Aelia Stark

Everyone was trying to help the poor man that had his head in her lap. While a glowing object phased into the man's chest and sealed some of his wounds, it was something about the way that he breathed and looked at everyone that made her believe the man was gone. He had lost too much blood for too long. His breathing was becoming shallow and his eyes were clouded. Aelia simply stared at the dying man, her features slowly contorting into one of horror and sadness. It quickly changed into one of curiosity when the man opened his mouth.

"Watch your back," he gurgled, trying his hardest to force his words out. "There's... there are monsters on the streets..."

"What?" Aelia questioned him as gently as she could, frowning down at his face. The glowing shrine that appeared like it was from her favorite video game had not done much to save him. But the man fell silent and became limp in her arms. He did not speak, he did not even breathe. Her cerulean gaze flicked up to those around her, her eyes wide and afraid. She couldn't even find the words to express herself at the moment.

All Aelia knew is that they were in serious trouble.

Claire

Claire felt a little shy and stayed behind Artemis as they left the bathroom. The door to the girls restroom swiveled open and the goth from earlier exited with a rather curious look on her face. Once again, Claire felt the heat radiating off of her though it wasn't as intense as before, but it was enough to stop the advance of ice in a small radius around her. "We're not cosplayers, we're real. We actually have these." She stepped out to the side, revealing herself.
"I'm Claire and this is Artemis. Anivia and Diana." She gestured to themselves and then pointed to her wings. "And I have reason to believe that you're one of us too."

The cafe seemed to be in a state of pandemonium as there were customers and staff alike, scrambling around. Claire looked around, taking it all in before shifting her attention to the girl in front of her. What was going on?

Mr. Lion was seated over a man, anguish clearly painted on his face. He was one of three seated around him. Then she saw the meeps floating in the air. She frowned, clutching the meep in her hand, taking pleasure in its cozy warmth.

Despite their best effort, the man before them faded away. Punching the floor in frustration, John grunted "no! He was right here, and we couldn't save him! What a senseless loss of life, it's truly awful" despite his voice not wavering, there were tears falling from his eyes. Closing the man's eyes, he said in a hushed voice "rest easy now; your suffering is over, nothing can hurt you now. I'm just sorry that we couldn't save you...forgive me." Getting up slowly with his first aid kit, he returned to his seat in silence. Putting away his kit, he sat back down as he contemplated what had just happened.

Matt&Liam

As Liam continued to follow the blood trail as far as he could, Matt's eyes continued to scan over the city before him, though to no avail. With a heavy sigh, one of Matt's hands rose to grip the bridge of his nose as he fought of the encroaching headache. This was already too much for him, or at least more than he was prepared to deal with. It was enough that he had awoken to the revelations of his powers and that of his friends, but now add to it the fact other's had been granted this gift as well and now a wounded man...

"Matt." Liam's voice resounded over the phone, causing the dark haired male to divert his attention.

"What did you find?" He inquired, doing his best to seem unphased by his passing thoughts.

"Nothing but a pool of blood in an alley. Looks like whoever it was didn't stick around long enough to see his handiwork through."

"Of course. Couldn't risk getting caught. Any scent?"

"You really think I'm a dog, don't you?" Matt couldn't help but smirk at the annoyed comment, though a brief silence arose before Liam spoke once more, "Nothing, or at least not enough to go off of."

"Worth a shot. Now get out of there. Don't want to be there when the police arrive." Matt stated quickly, shutting his flip-phone and stuffing it into his pocket. As he glanced over his shoulder to the cafe from before, his form instantly wavier then vanish, finding the man standing before the cafe door a moment before opening the door and entering. Instantly his gaze fell upon the still man on the floor, his expression softening slightly, "Not everyday you witness a murder... Rough." He spoke loudly enough to be heard, looking about the room as he saw the two males over the body and the others looking on in horror or confusion. To be honest, this was his first corpse, and it was definitely unsettling for the man... But panicking wouldn't do anyone any good. Instead he waited, posting up at the front of the store as Liam made his ways back as well. It was only a short amount of time before the police showed up, and if anyone left- it might look like they were guilty. Sighing heavily, he'd close his eyes as he waited.

Ridiculous. The entire scenario was ridiculous. Ahri’s powers? Though Alexander knew that Erick wasn’t on drugs, he could see where their newfound friend would get that impression. It was a crazy thing to suggest that someone they had just met happened to have the same powers they did. He was about to say something, before two things happened, in rapid succession.

