As Keaton and his partner, Flynn, travel up the path towards the Shibuchi Temple it seems very peaceful. The path is filled with many trainers journeying to the temple. Near the area where the grass covered ground started turning icy a slight commotion could be heard near to the cottage off the side of the path.
Flynn looked at Keaton then towards the cottage indicating he wanted some sort of drink. When the two got to the cottage they soon realized the commotion wasn't from people rushing to get a drink but from some Pokemon standing in two groups across from each other. It seemed as if the two groups were in some type of argument. Some trainers were watching what was happening until two of the Pokemon started battling each other. It was a Bergmite and a Zangoose that started battling. The owner of the cottage walked out and said to the trainers watching. "These two always do this. I'm not sure why, but they seem like they are fighting over the territory here. I just wish they wouldn't fight each other so much."
Keaton Holmes Route 12 Co-GM: @alexfangtalon Keaton was hiking up the path towards the Shibuichi Temple, having heard rumors that the Gym Leader uses Psychic-Type Pokemon. His partner, Flynn, who was a Dark-Steel Type, made it seem obvious that this gym would be a perfect start for his journey. Yes, it was a moment that he couldn't wait to happen, when he defeated the leader with relative ease and earned his first badge, minimal effort required.
On the trek there, however, Flynn caught his trainer's attention by looking over at a nearby cottage and tugging on one of Keaton's jacket sleeves. "Hm? What is it, buddy? You need some food? A drink, maybe?" The young family man from Castelia City asked his bladed companion. However, a mere glance off of the side of the building revealed a crowd gathered around two Pokemon; Bergmite, a relatively small and admittedly cute creature which strongly resembles an icicle, and Zangoose, a white Pokemon resembling a mongoose with sharp claws and a famous rivalry with Seviper, a poisonous serpent. The two seemed to be beefing over turf, which a man, assumedly the cottage's owner, confirmed Keaton's hunch of.
"That so?" Keaton asked rhetorically, a grin on his face. "In that case, if I catch or defeat one of them, the other should be a lot more docile." The young man directed his eyes towards the Zangoose; it was a tough customer for sure, but it would make the cottage area a lot safer if he could break up the dispute and take the Cat Ferret Pokemon out of the equation, since Bergmite is a generally very passive Pokemon and shouldn't cause too much trouble by itself. "C'mon, Flynn, let's take on that Zangoose!"
With introductions out of the way they finally headed on into the reserve. As expected most of it seemed untouched, only a clear cut path was the difference, which seemed to be the maintained paths used to navigate the forest. The forestry was lush, a healthy green with sunlight emphasizing the life this forest had. If one paid attention they can see the further off areas beyond and off the beaten paths that it was teeming with Pokemon, there was a sense of excitement here.
"Hmmmm, I wonder if we'd be allowed to have a picnic in here...", York appeared to be enjoying the scenery.
Jack, who now accompanied York and Talonite, was staring down into the distance at the many Pokemon he could see beyond the forest. "My hunger is starting to grow....". Immediately, Jack started to break open a cloth from within his bag, pulling out packed lunches he had briefly brought with him. "While I was at the Pokemon Center, this guy pointed me to a Cafe that makes really great food." Smiling, he pulled out tupper-ware boxes from his bag containing Sauced Meat and Rice, still considerably warm.
"Here, you guys are welcome to help yourself." Jack told York and Talon, laying a pair of lunch boxes on the picnic blanket. It seemed like Jack was a little too keen on the idea of a picnic.
After some time had passed Ryzin had reflected on the battle coming up with various new strategies. Totodile and Amaura were just resting together as Ryzin stared into the sky, he gets up and calls out to his two pokemon, "Come on guys lets go for a walk."
They walked around for a while, Ryzin started to hear voices and smell food, "Guys can you hear that? Come on lets check out who it is." After getting closer they see three trainers sitting around talking and eating, Ryzin thinks to himself, 'Nothing out of the ordinary here, hey I recognize some of those guys from at the entrance, and they were at the fossil machine aswell im pretty sure.' "Guys lets go introduce ourselves, I think we should warn them about how strong some pokemon are in here, we wouldn't want anyone to get hurt now would we."
As Ryzin and his pokemon emerge from the forest they are immediately spotted by the trainers, Ryzin waves out to them trying to signal that hes just a friendly trainer. "Hello, sorry to interrupt your meal, my name is Ryzin this is my Totodile Dm and my Amaura Shiva, we just came to warn you guys about how strong some of the pokemon in here are. We just had a fight with a Scyther that was very powerful and thought you guys may want to know there are some strong pokemon, and that you might need to be careful."
Without much deliberation, the team of three trainers decided to split up three ways. Novis climbing the stairs upwards, Roxy taking the middle path, and Aiden descending on the left path.
Aiden took out his flashlight and illuminated the darkest of the three paths. The stairs were relatively steep for what they were, quickly descending into another hallway. It gave his Pokemon buddies a bit of a tough time just going from step to step, but regardless Aiden found himself back on flat ground again. The path ahead just lead to another intersection, which while despairing at first sight, was actually far from hard to know which way to go. Going left would just lead to a dead end pretty quickly, straight would eventually lead out the other end through a small series of tricky doors, while going right would lead to a corner that lead, again, right. It was immediately obvious that turning right would cross underneath the middle path and presumably the upwards path as well. Of course, no matter what path he chose, he'd soon realize which the right one was: the noise of drilling and machinery was distinctly louder in the path going right, so it was just a matter of how soon he'd find it. Regardless of which he took initially, Aiden soon wandered down the right (in both senses of the word) path. The noise amplified the further down it he went, confirming that, with no doubt, he was unnervingly close to whatever they were looking for.
