Reginald Keystone

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

Aziza's actions, despite Reginald's bellowing threat of imminent flogging, gave him a moment of pause. At the very least, she asked permission before approaching Vera's unconscious form. It might be a short span of time before a Medical Officer appeared, and as long as Vera wasn't being crowded by multiple people of questionable medicinal training, Reginald felt some better about it. He supposed that people might have a greater sense of control over the scene unfolding before them if they played an active hand in it; it was human nature. Of course, it was also human nature to sit back and ignore something like this unless under direct scrutiny if they were under the impression that more qualified persons were nearby. It seemed some in their Fellowship had the exact opposite reaction.

The Lord Major nodded his acceptance of the proposal. "Inhaling a bit of distillate vapour shouldn't harm matters, I'd wager. Do continue - exercise caution, if you would." He looked also to the question posed by the starlet, Josephine, "Madame, I appreciate your zeal to assist, but at present, doing little (and from a distance) is admirable help, and you have my thanks for it." There was no malice in his voice, but a tenseness was there. It was covered mostly by a commanding personality, though it could not fully stamp out the old man's concern for the woman with whom he had a mutual claim as family.

It wasn't that Reginald didn't notice the timing of it all, either. Coupled with reactions from certain people, it seemed a message was being sent. As he was closer than most to the latest piece of interpersonal drama, he didn't immediately put it all together. But the usually astute Lord Major could tell that there was something going on with is nephew, Vera, and that glory-seeking American fellow. Perhaps he should ask into this when things calmed down. But not Peter. If there was something wrong with the advancement of his courtship to the Lady Munn, he should ask for a woman's opinion as he could better suss out a man's in that instance, being a survivor of a failed marriage of noble families. And if there was not, he did not want to put that kind of doubt into Peter. The man had gone through enough. But to faint? It provoked thought.

He had other things to speak about with differing members of his Fellowship too, before he got to the business of quartermastering and supplying their venture. But this would wait until Vera was a touch more vertical. And breakfast was over. But mostly Vera.

Glancing over toward Aziza as she came up toward Vera as well, he gave simply a mild look of concern as he glanced back down toward Vera for a moment, he did find it particularly curious that she had just fainted, especially when, from a quick glance, she didn't seem to be particularly ill. Of course, Harry was not a medical professional, and the more intricate complications which could have arisen in the field of romance often eluded him, but he certainly still did not think the lady Munn had just fainted due to a fever or any particular illness. No, there had to have been more to this than it seemed.

However, Harry was not himself the kind to interfere, and even in retirement he was quite content, and infact defaulting on following the Lord-Major's orders, not taking a step closer even as Aziza stepped up and offered the small bottle. As she removed the cork, he was still close enough to catch a whiff though, recoiling for a moment. He'd had the kind of stuff before, or at least stuff which came across that strong, some of the men he'd served with had tried their hand at brewing in the field, in some vague attempt to enjoy a spot of booze before they went charging into their deaths. Most of the time, the result was undrinkable, but in certain cases it had come out strong enough to give one quite a kick up the ass, in the same way he imagined even a tiny amount of liquid in Aziza's bottle would do.

William Drake

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

William glanced briefly from person to person as they all offered to help Vera, from offers of strong booze to suggestions of a doctor or a bed to lay down in. At first he considered they might have been what was needed, but as he watched Vera more it continued to dawn on even him that something wasn't quite right. She was definitely not sick, or at least, not in the medical sense. She had looked ill when she came in, but as things had developed, he couldn't help but wonder if it wasn't a normal kind of illness per-se, perhaps someone was making her ill. Had it been him? Was she really so disgusted to see him when he arrived that he had driven her to this sort of reaction?

No, surely it was something else, or perhaps she simply thought he was there to ruin her lovely moment with Peter. Yes, that had to be it, she was so upset or annoyed by his arrival, apparently ruining what was to be such a lovely day with her and Peter, now off to be courted and happily wed eventually by the fantastic British officer. It was enough to bring that ill feeling back to his stomach. It didn't occur to him at all that the sickness and the green tint to his skin that it brought was not any sort of illness, but envy, he still could not shake that intense and burning jealousy which he now held for Peter, and it made him furious.

Location: The road towards the museum!

