Salamon managed to sneak out of the room and followed Angemon through the hallways up until Kaburterimon and the other Digidestined became visible, realizing this most likely meant Angemon wouldn't go out and fight she hightailed it back and ran into the room completely unnoticed as far as she knew.

Hawkmon who did notice the Rookie Digimon leaving but didn't say anything because he knew her reasons was relieved to see her return unharmed and flew over to her while Angemon was talking about the current situation in Digiworld. "You're lucky, you could have been killed." He whispered to her. "As if, Angemon would have protected me."

After the Angel Digimon was finished talking one of the newcomers and his Digimon started arguing, part of Danny wanted to interfere but some had good points and probably needed to work things out for themselves in their own way so he seemingly ignored them. "While what you said was no doubt important Angemon, I think it's better to focus on more practical matters. For example how are we supposed to use these Digivices?"

Listening to the tale of this world, Nonna forced herself to hold the sigh until the very last moment - and what a sigh it was. "So, in a nutshell. What you have is five digimon calling shots for everybody. What happens is that one out of five that could possibly challenge them on equal grounds decides to enter a fight with 20% odds of success, and as his last wish after his nigh-inevitable failure, he tells the powerful being with the ability to bend barriers between worlds not to erase the evil, but to bring a couple of kids in to do the fighting? Yeah, no."

Nonna finished her summary with her head tilted to the side and stupid-cheeky smile on her face. "If I understand correctly, none of you are permanently destroyed if you are defeated. Which leads me to wonder - if most of you got up in arms, how could possibly only five digimon regardless of power stand up to the rest of the world throwing hell their way, when it would come to you at little cost in life. If you intend to win a war without sacrifices, clinging to the hope of mighty heroes rising and solving your problems for you, you have a rough wake up scheduled." the Russian sneered, waiting for the digimon to answer before she continued.

"Oh well...this is a thing then...fighting a losing fight against people bigger guys than us can't take down? I guess we're the last reserves. I don't like this but...but I'll try I have to I guess I can't go home otherwise...even if I could I would feel pretty dirty leaving you guys alone. I..just don't know where we're going to start. This big war...this big chess match. It's all new to me and I don't think Kapurimon here is all too different from me. I won't let you guys down though if all possible." Derrick said with conviction as Kapurimon looked over to the bickering duo. "Would you two let it off? He's your partner that's the end of the question. Even if he is or is not digidestined there is still the fact that we need all the help we can get. Derrick is not the ideal partner himself from what i've seen. He's cowardly and too focused on his own personal interests. But he is offering the help he can and that's good enough for me. I don't intend to see us fail. So please put down your differences and listen to our friends here and let's work together for the betterment of our world and theirs. If we fight one another we only gain more handicaps against the evil ones." Kapurimon stated firmly and loudly too them all. Derrick couldn't contest that his actions so far were not cowardly but he knew he wasn't no coward. "Yeah what the puff ball said."

"You all have very good questions and thoughts about the current state of affairs in our world, and quite justified they are. I, however, shall answer all of them in person."

The voice came out of nowhere, it surprised everyone, the Digimon more than us. The voice, it seemed so familiar, he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was... then it hit him, it was the same voice he heard when he picked up the Digivice thing!

"Lord Azulongmon! It... it is an honor, but why do you want to speak to them personally?"

"There are a few things I must clear up, mistakes I have made both in the past and present. I wish to make up for them here."

Azulongmon. From the sound of him he seemed to be like a god of the Digital World. But Nonna had raised a solid point: why does he do nothing as the Digital World suffers?

"Firstly, to you, Nonna Ivanova, you have a good point in our flaw. Although I and the other Sovereigns have the power to end this suffering, we are powerless in almost all aspects of this world's fate. We are merely the watchers, we do not interfere unless it is something only we can bring about, such as those devices you now carry. Only we could create those, as we have over many generations."

I kind of understood what he meant, that they were only to observe unless their power was absolutely necessary, meaning there was hope for this world after all.

"To you, Daniel Stone, the process of Digivolution is normally a natural but painstaking process for Digimon. You humans have gained the power to help your Digimon digivolve instantaneously however. It is much simpler than many believe, it requires only a strong bond with your Digimon Partner. I know Brent Toruya has already accomplished this feat, which is impressive for the short time they had been together. It will be something you will discover in time, some quicker than others."

Brent seemed moderately surprised by this, thinking this was something that anyone with a Digivice could do anytime. Turns out it was deeper than he thought. The voice continued.

"Derrick Quinn, you are correct. In your current states, you will not fare well against the Council. As I stated before, however, the process of Digivolution is something that will come to you naturally, and there are more forms that you can discover together with your partners, especially through the Digital Memories, which are scattered, hidden across the Digital World, often in plain sight."

Those Digital Memories again, apparently many Digimon have them, even ours. And more forms, the ones he's heard of so far are Rookie and Champion, he knows that there is at least one lower than Rookie, maybe too by the look of that one girls Digimon.

