Kano Hargor

@Stern Algorithm

Waters around the two huddled figures swirled contently about them in a perfectly smooth inner dome, the ceiling was slowly being swallowed as it flowed to the will of an ancient power.
This figure swelled with pride despite the students honest failings, because every student stood where Shi'Zhen now did as the struggle for understanding began. The subtleties of her power were many and few could truly be taught to another.

Like breathing, you just.. knew. To call water into action as you saw fit was a matter of practice in understanding yourself and the invisible 'hand' of your will.

"You have yet to fail. In time you will learn to hear the simple words the water can speak, and feel it shape to your imagination."

Palm open and to the ceiling of the dome, Kano willed the water to thin until it was almost translucent. Like a window you could see the vague outline of the outside world through the distortion of the watery surface.
The lights above shined through the ripples, illuminating the soft puddle at their feet. For a moment it almost seemed lile the water was.. smiling.

Like static it sent shivers where skin met the hotsprings' flowing essence, playfully almost.

It was Kanos hope that exposure to natural beauty and the power of the springs would spark a deeper comnection between the student and her second soul. That aetherial part of an elementalist that allowed such control to be.

"I will guide you as much as possible," he whispered aloud as the dome flowed back to the waters and exposing the two back to warm light of the room. "But if you wish to meditate alone.. I suggest getting a bathing suit or using the ladies only hotsprings. You will be spending quite a bit of time in open waters."

The flowing stream gathered under his feet and lifted the Headmaster up and out of the smooth stone floor at the bottom of the hotspring, the bubble or free air surrounding ShiZhen was undisturbed so as to continue her study and meditation at her leisure. As for Kano it was high time he checked in on more personal matters.

Already he could feel it festering.. Not enough to be problematic quite yet but always better to be rid of this particular problem early.

"The water will return to normal in a few hours so feel free to stay. Myself, I must depart to other business but wish you the best of luck in your budding skills as an Elementalist."

Of course Kano would not refuse to continue helping the young lady if such was requested. There would be many days ahead and the Headmaster was more than happy to set aside time in the morning to help where he could, as he often did even amongst the more developed students in the fifth year of training.

@Old Amsterdam

The room was spinning all around him as he lay on the ground. Consciousness was a fleeting thing at the moment and stubborn willpower was likely the only reason why true darkness had not claimed the boy yet. The irony of not getting enough sleep before doing this stupid fight was not lost to him.

Colors danced across his eyelids as a feeling of complete fatigue weighed down his chest, making even the act of breathing difficult. It wasn't like a true weight that came from broken bones or even the sensation of pain, of which Felix knew there would be a great deal of, but more like an absence of something.. important.

What had previously been a roaring inferno of unchecked emotion and aggressions had become nothing more than a flickering candle on a cold night..

Cold. Wind buffeting his skin, the smell of the forest as he walked..

Dia?

A voice called out his name waking him from darkness, eyes widening with a fresh wave of panic. Half awake he could feel the fear in her voice, bringing him back to the here and now. To the soft sensation of her lips gracing his own. It had the same effect as before, drowning out everything but her. Nothing existed in that moment of fear and relief..
Heedless of the burns and scraped from his own stupidity, Felix tried to rise and felt the pain he had ignored bloom in all its terrible glory as he groaned softly, realizing just how bad it really was.

The floor had weathered the storm well enough, save for a blackened ring a dozen feet away. Felix had fared no better, angry red skin where the flames had burned him raced from his fingertips up to his shoulder, his fairly dirty clothing was even worse than before as it caught its own share of trouble. Black holes of scorched fabric revealed buts and pieces of the flesh below.

Small blessings, his shoes were seemingly unharmed. The bottoms of his pants weren't any better than the shirt though..

Rather than struggle against his own body as he'd always done, Felix just laid back and closed his eyes again. Focusing on the freezing cold air, tasting true cold for the first time since his element had manifested. It was magnificant.

"Sorry.. Dia.." He croaked weakly. "Didn't mean to.. worry you." A rare but light chuckle followed his words. He had been a right jerk and flew off the rails again. Cost him big this time though and knew there wasn't an escape for whats coming.

"You were right.." he mumbled again, opening his eyes to see her beautiful face. "I should have seen the nurse." His grin stretched across his face, ready to accept her wrath.

Dia was still in shock upon hearing the words. The chuckle.

Relief.
She sighed, shaking her head. "You reckless dummy," she muttered slowly. "I should slap you... But you seem to have covered that yourself..."

She chewed her lip, unconsciously running her hands through his hair, trying to decide what to do. As it was, given her emotional state, she couldn't lessen the cold emanating from her.

But that fury was rising.

"What happened? Who... Let this happen?" she asked in a dangerous whisper.

Rosalin Tombs

Rosalin burst into the gymnasium, out of breath and red in the face. Manilow had informed her off the situation, before leaping out of her office's window. By no means an irregular exit by the gym teacher, thus the nurse had focused on gathering up the supplies she guessed she would need and rushing down to the dorm building.

She found the boy exactly where Manilow had said he would be, and she knelt down next to him, fighting back a chill. This girl was attached to him, and not in control of her abilities. It would be best not to antagonize her. At the moment, the girl was asking him something. Rosalin brought a finger to the boy's lips and hushed as she laid out her medical kit. He had many, many small injuries, especially around his hands. Performing triage required slightly more assessment of his condition. at a glance none of the boy's bones were broken. Rosalin placed her hands on the boy's torso, and gently pressed down along the areas where the boy's ribcage would be.

"If you could just try and breathe, deep breaths, in and out for me, thank you." It didn't seem as though anything was fractured. Though he was covered in bruises, scrapes, and many, many burns, the boy had somehow evaded a long-term injury. Hadn't he?

Jordan Manilow

After letting the nurse know about the problem with Felix, Jordan made his way out onto the grounds. He felt disappointed in the way things had ended. The boy it seemed, had learned nothing at all, at the expense of sustaining many injuries. There was so much potential he had yet to truly tap. But then, Jordan tried to recall back when he'd been green. It had been a different era, and it seemed a lifetime ago. He ran his hands over his chest as he walked, unintentionally marking each and every scar, and trying to remember how he'd earned them. There was a surprisingly large amount he'd forgotten the source of, which he realized gave a somber indication of the kind of life he led. What of his mental scars? Were they similarly mysterious and inaccessible to him? And what about his injury?

Jordan crossed the track and field, all quiet, despite the sun being high in the sky. A good day for a tournament, good weather, good air. Nobody, save for him, present to appreciate it. Of course it was likely that Kano could hold a tournament in the middle of a monsoon and the weather would be even better. That got him thinking about Kano, specifically about how that man, if Kano could even still be called such, how he treated Felix's situation. His outbursts, and his anger, those passionate outbursts. He met that fire with such coldness. Such measured, calculated poise. It unnerved Jordan. His instincts were to pry that emotion out from where it lurked, and treat it. Balm it with a salve of self-reflection. But Kano, had in his own sort of way, just watched the wound... fester.

Jordan shook himself. He couldn't know the headmaster's thoughts and he'd not even bothered to directly ask what Kano thought ought to be done about Felix. He shouldn't assume things that didn't, well that didn't-

Jordan opened the door to his shed, and quietened his thoughts. There would be time enough for those concerns later. Right now, he had to tend to his affairs.

Jideh Basrah

Jideh had been laying in the greenhouse for some time, stuffing his face with some chips he'd swiped from the cafeteria, along with some salads he'd bought. As he munched, he catalogued plants, and memorized them in his mind. When he grew bored of that, he invested a Lapcatcher with enough energy for it to grow into a hammock of sorts. He hopped up into the soft and bouncy leaf, and started at a book he'd picked up from the library. The title was called A Beginner's Guide to Elemental Ability; The Path to The Second Soul, and although much of the material seemed to be quite dense, Jideh felt he was starting to understand, if only just a little, how he could do what he could do.