The journey towards her destination proved quite adventurous in it's own little way. Everywhere she passed by, merchants would call out to her, there would be stalls and other shops prepared with all manners of interesting stock of items that would attract her attention. Mosi smiled to everyone who called out to her, would glance at the things proposed in passing, but didn't really stop to browse. She had decided to not lose time on her way to the museum! Once there, she'd watch about and on her way back to the hotel to check in her room, she'd browse the stalls then.

Still about halfway there she finally was. This place was amazing in it's mysterious way! So different from her homeland. Everything had a unique air to it, the very presence was alluring in a way she had not felt since she discovered the occult. She was going to enjoy her stay here indeed. 'Well, no time to waste! Better reach the museum with a good time left so I can use the time afterwards to browse stalls on my way back~!' She smiled to herself and continued walking towards her objective. She especially liked the color of one of the silk cloths she was proposed some distance back. That was definitely on her goals now, maybe a nice shawl she could use for mask in the desert? So many possibilities!

Nora Kingston

Location: Garden City - Apartment 301 Maratos Building at No.6 Walda Pasha

Nora was perhaps relieved to see that rather than Neema's son at the desk, it was a different man entirely. She had never seen him before but couldn't help but note how handsome he was. One of her sisters would have swooned, despite their happy marriages, but Nora paid no undue attention to his looks. Courtship and marriage were decidedly not for her. The only man that she ever had such feelings for would be Isaac Newton, though it was more appreciation for his invention of calculus.

"I would very much appreciate it if you could see this letter delivered to Lady Munn," Nora explained, holding out the letter she had penned to Lady Munn for the clerk to see. She had already sealed and addressed the letter, hoping that her reply would be received by Lady Munn before noon. She didn't want to invite Neema to lunch herself and would much prefer for Lady Munn to reply that Neema was welcome. It would be more proper that way. His voice was kind and that much was good, but it was still entirely possible for him to be as pigheaded as the doctor. Some were sexist out of kindness, after all, and treated women like glass dolls.

She smiled slightly, recalling that the man had called her Miss. It was pleasant to hear, much more soothing on her ears than the ghastly Lady. While titles suited others, they never suited Nora. She only wished manners of address that she had earned and her luck at being the daughter of an earl did not merit such a title. It was not as if she had earned her birth--it had been a matter of chance, the life that she had been born to. She perhaps could have been born the child of a pauper or a thief.

"If it could be in her hands as soon as is possible, that would be quite welcome as well," Nora added, making the time sensitivity of the letter clear. It wouldn't help if the letter was delivered after the meeting time had already passed, after all.

Barracks: Aziza nodded towards Lauren as she handed over the bottle before looking over to Josephine and giving her an understanding look. "I think a medic has been called," she said before glancing around. She hoped one had and in fact one indeed had been summoned, but had been done by Lord Major Keystone in signals and not words, so it was really anyone's guess that was not in the British Military.

Sighing a bit to herself she turned back to Lauren an gave her a nod as if to say go ahead once the Lord Major had given his consent. She hoped this would work. Her eyes drifted to William for a minute, he looked green as he watched Vera. Vera still hadn't come around but then again the bottle was waiting to be pushed under her nose. Thankfully though she was breathing evenly and there didn't seem to be any outward sign of distress. In fact the green sickly color that had been on her skin seemed to have gone away as she lay there suffering from the vapors. Hopefully once Lauren gave the woman a good sniff of the spirits her own would come around. The medic was on his way but having to have to run from the other side of the barracks where the infirmary was located was causing him to take a little longer than he would have liked.

Garden City: "Oh yes, of course," he said taking the letter and giving a glance down at the address located on it. "I shall make sure to have it in her hands within the hour Miss," he said with a bit of lilt to his voice as he tucked the letter within his coat pocket. "I was just going to be heading out myself to run a few errands for my Aunt, I will be happy to see to this first."

Shuffling the papers he was working on his head snapped to the side as Neema came waltzing into the room. "There you are," she said as she handed over a slip of paper to the man at the desk. "Oh, Miss Kingston. I see you have met my nephew," she said with a smile.

"Not exactly, we haven't bee introduced," he admitted as he grinned. Neema chuckled and nodded.

"Well, this is Miss Nora Kingston, a woman as intelligent as she is beautiful. And this dear child is my nephew Aton," the old woman said introducing the two.

"Then she must be even more intelligent than you Auntie," he said with a broad smile, giving his aunt a bit of a wink.

The Road To The Museum: The roads were growing more and more crowded by the minute. This was going to take a bit longer to get form point A to point B than originally thought. Problem was not only the locals and the tourist who were out and about but there was an overturned cart at the next cross walk which was causing traffic to back up, horses to get antsy, and everyone and their brother to stop and stare.

