I bet it took lots of effort, but in two hours I'll be home and able to see everything correctly. And I see, when you meant customizable, you really mean it. Can't wait to be an agility/strength based marauder chopping everything with a two handed axe while avoiding all damage due to being lightly armored. The actions, which if I understood correctly relate to sword skills from SAO are also this loose?
Oh my, that was definitely a refreshing reply to read. As long as the classes can be played the way a person likes the best, then I certainly see no problems here.
I suppose with the idea I had, I'd put points into Agility/Strength, mostly with some Mana Mana tossed in to be able to use skills. Maybe find a way to use training to increase HP and other stats otherwise.
@Project Happy to hear that you are excited for it! :D Of course your character might be weak against opponents who are durable enough to survive you and counter-attack or people who can somehow kill your mobility (like an Ice Aspect with freezing powers). But that's where allies come in right? Actions are yes sort of like sword skills from SAO. But not exactly. For example, something like Dual-Wielding would fall under Skills not Actions. And yes they can be loose, just imagine them like Spells that aren't magical.
Not even a hi, Ogo? It's been ages, friend! How've you been lately?
O.O Well, that's an egg on my face. Heya buddy! I didn't recognize the avatar so I didn't read the name. It's been a long week and I, as usual, have been pretty sleep deprived. Joy joy T^T Anyway, it's great to see you! Err...whatever the online forum equivalent would be. I'm uh...well I'm holding in there. You?
I was wondering is, are we all going to have to be in the same type of guild or some sort of alliance to push the main plot on or is this pure open world? If it's the former or eventually will become the former, can we make evil characters? Like have a player in a version of a murder/PKer guild?
@Thecrash20 Yes, the former. And no it will not be a sandbox open world, there will be a set of plot to follow. As far as PK goes... the choice is up to you but other NPCs (player, NPCs) will be coming after you and your life will become rather miserable I'm afraid. If you wanna REALLY still do it well... find some friends?
I recognized the subclasses is not complete yet. I was wondering for the future condition of my character, will I be able to be a trainer and a mage as a subclass or vice versa?
So, aye. Just a real quick draft of a CS to see if I got everything correctly. Will meanwhile work on the background, for now. And: No personality section, that intended? If so, thanks, gosh. I hate these.
Name: Laura Grenville | Zero (Ingame name) Title: None. Appearance:
Except... the android-y marks on her skin. And of course, the skimpy clothing.
Gender: Female. Age: Nineteen (19). Race: Human (If human is the only playable race, is this section necessary?) Background: Laura was born in England, nineteen years ago to a lovingly and succesful couple. An enterpreneur and an investor, both quite succesful in their following doings and monetary gains. A second child, but still loved and cared for -- not by her parents, who of course were very busy and had little time to spend with Laura -- but by her older brother and the house's employees, Laura grew in a peaceful and uneventful house. While her parents couldn't exactly give her all the attention in the world, she was always provided with the best: The best education, the best comfort, the best clothes. Everything money could afford, of course, was given to her.
Her brother was a gaming enthusiast, always spending what little time he could afford between his social life and university in front of a console and TV. Since he was Laura's closest friend as well as her brother, she often observed him and learned a thing or two, becoming easily interested in this gaming world he was so addicted to. She eventually got her own console and computer, dwelving deep into the world of gaming and social media. The latter becoming a very powerful point of her life.
Laura became an instagrammer and freelancer photographer. She wasn't particularly keen on this, in all honesty, but it just happened. She never quite expected it - it was all but an actual desire to have a large number of followers. She just took photos of whatever she found interesting; even of herself, and posted them. A few times. Before she realized, it was already done: Laura Grenville, eighteen years, instagrammer. Brands contacted her, offering their products freely just so she could post one or two pictures showing it. Model agencies contacted her, offering money for a job as a posing model.
This never drifted Laura from online gaming, though. It did cut it evenly as she now had a rather busy life, but... Eventually, a new game known as Talrae - a VRMMORPG - was being mentioned everywhere. Laura could easily afford a Wave Gear as well as the game. She barely managed to believe the experience of living inside the fantasy world completely, under total immersion.
If only she knew what awaited her within this game, though... Class: Marauder, though ditching the heavy armor and favouring an all out damage dealer berserk type of approach. Subclass: None.
