I didn't expect for this RP to blow up as big as it did, so I'm going to be splitting the cast up into two groups.
For the sake of getting things rolling, I've already picked said groups for this round, but in future arcs people can pick.
Usually. I might pick specific pairs for certain arcs, so keep that in mind.

Sounds like a good idea, seeing as there are many pairs. Might help balance a few things.

My favorite class is Lancer, but imo theg have the weakest container since they only have mr as a skill. Spears are just really cool since they have a really low skill floor compared to most weapons and a really high skill ceiling. Spears are both the everyday mans weapon and the weapon of heroes. There is a reason it was the king of the battlefield for so long.

My least favorite would likely be Berserkers, as whenever i see someone like Herc or Lubu i always think "wow theyd be a lot more interesting as another class". That is why e or ex mad enhance is best

@PKMNB0Y
@Lonewolf685: Since when is reinforcement dangerous? =3=;;
I mean, the item itself's fine, but that phrase irks me.
Also, uh... There any justification as to why guns?
Also that's totally old lady Mami and nobody can tell me otherwise.

Made the adjustments.

While I removed the comment, it was meant in regards to the consequences of, say, reinforcing your eyes. Shirou made that look easy cause he had no concern for his life and practiced his heroic heart out with no other interests to detract from practicing Reinforcement and Tracing, but if anyone else were to abuse it as frequently and screw up just once, their eyes would explode. Avalon probably made dealing with the consequences of detonating bones and ruptured organs possible too. But for the sake of convenience, removed that tidbit.

Gave it a name.

Gave an explanation for why its a gun.

I haven't a clue what you are talking about :3

@Raineh Daze
Think Bazett's suit, and how its inlaid with countless runes to give her the strength and speed to beat down a Servant, and you are on the right track, though this is of course not going to be on that level of effectiveness. More like a force equalizer so a woman nearing sixty doesn't get snapped like a chicken bone.

And my favorite class is Rider, with Caster in close second. Whether it's Medusa, Iskander, or Francis Drake, the Rider class always delivers someone with a real magnetic personality that makes you wish you summoned them yourself.

Least is, surprise of surprise, Assassin. In concept I love the Assassin, but with only a few exceptions, Assassin is the class that has received the least attention out of all of them. Not easy to get attached when it's mostly just Hassan showing up and getting Axed off.

Looking at /GO, it really ends up feeling that Nasu in a way limited himself way too much with ME back in /SN. To be fair it's not like he has Clairvoyance EX to see how much Fate ends up being, but it's really feel hilarious how much of new berserkers in /GO that aren't from release are either having a low enough level of ME to have coherent speech (Beowulf and Kintoki), EX ME and made to be legitimately batshit in some way (Cu Alter effectively, Raikou, and even as release servant, Kiyo, Vlad, and maybe Gilles counts), or just end up not really bothering with the speech or thought impediment much (Ibaraki, and to lesser degree Tamamo Cat).

Then again, even the release /GO original berserkers that hasn't been mentioned (Caligula, Asterios, Eric, and maybe Darius, but I think that guy actually doesn't talk) have limited capabilities to talk anyway. And bar Asterios, they ended up not being popular anyway (rarity, meme material, and the fact they're guys instead of waifu aside.)

Stars and rarity in Go are literally waifu stats.

Oh, and now about favorite class.

I personally love Assassin. Despite the fact they're utterly gimped in most of the wars they appear so far for the sake of narrative, I love their game plan the most. But really, they are the only class so far in the entirety of TM to never actually be able to win a grail iirc (even Berserker wins it in Carnival Phantasm!). It's a big pity how much this class lack good representation and performance in most TM medias. And no, Semiramis doesn't count. She's honestly more of a Caster than Assassin. So my only hope is for True Assassin and No-Name Assassin in /Strange Fake to actually put up an impressive show.

Least favorite...Saber, I think? Living proof of how the HGW system are intentionally stacked, pretty much.

The holy grail war's meeting of the three families was basically "We made 3 really cool classes. Now we need to trick people to come and die and also give them a disadvantage", except Caster and Rider are actually really good classes given the right heroes. Good assassins are rarer like Li, and Berserkers are basically the communist class; looks good on paper but then you realize you have no prana left and fail and die (unless you are a german cup who summons the greatest hero of the west but you summon him in one of his worst classes)

@ADamnFiddle Yeep, I guess you can say that they played them...like a damn fiddle.

Though really, Berserker in general should be like the hardest class to win the HGW just because how much Master-Servant's communication ended up being important in most wars. Caster honestly have little chance to win too since the main targets of the war have MR of varying degrees, requiring more clever maneuvers although thankfully most Casters are capable of that. Assassin is pretty bad tho, since they're usually summoned as one-trick ponies, and assassinating a bunch of masters that have planned for the war for decades aren't just going to work easily. Even counting /GO originals, the best assassins are ones that aren't really Assassins. Like Shuten.

