Personality: Wild and random. I like having a couple (2-3) friends to hang with and watch or join in on my crazy stunts, hence the nickname Krazy J.

History: I was raised in a small town in a small blue house by some railroad tracks. Just my mum, dad, and me. My dad was an MMA fighter, he was a master in moi thai boxing and his motto was "pain isn't an enemy that is there to torment it is an ally that helps you grow stronger". Accordingly I wanted to be like him when I grew up. By the age of 10 he had me on a weekend routine, wake up,brush my teeth, get my breakfast which mum would have ready, then meet my dad at the dojo for practice. Yeah I got bruised up allot but it was fun and I knew the harder I trained the faster I would become just like my dad. During the week however after school my friends and I would hang out and run around town having random adventures, we'd get scratched up climbing trees or playing in the forest and when I got home my mum would patch me up and give me some dinner before bed. On the mourning I turned 15 my mum and dad sat me down and told me of the family blood line how the vanguard family were blood elementalists and how when he turned 15 his dad had the same talk with him and sent him to a special school. This special school was named the Elemental Academy. He told stories of how he learned to master his gift and even some stories of when him and his old friends would sneak off for adventure and thrill. He also told me about how he would send packages of supplies to the school, like medical supplies and food. We ended the night with my mum and dad saying in a few weeks it would be time for me to go to learn, to use, and to control my gift. On the day of, my dad gave me his black and red duffel bag to put my gauze and some medical supplies in saying it was his old bag he took to the school as well and as they dropped me off we said our goodbyes and gave final hugs and I walked up to the doors, wore my huge crazy smile, and thought to myself.... here we go hopefully I make friends with the wild crowd and have some awesome adventures oh and learn my element too.

Personality: Vera is a laidback yet confident individual with a desire to be warm and amiable towards others. She gives off a refined, elegant vibe that may make her come across as arrogant or cause her friendliness to be perceived as superficial. She may also seem nonchalant and even a little naïve at times. Vera has the tendency to take her privileges for granted and overlook the needs of others, usually unintentionally, but takes no offence at being reminded about her display of such behaviour as she is willing to learn to get along with others, unless of course, that means going against anything she feels strongly about.

History: Vera was born into a well-to-do family that owed their wealth to their ownership of SnuqHomes, a well-known furniture and home accessories company in the region where she grew up. Being an only child, she was constantly pampered with expensive gifts by her parents, but not so much with their time due to their busy schedules. Still, Vera was contented with her life and all it provided her with, right up till her early teens. Well, till she turned fifteen, to be exact, for that was the year when she learned that she was gifted with the element of light, much to the dismay of her family.

Due to general prejudice towards Elementalists, Vera’s parents, who were highly-respected business figures were apprehensive about the status of the family. They were acquainted with many who were not exactly tolerant of those gifted with elemental powers. If word got out that their own daughter was an Elementalist, much trouble may follow. At a loss of what to do, Vera’s parents resorted to travelling to an Elementalist community in secret in an attempt to seek advice regarding their current situation. That was when they learnt of Elemental Academy, a solution that they were thankful for. After they returned from the visit, Vera was promptly and discreetly sent off to the academy where she was free to use her gift and no longer had to hide it.

Fallon is sweet and gentle. She’s incredibly friendly, and full of life. She is rather sensitive, and will be hurt if she’s yelled at. She tends to hide behind her twin brother Kane, and would do anything for him. Fallon is a lovable girl.

History:
Fallon and Kane are orphans. They grew up leaning on each other, and protecting each other. The twins became orphans at the age of 5. Growing up with a loving mother and father for the first five years of their lives made things hard for them once they got to the first orphanage. They didn't understand why no one seemed to care for them anymore, and so they made quite a few mistakes that lead to a chain of heartbreaks for the both of them. Fallon grew close to one of the boys at the orphanage, and they made a pact, that if one of them were adopted, they'd try to get the other out of the orphanage. When the boy was adopted though, he left without a second glance. Fallon was 8 at the time. It was at that point, she knew how cold the real world was, and became more realistic, though she retained her sweet personality. When she was 10, Fallon was going to be adopted by a couple, but they didn't want Kane. Refusing to leave without her brother, her rock, she became rebellious, making the couple adopt another girl. Over the course of the next four years, no couple wanted to adopt the two siblings together. Fallon found out her powers over water when she was being bullied. When Kane found out about his powers, they decided to go to the academy to help train.

Kane is a fierce and fiery kid. He is easily angered. He is over-protective of his twin sister Fallon, and has quite the sister complex. If you mess with his sister, he will beat you up. Despite being rather rude at times, Kane is a real softie inside, though it’s rarely been seen.

History:

When couples started trying to adopt Fallon, he helped her become rebellious when they said they didn't want to adopt him as well. Becoming over-protective of Fallon, Kane not only started to try to keep other couples from his sister, but boys as well. Fallon still retained her innocence, but Kane hardened into a completely rebellious teenager. Fallon found out her powers first. When Kane found out about his powers later, when he was so angry about the bullies he seemed to burst into flames. They decided to go to the academy to help train.

Ms. Hargreaves has a sly youthful playfulness coupled with a graceful maturity. Though she does not seek out her students, she gives ample care and attention to those who seek her. She respects the students desire for freedom, personal space, and self-expression. She will confront those who do not behave consistently with their principles, and doesn't believe that anyone should have to bend over backwards to conform and please others.

History:

Catherine's focus lies in guiding those who fear their own power, whether they are conscious of that fear or not. This surprisingly includes those who abuse their power for violence. Catherine has gone through two major episodes in her life, one of wanton, selfish, free-spiritedness, and one of absolute obedience. Both ended badly so she is motivated to guide the youth towards their own individual balance.

