IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

I have been doing a lot of talking with my co-GMs and people on this guild who I consider friends and its made me have to think long and hard about my reputation on this site. Now in other threads on here I have gotten in my fair share of back and forths, nothing too major but recent enough for it to effect the way a couple people perceive and that's totally FINE it comes with territory of being on the internet. But I've been notified that my reputation as it were has also spilled over into my beloved Shine City RP and is making people in this very RP not comfortable about me being the GM and that really does bother me.

Ive been on the internet since I was 9, flame wars, arguments, blocking, snarking, its all 2nd nature to me, I have almost zero emtional investment in 'online conflict' because thats exactly what it is, 'online' I can turn my computer off and do something else. But....

Shine City means A LOT to me, when I first created the first season, It was in direct response to how cold, and edgy most of the RPs in advanced section were at the time (not that there is anything wrong with that, it can be really cool) but I wanted to create a fun happy space where we could date with our ultimate fantasy anime girls and guys in a easy-going sandbox environment. The idea that is under threat now, and my happy space is no longer happy because of me, really breaks my heart. And I can honestly apologise to anyone who has taken the interest and time to make an amazing character for my RP wholeheartedly for ruining their experience.

But I know that apologies don't mean shit without action, so as of now I will be leaving this RP as GM and will forfeit all my characters to be taken over by anyone else or removed if needed. I leave the RP in the very capable hands of @MyCatGinger as the new GM and Co-GM @Delta44 and also @Narcotic Dollie when she returns. Thank you all for populating this amazing city and making my life happier IRL for 4 whole seasons.

That's sad to hear. Since you mentioned discussing your decision with others, I suppose it's not my place to say that it feels a little drastic. Honestly, one of the main reasons I keep coming back every season is because I know the GM is dedicated and passionate, and the turbulence is all just part of the learning experience. People grow, people change, people mature. Whatever your reputation is elsewhere, know that in my opinion, it should have no bearing here. Anyways, just wanted to give my two cents. Best of luck, we'll miss you.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Your boss is spouting bullshit and must leave the RP to appease...who, exactly?

Tempted to do discord-only for Shine City at this point; though you do have a couple of things that grinds my gears over the way you run things at times, the fact that you keep coming back to this RP is already more than enough to make up for that. I dunno if it's just me or not, but so far we've been able to keep the cheery aspect of the OOC section pretty well; I haven't really noticed any big discussion or argument here specifically that shows any reason for you to relinquish your position as GM, voluntarily or otherwise.

For one, this RP isn't entirely GM driven. Players have a lot more freedom than what's allowed in say...the Sky Warriors or the like. And while this usually means a quick death of a slew of less-than-decent roleplayers having no cohesion in any aspect, literally hundreds of posts from the past seasons combined and subsequent spin-offs over the 1x1x1x1...'s show that many of the players have been able to get on the same page and work together for Shine City to happen, even when it's not possible for the majority of the players at times.

For another, the fact that players tend to muddle OOC with IC should not punish the GM, unless the GM is involved...and even so, it really shouldn't affect the RP ICly unless IRL cuts in. In season 2, and again now, there's been some sort of weird conflict that I was (unfortunately) unaware of and/or unable to get myself involved in without seeming biased. Regardless of what happened in season 2 ICly, it seemed that there was an incident between players and some sort of "passive-aggressive" bullshit I was not part of, nor did it seem like you or the majority of other players were part of. That caused the drop-out of key players at the time, and then a domino happened where the RP emptied out faster than a bottle of scotch at a frat party.

That really pissed me off that time, hence the OOC rant that had me questioning "who what when where why how is this RP dead?"

And now again, it's come to the removal of a key player within an RP, who just also happens to be the founding GM over some OOC bullshit that isn't even part of the majority of the players' concerns, unless you were to voluntarily go out of your way to find every reason to not want Boss to be Boss.

Here's the thing : this is the Internet. Each site is a territory all on their own, and the Guild here is not an exception. Each site dictates what type of content is to be shown to who under what circumstances exactly.

In the Guild, it's been dictated that adult content should not be posted to the public, and that the virtual equivalents of crimes (blackmail, defamation to assets/businesses, harassment of any kind, etc.) are not allowed.

The rest is up to the users of the site to decide. You have rules for each and every individual RP, you have a general manner of conduct that is excusable and inexcusable set by the GM, and you have the choice of not participating in an RP that you feel have generally shitty people to be around.

You also have the choice to post opinions, or post opinions contesting the validity against other opinions, or so on and so forth.

I'm free to actually say that everybody who plays in the Free section of the guild is a pubescent 12-year old with less manners than the 4 year-old idiot (also an opinion here) who climbed through barbed wire and fell into a pit solely because he might've wanted some "me time" with Harambe. I may be wrong (they might actually be pubescent manchildren from Brazil and Saudi Arabia who oh so desperately want to screw a girl, real-life or otherwise <---this is also an opinon), but nevertheless, so long as I'm not legitimately promoting things like murder and suicide, I've got the privilege of being a dick to everyone else.