He also started getting a whole lot of ideas about things to experiment with, and that thought thrilled him more than anything else. As he flipped from page to page, the connection between his specialization of Flora and its mother element of Earth became clearer. He thought back to the abilities he'd seen that insane gym teacher display yesterday, and he wondered if he could make that power work for him, if in a totally different way. His first and principle idea was a simple one; Jideh decided that he should try to find a way to make his powers more efficient. If what this book was talking about were true, he might have a hunch, an idea on how to do that.

"I want to take a photo of you. You on the fountain with your violin and smiling when the sun shining on you."

Nothing had ever stopped Lyra's mind from spinning before, from jumping from one thing to the other and breaking them down. But Zeke's answer threw it for a loop. For a second, Lyra didn't know what to say or think or feel or whatever, and she couldn't get herself to figure out why, nor could she think of anything else. Her violin was playing something awfully pleasant, an it felt somehow like it was saying the most important thing even though she couldn't say what.

She took refuge in her ice cream. Mint: strange taste, nice, but she couldn't really think about it at the moment.

"Um... I have something called prosopagnosia. So I don't know what you look like..."

And then he made a colour in the air again, the magician. The same blue she'd seen him make the first time they talked. "Your blue eyes," he said, and she had thought it would made her think about what her eyes look like, but it didn't. She was just thinking about Zeke and the shyness he had in his voice, the kindness and admiration. Itself like a whole kind of music.

"So I want to photo you playing on the fountain side when we're finished with the ice cream, if that's okay."

"Sure, I don't mind," Lyra said, and it surprised even her how easily she had said it. She had no idea what to think about anything now, but she somehow knew it wasn't something she should worry about. Her violin was playing a small, cheerful song after all. "It'll be to bad if you forget what I look like," she added, "I'd want you to remember me."

Amelia Lycrosse

Location: The Main Office
Interacting with: The Secretary

There were a lot of things that Amelia Lycrosse liked. Among the things she hated was being late. Which was what she was right now. Late. Extremely late. She ran a hand through her hair and scowled at the door in front of her. She opened the door to the main office and plopped into a chair across from the secretary's desk. "Amelia Lycrosse. Age fourteen. Element is Aetherial," Amelia said coldly, sighing as she did so. "I need my schedule. Also my room number. Also my textbooks. Also my roommate. Also to be enrolled." She ticked the stuff off on her fingers, realising as she did so that there were a lot of things she didn't know, which unnerved her, because quite frankly, Amelia did not like unknown variables. They kinda freaked her out. Her phone buzzed.
You good, sis, read the text from her brother.
As good as can be expected. I miss you, she typed.
Kay. Miss you too. Tell me how the food is.
Amelia laughed at that last line.
Lol. Love you.
Love you too.
She put the phone back in her pocket, seeing how the secretary looked overly put out. "Sorry," she muttered. The secretary handed her a schedule, a room key, and a map. Amelia walked out of the main office to her room to unpack and get settled in.

Three months have come and gone in seemingly the blink of an eye as days stretched on into the fall. Cold winds were not uncommon so high atop the mountain where the academy makes its home but true cold has yet to come in full. Snow would fall heavily during the winter season but older students assured others that in the academy grounds it would be almost non-existant thanks to the weather influencing effects of gathered elementalists working to keep the various fields and forests in pristine condition year round.

Further down the mountain at the Jungles there was barely any cold at hall, the warmth of life thriving even when harsh winter should have fallen hard.

Over the months students were taught about themselves, their powers and the origin behind the change.

Those blessed with the ability to influence an element was thanks to an ancient pact between humans and what can only be described as the aspects. Beings of complete influence over an element.
Spirits of immeasurable control that some have called 'titans' in the past. Through them people were born touched by the spirits of nature and bonded, creating what is referred to as a second soul. Over time Humans influence over nature spread from five core aspects to the sub-elements known today such as Lightning, blood, and even darkness. While it remains unknown how humans gained access to these sub-elements, considering no formal pacts with any other 'titans' have been made since the initial five, there are considerable large bodies of theory which attempt to explain why.

The Academy was founded atop the Sacred mountain said to be where the Aspects first granted their blessing yet few can say if it is true. The city Elders say that Kano would know for sure but has never given an answer.

The grounds themselves about the schoolyard have been molded over countless years to become an ideal place of harmony and learning, teaching everything a young student could ask for.

Even things you wouldn't normally ask to be taught about.. Eccentric teachers made for interesting courses.

As the months began to progress at the school, each student was told to choose an academic specialty, as was mandated by Kano. After all, many students would return to a normal civilian life once mastering their control of their abilities, and a very select few would be considered to powerful or too valuable to allow to leave the Academy.

The domains of study were; The Sciences, The Humanities, The Arts, and The Technological Studies. These were further subdivided into Theoretical and Practical areas, yielding a total of eight options for a student to choose from.

Through dedication and practice the prowess of new students has climbed steadily, enough that a fledgeling control has sprouted. Moving mountains is still far out of your control but problems like spontaneous expulsions of heat have dropped significantly amongst the junior students.

You will also find that while you have all chosen domains of study, there are certain essential courses which are universally mandated by Kano. These are as follows; English, Philosophy, and Physical Education. These three classes are typically composed of an entire year's worth of students, if subdivided to manage in reasonable numbers.

Kano Hargor

Jordan Manilow

Down in the subterannean 'lair' as it had begun to be called resided the Headmaster. Standing tall and clad in robes of pristine blue, he was an impressive figure regarded as something of a legend. Face obscured by writhing shadows as he walked, the glow of his eyes were the only indication he even posessed a face.

pacing back and forth in the dimly lit room he clenched and unclenched the icy black fist below his pristine sleeve. From the tip of his fingers up to his shoulder the normally pure form had turned to jagged angry black, fingers turning to sharp claws..
The corruption was rarely this bad and yet, looking at his malshapen hand, Kano was positive something was trying to escalate his condition.

Normally an Aspect could not be tainted. Theirs was a communion with the primal that transcended anything elementalists today experienced in their connection with the elements.

The writhing shadows about his body was a constant reminder of the price paid what seemed an eternity ago for peace.. Unfortunately for Kano this kind of problem could not be overcome by himself. Purging the blight from his body required another, to not only seperate the 'flesh' from his form but destroy it for good.
That was a risk of corrupting someone else as well.

A knock at his doors broke the gloomy thoughts as a whisk of his hand had the door unlocked.

"Enter. But be quick about it."

Jordan poked his head into Kano's "office," and chuckled.

"You don't think that this aesthetic is maybe a little bit bleak for a working space? From what I've heard, regular cubicles are soul-sucking enough! I'll admit, the candles are a nice touch, and I think the floor's giving me a headache, but..." Jordan's eyes roamed from the candles that dotted the corners of the room, and then back to the undulating currents just beneath the gritty ice that made up the floor and shook his head.

He turned and closed the door gently, before stretching, cracking his neck and shoulders. He had just come from his evening workout and the Bastard-in-Chief had summoned him for some unknown purpose. Jordan had long since learned that ignoring a summons just meant being dragged to it through some immeasurably colder and wetter means. So he's come promptly, taking just enough time to sand-bathe.

"But that's not what you called me here for. What do you need?"

A deep sigh escaped him as Kanos free hand reached out to pull up his sleeve, revealing the grotesque new form of his once pure arm. The blackened ice was growing thicker by the moment until it cracked and fell to the floor below, turning to black water moments after it had been seperated from the main body. It would only take a few moments for the water to take on a purer color as it was freed from the source of its initial corruption.