The hall opened up into a rather large circular room, with a huge machine taking up the middle of it. The ceiling had a big hole in it, revealing to Aiden that it went up at least a couple more floors. Whatever it was that they were doing, Aiden had found the main operation. Or at least part of it. Most distressing, perhaps, was that the machine had already done sizable damage to the infrastructure of the ruins; the machine had just started running, and was already trying to break through the hard stone of the floor, the force of the operation sending cracks across the floor and into the walls. It was clear time was of the essence... The quicker they stopped these thugs, the sooner they could stop the drilling machine.
Of course, it wasn't as easy as walking up and pulling a switch, because as soon as Aiden entered the room, two Arclight thugs suddenly jumped in front of him. The taller, more macho clean-shaven one wearing weird shades and a white suit barked, "What's this kid doing down here?! I thought we had men positioned outside!"
The shorter man, with a scruffy face and a dirty labcoat, glared at Aiden and pushed up his comparatively normal glasses. "Huh, wonder where they went... Oh well, we'll take care of the twerp ourselves." With almost no hesitation, the two Arclight members threw out Pokeballs, and out came a Noibat from the grunt and a Magnemite from the scientist. If they were going to fight 2 on 2, Aiden had no choice but to send out both his pokemon or get stomped.
Arclight Grunt Keith and Scientist Thane want to battle!
Meanwhile, back at the first intersection, Roxy rushed down the path. It was quick jog down the curved path before the corridor opened into an open circular room very similar to the one Aiden was currently in. A machine was in the middle of the room, but there was open floor and ceiling surrounding it. The walls surrounding it were coated with ancient art and history, though now faint cracks ran through it with sizable chunks missing. This, of course, sent Roxy into even more of a blood rage. If she didn't have her Pokemon with her, she probably would've used her very own nails to maul the two Arclight members standing to the side, operating some kind of machine that was digging out blocks of ancient writing from the walls.
"O-oh man, she looks realllyy mad..." The lanky grunt whispered to the scientist hastily working on some controls for the machine, muttering a few more unintelligible things as well. He was shaking in his respectably stylish boots, the same clean white suit appearance as the grunt Aiden was dealing with. The confident look contrasted with his pitifully unconfident personality; he couldn't decide if he was more afraid of this teen or his higher up.
With a sigh, the scientist finished up what she was doing and turned towards Roxy. She brushed a few long red locks of hair out from in front of eyes, revealing an incredibly fed-up death stare. Her appearance was strikingly well-put together despite it just being a standard labcoat outfit. No matter how good she looked, though, she meant business. "Hmm. Another twerpette comes strolling in, trying to stop a multi-million dollar project. Go back to the dumpster you crawled out of, you brat!"
With that, the scientist set aside her clipboard and pulled out a Pokeball from her pocket. Throwing it out in front of her, a bright red light materialized into a Voltorb. After a few awkward moments of comparing her one Pokemon to the two Roxy sent out onto the battlefield, she elbowed the grunt in the stomach. He stumbled backwards and let out an anguished groan. "Oh, grow up!" She spat, returning her glare back over to Roxy after. The grunt quickly recovered and took a stance beside the scientist, throwing out a Noibat.
Arclight Scientist Madeline and Grunt Matthew want to battle!
Novis wasted no time bolting up the stairs and bursting into the top floor of the three-part machine space. The room was just like the other two-- big machine in the center, hole in the floor around it. The top floor was arguably the least damaged, due to the least amount of work being done on it. However, there was something Nov suddenly realized: Nov realized Nier couldn't climb the stairs by himself very well, so he went back and carried the little dog up. Nier barked out of glee, apparently ignoring the fact that Nov had abandoned him in the first place.
Anyways, the top section of the machine seemed unmanned, so he made a B-line for the controls, but that was when he saw what the thugs were busy with. Two of them were ganging up on a bunch of wild Pokemon on the other side of the machine! They were probably trying to stop the drill and protect their home, but they couldn't get past the thugs' Pokemon. This issue took precedent-- getting rid of the thugs and enlisting a squad of angry Pokemon would be more beneficial than fiddling with a bunch of switches and buttons he didn't understand.
Of course, since it was going to be 2 vs 2, Nov sent out his own second Pokemon beforehand, the Drilbur appearing in a flash of red light. It seemed confused for a moment, before noticing Novis again and scampering behind some rubble. Nov rolled his eyes and sighed-- they didn't have time for this! He walked over and leaned over the chunks of broken stone to glare at the mole Pokemon. "Levi, come on!" Nov shouted, which alerted the grunts to his presence. "I don't care if you like me or not, but we gotta save those Pokemon and we can't do it without you!" The Drilbur glared back at Nov for a brief moment before emerging from the rubble cautiously. The cause was apparently great enough for him to work with Nov, at least for a moment. What a self-righteous little thing.
Regardless of whatever they felt towards eachother, Nov started ordering his Pokemon to do a flanking maneuver, but of course, the grunts had long since noticed the presence of an intruder and moved to go deal with it. Nov's little team couldn't get very far before being pushed back to the entrance of the room by the grunts' Pokemon: a sparking Joltik and an angrily trilling Feroseed. The wild Pokemon were being held back by a duo of Arclight Magnemite.
"Who're you!?" The female grunt demanded, jousted a finger at Novis. They wore matching uniforms: pristine white suits and weird futuristic glasses. It was incredibly jarring compared to the rustic environment they were fighting in, but hopefully, Nov wouldn't have to see them much longer after he kicked their asses.
