The ghoul woman scoffed slightly at the nonchalant attitude of the tramp girl that was sat besides her. In a sense, her attitude was driving a little too home, what with her past in a ghoul gang and all, and the thirst for recognition. Her stare narrowed ever so slightly, as she kept staring the wreck of the teenager's face. Even if she was a ghoul, something had to be done about that. The bleeding cut was already bringing the otherwise striking smell of ghoul blood.

And the last thing she wanted was the stench of a brawl ruining the appreciation of coffee, she thought as she eyed the bartender, waiting for her prompt. Finally, she had to give up to the fact, that if she did not do anything, it was unlikely anyone would ever care about the smell of blood and the young girl's face. Ghouls were usually a selfish, reserved lot. And so, she fumbled around in her purse, as she produced a single bandaid, and with deft expertise, placed it quickly on the bleeding lip of Kazu.

"I take you have never heard of dressing and etiquette." She sighed. "Beating nobodies is not something to be proud of." Mei added with a hint of poison. "You might not get a boyfriend at this rate, unless it is one of those types who enjoys being beaten." She paused as she eyed the bartender. How long would it take for the woman to notice her request?

"I understand, I'll not pry." Travis said with a smile, he was surprised how many people he'd met just from leaving the house. Perhaps he should do it more often. Not tomorrow tho, he had an early shift, tho he mostly chose the early shift because they weren't as busy everyone was sleeping and stuff. "Well actually I just had myself a coffee at a new coffee shop that just opened up. It was really good actually. So I'm alright on drink at the moment. If you want directions I can give them to you... Oh I almost forgot here's my phone number so we can stay in contact." Travis jotted down his number on a little note and handed it to Kristian. "Friends gotta keep in touch." Travis smiled, this was actually one of the few times he'd handed his number to someone outside of work.

Alice was still in minor shock from the appearance of the bloodied girl when the next newcomer entered, completely blanking for a moment before their bickering broke through.

"Coffee brews and everything I offer are on the board behind me, though I do have a brochure I can give you if you'd prefer," Alice said quietly. "But before that, I'll ask you not harass anyone in my establishment. While the young lady could use some proper lessons on how to not get your face busted, that's her decision to make. Speaking of, clean yourself up." Alice finished her oddly calm talk with a wet cloth being set in front of the young girl. A brochure was quickly set on the counter as well, in case the woman wanted it, and inside would be pretty well every kind of coffee you could imagine.

Turning her back to them, she set to cleaning Travis's cup.

Katsura clapped slightly. "All solid deductions. If you think there's nothing else we can gain here, we can head to the coroner's office and see if they've finished the autopsy."

Kobayashi Taiki

Taiki listened against the wall to the brief, fighting the urge to walk out the moment that he was told that Sora and his mission was to do exactly what they always do. Exactly what all Investigators do when not tied up in an actual case. Taiki made a mental note to always question the Lead Investigators decisions, if not out loud, at least quietly to himself. Or only to Sora. 'Do what we always do, this meeting was a waste of my time when I could have been doing what I always do.' he mused in his head before an Investigator he didn't know handed him a card.

Although he was hesitant to at first, Taiki took the business card and forced a smile to the younger Investigator before shoving it in his pocket and turning to Sora at his comments, "Yeah yeah, don't have to tell me not to waste time," he said as he waved a hand in the air as if swatting away the accusations, "Number One Ghoul Investigator right here. By the books. Always working hard. You know how I am." he said mockingly as he turned to the door. "Now lets go and uh... do what we always do yeah Sora?" he said as he pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and placed one between his fingers so he'd be ready once they got outside.

Mikio

Tea Lounge

The chorus of clinks and clashes as Mikio washed dishes paused as Naosada remarked, "Perhaps I raised questions. I must look pretty suspicious." He looked over his shoulder at him, silent for a moment, before turning back to the sink and replying, "I don't think so." His voice tried to convey a friendly sense of reassurance, though unsure is Naosada really needed any comfort. He appeared unbothered, even during the bombardment of queries from the Dove.