"And lastly, Kazero Tu'rok, I sincerely apologize, but not for the reason you think. You see, it appears that both you and your cousin, Kamina, were to be Digidestined. The Digivices, however, aren't the smartest things in the Digital World, and probably confused your DNA, attaching themselves to the wrong people. However, there is nothing we can do about that now, but I can say one thing. The DNA that you and Kamina share should be strong enough to allow you to use the Digivice along with Tsunomon, and hopefully you can sort this out when you find your cousin."

"On that note, I would like to let this out: Ten Digivices were sent out, and all ten Digidestined were brought to the Digital World. Eight stand before me, one is still out there somewhere, and one has gone black..."

So there were two more Digidestined still out there, one a Cousin to the one called Kazero. His Digimon "Partner" still didn't seem to pleased with this news, but Kazero seemd more optimistic.

"I'm afraid that is all I can tell you for now, other matters call me back to the other Sovereigns. Digidestined, the fate of this world and yours rests in your hands, good luck."

After that there was silence, everyone's questions having been somewhat answered by the voice who identified as Azulongmon, a "Sovereign" of the Digital World as he called himself. There were still a few things I was unsure of, but It was already too late to ask him.

Somewhere in the Digital World stands the fortress of the Council of Five. Standing over all of the Digital World, the Council reigns supreme over the Digimon. After the brief argument the council endured earlier, they have regained their senses and are once again formulating a plan to end this "Resistance" that calls themselves the Defenders of the Light. Diaboromon had not yet returned from his self appointed mission, so the council held a meeting without him. They were just about to begin when one of their minions returned with something.

"My masters, I return from the realm of the humans to report a partial failure. I attacked them as planned, but one escaped. The other, however..."

The council saw what he had returned with now, and this brought a smile to even their faces. Now they have the absolute power to defeat the resistance once and for all.

"While Nonna is right about some things namely that this isn't our fight and we are in fact in more danger then the Digimon seeing as we don't get reborn, I agree with what Derrick said." If Danny was entirely honest with himself he had made his decision the second he heard the explosion, cause it was that point that he realized that digital or not Digimon were still living creatures. "That said I disagree with the Sovereigns' decision not too get involved. I understand that you can't help out with every little thing, but this is a serious matter."

"I know many a legend where the godlike being fell oblivious to the world and someone eventually rose to be equal enough to them to threaten them, and by that point it was far too late. I hope these Soveregins are very vigilant in their watching. But waiting that long will not quite cut it, nor will ten people with strange phones. If you want to be free, you have to fight for it. I'm Russian and I know my history, I understand these things... Both from the oppressed and oppressor point of view." Nonna said somewhat less angrily, withdrawing a little to whisper something to Kapurimon.

The duet rose and left to discuss something out of earshot. "Are you happy with this?" Nonna asked Kapurimon. The digimon frowned and thought for a healthy while. "No." she said eventually, "I left with the intention of finding a new queen for our empire! Either we will defeat our enemy on our own, or our kingdom shall perish among the weak!" she said bravely, "And now that I found you-" she added with a faint smile, "-I can become our new queen, and lead my people to triumph. And then, the Chessmon will be revered as the shield that protects the people!"

Nonna blinked once, and then a chuckled. The laughter was born somewhere in her heel and before it got through to her lips, it picked up quite a lot of strength. She raised the fuzzy digimon in front of her, looking her in the eyes, "And I will rather work on my own than to follow any of them. Oh, We are going to get along nicely, you and I. Is it decided then? We will remake the world to suit our ideals?" she asked, feeling a little strange. Sure, this was a dangerous game. They could very well kill her, and honestly even believing anything of this was actually real was probably just insanity raging in her head. But she has never felt this excited about something. On that sliver of a chance this was reality, she allowed herself to believe that she might - just might - have been destined to come here, and meet this digimon as her partner.

"We shall!" Kapurimon cheered, and was surrounded by a golden glow. Nonna noticed the digivice strapped to her belt beeping and glowing and promptly nearly dropped her as she digivolved into Pawnchessmon again, along with gaining considerable weight. Setting the digimon down on the ground, the Russian smiled: "I see you have your fighting spirit back. Good." the girl smiled. "But... How do we do?" Pawnchessmon asked, scratching her helmeted head. "No we're just a pawn on a very big board. We need more mon!"

A grin flashed over Nonna's face. "Yes, I do intend to present our reason for leaving as such. And of course, that will be the first thing we try to do. It is a lesson the digimon will have to learn sooner or later, or in the end, this will happen again as soon as another digimon climbs to power. However, there are other options... But we can talk about that later. I need to think on it a little myself before sharing. Let us go tell our hosts." Nodding, the mon and the girl turned back to return to their audience.

Nonna didn't quite know whether she was still sane. Not with the scheme that has been forming in her head. But whether it was a sign of confidence or insanity, she was smiling. Because, she was about to start the greatest strategy game of her life.

"We have come to inform you, that we will not be joining up with you. As Azulongmon said, the digidestined had to have been called many times before, and if nothing changes, we would not be the last ones either." And I will not be just one of the many. she thought, "So we will chose a different approach." she said instead, "We intend to rally the digimon, create a proper resistance by the definition of the word, none of this... religious belief in prophecies that are stopgap and temporary measure at best."

