffers as a result of the stubborn overexertion of his powers. Just something to be noted for future reference.
Whilst he's nowhere near the die-hard bigot that his old man was, Rowan's upbringing leaves a little something to be desired when it comes to people of other ethnicity or sexuality. That doesn't mean he'll recoil in disgust at the sight of someone of a different race and start spouting white supremacist chants, rather he'd just find himself acting awkwardly or uncomfortable with the situation if there is a problem. He's a work in progress for NEST, but yeah.
I have no preference as to who my characters room with. I think it would be neat if we had random roommates. Like, stick the characters in a randomizer or something. That way we are likely to have interesting character dynamics, with no preference as to who rooms with whom and all.
I go for the random roommate selection as well, though it'd be intriguing to have Richard be with another ginger or a cat person (either someone who generally loves cats or has feline-ish powers). ;))
@Raijinslayer I have to say, I'm not really feeling this character. He seems a tad too good at too many things imo (Things that barely correlate to each other). I find that especially jarring since he's supposed to be three people in one body (Wouldn't that mean there'd be less time for each of them to learn skills). I also find it pretty stupid that a sixteen year-old (Even if it's a persona) is "Cold, Calculating, Ruthless. " and uses psychological torture.
I also find his ability a tad overpowered. He can do quite a lot with his ability, with little limits or drawbacks. Some of the powers could be cut imo. The summoning monsters is it's own power in and of itself.
@Mr Allen J How do you figure? She has a lower center of gravity, this would give her a advantage in some aspects. Not to mention her super strength as well as claws.
And she's also eleven. That's really hard to swallow that she'd be a good fighter. Sure, she has strength enhancements and that jazz, but she's also small and lightweight - also impulsive, inexperienced, etc. I find it hard to believe that she'd even want to fight someone older - unless she's driven by peer-pressure, most little kids steer clear of the bigger ones. Because it's a whole different group than beating up kids on the playground. I'm sorry, but I finally really contrived that a eleven year old girl would be a good street fighter. I'm totally fine with it if she's only good at fighting people her own age group.
Still think that having low cat-stamina would be a good weakness - but, eh. She's not that strong to begin with.

Almost done my second sheet, by the way.

