• Pious- Victor is a devout Christian man, bordering zealot, who believes he is doing God's work in being a part of the Order and ridding the world of these infestations of evil.
• Scars- Deep scar on the right hand side of his face has rendered his right eye partially blind. His face mask is to cover his mouth from swallowing anything unwanted, as well as hide acid burns.
• Duellist- Using his sabre, Victor learnt how to properly defend himself in a fight. It was made even more important due to the part of England he grew up in. One wrong look could end up in a rather vicious scrap. Even a holy man has to protect himself and his church.

• Father ran the local church, it was only a matter of time before Victor would join him.
• Father dies in mugging, Victor takes over at a young age of 17.
• Two years later, Victor was told of groaning near the church. No one would go near.
• Found a group of flesh-eating monsters, later discovered they were Ghouls, one of which resembled his Father.
• Mother entered a state of shock from seeing her husband and died from heart attack.

• Mountain-man: Jack N Breaux is a mountain-man; he knows what is necessary to survive in the cruel world of nature and as such has picked up knowledge about various flora and fauna in the regions of Louisiana and areas near the Rocky Mountains. He knows how to skin and prepare animals for consumption and sale, how to fish, forage, etc.
• Militia-man: From his previous experiences, Jack N Breaux learned how to front on the front lines whether by gun, bayonet or by fist. It also disciplined him into completing orders even under times of stress. And of course, even though he hadn't done it in awhile, Jack can play a mean drum still.

• Attacked by a Rougarou but managed to survive
• Immediately decided that due to this Louisiana was a horrible place and headed towards the Rockies to make a new fortune
• Joined the Bouclier Dans Les Tenebres, after being contacted by a member of the order who had heard of the experience that Jack went through in Louisiana and offered membership and help, much like "Company Men" would receive in dealing in the wilderness. Jack easily accepted as he always took to brotherhoods like these.

gleaned from contact with The Yellow King.

  I’m the only one left… and I don’t know why [+]

  31st of October in the year 1820,
  I still can’t seem to come to terms with what happened two weeks ago after what any family would consider a normal dinner. The day had started like any other, I was helping father in the shop with a custom rifle order someone had requested as a gift for their soon to be of age son. My eldest brothers have long since moved out of our home and left to do other practices, not wanting to take up the gunsmithing mantel that our family has held for generations upon generations. Never mind that however, as that is not what I am meant to write about. People wish to know what happened, yet I cannot speak it without fear of reliving that horrible night and reverting back to the ‘hysterics’ the rude doctor told me I had been in. I would like to tell you what time it was when I was awoken by the earth shattering screech of my sister Elaina, but the Grandfather clock we had on the landing seemed stuck at such an odd time; 3:33 in the early morning. Thinking someone had broken into our home I rushed out of the room I shared with Anabel, the youngest of my sisters at the young age of 4. So small… so innocent… unaware of the fate that would be meeting her as I took her in my arms to bring her down the steps where I thought I heard my father’s voice. My parent’s room was on the first floor of our home, tucked near father’s workshop so he would not have far to go if he worked late into the night as he often did. As I stepped into our sitting room I nearly slipped on a wet floor, odd considering the floor was dry before we went to bed and Mother was not known for cleaning so late into the sleeping hours. Turning the corner into the main room what I saw there froze me in fear, my mother, splayed out like the dolls Anabel enjoyed playing with; her nightgown torn at the abdomen where my father worked diligently on removing what organs rested there. Beside my mother was her innermost woman part, the thing that was my father but most certainly could not be was circling the bloody organ with my Mother’s intestins, stopping at the third circling.
  
  I still could not understand what was happening, neither could my Sister Elaina who was standing at the entrance of her own first floor room, hands over her mouth. Unlike me however, she was able to compose herself enough to try to run away. The sound of her footsteps snapped my father’s head up and directed his attention to the mother to be. My sister was only staying with us because her Husband was away on a business trip and she wished to visit us as she was so close to giving birth. He pounced like a Lion that stalked it’s prey and was ready to feed, his night clothes covered in my mother’s blood, how could I not hear her screams before Elaina’s?
  