First, one of their fellow cafe-goers mentioned League. Loudly, wanting to be heard by the cafe. Alex looked at Erick, who gave a knowing nod. Alex sighed, “Of course you’re right. Why wouldn’t you be right?” Erick nodded again, and Alex looked around to observe the cafe, wondering which ones had powers, and which powers they had.

Then, almost more significantly, a man stumbled into the cafe. A bleeding lump of a man, who almost immediately crumpled to the floor. One of the first people to respond, Alex was to his feet in seconds, and got to the body right behind the woman who had been sitting beside him moments before. As more people crowded around, Alex took a step back, standing outside the circle around the body, watching with morbid interest as the man died. He was sick to his stomach. He'd never been able to handle the site of blood, not real blood. But he'd felt a strong need to see if there were anyway he could assist the dying man. Looking away from the scene, he glanced over his shoulder at Erick, who was still at the table, who hadn’t yet moved a muscle.

Erick watched the others rush to the door of the cafe, watched as his friend joined them. He couldn’t explain it, but he knew: knew that the man was dead. And for that reason, he just sat there. He was thinking, considering all the various things that had happened so far that day. All the power of the emperor, and yet he had no control over the situation. Though he wouldn’t admit it aloud, he wished he had Ezreal’s powers, like Alexander did. At least then, he could move himself far, far away from the problems at hand. And there were many.

He looked up to regard the man who mentioned that it wasn’t everyday you saw a murder. “Really? That’s what you choose to say? No, it’s not everyday that you a see a murder, and yes, it is rough.” He stood up now, drawing himself to his full height and shaking his head. “And now, we get the honor of sitting around here, with a dead, still-bleeding body until the cops get here so we can all give statements.” He walked over to the door and put a hand on the shoulder of Alexander, who looked up at his friend. “After the cops get here, we’ll go to your place. There’s more room than at mine, and whoever else wants to come, they’re welcome to.” He said, gesturing to the others near the body.

Alex nodded.

Sam Cross

There was a girl behind the woman with the glowing moon head that struck her interest in too many ways. There were wings, a meep, and boobs. Believe it or not, she noticed the least important first. Her mind wondered if the two woman had been in there doing something a bit naughty before she had come into the picture... or, hey, maybe she was in the middle of changing clothes! She didn't know the cause, but Sam wasn't about to complain. However, Sam did explore other things that were out of the ordinary, the first of which was the meep. She tried to rationalize that it was just a stuffed plushy toy thing, but she realized that it moved a little and made little noises in a way that only living things could. Sam could only wear an expression of full confusion. She wasn't scared or anything like that; she was made of sterner stuff, but shocked would be a more appropriate term of how she felt.

The woman, lacking a shirt but adding a meep, explained that they, as she had feared, were not cosplayers. The two women were real. It was with this The women turned and she gained another oddity: some wings. "Holy shit!" Sam said a bit too loudly, her hand flying to her mouth in shock. They were made of ice that was an azure blue and glittered in the light. In the back of her mind Sam sadly crossed out her naughty idea from earlier, realizing that the shirt was only gone because the woman had grown wings. Why did she have wings?!

The next sentence came to her as she realized how obvious it had been. With the Artemis girl and her glowing moon head and Claire with her dazzling crystalized wings. They were obviously the characters League of Legends. Then the last bit about her being one too struck her ears and she had work work at that for a moment. There was no way. I mean, sure! She couldn't be burned by fire and some wacko thing had happened with her coffee earlier today, but that didn't mean that she had the powers of a character from League of Legends! "Me? You think I'm one of you?" Her pitch was quite high and her mind was becoming overloaded as her world was basically turning upside down. The heat around her grew just a little greater as the intensity of this concerning array of negative emotions grew (and she was still completely unaware). "I mean, I've had some crazy stuff happen today, but I think what your saying might be a bit insane!" Sam said with disbelief elevating each of her words.