ShiZhen is quiet, timid and pleasant. She avoids confrontation and dislikes conflict. She also has fairly low self-confidence and is quite humble because of it. She's the kind who just wants everyone to get along, but she lacks the qualities to be an actual peacemaker, let alone a leader. ShiZhen is also very studious and intelligent.

History:

Born the fourth of seven children to parents trying to make ends meet in rural China, ShiZhen didn't know how she was supposed to fit in, needing to juggle the obedience to her parents and older siblings with the responsibilities of taking care of her younger siblings. The family did well enough to send her and her siblings to school, but she did have to help with the family business once she got home everyday. One day, however, ShiZhen became the center of supernatural, water-related phenomena. Fortunately, the Fangs were family friends with the Vanguards, Jake being the same age as ShiZhen, with Jake's parents tellin ShiZhen's parents about the academy.
Her parents agreed to let her go with Jake to where she could learn to control her strange ability.

Kanako

Personality:
Hot-tempered, strong-headed, and proud; those three words perfectly define her. She also has a strong sense of justice, which coupled with her pride, meant that she would rarely, if ever, bow down to someone or something she deemed wrong. Thanks to her upbringing, she has quite a bad opinion on non-elementalists, thinking of them as a bunch of ignorant molasses who hated something they knew nothing about. She is also somewhat of an introvert, but not the shy kind. She doesn't really value friendship that much, preferring to spend her free time reading over socializing with others.

History:
Born from an elementalist family, she took great pride in the fact that she was one, so much so that she would be instantly hostile to anyone who viewed her kind badly. Age didn't deter her strong-headedness in this matter. She wouldn't even hesitate to use her power against a non-elementalist, if they offended her so badly. Of course, this led to her and her family having to move around all the time when she "exploded" at her bullies. They didn't really mind that much though, as they loved their daughter and knew that she did nothing wrong, especially her mother, who was just as hot-tempered as her. They eventually sent her to the academy to nurture her power, which she gladly went along with, as she was quite tired with the non-elemental buffoons surrounding her.

She is often seen with a little book on her hand. A pocketbook that she could carry around everywhere, so she could read whenever she wants.

Lyra Andor

Personality:
A bumbling, airheaded girl who always seems to have her mind somewhere else. She excessively wonders about all sorts of things and is prone to mindless wandering, often finding herself somewhere with no idea of how she got there. If she manages to keep herself focused, she's actually very knowledgeable.

She can be a good friend as long as you don't mind if she skips a beat or two of the conversation.

History:
The Andors have been scientists and scholars for generations. Lyra's father is a mathematician, and he had taught her the intricacies of numbers and logic since she was young. Lyra's mother--who named her after a constellation--is an astronomer, and has impressed on her a sense of wonder for the universe.

At a young age, Lyra seemed keen to devour her family's scholarly knowledge, but somehow she was also easily drawn to music. When she was seven years old, in an act of confidence that surprised everyone, little Lyra declared that she wanted to be a musician, not a scientist like her parents.

It was a family friend who first noticed that her affinity for music might not be superficial. He was studying the elements in secret, and found out that Lyra has a grasp on the element in which music flows: air. When he told her parents about this fact, they were less than thrilled. The magic of the elements, after all, seems so far removed from their logical sciences.

The same family friend suggested that Lyra be sent to the Elemental Academy, where she could learn about her power in peace without frustrating her parents. They still love her, but agreed that it was for the best, and sent her off.

Equipment: She plays the trumpet and the violin. She might absent-mindedly carry either of them around.

Headmaster Kano

Name: Kano Hargor

Age: Unknown

Element: Water / Darkness

Personality: Centuries of life have a way of killing off emotions. Such can often be the unfortunate disposition of the headmaster. His attitude is often one of absolute authority over students, teachers, and even the surrounding villagers. Despite the sometimes oppressive atmosphere he displays, Kano is a passionate and gentle person who cares deeply about a students connection to their second soul.

Gloomy can sometimes be a way of describing his meandering pace and absent minded mannerisms when classes are not in session. Though he can shift from a range of emotions, Kano is consistently seeking the special case students with exceptional or unique abilities, taking special preparations to groom them as future teachers or on rare occasions, his potential heir.

"My life is long. But it is not eternal. Who will guide the next generation should I pass from this world?"

History: How long had it been since that little boy with the broken arm cried into the river. How many days have passed since he was nearly killed by the hatred of our world. How quickly he came to power in an age unknown to us now.
Kano Hargor was just a sniveling whelp, destined to cry out his frustrations over the petty squabbles for land and wealth that dominated his every waking moment. Those fools of the past ravaged forests for food and fuel, mountains for jewels and vanity, and polluted the waters with the dead. The trash of their passing.
His rage fueled his ascension. A being who made peace with the cataclysmic forces of nature. Sworn to preserve it. To show others to preserve it.
His powers found kinship with other like-minded individuals. These five individuals fought for a home they had not yet created. They Changed humanity and ushered in an age of peace. The children of the future born to a new world. Humans given the same powers he had.

In the present times he looks upon his home with love in his heart and soul. The village had swelled, prospered, and created a harmony unique to it. No other culture mirrored the fruits of its communion to the primal energy and fury of nature itself.

"I wish you could see it now one last time.. You are not forgotten, my sky flower. Your memory lives on in the heart of our home."

Equipment: The only equipment he carries with him is an extremely aged leather bound book. Presumably a memento from his past life. Only his co-headmaster knows what is between the aged pieces of paper.

Felix Williams

Name: Felix Williams

Age: 15

Element: Fire

Personality: Reclusive and anti-social in the extreme is the best way to describe how Felix interacts with teachers, students, even his own father. His self imposed avoidance of other people has come from a deep rooted fear of his own element of fire and the many people he injured growing up. In times of absolute focus, anger, any emotion that overwhelms him, Felix will forcibly extract himself from the situation by any means necessary to avoid what he believes is 'the inevitable outcome'.
Passion is power to those speak with the raging fires.

