It seemed like Theo was the only one who held the view that they should strike quickly - he wasn't too surprised, in the end, and he didn't even really want to pursue the plan that he suggested. He merely did so because that was the course of action that Dirk would have taken in the same situation. Theo himself wasn't even sure if they should confront Valentine and his gang - just reporting him to the other guilds and having them take care of it would be easier. It wasn't like Theo knew enough about Karma to risk his life to avenge the man.

The stranger who spoke offered an opinion that Theo felt was mirrored by Dubstepp's proposal - simply gathering information and striking later. The strategy struck Theo with a brief moment of clarity, a plan immediately coming to mind. He'd contact Data Link 66 before the guild left for the dungeon, giving them time to inform every player who subscribed to their newsletter. That would alert all major guilds, and they would almost certainly get their members to apprehend him. Aramo was already going to be informed by Reylan, but having the most influential news guild telling everyone about the threat that Valentine posed was essentially a game over for the man. It didn't matter how cruel or powerful he was, if the majority of players were told about him and his class, he would be countered easily.

Valentine would almost certainly be caught in the coming days, and Theo hoped it wasn't the Wolves who'd catch him. Theo needed to minimize the danger the guild put themselves in, both for their protection and, more importantly, his own. He was the Tank, and suffered the brunt of damage in any conflict. Limiting that was essential to surviving the game, and Theo didn't want to risk fighting actual human players. They were too smart.

Xenos had a few choice words for the stranger, but Theo wasn't shocked out of his thoughts by the tone of his message. Instead, he was shocked when he heard his proposal of skill point distribution - He luckily didn't glare at the man when he suggested it. It would be detrimental to Theo's persona if he was forced to reveal the massive amount of points he had dumped into his acting skill - the others would think he had something to hide, and he'd lose trust, lose the image he had built around himself so carefully.

"I agree Xenos - I'm not sure about any of you, but I've mostly put my points into my sword skill and shield wielding. Do any of us have cooking? And Botany or Fishing might be useful to lower the costs of such an expedition, since we could harvest some food from the surroundings."

Going against the suggestion was stupid if looked at from their point of view - Xenos was right that they needed to put their skills into useful things. However, if he didn't show any resistance, than their might not be a need to reveal his point distribution.

And, if he needed to, he was more than capable of lying about it.

The rustling of the leaves caused by gentle night winds was pleasant to hear. Valentine brushed his fingers across his silver hair, enjoying the sweet cooling sensations across his face. They weren't far from the city at the moment, as he could see its bright yellow lights in some distance. It was another beautiful night, the distance city lights competing with the bejeweled night sky. Behind him were 3 other figures, a Rogue, a Mage and a Swordsman.



"Shame the festival ended at midnight." Psych was the Rogue, armed with several exotic weapons and a thick shortsword. As far as Valentine could tell, he was the most "normal" one of the group, although that wasn't a fair comparision. "I like free stuff. Especially coins. There were too many sillies who decided to get drunk before they spent all their Renn." Psych had been pick-pocketing players all night, making nice profit through his Rogue Class abilities. Not that he was the type to share his wealth with rest of the group that called themselves "Destiny of Life is Death".

To be fair, Valentine didn't mind. The 4 weren't together through friendship or honor and he had a plan to kill every single one of them should he need to. And he was certain that the other 3 had similar plans of their own.



"......" The pale Swordsman silently stared at the fat bag of coins on Vincent's hips. It was impossible to tell what she was thinking, although most would be able to take a gander that it wasn't anything pleasant at any time. The pair of red, expressionless eyes coupled with a chalk-pale skin made her look... sickly. Valentine had already figured out that she was an albino. Thankfully for her, in this VR world her real-life conditions didn't apply, as she was able to walk around in full sunlight with no protections. As if to emphasize her physical appearance, she was wearing a pair of decorative bunny ears, making her look like a humanoid white rabbit. Even though Valentine wasn't quite into furries, he had to admit it was pretty cute. But her cute costume wasn't quite enough to mask her creepy, unnatural aura. The eternally blank face with a pair of soulless eyes that never seemed to blink.