As the man's eyes waned before Leon's eyes, the lad's breathing heightened and his lips quivered with desperation whilst his hands trembled almost too pitifully. To see another life pass before him felt oddly cold and neutral; he couldn't feel anything, but that was what frightened the lad. Was he so numb already to the concept of death that he could not even shed a single tear? No, of course not. It was something more complex than this. However, the dying man's last warnings did echo out in Leon's mind. Monsters? The term was far too general, and while they were generally unaccepted in the classroom environment, a lot of images came to mind when one mentions 'monsters'-- and Leon was sure that they weren't pertaining to freakish humanoids with clubs for tails. Leon wasn't sure which made him feel more uneasy: the death or the warning. Everyone had started to settle down, now, but things were far from over. If anything, Leon wanted everyone out of here so that he could just return home, and sleep there while missing his three o'clock class. With those thoughts in mind, the lad stood up without a word, and got one of the thicker white table cloths from the storage room, and draped it over the deceased with respect. "Until the ambulance arrives." Leon muttered as he fetched his bloodstained clothes, and began to head for the washing machine-- after all, Wi-Hi Café had its own machine in the employee's restroom just beside the regular ones. "It would also be good if you guys returned to your homes where it will be safer."

Today was not the best day for him, truly. He got burned, insulted, traumatized (again), and a lot more, and it was just all before twelve in the afternoon. Oh, what fun would occur in the near few hours? Leon was not thrilled to know. Then again, the world just loves to keep proving him wrong, and it would happen just a few seconds in interval as he passed by the regular restrooms, just in time to see three women standing outside of the men and women's bathrooms. No, it wasn't the oddity of two women coming from the men's restroom that caught his attention. Rather, one of the women lacked a shirt, sported a pair of azure wings, with a dancing yellow plush doll (that almost looked like a certain caretaker's merciless projectiles) on her. It was the blue-eyed maiden that Leon saw earlier this morning!

"What the fu--?!" Leon stopped mid-curse, dropping the bloodied clothes to the ground. Leon quickly looked around, trying to see if people were on him. However, it only reminded the lad about a random yellow flash (that he could only assume came from one of the patrons which oddly looked like a certain caretaker's healing ability) and the random shield spawning mid-air. Now, Leon was eighty percent sure that these people around him were just like him as well. After all, the muffin-witch seemed to be undaunted by scalding coffee as well. "Y-you..." he sputtered, almost out of breath. Strangely enough, the area was hot and cold at the same time. "Diana... Anivia, and Annie..." He mumbled carelessly before calming himself. "I must have been traumatized more severely than I recall..." A nervous chuckle escaped his lips before he bent to pick up the dropped clothing. "Now, I'm seeing that videogame in everyday life... This is one hell of a coping mechanism."

Matt&Liam

Matt merely shrugged as the younger male spoke, choosing not to confront or argue with the man. It wasn't worth anyone's time, especially with the current situation. It wasn't long after then the door rung out again, the blonde male from before known as Liam stepping through as he took his place beside Matt. His face bore a subtle layer of sweat, which he quickly brushed off before rolling his shoulders as heaving a heavy sigh.

"Anyone see you?" Matt quized, closing his eyes as he lounged against the doorway.

Liam shook his head in response, "No, no one that I could see anyways. I wouldn't be surprised if the bastard was staking out the scene though." Liam glanced out past the front glass to the streets before the cafe, "The sooner we get back to your place, the better. It's safe to assume that if he did see me, he'll be following."

Matt clicked his tongue, opening his eyes slightly, "What a pain in the ass..." Liam nodded in agreement, "So, what do you think?" He looked forward into the cafe, his gaze flickering between those still in the room.

Liam fell silent for a moment, his gaze falling upon the suspected champions and the sudden frost growing from the restroom area. Pushing himself off of the frame, he'd extend an open hand to Matt, "Still have those business cards?"

Matt blinked for a second, nodding as he reached inside his coat. Pulling out a stack of white and red cardboard slips, he'd place the pile in his partners hands before turning and leaving the store, "I guess I should be preparing. After your done with your testimony, if anyone asks about me, tell them I ran after the man who did it and you haven't seen me since."

Liam couldn't help but smirk as his partner departed, "Right, Vox." As the darker haired male departed with another blink, Liam stepped forward into the cafe. Taking a moment, he'd begin passing out the business cards to the suspected individuals -intentionally face down- as he leaned forward and patted them on the shoulder while whispering, "Check it later. We'll be waiting." After everything was handed out, he'd intentionally place himself outside the door, drawing out his cigarette box and withdrawing a cylinder. Light up with a heavy drag, he'd sigh as he propped against the outer door frame.

