Also, I just realized how unpopulated our massive ship really is- 10,000 people for a 7km stretch is tiny. My university has some 35,000 students alone.

@vietmyke I did a lot of research to get a sustainable number. Remember all these people need places to work, places to sleep, places to rest and relax, room for key systems, resources, supplies, vebicles and then the cryo bay.

Not sure what you had in mind, but I imagined that his "veins" would be used to continuously pump cooling liquid throughout his system, of course causing his skin to feel cold to the touch.

I thought of a more visual idea with the 'veins'. They're just another cosmetic feature designed to make him look that more human. Just another way to show how deep his makers went with his creation.

I confess, before even finishing your post o was trying to think what would be immediately off to a less casual observer, and that was first. Second was lack of true bones.

Also, I think Karen might be a good first meet/friend (?). She's generally friendly and would, of android-ness was discovered, be both highly curious and also have no idea about any of the technical aspects. On top of that, she must be acquaintances with Dr. Philips, since she's essentially a specialized researcher on standb, so we have a mediator if need be. On top of THAT she's proven herself able to hold onto classified information in the past - information even Michael wouldn't have (on Xenobiology).

Background:
What history does your character have in this universe?

While "born to" may be too strong a word, this 'child of storms' is the daughter of a geneticist and a stellar cartographer. Though they were once originally from the Nagaski Conglomerate, their calling to the deep black caused them to seek work in Citadel, before eventually applying for, and being granted full citizenship.

The question "where were you when Citadel..." is one deeply ingrained in the social conscious of the Armani as it is an event that has redefined the whole system. To that, the child's parents would answer--were they still alive--on earth, and there, respectively.

As for Hako's mother: Hara Haka (原墓), the grief and loss she felt (that of survivors guilt) pushed over the edge. Driven mad by the violent passing of her husband, and pushed by her own genetic shortcomings, Arashi suffered a total mental break which resulted in obsession. She toiled endlessly for years to bring back some portion of her husband. Of the perfect man she married and wished to bear children for. Of her family. The child they always said they'd have when things settled down... Of her life. While no one person's mastery over the genome can ever be said to be complete, Hara Haka's was sufficient to modify their genetic structure (from cold-stored samples) for in vitro fertilization.

The problem with dabbling in the taboo, and damning the consequences is just how damnable those consequences can be. Hara Haka knew immediately the egregious error she had made while watching her zygote make its first divisions. It was a slow process. Far slower than it should have been.

As her daughter aged, she grew very little. Roughly 40% the speed at which she should grow, and it was Hara's fear that her daughter would never fully mature due to her own zealous meddling.

Unable to recover the shattered remains of her family, and burdened with the assumption of her having created a permanent ageless child, Hara Haka jettisoned herself out an airlock in the remains of Citadel space to join her husband.

Hako watched her mother be pulled into cold space, and ever since she has been unable to shut out its call, and unable to rest her feet on solid ground. Her obsession with engineering, with mechanical systems in general, stem from her inability to override the security lockouts. Her inability to save her mother.

Historical Profile:

• Biography [+]

  Among all the passengers on the Vitae, Hako came into her invitation quite by accident. It is a social imperative in eastern societies to preserve the dignity of oneself and others. Even to this day some of those traditions still exist, as Hara Haka's death was never reported. Or, perhaps its the egocentric nature of western society to not invite unnecessary hardships upon themselves, that prevented the civilian pilot from reporting his failure to properly update security measures on his ship's airlocks.
  
  In either event, after the passing of Hako's mother, an invitation to join for the Arks program was recieved. Hara Haka had, before her sabbatical, been a suitable candidate for defense contracting. That was with the intent to leverage her expertise in genetics, and speculative genetic models of evolutionary paths of the Devastators, how such a species could exist, and how best to fight them medically should arise.
  
  With no concrete information to go on, even well grounded scientific speculation on the subject would prove invaluable to the teams aboard the Vitae.
  
  Using her mother's credentials, Hako accepted the invitation on her behalf (both of them), and boarded the Viate with the expectation that her mother would be joining her shortly. Since she was formally on the passenger list, there was little reason to question why Hako had been sent on ahead of her mother. When the question did arise, Hako dismissed it by questioning the questioner if they understood just how much stuff a geneticist has to pack, and get ready. Before drawing a comparison to her own light load.

  As a highly certified Engineer... er, technically as a "meritorious Civilian Technician", Hako is a master of physical systems. While most assembly and design of major systems tend to be done by machines, she's scrapped together a few interesting models of her own.
  
  Though it should be noted that she's primarily done so by using spare parts that she'd rather not admit where she got them from. Hako's early "career" as a technician began by building waste reclamation units, and food processing (and storage) containers for her survival.
  
  From that modest beginning, Hako learned first to look inside machines to find what is broken, and replace it. From there, it's a short step from finding what works, to finding what makes things work. After savaging all manner of working, and non-working components, and comparing them the Child of Storms then combined them.
  
  Over time, and much experimentation, Hako began to see herself in not only her work, but the products of other's work. To know those things, she would frequently sneak into places she was not permitted, to take apart things that did not "belong" to her. She also put them back together and was not caught doing so in more cases than not.
  
  She only discovered virtual academies, and online certifications, after overhearing about them in dry dock. Seeking to challenge herself, she took the certification tests... again, and again, until she eventually passed each she came across. Though many tests took many tries, she had little else pressing to do with her time.