"Hey hey~ Mr. ImSoEdge" Vincent called out to Valentine with a rude nickname. He let it slide, as he wasn't the type to get offended by something so trivial. "So when are we going to get more cute girls in the group~? Rain is cute and all but..." It was obvious to Valentine that Vincent would never break his eternally entertained facade, for he was the type to create his own entertainment if none existed. Vincent leaned in a little closer and pretended to whisper, although the volume was loud enough to obviously reach everyone. "I don't think she likes me." Vincent giggled as he saw the slightest little flinch from Rain in the corner of his eyes.

"Keep moving. We'll find more... to join us soon." Valentine shut down Vincent's attempt to start... something, whatever it was. He could hear a small but distinctively murderous mutter saying something along the lines of how those who doesn't like fun should be ripped. Valentine faintly smiled as he returned the hostile aura with his own. Vincent had his uses and they were cooperating... for now. But Valentine swore to himself that before the game was done he would see Vincent dead before his feet.

The Savage Fields, true to its name, seems like a series of gentle hills and plains, very open and spacious. The entrance to the dungeon is marked out by a holographic light display that seemed to have no physical form but is instinctively visible to all players. You can't go beyond the boundaries without first accepting to enter the dungeon. The surrounding area seems to be relatively safe, as only low level critters occupy the the area.

The march from the city took only half a day as The Savage Fields was close to Genesis City and had no real terrain obstacles. Everyone arrives without fatiguing too much, all fresh and ready for some combat.

Breakfast, a shower, and donning his armor were the beginning of the day, as usual with Theo. With a quick farewell to Hans and Julia, Theo joined up with his guild mates in the march to the dungeon.

The trip itself was easy, albeit tedious and tense. The group fought no monsters, and Theo chose not to adopt his Dirk eccentrics until they made it to the dungeon - it would be to easy for them to snap at him with nothing to do but walk. By the time they had made it to the dungeon, the sun was halfway across the sky, and Theo was already munching on one of his dried fruit, bringing him down to seven in all. The sight of the translucent invisible wall filled Theo with a new jolt of energy that wasn't present during the march as his acting skill briefly flooded him with cues and lines of dialogue.

"Beware, foul beasts who reside within - Dirk Davidson and the Legendary Legion of the Wolves have come for your hides!"

Slight bag hung underneath Reylan's eyes as they arrived, making his normally vibrant silver eyes just a shade dimmer. It was not that he was in the throw of depression, rather it was his new motivation that had him like this. He had spent the past two nights after Karma's death preparing various strategies and running scenarios where their skills could be combined for greater effect. He was now pushing himself too hard but refused to stop. He needed to get stronger to stop Valentine and protect those in the guild. As the group stood at the entrance, still full of energy, he couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie he never had before. Everyone here, even the two not in the guild, were here to fight together to become stronger. A circus of personalities to be sure, but a group he was proud to lead.

Dirk spoke first and his words put a little smile on Reylan's face. He wasn't sure if they were 'legendary' just yet. No matter how ridiculous some of stuff Dirk said, it often got the guild-master in the feel of the game. He decided to address the guild and its two associates one last time before entering the dungeon "Dirk is exactly right. We have come to this dungeon to farm monsters for XP. I have for each of you one greater red potion, one greater blue potion, five salted meats, five bunches of dried fruit, and two drinks of water for each day we are out here. The potions are for emergencies only." It wasn't much but it was he could do with their guild funds without going broke. He hoped that having those potions on hand would prevent any unnecessary tragedies.

"Now, first let's make sure we are all in the same party." He opened his menu to go through his party list and sent an invite to any who hadn't accepted prior. After that was said an done, his muscles tightened as he spoke once more "This dungeon should be around the same level as the one we have already beaten but still, stay on your toes. We are going to be hitting this dungeon a lot in the next few days so there is no need to rush and be reckless." He appeared to be a lot more sure of himself than the archer in that first dungeon raid.