Aelia Stark

She had to pull away from the dead body before her, covering her mouth in shock. It was something else, watching someone die right before your eyes. Yet... it vitalized her; she felt a surge of energy come forth from the corpse, penetrating her chest and making her much more awake than she had been. Aelia blinked her tear-clouded eyes, her mind going back to what that brunette told her. Could she really have Ahri's powers? Could this man have been killed at the hands of some monster... or someone like her? Her eyes went to the man who had punched the floor, wanting to comfort him, but she couldn't bring herself to touch his shoulder.

Aelia's head snapped back when she felt someone hand her a business card. She saw it lie face down on the floor, but she did not move to pick it up. Her body began to quiver as she noticed that something was occurring near the bathrooms, but she did not look back-- it was as if she was glued to her spot, her fingers digging into her shorts as she stared at the blood staining the ground. The tears returned as she shook violently, her eyes closing to block out the horrible sight in front of her. Confusion and fear were clouding her mind, and she could not think straight.

"I'm afraid," she whispered, finally taking the business card without looking at it. Her gaze instead settled on Erick, who was offering his place as a haven for those who did not feel safe. "My parents have been away on vacation for a while," she explained, her voice soft. It was true that she probably should stay at home, like that employee said, but she wanted company. "I'm going to be alone for the next two weeks... if I keep staying by myself, I'll probably end up like that poor man."

Erick looked at the girl who was openly admitted her fear, and he nodded. “Then you can stay with us, if you want. There’s an extra bed at Alex’s house, I can just crash on the couch, it’s what I usually do anyway…” He shrugged his shoulders absently, then frowned, realizing how strange it would seem to offer lodging to someone they had just met. “If you want. It’s best we stick together, I think. We don’t know who else has the powers. So… safety in numbers.” He explained, trying to make it seem less… strange that he would suggest that. Alexander touched his friend’s shoulder, rolling his eyes.

Look, man. Do we really want a bunch of people with, let me put this in layman’s terms, for those who may not fully grasp the gravity of the situation we’re in: fucking super powers staying in one place? Like, none of us know what we can do, fully, other than she can make people do whatever she wants, you can summon a sand soldier, and I can teleport.” Alex’s protests, though, were met by a dismissive gesture from Erick, and Alex sighed before he gave a nod. “Alright, fine. You’re the boss, man.

Erick took a step over to the girl who seemed to be taking it worse than everyone else and put a hand on her shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “I’m Erick, and that’s Alexander. We’re gonna go to his place, and then we can get this all… sorted. Maybe figure out what our powers can really do, see if there’s anything else we can uncover.” He looked down at the business card on the floor and picked it up, flipping it over and looking at the contents. “And we’ll call these guys, too.

Alex

Alex looked at the card then glanced up at the rest of the cafe from behind the counter. He would've left but getting into trouble with the police wasn't the best idea considering his record. It'd be best to stay until they arrived, testify, and go home. At least his work day was cut short. As soon as the thought came to him Alex felt bad, a guy had died and he was glad he didn't have to work as much? Still Alex only felt like he should feel bad, he didn't really. People died, life happened, it wasn't like the dead guy would get offended. Sighing Alex looked at the man with the cigarette who had handed out the cards and returned to staring at the card as he waited for officials to arrive. Why did it seem time was passing so slowly? Everything else was tuned out as Alex stared at the card without really seeing it anymore. Alex hadn't been given one but he'd snatched one anyway.

Artemis

Artemis considered the rapid events occurring around the cafe. First thing was to continue conversation with the flame women in front of her, "In fact I do believe you are one of.... 'us', so to speak. Though I don't know who you embody it is obviously some sort of champion with control over flame, likely Shyvana or An-" her statement was cut off by one of the staff finishing her speculation for her. It seemed the server thought he was hallucinating. Artemis raised her hand and a glimmer of moonlight appeared behind Leon and pushed him closer to her. "I'm afraid this is no coping mechanism. If my suspicions are correct then everyone in this cafe is the same. Have you noticed anything that would indicate similar powers of your own?" Artemis asked calmly, seeking to both keep the small group calm and gather information. She noticed that the glowing tattoo being in place made creating and moving the moonlight easily but also was slowly sapping her energy, like maintaining a light jog so she dispelled the effect returning her body to normal. Artemis wasn't sure how to explain how she did it she just did. Another conversation was going on, the dead man's body had been covered, the man with the strange spatial distortions left and his friend handed out cards before returning to a guard position at the door. Real life was fascinating at times.