Thankfully no one seemed to be hurt but there were plenty of dates and silks that were getting nearly ruined in the streets. granted some people didn't thin they were ruined beyond use as several local urchins ran in grabbed a few things along the gutters and ran off again. Men yelling at other men to get a move on but who could tell if they didn't speak the language. What could be told just from the intonation alone was that they were royally ticked off.

Josephine Clark

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

Josephine threw her hands up and stepped back. She wanted to help, but it seems that the fat man just didn't want it. She was good at reading people and the man was still clearly not a fan of hers, despite multiple attempts to get on his good side. Stubborn, old fool. Aziza comforted her and she took a deep breath before smiling and nodding. The important thing was to get Vera safely away and awake and get her the medical attention she needs.

What was the cause of this though? She knew some women fainted to gain the attention of men (though she doubted Vera was the type to do so). Could it be the heat? Was it something she ate? Did she drink too much? Either way, she remembered that Vera didn't look too good when she walked in before. Curiosity usually got the best of her. She would have to find out later. She walked over to Haakon, who seemed to be deep in thought. No doubt his journalistic mind was going absolutely mad.

"Darling, you look like you are thinking. I wonder if we perhaps share similar thoughts. The arrival of Mr. Drake along with Peter and Vera, Vera fainting and Peter walking away before it happened. It could all be chalked up to coincidence or it could be this "curse" everyone is so keen on talking about. Either way, there's more going on here that meets the eye. We need to get to the bottom of it."

Lauren looked towards Aziza seeing her friend giving her a nod for the go ahead, as well as Reginald's okay to approach she wasn't a medical profession unlike her mother was, as Lauren approached and knelt down next to Reginald. Lauren uncorked the bottle giving it another quick sniff, which made her turn her head away. "Hopefully this will work." Lauren said to herself as she gently lifted up Vera's hand, keeping the bottle up right and brought it up to the woman's nose. Lauren looked over towards Reginald giving him a friendly smile, hopefully Vera would wake up after taking a sniff of the bottle.

Lauren gently ran her hand through Vera's hair in a comforting way somehow hoping that it would at least get some form of reaction to it, she started to wonder herself what was the cause of it. She knew that Vera had drank quiet a bit, well at least what her body was able to handle from last night. Waking up with a hangover was always never a fun thing, but Vera had been awake for awhile now as Lauren continued to hold the bottle there. The medic was for sure taking his time to get to the Officer's mess hall of the barracks, though she wasn't sure how long of a walk it would be.

Haakon J. Elvsgaard

Location:Qasr El Nil Barracks

"Indeed, dear Jo. Indeed I'm thinking."

Haakon had by now resolved to observe the situation unfold itself, silently standing aside and making sure he wasn't standing in anyone's way. Perhaps he could have grown content with the Lord-Major's wish to keep Vera untouched until a doctor arrived, although he silently questioned his easily acceptence of the smelling salt again brought up the prospect of Reginald wishing to keep specifically Haakon from his niece. This, alongside other thoughts and ideas that gave him his thoughtfull look and Josephine's attention.

"Alhough the idea of the Curse is intruiging, I'm leaning towards your first point. For everyone's sake, we need to find out what's happening to not just her, but us all. Perhaps we should direct our inquiry at Mr. Drake, after I've had a friendly chat with the honourable Lord-Major?" Haakon spoke calmly and quietly back to his American friend, his gaze leaving Vera's still unmoving body to look at Josephine only for a moment. He would have loved to speculate and theorize what the heck was actually going on, but the constant reminders of his signatured silence made him careful of what he could and could not speak of. Especially now that he had to be interrogated by the elder Keystone. Yes, he was sure it wouldn't be a friendly chat.

"But before I forget, the dream. I saw you in it, like Miss Ridgeway saw the others. Did you see me there, standing in that river of blood, Jo?"

Location: The road towards the museum!

The commotions on the streets only increased to no surprise in Priscilla's mind. It made sense with the progression of the day for the people on the street to increase in number. It was pretty impressive and the whole atmosphere of Cairo added so much more to the experience in moving about. The only bad thing about it was the fact that her journey to the museum seemed to need more time than she expected. She even reached an overturned cart! She noted the amount of people that seemed to be blocking the way and most of those simply watching as if they were looking at a spectacle. She disliked people who didn't try to help in obviously unfortunate and uncomfortable situation for everyone. It wasn't about spoiling someone and making them bad gift in the long run, this was about simple help. Sadly she didn't exactly have the muscle strength to help in turning over the overturned cart.