"You run this place all alone?" Mikio paused his idle, routined washing-and-drying and turned. "I do--in a sense, though, I don't. This shop is owned by Shika, really. She's older and..not well. I try to keep her focused on resting, so right now it's really just me," he said, his voice an unusually monotonous tone.

"Well, you're always welcome here," Mikio continued, his voice returning to its typical honeyed timbre, "I'm not too worried about you, if that means anything." He turned back and neatly set the dried dishes and silverware in their respective spots.

"Good!" Sora said with a naive grin. "Now let's go and do--"

"The usual, please," Sora said with a grin. The two sat at their usual ramen shop, waiting for their orders to come in. The young man seemed estatic about the concept of food, swinging his feet forward and back like a child. He came to a sudden stop when he realized something. "Hey... " He turned to Taiki, giving him a rather suspect look. "We're supposed to be looking into activity! Did you bring any case files at all!?" The young Rank 1 quickly shook his head before Taiki could have a chance to answer. "Well, that's fine! Because I did! Now we can look at them while we eat, isn't that a good idea?"

Kazu frowned. She didn’t exactly appreciate the stranger fussing over her. She did, however, mutter a soft, “Thanks,” when the woman put a band-aid over her cut.

She huffed, “I only beat people who deserve it. And who says I even want a boyfriend? Boys are overrated.”

Kazu accepted the rag the barista gave her and cleaned off the blood that had dripped down her chin while she wasn’t paying attention. She turned back to her book, trying to soothe the frustrated tension in her shoulders.

She took a big sip of coffee, hoping to drive off the fatigue that was starting to creep into her limbs. The excitement from earlier was wearing off and reminding her how long it had been since she last slept. She would go back to Anri’s apartment and take a nap on her couch, but her sleep schedule was screwed up enough as it was.

Naosada finished his coffee and placed the mug down gently. He had never known that mortals could give off such a pale serenity. The host seemed to be holding himself together at the seams. "You have my utmost condolences. I pray that she gets better one day."

"I get the feeling she couldn't have left her shop in better hands. Keep up the good work."

Naosada raised from his seat and started toward the door. He had another place to visit now, one that housed even more dangerous beings than Doves. One that served coffee with the purpose of imitation, one that held the reigns on the peaceful ghouls of Ward Eight.

"And I would have appreciated some coffee fast, I care not about fancy dressings. But the world is so full of disappointments." Mei answered without missing a heartbeat to the bartender, her eyes lazily sizing her up and down. Kinda young. She probably was one of those types that thought she could make a difference. Well, certainly not that way, antagonizing prospective fancy clients in their first meeting. Her eyes darted towards the other ghoul, who thankfully, was now making a better show by cleaning the bloody mess she hard herself caused to appear, with her face bruised.

"Now that is just cute. A champion of justice and girl power. I would join you, but I am far past the age of child games. Someday, everyone has to grow up..." She finished as she raised herself from table, proceeding to let a sigh, shaking her head. "Fool's gold, alas." She added, as she raised from her seat and began walking towards the exit. She wanted coffee, not holier-than-thou baristas, and she would not even spend an ounce of effort in tolerating those kinds. Plus the extra walk could help.

Without saying a word, she exited through the door. Now, was there another coffee shop nearby?

Bisuto Ketsu

@Old Amsterdam

As always, Ketsu felt the slightest twinge of anticipation as he passed through the Rc Gates - but, as always, he found himself free to move through them without hassle. For a moment, he let himself reminisce: whatever his old man had done to let him pass for human in their artificial eyes, he was beyond grateful, one of the rare times he felt such an emotional connection.

But back to the topic at hand. He nodded a few times as Seto made his speech, describing the options before them: a Chimera with multiple kagune; a ghoul who had acquired a quinque; or perhaps a being who wasn't a ghoul at all. A human, in other words. Ugh. And he'd had such high hopes; if they were some human murderer, it was barely worth considering them as food. Unless... perhaps a human woman had gotten pregnant from a ghoul, and resorted to cannibalism the way his own mother had? That might be a juicy proposition after all. Unlikely, but possible.

