Nevix Says "Yello?" When Answering Phone

Now, I'm hardly old blood. Been here since January 30th of 2016. I know that I haven't been the most active, anyone I've ever RP'd with can attest to that. Realistically speaking, I'm probably the least qualified person to do one of these.

I will say that here, I've found friends. I've found settings and scenarios in writing that, given a billion years, I would never have imagined. I've found writers that inspire me more than any published author. I've found my favorite online community ever.

This site has given me more than I could've imagined, more than I could've hoped. I love this place, even though I don't show it. 15 months of memories. 15 months of staying up until five in the morning finishing character sheets. 15 months of getting overwhelmed and then going AWOL for days. 15 months of PM plotting. 15 months of collaborating with some exceptionally talented people.

Come July 7th, the Guild will have been around for 10 years. I've only been around for 15 months of those 10 years, but I wouldn't trade those 15 months for the world.

To say that I was a lonely child would be an understatement. With that said, I was also a bastard, but a lonely bastard at that.

I stumbled across the Guild when I was about fourteen or fifteen years old and had fallen on hard times yet again. Before coming to the Guild, I had learned how to write at the hands of college student and several older individuals through a Pokemon website. I would spend countless hours well into the night on various chat boxes that would empty during the school year which would leave me alone about two years later. I was about thirteen years old when my mother had abandoned me for a second life I knew nothing about - a job that she supposedly had was actually an affair with a strange man. Months later, I would forcefully be removed from my stepfather's residence by police after my mother realized she had made a mistake by upsetting her aggressive daughter that also happened to have an interest in archery.

And then I was alone.

There was a void for a while and it was one that I had tried to fill by taking my mother's medication, stuffing myself with blueberry muffins, and taking as many baths for as long as I can. One day, I can't remember what had happened or why, I decided to start writing again which caused me to stumble across the Guild. I was fourteen or fifteen and I'm nineteen now. It occurred around Easter and I remember playing as a dragon-like character in my first Roleplay. I vividly remember the amount of Smarties I devoured and the countless amounts of hours that my sister had put into playing The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on a television sitting near me.

I remember feeling alive.

I had a fantasy world to escape to and the weather wasn't so bad either. I was eventually joining Roleplay after Roleplay until I came across a Heroes Roleplay where I would meet one of my best friends, Josh. I forget what username he went by on Old Guild, but we traded Skypes, Facebooks, and even met in real life last summer right around when I established the Unofficial Guild Discord. Though not the Guild Discord anymore and still scorned by some, I've never been disappointed of the work that myself and many others put into it. I do not regret the people I've met and the experiences I've had while on there.

The Guild has begun to change recently and it is my hope that these changes will ultimately create a more active, friendly, and creative community as we very much already are. I hope that we will see many other unique individuals who will impact my life as greatly as @Midnight Howl, @Celaira, @Grey, @Nytem4re, @Fubsy, and countless others have.

I think the Guild's most important impact on me, however, was that it taught me how to feel alive again.

Half a score ago, writers and artists scurried online to mingle creative roots. Despite the desolation of the Fall, this guild blossomed into a vibrant forest, precipitously branching into thousands of stories and masterpieces, yet sewn into a beautiful tapestry, under this digital canopy, we all call, away from the endured seasons of real life:

Solace.

I found the guild back in 2011. It was purely by accident. My hubby had introduced me to roleplay while we were dating. We played D&D for a few years. But once the kids came along it was harder to find the time. Plus by then we were both going to college. So we needed something we could do from home. My hubby found a site that worked for him. I tried it but it wasn't really my thing. So I keep search. But I had no idea what I was searching for. I had never heard of post-to-post roleplaying. I was starting to give up hope. Nothing I found fit. Until my husband suggested I try searching post roleplaying. There among the suggestions was post-to-post roleplay. I clicked out it thinking that was exactly what I wanted. I post something and someone else continues the story and then I respond to their post. Right at the top of the search was the guild. As soon as I clicked on the link I know I was home. Within minutes I found roleplays I wanted to join. I nearly died when the guild went down. But I stayed in touch with some of the friends I made here. Once I heard the guild was back I returned. I am glad to see that the guild has survived ten years despite the chaos. I love the guild and hope to be here for year 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back in '11 I followed a friend and RP partner from another site over here to stop a guy from plagiarizing our RP, and @Mahz took care of that **** quick. Since that time I've RP'ed with more people, created more characters, and used various themes and settings for some of the best superhero role plays I've ever seen in any format. When Guildfall was upon us I felt like I'd lost a hand. I was happy to see there were others waiting for the return, and I'm glad to see many of my friends and old acquaintances come back! My wife even found time to join the site and took part in several RPs...

Here's to another ten years of characters and friendships! And thanks to Mahz and everyone else involved with making this place what it is.