“Time for a detour then.” She stated, deciding to walk a single block around and continue her journey that way. She'd get to see some more of the city and still get to the museum in decent time. She didn't really have anything to do anyways. Today the plan was to go to the museum, get her room in the hotel afterwards and find a nice evening pub or anything for a drink of the end of a hot day. All was going to be well when it ended well!

Reginald Keystone

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

"...where the devil is that blasted doctor...?" thought Reginald, his gaze drifting from Vera on the ground to the door nearest the building's exterior. Granted, it wasn't the Doc's fault that it took a soldier more than a minute to scuttle along to Medical, explain the situation, and hurry back; but the Lord Major was in a mindset of decided contrariness until such time as he knew Vera was going to be okay. Speaking of which, the one attempt to rouse the woman without hands lain upon her or her face being poked by persons lacking medical training was underway. Apprehensive curiosity took the man. Such an attempt seemed valid - he had been subjected to it one or twice, or seven or eight(y) times over the course of his drinking career, though much of the time it resulted in spewing abdominal gravy about the floorboards. Of course, that was due to an overabundance of drink, not whatever was afflicting Vera. Hopefully, if successful, the floorboards would remain unsullied.

Then the oddest thing occurred: Reginald picked up the greater part of a short conversation taking place within a couple meters of himself. It was surreal, bordering on the truly unbelievable; persons under the protection and scrutiny of the Royal Military were openly discussing The Curse and dropping names involved with their little venture in front of non-military, indigenous personnel in direct violation of their Papers of Nondisclosure. Not to mention the fact that they seemed to have renewed an interest in Peter again. The Lord Major looked over to the pair with an incredulous look bearing down upon them. They didn't necessarily have to be great friends, but some professional courtesy was demanded in this instance. Particularly as the penalty for doing so was severe, self-preservation might have been an acceptable motivation.

It looked very much like they were bound and determined to railroad their efforts. If the local constabuary got word of this before they were comfortably underway, they had problems. Reginald gave a sidelong glance to the representative from the Cairo Prison to see if he was reacting to anything that had been said thusfar. With luck, he was distracted by an English Breakfast and his adoptive niece falling to the floor. Fingers crossed. This would definitely be addressed after Vera was seen to.

Standing alongside Aziza and the Lord-Major as they went back and forth deciding how best to help Vera. The medic was supposedly on their way, but the more Harry looked down at Vera, the less he figured the medic would actually have been needed. Chances were, he expected the medic to arrive, say everything was fine, and move on. Still, he supposed it was worth having someone look into it, someone didn't just faint for no reason, even if the actual reason was far more say, psychological, than medical. Sighing, he shook his head as he looked down to Vera, turning his gaze back toward Aziza as Lauren moved to give Vera a whiff of the spirits.

Harry's attention was momentarily piqued as he turned his gaze over toward Haakon and Josephine. He only heard their discussion in passing, frankly not paying much attention as they spoke towards each other. He did not say anything just yet, though he appreciated as he looked around that no one outside of their little cadre seemed to have noticed the ongoing discussion. He wasn't sure why they would discuss it so openly, when it came to the disclosure agreement or otherwise, having seemingly random people open to hearing suggestions of a 'curse' or 'visions' - even Harry wasn't exactly too keen on talking about it privately, or to himself. He shook the thought from his mind however, turning his gaze back down to Vera as he waited.

William Drake

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

Although William noticed that the green colour to Vera's skin had disappeared (and now presently had begun to occupy his own face), his look of concern didn't falter as he looked down at the woman, watching as Lauren moved closer to wave the bottle under her nose. He'd had such a treatment before, mostly on the journey over to Egypt from the States. Travelling with a number of raucous American treasure hunters like himself had been considerably more stress on his liver than William had initially hoped for when he came to Cairo. If anything, treatment like this - which had usually resulted in a rapidly over-turned stomach - was one of the reasons he'd split from the gentlemen he'd befriended on his trip over.