"Some would call it surgery I suppose, if blood and flesh still served as my form. But I believe we settled on calling it an amputation."

The black ice was jagged and curved unnaturally, fingers ending hooks that could tear flesh from bone if its subzero temperature didn't cause enough pain as is. For Kano to bear witness to such a horrible blight upon his own body week after week was an insult. It had begun to manifest decades after the Aspect had absorbed the defilers second soul, at great cost to the others.
Aspects were eternal beings blessed with the purity of form. Primal spirits of tremendous power had given them the right to speak on their behalf in return for peace. One such individual had waged civil war on his bretheren that left a scar still felt on Elementalists to this day.

Darkness. Hated unlike any other. Those who had used their power of the shadows had cast doubt and fear into the heart and soul of every elementalist to grace this once green earth.
Their kind, after losing their leader and aspect, had been cast down as enemies for years uncounted. It was only in the last century or so that things had changed. Wisdom granted they be given a chance to rise from nothing and stand as equals..

The black hand clenched tight as it shattered a thin layer of its icy skin atop the ground again. While Kano was tolerant beyond measure it was not easy for him to forgive. If their Aspect resurfaced, reclaimed their power, and began again the civil war of the past it would break the unity of each element irreparably.

"Do what you must and cleanse this from me."

As you have a thousand times before.. He thought grimly.

When Kano revealed his arm he whistled faintly. He thought the last manifestation had been severe, but it was nothing compared to this. Jordan got out his chair and walked around to Kano's side, instinctively hardening every inch of his skin. Then, before he got in range of the corrupted ice and its melting water, he started taking his clothes off.

"Isn't there some kind of outlet you could use? Just work with the darkness, and let it tire itself out? I can't imagine further training with the element could be harmful, at least."

Kano merely shrugged in response.

He worked his shirt and pants off and threw them back onto the chair. Jordan's gaze ran over all of the gleaming points and the sort of dirty smudging, a kind of oily underglaize that permeated the corrupted arm. He sighed, and stepped closer. Dark drops that hit his skin as he stepped up behind Kano's right shoulder and peeled his robe back burned with cold. As far as Jordan could tell, the primary effect of the corruption was to transform Kano's essence of water into the harshest, coldest, most unpleasant kind of water that Jordan could think of. When it melted, it reeked with a powerful stench. Even frozen, the ice emanated a bone-chilling sensation that cut through even Jordan's toughened skin.

He didn't need to ask how deep. When it came to severing corruption, the answer would always be the same; to the bone.

Kano's body was roughly shaped the way a really tall human would be, and as Jordan moved robes out of the way, he could actually see the border of the corruption as it hung evilly next to the admittedly disturbed untainted waters of Kano's body. Jordan steeled himself for what he was about to do. Not because it was particularly difficult, the severance was always morbidly easy. It was rather because while Kano had a stunning amount of self-mastery, based on his limited reactions, the "amputation" as he put it, was utterly agonizingly painful to a sanity-straining degree.

Jordan gathered earth. While it was much more difficult to do here than in his own office, where the air positively stank of the earth and he was pretty sure normal people would succumb to black lung, he managed it just fine. The process he was performing didn't require lots of earth anyway. He just needed enough to create a diamond edge along the length of his hand and forearm. The first time Kano had come to him, Jordan had been overenthusiastic about the method of amputation. That first time... Jordan had never been fond of doing this duty since then. But he'd found a fool-proof method of doing it since his first ill-considered attempt. It was actually far easier and much quicker to do now than it had been when he first devised the technique, and if it weren't for its morbid purpose, he'd be quite proud of what could potentially be a formidable combat technique. He focused his mind, took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly. The blade was ready. The flesh waiting to be cleansed. He lined up his arm with Kano's shoulder and added a fine coating of dust to the pure portion of Kano's body to make sure his cut was clean.

He raised his arm once, twice, thrice, and...

To the bone.

The Headmaster required no breathe but still felt himself holding onto it. The act of being motionless and entirely focused on the next critical moment as he waited for Manilow to strike, sever the limb, and the very essence of Kanos form. Having become his very element as the years progressed the concept of pain became a more distant and unpleasant memory. If not for these necessary sessions he might not have ever felt it again.

Anything they can embrace, so can I. This too shall-!

Pass it did. The diamond-like blade that was Manilows hand cut through the essence of his body, as the surge of powerful emotions bubbled to its surface. As it always did, fear took its place at the front of his mind as the limb fell uselessly to the ground thrashing at nothing as the corrupted icy 'flesh' of his own body sought to strike down what pained it so even as the appendage began to shatter.

Kanos free hand struck Jordan hard in the chest, force enough to shatter bone launching him across the room in a fit of rage and pain. A strike of mercy that had Manilow thrown bodily to the doors and out of the thrashing path of the Headmaster.
The pain was lightning across his very being as his body contorted, losing its human shape as the spirit controlling its form went into a spasm.
In his lack of control his powers ran rampant across the room.

Head thrown back, he howled. An inhuman sound, high pitched scream in a gurgling watery voice. Temperatures dropped and the serene waters flowing about the underside of his office tore through the walkway with impunity, a swipe of his remaining hand turned the great oaken desk into shards where it passed as Kano unleashed his pain to the world around him.
The black shadows that surrounded his face had vanished, replacing the severed apendage like a black tentacle as it too thrashed madly. With a final shuddering shriek his will rippled out of his form, spikes of ice and shadow slashing through his robes as the water responded. Freezing into blades of fury that gouged the rooms smooth stone walls into a crumbling ruin until the pain had passed.
The visage usually obscured by the veil of darkness showed a glistening white slate of ice, lacking any features save an open 'screaming' mouth locked into a snarl. Rows of 'fangs' lines the mouth as it shaped to his subconscious expression.

Shaking and dazed the moment passed in mere seconds. The torrent of his emotions had decimated the one pristine sanctuary he called an office, the walkway nothing more than rubble clogging what should have been a natural river leading below it, now turned to a frozen hellscape. The walls had gouges going a dozen feet in as it carved out the stone like it had been clay.

In the center of it all was Kano. Corrupt Aspect of Water, Gaoler of the Darkness. Motionless on his knees staring at the wreckage. The shadows had already returned to conceal his face.

Jordan, meanwhile, was lying in a heap in the hallway. He coughed, and wheezed. He let go of his hardened layer of skin, and it shattered to the ground next to him.

"Congrats Kano, you only managed to fracture a couple of ribs. Can't say the same for the office but," Jordan winced, and he gathered himself to stand up. "We'll fix that up in no time."

Jordan stood up and felt around carefully. It was as he thought. Two possible fractures, but no noticeable damage that could prove troublesome. In terms of triage, he could be left until the end of the battle to be dealt with. Of course, it would be more difficult to know if he had internal bleeding, but based on the direction of the break, it could prove troublesome later... Rosalin would not be happy either way. Oh well, she could deal with Kano if she had a problem.

Manilow entered the office, and almost fell into the mess. He looked at the damage and shook his head. This probably wasn't worth dealing with right now, especially considering the way Kano was sitting in the back of the room silently. He made a makeshift path out of the rubble and walked along it, breathing heavily, and finally reached Kano's side. A witty comment came to mind, as they usually did, but Jordan snuffed it out. He got down on his knees next to the Headmaster, and inspected the cut. Clean, the way Jordan liked. Nothing unnecessarily removed, but absolutely no corruption left to spread. Which in a contradictory way, worried Jordan more. This was far beyond anything they'd ever dealt with before. He couldn't exactly refer to anybody on what to do. Left with nothing but his instincts, Jordan looked the Headmaster up and down, and then gave him a hug.

