While understandably, one must always differ to canon when crafting a culture, I prefer using canon as a foundation rather than a mold. Regardless of their methods and crafts, Ryla and Sheolred are both still very aggressive and confrontational, as all ogres are. They will take what they want with force and violence, be it magically or physically implemented. And while Sheolred may have very little interest in men, highly atypical of ogres, she gets her willies off of assaulting beautiful, strong, and/or young women, so it's not as if she is completely different. Sheolred just has a slightly altered focus. Rlya herself is also interested in men, however she has very fine taste for an ogre and won't simply accept any old guy she could easily capture; she wants a real prize, not scraps.
I'd only question if someone is breaking canon if it's really bizarre, like vampires who not only walk freely in the daylight, but also turns into giant furry lupine creatures, shoots dark energies out of their fingertips, can multiply into different copies of themselves, and can resurrect by making their spirit possess a corpse that shifts and alters into their original form. I wish I could say that was a made up example, but that's more or less what someone else thought vampires could do in a different RP I was in. "It's not overpowered, that's just how all vampires are" my arse. Having a weakness towards silver or holy objects isn't nearly as much of a deal breaker when you've already stomped out most of human civilization (Thus not many worshippers) and the silver thing only matters when they're weapons. Apparently you can use silverware just fine. Bleh.
