"Oh." Joseph said dumbly as he looked between the two, before his eyes widened and he realised what they'd actually said. "Oh! Wow, seriously? That's... That's actually really crazy! And you only met today? That's just... Wow..."
He smiled as they offered to let him join them, nodding gratefully.
"Yeah, alright! I was meaning to go inside anyway. Besides, I'm always up for making new friends! Well, at least if I'm too drunk to be terrified of it... Or if I'm dying of hunger... What was I talking about?"
And then he looked up to Victor, who asked about his cardboard suit.
"Well, I wish I could say it was by choice, but it was mostly by necessity." He said with a shrug of his shoulders. "I guess I wanted to wear something nice-ish, and seeing as I only wandered into town about a week ago, I had absolutely no money. So I starting looking around the alley I'm sleeping in for the moment, and I found some boxes. I left an offering out for the pigeons, and they led me to a roll of duct tape someone must have thrown out. After that, it was all pretty easy, and it didn't even cost me any money... I just had to deal with not eating for the last two days!"
Despite talking about what in all honesty had been two fairly difficult days for him, his mood was picking up. Hell, he even thought he saw someone dressed almost like a superhero!
Or, you know, an anime character, at the very least...
And that was why he didn't even notice what was going on until Olivia was already falling.
His heart practically sank when she fell, and even in his drunken state, he knew how it could've gone if her baggy clothes hadn't softened her fall.
"Shit, Olivia!" He shouted, almost tripping in his haste to see what was wrong, and eventually settling for just kneeling next to her. "Hey, Olivia, what's wrong?!"
Shit shit shit! What should he do? What could he do? Damn it, he knew he shouldn't have drank so much tonight! Maybe he could've kept his mind clear enough to remember the stuff he'd read if he'd just kept away from the liquor!
And then he stopped panicking as he listened to Victor calling the paramedics. The clear, efficient way he explained the situation put his panicked reaction to shame. However, it also made him realise just how little panicking would help here.
He took a deep breath, before turning to the superhero/animu girl who had just said she'd try to look for a doctor.
"Hey hero-girl!" He shouted, important details kind of coming back to him. "Look for Ren White! He has white hair, and he always looks grumpy! He's studying to be a doctor!"
He wasn't sure she'd actually heard him, but he didn't have the time to follow her and make sure she heard. Instead he turned back to Olvia and grabbed her hand. He wasn't entiry sure why he did that, but he figured it could only help.
"Olivia, are you awake?" He asked, trying to sound more confident than he was. "If you're awake, try to focus on my voice! Don't fall asleep! I don't know what's happening, but people are coming who'll know what to do. Until then, keep concentrating on my hand and voice. You'll get through this, Vic and I will make sure of it!"