  Before I had a chance to act, to even say anything or hush the crying child in my arms my father plunged the kitchen knife into my Eldest Sisters back. What I saw next was the very process of what he had done to my mother, his rough gunsmith hands lacking the fine cut of a surgeon. I screamed, I couldn’t help it, the sound tore from my throat like a Banshee’s howl in the night as I watched my father but not my father slice into my sister’s belly and pull out the baby that had been growing within while she still lived. He studied the child for a moment before setting it down, the child twitching yet lungs still full of fluid as it still remained in the uterus. Until that monster cut it out and sliced the chest wide open. How was I still watching this, I do not know, I still do not know how I could stand there and watch him snap the ribcage wide open, each tiny rib pulled apart at intervals of three so they were splayed yet still attached at oddly increasing heights of three. How was i able to watch him then circle the baby still in the nest that was my sisters uterus three times? How was I able to watch him do the same to my 16 year old brother who raced down the steps, now splayed before me with his ribs much like the baby who never had a chance to live? How was I able to withstand watching him kill little Anabel in my arms and pull out her own tiny organ that would never know the growth of a child at my feet?
  
  How… how in this godless world was I then able to watch him sheer off his ears from left to right with a flap of skin following revealing his skull? How was I able to watch him slash across his eyes so he knew darkness and how was I able to keep my stomach when He pulled the dulled blade down from the top of the bridge that begun his nose and skinned both nose and mouth away from his face before simply staring at me with sightless eyes? How was it only then, covered in my little sister’s blood, was I untouched before the world around me went dark and my mind replayed 3:33, ribs elevated in 3s at small 3 intervals, a uterus ringed 3 times by intestins, a face skinned in 3 motions with a jaw still working but saying nothing, before I finally lost sight in the world only to wake up surrounded by white? I don’t know. I have no answers to any of these question, I only know that something possessed my father that night to kill all but me.
• It wasn’t only my immediate family, it was everyone in my bloodline, the exact same way by the oldest male in the house in the same exact room… but me.

Eldritch Encounters: He "obtained" a book titled "On My Travels To Yuggoth", written by an unknown author. Made the terrible mistake of reading it.

Traits:
- Tainted eldritch knowledge: Kenneth has been "granted" knowledge of the distant, alien world of Yuggoth (a world which, in a hundred years, would be known to astronomers as Pluto). He's mostly buried it, because thinking about it for too long makes his brain hurt.
- Alcoholic: it's his way of escaping the above. Being at least modestly drunk helps him beat back the knowledge of Yuggoth and its strange inhabitants. The longer he's sober and left alone with his thoughts, the more that bubbles to the surface.
- Criminal connections: all of Kenneth's business took place in the isles, but that doesn't mean he's totally blind in continental Europe. Maybe he doesn't have connections, but given some time, he can find out what rocks he has to look under to find a city's upstanding criminal elements.
- The abyss stares back: sometimes, knowledge is a two-way street. The more Kenneth uncovers about Yuggoth, the more that Yuggoth might learn about him...
- Sleep is for the weak: ever since he read "On My Travels To Yuggoth", Kenneth finds himself in that strange place in his dreams. The experience is so vivid that he's never sure if he's actually asleep or not. He does his best to go as long as he can without sleeping to avoid it.

Order: Yes, but he's not happy about it.

Background:
- Pawn shop owner, fence, and all-around black market dealer centered in Glasgow
- One day, he obtained a book titled "On My Travels To Yuggoth", which had been stolen from the home of a prominent would-be wizard and cult leader.
- He read it and that was an awful, awful mistake.
- While Kenneth was still reeling from the knowledge branded into his mind (an unpleasant experience), the cult attacked his pawn shop to get the book back, because when you're a member of the Brotherhood Of Distant Shores, you don't 'pay' for things.
- And then, in swoops the Bouclier Dans Les Tenebres to save the day. They'd been watching the Brotherhood, and took advantage of their attack on the pawn shop to take a whack at them. The Brotherhood took some losses and escaped, and Kenneth was pulled out of his burning shop, babbling in tongues not native to our sweet Mother Earth. Thankfully, the book didn't escape the fires.
- The Order operatives took Kenneth in, recognizing the knowledge he had, and decided that it made him a potentially valuable asset to the Order. He was given a choice, but since the choice was "join us or we'll shoot you in the gorram head", it wasn't much of one.

Personality: Before the book, Kenneth was a friendly, jovial man, the sort of guy that nobody could find a reason to hate. It was part of what made him a good fence; everybody KNEW he was involved in shady dealings, but he was just such a nice guy that nobody could fault him for it.

That was before that damned book. Now, Kenneth is a dark and bitter shell of his former self. He's lost his home, his place of business, his entire life, and now he's the semi-unwilling agent of the Order, fighting against the very things that he turned to drink to avoid.

Still, sometimes that old Kenneth will rise to the surface, like the sun peeking out from behind a stormcloud.