Nonna finished delivering their decision, and was a little surprised when Pawnchessmon spoke up as well: "Follow us if you wish, we won't stop you. Leaders can't be appointed or foretold - they are chosen." the chessmon said and the two of them turned on their heels, walking out the way they came.

Recovering from Tsunomon's headbutt, Kazero was a little addled. He didn't quite catch everything else that was said specifically until Azulongmon appeared and everyone went silent. When Azulongmon spoke directly to him, Kazero became inspired by Azulongmon's words. He smiled at first but then instantly exhaled. He was relieved that Azulongmon had justified his words from his outburst. Kazero knew he was pretty much talking out of his ass, making logic leaps and bold statement he couldn't back up. It didn't quite explain everything, but from Kazero's understanding, he could still work as a digidestined even if Kamina was the one selected. He made the mistake of looking over at Tsunomon, whose silent, intense, pensive stare was beaming a message straight into Kazero's brain that went something along the lines of 'Don't think this makes everything okay.' Kazero sighed.

"Look man. You already headbutted me and I stood back up. I didn't even cry. Azulongmon said that I even count as a digidestined!" appealed Kazero.

"The digidestined tamers and their partner digimon have a bond. It's how I knew from the very moment I met you that you were not the one I was waiting for. Being a digidestined does not mean you were called for the task at hand. If you were, then where is your own digimon partner and digivice?" replied Tsunomon. Kazero open his mouth, but realised he had not rebuttal for that. But then he thought a little harder.

"I don't have one." replied Kazero, with a seemingly unwarranted confidence and pride. "Because my role wasn't be here. My role was to be here in case Kamina couldn't. If Kamina was ever in a position where he couldn't make it to the digital world, I bet I'd be called as a reserve. That's my digi-destiny."

"I see. So you believe that it wasn't simply an accident that transported you here, but that you were meant to carry on in the place of my true tamer?" parroted Tsunomon in disbelief. Kazero shrugged his shoulders with a modest nod, not sure where Tsunomon was going with this. "Digivolve." Kazero looked left and right hoping the answer might be hanging around the conference room. "You heard my proposal. If you can use the digivice to restore my power back to a Gabumon, I will accept you as my substitute tamer and it will be the last thing I ever say on the matter."

"Oh, is that it. Okay then!" replied Kazero upbeat. He fished into his pocket to take out the digivice and pointed it at Tsunomon. "Digivolve!" he commanded, with nothing happening. Kazero put up his index finger to ask Tsunomon for a moment. He chanted under his breath, making a prayer to the gods before shaking the digivice in his hand like he was rolling dice. "Digivolve!" again nothing happened. Tsunomon turn his back and walked off into one of the other rooms within the faculty. "W-w-wait! I've almost got it I swear!" persisted Kazero running after him.

So a lot had happened in the past few minutes, the lone Russian had left with PawnChessmon, and Kazero and Tsunomon were bickering it seemed once again. And we were the ones destined to save the Digital World...

"Tsunomon is at it again... He's always been more uptight than I was, as long as we've been brothers."

"So that, Tsunomon right, he's your brother?"

Gabumon nodded in return, looking over to the doorway the twosome had gone through. He had some private worries about them, knowing his brother well. He had a knack for getting himself into trouble because of his one minded approach to everything. He'd keep them private for now, though, he didn't want to disrupt the mood any more than it already had been.

"Hey Agumon, don't you have a brother as well?"

"Yeah, I'm not sure what he's doing right now though... I haven't heard from him in a while. We haven't kept in contact for a bit."

"I guess you guys are lucky, I don't have any brothers or sisters, i'm an only child."

I looked around at who was left in the room now. The boy with a Kapurimon, now I know as Derrick, a boy with a Digimon they call Gizamon, a girl with a Digimon called Conomon, there was Danny with Hawkmon and Salamon, and Annaliese and Tinkermon. What could a ragtag group of kids like us have that could save this world? Apparently something if everyone believed in this so much. Then I remembered what I had done with Agumon and Gabumon, Digivolving they called it. I looked down at the strange orange device on my belt.

"I think I get now why Kazero and Tsunomon can't get digivolution to work... Azulongmon said a strong bond is necessary for it to work right? Those two are anything but close. The rest of them though... I'm not sure."

After Azulongmon had said what he said and left, Angemon, Beelzemon, and Kabuterimon had left to another chamber. Inside was the small fox-tailed purple Digimon referred to as Dorumon.

"It really is hard to believe the losses we've taken these last months. First Ophanimon, then Leomon, and even Alphamon... At least we have hope in the Digidestined."

"I'm not sure about a few of them, that one girl Nonna just up and walked out of here with PawnChessmon, and there are still two Digidestined missing."

"We know what the Digidestined are capable of, If they can find the missing DigiMemories this world will be saved. That, however is something they must learn on their own. I've told them of their existance, and Azulongon told them of their own Digimon's existance. After today, they're all on their own for that journey."

"So we have to sit around and wait for these kids to find those little cards to save the world? You know we can't hold out that long!"