It wasn't a hug of lust, or love, or a hug of camaraderie. Neither of those things were a part of their relationship. It was a way to convey the support, the stability, that Kano needed, when literally everything around him was crumbling to pieces. When his own body betrayed him. Jordan couldn't say what caused it, but whatever small part of Kano that was still human, Jordan held onto it, letting Kano know that he was there for him. Though the longer Jordan held the hug, the more he wondered whether there actually was anything he could do to help, considering his past... A soldier, a man who follows orders, a tool to be used to terrible ends...

"OW, FUCK!"

Jordan flinched out of the hug, and clutched at his shoulder. The Grit. Grinding in between his joints. He'd barely used a fraction of his power. By his own standards, he shouldn't be anywhere close to feeling his old injury. He wanted to return the hug, but the selifishness of pain had absorbed them both it seemed. Jordan sat next to Kano, the two of them nursing their war-wounds.

Jordan wondered what on earth the next battle would be.

The silence between the two would drag on until minutes turned to a full hour and still Kano had not so much as budged. The only reassuring sign was the temperature had normalized despite the ice. The book at his hip dangled from the secure chain as it always did and survived the thrashing dutifully, catching the shine from the hallway for the briefest of moments.

Slowly his vision turned to look upon it. The book contained written memories, photographs, signatures, thousands of experiences that would fade with time as all things did from the natural mind of living people. Even an Aspect would forget after enough time had passed.
So the important parts had been written. Recorded for his eyes only, to remember himself.

Remember his own mortality.

The chain shattered at the passing of his hand as the heavy tome fell into the waiting fingers, placing it with reverence upon the floor in front of him. Normally none would see his words but Kano barely registered Jordans presence, even through the hug. Heartfelt though it was.

Nimble fingers flipped open the book with practiced efficiency as they leafed through page after page of Headmasters life. Previous students who he had taken from broken homes and raised, from children to adults, and from adults into families. Some large and others small but all with smiling faces. Kind words of respect and love were scrawled on the worn pages.
In the center of the book was the last picture of his wife, painstakingly etched onto a piece of paper.
Kano dared not touch it and instead kept himself focused on it, beginning to speak. Suddenly aware of the other sharing his.. moment.

"... I remember pain so fleetingly now. Perceptions changed as the body did, until what made me human had been erased."

His hand idly brushed where his arm had been, feeling the watery body below already beginning to replace the limb. With the essence trapped inside the corrupted arm it would not be replaced instantaneously.

"This.. burden. The Darkness. It eats at me, even now, as the tainted will of of the wielder continues his fight within."

The book closed softly, returning to his hip as the frozen chains returned across the cover to secure it while Kano stood.

"Your own corruption harms you the same as me it seems. You are still alive, so I ask. Do you fear it? What you must sever from me that may be festering in you?"

Jordan looked to Kano, then to the room around them. The result of corruption being let loose. There was a lot of reasons to fear this force that was worming its way into his being. Though, he'd had Grit in him since long before he'd ever started taking care of Kano. But was doing so making things worse? For all he knew it might be. Jordan coughed again, harder this time, and as he brought his arm away from his mouth, it was spattered with blood. Internal bleeding. Shit. He looked closer, and noticed it was browning, clumped. Clots. He was coughing up clots. Jordan shrugged, than hissed as that brought another twinge of pain to his chest.

"Kano, I don't fear the corruption. That's not bravado. It's the truth. The corruption isn't what scares me." Jordan paused, and then figured he might as well just come out and say it.

"I'm terrified of what you might to do to stop it."

Jordan's eyes flicked to the book on Kano's hip. He pointed at it, "That is far more important, than my own stupid efforts to cleanse you. I'm just a tool. But if this corruption really is spreading, I think, I couldn't tell you why but my gut just tells me that that book of yours holds the key. Ow, son of a bitch!" Jordan tried to move his shoulder, and loosen it up. It wouldn't move. It was locked in place.

"Shit. So much for loosening up with a couple extra reps earlier..."

"You fight demons your own way and it is respectable. Strength and loyalty are admirable traits, but we differ. I came to you for help with my problem," His hand idly brushed the book at his hip, "But have you sought help for yourself? If this is not dealt with permanently it might one day threaten everything. So I will do everything in my power to stop it."

"That's just it, Kano, I don't see how more power will make this problem better. Look what happened when it was just your arm!"

"I have lived an eternity. No other choice is known to me. Must I lay down and die as all the others have, or should the fight not continue? Every day of peace we have atop our homeland was paid for in blood and suffering that the spirits of the past paid willingly."

Jordan didn't know what to say to that, not really. "I've only lived a handful of decades, so maybe it's a matter of perspective, but the way I see it, the only battles you have to fight are the ones you choose. And if this Academy's answer to its history of blood and suffering, is a legacy of more blood and suffering, I'm sorry Kano. I don't care what you have on me, or what they'll do to me, I can't bring myself to support an effort like that. It would break me." Jordan rubbed at his shoulder with his other hand, it was starting to feel a bit better, if only a little.

"The only one who should suffer is me. The corruption has always been a threat to us, every elementalist. It is the only blemish on the harmony of our homes. Every student will fight such a creature eventually and must be ready. For myself.."

Kano glanced at the wreckage of his once pristine office.

"If the problem gets worse. Where my presence threatens the way of our people I will remove the problem from this place for good."

All things faded in time. Kano had always groomed successors among the generations, powerful Elementalists who could one day hold the mantle of the Aspect when at last it was time for his soul to join with the primal that had made him. To live on as part of something grander by far.

But the Darkness of the soul was breaking that future and choices would be made someday. With Kano gone it would mean two new aspects elevated to the world and as of yet.. There was no person fit to wield the lights opposite.

"Buy us more time, Jordan, and I will fix this. It is my duty as an Aspect."

"I don't know how to, and your solution to all this destruction is your own self-destruction. That cannot be the answer. It just doesn't make sense. To destroy an arms cache, you don't set off an H-bomb over the entire surrounding country side. Duties or no, you need to come up with something better, damn you."

"I am open to suggestions at this point, but the other Aspects cannot help me. They remain pure, to aid me in this might mean their corruption too."

Kano rose to his full height and extended his hand to Jordan, surveying the wreckage clearly now. A moments slip of his concentration and the powers he wielded had reduced a confined area to nothingness it seemed. The harmony of the room all but obliterated.

"This is the fate of all if corruption takes us, any of us. You are right in that this threat cannot be battled alone no matter how.. 'H-bomb' I go?"

The phrasing was foreign to the Headmaster. Likely Jordan had meant some human weapon of great destructive force but its meaning was lost to him beyond that assumption.

"Perhaps it is time to teach the others the true danger, instead of hiding it in the dark for it to fester.."

"Wait, back up, can you even be sure that this corruption is caused by Darkness? Because I saw just as much ICE as darkness in that freak-out of yours. What if it's something else? Is that possible Kano?" Jordan took his hand, his bad arm still crunchy, but at least semi-mobile now.

"Because I was pure until I let it in!" Kano roared, turning to tower over the other man. "Because the things we fear hunted us down like animals until we fought back. Because the shadows hide the hearts of others beneath it until they suffocate or give in. It has happened to me, it has happened to you, and it can happen to anyone. Like a parasite. If change is to be made it must be done before my time is over. You know this. A new Aspect must wield the Darkness, same as for the Waters, and peace be assured. Only then I believe it will end.."

Kano was plagued with uncertainty at his own admission. While it was true that there was no proof it was the Darkness itself that caused the spirits to grow angry and change, resentful of the ones who wielded their gift and shaped them freely, it was the only explanation he had ever accepted.