"Doesn't matter!" Nov shouted back. "You'll be running out of here with your tails between your legs before I can even finish saying it!"
"What a lame come-back," The male grunt gave a cocky grin. They stepped beside eachother, both mirroring the same overly-dramatic pose. "Team Arclight's here to stay, and we always get what we want! The future is fashion, and you," They both jabbed a finger at Nov again, "fit much better in the past!"
Arclight Grunt Dianna and Grunt Marshal want to battle!
Before Nov could even give any orders, the opposing Joltik leaped forward and latched onto Levi, preparing to hit the Drilbur with a Bug Bite. Nier moved to go help get it off, but the Ferroseed intercepted and hit the Growlithe with a Gyro Ball, grinding its spikes into Nier's flesh. The force of the blow pushed Nier back a fair bit and allowed for the Joltik to bite Levi a fair bit before getting knocked off. Nier and Levi regrouped themselves before anything else could happen, leaving it up to Nov to decide what to do from there on. Getting hit by the opening gambit wasn't good at all...
The pair of grunts laughed at him. "Not so tough now, are you? You fell right for our plan!"
Nov grit his teeth together. They were just pissing him off now, but he couldn't afford to make a stupid mistake because he was angry. It was as he was trying to calm himself down that he heard the sound of conflict below them-- someone else was having a Pokemon battle a floor down, the sounds of orders and Pokemon howls clearly coming from the hole in the ground. It was then that he realized that the opposing trainers were standing just in front of said hole... Maybe he could knock their Pokemon down it? That wouldn't hurt them too much, would it? Either way, they needed to get the offensive edge first before trying anything too crazy. They were backed up against the wall at the moment.
"Levi, use Dig on that Joltik! Nier, hit that Ferroseed with Ember! Nov called out, and the two Pokemon took no time in carrying the orders out. Nier dashed forward quickly and closed in on Ferroseed before it had time to shuffle out of the way of the eruption of flames that came from Nier's mouth. The force of the blast sent the Ferroseed rolling towards its trainer, but the female grunt immediately punted it back. The Ferroseed ricocheted off of Nier's head, off a nearby pillar and back a few meters in front of the trainer. Meanwhile, Levi tunneled through the deep stone flooring (which, in hindsight, was probably a bad idea since they were trying to save the infrastructure) and tried to target where the Joltik was. He popped out of the stone dramatically, tearing apart anything that was above it with a brandish of its steel claws. Unfortunately, he didn't hit anything. The Joltik had leaped up onto the nearby pillar, eyeing it from above. Once it had a good angle, it tried to shoot an electrified web at Levi, but he tore through the sparking threads with ease, though that didn't save the nearby Nier from getting his side covered in webbing.
The sparks shocked him a bit and Nier whimpered, falling to the floor and trying to rip it off of him. Nov knit his brow and concentrated. The Ferroseed was going in for another Gyroball as the Joltik recovered from the exertion of its move. "Levi, stop it from hitting Nier! Use Rapid Spin or something!"
Levi nodded and dashed forward, launching into the air and forming a drill with its claws. He started spinning as fast as the Ferroseed and intercepted the attack, his claws digging into the side of the Ferroseed. They stalled mid-air for a second, smoke coming from the friction at the contact point between the two, before bursting apart, sending both Pokemon sprawling to the side. Fortunately, only Levi stood back up as his claws had torn a hole in the Ferroseed's side. In the time that took, Nier managed to get most of the webbing off of him and got back up to his feet as well.
The female grunt swore under her breath and gave a melancholic pose, leaving it all up to her partner to finish the fight. Unfortunately, Nier barely had any strength left in him to fight and was an easy target. The male grunt barked out an order to the Joltik, and the spider quickly launched from the pillar and latched onto Nier. The dog erupted into a ball of fire as he furiously shot fire around to try to get it off as the Joltik tried to bite him. While the erratic flames did some damage to the electric arachnid, it didn't stop it for knocking Nier out with a powerful Bug Bite. It leaped off the unconscious body of the Growlithe and jumped towards Levi.
Levi, however, was ready for the attack and intercepted the Joltik's leap with a Metal Claw. It didn't stop the Joltik completely, however, and it latched onto Levi again. Again, he started freaking out as the little spider tried to get a good hold and bite him again. The panic got to him quickly-- the Drilbur couldn't do much more than scramble and try to shake it off.
However, Nov's voice rang through the confusion: "Levi! Rapid Spin, now!"
With that command, Levi realized how stupid he'd been and jumped into the air with the Joltik before combining his claws again and turning into a drill again. This time, the Drilbur tried his best to keep the Joltik on him as they tore through the air while spinning extremely fast, before launching the spider into the wall at a high velocity. It stayed where it had splatted into the wall for a second before tumbling to the ground unconscious.
Levi ripped apart his claws, a sharp metallic shinnngg echoing around the room. The battle was over, and he was the only one still standing.
"Whaaaaat!?" Both of the grunts cried, clutching onto eachother. They both looked like they were actually on the verge of tears...
Novis was about to say whatever sassy comment came to mind, when they all heard a sudden ruckus come from the other side of the room. A few seconds of scuffling later, and both Magnemites came flying across the room before unceremoniously clanging off the wall by Nov, fainted. The group of wild Pokemon emerged from the corner they were being held in and surrounded the Arclight grunts. Novis couldn't help but grin to himself as he watched the terror in the grunts well up as they returned all four of their fainted Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"We'll remember thiiiissss!" They called out in unison, as they leaped over some of the wild Pokemon and sprinted out the exit, barely avoiding running into Novis. The footsteps faded for a second, before turning into a lot of tumbling and sounds of pain.
They had forgotten there was a staircase.