Has a bad habit of getting absorbed in physical competition. While his father has commented that he is a natural athlete, Felix is what some would call a poor sport. Add in a violent temper and a literal burning ambition for victory you can see his dilemma. If he wants to be the best it will mean many moments of stress, failure, shame, overwhelming pride, every instance has the potential to end in a burning storm of misery.

That is the madness grasping his heart and mild. Fear of hurting others, of taking things too far and losing control. It is truly better for this fellow to watch from a distance and experience happiness through the eyes of another. Until he can control it.

History: Felix is the first born son in his family, his Father and mother divorced young and has never met the Sister and half brothers his mother sired down the road, and has been on his Fathers leash since the day he took his first steps.
Arthur Williams heads a chain of successful restaurants across North America and travels frequently to many parts of the country to open/manage/sell the various establishments as he sees fit. In tow like a dog was Felix. Never in the same school for more than a few months, his studies suffered greatly from the lack of a stable home. Arthur kept the boy entertained and looked after with private tutors and extra curricular activities while he was busy overseeing the expansion of his businesses, these included fencing at a young age when Felix idly mentioned he liked the decorative Rapiers hunger over the fireplace and wanted to play with one.

This was the first step down the spiral.

An element does not manifest in children. It appears around the age of 10 in a small way, then begins to grow stronger as the child ages. Nearly five years it will begin to manifest until at last the second soul has awoken from dormancy and a true bond is formed between the human host and its elemental affinity.

Felix was practicing boxing at the discretion of his father and placed with a group of older boys. The lessons were brutal to him as every session began and ended at the mercy of the larger, stronger, boys. Beaten and bruised as the 'lesson' was hammered home. Only the strong will reach success. Victory is worth any price..
Felix's last session ended with 2 of his bullies in the hospital suffering painful burns across their arm and torso, along with a few other painful bruises. Somewhere along the line Felix had snapped, the loneliness of never knowing his mother. Never seeing his father longer than a few hours. Neglect and despair.
The gloves had burned off as his feelings of helpless rage ignited the fabric as he attacked his 'betters'.

The details are lost in the haze of helpless tears and an abusive fathers disapproval. Felix's family had no elementalist lineage whatsoever. His own Father saw the boy as a freak, rather than a controller of nature his son was now just a monster. Unnatural. A mutation meant to be removed.
In the face of physical violence and threats, Felix was removed from the situation and brought to the Academy instead. To this day he has no idea how. One moment he was locked in his room for weeks on end and the next he was released into a whole new world.
The transition to true freedom has not gone over well but Felix is determined not to cause any more trouble. For others or himself.

Equipment: Nothing to his name but the clothes he arrived in, and the few meager other scraps of possessions he has come to claim.

Icarus Flynn

Age: 43
Element: Wind

Personality: Icarus can be a very closed off person, keeping to his own council over many issues he deems unworthy of someone likes Kanos attention. Preferring to deal with them on his own in a non-violent manner, which is not to say he does not use violence but will take the route with the least amount of it.

When otherwise un-engaged with his duties you can usually find him on the rooftops with a warm drink and a good book, his tastes revolving around medieval fantasy more than the science fiction space age 'nonsense'. Kind hearted, Icarus will help however he can in whatever way he can for the faculty members around the Academy grounds up to and including becoming a substitute teacher for a few days.
Though this does mean the teacher must have a lesson plan to give him or the class he mentors will boil down to a free day.

History: Raised in the middle-class part of New York City, Icarus was a wild child from the moment he took those first few steps. Brash, carefree, unconcerned with consequence to the point of exasperation as he climbed everything and anything the growing boy could get to; Including the building they lived in as he would often sneak out and go on to the rooftops.

That love of freedom and the open skyies would later manifest into his elemental heritage, a monumental occasion that saw him on the next step of his journey as Icarus was enrolled to the Academy. Under the careful tutelage of faculty and encouragement from classmates, that wild and carefree boy grew into a strong willed young man. A few broken bones along the way had done a great deal to temper his wild recklessness thankfully.

After graduation, Icarus was in Basic Training Unit #K862 (The same army training unit as Jordan Manilow) but dropped out because he didn't meet the psych evaluation requirements. While physically fit and intelligent he was simply not cut out for the harsh demands of military lifestyle.
Still wanting to help others he would return home to New York and become a Police Officer. Fifteen years of work was not kind to him however, losing faith and patience day after day as peoples infinite cruelty became more and more apparent.

To make matters worse there were other Elementalists abusing their powers to get ahead.

Having dealt with enough to make his hair gray early, Icarus retired from the city and moved to the Academy city where his best memories remained. Through community and recommendations from the faculty he was brought in as a local officer and Academy supervisor in charge of keeping the area free of 'pests'. A job he takes great pride in.

Personality: Fizbanid an eccentric and playful, funloving above all else, kind of man. Extremely generous with his favors and often lavishes special treatment on people he has taken a shine to, believing what little wealt he has accumulated would be better spent on others than needlessly stored away under his bed.

Curious and always consumed by his strange whims, Fitzgerald is never afraid to speak out or lend a hand. Ultimately making his usual research slow down in the process.

Doesn't possess a spiteful bone in his body.

History: Orphaned as a child, abandoned by his foster family, Fizban lived on the street for nearly 3 years before his ability began to manifest. Shuttled to a new home, the boy was quick to settle into a new and stramge environment with ease.
Even if his ability to learn was.. stunted.

Having failed tp learn to read or write before coming to the Academy he was given tutelage day and night to catch up with his fellow peers.
While developing his latent elemental powers it was quickly recognized that Fizban possessed a weak will, failing to produce even the most basic of manipulation in any discernable element. A gust of wind here, a spark there, nothing that came close to his peers level of control.

