@Flamelord When you say "I wish I could write" I am not sure if you mean it like "I wish I could write scenes like that better" or "I wish I had an opportunity to write scenes like that." In an attempt to seem far more humble than I actually am, I'm going to assume it's the latter.

The trick to getting scenes like that is really just communication and planning. This scene and the one at the pit stop were both ideas that I had months in advance that eventually had an opportunity to be realized. but every once in a while they can happen out of the blue, but in a combat focused RP like this one it can be hard to find an opportunity.

Outlaw pirate Amber and stern beacon girl Alicia could probably have a number of interesting conversations. And they'll have plenty of opportunities to speak during the trip to the castle once they arrive in the over city unless the GM chooses to ambush us as soon as we arrive. Also, just because characters are fighting now doesn't mean characters who hate each other can't have dialog like that. Amber and Mariette had a brutal fight, but the pit stop scene was able to happen because of it.

Little bit of both I suppose. I'm never going to wish to not write better, if only because my ego isn't that big just yet. Otherwise I suspect that I've been thinking more stuff will pop up as her character arc progresses, though with how things have been going I might just be setting myself up for failure like that.

I intentionally had extra description because, yeah, massive portal, need to give it the description it deserves so we don't mistake it for nothing special. Because Mariette can't open portals like this all willy-nilly. Hah.

Speaking of portal location, I assume you placed it nearby the place she previously was at when visiting the dimension? If so, I'll assume Amber drove through and the bastion crew has crossed over.

If you'll make me consider it, then perhaps a bit further away, if so is still safe to a reasonable degree. That particular site might have been under watch because she showed up there earlier, if perhaps someone could sense that. The site of arrival should be relatively safe, hopefully. I'm personally kind of unsure how to arrange that, but Mariette should be more experienced with the Overcity than I am. Heh.