Aelia Stark

So the two men were named Erick and Alexander. She had seen them around Darkwell before, but she had never spoken to them before. Fate was indeed a funny thing; who knew that Aelia was going to come to them, begging for help? Her cerulean gaze flickered to Erick, her frown deepening. At least she had some sort of protection from the "monsters" the man was talking about. They seemed trustworthy enough, at least, to her... Her gaze went to the dead body on the floor, and then the business card the strange man gave to her. For some reason, she wasn't sure if her life would ever be the same way again. Would she always be afraid of creatures attacking her on the streets, in her school, in her own home?

"Can we go now?" Aelia asked, her eyes becoming downcast again. It felt like it had been forever since she had left her apartment, and honestly, she felt like she was going to pass out from exhaustion. Her mind was under an extreme amount of pressure, and her body was sore and weak. Honestly, she wasn't even sure how she didn't pass out yet...

Sam Cross

The moon woman in front of her began to explain her reasoning behind why Sam was apart of this odd little band of Champions. She deduced that she must be, due to her fire abilities, Shyvana or--

A man (the man who had assisted her in cleaning her coffee) who had been walking by suddenly exclaimed, dropped some crimson drenched rags, and rushed over to the women. It seemed as if he didn't even need to have the situation explained. He was already very aware of the game, League of Legends. The question was: was he aware of the powers (perhaps his own) or was he just someone aware of the game and able to identify all of them as part of that game? The latter was a bit of a stretch. Someone who knew the game, but was unaware of the powers would likely identify them as cosplayers. Jumping the gun to super heroes was a bit crazy for anyone. He definitely knew something... and if he didn't that would mean bad news for them. Was there a kind of rule about keeping powers secret or something like that?

Leo the Lion (she now recalled his comical name) began to list the champion that each of them might be. When it came to her he instantly jumped to the conclusion of Annie. Artemis had even seemed like she was about to create the same assertion herself. Oh, nuh uh. There was no way that she was going to hold the powers of a little flaming girl and yell 'Yay! Tibbers!' everywhere. If that was the case, she would very much like a trade in or something because she despised that champion very much. Sam even vocalized her displeasure. "Hold up. Annie? Uh... do I look like I'm carrying a little bear and skipping around? Hell no." The woman said with a great deal of sass. "Now, Shyvana? That's more my style." A daredevil's grin creeped onto her lips as she thought of turning into a powerful, real, fire breathing dragon. On top of that, the champion was her main! She really hoped that she ended up being Shyvana instead of the 'Just-Press-R Princess'.

Sam's attention was drawn again as Artemis began to address Leo and interview him to see if he was truly part of their little League of Legends. During this, she saw the woman fade out her form and Sam really hoped that Claire would do the same (she was honestly surprised that the wings weren't drawing even more attention). However, that would just leave Claire a shirtless woman next to the bathroom of the cafe. Sam sighed, and thought to do the nice thing, despite how much it pained her. Sam took off her black, leather jacket that was worn and warm and offered it to the ice lady. It revealed her band T-shirt that read 'My Chemical Romance' that depicted an hourglass with red sand flowing through it. With her insulating jacket off, the heat was much more noticeable, but Sam didn't notice.

It was then that she felt a man creepily tap her shoulder, slip a business card in her hand facedown, and whisper, 'Check it later. We'll be waiting.' He did the same for the other three in the circle and then he walked away. What in the world? The guy literally just waltzed into a group with a shirtless and winged woman in it, sleazily passed out little cards (while whispering something quite cryptic), and just walked away like it was nothing. She turned the card over and it had a number on it and nothing else. What the heck? Did all of them just get an invitation by some kind of drug or sex ring? Or was the sketchy man from the FBI? Sam stared at the odd man with a piercing gaze of pure confusion, completely boggled by what had just happened. She did a bit of a twitch, recoiling her head back and squishing it in her shoulders, with her face showing the most comical 'what the heck?!" face, her hands coming up to give a shrug. "Ookay. Because that is totally normal!" She only made such a big deal about it because of how strange it was and because it seemed that no one had seemed to bat an eyelash yet. With this she shoved the card into a tight pocket in her jeans and huffed.