It wasn't discovered until the end of his first year on the grounds that his power had manifested in a different way. Aetherial manipulation was a far more rare, subtle, and difficult elememt. The requirement was an understanding of the elements at their very basic in order to replicate.

While Fizban lacked the necessary latent power to make use of his gift, he was quite clever in a different applicaion.
Essence cores.

Manipulatong the latent energies in to a crystalline form at will he quickly perfected his talent. While not as powerful it was a more controlled source of elemental power.
When thrown or coming in contact with other objects the crystalline essence shatters, creating an effect based on the color of the marble sized balls.

Blue/Water, Red/Fire, White/Wind, Gold/Light, Green/Rock. None were particularily powerful they could be used in rapid successionto a myriad of cunning effects.
As his mastery of the process grew so did thr variety.

Darkness, beams of light, binding flashes, whirlwind, flaming tornados, fog, steam clouds, rock walls, rapid vegetation growth, waves of rushing water, subzero patches of freezing cold air, and other effects deemed too dangerous for use.

After graduation he teamed up with another like minded individual and became the first of a new form of teaching at the Academy, quickly learning to convert harmful modern day technology into enviromentally friendly versions running on energy cores. Over 50 years of experience has led to the technological wonders the Academy enjoys today.

Zeke Joubert

Name: Zeke Joubert

Appearance:

Personality: Often found staring at windows, focused on how the light is moved and changed by the imperfections in the glass, Zeke is politely referred to as distracted, more accurately referred to as ditzy and unaware. He's quite intelligent, but takes a moment to engage when people speak to him. People, to him, are just objects that reflect light, and so he tends to forget people might have something to say.

He wanders frequently, and has been found in all sorts of odd places. Due to Zeke's otherwise gentle and innocent nature, he's usually left to his own devices. When you do manage to catch his attention, you find an enthusiastic and kind boy who wants to be friends with everyone.

Despite all this, he has a terrible fear of the dark. He dislikes earth elementalists and their basement training grounds, though is fascinated with gems. He likes other elements though, especially water and fire for how they change and make light respectively.

History: Zeke is the son of an electrical engineer father and a earth elementalist mother. He was a bit of a handful ever since he learned to walk, and his parents would often find him sitting by ponds or staring at devices his father was fixing. Though a happy child, his mother worried about his lack of social skills and interest in making friends.

It was one of her fellow teachers who helped her understand Zeke. She found they could bond over jewelery, and she was the one who bought him his first camera. He was enrolled in the academy in the hopes that he'd find some children his own age that could understand him and gain some real friends.

Personality

Zafi is a stoic, expressionless maiden with a gentle heart and a firmly set sense of justice. Upon first meeting, she can come off as intimidating and indifferent. To be fair, she is not very outspoken and only speaks when necessary.The reason Firiel avoids speaking is her voice, deep and melodious. People rarely match her voice with her brooding face. She only ever uses her voice when she sings, the only gift she thinks God has given her. Singing is the only way Zafi is able to express her emotions. That is the only time she will shed tears or show any facial expressions, making her appear a completely different person. Even then, she always sings in solitude. It is as if she doesn’t want people to know the state of her heart.

Due to her inability to express emotions, Zafiriel is often mistaken as indifferent. Truth is, she is easily scared, moved, and hurt. Zafi is very observant. She notices details many leave unnoticed.

Her castle of seclusion is her only refuge from the uneasiness she feels around other people. Thus, she is not necessarily an introvert, but simply doesn't know how to approach others. Zafi only laughs and sheds tears in complete solitude. Unable to understand even her own emotions, Zafi finds it difficult to interact with others. She might unintentionally offend or hurt people, but readily apologises – even for the silliest little things. But somewhere, under all her uncertainties, lies a strong and independent young girl, one ready to craft a future of her own.

Now, reading all this might make one wonder - isn't Zafiriel very weak a a person? Does she not have any strengths? Well, not visible ones. Despite her low self-colfidence and tendency to get anxious around people, Zafi has a strong sense of justice. She strongly judges people who act as what she perceives as wrong or indecent. Be it a strength or not, she also appreciates and envies genuine people - ones unlike herself. She strives to become one true to herself. A quality she is unaware of, Zafi falls in love very easily - often with people with whom a romantic relationship would be very unconventional.

A redeeming quality of hers is, whenever she is worried, she becomes extremely clumsy to the point she will walk into walls or people right in front of her.

History

Zafiriel was raised by a poor yet kind music teacher, Franco Paolini, in a small town in France. She has never known her parents and who they were. The only memento she has of her mother is a rusty pocketwatch with a phoenix carved in it. Zafi treasures it and always has it with her, wherever she goes..

Franco Paolini was the son of a famous pianist, Giancarlo Paolini. However, his father had disowned him as a disgrace to the family name. In spite of that, Franco sent his father an email every month, never getting a response.
And so it happened - one night he was strolling around the streets, as a serene melody caught his ear.



It was as if each of those notes was crying tears long lost at the grave of words. Little did Franco know Zafiriel had always listened his music lessons behind the curtain leading to the classroom. There she had sat, listening, wondering.

The stream of notes led Franco to his own apartment. He was baffled to find his foster daughter singing with a clear voice, sitting at windowside, facing the chill breezes of early November night. At that time, Zafiriel was eleven years old, a bubbly young girl with big dreams. That night, Franco sent an email to his father telling about his discovery. He got an immediate response demanding him to send his foster daughter to the Paolini Estate in the outskirts of Paris. If he sent Zafiriel to study under maestro Giancarlo Paolini, Franco might get back his status as the heir to his father.

A decision he came to repent, Franco sent Zafi to Paris. There, she was tutored in music by maestro Giancarlo. Now a lawful heiress to the Paolini legacy, Zafi was showered with empty smiles, dutiful respect, and cold affection. Whenever she was not behaving as desired, she would be slapped or locked in her room. If she showed any emotion in family gatherings, she would be scolded. This is how Zafiriel developed the strong barricade around her heart. As time went by, she grew unable to express her emotions. Her music helped her to get through the darkest days. She developed an intimate relationship with her music.