Nov kinda hoped they were okay. Only sort of, though.
The whole incident at the university had been very horrible and scary. At least Sadie was able to get away with only battling one of the bad people so her Pokemon were alright. After the bad people left, Sadie had run to the room that seemed to have been the main area of attack. Sadie spent her time helping many of the trainers with their hurt Pokemon while the Professor talked to some of the trainers that had helped out much more. After she was done those trainers had already left and the Professor was offering permits to enter the Silumin Reserve for helping out. Sadie happily took the permit and made her way to the Reserve.
When she finally got there a few other people had already been there for a while. She used her permit to get in and walked around for a bit looking at the wonderful scenery. After walking around for a bit she saw a few trainers seemingly getting ready to have a picnic. She looked at them closer and realized they were the ones that had done the most to fight against the bad guys from earlier. One of them seemed more familiar than the others though, but Sadie didn't know why. She walked up to them with Gigaton beside her and said, "Hey, you were the guys who helped out at the University, right? That was so brave of you guys. I wish I could have been brave enough to help as much as y'all did. I'm Sadie, and this is Gigaton."
"Down, Bee!" Bee swiftly floated down to the floor, its small size making it far more difficult to hit than most other pokemon.
"Now, Vine Whip!" Vines sprouted from Bee's flower and wrapped themselves around the Torchic's body. That ember attack was sure to be dangerous to the vines, so holding onto the foe for any longer was to be avoided. "Okay, now pick it up and slam it to the ground!"
Bee did as commanded, the Torchic being raised up and set on a collision course to the ground.
"Bee, turn him around!" The vines rotated to the right and made the Torchic face the other direction to avoid the attack. It was a tiny thing, too, so its weight made it all the easier to pull off.
"Now, throw him away!" The Flabebe turned the Torchic around to face her yet again. Bee rose her vines up the air, headed straight down, and then let go of the foe to toss him away while slamming him down to the floor.
The Torchic went flying through the air, slamming into the ground and getting up as the world spun around it. It was super dizzy and didn't know which was was which, so it just started firing Embers everywhere. One of them was bound to hit right?
"Whoa..." Crazy thing, attacking so recklessly. Luckily, Bee had the perfect protective measure to counter it, albeit with little damage dealt to the Torchic itself.
"Bee, Fairy Wind!" Bee returned her vines back into her flower. Her eyes began to glow pink and sparkles appeared in the air. Then, a strong gust of sparkling wind emerged from the Flabebe and blew at the Torchic.
"Blow that wind from side to side!" Bee did exactly as instructed and any stray embers that would have otherwise hit her were blown away from their intended target. Of course, some of the wind made contact with the dizzy Torchic, not that it would do much damage.
"Bee..." Leo gazed at his pokemon with a concerned expression. Time to think fast! He would have to go for a two attacks in one combo. Tackle and Vine Whip in one go!
"Bee, Vine Whip!" The Flabebe got her vines out of her flower yet again, looking especially concerned over the possibility of it getting burned amidst the flames. "Now, coil them on the floor!"
Bee did as she was instructed, floating down as she had a very good idea as to her trainer's plan. A weak smile emerged on her face.
"Launch yourself at Torchic!" With great speed, the vines uncoiled and set the little pokemon out at the Torchic, albeit with some damage from the flames even on her way out. Her small body soared through the air and aimed at Torchic in a motion that resembled Tackle quite a bit.
"Nice one, Bee!" Bee let out a triumphant cry as the Fire Spin disappeared from its users fainting. Leo threw a pokeball at the fainted Torchic. It was trapped in the ball as it shook three times. Another capture complete!
"Get some rest, you deserve it." Leo held out Bee's pokeball and a red light enveloped Bee and returned her to her resting spot.
Talonite shook his head in the negative when Jack made his offer of food. "I don't take handouts. Besides, I need to make every minute here count. I'm going on a hunt." Talonite started to leave the group picnic when some random boy approached to warn about strong Pokemon.
"Good. If the Pokemon here were weak then they wouldn't be worth my time." Talonite walked past Ryzin as Sadie introduced herself to everyone. "Talonite. Remember the name of the first champion of Chromis." With that being said Talonite went on a hunt for a Pokemon.
Just as they were getting comfortable, their picnic was interrupted by a group of Pancham who stroll on in as if they own the place. While the others freeze as they take in the strange sight, York, of course, isn't paying attention to it at all. Moving forward, they start growling about something to the tune of 'Our territory, get lost', though, one doesn't need to be fluent in pokemon to guess.
Marching in, the assumed leader pancham, a whole lot of pointing and growl not to mention he's chewing on not 1, not 2 but 3 leaves! That must mean he's important right? ....or hungry but that's not important right now (or ever). From the looks of it, it seemed like it was some kind of shakedown but it didn't seem like the trainers were taking them seriously. It was then the leader raised his right paw and growled at an order which resulted in the pancham behind him to start chucking pebbles at the trainers.
Strangely enough, the majority of the pebbles gravitated towards Ryzin and Talonite, of whom was in the process of walking away. Well, technically Talonite and York but oddly enough York found some way to evade the pebbles and end up hitting Ryzin. Acting fast they moved in, swiped their lunch boxes before kicking Talonite in the shins for the hell of it. Backing off a bit, the leader turned around with a smirk as he growled out something.
Which in pokemon would be, we'll take these as compensation for being on our turf. Before turning around as they made a run for it.