'I will say,' Ketsu mentioned, 'it's probably safe to assume the killer is a ghoul of some sort. Even if they were human, it'd take a lot of effort to deal as much damage to the bodies as you've described, and it's not necessarily as if they couldn't have additional motivations beyond feeding themselves.' He took a brief moment to collect his thoughts, and to examine the changing scenery. They'd just begun walking through a local park, a pretty nice-looking place at this time of year. The trees were in full bloom by now, their leaves a deep green colour, and the park's flowers had sprung up long before, planted and maintained by the local groundskeepers to provide a rather enticing rainbow of beauty. Even if he considered himself quite practical, Ketsu could at least appreciate the effort that went into works like these.

'You proposed they were a potential Binge Eater earlier, right?' he eventually continued, stroking his chin as he voiced his thoughts. 'Or at least a proto-Binge Eater. But, perhaps it's not just themselves they're feeding? They could be bringing flesh back to their child... or, for instance, to some third party. I couldn't say why they'd be doing that, in the latter case, but unless they're simply mutilating their victims for a sick thrill, I imagine there might be some extra motive to these attacks - and we've established that they're too intelligent to just be a raving lunatic, at that.' Ooh, perhaps the father is doing the killings, he considered silently, adding another layer to his "half-ghoul child" theory. But at that point, it may well also be a regular ghoul...

'Either way, I can only assume Mrs- Ms, Miss? Uh, I assume Graye will be more than willing to add her prodigious experience to our own,' Ketsu concluded with a smile. 'I trust she won't be too hostile, after all, else how would she have gotten to her current level? Aha... ahh, I'm kidding, sir. I suppose you were referring to her battle wounds? In which case, I'll steel myself for her scars; they can't be that much worse than yours, right?'

Seto chuckled lightly, running a hand through his hair. "You remind me of Mokuba sometimes. Fairly literal, and so very sharp. It makes playing cards against him both incredibly enjoyable and rather difficult."

Talking a seat on a bench and crossing his legs, Seto replied to the thoughts slowly. "Miss. But call her Graye. She's not as noticeably scarred as I am, it's more that she can be a handful. A Binge-Eater normally devours the majority of the entire body, so it's possible we're getting to see one develope into such. Your theory on a possible dependant second individual has merit, though."

He looked up from his thinking as a shadow fell across the two. "Ah, Graye. Sit, let us discuss a course of action."

"I still don't see why you drug me along on your fantasy detective adventure, Seto. You know what I am," a cold voice for such a beautiful woman.

"The greatest killing machine of the CCG, one might say. You've got instinct. You could very possibly find what we're after."

"Very well," she relented with a sigh. "Who are you? I've never seen you before," she asked with a raised eyebrow at Ketsu.

Travis was an odd one to read. He wasn’t sure if he denied his offer because he was cautious of him or not. Handing him his phone number was not the act of someone cautious of another, and yet at the same time he wasn’t sure what to think.

Travis seemed too friendly. Too open. How could he be so unguarded in a world that was as bleak as this? Or at least the future at times seemed so bleak. Still Kristian stared at the number and stared at Travis with a little fidget of his fingers.

“Well,” Kristian looked embarrassed by this honest confession, “I don’t have a phone.” Kristian smiled. “But I’ll give you my number when I do get one.”

He looks away. White hair falling into his eyes for a second as he brushes it away.

“Truth was….I was scared to go alone,” Kristian tells Travis, “But it is weird….isn’t it. To ask a total stranger to be friends with them and immediately ask them to go somewhere. How about next Friday? We can plan for next Friday. That seems more natural.”

Kristian turns back to Travis with a gentle smile.

Travis smiled at Kristian kinda surprised that he didn't have a phone, "I guess I'll have to wait for your phone number then." He then tilted his head at Kristian talking about being weird asking someone to be friends and then asking them to go somewhere with you. Then he shrugged "I guess it is kinda strange, but hey nobody is normal so what's the problem with being a little weird?" Travis stood up and looked around for a moment then back at Kristian. "I'll see you around I guess Kristian, it was nice meeting you. Be sure to ring that number if you need to talk" with that Travis waved to the kid and started to walk away. He'd been struck by a sudden urge to get home and eh couldn't quite tell why.