Zafiriel discovered her elemental abilities as she reached her 13th birthday. She had been beaten, scloded and humiliated in front of the whole Paolini family. She had escaped to the nearby forest. Straining her vocal cords, she let out a loud cry evolving to a heavy melody. Suddenly, she felt her body tremble. A strong wave of heat crashed through her. As the final noted faded away, a breath of fire was flashed before her eyes.

Too bad it was witnessed by none other than maestro himself. He had no tolerance for abnormal occurrences, for unnatural creatures, as he now labeled Zafiriel. Firiel was about to be sent in confinement, when Franco helped him escape. Quickly, he shoved in her hand a paper slip with directions to a place unknown. Upon leaving, Zafi decided to adopt back her birth name, de Grantaine. Months uncounted passed before she reached the Academy.

With no knowledge of her ancestry nor elemental abilities, Zafi couldn’t help but think even her parents had wanted to dispose of her. As she gazes at the magnificent symbol of natural harmony in front of her, she can not help but hope that here, she will get answers to her questions.

Personality: Valeria could be described as a little eccentric. Her enthusiasm is apparent when she is seen working on her lesson plans or her own experiments, though, there is a rather dark, discomforting side to her whimsical attitude, which is noticeable by the way she might display a tad too much excitement or pleasure at the sight of general destruction. In spite of this little quirk, her dedication to the academy and concern for the learning and safety of the students is clear through her words and actions.

History: Valeria discovered his ability at a rather unfortunate time – back in high school during a chemistry lab session while handling flammable chemicals. In short, the little accident caused a significant amount of damage, and caused some minor burns to a couple of her classmates. She was then shunned and feared after the event, and transferred to Elemental Academy to finish high school, as well as to learn how to control her elemental ability.

She continued to pursue further studies after graduating from the academy, eventually obtaining a PhD in Chemical Sciences. The reason as to why she would choose to specialize in the very subject that holds such a bad memory for her is quite unclear. Perhaps she has something to prove to herself or those who despise her, or maybe she simply finds such irony to be amusing.

Personality: Hailee loves to lead. She is a complete control freak. She also loves books.

As a general rule she is bubbly, bouncy, and excited about everything, although she is extremely hard on herself and doesn't take failure well at all.

She loves old-style dresses and skirts, but hates wearing shoes, because, well, they seperate her from the earth.

Her favorite activities are dirt-bathing, making mud, and smiling. She has an enormus love of life, witch is very apparent when she is surrounded by the elements. Except fire. Hailee very much hates fire.

If she could spend a day doing anything, she roll around in the mud. Her favorite color is brown, and she loves the concept of automobiles, although, in reality, they ruin her element.

History: Hailee was born to two non-elementalists, and due to the fact that many people in her town rejected the idea that elementalists weren't, in fact, evil, her parents decided to keep it a secret. They heard about an elementalist town near them, so they sent her off. She had a pretty happy life there with her adopted parents.

Hailee didn't have too many friends back in her wizard town, but she's confident she'll make some at the academy.

Personality: Dia is aloof, distracted by the details that make things. Like how ice is made up of crystalized water, buildings of overlaying stone, and the details of nonliving materials. The living interest her less, making her slow to notice people and as such come off as rude and antisocial.

When not involved in a conversation, or project, Dia is quiet and prone to inner monologuing on what she sees. While involved in something, Dia often becomes highly animated. Anyone who spends time around her would argue that she holds two personalities.

However, if you get Dia to become involved in the conversation you'll discover she has a great love for life and cares for others deeply. The problem is just coming out of her daze.

This love of life is blatantly obvious when she's more animated, and she becomes prone to overstating what she's thinking.

Dia is not entirely quick to open up about her deep inner fears and hopes, though, at least not until she feels comfortable around those present.

History: Dia came from two water elementalists, living nearby to the elemental school her parents had attended. She started displaying odd elemental abilities around the age of twelve, a chill around her persons. After she started becoming obsessed with details, her parents wanted to try and help her gain control (afraid that the abilities were affecting her head) and grow as a person.

In the future, Dia personally hopes to become a kind of defender with her abilities, protecting others and objects from harm. Eventually she'd love to be able to provide medical aid as well, and maybe even use her powers to help in that field (numbing and freezing, in other words).

Personality: Jideh is outgoing, and contemplative in turns. He tends to burst out into a scene with exuberance, and then go quiet for a span of time. Most people would put Jideh down as a wind user. But they haven't seen him in a garden before, when his energy is directed at the beauty of the earth around him. He can be tender, and nurturing, to a rosebush he happens upon one minute, and then be boisterous, even irritating, to a fellow student he meets adjacent to the aforementioned rosebush. To put Jideh's personality into its core precepts, Jideh is;

Mercurial - Like the plants that he loves to care for, different parts of Jideh's persona bloom depending on the situation.
Jideh is so changeable that he can, in the course of a day, run through the entire emotional spectrum!

Peaceable - Jideh hates fighting, and will jump into a fight to end it, while judging harshly the person who started it. He
believes there is always a choice between calm discussion, and senseless aggression.

Inquisitive - Jideh is a curious fellow who likes to learn by doing, and will usually figure things out just as fast as
somebody who reads a book on the topic. He likes to puzzle things out. Especially word games.

Sensitive - Jideh cares about people, and he cares about what they have to say. Jideh takes everybody at their word, and if
somebody tells him something using strong vernacular, he can take to heart that they believe what they say.