Alas, Vera was not under this kind of stress due to an intake of alcohol, or at least, he assumed she was not, unless of course her and Peter had decided to slip off for a bit of a champagne breakfast to celebrate his proposal. Considering his sense of frustration and envy at that time, he certainly wouldn't have ruled out that as a possibility. He did try to shake the thought from his mind however, the less stress which entered his mind at that point, the better. Sighing, he shook his head and just looked back down to Vera, waiting for her to recover from her current malady.

Nora Kingston

Location: Garden City - Apartment 301 Maratos Building at No.6 Walda Pasha

"Thank you very much," Nora replied, smiling a bit as the man took the letter. At the mention of his aunt, Nora couldn't help but ponder whom he was referring to. She figured there was a chance that it was Neema, but it felt slim at best. While Neema's son may work in the building, that certainly didn't mean that the rest of Neema's family had to as well. And of course, had the letter not been time sensitive, she likely would have insisted for the man to take care of the errands first. But she needed to get the reply to Lady Munn before it would be too late in the day.

Nora raised a bit of an eyebrow as she was proven incorrect, with Neema entering the room and mentioning that the new clerk was her nephew. There was a hint of a blush to her cheeks as the introductions began to progress, combined with a slight acceleration of her heartbeat. While most girls would have had their heartbeat accelerate from excitement, thrilled at the prospect of an introduction to a handsome man, Nora felt slightly queasy. She never could quite explain it, her fear of marriage - yet it was a fear that was part of her, a fear that defined her.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Aton," Nora said kindly, with the hint of a smile. She was about to insist that her intelligence was meager at best, yet Neema's words from before echoed back to her. Downgrading her own accomplishments and intelligence certainly wouldn't qualify as believing in herself. It would quite certainly constitute the opposite. And of course, her cheeks still had a bit of a flush to them.

"Then I must imagine that you are blind to your dear aunt's beauty, as she is just as intelligent as I," Nora quipped, her smile widening slightly.

October 4th, 1924 - 10:25 A.M. Local Time

Barracks: Aziza glanced over towards Josephine and Haakon, only half hearing the conversation since she listening more to Lauren at the time. Though from what she had caught she wasn't too worried about. She wanted to know what was going on as well. Granted she wasn't too interested in why Vera fainted, between drinking and what seemed to be tense between Vera and Mr. Drake it seemed kind of obvious to her. As far as the whole mystery, hell yes she wanted to know. She trusted Josephine, Haakon not so much but that was only because of her fear of her ex-husband finding her and the attack the night before. She just hoped the journalist had as much integrity as Josephine seemed to think he did.

Glancing around she noted the man from the prison was still there and it seemed he wasn't paying attention right then. Apparently it wasn't his concern that someone passed out and he was staying out of the way. Probably a good thing. Looking back to Josephine she put her finger to her lips and motioned towards the prison man. As much as she figured they wanted to talk about things, they had signed the paper not to discuss it in front of anyone that wasn't part of the military or their group. That man obviously wasn't. Looking over at Mr. Drake, she remembered he wasn't either. He wasn't there to sign any papers the night before, he wasn't a member of the military from what she knew. So he was another they couldn't talk about such things in front of currently.

As the bottle was held in front Vera, she breathed it in. A little at first and she responded, somewhat. Her head turning slightly and she seemed to sigh in a half asleep state. "Will..." she seemed to whisper as her hand waved lightly in front of her face. Coming to slightly caused her to breath in more deeply and then her eyes snapped open and she gasped as she slid back from it quickly. "Oh God! What is that!" she exclaimed as she half sat up before pressing her hand to her head and swooning slightly. "Oh my... why is the room spinning?" Placing her other hand on the ground she tried to stay sitting up as she looked around confused to why everyone was gathered around her and she was on the floor. "Um hello?"

It was about that time that the Medic came rushing into the room with his pack and over to them. Aziza placing her hand in Harry's and taking a step back to give the man more room. "Well hello to you too," he aid as he knelt down and placed his hand to her head. "From what I was told you had a momentary lapse of consciousness."

"Oh dear..." she muttered under her breath, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.

"No worries Lady Munn, just hold still and let me check you," he said in a calm voice as he checked her eyes and her heart rate. Vera bit her bottom lip lightly as she sat there, her eyes drifting to William and then looking away quickly. The Medic quirked a brow before taking a breath and helping Vera to her feet. Vera stumbled slightly, the Medic slipping an arm around her to steady her. "Lord Major, I believe she is just a bit dizzy but I will take her to the infirmary to be sure," he said towards Keystone, he figured she was fine but he wasn't going to take any shortcuts when it came to the Lord Majors niece.