I smell them. The blood. The flesh. Rip. Tear.
No. I must take it back. My orders.

But the flesh. The blood. I need it. I crave it. Food, good.
No. Orders.

I fall from a high place of concrete and steel, words I have been taught. Images flash through my mind. Odd black snakes snap around me, crackling and jolting. Like the rod...

I roar in anger. The pain does not last. The anger does. Wood stick, big, holds the snakes at bay, my tail pushing it down. The snakes fall.

There are screams. Prey. I begin to chase....
No. Difficult no. I can smell the fear. I lick my lips and release my wings.

But wait... That smell. It's him. The old one. And...a new one.

I take off, running across black rock and yellow rock and white rock into grass. Cool against my feet.

Ahead, him and the other. I grin. I can eat the other. Him must survive. But can break. I lash out with my wings, sharp scales flying from them. Most miss. Few hit wood brown object.

I growl, angry. My eyes narrow as I extend my tail, preparing for the next assault.

Alice frowned at the woman leaving. Had she been too aloof? She hadn't meant to offend the lady, but now it was too late to make amends, with the woman out the door already.

She sighed. Next time she'd approach the woman differently. She'd run into her eventually.

She looked back at the young girl thoughtfully. "Yknow, I could teach you how to properly fight. Like, more than just getting into a brawl. Though I'd really prefer to get you away from all that violence, but that's not something I'll push," Alice said quietly. "But feel free to come back in and talk and relax, so long as you aren't dripping blood all over the place. That's bad for business, eh?"

@AngelofOctober

Travis' head turned as he felt something coming the smell of another ghoul. He saw a monstrous looking ghoul with both wings and a tail, and it had already fired shards at him. He ran towards kristian raising his arm as his Kagune started to form, he got himself between Kristian and this thing. what the hell is a chimera doing here!? And why the hell is he attacking us!? Got no time to find out, gotta get this kid outta here. Many shards hit his still forming Kagune, its massive bulk shrugging off the shards. He then pulled out his mask and placed it on his face, it had been a while since it's cool surface had rubbed against his flesh, it almost felt alien.

After his Kagune fully formed he lowered it's long blade like a shield in front of himself and Kristian. He didn't take his eyes of the chimera as he spoke back to kristian "Kid you gotta get out of here, this guy has obliviously lost it. I'd not try and fight this guy head on, I'll just distract him for a moment so you can escape alright? Then I'll be right behind you and the CCG will deal with the psycho." He didn't like his plan mostly because it involved relying on the CCG, but it was the best thing he could come up with at the moment.

Ketsu nodded as Seto made his observations about his thought process. He hadn't known anything about a Mokuba, presumably Seto's brother, and given how they were compared could only assume it was rather high praise from the leader of Ward 8. Still, he wasn't given much time to formulate a response before Graye at last made her appearance. She... certainly wasn't as scarred as he'd expected. But, if she was as hypercompetent as he claimed, then perhaps there was a reason for that.

'I'd be very surprised if you did know who I was, Graye,' Ketsu acquiesced. 'I'm only a Rank 2 Investigator, after all, recently graduated - fourth in my year, if it matters. Bisuto Ketsu, at your service and Seto's,' he introduced himself with a bit of a flourish and a hand held out to shake if she so desired, 'and dare I say, I've heard good things about you and your skills? With any luck, I hope to some day become as distinguished as you have.' He knew he was brown-nosing, but it was mostly out of habit. Naturally, once they got into the meat of the investigation, he'd be sure to cut it out. He'd be sure Seto would relay his earlier suggestions, too.