History: Jideh's history is simple. Jideh was born to a loving family some hundreds of kilometres away from the school, and when he manifested his ability to manipulate flora, the family's farm flourished. It was during a dry spell when Jideh nearly died from over-expending his energy that his family realized how much they were using him as a tool for their own gain, and so for his own benefit as well as their consciences, they sent him away to the school. The Basrah family farm still provides food to locations all over the world, and they consider Jideh to be their pride and joy. Their hope is that in time, Jideh will forgive them for their mistake, and that he will return to them even stronger than before, not only to furnish the land, but also to expand the farm and take over as its head. Jideh still doesn't know if that is the future that he desires, but he has come to the Elemental School nonetheless in the hopes that he will be able to figure out what he wants out of life throughout the course of the school year.

Equipment: Jideh has a seed pouch, Swiss Army Trowel, and his father's work gloves. These three things he carries with him no matter where he is.

Flora Concept Info

So in terms of what flora is... At least to my mind anyway, is the following;

Flora is the domain of existence which encompasses the form of matter that self-replicates and falls firmly into the plantae category of taxonomic organization. This domain also includes the fungi category, however most wielders of flora have a stronger affinity for either/or. To give an idea of the sorts of things that a Flora wielder can manipulate, picture a forest.

In this forest, there are trees, bushes, grass, perhaps. These are all things which can be classified in the domain of plantae and thus are able to be manipulated by a Flora wielder. That being said, places like forests and jungles and meadows (and caves if you specialize in fungi) are where Flora wielders are in their element. As much as a water user would love to be near a lake, or a fire user, near a well, fire, so too do Flora wielders find their strength and comfort in places teeming with plant life. So naturally, Flora wielders despise deserts, mountains, urban sprawls, and anywhere where plant-life is stifled or neglected. There are other conditions which disadvantage a plantae filled environment, such as disease, droughts, erosion, and pollution. Conversely, flora-wielders can improve their environment through gardening, agriculture, horticulture, and collaboration with users of other elements.

So of course now, we have to look at the interactions between Flora and the other elements.

Fire - You'd think that there would be zero compatibility here, but Flora recognizes the need to clear out old dead growth, and to purify the land for new planting. So there's a mutual respect, where Fire understands that Flora provides it with fuel, and Flora understands that Fire needs to be fed so as to allow for continued prosperity.

Water - Again most would say there should be an obvious affinity for water, however Flora knows that water can just as easily drown, erode, and evaporate, and remains cautious. Water on the other hand, is desperate for Flora's attentions because Flora can purify water, and filter out impurities. Flora rather bitterly, realizes that this leaves the impurities with them, and can have rough relationships with Water. Still, the two have a utilitarian relationship that has its highs and lows.

Earth - The Earth is Flora's cradle, and Flora's mother. Unlike the previous two, you would be correct in assuming that Earth users and Flora users go together like PB and J. Because of their close proximity to each other, and their reliance on each other, common is the pairing of an Earth wielder and a Flora wielder. That said, they are vehement in their desire to be seen as distinct from one another. So much so that there is a relatively well-known demonstration performed by these aforementioned couplings in which a Flora wielder will germinate a bean on a tile, and using a spurt of energy, cause the plant to bloom and grow all on its own. The bean will then wither and die over the course of a few minutes. The corresponding Earth wielder will then take a handful of soil and spread it on the dead bean. The Flora user tries to resurrect the dead bean, but to no avail. Alternatively, a sample of soil is filtered of all its nutrients and compared to a sample with nutrients provided from Flora, the difference is quite tangible. The difference between Soil, and Dirt, some say, is the covenant between Earth and Flora. The message is clear; The earth is where Flora lives, but it is not the Earth that gives Flora its essence. That is Flora and Flora's alone.

Light - Flora wielders maintain a similar relationship with Light as the one they have with Earth, albeit with much less confusion over the distinction in elements. Flora usually like having Light around so much it could be viewed as clingy, however if you had to depend on photosynthesis to survive, you might be clingy too.

Blood, Lightning, and Aetherial - Flora could care less about blood, since most everything in the domain has sap, or sugar-water, or other means of storing and transporting nutrients. Flora has a healthy respect for lightning, especially since Nitrogen producing phenomena are very beneficial to the domain of plantae. And much like all the other elements, Flora shrug at Aetherial, coming when called, but indifferent to its use.

What can a Flora wielder do?

Most anything involving plantae's natural functions and the abilities inherent, sometimes exaggerated to magical levels, or manipulated in unnatural ways. It's more beneficial to look at what a Flora wielder can't do.

What can't a Flora wielder do?

-Control any of the other elements, obviously. They can't control Earth, just the nutrient dispersion and absorption from Earth. They can't control Water, just how much of it is absorbed and released through respiration, etc. etc.

-A Flora wielder can't revive something that is dead. Nor can they use Flora magic to kill living plantae which is why Flora rely on Fire users as much as they do.

-A Flora wielder can't create new forms of plantae, only selectively breed, the old fashioned way gardeners do it.

-A Flora wielder can't manipulate plants to grow faster without taking the energy from within themselves or a willing other. If the energy is available and large enough however, they can accelerate growth exponentially and with extreme precision. This is the reason why a) Flora wielders are constantly taking in calories but never grow overweight, and b) Flora wielders tend to accrue large groups of non-Flora friends who can equally take in massive amounts of calories and never grow fat. In short, Flora Wielders are banned from Eating Contests, and are the world's most efficient personal trainers!

So there you have it! I hope this gives a better idea of what my Element idea is, and hopefully convinces you that this can really be a distinct element from Earth! After all,

Personality: Silas is hot-tempered and highly competitive, refusing to be beaten until he's given 110%. Stubborn in his opinions and generally headstrong, he tends to come off as rude and uncouth even though he doesn't intend to be. Silas is usually upfront with how he says things, most of the time thinking with his heart rather than his head. Silas is incredibly loyal and protective towards those he cares about, going out of his way to help them if need be.