"We have no choice, Beelzemon, If we are to rid the world of this evil, they are our only hope..."

In the fortress of the Council of Five, they are examining their new toy. A young human boy, and a young In-Training Digimon too.

"I do hope you didn't break him too much, Devimon, if so I'd have to break YOU."

"I... I did only what you said to do, Lord Myotismon, pacify them and bring them back here... those blasted devices knocked one of them into a river and I couldn't find him again. When I came back to this world, the little punk here attacked me, so I knocked him out and brought him too."

"That "Little Punk" is obviously this Digidestined's partner Digimon, cute to say the least. Lock them up downstairs until they wake up, then begin the act."

"Yes, Lord Piedmon!"

Devimon followed his dark lords orders, and locked the twosome away in the dungeon, making extra sure the Digivice was placed well out of reach.

"Excuse me sir I don't want to seem too pushy by asking this but what's our first course of action? Are we going to be trained? Or is there a place we need to go too? You can't expect Kapurimon to fight in this current state. I don't even know how this little dude will become a viable threat no offensive little dude. You said something to my amigo over there but what is that 'digivolve' thing even happen? Is there some weird incantation or code were supposed to input into those digivice things we got? I want to help but like I said I don't know how. I need an object to work towards with a path leading them or at least starting there. My grandfather told me that the best way to get something done was too see it through too the end and double check your work. I don't know where to even start though. This whole council of evil business seems like something out of a bad comic book. But I guess we're going to have to fight them eventually so it only makes sense for someone to show us the per-verbal yellow brick road." Derrick said as he fidgeted in place as Kapurimon glared at his companions at the mention he was weak. The little fuzzball was not just some little rodent that could be pushed around he had potential in him to beat any digimon and Kapurimon intended to show Derrick Quinn and the others that he could do so. "I told you Derrick we'll work together I know that things seem weird now but they'll make sense in time."

As they exited through the hidden entrance, Pawnchessmon looked over her shoulder. "It doesn't look like anyone else is coming. So much for our first rally." the digimon sighed, looking at Nonna for an opinion. The mon couldn't put her finger on it, but her partner seemed troubled by something. She didn't need to know her for long time to know where that frown on the Russian's face came from.

"I never intended to go with it in the first place. Sure, we can try, but it will not be enough. If those powerful enough to form a resistance group refuse to listen, what chance do we have of convincing those that are too weak to fight in the first place? No. We'll have to go about this differently." Nonna thought out loud, checking that they walked far enough not to be overheard.

Looking directly at Pawnchessmon, she took the digimon's hands in her own. "How dedicated are you to this dream? Enough to risk your life? Enough to risk your name being forever slandered if we fail? Enough to be considered a monster by your friends for quite some time?" Nonna asked, her expression serious, but her icy blue eyes twinkling.

Pawnchessmon thought for a while, but not about her answer. Rather, what the human meant. She understood their lives would be on the line, more so now that they broke off from the others, but why bring out their reputation specifically? They couldn't be worse than the coucnil, could they? Wait a second...

Pawnchessmon twitched and gripped Nonna's hands, making the girl chuckle. "You figured it out?" she smiled, "Heh, as expected of someone to partner up with me." Pawnchessmon shook her head. "You... you are crazy! But... If we can do it..." the mon looked to the ground, deep in thought. When she looked back up, her posture changed. She stood straight, looked straight into Nonna's eyes, and nodded.

Few hours of walking later, the duo reached their target. A village that according to Pawnchessmon was recently captured by the council. Indeed, they could see armed digimon running around form their cover. As Pawnchessmon revealed, they were a group of Gazimon and Goblimon. "Oh well, no sense going about this softly. We want to draw eyes to us in the end. Shall we?" Nonna asked, and after receiving a nod, the two walked into the enemy territory in broad daylight.

To say that they were unexpected would be monumental understatement, given the slack jaws they have received from the conquerors. "He-hey! Tis one o'dem humans! Ged'dem!" a goblimon shouted and charged. There was a metal ching, and a second after he dissolved into bits as Pawnchessmon's spear ran straight through him. The Gazimon was a bit smarter, thinking he could get Pawnchessmon to go willingly into custody if he threatened the digidestined. With anyone but Nonna, that would have probably worked.

The Russian's sword sliced through the air and took one of the bunny-cat mix looking digimon's ears clean off, sending him to the ground clutching the wound. "That's far enough." said a new voice. When the duo turned around, they saw a big, green orc looking digimon with a bone club for a weapon. "I don't know what you were thinking coming here, but you will not be leaving." Ogremon growled, "The council will be pleased when you are caught!"

The smirk on Nonna's face made Ogremon blink. She was but a human, but something about this one looked downright dangerous. His suspicion was confirmed right away, when the human reversed her grip on her weapon and plunged it straight into the Gazimon's gut, extinguishing what life was left in him. But what made Ogremon feel a shiver down his spine was the stone cold expression on her face - now, Ogremon always liked to fight. To him, it felt exhilarating to triumph over an opponent, to demonstrate that once again his strength was superior. But this human - she vanquished a beaten opponent and didn't even blink. She didn't draw pleasure from the kill, in fact, she brushed it off as if it was daily bread.