"You there, give us a hand would you?" he said singling out Mr. Drake.

"What?" Vera asked confused, her eyes darting over to William and feeling her cheeks warm again. Him? Carrying her? Oh this couldn't be happening....

"He seems strapping enough to carry you, you shouldn't walk right now Lady Munn," the medic assured her. Mr. Drake was the tallest and seemed to be the most fit out of the men present that were not on guard. The Medic himself was younger and while he had drug men from foxholes this was a lady and he figured needed a bit more of a delicate touch than the potato sack treatment.

"No, I am fine I assure you. I can walk," she said taking a step and nearly hitting the floor again. The medic steadied her and gave her an incredulous look. Sighing deeply she nodded slightly, acquiescing in silence.

"Good, no come now. Help a lady out," he Medic said motioning for William to come take Vera off his hands.

Garden City: Aton chuckled slightly and shook his head a bit. "I see all my aunt's beauty, I just know a diamond when I see one," he said with a bit of a wink.

"Oh you, get out of here before you you make a bigger fool of yourself," Neema chuckled smacking her nephew slightly. He mockingly rubbed his arm and laughed.

"Very well, I will get going. I have a message to deliver," he added, his eyes not leaving Nora as he gave her a parting nod before hurrying on his way and out the door to deliver the message and run errands. Neema shook her head with an understanding aunt look before glancing back over to Nora.

"You know, he isn't one to flatter a lady if he didn't think it were true. Glad to see my nephews eye sight is holding strong," she said as he left. "I believe I have just a few more things to tend to before I am finished. If you need anything, please just ring the bell in your room. I shouldn't be but a few, if you would like I believe we should visit an old friend of mine at the museum, the curator and I go way back. He might be able to help us."

The Road To The Museum: It would take a few to get the alleyway but once there the crowds thinned substantially. Most were focused on the over turned cart and it left the side street more open than the rest of the road in that area. Mosi would be able to detour around the cart crash and crowd without problem it seemed. The largest amount of "things" in the alleyway was a bunch of cat mulling about and meowing as they hurried from this way to that. One just sitting there perched on top of a statue of what looked to be a pharaoh, eying Mosi with its golden eyes. It's short cream colored fur shining in the light of the alleyway as it meowed slightly.

While the side street was more open there were still vendors there but they seemed to cater more to the local crowd and not the tourists. There were not lines of tables or stalls set up selling the latest gaudy trinkets. The food was home style and not catering to the tourists. Older women sat there cooking in their open kitchens with large windows and trays laid out for them to serve if people wanted. The smell of incense was heavier in the closer surroundings and there was even a few places that were selling various items that looked to be older.

Lauren continued to hold the bottle towards Vera's nose until she finally got a reaction from her taking in a deep breath, then it was Vera mentioning Drake by name then waving her hand from her face. When the woman took another deep breath Vera came up, smiling softly as she saw her friend jolting up after the smell of the spirits she held in her hand. "You somehow ended up passing out." Lauren said with a soft smile as she closed the cork of the bottle, looking over towards the Lord Major giving him a reassuring smile towards him. Lauren was glad to see that she was up and awake now. Then the medic finally came to the scene carrying his bag of medical supplies, Lauren took a step away letting the man do his job.

Lauren wasn't a medical professional at all so it wasn't her job but she was still worried about her friend, she moved back over towards Aziza and Harry looking at the two of them. Then Lauren's attention went to Vera and the medic again, as he pointed out towards William asking for him to assist her taking her to the infirmary. "This should be interesting." Lauren said softly seeing Vera's reaction towards him and her constantly avoiding eye contact with him, she knew something was going on between them. "Do you want me to come with you?" Lauren asked Vera, to hopefully at least comfort her in some way.

It just occurred to her that the man wasn't in military garb. He seemed different. It then dawned on her that she shouldn't be talking about any of this. She signaled for Haakon to stop talking, "Ah, perhaps we'll discuss this later, darling. When we are in private without so many ears around."

Thankfully, the Medic finally made their way there as Vera recovered. She breathed a small sigh of relief. The medic motioned for Mr. Drake to help him carry Vera and Josephine couldn't help but hold in a giggle as Vera stumbled to not have him help. The fact she was trying so hard not to be together with him made her sad. It was obvious to her that Vera liked William. Was it obvious to Vera though? Either way, she was thankful that Vera was getting the help she needed.