Spells: None. Actions: Dash (1/Universal) - User dashes forward for a short distance. 30MP. Charge (1/Universal) - User charges shoulder-first, briefly stunning the first target hit. If the user is equipped with a shield, it deals low damage in addition. 50MP. Stomp (1/Marauder) - User stomps the ground, briefly stunning all nearby targets. 50MP. Mocking Shout (1/Marauder) - User shouts an insult at target, decreasing targets damage for a few seconds. 50MP.
I got one too. Going for a quick but hard hitting Vamp(life stealing) characther. Not having much health, but making it up for the vamp.

Blood Blade: A horizontal strike that steals 90% of health from the Damage done to those on the other side of the blade. Flurry: A quick series of four strikes. Doing 75% of the weapons damage, but triples the Weapons attack speed. Rupture: A overhead Strike that smashes straight down to the enemy. Having a chance to stun them.
Alright, here we go. A cs for now. Do tell me if there are any problems! I'll work on the backstory a bit later. I think I got everything right.
"Heh, try not and disappoint me."
Name: Jennifer Takemizu | Leaf Title: None Appearance: 'Leaf' stands at roughly five foot six, with long brown hair tied into a ponytail. She has amber colored eyes, and a tattoo of waves on her right shoulder. A bangle adorns her left ankle and she doesn't seem to like wearing shoes.
Gender: Female Age: 21 Race: Human Background: Currently working on~
Class: Lancer, though definitely isn't going to be plying by the 'slow and heavily' armored tendency. Subclass: None
Skills: Combat Skills: Polearm Mastery: Lv. 10 Mastery over ones chosen weapon, a much needed skill for any Lancer class. Increases ones aptitude with spears, pole arms, and other such weapons.
Acrobatics: Lv. 7 Dictates how well one is able to move mid-air as well as perform impressive feats of dexterity.
Physical Endurance: Lv. 4 Increases ones natural defensive abilities, making going without armor easier.
Light Step: Lv. 4 Decreases noise one makes whilst walking, reducing the chance one would get detected by auditory means. And at higher levels will also reduce ones 'presence'
Misc. Skills: Fishing: Lv. 5
Spells: N/A
Actions: Thunder Step: An Evasive skill designed to quickly allow one to evade an attack by jumping a short distance in any direction away from the target. Swings the Polearm in a wide horizontal arc whilst jumping backwards, deflecting most non-heavy attacks and projectiles, damaging foes caught by the blade. The attacks 'deflected' deal zero damage.
Thunder Strike: A follow up skill from Thunder Step, though it doesn't have to be used exclusively with it. As swift as thunder, the lancer uses superior agility to follow up the Step with a heavy forward thrust as if being struck with the boom of thunder itself, punishing those who close the distance towards the Lancer after dodging. The force is strong enough to extend away from the Glaive a few feet, though will deal negligible damage and mostly stagger a foe.
Palm Thrust: Slams one's palm into the foe. Not an incredibly devastating attack, but it has a very high stun chance against human sized foes.
Do apologize if already stated, but were players able to customize their appearance upon character creation (e.g. changing facial features) and if so, were those forcibly removed and replaced to their irl appearances with the announcement of the no exit?

exit, stage nowhere.
Ah I forgot to write this down, thank you for reminding me. Everyone will have reverted back to their actual appearance (real-life) upon the first day event just like in SAO.
Name: Dubstepp Title: None Gender: Male Age: 22 Race: Human Background: Dubstepp doesnβt rely much on his past life unless questioned. Even then, he shares vague details. The thought of him returning back to real life is a far-fetched idea. Heβs accepted his fate inside the virtual reality. Dubstepp acknowledges that thereβs not going to be some rescue from police enforcement or military patrol. Dubstepp had finally graduated with a Bachelor Artβs degree from a university. His major was Public Relations with a minor in Psychology. He did happen to find a steady job as a secretary for a therapist. At a point during his career, the psychologist did offer Dubstepp to become her own public relations representative. It was a nice boost to his career path. They pay wasnβt bad either. Dubstepp had a steady career and he was helping out his family financially. His life was going well though he did desire more. He expected in a couple of years he could be a public speaker or maybe a therapist as well; however, this meant he would have to go to graduate school to get his doctorate. It wasnβt solely his passion as he did enjoy making music. Though his parents disapproved since none of his songs went pass 100 hits. Dubstepp chose to invest in a virtual reality game for his own recreational activity. He figured he deserved it after his streak of success and good luck.