History: Born the eldest of two sons to an earth elementalist couple, Silas was guarded from the prejudices against elementalists for a good part of his childhood. He'd been fond of both water and the creatures that lived in it for as long as he could remember. Just before his 14th birthday Silas' elemental power over water started to manifest, he was overjoyed and he saw it as the best possible gift he could recieve.

Soon after, people's attitude towards Silas changed as nobody wanted to be associated with an elementalist. "Don't talk to him, he's one of those freaks" Silas would not admit that his powers were something to be shunned, so he was hated by many of the kids, he even ended up getting into one or two physical fights with the particularly daring children. Worried for what might happen if Silas kept getting in fights with other kids over him being an elementalist, his parents sent him away to the Elemental Academy so he could hone his powers and learn some discipline.

Personality: Jordan Manilow is a go-gettin' arse-kickin' sand-spittin' kind o' guy. He ain't afraid of gettin' grit in his teeth and puttin' his nose to the grindstone to do what needs doin'.

In short, Mr. Manilow can be a hardass. But he's also the loudest, funniest, and most charismatic guy in the room, when he's not making you do laps. To call Mr. Manilow the quintessential coach figure does not do him justice, since he will insist he wrote the book that the quintessential coach reads every morning. So maybe he's full of himself, but he also can get right down to earth with his students when it's called for. The Headmaster himself has been at the business end of Mr. Manilow's pep talks, and let's just say that there's a reason why Mr. Manilow demands ultimate respect from his students whenever Kano makes an appearance. In four words, Mr. Manilow is;

Enthusiastic - Probably too enthusiastic. Ask the kids lying on the ground puking their guts out. Still, he brings out the best
in people.

Crass - There's a no bad language policy in Mr. Manilow's class. The exception being Mr. Manilow himself of course. The female
staff don't always find his sense of humour amusing. Mr. Manilow's reputation precedes him.

Uncompromising - Once Mr. Manilow has his sights set on something, you'll do it, or die trying. Trust me, you'd rather die than
fail to impress him. That said, failing may have been his intention all along. He's fair, but ruthless too.

Attentive - Although he can be an uncompromising ass, Mr. Manilow is always watching for the wellbeing of his students, and he
can tell when they're spent, or won't be able to do as he wishes. Years of observation have brought him a gift, and
he is scarily observant at times.

History: Mr. Manilow used to be a drill sergeant in the military. Before that, he used to be a special operations operative, performing highly classified missions. Needless to say, only Kano knows the full extent of his background. It's heavily implied that some kind of injury led to Mr. Manilow becoming a teacher at the Academy, although he has no visible injuries, which can be a source of gossip at times. However it is quite clear that Mr. Manilow has put his past behind him, and that he loves to teach the kids how to be fit, capable, active youth. He also gets a kick out of thrashing them with elementalism.

Equipment: Mr. Manilow's signature teaching implement, is a

willow rod

, which he often threatens to use, rarely if ever actually employs. In actual fact, he uses it as his primary aid in both "dowsing", as well as for climbing, fighting, etc.

Reserved - It's not really know exactly why Rosalin became a wallflower. There are theories. She tends to create convoluted dioramas in her bedroom laying out conspiracy theories you can almost believe but not quite. She's also been known to stalk people, especially if they have an interesting medical condition, and avoid their detection without any seeming outer limit. It's not that she's stealthy, but rather that she blends in so well with the environment that most people's gazes pass right over her.

Morbid - There's enjoying good clean wholesome fun at a playground, and then there's being taken from kindergarten straight to a graveyard to dig up decomposing bodies because your father wants to teach you how to avoid freaking out around dead bodies. Maybe she was raised that way, or maybe she does it to screw with other people, but Rosalin will always be the first to crack a joke "too soon," or laugh at dead baby jokes. But she's not emo, or goth, or edgy. Rosalin just doesn't understand what's so intolerable about digging around in some entrails for a half-eaten hot dog, just to see how much time passed after they left the hot dog stand before they got run over.

Protective - As a doctor, she views medicine as a giant game. She is super competitive, and hates to lose, but more than that, she believes that the best way to live her life is by serving others. Having fun is important too, but Rosalin hates it when people act useless or worthless.

Optimistic - Despite her morbidity, fixations, and hyperactive imagination, she is unrelentingly positive. This is both a result of her father's teaching, and her personal realization that more good is done by seeking to be good, than is to be found dwelling on past mistakes you can't change. The lesson itself was a hard one to learn, but her temperament is as sunny as her hair.

History: Born and raised at the Academy, Rosalin's abilities manifested relatively late, however the elemental side of her identity emerged later in her life anyway, as she spent her childhood helping her father who functioned as the Academy's undertaker. It wasn't so violent as that, but many alumni did live their entire lives on campus, or at the very least, sought to be buried on the sacred mountain, to be closer to the primal forces they'd wielded for so long.

A childhood filled with happy, if occasionally gruesome experiences ended with her transitioning naturally to the Academy for her secondary education, and eventually elemental training as well. From there she finally left the mountain and got hired as a coroner for a local police station, eventually working her way up to an advisory position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Her career ended early, when she left the Bureau in disgrace after a badly botched case. She completed a medical degree and returned home, ready to help, but also because her father grew very ill. He eventually passed away, leaving Rosalin with next to no sense of where she would go from there. She tells herself she's happy at the Academy, and fools herself most days, but hers has been a life plagued with what-ifs.

Emi has multiple stages in her personality and mostly acts to one of them during a certain time of day. In the morning and evening periods when there still isn't any sun up she is very drowsy and likely sleeps at those times of the day. She gets cold really fasts It makes her a giant slacker and a non caring person that will hug anything in her reach to get warmth. The place she sleeps doesn't matter either at that point. Her vocabulary shortens to how closer she is to sleep, so talking to her in that state isn't the best idea.