Gentlemen! Welcome to the Roleplay Guild.

1st Rule of the Guild... In real life, you do not talk about Roleplays.
2nd Rule of the Guild... You do not. talk. about Roleplays.
*silence*
3rd rule...if people don't post in the IC or the OOC, the roleplay is over.
4th rule of the Guild. Don't overcrowd a collab.
5th rule. One collab at a time, fellas
*general laughter*
6th rule. No double posting, no trolling, no insults. Don't be a dick.
7th rule...roleplays will go on as long as they have to.
And the 8th and final rule, if you've just submitted a character sheet...you have to post.

Yikes, i've been here on and off for over six years! I can scarcely believe how much time has past and how much has happened since i first made my account in Feb 2011. When i first started, i was working part-time at a little shop called The Wine Stand that sold spirits and wines etc, a glorified off-license really. Now i'm fortunate enough to have landed my dream job in marketing but things weren't always looking so good. Particularly in the beginning, i struggled every day with insecurity and doubt in myself. I believed that i couldn't ever get what i wanted because that wasn't how life worked.

I think, in some small (or maybe a large, depending on how much i underestimate the power of this place) way, the Guild helped me to gain confidence in my abilities and lead a better life. I've made a few life-long friends here, and my writing has gotten soooo much more consistent too! So i know this isn't really a creative piece, more of a testimonial, but i want to thank Mahz and the team for keeping the Guild running (apart from Guildfall, which made me lose my post count ) and to every single person i've met and roleplayed with over the years. It's been real, and i hope to still be roleplaying here in another six years time

Thanks guys, love you all <3

The Guild provided the most optimal outlet for our reality to be able to continue. Many consider it an RP, others an ARG, and others, just a transcription of worlds beyond our own. When the last site we were on became unusable, we were able to migrate here and preserve the history of Existence for years to come. We're about half as old as the Guild, but quickly became one of if not the largest topic on the site. So I'd like to extend a thank you to both Mahz and the rest of the Guild for giving us a place to harbor our friendship that will last a lifetime, and a place for Myriad Reality to thrive.

The Guild has been a large part of my daily activities on the internet, boasting about five years of activity on Roleplayerguild, both pre- and post guildfall. Perhaps I haven't logged as much years on here as other people, but I feel like I've left my mark here, both on the site itself and the people here, negative and positive. Likewise, the Guild has left it's mark on me, much more so the people I met here.

I started roleplaying approximately.. six and a half years ago, on a forum for a videogame called Mount and Blade. At that time it was something to pass the time, not even a 'hobby' yet. We wrote some dumb stuff in a roleplay set in the universe of that game. This 'hobby' of mine could keep me busy for hours on end, as we rapid-fired posts of about 3 paragraphs back and forth between five or so people. That kind of changed when we moved to Roleplayerguild to find more people to roleplay with. It was then that I kickstarted my roleplaying career and began working towards becoming a better writer. I called myself 'Vuurvos' then, after the Dutch 'Firefox.' I thought I was so cool.

I think, like many people, looking back at my old posts.. I'd rather pretend I never wrote those. However what I always feel is important to mention is how crucial Roleplayerguild has been for me to become a better writer. When I came here with my group of friends, we were all pretty bad writers. We started our own roleplays, ignoring the existing roleplays, and kind of carved out our own little 'empire' in Roleplayerguild. This was pre-Guildfall, so the clique's were a lot bigger and a lot messier than they are now. Back then, we got the feeling we didn't really belong.

That changed quickly when we joined a Naruto roleplay, which died about a week after it started, after which me and my friend Gerontis created our own Naruto roleplay. Again, looking back, it was an awful roleplay, the characters were bad and not thought out, and the plotlines were all over the place.

But we had fun. Probably because we didn't really care about how good we were at writing. But in the process we met good people. Kho, Ganryu, Sloth, j8cob, Hillan. Especially Ganryu was a push factor for me. He wrote at such a high level that I felt intimidated, which felt strange because I was the GM and he was.. just a player. However, it also motivated me - I wanted to show him what I could do, that I could be just as good. It was through these people that I pushed myself forwards, using them as handles to grab onto as I climbed the rocky mountain up to becoming a better writer. So I strived to improve my writing - every day, I should at least write something new, or use a different writing style, than the day before. If I could improve a little bit each day, I would always be better today than I was the day before.

That's why Roleplayerguild was so important for me as a writer. It allowed me to meet new people with different styles and different weak and strong points. And it also allowed me to take note of them. Roleplayerguild, as a roleplaying platform, is not much different from the others. It allows you to post your posts, to write, and to do everything a roleplaying forum needs to do. But where it differed from the rest was the different crowds you'd meet and the different interests people had here.