An author of several papers on the philosophy of genetic engineering, that combated the commonly held notions thereof, Dr. Hara Haka revised her position on mutagenic weapons after the destruction of Citadel Station. The decision she gave, which first raised the Ark's attention was quote: "A preponderance of new evidence has caused me to re-examine what humane death constitutes."
  
  Given so little information possessed about the Devastators, the potential for biogenic warfare, and the need to defend against such potential threats has become increasingly real.
  
  Father: Tangeul Delthus.
  Status: Deceased, 2196.
  Cause of Death: Citadel Casualty.
  
  A stellar cartogropher by trade, and self professed amature comedian, Tangeul pressured his family into the diasporic life of a multi-national citizen, before abandoning their claim to Nagasaki Conglomerate citizenship. The reason for change of residence placed on his application to the Armani controlled Citadel station was quote: "To live my work."

  As a genetically engineered child, Hako is a wellspring of energy with the physical constitution to match. There isn't much she can't eat, and even less that she's not tried to. This does not translate to staying power, however, which is a product of endurance training and so Hako possess the stamina typical for one of her age, size, gender, and physical build.
  
  Rather, the focus of modification was on improving the sustainability of the body, improving longevity, and resistance to diseases, damaging mutations of cells (such as cancers and carcinogens), as well as physical damage.
  
  As a product of a highly analytical (and admittedly unstable) mind bent on perfecting that aspect of her genetics, Hako is herself has a high capacity for retaining information, as well as a predisposition toward learning new learning strategies.

  She's very young, even less than she appears. Due to her decelerated growth her physical and mental capabilities have not yet fully developed. Due to this, some of her more controversial enhancements are irregularly applied in every day life. The child is still a child, and will often not make an effort to study or learn things that do not interest her.
  
  With little-to-know parental oversight driving this discovery one consequence of this weakness is appearing categorically savant, that is possessing an amazing aptitude with limited range, while also easily being diagnosable as suffering from numerous social disorders; despite her "perfect" physical code.
  
  There are many social constructs, norms, and customs that Hako simply doesn't understand. Again due to her general lack of interest with the topic. Even many fairly rudimentary social graces were not part of her upbringing, and seem beyond her.
  
  Lastly, with regard to her age and lack of parental endorsement, Hako has encountered gating that bars her from formal training and has in turn relied heavily on informal means to gain her skills. Such experiences range wildly from savaging in junk-yards, to disassembling private space ships (without the owners consent, of course).

  In all contexts age is as much a liability as it is a boon. While she has the capacity to live an extended life, and pass on more desirable (modified) genetics, those benefits come at the cost of slower maturation. Despite her skills, Hako is often seen only as the child she is. She's both easily underestimated (good), and her opinions easily dismissed (bad).
  
  in the social context of age specifically, there are many things she simply either is not expected to understand (complex personal motivations), or lacks the physical context to make associations to (such as the consequences of anatomical maturity).
  
  There are many contexts in which the age gap between Hako, and others, may be both a blessing and a curse.

  Home is everywhere her spanner fits, and trouble is everything it gets into.
  
  Hako has always been without home and, for as long as she can objectively remember, without family. Furthermore, the most prevalent social construct: the construct of ownership, is perhaps one of the things she struggles with the most. The only objects in her quarters, that were not provided to her for some function of living, are items she sees as an extension of herself. A small piece of wreckage from the Citadel, a trivial airlock security panel from a 10 year old science ship, a smooth stone about the size of her fist from the Shinano River, et cetera. It is for this reason that her room looks more like an abandoned cargo-bay, than someone's living quarters.
  
  That is, of course, with one exception: her tools.
  
  The instruments of her trade adorn her home as hap-haphazardly as the clothing strewn about, and she sees them in very much the same light; going so far as to feel naked without them. Her tools have also seen the same care she uses to maintain herself; which can be sporadic but heartfelt.

I'm not going for the stowaway method, at least not this rendition that you have offered. There's very little explanation on how, you say she got aboard in a container but containers will have been checked very thoroughly both by the shipyards security and the Arks, and depending on what is in the container it could have been there for years.

Not to mention it says nothing of why, how she found out about the Arks (If it's pre-public knowledge) or how she executed her plan.

For these reasons, this specific character is denied. This does not mean that you cannot tweak/change and reapply. As I said I'm more than willing to forgo the fact applications are closed in order to gain an engineer.

@Rawk Thanks for the warm greeting~! I have quite a bit of experience with RP games, but not so much with play by post. I thought it'd be nice to get into, and I do love sci-fi. I tried to make my character fit in the world, because that's what RP is all about, but I'm also sure a lot has happened since the game started that I (and my character) would have no reason to know anything about.

I intend to reapply with the answers to these questions, and some adjustment on the getting onto the ship. Given the nature of the character, and her history, and how little I know about the world so far; I didn't know how best to tackle these questions. My next question is, as I am tackling these questions, do you want me to create a new, revised post? Or, shall I simply edit the original post?

And, if I were to amend my backstory from being a stow-away to being a survivor found in space (from the ship her mother died on), and brought aboard, would that be more amenable? It solves the problem of a child finding out about a program she wouldn't understand, while still preserving the essence of the stowing away.

@LegionPothIX Edit the original. I also have some slight issue that the whole genetically engineered point just comes out of nowhere. Given the advances in technology I am not wholly unwilling to dispell it. I just need more on the background of such research etc. If you have any questions ask, I have a lot of stuff on the OP but even more on paper and in my head (that I didn't put up because I didn't wanna overfill the OP).