It was then that she saw a whir of sirens outside and flashing lights. What was this all about? Just play cool, Sam thought to herself. She whispered to the others of the circle, "Hey, let's meet outside after the cops get done doing whatever." With this, the woman rushed back to her seat and began store her muffin in her backpack and do the same for her laptop and its equipment. It was as she was doing this, with shock that she realized the cause of the police coming: there was a dead, stabbed body on the floor! There had been a dying man in the cafe and Sam hadn't even known about it?! All of the craziness with powers and everything must have made her completely unaware to basically everything. Well, she thought, at least you know you didn't do it this time.

The police went through procedure. They created a perimeter around the cafe with some yellow tape and got to work loading the body onto the ambulance. After that, they began to interview those of the cafe. Everyone told the same story about how he had just stumbled in, and the crime had obviously not been done in the establishment. Once the cops got a grasp on that, they began to speed through the interviews, asking only for names, contacts, and where everyone had been at the time of the murder. These questions had been easy for her to answer as she ate her muffin with her feet propped on a table (not really one to respect the authorities). It was pretty obvious to see that they weren't really seeing anyone within the cafe as a major suspect, but they were still covering their bases. After about thirty-minutes after they had arrived, they told Sam that she could go. Thus, with this she sat outside the cafe on a bench and awaited for her other Partners in Powers to be released as well.

Erick considered what their newfound friend was suggesting for a few moments. Did he want to deal with the police? Not really, and besides that, if they were to leave now it wasn’t like they could be framed for it, or anything. The security cameras of the cafe had clear footage of all three of them sitting at the table up until the moment the man entered the room. “Yeah, that’s fine.” He said, and then he reached down and took Aelia’s hand, standing to his feet and pulling her up as well. “Let’s get going, then.” He said, looking at Alex, who nodded.

It’s not too far from here, only a few blocks.” He explained, guiding Aelia by the hand as he left the cafe, Alex following behind them. In about fifteen minutes or so, Alex unlocked the door for them and let them in, waving his arm grandly at the house as he spoke to Aelia for the first time since their interactions in the cafe.

Mi casa es su casa,” he muttered, glancing over at the wall where he had arcane shifted earlier, still black and singed. “Gonna have to call the landlord about that one, I really didn’t want to call them until next week… Oh well. Make yourself at home. Get some snacks if you want, water or whatever. There’s like, yogurts and stuff. Just don’t eat my chips.

John

With his nerves still acting up on him, John ordered something sweet to chew on to calm himself down. While it didn't work, it at least took the edge off. When the police came by to get his statement, he gave it to them in a detached voice, still not fully able to comprehend what had just happened. 'An actual murder...this close to my home. How could this happen!? Is this going to happen again, or was this just a crime of passion? Is...is my family safe?' The thought of a member of his family sharing the same fate as the poor man lying in his own blood sent a chill down his spine. It was enough of a shock to send him bolting home...at least, if any on his family was at home right now (besides Danny, but he should be safe from a serial killer.) It was then that another thought came to him 'could this be connected to the shield?' If that was true though, it would most likely mean that he was directly connected to this 'am...I a danger to those around me? No, I refuse to believe that! Not only is it ridiculous, but it doesn't make any sense; how would me having a magic shield endanger those around me?' He was broken out of his mental ramblings by the sight of a card at his table '...when did that get there? Was I so engrossed in my own thoughts that I didn't notice someone walk right up to me?' John found that idea unsettling.

Claire

She observed the events taking place in front of her. Claire kept beside Artemis, fully aware of her exposure to the public, that awareness escalating into shyness when Leo entered the scene abruptly. She covered herself with her arms and shrinked behind Artemis, feeling flustered at the presence of a member of the opposite gender.

Claire stayed quiet and caught goth girl's eyes before she was offered the leather jacket which held the slightest hint of the scent of tobacco.
"Oh goodness, thank you! I'll give it back, I promise." Claire thanked her quietly before flapping her wings, shifting the air around them and mixing the hot and cold air together before dismissing them with a blue shimmer. She quickly put on the ruined shirt she had and then the leather jacket, relishing in its enveloping warmth. Just because she had a strong affinity for the cold, didn't mean she wasn't able to enjoy being warm now and then.
"You're really hot you know." Claire said to Sam after taking a moment to settle herself. "If you were to enter a room, I'd have to leave because I would probably faint after a while." She pulled the jacket tighter to herself, the meep squeaked like a toddler's rubber toy as it was pushed into the inside of the jacket and up against her. She decided she'll keep the little guy until she found the "Bard" it belonged too.