Name: Ice Scorpion Power: Ice Scorpions have a high defense and can hurl ice-based projectiles at their enemies. Their venom is poisonous but can add a freezing effect as well. They are slow in speed, but they try to make up for it with their giant claws.
Name: Ghouls Power: Ghouls donβt take that much mana given they are extremely disposable. They are not very responsive to pain nor do they have their own thought process. Ghouls are brain-dead and will mainly attack with much bloodlust. Attacks will include only claws and biting.
Name: Aki Power: Possibly one of the strongest summons in Dubsteppβs spells. Aki is an impressive fighter. Being that he is a monkey, the creature is gifted with amazing agility and reflexes. His sword skills can only be described to be admirable. Fortunately, the Monkey King does come with an armor set of his own to ward off opponent's strikes. Despite having a sword, Aki is also well-taught in karate.
Actions:
Hide: Dubstepp takes cover behind certain objects or possibly a wall to hide from his opponents.
Mana Restore: Dubstepp takes a few deep breathes and begins to concentrate in order to replenish his mana.

Can I use my bargaining skill to get a cloth armour? I'm 9 Renn short.
So ladies and gentlemen of this rp, our GM has mentioned that this is a low mercy rp and also suggested we talk to each other about what roles we will be performing. Perhaps we should, besides just posting characters, so we have a clear understaning of where our skill sets will fall and for a better chance of clearing the game!
I'm putting together a mage who will primarily deal in healing magic and follow up in party buff/enemy Debuff magic. We will have at least one healer that way!
Just finished a Paladin, so we have a tank as well.
Name: Theodore Smith | Dirk Davidson Title: None Appearance: Standing at 6' 2" and weighing just under 195 lbs, Dirk is very impressive physically. His character would prefer to wear heavy armor most of the time, but due to high costs, he has resigned himself to cheap cloth until he can afford better gear. Dirk seems to have a presence that demands attention, and he speaks in a voice far too loud and bombastic to be considered normal. His hair is black, his eyes are chestnut colored, and he seems to take a few seconds to think before he speaks. His disposition is usually cocky, but he is more than willing to pick up the slack to help weaker players.
Gender: Man Age: 23 Race: Human Background: Theodore was born to a middle class family in an extremely poor neighborhood, and if the name didn't give it away, he was heavily bullied and harassed for this fact. It didn't matter if he came to school dressed in clothes like the other kids or he did his best to hide - they always found him. He was rarely included into social situations with his peers, and sure as hell didn't have any friends. He didn't blame them though - in the neighborhood he lived in, it would be social suicide, and would tarnish whatever hopes of respect the person who took pity on the bullied kid had. His parents, of course, tried to appeal to the school, but that was a failure. The school didn't have the funds to make sure a single kid wasn't harassed, and they already gave detentions to the bullies. That didn't help though - if anything, they made it worse. The abuse and harassment continued to pile on, until eventually, Dirk managed to find a safe haven - Video games.
Theo, as expected of someone with little social interaction, turned to sources of entertainment that only required a single person. Reading was enjoyable, along with TV shows and writing, but he truly found a safe haven in the world of video games. There, you could be anything - A chivalrous knight, a serious detective, or even a superhero! Most importantly to Theo, you could be someone besides yourself. After discovering video games at the age of 8, Theo was in love - he begged his parents for extra allowance to buy a new console, he started doing more chores around the house so his parents would let him stay up late to play, and he even began to mow the lawns of his neighbors, much to his peers amusement. He would do anything to play games. Over time, he began to adopt a favorite type of character, the kind that just sits with you right. A hero that would protect the weak and punish the wicked, looking good and dispensing pearls of wisdom as he did so. The kind of guy that was super strong, that could take a hit without even flinching before delivering a smooth one-liner. A cool dude that people all around loved and praised. The kind of man that Theo truly wanted to be. Whenever he played a game, he did his best to make a character like this. At the age of 10, he created his personal hero: Dirk Davidson.