"Caught? As if you can. But allow me to put your mind at ease." Nonna said, a hint of a smile appearing on her face.

"We came to sign up."

"Shouldn't we go after them?" Salamon was clearly worried about the two teams that just left. "We won't be able to help either of them. Kazero and Tsunomon need to solve things on their own, and Nonna had made up her mind to the point that just words won't convince her." The bird Digimon knew how his partner felt but they had to focus at the bigger picture. Hawkmon is right and besides Derrick's comment of training is also true, the way we are we can't do anything." While Danny agreed with Hawkmon he still felt he was abandoning the four who had just left and spent a few seconds staring at the exit.

In what could only be described as an empty storeroom, Tsunomon watch Kazero, outside of the gaze and distraction of others attempt to force a digivolution. Of course, Kazero had been consistently unsuccessful, but Tsunomon didn't feel the need to tell him why just yet. As with many things that could give Kazero context, Tsunomon kept many secrets from his substitute tamer. Kazero sat down on the cold cement floor and held out the digivice in front of him and focused, specifically on the attack in the real world when the light counteracted Devimon's strike. He tried to recapture from memory the sensation of a portion of that light being absorbed into him. The digivice began to glow and powered up. At the same time Kazero was concentrating so hard on channeling that light that his nose began to bleed. Tsunomon instantly became overcome with concern.

"Stop, desist at once!" he commanded, hopping up and down in Kazero's lap. It naturally shook Kazero out of his focus. Kazero was so entranced with what he was doing he snapped back into reality like waking from a dream. He didn't know Tsunomon was in his lap any more than he knew he was bleeding. "This is a waste of time. You won't be able to initiate digivolution unless you have the correct-"

"Digimemories." interrupted Kazero with a blank face. Tsunomon was astounded and almost rolled back and fell out of Kazero's lap.

"Yes... how in the world did you know that?" asked Tsunomon, finally the one without answers.

"I... you knew it. The light you sent. A part of it was absorbed into me and the rest into Kamina. That's why you can't access it from the digivice. I guess digimemories; they must be like data in our world. Power and information all at once. When I was channelling it back into the digivice, it was like watching a documentary of your memories. I can't recall it frame-for-frame, but even if I give you the movie file back, I still remember watching it. I remember your memory now, like a copy." Tsunomon marvelled at Kazero's enlightenment. Kazero wasn't even looking at Tsunomon at this point, but staring off into a wall. "Huh, I'm bleeding... from the nose. That's not good," mumbled Kazero as he began to dab at it with his t-shirt.

"W-well, correct. We digimon are data. We do not naturally grow with time as you humans can. We need data to adapt and change. Any data in general will improve something, but in order to evolve you need precise data. The digi memories. Digimemories only work with specific digimon and allow them to digivolve to a new state."

"Like patches."

"Correct. But they are generally uncommon. It's rare to find more than one type naturally and I already used mine to protect you two in the real world-"

"And your brother Gabumon already has one too..." interjected Kazero. Tsunomon wrinkled his face, going silent. "...What?"

"I don't appreciate that I have involuntarily shared any information with you at all, never mind personal history. I feel invaded." remarked Tsunomon.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know that was going to happen. But don't you feel better knowing we have a connection now?" insisted Kazero with a smile. Tsunomon stayed silent. Kazero sigh, dabbing the last of the blood and sniffing to make sure he could breath normally. "We need data. This mission needs me to be like Kamina, Kamina needed you and you need data. The way I see it, until we can get some data we're stuck being babysat by everyone else. So let's go get some data."

"Hold on! I just said that any data won't do!" Tsunomon rebutted, hopping in front of Kazero as the youngster got up to walk away.

"For normal digimon, yes. But we're the digidestined. I just channeled data from my body into a digivice before I even knew what I was doing. I bet... I bet with enough data this thing could make a brand new gabumon digimemory!" devised Kazero.

"That's idiotic to say the least. Secondly, you sustained a hemorrhage just putting back part of my digimemory into a digivice that wasn't meant for you. Even if what you say is possible, you might die in the process!" expressed Tsunomon. Kazero raised his eyebrows and softened his expression a little.

"Hey man, I didn't know you cared!" replied Kazero, stopping down to Tsunomon.

"I don't. But that doesn't make me comfortable with civilian blood on my hands. Power obtained by the lives of the weak makes me no better than the digimon we stand against." explained Tsunomon. Kazero whistled.

"That was pretty badass Tsunomon. Honour means a lot to you. I'm guessing it goes without saying you also don't want to ask anyone for help... it's not like they'd let us wander out there alone anyway. If you know where we might be able to get our hands on some data, I promise to stay alive long enough to get you that digimemory. And please... the amount of times I've been beaten up, a nosebleed is nothing." bragged Kazero self deprecatingly. Tsunomon turned away, hopping towards the door.

"There is nothing impressive about getting beaten up." quipped Tsunomon.