Katashi had been patiently sipping his warm brew of coffee the entire time, watching the young man leave, more people come in. Of particular interest was the young girl that was now sitting before himself and Alice. The scuffs, marks and bruising was the clearest indicator that she was a troublemaker. However, Katashi couldn't deny feeling a sense of untapped potential radiating from the young girl. If she could be steered in the right way, then this ghoul could have some serious power for good when she was bigger. It was then that Alice had mentioned tutoring the girl in how to fight properly. The Red Tiger couldn't have imagined a better teacher than the One-Eyed Wolf herself. Whenever Katashi walked down the backways of Ward 8, he'd always hear hushed whispers of the Wolf that prowls the midnight hour. Part of him felt slightly jealous at her infamy in a funny way.

"That sounds like a great idea, Alice! Trust me, this is not an opportunity you'd want to pass up!" He said to the young girl with a smile, trying to help persuade the little street fighter.

Seto's mouth quirked slightly as Ketsu finished talking. Graye, meanwhile, laughed. "Kid, acting like that won't get you anywhere near me. I've killed more of these flesh eaters than anyone else in the CCG on record. They give me a new Quinque every so often to adapt to my methods. This one? It's probably my fifth one."

With a mild chuckle Seto spoke up. "Moving on... We're maybe five minutes out from the site, so..."

And he started walking, leaving the others behind if they didn't start walking themselves. Graye shook her head in amusement and gave Ketsu a slight nudge. "So, what's a runt like you done to get teamed up with him?"

With that said him and Travis could have parted ways. That could have been the end of the conversation and perhaps maybe he would call Travis. He noticed it before it happened, the sudden shift of wind, the ominous chilly breeze that began to pick up. Kristian smirked, though Travis didn’t notice. He was too distracted by a Chimera showing up.

Some ugly son of a bitch with wings and a tail. His creation looked like a bloated existence of discarded parts. He felt his heart race. A part of killer’s rage rising. He didn’t feel any resentment for the creature, nor any remorse. Just excited, itching with anticipation.

He wanted to see Travis next move. It shouldn’t have surprised him then that he was trying to get them to turn tail and run like a pussy. The Doves would not appreciate their efforts and neither would the Humans, but it was the best excuse he had.

“We can’t run,” Kristian told Travis, “While we wait for the Doves to show up. People could get hurt. It doesn’t matter if we don’t get praise. What matters is we stop the damage done at all cost.”

Oh he was really excited right now. He could feel an itching, a crawling sensation in his blood. He said it before he liked the ones that were upfront about what they were. And certainly this chimera was upfront about its intentions. It didn’t make him scared the way Travis nice demeanor made him scared. It made him desire to kill it.

A rose bloomed behind his back. Even if Travis didn't intend to kill, he did.

[I]
Arm blood blade. Sharp strong not metal. Wing won't break. Big arm not important. Can kill.

I narrow my eyes. Target here. Big Rose. Injure. Harm. Wound. Kill.
No. Kill blade arm. Wound Rose.

Push winds down. Up. Down. Up. Begin lift. Rise one head. Two head. Razors from wings.

Tilt. Dive. Crash in front of Rose, dirt flying. Tail whips forward, sharpening like blade arm. Strong. Crush. Power. Break Rose. Kill blade arm.

Streak forward, open mouth wide. Eat blade arm. Tail finishing attack on Rose. Wings protect.

Eat. Kill. Defeat Rose. Eat Rose.
No. Crush. Take. Father proud.

Narration

The unknown attacker seemed to grow increasingly agitated as Travis and Kristian formed their Kagune, his eyes narrowing and locking into Kristian and his Rose forming.

His wings flap once, twice, three times and he launches into the air, perhaps 30 feet up. As his jump brings him closer, he releases another flurry of crystalized shards towards the two Ghouls, covering the entire area in the attack. He lands with a twist and a rumble, hard enough to break through the ground. To his left was Kristian, sightly behind, and the tail shot out towards the young man. Large, thick, and growing larger and longer as it flew.

The next instant he lunged towards Travis, his teeth gnashing in anticipation while his wings folded around his sides to offer protection. Travis has been to the right sightly, and originally closer from the jumping point. Now the beast was behind him, running low. The distance wasn't far between Travis and Kristian, and he instinctually knew his tail could connect while he attacked the bystander Travis.