-There's about 5-6 Pancham -Talonite's curse wild pokemon continues
As Ryzin is finished explaining the situation, he sees Talonite start to walk off, then another trainer approaches. After introductions were done, Ryzin sees York move to the side and suddenly Ryzin gets pelted with a few pebbles from Yorks direction, he turns around and sees a bunch of Pancham standing there, then what looks like the leader starting to growl, the Pancham begin running up and grabbing the food that was brought out, they then try to turn tail and run but Totodile wasn't going to have any of that. Totodile seeing Ryzin get hit with pebbles and Pancham trying to take their food Totodile jumps forward ready for revenge, she turns to face Ryzin and gives him the thumbs up and winks.
Ryzin thinks to himself amidst all the chaos, 'Why would they attack us so suddenly, maybe territory, maybe that's why the Scyther was training, to protect his territory. Just maybe these guys have something to do with it, it's only a guess oh well, back to the task at hand.'Ryzin then turns his head to face the other trainers and asks, "Hey guys what say we show these Pancham a thing or two?."
"So anyways, did you guys know this forest has been untouched for ten years? That was when Amalgam University declared this area a reserve, the funding seemed to come from not Professor Jonathon, but the generous donation was by Linus, who is now known today for his work in gardening, it's little surprise he has and still does supervise any major maintenance in this forest", he said as he continued walking, completely oblivious to what was going on, even as the grunt Panchams gathered around him to try and shake him down, but in the end just shrugged and gave up.
"Oh what's this?", he seems to have spotted something, making him walk off in another direction with added speed, stones aimed at him missing as a result, landing in Ryzen and Talonite's faces.
"... Oh it's just an interesting branch growth. Strange shape...", he noted. After he stood there for a few moments, he turned back to everyone,
"Oh well, so as I was saying, this reserve is... Why are you guys on the ground? What's up with you guys? You're all so strange", he commented. He was clearly unaware of what just happened, somehow he managed to be completely unaware that they were just mugged by a rebellious group of Panchams.
Continuing on a one-track mind, it seems Jack's thoughts had been distracted by the girl who had bumped into their group. He remembered the boy with Totodile fighting at the University, however he could not for thee life of him place where he had seen Sadie. Even while Ryzin and Talonite were being pummeled by stones thrown by wild Pancham, Jack was too busy trying to figure out where he had met Sadie.
Then, placing a closed fist into his other cupped hand, it came to him. "Oo~ooh! You were at the campsite at Leo yesterday, weren't you?? I remember now. We never really had a chance to get introduced back the-" it was at this time, Jack finally saw the Pancham from the corner of his eye. Once again, his attention equal to that of a cat with a ball of yarn, he stood up and pulled forth his pokeball. "Alright, finally, Another challenge. Let's go wild, gang! Go, Bonesaw!!!"
As they continued after the suspicious looking man, they eventually lost track of, not only the suspicious man but also Maria, Dan's Eevee. Sheesh, so troublesome. Soon enough, Maria would be found in the company of some strange man that Lucy couldn't get a good luck from her current hiding spot. Not long after, Dan finally showed up and got grabbed as the strange man held a hand over their mouth and told them to be quiet.
Following their eyes, Lucy saw not one but two suspicious figures standing there and chatting. As expected, these two were either responsible for what just happened or at least a part of it. It was getting interesting, they sure picked a good time to go to the mall! Though, it seems like the suspicious man knew she was there and told her, along with the others, to remain there. "Boring..." she muttered as the man walked out to confront the two.
But now that he walked out, they managed to get a good look at the man. He looked strong and confident but what is up with those big headphones? Lucy quite understand the appeal of them but shrugged as it didn't really matter. It didn't take long for the man to wipe the floor with them, a one-side massacre. After that, he returned and asked what they were doing here. "It looked like fun," she said as soon as Dan finished his explanation.
Before continuing, "Of course to also look for our pokemon, but honestly, if you find someone acting suspicious, it's only natural to find out what exactly they're doing, right?" Lucy beamed like she was having fun. Closing her eyes, she shrugged. "Who knows what could've happened if they were left alone to do whatever. After all, not like we knew some suspicious man was skulking in the background waiting to take care of them." she finished, glancing at the man with an opened eye for emphasis.
While it may come off to some as ignorance or whatever, it's not like she doesn't know of the potential dangers of such action. She finds it fun because it's dangerous. Lucy was never the type to sit around and do nothing, because quite frankly, that's just boring. Even if the man ends up telling them to go back, there's no way in hell she would when things were getting interesting. As if guessing what she was thinking about beyond the smile, Zap's eye twitches as he sighs in resignation. Glacia on the other hand, was all smiles and excited.

Talonite was stopped by another wild Pokemon attacking him. He got pelted with pebbles and snall rocks, covering his face with his left arm to stop them from taking out his eyes. He wasn't even eating this time, why did these Pokemon hate him so much? He was interrupted from his thoughts when a Pancham kicked him in the shins and he really had to resist kicking back. "NECRO, MEAN LOOK NOW!" Talonite exploded in rage as Necro turned towards the leader Pancham and pinned him in place with Mean Look.
It really spoiled his mood when he got made to look like an idiot right after trying to leave dramatically. Talonite cracked his knuckles and smiled ominously, an aura of rage seemingly surrounding him as he cracked his neck. Nothing more was said, the time for words was over. Now it was time for a beating.
Aiden moved with a sense of purpose, moving down the hallways swiftly to seek out anything of interest. Taking the steps in a determined manner. His light making sure to illuminate his way to prevent any unfortunate accidents, but also to make sure they were on the right way. Meanwhile, Zorex and Acano took to hopping down on each step as they came given their rather short stature. Despite that, they were still keeping pace with Aiden and in fact, Zorex was starting to pass him, leaping his way into the light of Aiden's flashlight and onward into the darkness.