"Then you haven't seen me get beaten up," began Kazero, before regaling Tsunomon with some of the more traumatic events from his childhood.

A boy with blue hair, glasses, and a blue jacket wandered through the woods as he let out a big sigh. "Are you sure we'll find a village in this direction?" the boy called out as he looked behind him. A little creature that looked like a 'sun' with a little flame above its head floated by him. "Yes I'm sure of it Leo! Come on we're almost there!" Leo let out a big sigh as he continued to walk through the forest. "Sunmon you had better be right about this." Leo said as he brushes some leaves out of his path. Once doing so he spots a small digivillage off in the distance. "Huh, guess you were right about this." Leo said somewhat shocked. "I wonder if we can find some other humans in the village? I hope so I need some actual human interaction.." He thought to himself as he looked down at the digivice attacked to his belt "Come on lets go!" Sunmon exclaimed as he rushed to the village with Leo following slowly behind. Meet Leo Kisenagi. A boy from Japan who is half japanese and half american. Why is he talking about seeing "humans" and going into a village. Well if you couldn't already tell by the creature known as Sunmon, Leo isn't in Japan or well isn't on earth anymore. Leo is currently in the Digital World. It was there he met his digimon partner, Sunmon. Wait whats a Digimon you ask? Well a Digimon, short for digital monster, are creatures made entirely of data thats just the short explanation, not the best at long ones hehe. Anyways why is Leo in the digital world? We will soon find out.

"I agree with that, Danny, we barely know anything about Digimon or the Digital World right now. Probably the first step is to try to Digivolve the rest of your Digimon to... what level are you two at?"

"Well, right now me and Gabumon are at the Rookie Level. The things we Digivolved into earlier were our Champion Levels. Before Rookie is In-Training, like Kapurimon and Tsunomon. The level before that, like Conomon, is the Fresh Level."

"After Champion comes Ultimate Level, after that is Mega Level, supposedly the highest level a Digimon can attain. But, i've heard rumors of Digimon that can surpass that level, like the Legendary Knights."

Interesting, so there were many levels that a Digimon can attain in this world. And afterwards they can revert to previous forms.

"Azulongmon said that only a strong bond, and probably these devices, are necessary to complete Digivolution... I say we go find an empty chamber and try to do some Digivolving!"

"I'm with ya, partner, I'd love to be able to Digivolve to Greymon again, it felt amazing having so much power!"

"We should get the practice in while we can, we don't want to fail on a Digivolution on the battlefield. And... the power was pretty sweet."

Brent stood up and began walking over towards the door, with Agumon and Gabumon behind him. He looked back to everyone else and waved them onward.

"Come on guys, you wanna learn how to do this right? Well, let's practice!"

Devimon was really getting bored just sitting down here watching these brats sleep. While he'd never disobey a direct order from the Council, they never said he had to enjoy it. He gazed at the Digivice, casually tossing it up and down in the air.

"To think, this thing could turn that Korromon into something like WarGreymon, amazing if you think about it... and i'm starting to talk to myself, great..."

He heard something behind him, something beginning to stir. He put down the Digivice and ran to the stairwell that led to the main chamber, yelling upward to his masters.

"Lords Myotismon, Piedmon, Cherubimon, Tactimon, I believe the Digidestined is beginning to awaken!"

The Four of the Five Council there casually strolled down the stairwell, eager to meet their new protege, their soon to be weapon of mass destruction.

All too easy. That was all Diaboromon could think after his decimation of this village that had been harboring Digimon Rebels. There was nothing left standing, no building, no enemy Digimon. This day couldn't get much better, getting to kill Leomon, ridding yet another area of the Rebels, what else could happen? A couple of Goblimon, Gazimon, and an Ogremon, all troops under his command, came forward with something.

"Lord Diaboromon, we have, "Captured" a human, but it's acting kind of weird. It wants to join us it says."

Diaboromon looked over to the Human, a female by the looks of it. With it was a Black PawnChessmon, apparently a survivor of the kingdom he had personally destroyed mere weeks ago (After Black QueenChessmon was found to be a sympathizer of these rebel movements).

"Interesting... Come here, Human, I must say I'm glad you've made the right decision here today, joining the force that would be the most likely to succeed in this war."

He happened to catch something out of the corner of his eye, a small blue bipedal Digimon attempting to hide behind a fallen tree.

"So pathetic, Ogremon, take care of that pest over there would you?"

"Yes Lord Diaboromon!"

Ogremon and his troops began chasing the now fleeing Digimon, leaving Diaboromon all alone with this Human.

"How pleased the others will be to know that one of the Digidestined has willingly joined our cause, after my troops all return we shall return to our fortress."

Diaboromon was still weary of this human, he had suspicions about her, but she didn't seem the type to make something like this up. She had a confident posture and look in her eyes, something that impressed him. He would still be careful, in this day and age, trust is something often taken for granted, and used against you.

"Captured? Careful Ogremon, don't put too much credit on your shoulders, or you will collapse under its weight." Nonna sneered. It was hard to be keeping her composure though. Sure, Kabuterimon was big. But it was still a bug, something she squashed on a daily basis. This Diaboromon, it looked like it was composed of pure, unadulterated bad. The girl notice Pawnchessmon's grip on her spear tighten, but she wasn't one to lash out in vengeance despite the odds, not even with the ability to deliver mega-level hit in her repertoire.