He turned to the invisible field and faced it directly "Now, let's get stronger and show everyone that the Legion of the Wolf is not to be messed with!" His voice called out as he passed through the barrier, initiating the dungeon for the entire party. Whatever was waiting for them, he would be sure to crush it.

Xenos grumbled as they marched towards the dungeon. After having a short chat with Reylan about how much ammo he should bring since he couldn’t seem to remember how much he used before, Xenos hoped around 100 shots would be enough. He had to take out an 800 renn loan as it was since this guild’s vengeance fed desperation didn't allow those who used consumables to cut costs and just make their shit. Hopefully, he’d make enough in this dungeon to repay the loan since, if this Guild’s attitude was anything to go by, he probably wouldn’t have time to start circulating his grenade launcher orake a few other things he was interested in.

Xenos nodded as Reylan spoke and followed the man into the dungeon. He cleared his head, tucking the slight irritation he felt at the situation in the back of his mind. He’d figure out a way to convince them to slow the fuck down eventually.

The following day River walked in silence as they trecked on towards the dungeon. His hands began to fidget with his wand, tapping it against his leg occasionally. His emerald eyes looked down at the green grass as they made their way to the Savage Fields. The name alone worried River as he quickly began to feel anxious towards being the guilds sole healer. Once they arrived there Reylan gave his speech and handed everyone some rations of food for the next few days. "Alright, I have Botany and gathering skills as well, so...if need be I can forage for more food I just cant cook any so it'll mainly be berries and the like."

Just from the first look, its apparent that the "Savage Fields" dungeon layout is very different from the others you may have encountered. Before entering, you see a series of gentle rolling hills before you but after entering, you are immediately teleported into a wide and spacious, but closed off, area. You look around you, you don't see much other than a set of bushes and trees marking the edges of your current location. Perhaps a thin dirt trail that leads to what looks like a ruin of stone and wood.

As if the game decides that you've had enough time to observe and take in your surroundings, Monsters spawn near your locations. 5 in total. The Hill Boar variants you've seen very often just outside of Genesis were at least normal-ish sized animals but the Savage Boars are much bigger... and savage. They bare their tusks at you while making displeased grunts. It's clear that they are hostile.

Reylan was at the front of the group already stepping with his bow firmly in his his hands, while his rapier was close by on his hips. A loose arrow was held ready to be knocked and fired at the first sign of an enemy. Despite this being their third time entering a dungeon, the hairs on the back of his neck seemed to stick out. At the same time, it was a kind of comfort knowing that their only worry were the mobs and traps in this dungeon. Everything else could be cast aside with ease.

The sudden change in scenery was jarring but Reylan pushed forward, his keen eyes searching for anything out of the ordinary. He halted upon seeing the five boars appear, their size dwarfed their cousins outside Genesis City. However they did not intimidate him in the slightest. Together the Legion of the Wolf had taken down a dungeon boss far more scary than these things. He knew as long as they played their cards right, they could handle this first encounter with relative ease. It was time to get back to playing the game.

The muscles in Reylan's throat first relaxed then tightened, as his lungs took in a deep breath "Aster and Dirk, take Boars 2, 3, and 4 in the center. Take the hits with your shield Dirk and switch with Aster for an attack! Chari attack Boar 5 on the right and Shiba, attack Boar 1 on the left! Try to get Totaro behind them Dub!" The first step in his strategies was to establish a quick front-line, but they were now lacking the personnel to ideally match one to one. However, they could rain death upon their targets with their amount of ranged fighters. It meant that the melee fighters served basically as a distraction.

Before giving any more orders, Reylan took his almost ceremonial first shot at the Boar directly in the middle "Xenos and River, support Shiba on the left. Uchaka and Alisea, hit the center group and get them to clump together! Steven, you and I will assist Chari on the right! Everyone keep your mana usage low!" His voice carried well through the air, the resolve he found yesterday still rang true within him. There was no Valentine to haunt him here. It was just the Legion and the monsters in front of him, and that he could deal with. It felt good to be back in the thick of it.

He had no idea how Alisea managed to talk him into letting Kyo tag along. Of course the pleading eyes from Kyo did not help in the slightest. Kyo was an NPC and not a player so he didn't know what could be gained from her join the party "Kyo, you just stay back and watch us. Alright?" His tone was stern as to make her understand how dangerous this was. An adventurer just like us....was it even possible?. Reylan didn't want to see how Kyo would react when she learned she couldn't do more than her programming. She would know too, because she had learned a few mechanics of the game from the guild. It seemed she was already an enigma in the NPCs they have met so far.

Kyo nodded sweetly, holding a basic short-sword and starting vest like most of the new players had a week ago. The incitement in her eyes was clearly visible in comparison to her hardly expressive face. Reylan figured it must be similar to telling a kid they are going to be a super hero. He wondered if having Kyo along with them would make everyone fight even harder. If they failed to defeat these monsters, they might go after Kyo. At the very least Reylan would not allow that to happen. Kyo was a wolf just like the rest of them, and he would not allow another one to be taken from their pack.

Was what she had said, but Alisea hadn’t expected the Dungeon to teleport them into it. Now there wasn’t an escape route at their backs. They couldn’t send Kyo back if it was dangerous; now keeping her safe was the only option. ‘Papa’ seemed determined on that, as well. That brought a large smile to Alisea’s face.

“Heeeh. Restricting mana sounds so dull. But I suppose this will be a long day, and even more boring if I run out halfway.” So saying, Alisea hopped ahead of Dirk to keep him out of the range of attack and unleashed a Shadow Raze centered on the central boar, letting its area of effect spread out toward the others. Then she stepped back, casting a Chakra Magic on herself as the melee fighters ran past her.

"Now we get to watch the fighters work hard," Alisea told Kyo with a smile. Keeping her safe was most important. But. If there was the chance to do so safely, she would let Kyo use that sword.

At Reylans command River quickly grabs the whip the hung to his side and cracks it before him. His eyes shift from a soft childlike wonder into a glare of determination. Noticing the member that wasn't in their party River quickly selects Kyo's name and sets her to Auto Focus, keeping her health bar constantly to the top left for him to keep an eye on. "Alright now that I can keep a close watch on her hopefully no one will die. You got this River, you can do this." With a quick flick of his wrist River cracked the whip at the 5th Boar. A loud thwap could be heard and he only hoped it made contact. River gripped his wand in his left hand as he gave cursory glances to everyones health bars.

The landscape shifted extremely abruptly almost instantaneously, warping from the calm and rolling green hills that were only broken up by the occasional low level mob into a much smaller area, enclosed via many trees, with a large ruined piece of architecture nearby. The most captivating difference, however, was the massive Boars that stood in front of the group - compared to the enemies that they saw on the journey to the dungeon, these were at least twice as tall, and they were a few levels higher. They were making low pitched grumbling sounds, and Theo swore that one of them was foaming slightly at the mouth.

Their relatively low level did much to help his self esteem, however.

Reylan's order came out, and Theo immediately focused on the Boars that he was told to take on. Aggravate would probably guarantee a hit, especially since the Boars would charge straight towards them, but the ability still had a cool down, even if it was very short. He thought of his course of action until Alisea hopped in front of him, causing the area surrounding the center boar to become engulfed in shadows, and an arrow firing towards the same boar that had been at the epicenter of the attack. Theo moved forwards at this, his slow Paladin speed allowing him to reach the edge of the effect around the time it finished.

Quickly reaching into his menu, Theo equipped the Abyssal Mask and activated it, targeting the central boar right next to him, that had taken the two attacks head on. It would hopefully run away, allowing the others a few potshots. Then, He slammed his longsword against his shield, sparks appearing as he invoked his title's ability, Resolute Smite. Costly, but there were mages in the party with Chakra magic, so Mana was not a major issue.

All that was left was to prepare for the incoming assault, with the only comfort being that it was only half as strong, and one of the boars was running for the hills.