The police arrived and questioned her about the man that had stumbled into the cafe and died. She didn't know of the man's origins and wondered what he might be leaving behind. Maybe a wife and kids or a close group of friends? What sort of life did he lead, who was he exactly? Questions ran through her mind and unfortunately they would be left unanswered for now...

Would the card in her hand lead to any answers?

"We should go outside as well." She told Artemis and Leo. "Maybe some fresh air would help put us at ease a little bit." Claire looked at Leo as she made her suggestion.

Arthur couldn't handle the sight of blood and the weight of death, it hung in the air like a curse and made him queezy even as he vocalized his displeasure in the form of a low rumbling tuba noise. Defeated, denied speech, and saddened it was all he could do to sit quietly and watch the world turn upside down as more and more people seemed to turn up with freakish powers like his own. One woman had wings and.. A meep?
Arthur shook his head and rubbed his eyes to try and see if they received him but no, there it was dancing about the frozen winged girl in the leather shirt before it rested within the leather garment. For a brief moment he envied it but dismissed the thought as quickly as it had come.

No, this had all been too much for him. The pain and sadness in his face revealed more than words ever could but with the doorway blocked he would be forced to speak to the authorities. "speak" he chuckled to himself mockingly.
Inspiration hit him right when the two men handed out their cards and made him realize he DID have a way out he always had a way out! He stood up and moved to the far wall, briefly locking eyes with the Anivia person. He smiled and glanced at her chest, specifically the meep that pushed its way out with a playful ringing. The chime felt his sadness as it took a mournful ring to it, more meeps swarmed the first one to play their eerie song.
Arthurs portal swirled to life infront of him as he stepped through, arriving not at the back of the street but now on the roof of the store. His hands trembled as he fought the urge to scream out the injustice of it all. What good, the power to heal, when he could not heal the ones who truly needed it?
His hands clenched tight but one was not empty. In his right hand was the same instrument bard carried, 3 gems in the horn and one large ball that radiated a yellowish glow. The instrument demanded his attention, his use, to release the mysteries it held.
Arthur brought it to his lips and blew into the horn, the orb in the centre hovered in the air as 3 smaller balls orbited around it. The horn was deep and sent chills down his spine as the musical note reached far and wide. His fingers played a haunting melody that flowed from his soul, speaking to the universe of his anger and sorrow.
The last note ended and he fell to his knees grasping the instrument staring at the ground below him lost in thought.
Arthur did not notice the hundreds of little chime creatures circling him. Called by the beauty of the caretakers song and soul.

Liam

As the police made their rounds and completed their questionnaires, Liam stood before the door; waiting outside after they finished with him. He hid nothing from them, answering as honestly he could (within reason) though he knew this would be beyond them. If this was someone that had acquired 'gifts' like them...

With a heavy sigh, Liam shook his head, taking a cigarette from his pocket as he lit the cylinder. He was intentionally staying on the scene for the other's inside. They certainly had to have seen Matt's card by now, and a couple may have even caught on- or at least, so he hoped. Nothing about this scenario made sense, and even handing out cards randomly to a bunch of kids probably seemed out of place during this chaos. Still, he hoped at least a few would bite. Matt seemed to think letting these other roam about unchecked or unaccounted for would be disastrous, and Liam was inclined to agree. Especially after an unexplained murder...

As the thought began to drift from his mind, his gaze fell upon one of the suspected 'gifted'. It had been the woman that disappeared to the restrooms, leaving a man half drenched in his own sweat near she once was. Curious, he eyed her over, though doing his best to avoid her attention as he took a rather long drag. She looked to be near his age, though her attire and stance seemed to hint at a more assertive attitude. In Matt's words, he'd say she looked like a punk, but Liam was not one to comment. Instead, he began trekking around the perimeter in her direction, holding a hand up to wave her down.

"Yo!" He called out, attempting to alert her to his presence as he withdrew his hand and slipping it into his pocket. Once he was near, he'd come to a halt, turning his attention towards the cafe, "Rough morning, eh? Can't believe something like this could just happen out of the blue, and in broad-daylight no less." For a moment, his focused gaze waned into thoughtful stare, shifting over slightly closer as his shoulder was narrowly missing her own, "So, just between you and me. Brand, Annie, or Shy?" His gaze was clearly upon her now, casting a knowing visage all the while.