Listening to what the colossal digimon had to say, Nonna actually smiled. Several reasons. For one, they weren't a bloody stain on the ground yet - that meant their insertion into enemy structure was going rather well. Second, the way Diaboromon spoke conveyed a sound mind, more than would be expected of the usual world conquest type. "If you spoke like you were certain of victory, I would have stabbed you in the back at the first opportunity. I am relieved to have chosen my side well." the Russian said, choosing her wording carefully in an attempt to sound confident but not insulting or grovelling.

"Lord Diaboromon," Pawnchessmon continued, picking up on the honorific from Ogremon, "I would advise not to leave with the entire force." the mon said and half knelt, sketching in the dirt with her spear, "There is a resistance hideout in the area that as of several hours ago we can confirm was occupied by Angemon and several others, including Digidestined." she drawn a crude map of the area and highlighted the approximate location of the base. "It is too well hidden even for us to find again, but we believe leaving behind several patrols may alert us to their presence should they change location."

Here came the other part of the plan they discussed on their way to the village. It didn't sit well with either of them to just toss the other digidestined and what was left of the resistance to the enemy, however when they thought about it, the likelyhood of clashing with them further down the line was bordering certainty anyway. But they needed to prove their worth for their plan to work, and this way at least they suggested leaving behind only weaker digimon the resistance should be able to handle should they actually find them. Now, if only the 'lord' would agree with their logic.

Anya stayed mostly silent save for fawning over Cono(Conomon, k) while everyone talked, seeing as her questions were answered for the time being and that they would probably be more time later for questions. Things happened and eventually they were all ushered out of the building extremely quickly as a explosion was heard in the distance, apparently a digimon named Diaboromon.

Anya almost dropped Cono as they ran so she simply solidified her grip on her. As they ran they eventually met up with another Tamer and Digimon pair, which was kind cool. By the time they reached the base Anya was on the verge of passing out, she wasn't exactly the most active person so she wasn't used to running so fast for so long. This wasn't to say she was lazy, she simply wasn't some track and field star.

Of course, upon reaching the base and meeting the new Tamer after listening to them talk while they ran, she had a multitude more questions than she originally had before. She was extremely glad to be ushered into a room with chairs, her legs burned like they were on fire and her lungs felt like jelly. Or was it the opposite way around..she wasn't sure, maybe it was both. "Never..going to..do that..again.." She wheezed, leaning back slightly dazed in her chair.

She perked up once everyone started talking and asking questions again, however. She listened intently as everyone spoke, absent-mindedly petting her new fluffy friend as she did so. Everyone brought up good questions, as well as points, although she didn't exactly agree with Nonna. It pretty much answered everything she would of asked too, so that was a plus.

The only question it didn't answer was the question of food. In tandem with that thought Anya's stomach growled loudly, definetely loud enough for anyone left in the room to hear, causing her to flush slightly pink. Once Brent suggested the idea of training Anya nodded and stood, carefully cradling Cono in her arms.

"One thing, well, two. We should probably all introduce ourselves. I'm Anya and this is Cono, nice to meet you all." She told them, smiling happily. "Secondly...does anyone know where to get some food? I'm starving." She continued. Cono nodded, or er..rather..shifted its body up and down slightly. "I'm hungry too!" She chimed in. Anya giggled and rubbed the little puffballs head in response. "Surely, this secret base has food, riight?" Anya asked, looking between everyone.

Derrick groaned as he learned 'FRIENDSHIP' was the key to digivolving his partner. It wasn't that it was cliche or even god damn difficult to do. He had no problem with Kapurimon so far either...but friendship...REAL friendship wasn't something he was really good at. And on top of that if all those novels he had been forced to read in school were correct a real relationship with a companion was based on their hardships together or time spent interacting with one another. That wasn't something he had in spades right now. They'd lucked out at the start of this journey having someone to help them...but how long will they last in desperation when left on their own? He looked at Kapurimon and smiled. "Don't worry little buddy I'll make sure to do my best to get along with you. And I won't do it for the power. I'll do it because I need someone to watch my back no matter what. I know you got what it takes...it may take time but...that's a bridge we'll cross when it comes to it. Right now we just need the right directions." Derrick said as Kapurimon nodded firmly at his friend and trainer. "I will not allow harm to come to us. For the world to return too normal and the elimination of the viruses I will work with you Derrick Quinn. If you put your trust me me, all of you, I will not fail you. I may be small now but I know I have potential. I just need time to unlock that. Along with all of my companions we will be able to wipe out the threat at hand or at least force it back." Kapurimon commented too everyone present as Quinn whistled. Then he noticed someone else had spoken up before him, "Oh yeah I'm sorry. I thought everyone here was already at the lab when I introduced myself earlier. Derrick. Derrick Quinn. Camper, Tinker, and now 'Digidestined' don't now what the heck the last one is about but I guess we'll find out together." Derrick said with an awkward smile as he waited for the others to do something so he didn't need to brign up something.