Tolerance was given to the Darkness wielders of today on advice from others for the sole purpose of finding one with the potential to wield the Aspects power and prevent another civil war.. Wasn't it?

Jordan's fists were clenched, and he was shaking. He looked down and exhaled faintly in awe. His fists were Ironclad. He hadn't done that, let alone done that unconsciously since... Since...

Since a time where he'd known nothing but sheer unadulterated terror.

"Kano, those are the words of a man who is scared. Terrified. We need to understand what's going here. Our lack of knowledge is the greatest obstacle to overcoming this. I'll ask you again. Are you certain that this corruption couldn't come from another source? How many Dark wielders do you even know of, who could even do something like this? These children play with shadows for God's sake! Tell me why you're so fucking scared of this thing? You're the gods-damned Aspect of Darkness! You're-"

But Jordan was no longer shouting at the Headmaster in the ruins of his office. He was somewhere else entirely...

"Jordan!"

Too late, it seemed. For Kano to realize the man had stood his ground despite receiving an injury, coughing blood as he spoke wisdom while the Headmaster only snarled and shouted like some common thug. Ignoring the sweat on the mans forehead as he tried to stay on his feet long enough to help despite his own injury..

One arm slung over Kanos shoulders he hoisted Jordan up with ease, a firm grip on the mans waist. There would be time for talking later, and conversations long overdue.

"We will finish this another time." He whispered, striding out of the destroyed office in a steady route to the infirmary.

From the hallway as the duo departed, two sets of eyes watched the pair wander back to the surface. Two sets of eyes amidst the empty halls, one a shade of red so vibrant it threatened to set your soul aflame, and the other a color of green that radiated with the call of the earth itself. The lash of power had been noted and investigated but even they knew not to approach. Wordlessly the pair faded back into the halls, observing what they could.
Ready to act.

So, if electrical impulses are what ultimately causes a body to move, could I use them to increase my own reaction time? Would that be dangerous? I'm sure If I used to much I could hurt myself. What about using small, delicate impulses to help with a persons damaged nerves? I know I've read a study about small electrical shocks helping the nerve damage brought on by diabetes. How hard would it be to get a shock small enough, and would there eve be a point? If I stopped administering the shock would the nerves just return to their former damaged state? Could I even get the shock to the right place without hurting them......God I need a hobby.

Alexander finally put down the book on anatomy he had been studying, letting it close with a thump. Here it was, a beautiful and cool day, and what was he doing? Reading a science textbook. Yeah Alex, real cool, no wonder your always surrounded by so many adoring friends. Alexander allowed his body to slide and he laid his head back on the roots of the giant oak he was laying underneath. He stared up into the massive oaks branches, and actually smiled a little bit.

He had to admit life had gotten a lot better sense he started at the academy. He was still horribly awkward and lacked any sort self confidence, but he didn't feel like he was walking around on egg shells anymore. Bruises had faded, and though he still had some permanent physical reminders of his father, he didn't care as much. He had even found that he loved the science classes he was able to take, and hoped that maybe he had found something he could be good at.

Slowly Alexander lifted his hand and examined it. Concentrating, he let small flashes of lightening arc from his fingertips. They didn't travel far only an inch or two towards the palm of his hand. He still felt like he wasn't grasping something. Controlling the shape of the lightening should have been easier. He understood the concepts all well enough but it never seemed to fully click. He had a feeling he knew what the problem was though....

Lightening was wild. It was the embodiment of energy, it was unchained and explosive. You couldn't tame lightening. Oh sure you could direct it, give it a path of least resistance, but sometimes it decided "Hey, screw you buddy!" and did whatever the hell it wanted. In essence, lightening was free, and Alexander...well...

Alex concentrated harder. He could feel the small arcs of electricity, sense them searching for a path to take. As he shot another few sparks from his fingers he held onto them this time. He pushed his will against them, shaping them slowly into a ball. It took more concentration and time then he felt it should have but eventually he managed to shape the small charges of electricity into a ball of lightening. It wasn't very big, a little bigger then a ping pong ball, but it was some of the most complicated work Alexander had been able to accomplish. It flashed and surged, held in place by his will, until finally it vanished with a small zapping sound. "Damnit...." Alex whispered to himself, aggravated with himself. He could do some things, send larger flashes of lightening, charge small objects, even shock a person if they annoyed him enough...not that he ever would. But still, it never felt like enough.

Chaska

A sound of moving water began to fill his mind, gentle at first, a mere trickle.

Chaska's bare feet pressed into the damp dirt as he grounded himself firmly where he stood, his bare torso emitting a soft fog from the heat of his skin and the cold of the air. He was standing by a small stream on a patch of dirt near it's banks, a place he had found nearly as soon as he had found his dorm. This place was sacred to him, a place he could meditate and extend his soul to the mni-nagi, a place to teach himself the will and ways of his element. In his home, among his people, he will be required to guide in the way of his icinupa nagi. To do such, he must mature and grow in his understanding of water, of the tunkasila.

Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and pushed the balls of his feet deeper into the wet soil, feeling the cold water flowing before him throughout his form. As he focused, his body lowered to a crouch and his hands submerged into the icy stream. For a few moments he shivered, but as he relaxed he felt the cold become comfortable and spread over his body.

The trickle began to grow, the sound of running water echoing throughout his mind.

He began to feel the movement of the water, feeling the places it could flow, and where it could not. He lowered his head, and the ends of his long raven-black hair tickled the surface of the water, and he felt the contact within himself. Focusing on that sensation, he began to push his spirit outward, feeling the bottom of the stream, mapping it's textures and feeling it's obtrusions in the form of rocks and dust. He felt himself being pulled down, and allowed his spirit to flow with the water, experiencing each turn and drop as the stream grew and grew. He felt himself moving faster and faster still, as the speed of his soul increased so did his mass, the conjoining of streams was making him larger and larger.

The sound grew steadily, and soon their was a roar within him.

He was moving at dizzying speeds, but he forced himself to remain grounded and focused. He knew from his times before what was coming, a great fall of water that had always disconnected him from the water he longed to connect with in his soul. He felt a rising in his stomach, the nausea of such wild movement sickening him to his core. The vertigo had always become unbearable at this point, some of the earlier attempts had even caused him to fall into the stream before him. His fingers dug into the dirt of the stream, and as he pushed himself further and further streams of water began to flow up his arms, and their was water spreading across his exposed chest in individual lines. Dozens of them traveled across his form, and the streams soon began to crawl up his hair as well.

As the water began to cover his physical form, he felt the point at which he had always failed arrive, and with an audible groan, he felt his spirit fly from the edge of the mountain, collapsing into the pool of water hundreds of feet below.

The Sound was silent, and he could hear it throughout his entire being.

The individual streams of water traveling across his body broke apart as he pulled his hands from the water, and soon he was dripping wet from his head to his toes. Luckily, he had learned a long time ago to wear nothing but a pair of dark grey shorts when he meditated. Standing up, he rinsed his muddy feet in the water, and walked from the dirt patch to a nearby cluster of rocks; upon which he had placed a single towel and his regular clothing.

Being sure to check his surroundings and guarantee there were no wandering eyes, he pulled off his damp shorts and picked up the towel, drying first his hair and then his naked form. After drying his torso and extremities, he clothed himself with a pair of dark blue-jeans and a simple black t-shirt. He had been lucky with these jeans, finding a pair that fit him this well at the goodwill on his reservation was a rarity, especially in such fair condition. He then sat upon the rocks and dried his feet, ignoring the slight dampness at his knees by the contact of wet feet and denim. After they were dried, he pulled on a pair of simple black socks and dark brown boots; some sort of generic timberland he had been given before leaving for the Academy by one of the Elders.