Aelia Stark

She didn't want to deal with the police, either. Knowing her, she would probably panic in their presence, and that would probably make her look much more suspicious than she was. Aelia allowed Erick to take her hand and lead her out of the cafe, remaining quiet as he did so. The strange man from before was standing near the door, and she did not dare make eye contact with him. Who knew; maybe he was the reason the man died. Maybe he was just luring them to a place so he could kill them all? Another tremble ran through her as she walked, watching the two men in front of her. Why was she going to two strange men's apartment? What if they kept her hostage, just like a horror movie?

Aelia was basically quaking by the time she reached the apartment, her eyes beginning to fill with tears. At least the blonde guy, Alex, was rather friendly towards her, deeming that his house was her own as well. They looked neighborly enough... maybe she should trust them a little more than she already was. She tried to stop shivering, taking a seat on the couch as she glanced warily around the home. It was certainly a nice house to live in. Her own was around the same size, but it was cozy enough for her.

"I appreciate the help," Aelia spoke softly at first, glancing up at Alex. However, as she spoke, her mind and body began to recognize that she was indeed safe and her voice gained volume. "I don't want to stay for too long. Maybe for a day or so. I don't want to be thought of as a leech."

Her eyes blinked once more, gazing up at Erick. "We should probably call the number on that business card," she pointed out, resting her hands on her lap. "Maybe the person knows more than we do."

Sam Cross

Going back a little bit, before she left to go to her seat, she was happy to see Claire pleased by her gift of a jacket. It looked a little odd on the other woman; a bit too big and a bit too punk for the girl, but she still made it look cute. Sam nodded her head at the promise the little bird woman said, not really worrying about it too much. She really liked that jacket, and thus expected it back, but she felt she could trust the woman to return it.

It was then that the cute woman said, 'you're really hot you know.' Sam had heard the same words spoken to her earlier that day by Leo the Lion and had took it with great insult, but when Claire said it, it was different. Sam, not knowing the context, blinked in surprise and the grunge woman felt a blush come to her cheeks. She was flattered, but she couldn't tell if the woman was compliamenting her or... flirting with her? If it was flirting, she was surprised! Sam wouldn't have taken this little woman to be so up front in flirty matters. She was a bit shocked and a little embarrassed (some really tender emotions coming from this usually hardened woman). However, it was then that the context was introduced and that Claire was simply stating that Sam was emanating a great deal of heat. In fact, this heat was apparently very uncomfortable for her. Oh. Well... honestly she should have been expecting that. How could she have been so childish to take it that way? The blush quickly faded back and Sam tried to gain her composure, hoping that Claire hadn't noticed. She tried to shake it off with a casual, "Oh, that's interesting. Didn't know that." With that she had walked away.

Now, sitting on the bench outside she thought back at how she had made a blushing fool of herself and she couldn't help but laugh at herself. You're a real odd ball, she thought to herself, still amused by how silly the situation had been. Claire probably hadn't noticed anything, but to Sam it had felt so apparent and so silly, like her slipping on a banana. She wasn't really the best with social situations and that kinda went to prove that point!

As she mused around, a sharp 'Yo!' broke through her thoughts. A man started to trot to her. Sam inwardly groaned to herself, as she was not interested in striking up a conversation. The man took his seat with her on the bench and struck up some small talk about the depressing nature of the death of the man in the cafe. How he couldn't believe it could happen... yada yada yada, blah blah blah. It was sad that the man was using a man's death to try to break the ice with her. It was so clear that talking about what had transpired was the least the man was interested in doing. It just sounded like the prologue that you scan over, but you basically skip at the start of a book. Just formalities leading up to what he really wanted to say. However, what he said next was the last thing that she had expected.

Up to that point she had been showing a blank, unamused expression to the man, hoping he would catch the hint, but when he leaned over (an action that she had reacted to with an expression of offended confusion) her face melded into one of careful knowing. It was now that she finally looked at the man, her eyes narrowing slightly as she finally absorbed his appearance. She recognized him! "Wait a sec. You're the creepy guy who handed out those cards, aren't you?" Sam's body leaned away from the man, now very uncomfortable and suspicious. "Who are you and what's your deal, man?" This whole power thing was new to her and she was unaware of who was in the club, who was not in the club, and who was an enemy. This guy could thus either be a fellow Champion being, someone who had seen her playing League and just simply wanted to know what champion she played, or it could be an enemy (like maybe he was an FBI agent who would abduct her and let the government do some weird shit to her). She couldn't be too careful. Sam wanted to know everything was safe before she went about assuming and revealing precious information.