Brent stopped when Anya mentioned food. She did have a point, Brent knew that he hadn't had food for... well, he'd been in the Digital World for several hours now, and hadn't had anything to eat since lunch time in the human world, so about half a day without any kind of food. Brent wondered if the Digital World even had any kind of food.

"I think you're right about that, Anya. By the way, my name is Brent, Brent Toruya. These are my partners, Agumon and Gabumon. I'm wondering, though, if there is any food in the Digital World..."

"Of course there's food in Digiworld! I don't know what kind of world you come from, but we've got all kinds of delicious things here!"

Angemon had finally returned from whatever he and the others had gone off to do. If anyone would know where to get food in this place, Angemon probably would be the guy to ask.

"Angemon, do you have any food here? I'm pretty sure a lot of us haven't had anything to eat for some time."

"Of course, I'll grab some for you all. We make sure to have plenty of supplies handy in case we have to stay hidden underground for some time."

Angemon headed off deeper into the base, presumably to the food storage, leaving us all alone again. Brent looked over to Gabumon seeing he was still thinking about something, probably Tsunomon again.

"You're still worried about him?"

"Yeah... he's a good Digimon at heart, but the way he tends to show it isn't exactly friendly. I know for a fact he wouldn't let anything happen to Kazero, and he does kind of like him, but you wouldn't catch him showing it."

Brent understood what Gabumon meant by that, but decided to turn his attention to his Digivice thing. It had to have a lot more features than just Digivolving. He started trying out what each button could do, and at first it did nothing. Then, after hitting a combination of buttons, a large map of what looked like earth appeared out of it.

"So it even has a map feature... I'm guessing this is the Digital World, looks so much like earth..."

He memorized the button combination and turned the map off, then continued to try out different combinations to see what else it could do.

@Shikaru @vancexentan @Duthguy @Pyromania99 @Decker126

"Angemon's Sanctuary!? You were there?! Hmm... this could be quite the day, so far I've destroyed Leomon, crushed yet another Rebel sect, and now the chance to destroy the resistance once and for all... It's so tempting, I want to find that place so badly... Other matters, however, keep me from that."

Diaboromon was very intrigued by this Human Girl. She was supposed to have been called forth to aid the Digimon against him, instead she wishes to join them, and brought along some tasty information. He decided to radio this in to the others, pulling out what appeared to be some type of monitor using some dark force.

"Diaboromon to Council Room, I have something quite interesting to share with you."

He decided to step just out of earshot from the Human, but still keeping his eye on her. He didn't want her to hear his suspicions and thoughts.

@Forsythe

The council was descending the stairs into the prison when the electronic table in the Council chambers registered an incoming message. Tactimon halted, and returned up the stairs to the communicator. It was Diaboromon.

"What have you to report, Diaboromon?"

"Several things, Tactimon. Firstly, Leomon is no more. Secondly, another Rebel Harboring Village has been destroyed. Third, and this is the most important: one of the Digidestined freely came up to us and wants to join our cause!"

Tactimon was taken aback by these claims. The destruction of Leomon was a surprise, the Village an everyday occurence. But this Digidestined human wanting to freely join them?!

"Interesting, what does this Human bring to the table for us?"

"She has a partner in a Black PawnChessmon, i'm guessing one of the few survivors of the Kingdom I destroyed. The human herself, from what i've been told, is a skilled swordsman, being able to defeat Digimon with great ease. Also, she has information that Angemon's Sanctuary is within the area."

"Hmm... leave some Troopmon behind to scout the area, but bring her back to the fortress, personally."

The connection ended, Tactimon greatly interested in this turn of events. He had other matters to attend to, however, and returned to the stairwell which led to the prison.

"You are suspicious, naturally. And if not you, the others will." Nonna noted as Diaboromon returned his attention to them. She didn't need to hear the contents of the conversation, as she could guess well enough what they were. The Russian didn't believe for a second that a Mega level digimon that was part of a group that conquered the entire world would be so gullible. The trick was to convince at least some of them that her worth outweighed the bother.

"You wouldn't think us to join your group without ambition of our own, would you? But everyone can see we aren't even in the league yet. Until then, we are a good tool, and you have time to prepare. Question is: Is it going to be you wielding us, or will you simply hand us over to the one on the other side of the comm like?" she asked a nigh-rhetorical question. Waving her arm forward, the Russian smiled: "Lead the way." It was actually Pawnchessmon's idea to use Nonna's witty tongue to sew distrust between the council. The duet had no doubt they were plotting against each other already, but hastening the process would also hasten the conclusion to this conflict, and hopefully spare lives.

When Any and Brent both mentioned food, Danny noticed his stomach growling. All the excitement since coming to Digiworld must have distracted him from his hunger until then, luckily though not surprisingly Angemon confirmed that there was indeed food in the Sanctuary. "I just hope humans can eat Digiworld food." Frankly he wasn't too worried about the issue, after all if Digimon knew what humans were, they couldn't be the first group to arrive in Digiworld.