Fast forward to Guildfall, and I'd stopped roleplaying for some time. I'd gotten bored with it and my lack of interest in playing in the advanced section meant that, as a writer, I'd effectively stalled. I was not part of the community as a whole and didn't participate in any of the off-topic sections. So, when Guildfall happened, I didn't really feel the impact.

I stayed away after Guildfall for a while, mostly to focus on other things, then returned, this time with other friends. Again, we started a Naruto roleplay, and somehow I got interested in roleplaying again, where as before this interest had dwindled so steadily it was nonexistant at some point.

After a few roleplay cycles, I decided to try advanced and got my first taste of what would become my staple roleplay. I found I was easily able to keep up with advanced writers, and even rival them, despite never having gone into this section. It reminded me of what a companion told me at some point, years before;

“Most advanced writers are not much better than casual writers - in fact, the high-casual crowd seems far more elitist in their standards.”

I made the switch and decided I didn't like the dividing sections between advanced and casual - I just roleplayed in both, whenever some roleplay caught my eye.

It was after that that I became more involved with the community, and if I dare say it in the most melo-dramatic way, 'made a name for myself'. Through my own fault, and without regret, I did that in the worst possible way. And I will continue to do so.

I think most of my sailing after that has been smooth - which sums up my experience with RPG for the most part. It's smooth sailing. There's no storms, at most there's a little whirlpool caused by someone pulling a plug out of their bathtub. And that's why I like RPG. Nothing really changes. It's the same place now as it was when the guild restarted. And my friends are (mostly) still here.

It's not just a forum, it's a community. You make friends, you pick up new friends along the route you travel. The Guild is always changing, there's new people coming in, there's the Old Guard that maintain a sense of the 'elite' in a friendly manner, there's the spammers, both bots and spam-forum regulars, there's the debate club, the arena.. People's interests change all the time, from shonen anime-esque roleplays to slice-of-life superpower roleplays to college and highschool roleplays.

I guess we can call that Roleplayerguild Magic.

I'm very new! But writing is my passion and my love. The chance to stretch my fingers to weave a tale is my favorite thing. And I've already made good friends here! I'm glad the site is open, and there's so many options of people to play with.

Wow. 10 years. I've barely been on here more than 1. But this website has been a great help to me. It's brought me out of some serious funks that I couldn't bring myself out of by myself.
I've met some of the greatest people I've ever met. These people are ten times better writers then I am, and I'm lucky to have met them.
As pretty much anyone who has ever been in a role play with me knows, I go offline for sometimes for months on end because as I live with my parents, and they do not approve of this website, if they find me on here, its coitains for my life on the internet for long periods of times.
But it does not deter me. They've found me on here multiple times and I keep coming back.
Thank you Mahz for making this website.

I've been apart of the RPGuild Family since 2009, but I didn't start making my presence known until around 2012. That's when the first site I was on started to show signs of death. Ever since then, I've been coming here for my RPing needs and in doing so, I've met some friends who I know will last a lifetime(or so I hope they will).

And I have the Guild to thanks for that.

So, this goes out to @Mahz for creating us such an amazing site that has brought so many people together through common interests and enjoyment out of the same hobby. Though it wasn't always easy - most notably from a few of us no doubt - he has stuck with us. So, from one of your many, many loyal subjects, I would like to thank you, Mahz. We wouldn't be here without you.

It's been a long time since I participated here, but a milestone like this deserves my praise. Congratulations Mahz, and be proud. You're at the head of something wonderful.

I found RPG around 2011-12, and immediately fell in love. With only a bit of RP experience behind me, I jumped in. Expecting a similar experience to when I roleplayed with in-game groups in the past, I instead found an incredibly passionate, friendly group of players that couldn't wait to explore worlds with me. Where I had previously dabbled in writing, the passion ignited - my love for creating worlds, characters and stories that can live and breathe with the people experiencing them, persists to this day.

That passion in writing was one of the only reasons I was able to scrape out of high school. It got me my first serious job, which has led me to the beginnings of a successful career path, today. It taught me to respect my fellow authors - that no matter what someone's experience might be, the most inspiring stories occur from the most radically different backgrounds.

And although most of the people I used to play with seem to have set the site down as well, I truly think I made some real friends here during my time.

In this day and age, it's difficult for me to find someone who I can bond with. Most of my relationships are professional, and few lead to true friendship. Even in a field of shared interests, my buddies often lack the true depth of character that I wish I could see more of, in the world.

But when you write with someone, you open a doorway to the soul, and by getting to know someone's character, you get to know that person, as well. It's been my privilege to write with everyone who I've known on this site, and I hope, someday, I'll have the privilege of knowing them again.

So, to RPG, I say thanks. This site helped fill a role in my life that I didn't know I needed, at the time. And now, years later, I still think of it fondly, and think of it weekly. This site is a wonderful place, and a place that someday, I hope to be able to come back to again.