After tying the laces of his boots, he pulled on the light Jacket he had brought as well, a simple thing with, in Chaska's opinion, beautiful blue hues. Reaching into the right pocket, he pulled out a soft-pack of unfiltered cigarettes, something his mother had promised to mail him in secret abundance. Smoking tobacco was a way of life for the Lakota long before the Europeans had come and wrapped it in paper, but one must admit it was far more convenient then a pipe. Removing a cigarette from the white pack, he placed it in his mouth and lit it with a lighter he produced from his jeans.

Taking a deep puff, he continued to towel down his hair, attempting to get it as dry as possible. He held the cigarette in his mouth as he rung the towel out with a quiet curse a few feet outstretched from him. His hair was still relatively damp as he dropped the cigarette to the dirt and ground it into the soil it had once grown from. Blowing out the final puff of smoke he had inhaled, he threw the towel over his shoulder and made his way back to the dorms as the morning light cast shadows behind the trees he walked through.

Zeke was following a sunbeam. It was reflecting off something near the art classroom, and he wandered off in the complete opposite of the direction the rest of the class was. He'd made a couple of friends so far, and he'd enthusiastically sent his parents pictures of all of them; Yellow, Icy, Icy's Seat, Bookie, Braids... But most of all, he had told them the most about Viola. She made him feel happy, though the way his mom had smiled and his dad had laughed when he told them about her made him worried. Did they know something he didn't? He liked hanging around her, and Braids. That was that.

He ducked around an older student, his eyes fixed on the light, then he raised his camera to photograph the way a beam in the ceiling split the light with a shadow. It actually bent the light a little; he could see the slightly lighter triangle behind the wood that shouldn't actually be lit if light was straight lines. After taking the photo, he turned around and took a photo of the beam from a different angle. It wasn't as interesting, but the class teacher had gone on and on and on and on about composition and context, which meant he wanted Zeke to make his pictures more interesting. Or at least that's what Zeke thought he said. Apparently "normal" people didn't find pictures of speckled rocks and shiny windows interesting. The teacher had praised Zeke's skill with porter-achure, but he'd said that while looking at Viola's picture so Zeke had snatched the camera back.

Zeke pouted. Did he have to try and take a picture of the beam and the light from the top? But he couldn't climb that high. And Viola couldn't do the flying thing, and she wasn't here. So he couldn't, and so Zeke decided to do something else. He started retracing his steps, finding the photography classroom and walking past it in the direction of the gardens. He'd have to ask if his pocket money was enough for a long lens yet. Then he could take photos of the town from the school, and catch the liquid orange sunset from his dorm window, and maybe even start getting the bright stars. He'd seen one that kept changing colours. Red, blue, red, blue. Zeke had tried making a dot that did that, but it just looked purple.

Amelia ran up to her room and threw open the door. "Hi," she panted out to her roommate. She ran a hand through her hair. Bing! Bing!
Hi. How was your day?
Amelia shook her head.
Good. U?
Gr8. Luv U.
Luv U 2.
"How was your day," she asked the male sitting across from her. "What'd you pick again? For the uh- academic specialty?"

Jideh Basrah

@Arya10108909

The window was cracked, and Jideh felt the wind brush though his loose hair. It felt like the breath of the world, kissing his face and filling him with contemplative peace. On his bedside table, his latest plant, a lily, was stubbornly closed. He'd already tried feeding it energy, and it still wouldn't bloom. That irritated him. Luckily, this wonderful wind was pleasant enough to distract him. His very first plant, he'd long since transplanted, and he visited it sometimes in the greenhouse where he'd first met other elementalists. He'd figured he wouldn't be seeing much of Zeke, at least while the two explored their separate disciplines. Still, he couldn't help thinking about Kanako, and Dia, and which courses they would be taking...

He heard the key in the door and kept his gaze out over the fields that sprawled away from the dorm building. The sun was getting low in the sky, turning the normal blue hue beautiful shades of orange, red, yellow, and pink. He heard her ask a question, and he figured he at least ought to be polite. They didn't tend to see much of each other, hadn't in the past three months at least, but it would be a good idea to keep on good terms with somebody who had access to all of your things.

"I asked around and figured out that no matter which education path you choose, the course material is basic stuff,
with more complicated specialty courses coming in subsequent years. So I bit the bullet and took practical Biology and Chemistry. Bio-chem, essentially. I tried to ask to get put in some kind of botany class, even as an extra course, but wouldn't you know it, that idiot Manilow was manning the registration desk when I went up, and he seemed hellbent on pissing me off.
Ah well, it's like farming I guess. Basics first."

Jideh faced Alyssa properly. Or was it Anna? Crap. He suppressed a blush of embarrassment furiously.

"So uh, what about you...? What uh, did Manilow call you when you went up? He kept calling me Lotus Flower, the prick."

~Eirwen~

@Regitnui

"Uuuugh."

Eira's morning started as usual. Alarm clock went off. Didn't wake up or budge for nearly half-hour afterwards. Finally get annoyed at the beeping and literally roll out of bed. Stand up, walk over to the shower and wash herself. Spend thirty minutes half-asleep in the shower followed by lazily getting dressed as fashionably as she possibly could. What? She may have objectively been a lazy NEET, but she was a lazy NEET with Standards! Couldn't go around not looking fabulous, nope. After that, was breakfast...or what Eirwen passed as breakfast. A healthy assortment of junk food ranging from chips, soda, and instant noodles. What? Noodles were delicious.

After getting dressed in the slowest manner possible, she left the dorm, expecting the day to go just like it had for the past few months in this veritable hellhole. Work! Learning! Physical activity! That last one was the worst. She could hardly believe herself. Gah, why did she get sent here? She had zero interest in anything. She just wanted to find a nice place to nap and just generally not talk with anyone. People didn't have anything interesting to say anyways.

She already decided she'd be alone, anyways.

She exited the dormitory buildings, a half-asleep gaze on her face as she walked through the campus and towards the main building. She wasn't looking forward to classes of any kind. Physical or mental activity was not her forte. Not that she wasn't healthy or smart - quite the opposite she liked to believe. She just found that sort of thing completely and utterly grating and annoying and not helpful in the slightest way whatsoever. Eventually, her steps carried her into the main building.

Her goal now, were the gardens. They were a rather nice place to take a nap and generally ignore everyone. The nature in the area made for a rather pleasant vista to just block out everything else.

That said, her snack supply was running low.

"Hmm..." She reached into the back of chips, pulling one out and biting it in half. She was also running low on instant noodles and soda. She'd have to buy some more at some point.

"Oof...!" And then ran right into someone, stumbling backwards over her feet and causing the last of the potato chips to spill all over the floor.

the absolute horror

...if the floor wasn't so comfortable she might have actually said something. Instead though, she simply laid on the floor...unmoving. Huh, maybe she could take a nap here. Too much effort to get up anyways.

Amelia snorted. "Aah. I'm sorry. He decided that my name was 'Air girl'. I don't even control air!" A pot shattered, the result of Amelia's anger. She felt her power drain away as she experienced a 'power blackout' when she lost her powers for at least four hours."I decided to do Art and Technology. Art-tech. Like, CGI and anime. Manilow is such a prick. I hate physical education." Amelia flopped on her bed. "I'm really bad with names. What's your name, again? I'm Amelia, in case, ya know, you couldn't remember."

The sky was turning a beautiful pink at the sunset. "How's your plant coming along?" Amelia gestured to the still not-blooming flower. "It's beautiful."