@Mr Allen J You clearly haven't met kids where I live. I've both been in and helped teach an MMA class, kids much younger than me were actually very good fighters. Once again, by 'street fighting' I don't mean super badass Street Fighter ninjutsu shit, I basically mean self taught fighting. While, I think it is fair she would have a harder time fighting those older than her, it's not at all impossible nor too far fetched given her personality. I never said she'd be able to beat the shit out of someone older and more experienced, just that she'd willingly accept a challenge and actually stand a chance.
@Mr Allen JThat hm is slightly terrifying, but thank you :)
And as those two are accepted, I post a third xD Admittedly this is the last. There's a possibility she may be problematic power wise? I'm unsure but I ran with the idea I had and I'm willing to change if need be.
Basic Information
Name:
Maxine Ivanna Diaz 'Max'
Age:
18
Gender:
Female
Appearance & Attire:
Often found wearing a somewhat violent expression Max can be rather intimidating, even at only 5'3" tall. There are certainly rare occasions where she does not look as if she is about to kill all those around but those are, well, few and far between. Max looks reasonably strong for her height. Her raw strength is something that she works on through training in combat and doing a lot of exercise. She is certainly physically fit and this is something that is often obvious when people she her. While she is certainly not overweight, most of her weight coming from the muscles she has, she couldn't be described as skinny. She has an unfortunate lack of curves, something that she herself doesn't care about. Her chest isn't quite flat but in certain clothing it's difficult to tell if anything is there. Max certainly doesn't have anything near the ideal feminine body, often looking somewhat more masculine. She pulls it off, however, and has no issue with the lack of curves. She isn't look for people to be attracted to her anyway. Max's hair is a dark brown in colour. The left hand side is practically shaved, styled as an undercut. The rest is swept over to the right and often covers her eyes. At the front this falls to her chin and at the back it goes just past the nape of her neck. Sometimes she'll have her hair slightly dyed. The ends of it are currently a reddish colour from the last time she dyed it but the rest is it's natural colour. Her hair frames her incredibly dark brown, almost black eyes. Her eyes are turned up slightly and somewhat narrow. Her face is slightly oval shaped with surprisingly soft lines. Her skin tone is an olive tanned tone thanks to her Latin American/Hispanic heritage. She has thick, dark eyebrows and medium sized lips. All of this together means that her facial features look a lot more feminine than her body does. However she only rarely wears makeup, and in when she does it tends to be very dark. She has quite a few visible scars on both her face and arms, all from fights. There are quite a few that are also hidden by any clothes she wears. Max tends to wear clothes that are a mix of blacks and reds, with the occasional other dark colour or white thrown in there. She tends to go for some combination of ripped jeans, tank tops (or any top really) along with a leather jacket and boots.
Something like this:
Skills/Talents:
Fighting: Max is good at hand to hand combat and street fighting. She got most of her training from criminals and as a result fights dirty. She knows how to use weapons like a knife in combat if needed. Deception: Max is a pretty good liar, good to spinning a tale and getting people to believe her. This helps with all sorts of things. It can help make people believe she's harmless and often makes it all the easier to steal from them, or something similar. Gymnastics: Though she doesn't necessarily look it Max is pretty flexible due to doing gymnastics at a young age, and continuing it for a bit in her early teens. She kept up this flexibility and can do all sorts of fancy things such as handstands and forward flips. It's not a skill she uses much anymore, though. Gardening: Max rarely admits it but she has something of a talent for growing plants and flowers. She enjoys it as well but tends to keep it secret because it seems like it isn't a tough enough hobby for someone like her to have. Even so she tends to have one or two plants wherever she lives, though she goes for more dangerous varieties.
Brief Backstory:
Max's parent's relationship was built off of something akin to a love story. Her father was a metahuman part of a small gang and her mother a devout Christian. She put her love for him over her religious views, and he gave up the gang life to raise a family. As a result both were somewhat ostracised from their sides of the family. Even so Max grew up in a loving household. She was surprisingly close to her four year older brother, Sal, and the two of them spent most of their time play fighting (in a friendly way). Along with this Max spent a lot of time with her cousin, Rori (Roisin at the time), though she could tell that things were tense between her mother and her aunt. Max always knew of the existence of metahumans due to her father and brother being registered as them. Her brother was one of the few born a metahuman with inherited powers, with the super-system power of regeneration. Max was always slightly jealous because she felt that she was normal without a power. At the age of ten Max was forced to up and move, leaving behind her cousin that she had grown close to. She has never been sure of the exact reason but thinks it was something to do with the fact her brother and father were metahumans. They moved to Black Fall and lived here relatively happily until Max was twelve, and her brother sixteen. The family got in a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of both Max's father and mother. Salvador survived due to his regeneration and Max seemed to survive for the same reason. It was assumed that their father suffered injuries he couldn't recover from. The two of them were sent to live with their uncle on their father's side, who left them mostly to their own devices having never wanted kids. Max and Sal both fell into a bad crowd at this stage, though Max was mostly tagging along with her older 'cool' brother at this point. After beginning a life of crime they joined a minor metahuman gang. It was here that Max discovered the truth about her powers. She didn't have regeneration, rather she weakened another's power and temporarily gained it. This was why her father had died. The power she had made her a valuable member of the gang. It was here that she learned to fight and steal. By the age of fourteen she was regularly involved in street fights, doing drugs and participating in all sorts of gang activities. She miraculously managed to stay out of NEST's radar, being completely unregistered. However her, and a few others around her age, were caught doing minor crimes and noted down by the police force due to this. By sixteen Max had changed into a somewhat more violent person, though she had always had this streak in her. She had hooked up with people of both genders and was enjoying the gang lifestyle far too much. The gang she was in was growing more prominent and coming to the attention of the authorities. A raid on gang owned buildings resulted in the arrest of a lot of the members, including Max's older brother. It was sheer luck that she wasn't caught. She continued to live the same life, just more cautious, but missed her brother (not that she would admit this). Now in a different metahuman gang, due to her reasonably valuable power, she and a small group slipped up when out to kill a member of a rival gang. They were caught and all arrested. After spending a short period of time in prison, being questioned about the whereabouts of other gang members, she was brought to NEST to have the nature of her power tested. It was at this point she was given the option of joining the academy scheme. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Better to live in relative freedom than in jail for years on age. She took the opportunity and it was by pure coincidence that her cousin was at the academy she was sent to, Academy 218.
Power Information
Power Class:
Power
Power:
In simple terms Max has the power to weaken another's power and temporarily 'steal' it (however their own power is not disable so it is more minor replication).
Power Weakening
Max's power means that she can choose to weaken the power of another. This may mean that it does not last for as long as it normally would, does less damage, that they can't get to their maximum potential or other similar things. In general it is only weakened for a few hours, at most a day (which takes a lot of energy). She can control the amount a power is weakened if she concentrates hard enough.
Power 'Stealing'
When Max weakens a power she can also replicate this power temporarily. This means she gains a power almost identical to the person's who she weakened. However it is also much weaker than the original users and she only keeps this power temporarily. The most she has kept a power is two days. This does mean that she can use any other person's power, however, as long as she manages to weaken their own. She seems to be able to 'steal' a power of any class.
Limits:
Can only weaken a power so much. She the more she weakens one person's power the more she will struggle to weaken another. The longest she can weaken someone's power for is a day at a push. She only temporarily 'steals' powers. The rarely keeps it for more than two days meaning that she has to be constantly weakening other powers if she wants to use them and people are hardly okay with this. She seems to only be able to steal up to four, maybe five, powers. She has to have skin to skin contact to weaken/steal someone's power. The longer this contact is kept the more she can weaken their power.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
The fact that she has to have skin to skin contact is a weakness. This leaves her vulnerable as she weakens her targets power and means she has to get close to them in the first place which is not always a viable option. This can leave her in all sorts bad situations. She doesn't necessarily know what power someone has or how to use it meaning she can end up with a power completely useless to her. She doesn't have a very long time to learn how to use it either. The more Max weakens others power the weaker she gets physically, often leaving her vulnerable. This goes to the point where she falls unconscious. Her movement will often slow, she will get hungry, thirsty and tired and have a difficult doing anything if she weakens others powers too much. Along with this Max gains the weakness of whatever power she steals.

Personality wise Max is pretty violent and gets angry pretty easily. This doesn't mean that she's necessarily unfriendly. She's incredibly flirtatious. She doesn't put up with shit and isn't going to be sympathetic about people's problems, or get emotional and cry or something like that.
Max picks fights and gets in trouble far too often. She doesn't really care about the rules - they're just there to be broken after all.
