Name: Valerie "Noir" Herzstein
Age (Chronological): 17
Age (At time of Death): 13
Gender: Female
Gender (Before Magical Girl): Female
Appearance:

Specialization:
-
Darkness: Reigning over the realm of shadows, weaving in and out of darkened corners with unnerving speed, and literally blending into the darkness. Noir's mastery over the dark makes her a fearsome huntress of the night. Additionally, she possesses an array of curses and hexes, all ultimately serving a single purpose, weaken her preys enough so she may devour them. The strong, the weak, the young, the old, no life last forever. Slow and steady, she patiently stalks her prey, or overwhelm them with a torrent of shadows, either works for her. As long as she can consume to satisfy Mistress Hazak's hunger.
Conveniently, even in her human form, she is able to see in complete darkness.
-
Effluvium (Oddball): Noir's darkness isn't the mere absence of light. It is tangible, physical, a creeping taint that drains the life and energy of everything it touches. Once deployed around the vicinity, the taint actively works to spread and consume akin to hordes of locusts, also conveniently providing Noir with shadows to use. They are her drones and she is the Queen, she let them consume and they nourish her in return.
Conveniently, even in her untransformed state, this odd specialization enables her to consume any organic matter via physical contact.
Weakness:
-
Light:
Hiss! The light, the blinding searing light. The bane of all nocturnal hunters. She never liked bright lights, not as Valerie, and certainly not as Noir. May doom fall upon anyone who wields this accursed thing, from flashlight-wielding security guards to the self-righteous so-called Beacons.
Unfortunately, even in her human form, Noir suffers from hypersensitivity to intense light... which might not even be intense to the average human.
-
Metal: Ah yes, iron and steel, hunk of lifeless matter. Utterly useless for her, they can't be drained, nor consumed. Even worse, both her curses and effluvium are powerless against them, she has to rely on her brute strength and wiles to overcome beings of metal.
This weakness extends its effect to her human form, Noir has allergic skin reactions upon prolonged physical contact with objects made of metal.
Weapon:
-
Fangs and Claw (Fist-type): Unlike the insecure fools who feel the need to use pieces of sharp of metal as weapons, Noir simply make use of her own body. Her fangs and claws are sharp enough to match blades toe-to-toe, durable enough to dent plate armor, and even if they break, a simple matter, they'd regrow within seconds.
Power:
-
Regeneration: Being the Harbinger of Hazak has its many benefits, most notable one is an endlessly mending body. Noir heals and recovers mana at the speed in which few beings can match. She can live through almost any injury, short of complete annihilation in a single blow. Should one of her limbs be severed, she can simply reattach them or grow a new one entirely. Lesser wounds even heal as they are being inflicted. A relentless huntress, she will get her prey, even if it literally costs her an arm and a leg.
Mutations:
-
Body - Wings: A pair of Chiropteran arcane wings can sprout from her back at will, granting her the gift of flight and levitation. Simple but versatile power.
-
Mental - Devourer: Consume, feed, and devour, these are the noble tasks her Mistress has given her. Whoever it is, Mistress doesn't care, she's free to pick her preys but pick them fast. Noir has the instinctive need to drain the life and/or energy of living beings, whether they be physical or magical. Of course, hostile entities and 'bad' people are
very convenient targets.
-
Soul - Powerful Aura: When she chooses to reveal herself, her presence is overwhelming. Hazak's Otherworldly nature can be felt bleeding from Noir's deceptively petite stature. As her Darkness spreads, those who stand against her can sense their doom creeping upon them as they futilely try to find the huntress. Inversely, allies of Noir can feel safe and protected in her territory, for the huntress' Effluvium are not hunting them that day.
-
Soul - Weakness: Light and Metal, both are anti-thesis to everything her Patron stands for. As explained before, light significantly weakens her and most of her powers are useless against metal.
Perks:
-
Blood Magic: A misnomer of a perk, really, but partially true nonetheless. Noir's health and mana are one, she consumes and use both life force and magical energy. The Harbinger makes no distinction between the two.
-
Tooth and Claw: Her mistress has given Noir powerful limbs, enabling her to use her own body as a weapon.
-
Immortality: It takes a lot to kill the Harbinger. One must be able to damage her constantly enough to outperform her regeneration, disable it somehow, or overwhelm her with a single powerful blow to down her for good. Else, she will just renegerate and drain her opponent of their life and mana as the fight drags on.
-
Parasite: She hunts, she feeds, she consumes. Any organic matter and magical energies are fine offerings to the All-Consuming Mistress of Decay. Feeding in combat enhances her already impressive regeneration ability even further.
-
Sapper: Face the Harbinger with magic and she too shall consume your mana. Yes, give everything you have, and once you are exhausted of your precious mana, she will consume your body as well.