Xenos acted quickly, loading the rifle and taking a knee. He took a breath and held it, finger resting on the trigger until the Keen Eye notification popped up in his peripheral. He pulled the trigger, grunting at the sharp press of the rifle into his shoulder but swung it down to reload as quickly as possible. He grumbled at the precious seconds wasted, almost triggering auto reload before he remembered Reylan’s command, and took another breath, got his buff, and fired once more into the boar.

At Reylan’s command, Shiba drew his Forgotten Katana and rounded to the boar’s side as its attention was drawn. Shiba quickly closed the gap, slashing twice at the boar before jumping away from the beast.

There was almost a sigh of relief from the red tagged player when low level board came at the party, allowing her to ignore any questions or talks. However, Uchaka barely heard the order to focus on a specific boar when she had already raised her staff, lightning magic beginning to form before slamming the butt if the magic conduit into the ground. ”Chain Lightning!,” she commanded, an arc of electricity jumping to the boar she was told to target before it jumped to all the low-leveled boars.

However, that was not all that her power was worth, as from another of the nearby boar the effect of chain lightning sprung up again though not of her own doing. It was the passive Energize which allowed for her spell to replicate to another target, and for her, the spell was chain lightning. In essence, the board were weathering a storm and Uchaka merely began walking towards them, drawing a sword as her staff had been switched to her off-hand.

”Let us make short work of these mobs,” she said in her standard tone, raising her blade.

At least this tinker wasn't alone at being an outsider. He could notice a red-tagged player tagging along with the group as well. The girl may be younger, he didn't know through that skull mask. But he knew the girl was also extended an invitation just like he had been. While the foreign educated man would remain vigilant around this mysterious figure, he wouldn't be unsympathetic to not give her an opportunity.

Before his observation of the girl was noted, the dungeoning had begun. With the teleportation initiated, Steven unstrapped the new sniper rifle he had just invented the day before. With the smell of grease and wood still apparent in the new product, the man with the heavy glass decided to give this weapon a test. With his orders being given clear as the bright sky, with no ambiguity allowed to be exploited, Steven immediately turned his attention to the boar on the left.

"Alright." He gave his teammate the signal that he was ready to go

Steven stood at the far back of the entire group, as it was evident that his new weapon boasted the range far higher than any of the ranged weapon any players in this party possessed. He took his aim carefully, waiting until the Keen Eye icon flashed. Then he open fired on the said boar that he had been eyeing at for the whole time, the stock of the gun punched on his shoulder. He wasted no time rotating the muzzle upward to reload. The process was long and quite tedious, but Steven should be the one knowing that best since day 2.

Chari spent the majority of Day 11 nursing a massive hangover, not possessing much of the spirit she usually had. She had no idea why she decided to drink that much but she couldn't let the thought bother her now. They had spent the early part of the day marching to another dungeon, which in no short amount got her excited. She had been getting pretty bored lazing around the city, which might explain her binge, but now was the time for action! Luckily it didn't seem to take nearly as long to reach this one, a fact she was all too happy about. A few newcomers had replaced the members they lost. Chari was not sure about her feelings on that subject. She barely knew Karma but it still sucked to go out like that. It was a death that was all too familiar to her in the real world....

Everything besides the present was pushed from her mind as they entered the dungeon properly, her kunai comfortably in her grip. She bounced lightly on her feet even before the first monsters spawned, she was eager to fight. Her shimmering emerald eyes lit up in hunger as the boars appeared, undaunted by their size "Time to serve some bacon, eh?" She playfully quipped to the others. Within moments, Reylan was issuing orders. Good. She didn't want to wait for a complex plan to deal with a few swine. Her body lowered towards the floor as the springs in her leg muscles wound up tightly. A quick release and she was rushing towards her enemy.

Speed and maneuverability were her best traits, so she tried to rush to the Boar's side. When she believed she had an opening, she lunged forward to slash across its large torso. Real boars were strong and fast, but not that agile. That is why she hoped the in-game followed that logic. Chari quickly followed up her slash by thrusting the kunai into its hide, before using its tough skin as launch platform to step and propel herself backwards, flipping in the air and onto her feet to gain some distance. That is when she taunted the boar, like a matador, in hopes of forcing it to charge her. If it did, she would pray her skills were good enough to dodge at the right moment. "This way you piece of shit!" She yelled.

