@Kuroyomihime

Hey think I fixed everything with my character sheet you wanted me to. It's the last post on the fourth page.

Your character is better now, however, there's still a small misunderstanding.

Stealth isn't a weapon/combat skill. You can't begin with it maxed for free. You just need to fix those skill points and she'll be good to go.

Would it be feasible/legal for mercenary groups to exist? I'm considering making my character a sort of merc for a group. For instance, they could have him complete a mission/collect loot, deliver the rewards to them, and receive a payment or commission.

That's certainly not impossible, but I don't see why anyone would do that. In a game that's not advantageous from the point of view of neither side. You can do that but probably no one will ever hire such services.

A way I see that it could work is that a client that wants a certain loot from a dungeon or mission is ill-fitted for it, would rather not risk it themselves or is simply preoccupied to do so hires this group of mercenaries. The negotiate on a first payment that could be either currency or items, and then on the rest of the loot of the dungeon, of which a large percentage goes to the mercenary group.

On the same vein, such mercenary groups could be hired for more malicious purposes, like taking out a certain player.

Mercenaries? Isn't this a video game? Unless mercenaries are part of player guilds or something.

The first may work, but I still think that most players wouldn't bother to do that. They can always search for the same loot in the Black Market and it'll certainly come out cheaper than an on-demand service.

The second just doesn't make sense in a game where you can respawn after being killed and keep playing again at little to no penalty whatsoever. Unless you live on China and think that hiring digital hitmen is a wise way to get your son/daughter out of the game.

Sorry about that now it's fixed. Would have fixed it in the beginning if you had mentioned it on the list of things to fix. I also thought stealth counted as combat skill. So how exactly does stealth work? From your recent posts I gather it helps you go detected until you fire at someone. Also I have a question if this is how it works then does higher stealth make you go undetected again sooner? Also what are benefits of high stealth besides being able to sneak up on someone for lets say a sneak attack?

You had different, albeit also wrong, skills the last time I reviewed your character: https://www.roleplayerguild.com/posts/4712471

Please, pay attention before saying that people didn't do or say something.

You didn't need to add that line to your reply. Furthermore, the kind of skills that are able to be maxed for free were specified in the Opening Posts, you missed that twice, before pointing fingers at me for not being clear enough. Pay more attention in the future.

Anyway, Stealth is the skill to hide and move silently, it's not camouflage (that's what camouflaged clothes and active camouflage are for). It has nothing to do with sneak attacks as well, just the ability to know how to position yourself out of others' sight and move silently in efficient ways.

A rock that you are hiding behind won't disappear after you attack, it's Abilities and items that grant bonuses beyond that which cease to work after you attack.

My mistake I'm very sorry I wasn't trying to be rude. I just have a lot on my plate with my university retakes at the moment it was an honest mistake. Plus I have to arrange stuff for a hospital visit on Monday so yeah I'm bit scatter brain at moment. Also I had multiple character sheets and one had maxed stealth so that's why I thought it was that way already. Honestly just me being absent minded due to real life stuff. Again can't say enough how sorry I am I should have double checked. Even then it's no excuse and I feel really bad about it and I'm sorry.

[New applications on temporary hold up]

Aww. I'll keep this subbed.

Question: how 'gamey' do you expect posts in the IC to be? By that, I mean is it necessary to reference specific abilities/skills/in-game mechanics verbatim, or is it cool just to stick to free-form as normal?

That depends on each player. However, a post that veers too far into mechanics talk will probably feel pretty boring to read. That's the most I can say on this issue.

Well, I was considering that extreme environments such as rain and freezing cold, or desert heat would also drain stamina.
-As would holding a pair of 20 pound firearms at-ready for prolonged periods.
-I was under the impression that she'd be detected if she fired under almost any circumstance, considering her loadout.
-The main point was she couldn't activate it while people are looking at her. [Mystery-Men: Mr. Invisible]

So those are agreeable.

-re-words weapon skills for machine-guns and grenade-launchers

-Working on sample-post (setting up an ambush in an alleyway), just as soon as I finished getting packed... kinda have ideas for remote-placed grenade launchers involving a slip-hitch and some rubber-bands...

Edit: sample post up. Usually my posts span 15 to 30 seconds of action each, the sample had to cover an entire 5 minute firefight.
~It is remarkable how much could happen in as little as fifteen seconds.

Gun Burst is a science fiction shooter, not a war simulator. Realism can only go so far until it begins to compromise the fun of the general public and thus the profit you can make from it.

At any rate, your character is ok as well, now. You can place her on the Character's tab.

I see. On that note, how would guilds/clans be organized? Is it strictly limited to teams? I'd like to know because I imagine there'd be some sort of mega-group that trains/hires/fights en masse, using scale to its advantage.

The IC is officially up, everyone!

I'll give you a couple more days to decide who will be in which team. After that, I'll pair everyone that's left.

Any players of completed teams are allowed to begin posting as soon as they are able.

They aren't that much different than guilds of most games. Guild halls, guild banks, they make it easier to find people to play with, etc...

As I said before, anyone who wants Reina to be on their team, just say so. Otherwise I'm open with whomever.

Well, we can have up to four players per team, so we could look for a fourth.

@Kuroyomihime What did you imagine the general feel/pace/gunplay of the game to be like? Is it a rapid-pace shooter like Call of Duty or Titanfall, more deliberate and ponderous in the style of ARMA III, or something in-between?

I think something like this? If I'm remembering right, this RP was based on the latest SAO.

I suppose it would vary at times. Take it slow when out of combat or setting up an ambush, rapid-paced when in an active firefight.

I feel like it can be both. It all depends on how you play.