When the sun is up she gets a bunch more active than before. She is cheerful and happy and likes to do something active that will let all her energy loose. It is legendary for her to be sad, there is always a positive side to each problem.

At midday she is very jumpy and sweet, it doesn't matter what the conditions are she will pull others into a fun ride. She is affect a lot by the temperature and mostly dresses according to how hot or how cold she thinks it is. Most doctors think her sleeping habit is a mixed combination between her element and the sleeping disorder narcolepsy.

Background

Emi always used to come by her grandparents to play after school, each and every day she enjoyed coming by since she wouldn't have to lonely wait at home for her mom to come home. Her grandad would keep her busy by playing with her while her grandma would cook dinner or make sweets for the small energetic girl. On her face was always a constant smile that never seemed to disappear. It was like she was one of the sunrays self knowing her power was light. The countless hours they spent building block castles, reading and puzzling together was unimaginable. Her always sweet smile kept beaming on her face even through bitter and hard times. When the weather was down and she felt sleeping there would be the same smile as the day before. It didn't matter the situation she wouldn't want her grandparents to be sad because of her. That would break her and their heart all the same.

Days passed by like minutes and everyone started growing older. For some reason her grandad started becoming more fluttered each time she visited, especially in the summer for some reason. It was weird enough he always wanted a hug and sometimes stared at her when she entered his house. Still she didn't mind. Emi was going to middle school as her grandparents began having all the small problems to their bodies from getting older. Her parents had both gotten a promotion and had to spend more time overseas. Emi didn't mind she was happy for them to have such a successful life. She had gotten used to it now overall and didn't even look up anymore when they would be gone for an entire week. She learned to keep the house well maintained on her own and with the help of her grandparents that would often come over to keep an eye out on her. The schedule she had maintained over the past few years kept well maintained even when her homework was a big pile that needed an incredible amount of time to finish. She would never ever distance herself from them one bit.

Just as every ordinary day Emi visited her grandparents. This day however was a little odd. Her grandad didn't remember on why she was visiting them. After each and every day of visiting he couldn't remember on why she came by. Emi felt a little worried about him and after a few more days she also told her parents and grandma about the fact he was starting to forget things. They took some test off of him and indeed he had an incurable disease that would make you forget everyday stuff. It didn't matter though, he would still be the same person she had cared for each and every day. It wasn't like a relation as this would go over so quickly anyway so what there to be worried about?

Like a sword piercing her heart, just like that. It hadn't even been two weeks and his condition was already getting worse. Emi could only let out a playful laugh and reminded her grandpa that it was his favorite grandchild. After that it went like usual, he would remember and they went on like the did back in the day. Still, it seemed to be getting worse by the day. She had to help him remember and eventually even had to help with simple tasks like eating or putting on his shoes. She couldn't let the smile he loved fade just because of a little obstacle.

Taking care of the old man was getting to be a big problem since his wife couldn't stay with him for 24/7 and neither had the strength to do double work at this age. So they decided to let him stay in the hospital so he had care each and every hour of the day. It didn't hinder Emi to come by everyday. She would get a gift for him each day so he might remember on how he had gotten the gifts. He seemed happy getting them from such sweet girl but he never remembered who gave them. It was a tragedy really. Till this day she would go by everyday to take care of him like he took care of her when she was still young.

Drow is a very quiet and does rarely ever talk. She always tries to help others in Drow's own way and wants to see them smile. Despites that she is a very carefree and simple minded. Drow rarely feels sad for being alone, Drow even likes and prefers to be alone most of the time to fully concentrate on what they are doing. Drow can be very clumsy from time to time and is easily distracted by things that gets her interest. Her hair tends to freely float around if she uses her powers.

Background

The city of London, a bunch of years back in a decent sized terrace house, the birth of a small blonde girl. The girl her name was Drow, daughter of James Winterfield and Crysta Cross. Crysta Cross one of the greatest Lightning elementalists ever to exist and James, just a regular british man who loved both of his two girls.

Drow always was a very quiet and shy girl. Her powers even made it worse for the poor soul. She had a natural aura around her that dispersed electricity if touched by anyone else and sucked up any nearby electricity when walking past it or being closed to it in general. During those times she had become more aware of the aura around her and started dressing up in thicker and thicker clothes, wearing winter jackets and gloves during summer to not hurt anybody.

At the age of four the worst tragedy in her life had happened, Drow was rendered speechless after her mother had completely disappeared from the radar. After a week, a month, a year, Drow still came back to a lonely dad. Even though Crysta was gone he still did care for Drow and kept his attitude upbeat to not depress the poor girl any more. Drow slowly stopped with talking and became more and more depressed from her everyday life.

During her teenage years she had gone to the school of her aunt. Her aunt was principal of a special academy for gifted people. She wanted to know more about her mother and why she had left all of the sudden. During those 2 years she never truly got to talk about her mother much, she did open herself back up again a little more by people that she could call friends.

History: Amelia was born on July 12, 2003 in Brasov, Romania. She moved to England with her family when she was three, and then moved to the United States when she was five. Amelia's family lives in Williamsburg, Virginia. She went to a private school until she turned 14, and was sent to the Academy. Neither of her parents are elementalists, but her oldest brother is. They sent her to the Academy because they heard it was a safe place for kids like her, and also because her older brother went there. Her father is a Marine. Her oldest brother is in college, and her mother works in a coffee shop. Her older twin brother (by 2 minutes and 45 seconds) is overprotective of her and loves her to death. He is, however, a non-elementalist. Her earliest memory is of running through a field, holding her father's hand, and dancing in the rain that was falling on the ground. When she grows up, Amelia wants to be a writer or an architect. On rainy days, Amelia and her twin brother will stay inside and read Highfell Grimoires, which has aether in it, and will read and reread the book until the rain stops. She now lives at the Academy.