Before long they leveled out and were looking around to find where to go next, but once again they were lead onto their path by the sounds of machinery and cracking stone. Again with a sense of urgency, but also a sense of caution not wanting to step into a trap. That was when he found the source of the noise in the shape of a giant drill digging into the ground and by the looks of things it appeared that they started several floors up.
Ready to stop the machine Aiden took a step forward to go and shut it down by any means, but before he got far two assailants leaped out to block his path. When they spoke and tossed their Pokemon out it was Acano who leaped ahead to get in the way of the attackers. Once again letting out a large series of cries and calls to challenge the Arclight attackers but also to say in the Pokemon language that he'd take them both on single-handedly. That bid wasn't about to be tested though as Zorex leaped ahead to join Acano's side.
"Looks like you've got a fight on your hands! We'll show you what happens when you harass and harm the locals and wonders!" Aiden called out adding to his friend's challenges and with a strong pose, he got ready for a good old brawl.
"They're already ruins," the scientist shrugged, "Who cares if we mess it up a bit more?"
Both of their Pokemon leaped into action faster than Aiden's could, launching an all-out offensive right from the get-go. The Noibat flew upwards into the air a little ways before divebombing at Zorex with wings outstretched, claws ready to tear through the little dragon with a Wing Attack. At the same time, the Magnemite hovered over to Acano's flank and launched a ball of magnetic energy at the Larvitar, the bomb homing in onto Acano with pinpoint accuracy. He'd be hard-pressed to dodge it. but the attack itself seemed to take a lot of concentration to pull off on the Magnemite's part. It obviously wasn't trained too well for combat, considering it was just a researcher's aide.
Aiden watched as the attacking Pokemon made the first move lunging and in response he could really only give one command before anything hit and the way he saw it, he could atleast give a good hit back if his friends were to get hurt. "Zorex! Use bite on the Noibat!"
With that Zorex was swift to open his moutha nd best brace himself for the diving Pokemon and while he did take the full hit of the Wing Attack he let his sharp toothed mouth clamp down on the bat when he made his sweep riding away with him clamped on tight.
Acano was next as Aiden looked over to see the Magnemite flanking and firing an attack to whice he tried to dodge but it wasn't exactly very easy given how mobile the attack was and when it struck it made him rebound back and slide a bit on the sandy floor of the ruins. That in turn gave Aiden an idea, "Acano! Use Sandstorm and let's show these goons what we can really do!" From there Aiden reached up to his chin and pulled up his bandana and then to the top of his head to pull down his goggles.
With that Acano slide his right foot aroung to the rear shifting the sands on the floor a bit and then he tossed both of his arms back briefly to then whip them forward, launching sands into a torrent that started to slip and wash all around the room to obscure vision and start to slash away at the Noibat and the Magnemite while Zorex seemed to be just fine with the whipping sands.
The Noibat quickly came to regret its divebomb attack as, while it did make full contact and inflicted the intended damage, the trade-off was hardly worth it. Zorex wasn't exactly prepared for a counter-attack, but instead managed to latch onto the Noibat, the dragon-type stuck head-first in the maw of Zorex. The momentum of the Noibat's flight, however, dragged them backwards several feet, the two tumbling unceremoniously across the stone flooring. With little else to do, the Noibat attempted to regain control of the situation, but Zorex's sheer jaw power wasn't easily surmountable and the Noibat quickly devolved into just struggling around, swinging claws and body around wildly in an attempt to get free.
The Magnemite, nearby, buzzed in delight as it watched its Magnet Bomb complete its already sure hit, pushing Acano back as it tried to take the blast the best it could. It definitely did some damage, but Acano seemed unfazed and, on Aiden's orders, launched back into the fight and started up a sandstorm. Gusts around the room started picking up the sand covering the rest of the room, the particles grinding into everyone but Acano harshly.
Both of the Arclight trainers obviously didn't appreciate the sudden whirlwind of sand, scratching any exposed skin and obscuring their visions. The grunt, however, seemed much more concerned than his partner-- this sand and dirt was not good for his pristine suit. The scientist, of course, didn't care much personally. After all, he worked in the field in a desert often, compared to the often literally sheltered grunt. As Aiden had protective wear and rather recent experience of battling in a sandstorm, it was definitely a smart move; both of Aiden's pokemons benefitted while he could still clearly give orders. Clearly, the full-force approach the Arclight grunts had decided to take failed tremendously, and Aiden had turned the tables quickly... They didn't have much of a plan to deal with this.
"Magnemite, use Sonic Boom on the Tyranitar!" The Scientist ordered, and it followed suit. Spinning rapidly for a second first, the Magnemite took aim and launched a powerful shockwave through the air at Acano. The sandstorm diluted the aim of it, however, and the blast wasn't perfectly centered. If nothing was done it was still a certain hit, however. Meanwhile, the Noibat still continued its weird struggle with Zorex. The Arclight grunt was dumbstruck... Out of all the outcomes, this was not one that he'd considered.
They had to do something, though, so the grunt decided on the first thing that came to his head: "Use Screech and try to shake it off, Noibat!" A bit unsure of itself, the Noibat obeyed and let out an ear-shattering screech from inside of Zorex's mouth, hoping that the soundwaves were powerful enough to shatter the dragon's eardrums or something.
Aiden watched as Zorex clamped onto the Noibat's head and the two went tumbling. Really he was proud of his tenacity and determination to commit to the attack and when the two came to a stop he cheered out, "Good job Zorex!" It was then that the Arclight Goon shouted for his Noibat to use Screech and that made Aiden watch as the Noibat somehow heard and deploy it's attack by hearing a muffled cry come from Zorex's closed mouth.