The name was childish, and was picked from some cartoon character Theo can't even remember any more. But that didn't matter - Dirk was perfect. He was the kind of guy that was cocky, confident, and took all the attention in the room with a single sentence. Always the center of attention, the hero of the story, surrounded by cool party members and NPCs that seemed to only exist to make Dirk even more perfect by comparison. Dirk was always able to win, even against impossible odds. Sometimes he was a fighter or a knight, but he was always the class that relied on strength the most. Dirk was a paragon of good, constantly protecting his friends and defending the weak - even if they hate his guts. Dirk was trusting, he was charitable, and to Theo... He was a savior. Maybe even a god. This obsession slowly increased over the years, to the point where Theo wrote crappy stories about the adventures Dirk went on and commission art of Dirk.
Obviously, Theo wasn't healthy. He covered his room in pictures and pages of text, all about Dirk, the hero, the god. This greatly troubled his parents, who eventually signed him up for therapy at the age of 14. This was seen as betrayal by Theo - how dare they think Dirk was unhealthy for Theo? Dirk SAVED Theo from the constant pestering, gave him an outlet. Theo eventually managed to convince the therapist he was "better", and took down his art. Dirk didn't need that - he was a kind man. He would understand Theo's reasoning. Years went by quickly, Theo's obsession never grew better, but he did grow better as a person - He began to exercise, study more, he eventually found a job. Hell, when he managed to get fit, a few girls even asked him out. He never agreed though - They were just trying to trick him, make him look like an idiot. Theo eventually graduated high school, top of his class, and was quickly offered a decent scholarship at John Hopkins University, which Theo accepted. He never decided what profession he wanted to enter, but his parents were extremely excited at the thought of their son becoming a doctor. By that point, Theo had forgiven his parents for their betrayal, and studied for the medical field.
This was all a great accomplishment for a white kid from a poor neighborhood, and most of the college students seemed very accepting. In fact, Theo managed to make several friends that he honestly felt a connection with. Of course, this never impeded his love of video games and, by extension, Dirk. It was a week after his 23 birthday - the release of the newest and most advanced game console, fresh with arguably the most anticipated game in the world - Talrae! the game cost a fortune, but his parents knew how much he was anticipating the game. With a college kids budget, there was no chance in hell he would get in on the release day - this was, arguably, the greatest gift in his life. Theo called up Joe's pizza, the small pizza joint he had been ordering from for the past 10 years. He didn't want to accidentally starve while playing. He turned on the console, feeling his eyelids shut and the loss of control of his body as the menu came up. The first thing he did in character creation was enter in the name of his character.
Sword Mastery: Lv.7 The ability to effectively wield swords with one hand. Self-explanatory.
Heavy Armor Mastery: Lv.15 The ability to wear heavy armory more efficiently, providing more defense.
Repairs: Lv. 5 The ability to repair equipment efficiently. Includes both armor and weapons, but does not allow for improving items beyond their original strength.
Shields: Lv. 7 The ability to wield a shield. Most often used for defense, but a high level in this skill may allow the use of shields offensively, and may make larger shields less cumbersome.
Aggravate: User makes target attack the caster for a few seconds. 50MP, 30CD.
Shield Raise: Shield User only. User raises a shield, reducing incoming ranged attack damage for a bit. 50MP, 30CD.
Stunning Punch: User punches out. Medium chance of stunning target briefly. 30MP, 30CD.
After my CS is checked/discussed, I'll be posting a Lance class. Extremely melee oriented, fast and rushing type character. Plus, as a lancer, he'll be good at support and lower-level mob attacks, allowing others to save mana/hp for bosses. Here he is!!
Blur; Reaping - For a short period of time, Hagroden will be able to boost his speed and awareness, allowing him to attack so quickly and accurately that his Scythe becomes blurred in a manner similar to helicopter blades.
Blur; Shielding - Similar to Blur Reaping, this is currently Hagroden's only defensive action. It allows him to use his scythe as a spinning shield for short periods of time by spinning his it quickly enough to deflect most attacks.
Blur; Sprint - Provides a 50% boost to his Agility attribute, but debuffs all other attributes by 12.5% while active, this allows him to move significantly faster, but can make combat more difficult.
-Starting Clothing and Shoes. -One, low-tier Scythe.