Dubstepp sighed, he slowly walked with his new group of guild mates. His enthusiasm wasn’t there. Who can blame him though? So much had happened the past few days.

If the reason for the dungeon exploration was different, maybe Dubstepp would crack a smile. But the fact of the matter is that this adventure is solely for leveling up and attacking Valentine afterwards. Not even two weeks inside this game and Dubstepp was fighting someone else’s war, or now he was fighting his own war.

Dubstepp entered the dungeon’s zone. It was more appealing than the last one ventured. ”So what are the odds of us dying this time?” The musician joked about the perils that lied ahead. Dubstepp rotated his neck, looking at everyone’s expression. He remembered his hang-out yesterday with Shiba.

He hoped everyone did not share the same anger and the same vengeance. If everyone felt strongly about Karma, this dungeon run could go badly. This is just reliant that individuals don’t react to emotion alone.

The trainer stopped in his tracks. Apparently, the others in front had spotted the first band of enemies. Dubstepp peered his head over and raised an eyebrow. “Are you kidding me?”

Dubstepp summoned his monster; the giant, carnivorous rabbit appeared before him, ready to rumble and attack. “It’s Totoro,” Dubstepp corrected Reylan. The tamer then ordered his beast to charge toward the left.

Totoro did as he commanded, running sideways in a 180 degree manner. Once Dubstepp considered the position was correct, he told his beast to hit the boars from behind.



Dubstepp became worried about the emotion of his guild mates. He also reflected on his downtime spent with Shiba. Once confronted by a pack of boars, Dubstepp followed Reylan’s advice and used Totoro to attack the back of Boar #3.

Boars were tough to say the least. One of those monsters with high defense against physical attacks. The regeneration abilities from the passive Action was just the cherry on top. The Players' attacks were mighty enough, wounding the boars and lowering their HP bar. Notably the overcharged arcs of lightning jumping among all the boars and the critical hit from one of the gunners dealt heavy damages.
But the boars would not go down without a fight. However, before they got to choose their targets for retaliation, the loud and magical clang from the Paladin's clashing sword and shield put them into a trance, making them attack the offender for a single attack. However the tough target would be able to negate the worst of the damage.
After the effect of Paladin's aggro draw ended, Boars all split up looking for separate targets to attack. A couple used their Actions against their opponents while others decided to gore with their tusks or trample. One in particular, perhaps a little brighter than others, ran at full speed towards one of the Tinkers, determined to bring him down before he unleashed more firepower. However the great distance between them meant he would not reach him in time.

Rivers eyes scanned across the teams health bars. His fingers curled and tightened around his wand as he watched all the Boars slam against Dirk and he watched in anticipation of his inevitable health drop. "It barely dropped. Ok good." Alisea seamed the most damaged from the group, Rivers hand reacting with a flick of his wrist. A green wind danced around his feet as it gathered up towards his wands tip and then shoot out a green beam towards her.

Xenos clicked his tongue irritably and brought his rifle again, waited for his buff, fired and repeated from his position. Hopefully,they’d level relatively quickly so he can increase his accuracy.

All but one of the Boars proceeded to ram into Theo, driving their tusks into his armor as hard as they could. Theo knew that for most of the other party members, this would have been a massive blow, but thanks to both his incredible armor and the effect of his titular ability, the damage he actually sustained was less than a third of what he should have received - that, along with the rosary and the dulled pain from the game, and Theo felt his confidence return slightly. This was quickly dashed , when one boar immediately charged Alisea, followed by another doing decent damage to Chari.

In response, Theo pointed at the boar running towards the newcomer, Steven, before casting aggravate, hopefully buying a little bit of time. As soon as the cool down finished, Theo used Resolute Smite once more, cursing the fact that he had so few aggro drawing abilities that were AoE.