Zorex cringed as the peircing sound deafened him despite being muffled by his jaws, but it did not in fact blow out his eardrums as the Goon had most likely wanted. Instead Zorex stayed clamped on if only barely.
Acano had a better time of things as he was not hindered by the sandstorm and felt the Sonic Boom lashing towards him, that in turn gave him time to leap out of the way dodging the attack and landing on his short legs.
Aiden was quick to respond by shouting out to Acano, "Acano! Use bite and get him good!" Acano listening to his new friend used those same short legs to run at full speed through the shifting sands to close the gap towards the Magnemite. Once he was close enough he made a strong leap and dove head first at the Magnemite to give him a good bite.
Looking back to Zorex Aiden knew what had to happen, "Zorex! Use Dragon Rage!" From there Zorex heard the muffled voice of his best friend and knew what he had in mind as if they had the same thought. Breathing in the sandy air through his nose he puffed up as his lungs swelled with the fuel for his attack and then streaks of blue light could be seen at the edges of his mouth as the Dragon Rage formed in his jaw... and around the Noibat's head before exploding and launching Zorex through the air as the blast shot the two appart.
Thankfully Zorex flew through the air towards Aiden who ran towards him arms outstretched to reach up and grasp him midair... only to get knocked on his butt from the fallen shark. Though Zorex gave a quick shake of his head and leaped off of Aiden read to continue the fight.
Aiden took a little bit longer to recover but he too shook his head much in the same fashion Zorex had before standing back up and saying, "You good buddy?" Zorex nodded and took a pose ready to continue the fight.
It was hard to hold on with the Noibat's fierce resistance, but Zorex managed to maintain his grip on the Noibat even despite the incredibly obnoxious screech. It was only natural, of course, that Zorex capitalize on this incredibly advantageous position by summoning up the flames of a Dragon Rage and launching the entire attack on the face of the Noibat. It was a perfect 1-to-1 attack, almost no loss of power between source and target. For every reaction, however, there is an equal and opposite reaction, and this particular reaction sent Zorex flying back while launching the Noibat forward. They both fell the ground and tumbled a few feet, but only one of them got up. It was not the Noibat. The Noibat did not survive such a blast.
He wasn't dead, obviously, just fainted.
That left the Magnemite as the solo fighting force of the Arclight grunts, which was unfortunate as just at the same time as the Dragon Rage incident, Acano had shifted through the sands with upmost stealth, flanking the Magnemite and digging into its side with razor-sharp fangs. It emitted a series of harsh sparks in reaction, but they didn't do much to the well-insulated Tyranitar. After a few moments of freaking out electrically, the Magnemite desperately started spinning around at a high velocity, spinning Acano around rapidly before launching him off back towards Aiden.
The scientist grit his teeth, trying to ignore the grunt's anguished cries of disappointment and rage at his pitiful excuse for a Pokemon. "Magnemite, use another Magnet Bomb on the Tyranitar!" He called out, pointing forward despite barely being able to see Aiden through the whipping sands. The Magnemite followed suit and started generating magnetic energy again, just like before. With all its focus on generating the bomb, and the sandstorm obscuring its vision harshly, it had to blindly hope to not get hit...
As the gambit worked and Zorex stood victorious, he knew that the fight was not yet over and turned to the Magenemite to better help his friend. Seeing the glowing ball of energy being generated both he and Aiden knew that a fast action had to happen and that in turn meant that Aiden shouted out, "Zorex use Sand Attack!" To which Zorex was quick to respond by taking in a swift breath and launching a burst of directed sand at the Magenemite.
The sand giving the Magnemite an even worse round of things which in turn made it's attack shift wide and give Acano a chance to close the gap once again. "Acano use Bite and finish this!"
Hearing his freinds words through the sands and in mid run towards the Magnemite he leaped up once more to dive at the flank of the Magnemite to plant a firm chomp down on it as well as using his own weight to bring the Magenemite down to the ground for a suedo-takedown.
With that team attack made successful and Everybody down on the sandy ground the Sandstorm started to clear to reveal that both foes had been brought down and fainted with both Zorex and Acano standing and looking at the Arclight Goons with mean faces. Aiden was doing the same but first called out to his friends, "Good work guys! Now... You two, shut off this drill and get out of here!" The last bit directed towards the goons.
As the sound of the grunts struggle from the stairs faded in the distance, one of the pokemon in the group had fled, jumping down the hole and descending into darkness. Perhaps the entire situation had been too much for it, or perhaps something else was going on. Regardless, Novis would not have been able to get a good look at it, and when he would focus his attention entirely on the 3 remaining pokemon, one of them seemed odd in the group. A Venipede of all things, scared and confused as it shivered in a corner (If circular rooms even have corners?). It must have wandered into the ruins from outside and gotten lost, only for this entire escapade to happen. There was also a bird pokemon, Natu, constantly twisting its head back and forth from curiosity as it stared at Novis, its eyes never blinking once... And then there was the notorious Yamask, who looked just as equally scared of everything, and yet it had been in the front of the group, weird arm things outstretched as it had tried to protect those around it. Behind all of them were the firestones that Novis' group had misplaced!
When Yamask felt secure enough, it flew over to the machine along with Natu, both of them using some sort of ghost type attack that involved the plentiful shadows, slicing the machine into pieces and silencing it forever... Then, all 3 of them turned to Novis, curious as to what would happen next, along with if he would be mad at them...
