In the world of Remnant giant horrifying creatures called the Grimm run amok. Attracted to negative emotion, the Grimm prevented the humans and fauna from flourishing. Even more so by the time of the Great War, when the humans and fauna of Remnant not only had to defend from the Grimm, but each other as well.

Soon after the Great War, schools were set up to uphold peace within the world of Remnant and to defend from the Grimm. Graduates from these schools would be called Hunters and Huntresses and are held in high regard throughout the kingdoms.

Of these acadamies, one stands out, Illuminate Academy, one that will be shaken and changed by the coming events no one could predict.

Out of Character Info

This is a RWBY roleplay set during the events of the series but with the characters of the show removed and Beacon Academy replaced with Illuminate Academy.

The roleplay will start sometime into the first semester, and the teams will already be chosen and have been acquainted with each other. The roleplay will start with an event that will bring all of the teams together and kickstart the plot.

Teams will be set up identical to the show, with four members on each team. Depending on how many people apply multiple characters may be allowed but if there is a large amount of people interested this may be scrapped.

In terms of characters the obvious rule of no overpowered semblances applies. Characters will not be based on fairytales like in the show and can have any motif of your choosing. However the rule of names relating to colours still applies.

For anyone new to RWBY who is interested, the wiki is a useful source of information, or you could just ask and I'm sure we'll answer to the best of our ability!

These are all cool ideas! The only one I would say is not acceptable is the anti-semblance stuff. I'm sort of wary on the drone and cyborg front, could you elaborate?

Drone: Instead of a complex weapon, he has two robotic wolves with different weapons (one 20mm cannon, one twin 7.62mm MGs) along with a simple but powerful sidearm. Kind of like the techie of the group.

Cybernetics: Born human, but had all of his limbs replaced with cybernetics (like Ironwood) after a horrific accident, and he can replicate weapons (like Velvet, but only certain weapons). He can give these weapons elemental effects using dust tanks built into his robotic limbs (like Weiss' weapon)

Chains: Just figured I'd explain these a little. They are a semblance that are used to restrain creatures and rogue huntsmen and huntresses, and those caught in them can't use any powers like semblances, or Grimm using any healing or strength abilities.

@Shadow Daedalus In all honesty I'm not really sure about those 3. The idea I had in my head was for more traditional weaponry. That being said, @Mr Allen J and @LetMeDoStuff are both equally GM's so if you guys have differing thoughts feel free to express them.

@Liberator Well, It's RWBY so it could be even more ridiculous. They have humanoid robots and spider tanks already

I mean, they're in-line with most weapons of RWBY (except for maybe the wolves, but eh).

That said; I do agree that the chains are a tad ridiculous, and the cybernetics replicating weapons is pushing it.

I'm a big Street Fighter fan (played Third Strike to death when I was a kid), and I'm digging Ibuki in SFV, so I switched (only because I got tired of my Star Platinum set).

I'm totally interested! Though I can't decide whether I should go with my gypsy with two claw-like weapons which are also grappling hooks, or a character with a crossbow that turns into two smaller crossbows that use dust-infused bolts.

I'll give this a go. Already have a character in mind even.

I have a few ideas of my own:

A dude (or dudette) with an earth semblance, and maybe s/he has gauntlets like Yang, but maybe they transform a friggin grenade launcher.

A dude based off Afro-Samurai with a dragon semblance, he has a katana (that, idk, turns into a shotgun), and can summon a mighty dargon.

A chick I used in another RP that had lightning nunchucks.

And maybe a ninja based off Ibuki from Street Fighter. :^)

Which sounds better - dust bubble gum (if that's plausible) or turning dust into "grenades" of sorts via one of their weapons and uses either a hammer or baseball to launch em (if that's also plausible)?