It had been an....interesting experience to come here to this school, and three months had already passed after her arrival. Some had not exactly been friendly, a thing she was oddly used to when it came to thing in general, though some had been...nice? Like, actually nice back to her when she had talked to them. It honestly made the change several times better considering how things had been before for her, albeit she didn't really show the negatives to ever random person she met. Seriously, it was a welcome change of pace from the monotony and expected reactions she had been accustomed to back home, though admittedly coming here had saved her from something worse off in all likeliness. At least, from what she had heard and knew about the situation back home anyways. Better off here than around a bunch of asshole teachers who'd just ramp up the crap done towards her in the high school, really.

Eh, mixed negatives and positives of her life aside, she had at least met someone with similar-ish interest already. Some girl lazier than a Snorlax in a Pokemon game...heck, the white-haired girl probably ate just about as much as one as well for that matter. But she gamed pretty well, all things considered, and in three months the two had made a habit of meeting in one or the other's room to play and talk and snack in the meantime. It was a pretty good setup, if she had to say something on the matter, though at times it felt like they were some married gaming couple with how they treated each other. Eirwen was the other girl's name, and she was usually easy to find with her habit of being as physically active as a sleep-deprived sloth.

So as she had walked into the gardens to get a breath of fresh air, having been up earlier than a certain someone, she found herself coming upon a scene she hadn't expected...but as not surprised about. Staring deadpan at the scene of Eir lying on the ground, who was seeming to contemplate in her usual demeanor the potential usability of the floor under her as a makeshift bed, she let out a sigh and shook her head to try to wake herself up a bit more. She then walked over with her hands in her front hoodie pocket, first looking down at the helpless smol child lying before her, at her complete mercy, at-

"Eir, Eir, get up. You probably just got out of bed. Get up. I'll make you a pizza at tonight's session if you get up," the brown-haired girl said, lightly kicking the top of Eir's head, an affection gesture that she had become accustomed enough to by this point in time to prod Eir to get up. Besides, she knew how to make a pizza, since there were no places around here to get one.

Then looking back up at the boy with the camera that Eir had run into, a sheepish smile on her face as she rubbed the back of her head with one hand. It was a notable change from her moments prior deadpan demeanor in dealing with her gamer friend on the floor, and was actually more like her usual, friendly self. Though admittedly, she enjoyed not having to always be on guard around the sleepy puddle she had just prodded with her foot.

"Hey there, i don't think we've met yet, actually. You alright? My name's Leanne, and, eh, sorry that my friend here just probably plowed into you," the blue-eyed darkness wielder said, reaching out a hand towards Zeke in an attempted relaxed and friendly gesture on her part, her other hand still in her hoodie pocket.

Alex closed his eyes for a moment and just enjoyed the feeling of the cool breeze for a moment. He had to say, for being so high up, the weather was pretty perfect. Alex had always liked colder weather anyways, but fall around here seemed like something special. He had heard that the weather was kept fairly manageable due to all the elementalists and their many...activities...whatever that meant.. But regardless it was a nice place to live, and the colors of the trees really were wonderful to watch.

A sudden growl snapped Alex out of his contemplation. For the briefest of moments he thought he was being stalked by some sort of feral fox, until his stomach decided to growl again. Oh yeah...food. He knew he had been forgetting to do something this morning, apparently that thing was actually eat. It was kind of a bad habit of his, he just got so involved with everything else that he forgot to get food.

Sitting up, Alex grabbed his books and stood, stretching just a little. He had considered going and seeing what food he could scrounge up at the school, but he was pretty sure he had some cookies stashed away in his room, and he really didn't feel like carrying all of these books around with him either.

As Alex wandered towards his dorm his mind wandered as well. He wondered if he should talk to one of the teachers about his abilities. He was sure they would be able to help. Non of them actually mentioned what his seeming lack of control, in fact, they acted like he was doing perfectly fine. But it just never felt right. My father was already throwing around fireballs at my age, I should be able to do better then this. Maybe its more then just a mental block, maybe somethings physically wrong with me....Maybe I'll never be able to wield my element like everyone else... What if I..

A root jumped out of the ground and snagged Alex's foot. Alex floundered for a moment attempting in vain to regain his balance and not fall flat on his face, he was less then successful. His books flew out of his hands scattering across the ground, he managed to get his hands underneath himself and slightly cushion his fall, but it didn't help much as his stomach slammed into the ground and the air rushed fro his lungs.

He laid there for a moment, trying in vain to catch his breath. How could he have been so stupid? He should at least be able to watch where he was going. Well maybe he got lucky and no one had seen his amazing display of athletic prowess. He looked up just in time to see one of the other boys from his class. And there's the cherry on the crap ice cream sundae. He recognized the boy, though he wasn't sure if that made it better or worse. Chaska was in some of his other classes. They hadn't talked a lot, Chaska came off as a little quiet as well if a lot less....awkward. Slowly, Alex pushed himself off the ground as Chaska got closer. Alright Alex, say something to make yourself look at least a little less like a giant idiot.

"Damn root came out of nowhere...." God job....

Chaska
Interacting with; @CrabInATree

"Damn root came out of nowhere...."

Came the voice of the the striking young man before him, laying on the ground along with a handful of books. Chaska had still been recovering from the nausea of his recent meditation, and as such was not particularly focused on his surroundings aside from what was immediately near him. As such, he was quite surprised to see one of his fellow classmates fall on such a blatantly obvious root. He suspected something, and vocalized it in his deep, smooth voice.

"No, you ignored it. It was there plainly."

Kneeling down, his still damp hair clinging to the sides of his face and neck, he took hold of the nearest book. With a bit of reaching, he was able to collect all the books that had fallen and stack them neatly in a pile to his right. Staying crouched, he rested his right fist on the ground between his legs; balancing himself as he intently focused on the eyes of the Wasicu before him. With a sort of sigh, he asked the fellow student a question.

"What is clouding your sight?"

This question was prompted by his imposed role as an expected councilor and elder of his tribe, it was within his cultural demand for him to be sage in a matter, a Pksape-Wakicuza. As such, he felt an inclination to advise and assist in mind, spirit, and body. The greatest leadership promoted all three aspects of men.

Jideh Basrah
@Arya10108909

Jideh winced as he heard the pot crash. He got out of his seat and dug around under the sink to find the dustpan. He set to, cleaning up the mess. There had been to noticeable flame-like, water-like, or earth-like cause, which he supposed meant she had wielded an approximation of air. That type of aetherial imitation was hardest to spot, and Jideh found himself half-wondering what an aetherial could do with a distracted opponent and very pointed use of aetherial air. He'd found himself thinking more often about things like that, in the months following the Midnight Run. How elements clashed, what might happen if one elementalist fought another.

"Amelia. I knew that. Jideh, Jideh Basrah. I don't think I ever formally introduced myself, sorry about that." He didn't really know what else to say when it came to her choice of study. CGI and Anime were impressive, if a handful of YouTube videos were anything to go by, but he'd never seen it featured very prominently at the Academy, and he wondered who taught it. Back on the farm, he'd had zero time for movies, so he supposed it might pique his interest once they started class in earnest.

Having finished clean-up, Jideh disposed of the shattered pot, sighed and resolved to pick up another one next time he stopped by the greenhouse. The gardener who minded them had been very accommodating and so Jideh hoped he could somehow pay them back. Amelia's comment about his flower cause him to return his gaze to the lily. As the rays of sunset cast glowing light onto the translucent petals wrapped firmly around the flower's head, Jideh hummed appreciatively and wished he had a camera on hand so he could show Zeke. He'd just have to tell the boy about it when they saw each other next. His mind floundered, trying to remember the comment Amelia had made only a minute before.