---
Patron: Hazak Kys, The All-Consuming Mistress of Decay
Patron Benefits:
-
Magical Overload: Yanked from the jaws of death just as Valerie breathed her last. her dying body was fed with so much of Hazak's essence, she violently burst. It was only by the regenerative power of her Patron that she survived, torn apart to be stitched back together, as something new, as Noir.
-
Marked: Being the Harbinger of Decay - a huntress with the hunger to consume any living being, physical or magical - triggers the instinctive fear even in monsters. With the exception of the most powerful and/or savage, monsters are terrified by her mere presence. This combined with her Powerful Aura mutation enables her to rout out lesser foes before the fight even begins.
-
Reasonable: The Mistress is patient, she's aware that the best meals are those prepared and savored properly. What is the point of consuming everything that her preys have no chance to breed? A proper hunter know where and when to hunt.
-
Creeping Doom: The Effluvium, Hazak's taint, can creep gradually as it can overwhelm. The Mistress of Decay prefers the best harvest and that can't be obtained by blindly sweeping through a village, killing every man, woman, and children. Nay, the best harvests are the ones with select, fulfilling, preys.
-
Retrieval: Noir has proven to be a valuable agent, a reliable huntress, and a loyal servant. She enjoys her job and The Mistress enjoys her offerings. Why should Hazak allow her to perish needlessly? When possible, the Mistress of Decay herself will step in and shift Noir out of mortal danger.
Patron Drawbacks:
-
Monstrous Form: Noir's awakening permanently changed her. She is now the Harbinger of Decay, Mistress Hazak's right hand, carrying the scythe to harvest these succulent preys. The uncultured may see her as a 'vampire', but she doesn't mind, the less preys know about their predator, the better for the latter.
-
Bane: If the accursed Light and lifeless Metal weaken Noir, the combination of the two is her Bane. A weapon such as a Sword of Light, shining metal, will be very effective against her. Her darkness and effluvium shredded away, her form exposed, and protection useless against the combined power.
-
Health-Sapping: The Mistress hungers and Noir can
feel her hunger.
-
Mana Starved: The Mistress thirsts and her Harbinger thirsts as well.
--
Fighting Style: Best described as nocturnal predator combined with a mighty glacier, Noir is patient and enduring. Coating her general vicinity in Effluvium will be her action in a general combat situation, transforming the area into her home turf, no matter where she fights. Durable and regenerative, what she lacks in sheer brute strength and speed are made up with the taint, curses, and fearsome aura. The longer the fight goes on, the better for her as sooner or later, her opponent will run out of stamina, mana, and resources. When they are weakened and ripe, she will devour them, another fine offering to her Patron.

Personality: Cheerful, bubbly, and free-spirited. Valerie was blessed with unyielding optimism, yet cursed with a sickly body. After succumbing to her sickness and following her 'resurrection' as Noir, the latter part of her condition is all but gone. Now granted a form more powerful than a young teenager could ever imagine, Noir is more than happy to travel the world, see all the new things, and of course, serve her Mistress' purposes. Besides, some people clearly don't appreciate their healthy body, she won't mind devouring them... and not to mention, they taste
delicious. Fufufu~ <3
History: Valerie Herzstein, youngest daughter of the wealthy Herzstein family, was born a sickly infant. It was clear she didn't get a good roll in the Fortune Wheel of Eugenics. Unhealthily pale skin that burned in sunlight, weak composition, and chronic anemia all but confined her in her family's manor for all of her life. Constantly needing blood transfusions to replace what she lacks, her condition was sometimes joked upon by her siblings, that she's a vampire, only without all the powers.
Everything she knew about the outside world mostly came from the various medias she consumed, the internet, television, books. Really, it was such a shame that the girl was such a bundle of joy, making the best use of what her flawed body could do. Her time on Earth was limited, to no one's surprise and her family's denial.
It was only at a tender age of thirteen winters when her body suddenly gave up on her. Rushed to the best hospital in her home country of Germany, treated with the best Doctors and services money could buy, even with all those, it still wasn't enough. She was fated to die... and her time was up. Nothing could prevent this...
...except for the power of an otherworldly being, one powerful enough to cross dimensions and gave a proverbial middle finger to time and space. Hazak Kys, the All-Consuming Mistress of Decay, saw a glint in the young blonde's dying eyes. She didn't want to die, she wished to live on, a desire so strong, it curled a smirk in the Outer Goddess' face.
In the middle of the night, the two met for the first time. The Mistress asked if she'd like another chance at life... and if she was willing to kill for it. Then, just as her heart monitor flatlined, a monster was born. Valerie Herzstein was no more, there was only Noir, the Harbinger of Decay.
Incantation:
"Hazak. Aspida. Effluvium. Vale. Consume and Devour!"Additional Info:
