Konoha, the country that was always the pinnacle and crowned jewel of the Shinobi World. The first village and the most prosperous through the ages, while it may have not seemed that way, Konoha has remained steadfast in their exponential growth while retaining their global influence firm and decisive. Up until recent affairs, Konoha has been the sole superpower in the world, but with rising nations like the Land of Stone, there appears to be a rise in competition. Having been the world leader, Konoha, by no means intends to lose their conglomerate to anyone who is not worthy.
History
First Nation, Rikudo Sennin launched the world into the age of Ninja with the incorporation of Ninshu; now the history leading to the construction and ideals necessary for the first ever village has been regurgitated to excess. History is written by the victors and this tale would be no different. The two sons of Hagoromo had delved into their own devices, giving birth to two of the strongest, if not the strongest, clans to have ever existed in the ninja world, just on the cusp of ninshu integration. Eventually their bout of ideology would clash and leave the earth scorched beneath. Their passing would bore the fruit of repetition. Some spoke of fate while others spoke of stings that tethered the two to and eternal dance of faith, the necessary evil to allow good and peace to flourish.
Yet Hashirama and Madara chose to abandon the path that had been set before them, etched in stone. Rather than fall to hubris or temptation, the two allied with each other to create one prosperous village, built on the foundations of Hagoromo. None would challenge the first nation with the utility and power that was coalesced. Konohagakure was built, but no great empire is built overnight. Throughout their lifetimes the two had poured their souls into the village and left their legacies behind. The two were buried alongside each other and had their faces carved out into the mountain as the first two leaders of Konoha.
The First Great Shinobi War, The descendants of the two great pillars of Konoha had followed in the steps of their forefathers. However, there was one radical ideology that seemed to sway the remaining clansmen of both Senju and Uchiha. While Hashirama always pushed for peace and love, that ideology seemed obsolete as he was seen as a hippy. The descendants chose to uphold the writings and edicts of Madara Uchiha that catered to a more warmongering nation. Piece by piece the land of fire had begun to adorn a mantle of power. Ninja were trained to become highly trained and well versed killing machines, technology had been early, but still advanced enough to keep them promptly ahead of their opposition. Agriculture and government had been well established by the progenitors of the village. The major clans were called to arms and headed out under unified leadership into the rest of the world.
With nothing but raw strength and Kekkei Genkai well above any nation being built, Konoha conquered land as if were insignificant pests. There was little to no opposition against the crusade that Konoha unleashed upon the rest of the world. Land fell like dominoes under the concussive force that was Konoha. It seemed like there was no stopping the sovereign nation, countless villages fell and surrendered as they buckled under the weight of the land of fire. Knocking at the door of Iwagakure, the Leaf had begun its siege and potential sacking of the city known to be impenetrable stone. Within a fortnight the trajectory of Konoha’s successful siege of the infamous impregnable fortress, would soon become a myth. It wasn’t until secret talks in the background had been made between Kumogakure and iwa. An alliance had been struck with little time left. In an erratic and rare thunderstorm, the tribes of Kumogakure rode the lightning down into the forces of Konoha with the tantamount force of a thunder clap. Together stone and lighting had brought down an overwhelming force that stood to mirror the prestige the leaf ninja possessed.
Eventually the allied forces would push Konoha back forcing them to sign a peace treaty with stipulations and punishment for encroaching on the rest of the world. Something the Land of Stone would soon forget to uphold.
Intermission/Land of Bones, During the years and decades that transpired after the remnants of the first war, Konoha had adopted the original ideology of Hashirama, seeing as the edict of Madara had led them to a dynasty that was short lived. Konoha had still used integral parts of Madara’s writings within institutes such as academies and specialized covert operations such as the ANBU or root. While they devoted his teachings to the military aspect of the nation, the rest had been honored by Hashirama’s teachings. Time eroded all and with it the leaders of the leaf, as time moved on ideology shifted with it as well as power. The once proud representations of the leaf (Senju, Uchiha) had a small fall from grace as their time in the lime light had been reduced. The power they lost allowed for the other clans to stand on equal footing even if their power levels were still moderately disproportionate. Eventually Konoha would find it’s self as a Democratic Republic and global protectorate.
Being tasked with international cooperation and international order, Konoha had its first crucible with the event known as the Land of Bones. An event that was shrouded in mystery and a precarious situation that was kept under wraps even among the most elite. With such bizarre affairs taking place within their walls, Shinobi had started to blame each other for the events that took place. Short on answers and waning public opinion and support, it was time for Konoha to become the patrolling force.
The Second Great Shinobi War, Konoha unlike the first war, had no hand in igniting the second historic war. Rather, they had been constantly been trying to undermine the driving forces behind the feud. Brining up old skeletons, Konoha pushed the treaty they were forced to sign and prepositioned it to Iwa, but there was no amnesty. Sanctions would not work either and Konoha did not want to have to enter the war if they could spare it. After the failure of Konoha to procure an explanation and show to the world it was the staple global justicar, the leaf had to do something quick. Konoha quickly became the arbitrator for Kumo and its fractured tribes. Entering the war as a mediator and barrier than a military force that aided neither Iwa nor Kumo. Eventually, Iwa would recognize Konoha’s might and the annals of history from the First War and concede. The tribes could not be conquered and would quickly return to rivaling with each other once Iwa left. With a few prompts and talks, Konoha and Iwa managed to find a favorable middle ground, returning the world back to an era of peace and discovery.
The Current Leader is Kokoro Senju
Structure
Konoha has and will forever be led by one man, the Hokage, the great fire shadow. However, the nation had dismantled and dispersed the Daiymo that had once had more rule over the land than the Hokage. While the Hokage was still the chief position it was redirected and repurposed to suit the needs of the evolving world. As presented before, Konoha had adopted a government known as a Democratic Republic. It would be ruled by the people for the people, while having one man be the voice of reason and elected based on merit and aptitude for the position. While war heroes were heavily considered, not all prospective Hokages were elected based on their service to the nation. As noted, the Hokage was elected by the masses who formed other municipalities and offices that made up bigger offices and jurisdictions.
Having become such a structured nation, reared with politics, did not mean the way of the ninja was lost. Education, Military, and Agriculture were still paramount and Konoha had poured most of its resources to encourage the strict regime of keeping aptly poised ninja. Konoha’s military had been diverted into different branches that served one unified purpose, but endorsed differing purposes as independents.
Beyond these minor applications and ideology shifts, Konoha has retained its identity just as it appeared when it was first erected. While the other four nations had undergone major facial and inner rehabilitation and change, Konoha remains as plain and boring as vanilla can get.
Foreign Relations
Land of Lighting: A double sided coin in the history of the Land of Fire. Heads dictated a powerful unified country poised to rise to power faster than any other nation and challenge konoha. Tails, a country suffering a schism of ideology and power leading to a shell of what the nation once was. A docile wild dog that no longer bit the hand of the owner. Konoha has steadily pumped supplies into the nation in hopes that the Cloud would soon rise and soar over the rest once more.
Land of Water: Only associates by proximity, there’s not much to say about the two nation’s relationship as it barely qualifies as one. The two have a celebrated past of tension and disapproval that has managed to survived the ages. Had Konoha not been a global leader and remain standing after a small blow after the First War, Kiri might have seized the opportunity to strike and siphon the villages wealth. For now they remain bitter neighbors who make idle chit chat when checking the mail on Monday morning.
Land of Stone: A respected superpower in the world of now, a silent agreement and bow of respect has been built between the two. There is too much history for them to not have grown some type of rapport. The bond between the two is along the lines of mutually assured destruction, however the thought of unification with Kumo dissuades any thought of war. While the Emperor’s legions make shallow threats the actual relationship remains healthy and intact.
Land of Wind: Perhaps the Nation’s greatest and most treasured ally. Konoha had acted as a nurturing father, allowing the Wind to grow and stand on its own two feet. A harsh wilderness devoid of natural resources and favorable environment. Konoha pumped supplies and resources that allowed the Desert to flourish and become a beacon of technology and scholars. The two have an intimate relationship that has extended into exchange programs and trade.