And everyone has the privilege to react how they wish, so long as they don't break site guidelines. So I might get shunned from every roleplayer if I suddenly started spouting that all Jews were Zionist pigs and that all Palestinians were Wahhabist scumbags who can't learn to think for themselves, and that's fine for me to get shunned.

What users don't have the privilege to do is control for the entirety of the site any opinion or difference; that's reserved for the owners and managers of this site. Truth be told, there are other sites, roleplaying or otherwise, that have far, far more restrictions on what content is allowed than what can be posted here. And there other sites, roleplaying or otherwise, that allow far, far less restrictions on what content can be shown. For example, I'll use two sites that specialize in choose-your-own-adventure kind of stories. ChoiceOfGames.com have moderators and administrators that strive for a professional setting to work with, so they've been given the power to ban whoever they feel like detracts from that. chooseyourstory.com, inversely, allows some pretty fucking ridiculous opinions and crude inside jokes (everyone fucks one particular user's mom there, for example) to be flung over the forums since they want to promote the love and hobby of writing a CYOA story and the freedom that a CYOA story has over a linear one. You get two different sites that do similar things, and yet have different standards and ways to go about doing said thing (writing CYOA stories). And then there's also an erotic CYOA site, but that doesn't really count for anything since AdBlock is a must to even browse through its contents.

As far as I'm concerned, the Guild here isn't a rallying place for SJW's or feminists, though either certainly are allowed to come here and roleplay the mass-slaughter of a million misogynistic men if they so wished. Likewise, the Guild also isn't a rallying place for Trump supporters or Clinton or Bernie supporters, but any of the three are allowed to come here and make a massive three-way war RP about it, if they so wished. From what I've seen, the Guild isn't an academic site, nor is it supposed to be the home for every liberal ever. The guild isn't even focused on selling table-top campaigns for Pathfinder or any other die-roll system, so there's no need for professionalism unless it's mandated in an RP.

In any case, though, since this site's purpose isn't for monetary gain and the like, I'd rather that we do try to reach an understanding with one another instead of trying to push our own beliefs and agendas on one another without knowing each other's histories and dilemmas IRL. If we're going to be a site for entertainment and recreation, we should promote that, instead of trying to discourage it. At the end of the day, that's what ignorance and impatience does.

Shit-posting really, really doesn't help permanently; it's just gonna perpetuate some pointless grudge and misunderstanding.

Politics isn't just some "thing" for some of us, it's a life or death fight for our rights against people who think we being who we are causes goddamn hurricanes of all things.

Hi, Boss! So I saw you around in a few threads before Shine City @Dynamo Frokane and I have to admit, at least from my personal perspective, your behaviour was a bit...off-putting (for lack of a better word) and some of the things you said definitely made me say "yikes". But the thing is I didn't say anything because...well it wasn't my disagreement and it had nothing to do with me. So I practiced an art that seems to be lost on a lot of people in this day and age and stayed in my own lane and minded my own business. Your actions have an impact on others and yes reputation IS important but at the end of the day not everyone is going to like you. I'm sure there are people on the guild who don't like me. Probably even people in this roleplay, but so what? My job isn't to please the people on the guild and neither is yours. Once I joined the thread you seemed like an okay guy who was genuinely nice to be around - if that isn't enough for people then fine, but you shouldn't feel the need to change for anyone because, as has already been touched on, RPG is supposed to be a place anyone can come and roleplay not a place where only those who are morally acceptable by a specific standard can have a good time.

As for Shine City; I haven't seen any complaints, but if there are those in this thread who feel uncomfortable with you GMing the thread then frankly THEY should leave. When I saw Shine City was your thread I won't lie I was a little apprehensive but if I didn't think I could work with you then the responsibility is on me to not join, not for me to join and complain that you're running the roleplay - a fact I already knew when I signed up - and to then force you out of your OWN creation. The onus of responsibility is not on you to ensure that I like you enough to join your roleplay it's mine.

I'll be honest with you and say that I think at least half of this (possibly more) is your own paranoia and insecurities getting the better of you instead of reason because it doesn't seem like anyone actually wants you gone - and if they do then they should just pack up and leave because honestly they're not more entitled to be here than the OWNER OF THE THREAD. I'm not going to give you a pep talk or stroke your ego but I will repeat what I said before: You seem like a decent guy and I enjoyed roleplaying in your thread. I'd like you to stay and if your opinions don't match mine? That's fine. If a problem arises? We'll deal with it. If people expect you to answer for actions or comments by you in your OWN thread then fuck them.

Shine City seems to be a happy roleplay with lots of the OOC jokes and wonderful IC characters and you are a part of that and you created it. I don't care about politics or personal beliefs or really anything. I just want to roleplay with this group of darlings. You shouldn't let the opinions of others force you out and honestly I'd just like for us to all have a friendship picnic.

I just stayed up until 2 AM to finish this fucking kickass collab with the equally kickass @lovely complex. My passion for this roleplay is just constantly increasing because of the amazing posts you amazing people put out every single day.

Yeah, shit happened today, no one can deny that. Lost good people, lost perhaps even more important trust. But we did not let this break us down! We pulled through!
