Hmmm, god such a long time ago, I remember stalking the old WoW forums for the longest time then I decided to try doing it in game and fell in love with it. That was around like 8 or so years ago I think? Anyway I decided to branch out onto forums and after dozens of searches I found my home on RPG.

I have a long history of roleplaying. I forget my very first forum I joined but the one that I have fond memories over (Not so fond anymore) is Sonic Turbine Forums. In terms of the first forum I joined, but it is dead and I think it got hacked too. Not STF its still around but deader than a door nail in terms of activity.

I think before 2005? Or was it 2004. I forget. I created a Newgrounds account in 2004. >.>

Nearly makes me think you may have been on some of the other Sonic the Hedgehog communities and sites of the time. One of the first sites I started role-playing on were the likes of Team Artail, The Sonic Foundation, and Sonic Stadium. It is always interesting to see veterans from that point of time from that side of the internet. I’ve never actually heard of Sonic Turbine however.

Anime-Forum, also known as A4.

Site has since been closed but my first RP there was for a Fallout Style RP. Ended up leaving in search of a proper roleplay site after I had some bitch take over my roleplay with God Modding and I had a character declined from a superhero RP for having too much strength and regeneration abilities. First off, the strength was enough to punch in a car door and through concrete and I was told that was too much as my character would "one punch man" everyone, and my character never had regeneration abilities but the GM kept saying I couldn't have that ability. So I gave them the site the bird cause the whole place was a fucking shitstorm... and now you guys are stuck with me.

I think it was actually through the forum system on a Horse SIM game site called Howrse.com. I've since moved away from playing the SIM game itself but still hang around there to RP with some friends I made there. Started when I was around 9 or 10? I'd been solo writing since a young age but I'd never heard of the concept of roleplaying or collab writing with anybody else before. It was a very new experience for me, and here I am 11 years later at 21, thoroughly addicted to roleplaying and with no plans to stop any time soon XD

I've grown a looooot since then, I used to godmod a bit and all those other begginner roleplay mistakes...like to think I know better now! XD

@The Elvenqueen HOWRSE!!!!! WHOA! THAT'S A TOTAL THROWBACK.

A list of places where I've spent my awful treasured younger days:

Horse Isle(Island?) it wasn't play by post but I remember it was super cool because my best friend in the 4th grade got me super into it. Never forget!

Then there was a Club Penguin spell (RIP) ...but I don't really think it was play by post roleplay there either. Yeah, my name always kept getting censored because 'Ginger' was unacceptable..smh. Nobody could reach me!

I truly began play by post on the forums of...cough.
Anyone heard of Pokefarm? Yep. Bingo! shudder. Still wish I stayed there, a spell... All these forums have an overlord and a team of overlords we worship like a cult. this place was none the different.
(jokes Mahz please don't kill me)

And, ringringring...
Chatango (oh god oh god. Still! I met my boyfriend of 6.5 years there and wouldn't trade it for the world!)
(pokemonepisode.org squad where you at????)

Aaaand somehow I found my way here! I'm very happy, and don't even remember how, but I'm really glad I came. :) I don't wanna leave any time soon!

Yeah the only one that remembers that forum. Is the OP. STF used to tie in with a Flash animation from Newgrounds.

Ah, I wasn’t too tied into the Newgrounds community outside of a close friend of mine (Ultimate TH) who used to animations. My lifeblood was those early Sonic-related message boards though, not just the ones I mentioned but also Sonicverseteam, Sonic HQ, Sonic Fangames HQ, and a few other affiliates. For a Sonic the Hedgehog fan, that was the best the fandom got. I miss it.

Too bad we got awful sonic games aka Sonic '06. And a few others throughout the history of the Sonic's Lifespan. It is very hard to remember all the forums I've been apart of. Though the first website I did join was Newgrounds. lol

@MyCatGinger Holy crap, I have an account on Pokefarm Q. I go by FloofyIncineroar there. I dropped out of a few roleplays there, though, because some of them went a bit too fast for my liking.

Also while I'm at it, I might as well mention the first play-by-post RPing on the Internet, and not just the NOOK. There was a now dead site called Pokemon Creed. There was a restriction against posting in the forums that required you to get 16 badges to post on there, but there was a fishing contest that I won, and traded some coins for a high-level Exploud to meet the requirement. From then on, I saw the roleplaying forum and roleplayed there all the time. I wasn't good at roleplaying at first, but I slowly improved and met a lot of friends. I even met my boyfriend on Pokemon Creed! It's a shell of it's former self but I had some good times there.

RP custom games on Warcraft III. I met a group of degenerates that I've been RPing with consistently for the better part of six or seven years. I found RPG by searching for a roleplay forum to use whenever my buddies weren't around. I fell away for awhile and apparently Guildfall happened while I was away.

I'm a loser who spent my time roleplaying in a chatroom on ChatHour/WeirdTown (the anime room was mostly roleplay instead of actual anime discussion), honestly,,,, I spent every day after school (I was just a little babby, haha) going on there and that's where I roleplayed enough to get a good handle on it. I had someone who pretty much acted as a roleplay mentor and played the role of my character's brother, haha. I mostly roleplayed the typical Mary Sue character, this one in particular was a Naruto OC who was Sasuke and Itachi's younger sister and had a tailed beast, lmao. Of course, the chatroom limitations made it hard for paragraph posts, but it was managed by the tedious task of splitting them up into separate lines (like, actual lines. It sucked, but it was still fun to me back then.) Followed by that was The Keep, which I spent all of a day on before I got bored... Chatango, which didn't warrant much, and some third place I forgot the name of.

It was an email-based thing that me and a couple other friends did, many moons ago. I still have most if not all of the emails saved away... somewhere... I think. I know one of my friends still has them!

The Spore Forums, they had an RP section that was more-or-less unpoliced since the mods didn't ever want to admit it even existed. Then the power structure or something changed and they decided they would, and me and the group of friends I RP'd with left; if because most of us were under direct threat of the mods.

At that time there weren't even admins to keep an eye on the mods. They became the admins by default.

I genuinely don't remember anymore. I was some kid on some random chat website. It's a toss up between that and the Yahoo!Chats when they were still a thing people used.

If it wasn't AOL chatrooms and groups it was small forums with a dedicated, if minimal, community. The first actual websites I can remember RPing on were probably GameWinners in their Clubs and Clans section where I tried, rather unsuccesfully, to get an RP based on some book series called Broken Sky going. I still remember when a Clan I was in got into a Clan War with one of the top Clans on the site and our Clan leader embarrassed us by putting up like eight words in an RP in what was meant to be a showcase of RP ability.

From there I moved around a lot, settled on Quizilla's forums for a while. I fell off of forum based RP around the time those forums up and died, floated around some places, some 18+ forums and communities, and then somehow I got lost and no one here has given me directions home.
