The moon woman in front of her began to explain her reasoning behind why Sam was apart of this odd little band of Champions. She deduced that she must be, due to her fire abilities, Shyvana or--
A man (the man who had assisted her in cleaning her coffee) who had been walking by suddenly exclaimed, dropped some crimson drenched rags, and rushed over to the women. It seemed as if he didn't even need to have the situation explained. He was already very aware of the game, League of Legends. The question was: was he aware of the powers (perhaps his own) or was he just someone aware of the game and able to identify all of them as part of that game? The latter was a bit of a stretch. Someone who knew the game, but was unaware of the powers would likely identify them as cosplayers. Jumping the gun to super heroes was a bit crazy for anyone. He definitely knew something... and if he didn't that would mean bad news for them. Was there a kind of rule about keeping powers secret or something like that?
Leo the Lion (she now recalled his comical name) began to list the champion that each of them might be. When it came to her he instantly jumped to the conclusion of Annie. Artemis had even seemed like she was about to create the same assertion herself. Oh, nuh uh. There was no way that she was going to hold the powers of a little flaming girl and yell 'Yay! Tibbers!' everywhere. If that was the case, she would very much like a trade in or something because she despised that champion very much. Sam even vocalized her displeasure. "
Hold up. Annie? Uh... do I look like I'm carrying a little bear and skipping around? Hell no." The woman said with a great deal of sass. "
Now, Shyvana? That's more my style." A daredevil's grin creeped onto her lips as she thought of turning into a powerful, real, fire breathing dragon. On top of that, the champion was her main! She really hoped that she ended up being Shyvana instead of the 'Just-Press-R Princess'.
Sam's attention was drawn again as Artemis began to address Leo and interview him to see if he was truly part of their little League of Legends. During this, she saw the woman fade out her form and Sam really hoped that Claire would do the same (she was honestly surprised that the wings weren't drawing even more attention). However, that would just leave Claire a shirtless woman next to the bathroom of the cafe. Sam sighed, and thought to do the nice thing, despite how much it pained her. Sam took off her black, leather jacket that was worn and warm and offered it to the ice lady. It revealed her band T-shirt that read 'My Chemical Romance' that depicted an hourglass with red sand flowing through it. With her insulating jacket off, the heat was much more noticeable, but Sam didn't notice.
It was then that she felt a man creepily tap her shoulder, slip a business card in her hand facedown, and whisper, 'Check it later. We'll be waiting.' He did the same for the other three in the circle and then he walked away. What in the world? The guy literally just waltzed into a group with a shirtless and winged woman in it, sleazily passed out little cards (while whispering something quite cryptic), and just walked away like it was nothing. She turned the card over and it had a number on it and nothing else. What the heck? Did all of them just get an invitation by some kind of drug or sex ring?
Or was the sketchy man from the FBI? Sam stared at the odd man with a piercing gaze of pure confusion, completely boggled by what had just happened. She did a bit of a twitch, recoiling her head back and squishing it in her shoulders, with her face showing the most comical 'what the heck?!" face, her hands coming up to give a shrug. "
Ookay. Because that is totally normal!" She only made such a big deal about it because of how strange it was and because it seemed that no one had seemed to bat an eyelash yet. With this she shoved the card into a tight pocket in her jeans and huffed.
It was then that she saw a whir of sirens outside and flashing lights. What was this all about?
Just play cool, Sam thought to herself. She whispered to the others of the circle, "
Hey, let's meet outside after the cops get done doing whatever." With this, the woman rushed back to her seat and began store her muffin in her backpack and do the same for her laptop and its equipment. It was as she was doing this, with shock that she realized the cause of the police coming: there was a dead, stabbed body on the floor! There had been a dying man in the cafe and Sam hadn't even known about it?! All of the craziness with powers and everything must have made her completely unaware to basically everything.
Well, she thought,
at least you know you didn't do it this time. The police went through procedure. They created a perimeter around the cafe with some yellow tape and got to work loading the body onto the ambulance. After that, they began to interview those of the cafe. Everyone told the same story about how he had just stumbled in, and the crime had obviously not been done in the establishment. Once the cops got a grasp on that, they began to speed through the interviews, asking only for names, contacts, and where everyone had been at the time of the murder. These questions had been easy for her to answer as she ate her muffin with her feet propped on a table (not really one to respect the authorities). It was pretty obvious to see that they weren't really seeing anyone within the cafe as a major suspect, but they were still covering their bases. After about thirty-minutes after they had arrived, they told Sam that she could go. Thus, with this she sat outside the cafe on a bench and awaited for her other Partners in Powers to be released as well.