She had a feeling the Lord Major wouldn't have her helping so she waited with Haakon. She expected a lecture coming from her big mouth. She motioned for the Lord Major to get his attention, "Before you say anything, I am sorry for my big mouth. I was always terrible at keeping secrets, but I will do my best to not let it happen again. I'll assume you would rather not have me join Vera towards the infirmary, so if there is nothing else I would like to freshen up in my room before the day's events."

Haakon J. Elvsgaard

Haakon kept his mouth shut, oh yes, but it wasn't because Josephine told him or that Aziza gestured him to, after all she had aimed that plea of silence towards the American, not the Norwegian. Instead it was the look the Lord-Mayor sent them. No, not look, it was as if the core of molten steel inhabitated his eyes as they shot daggers at Haakon and Josephine; that was at least how Haakon felt it like. And he guessed he saw why.

Following the Lord-Mayor's motion of the head, he found himself looking somewhere between the food and themselves. A man, native from the looks of things yet without the uniform of a soldier, gave him the look of an outsider of the miltiary establishment. Josephine's insistance of silence on the matter, only sought to strenghten his suspicion that this was a man who better not hear their speculation. Not that he believed that name-dropping the Curse - who hadn't thought they'd been affected by the Curse since it was first made known world-wide? - could do any harm, but the impending 'talk' with the honourable Lord-Mayor made him keep his mouth shut.

Contrary to what the others might have thought of him and his motives, Haakon let out a sigh of relief as Lady Munn woke up from her state of whatever had happened. And it didn't pass him that it wasn't thanks to the medical expert's work that she awoke, quite contrary to what the Lord-Mayor had seemingly preferred, and the sigh mixed itself with a small smile one might confuse with relief. In fact, it might be the source of a good joke, if Haakon had been allowed to actually write. As Vera almost fell again and clearly needed help, the smile faded, replaced by a thoughtfull look. And while Josephine opened converstation with the honourable Lord-Mayor in an effort to apologize - which Haakon saw as noble, but highly unnecessary since he had difficulty in seeing what harm it had done -, Haakon let his gaze fall down to a speck of dirt lying just in front of his feet. He wasn't going to say anything, because it would surely fall under some obscure part of the agreement. Perhaps if he kept his mouth fully shut and simply looked remorseful, it would help.

Priscilla Harker

Location: The road towards the museum!(The mysterious filled with adventure Side Street!)

While making the detour, one thing attracted Mosi's attention pretty much right away. It was the cat. There was a cat sitting on the statue of a pharaoh. It had golden eyes and cream colored fur. She felt attracted towards the feline out of curiosity among her general love of cats. She liked them a lot, to the point that her nickname 'Mosi' actually meant cat. She looked at the cat for a good good minute or two, admiring it's beauty, before she finally moved away, ending in the side street that was not covered with the gaudy tourists attractions.

This place was now something she liked a whole lot more than the streets earlier, she would buy the silk from earlier, but the things here including food and the other trinkets, the ones here appeared a lot more interesting to her.

Her original plan to continue forwards toward the museum and not really waste time in sight seeing the tourist attractions was broken now that she found herself in a place that held just as much interest to her as the museum did. She was smiling as her pace of waling came to a near complete stop with her starting to stop and look about the things displayed and the food that was being prepared, both searching for something interesting to eat or to buy. Her priority was on older accessories, tools and local cuisine! Mostly the accessories though, they were with priority.

Harry Walsh

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

Harry sighed as he stood with Aziza, he noticed as she brought her finger to her lips, signing for Josephine and Haakon to hush their conversation. Casually, his eyes glanced from Aziza then to the Lord-Major and back to Haakon, he had to admit that the growing tension in the group, particularly between the journalist and a few other members of their party, had begun to grow into something of a concern for the retired soldier. In his experience, such rifts, minor or otherwise, only tended to grow more and more rather than resolving, and they could tend to mean life or death for a group in danger. They may not have been heading into a warzone, but there was an unmistakable danger about the events they were involved in, in Harry's eyes, it simply had not come to a head just yet.

Shaking the thoughts from his mind, Harry was returned to the present events as he finally saw the Medic come into the room. He didn't know the man, something he was pleased about in all honesty, since returning to Egypt Harry had often wondered about the possibility of running into one of the men he'd served alongside, and he wasn't entirely sure such a reunion would be a welcome one, it would still be rather raw. Watching as the man moved down to Vera and helped her up to her feet, Harry took a step back to give her some more room, unable to help but raise an amused eyebrow as the man began to insist that William, of all those there, be the one to carry Vera off to the sick bay.