"Yes, flowers are seldom ugly. They evolved to be aesthetically pleasing. You'd be surprised how often looks come into the equation when looking at which species survive. You for instance, shouldn't have any issues finding a mate. Er,
boyfriend. Science textbooks can be very dry, even when discussing humans."
Jideh sat back down, closed his eyes, and focused on controlled breathing, trying to reap every minute bit of relaxation he could from the evening, knowing that class would begin soon enough, and he wouldn't have this opportunity for much longer.

"You know, Manilow's crazy, but in this instance he is correct. If what I've read about aether is true, then you are actually manipulating air through the influence of aether when you do things like you did when you broke that pot."

"You have a very nice name. Yeah, I guess Manilow's right. Sorry about the pot. I like to think of my element like hard air, so I don't truly do anything at all with the other elements. Sometimes I call them, but it's highly unlikely. Do you like to read? What genre? " Amelia had found, over the years, that inquiring about books lead to very polite conversations, although Jideh already seemed very polite. "Do you have any siblings?"

Bing!Bing! Amelia pulled out her phone and set it to vibrate, telling her brother, Later. Not now. Amelia studied Jideh for a moment then said, "You're the Flora guy, right?"

Bhu Adamina

Breathe in, breathe out. Focus on the grains. Each singular, minuscule speck. Imagine them banding together to make a spiral. Good. They're circling around you, forcing your feet off the ground. Just breathe. In, out. In through your nose, out through your mouth. You've got this.

Olive-toned eyelids slowly opened to reveal brown eyes. Staring hard at the pile of sand in front of her, the teenager extended her palms and focused. She had heard stories of other Earth elementals being able to fly in the air with the help of sand and she was determined to prove that she was strong enough. School had been going on for three months now- surely she had something she could show for it? Shaking her head to rid her mind of self doubt, Bhu cleared her throat and returned her attention to the tan granules before her. With a final breath out, she reached her fingers towards the pile and squinted her eyes. As she concentrated, several pieces started to rise and take shape in the form of a spiral. Soon several others joined and were quickly interlocking themselves to make a solid. Her eyes never wavered from the pile as it continued to grow and become larger than she had ever been capable of. She was doing it!

Bhu's excitement continued to grow as the funnel just kept getting more intricate. It was finally big enough for the next part of her trick- getting the sand to lift her off the ground. Clearing her throat, she slowly started to close her hand- and with it, the funnel started to move closer to her. A large grin spread across her face as the sand drew near. She could nearly feel the wind on her face from the ever spinning display. With a large exhale, she stepped forward-

And lost all concentration at the sound of a body hitting the ground. The brilliant tornado exploded all around her, spitting sand in every direction. Her eyes closed in a knee jerk response before she felt the granules hit her face. She groaned at the loss before slowly opening her eyes. The entire ground before her was covered in a thin layer of sand, hiding the grass from sight. Shaking her head, she raised a hand to brush the sand from her hair as she moved towards the sound that had interrupted her focus. "Whoever's out here had better have a good reason for fal-Oh."

She soon came upon Chaska and Alex- and was quickly able to establish that the former had his face against the bare ground. Hearing his excuse to the water elemental, she gave a small scoff and shook her head. The boy was usually always tripping over something. Chaska's question to the boy peeked her interest. Clouding his sight? Was that his way of saying that's all it took to focus? Her sight was perfectly fine. Her concentration was fine, her imagery was fine. Everything was fine! She would have reached her goal if some oaf had watched where he was going.

With another shake of her head, she walked closer to the pair and eyed Chaska. "Sorry, but it isn't always that simple." Bhu glanced over at Alex and raised a brow, a small grin tugging at the right corner of her mouth. "Shouldn't blame the root for your clumsiness. You could have hurt it."

Phoebe Dawn

"Cause I'm happy...Clap along, if you feel, like happiness is the truth.." Bringing her hands together, she attempted to connect the two in a clap until she realized she was still holding her book. Which, in turn, only resulted in her smacking the back of it with her free hand. The art teacher gave a small giggle as she continued to dance around her classroom. It was her mantra to start each day with a song- she may not be an air elemental, but the sound of music could enhance anyone's day. Setting the book down onto her desk, she continued to bounce on her feet as she made her way around the room.

Phoebe swung her hips to the music and hummed along to the sounds playing through the stereo. She had been thrilled when she was gifted with the sound box- yet who exactly gave it to her, she still didn't know to this day. It had just one morning ended up on her desk with a wide collection of discs. It was the lightness of art and the brilliance of air combining to make beautiful harmonies. Made her giddy just thinking about what a precious gift it was.

As she danced, her long pink hair flailed all around her, tangling itself through her arms and around her shoulders. She picked up a bucket of yellow paint and tossed it towards the empty canvas on her easel. A laugh escaped her throat as some of the liquid bounced back and hit her already paint-splotched blue jeans and purple tee shirt. Bringing her left arm up, she dragged it across her nose and could feel the yellow paint spreading across her face. Phoebe shrugged and set the bucket down before heading over to her canvas. Grabbing a brush, she began to draw shapes in the slowly drying liquid.

"Clap along...if you know, what happiness is to you.."

Drow

Location
Mountainside
@CrabInATree@hagroden

It has exactly been 3 months since the entrance ceremony of the school had happenend. Most of the new and old students had already nestled down by now yet there were still new students joining from day to day basis giving every classroom a lively change of pace from time to time.

Drow had given a few lessons already as teacher at the academy, while she was still trying to settle in a lot of her own. The dorm leader job she had mostly gotten down to point, making sure everybody is in their room, giving stufents the right keys, making sure they weren't giving fun parties without her. Her teaching was still a bit rusty though, it was mostly due to the fact she didn't talk much. Students would see her as mute and less approachable and difficult to communicate with her kuudere personality. So it was time to brighten the horizon! Her new idea of individual lessons was bound to be just perfect. The school was so kind to give her a student list sorted by element. Her focus was bound to lightning for now since that was her own element and most likely the easiest to teach others. The lightning users list was rather scare but at least it was easy to keep track of all the students that way.

She was strolling around the school grounds in the same jacket she always wore. Under her jacket she was wearing a cute somewhat frilly pink dress, black leggings underneat, some flat boots and her favorite dark blue scarf wrapped around her neck. Drow was showing pictures of the students she was looking for around the school and had specified one of her first victims their location. The specified place was the way towards the mountain. It was quite the hike out and she supposed that he hadn't gone up on the mountain all the way so she somewhat held the determination in her head. There weren't much students out here around this part of the school perimeter yet there were still more then Drow had originally expected. Most of them headed towards the mountain, the reason wasn't really clear to Drow but it probably had something to do with a good training spot of some sort. Along the way towards the mountain there were also plenty of good training areas containing rivers and hefty rocks. Drow should look into making a training spot here perhaps.

A tired long walk later Drow arrived on a higher up platform where she could see two boys nearby interacting with each other. The boy she was looking for had fallen flat face onto the ground with all his stuff scattered around him in a meter radius. Drow wiped some of the sweat from her forehead giving a small huff of relief of having found him before heading over their direction.

Slowly she came walking closer to them identifying the situation of what was happening. The fall didn't seem all to serious, no crying or yelling so she supposed he was alright. The other boy was already seemingly helping the boy. For some reason the boy didn't wear a shirt and was still half wet making Drow a little uncomfortable seeing how Drow was wearing thick and unrevealing clothing. Drow sneaked in a little closer to them taking a step each few seconds that passed by. When they would eventually noticed her she would give a short wave with one of her hands while the other was holding a small notebook clutched to her chest. A constant deadpan look was plastered to her face as she was just there staring at the two boys in uncomfortable manner as they were getting so close with each other. As they were done with their little interaction Drow would hold up a paper with text written in her notebook to the white haired boy. Showing not much emotion despites the concern written on the note.

'Are you hurt?'