Rider has it a lot better due to having good class passives even if at lower rank compared to >sabers, but they usually compensate it with impressive array of NPs.

So yeah, HGW is totally rigged and it's pretty fun how subsequent TM works bar extra I think still has the rigged template for the war.

Berserkers can work out, but honestly losing mental and cognitive abilities for stat increases when in reality it is the noble phantasm that is the most important in a battle between servants is kinda dumb. Which is why E or EX ranked Mad Enhancement is the way to go if you want to apply a Servant. That and the drain on power is kinda "plz help me".

And there are a few ways you can completely bypass magic resist with certain casters if you play your cards right.

Assassins also have the issue of, in a standard HGW, having to be Hassans unless you know the work around to summon non Hassan-based Hashinshin.

Riders are actually as good as the knight classes since most knights were also riders and you could just use them in this way.

A master for Berserker should just pull a Kirei in Fate route and power the Servant up with the suffering of children.

Isn't the Hassan-only Final Destination ruleset something inherent to specifically Fuyuki's Grail War (and Strange Fake's since it's directly based on it)? I forgot the details on that.

If I had a berserker I'd just use the classic "mini army of homunculi that are connected to the summoning ritual and the servant takes prana from them instead of me" schtick. Assuming it was something like Lancy, Heracles, Lu Bu, or another huge mana consumption servant.

It might be, but there are ways around it that dont involve finding the strongest wraith and binding him to a gate in a fake summoning.

IIRC, the name 'Assassin' itself is a catalyst to pull a Hassan, because the Hassan come from the a secret order that basically created the 'term' Assassin. If you want a different Assassin, you have to use a catalyst to pull them, or figure out a way to bypass that part of the ritual.

I always assume that when replacing the rules somehow they don't use Assassin as the same class, intentionally or unintentionally. You're only going to get a one-to-one correspondence with the Fuyuki Grail War if the Einzbern are providing the Greater Grail and Zouken is helping out. xD

As for ME: to be fair, when Nasu wrote ME, it was just for F/SN. And the thing that universally gets forgotten is it can be turned off. Illya's just angry at Berserker and keeps him crazy, Lancelot doesn't WANT to be sane. It's not actually hard to get round.

Stacked wars are more interesting. And make for more options.

Despite being official, this is a weak ass explanation. I'd the was the case, the Berserker class would be formed only of mad Viking men wearing animal pelts while fighting under the effect of 'shrums and alcohol. After all that's a word that's also linked to a specific group instead of a "combat style" like the others are.

On an unrelated note, I think I like the Rider class the best they are the ones that get the really cool NP's. A freaking lot of Sabers have sword beams for no better reason than because Arthuria does, Archers usually have OP NP's but those tend to be last ditch moves. Lancers have the best NP's from a practical POV, but when did Lancers every had the luck to do anything without being screwed by fate? There's nothing to comment of Casters, Assassins and Berzerkers on the matter.

But Riders, they get flying chariots and mystical beasts, armies of loyal followers and fleets of ships, anything that made them great commanders in life. They are pretty much a class made of win.

On that note, I guess that I dislike Assassins the most because I don't empathize with the Hassans like at all. Other stations that aren't them are cool, however. In this case, I probably would go for zerkers as my least favorite class because of the aforementioned ME issues.

Yes she is.

Yes she is.

... No seriously I've honestly never seen another version of Jack the Ripper that was more interesting. They usually go for "generic psychopath", which, um, I mean is quite possibly what Jack the Ripper was in real life, but that doesn't mean that in media you have to go with that interpretation. A sympathetic take(who is still kind of a scary murderer if you get down to it, especially if her Master is prone to that kind of stuff) is a lot more interesting. That and they actually explain the rationale behind her skimpy outfit. For once.

Anyway, as for the whole "balanced Grail War!" thing, that's an oxymoron.

The Grail War, in canon, was never, ever made to be balanced. It's repeatedly mentioned that some classes are inherently weaker and need to be sneaky and underhanded. It's mentioned a lot. Yes, Saber is powerful(especially since Arturia is literally the best Saber and best character) but it's not really rigging.

The Grail War is an inherently unbalanced affair, which is why you get some cheaty methods and underhanded, brutal tactics. Some classes literally need to do that to win. You're meant to play to your classes's strengths.

When it's Assassin, you go for Masters and try and strike when their Servant is distracted. When it's Caster, you play the long game and prepare as much as possible. Saber, you're up-front offense. And so on and so forth.

You really shouldn't be expecting balance.