William Drake

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

Sighing as he looked down at Vera, William's gaze drifted back and forth from Vera and Lauren as she held the bottle in front of Vera's face. While the silence in the room was broken by Vera's soft voice, William was too far away to hear clearly what she had said in her soft whisper, leaning closer for a moment before she suddenly slid back and sat up, rather quickly recovered from her faint status as she sat on the floor. His attention was ripped from her before he could say or do anything, spotting the Medic as he came in through William's peripherials. For now, William chose to remain quiet as he watched the man come closer to check her out, crossing his arms over his chest as he waited.

His gaze did catch hers as she briefly looked in his direction and then suddenly away, but he made no comment in regards to it. He found it odd that she looked so quickly away, perhaps she knew how angered, frustrated or annoyed by her relationship with Peter he was. Perhaps she knew but didn't care, she could have been intentionally trying to make him jealous as some sort of mockery, the gall! As the medic spoke up again, William's attention was dragged away again, his eyes focusing on the man as he raised an eyebrow, taking a moment or two to understand what he was asking of him.

William watched and listened as Vera insisted against it, saying she could walk, that she'd be fine, but still the Medic persisted. But why should William help? He was just a bystander now, he owed her nothing, for all he knew, Vera was quite possibly doing this with the intention of irritating him. No, he would not help her, he was his own man, he did not need to cow-tow to the likes of her, merely for the chance of being near her agai-. "Well, you heard him, doctor's orders." His mouth ran ahead of his brain, moving closer as he swept Vera off her feet, lifting her up as he started to carry her along after the medic.

Reginald Keystone

Location: Qasr El Nil Barracks

With Vera's sudden burst back into the realm of consciousness and the entrance of the Medial Officer, Reginald regained the vast majority of his earlier good spirits. There were always setbacks when getting underway with any assignment of any decent worth, and this was no exception. The fact that it happened to Vera, on the other hand, made it a lot more personal than most setbacks. The venerable officer made it a point to get with her just as soon as business was concluded to find out exactly what happened, seeing as his lack of discernible medical training would just put him in the way. "Yes, excellent. There there, Lady Munn, you do as the Doctor says; he shall have you up and cricketing in no time, you'll see." He was concerned. Something had to have caused this, and preferably not another one of those "visions". Yes, he would find out. But first, there was a matter to attend as the Medical Officer plied his trade.

Josephine's sudden apology took him unexpectedly. "Yes. Why, umm... Certainly, young miss. As it turns this hour, we've quite dodged the bullet." he still seemed more jovial than usual, even though his voice took on a sterner aspect, not unlike a lightly reprimanding father, "But care must be taken, always. Sinking ships, and whatnot..." The Lord Major cleared his throat, and continued in a more proper, businesslike manner, "I've no difficulty with you visiting Vera in the Infirmary, ordinary circumstances, but as it turns out we have a discussion to be had after breakfast proper; yourself, myself, and your man Haakon. We shall address the matter in the more private environs of my office, after you have, as you put it, "freshened up" a bit, yes?"

Nora Kingston

Location: Garden City - Apartment 301 Maratos Building at No.6 Walda Pasha

By the time Aton left, Nora was quite certain that her face was so flushed as to match the color of a tomato. Her face was gradually returning to its normal color and for not the first time, Nora was grateful that no one in her family was in sight. She doubted that she would ever hear the end of it from any of them, especially if her parents suddenly got it into their heads that they could marry off their youngest daughter after all.

"Th-that sounds like an excellent idea," Nora replied, incredibly aware of the color in her face. She smiled meekly at Neema, knowing that she had a breakfast in her room to attend to. She did need to eat and she would hate for the food that Neema had prepared to go to waste. "I will be sure to ring if I need anything, but you have already done so much for me, Neema, and I cannot imagine that I would be in need of anything else at this moment."

Nora then nodded at Neema as a means of farewell before heading back up towards her suite of rooms, closing the door behind her and letting out a bit of a sigh. She touched her hand to her cheek, feeling a bit of heat radiating still before closing her eyes. The sound of Spot dashing over towards her, nuzzling at her legs, caused Nora to open them again and look down fondly at the creature. It was all rather silly and childish, she decided, her embarrassment in front of Aton. She then took her seat and began to slowly eat her breakfast.