It was then that an officer came rushing up the stairs, gasping for breath and ready to stop some baddies. "H-Hold it right ther-... There?" She said, looking up after catching her breath to see that the machine was in ruins, and a kid was standing by 3 pokemon. "W-What happened to the people causing all this? You aren't one of them, are you? No, too young, and the pokemon seem to trust you... The reports indicated... Ugh, why am I telling you this?" She said to Novis and herself rather quickly, facepalming at her lack of introductions or really anything. "I'm Officer Jane, er, new officer that is? It's complicated, but we got reports of people trashing the ruins and only just arrived. We didn't see anyone on the way in from the main entrance though, only you so far... I'll need you to tell me everything. Later. I gotta get you all out of here safely if there is an incident."
The pokemon seemingly agreed, each picking up one of the fire stones and looking at Novis as if they were ready to follow. @Deos Morran/Aiden
Having gone down the bottom route, the grunts grudgingly did as they were told, though both were a bit afraid... "Pssh, w-whatever... We don't get paid enough for this." One of them said before they both bolted from the room and up the stairs. The scientist had carried out a bag that was lightly filled with something, but maybe it wasn't that important? From what Aiden could see with his flashlight, they had dug somewhat deep into the ground with the machine, along with having dug up several items.
His thoughts, though, would soon be interrupted by the sound of an officer rushing to the scene. "Freeze! You... You child you?" He said to himself, scratching his head in confusion. "Aren't there uh... Aren't there suppose to be troublemakers? In funky outfits? Hang on..." He said, pulling out a notepad and turning on a light on his shoulder so that he could read. "Uh... Several individuals... Definitely not kids... Machines... Evil..." He mumbled to himself, the notes only causing him to scratch his head even more.
"What's the deal? I thought uh, there was supposed to be some sort of horrible people, but you're just a kid, and we didn't see anyone when we came in... Maybe we missed something..."
Unfortunately for Roxanne, the battle didn't go as planned. And soon, the grunts had her tied up, though rather loosely, as they made their escape. Unlike the other rooms above and below her, there was a door at the end of the circular room, which upon opening would lead further into the ruins. From here, one could take mulitple paths, with some leading towards places where an escape could be made due to having large holes to fit into. It was a lot safer to go through these unorthidox 'entrances' than deal with going back through the tourist trap.
When Jack spoke up about how he knew Leo, Sadie instantly remembered how he offered to help with the mean people who had claimed they had taken the pairs camping spot. Sadie was about to respond, but before she could a group of Pancham showed up and started pelting a few with pebbles. Inside Sadie was going Aww. They are sooooo CUTE! She didn't actually say it though cause the Pancham's were being a little rude to them. She quickly reacted and said, "Gigaton, use Rock Blast."
"Oh, well I suppose. I didn't expect curious children to go out of their way to explore during an emergency", he responded.
"But... By the looks on your faces you don't want to just wait around huh...?", he commented. He placed his hand on his chin for a moment, thinking,
"Alright... I'll just tell you what's going on. Team Arclight is here to steal money, that's the short of it", to be more precise they were stealing all the money spent at the mall today, it also meant they gained access to bank details, which means if this operation was a success, they'd get an instant pay-off, as well as a way to get a continued pay-off. They were usually much quieter, but it looks like someone in their team messed up, and it caused an emergency lockdown, which was also abruptly stopped.
"I was trailing these two, based on the direction they were going it looks like most of them are in the loading bays", he explained.
"If you two want to help fine by me, otherwise I suggest you do go back and wait until this is over".

"Oh, well I suppose. I didn't expect curious children to go out of their way to explore during an emergency" The elegant man responded and Danilo raised his eyebrows under his bangs. He wouldnt exactly call himself a kid being 19 years old. Was he appearing younger because of some reason? That wasnt his attention. Danilo only got to muse about it for a short moment as the trainer continued to speak. Commenting how they were not the type to wait around, at which Dan simple nodded.
Then came the explanation of what was happening. How exciting a evil team of this region was doing evil doings. He wondered if this team Arclight was fashionable, like the team back at his home. Yet, maybe they were not, because stealing money sounded.... unimaginative. He suppose money does turn the world around and maybe this was simple one step to a much bigger plan. Thinking along those lines Danilo was fired up again and more than itching alongside Lucy to get to the ground of this.
"I was trailing these two, based on the direction they were going it looks like most of them are in the loading bays.If you two want to help fine by me, otherwise I suggest you do go back and wait until this is over".
"Than the steps to our goal are clear. Onward to the loading bay. No time should be wasted~!" With that said he picked Maria and went to follow the trainer where the evil doers were doing evil. "How about a race Lucy." He stated starting to step faster, well aware the girl would surely beat him in any form of race.
Watched and guarded the defeated goons as they did as he commanded, but got distracted by the items in the crater made by the drill. In that moment the goons made their escape with whatever they had in that bag, but before he had a chance to pursue the officer came in. His line of questioning and the confusion behind it making Aiden think he wasn't so sure about what was entirely happening with Aiden being there. "I'm not a troublemaker, they left just up those stairs. I beat them in a Pokemon battle and got them to shut down this drill but, then they got away." Aiden explained, to the cop, not entirely sure on if it would help at all, but atleast he'd have something to attribute to the investigation. "If you hurry I think you can still catch them!" He finished curious on really what would happen next.
Regardless, Aiden knew he had a moment to breath and in taking that moment he kneeled down to give both Zorex and Acano high fives and Zorex went a step further to give both Aiden and Acano a hug, running around in circles a bit once he was done. They did good and Aiden was proud of how well they did.
Still Aiden had one last bit of business to do before he left. Walking up to the drill to inspect it he glanced down to see just what those items were, curious on what they had been digging up and if they had dug it up before he was able to stop them.
