Something a bit different.

As a kid, growing up who was your favourite Superhero(es)?

I'm sorry but for me:

For anyone to claim they aren't Superheroes... they have secret identities, have an arch nemesis with mind control powers and go around the world using advanced technology to save people.

I wasn't exposed to a lot of Superhero culture as a kid, no comic book stores near me. I can't remember ever actually watching Spider-Man on TV for years and years. These were the heroes I grew up with, something with the spaceships/rockets and the way they operated always interested me.

I guess child me was destined to become a nerd.

Because I was a vanilla kid, and I liked staying up past my bed time to watch reruns of BTAS on Boomerang, I was a huge fan of Batman. Dressed up as him at least three times for Halloween, too. But now I'm a patrician and only like the Question.

My love for Superman is never a joke, Sepster.

I borrowed Superman: TAS from the library on a loop as a kid. Fuckin' loved that show.

I feel old.

While Boomerang was a thing through most of my childhood, we didn't get it until I was easily 8 as before that we didn't have sky.

Hell our old aerial TVs didn't even pick up ITV (which most the commonly loved cartoons were on, such as Spider-Man and Spongebob. Two cartoons I never watched as a kid).

Don't make me make Hulk again, and make you make Wolverine again cause I kicked your ass once. I'll kick it again.

I loved the Thunderbirds. For whatever reason, when I was young and before reading comic books, James Bond was always my favorite "superhero." Him and Darkwing Duck.

You should feel old considering most of the people in this RP predate me by at least five years.

Anyway, Boomerang was just kinda a thing I always had on TV. Aside from things like Spongebob, my earliest memory of watching TV was watching Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and BTAS on Boomerang.

Okay. Consider that my last post with the Surfer saga barring any other post Surfer interaction.

I did not write it expecting the Raft to be totally destroyed haha

It's not totally destroyed. Just heavily damaged. Certainly repairable over the three month period given enough political will on the city's part.

I actually didn't get into superheroes proper until I was in high school, apart from the occasional Spider-Man comic (and even then, it was usually only if it had Venom in it). However, if we're just expanding the definition of superhero to include any heroic protagonist with superhuman abilities who saves the world from evil, then this was my gateway drug which eventually got me into comics (and gaming):

Okay, great. I'm glad to hear that our sprawling, at points chaotic event has opened up avenues, rather than closing them.

On the avenue-closing note, a little @Lord Wraith shaped birdy tells me the last Thor post – and therefore penultimate main MME post – is done. We're happy to wait on anyone that's doing clean-up/side mission stuff to get finished to put it up, but unless said parties announce themselves in the next hour or two, we'll be forced to push on.

So here's your chance.

I've got one last post I want to throw up. It'll read remarkably like Henry's, but I swear to God I thought of it first and I'm not changing it now, God damn it.

Ever since seeing this particular frame when I was 4 years old, for whatever reason, I became instantly enamored with both superheroes and the titular character of this film:

I don't exactly remember the exact order of events that led to my interest in characters beyond Batman, but they were catching an episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series while my cousin flipped through channels, getting a Happy Meal toy of Wolverine and thinking he was cool because he looked remarkably similar to Batman, and my dad showing me a scene from Superman The Movie. So all three of those characters stuck with me to varying degrees ever since with Spidey and Supes rounding out my eternal trifecta.

But my passion for The Caped Crusader never really died. It just expanded as I grew older, from being given the action figures at a young age to getting old enough to watch the movies as they came to theaters, to doing a deep dive into BTAS reruns and eventually beginning to follow the comics and collect the graphic novels when I was 13. If it involved Batman, I knew of it and had consumed it willingly.

Spider-Man for me. Always been Spider-Man. The Everyman, the geek, the guy who can never get things completely right no matter how hard he tries and even though he has super powers. The guy who is just a normal guy outside the suit. I think he’s possibly one of the best fictional characters period, let alone comics.

Outside of him, the TMNT are a close second. Love everything about them. I still want to play a game that lasts where I can play as them.

I'm a peculiar case because I didn't get into the caped crusaders until a little independent film called Spider-Man sent me down that rabbit hole. (I mean, like any 90s kid, I had been exposed to the Spider-Man and X-Men animated series -- didn't see as much of the DC stuff -- but it didn't really "take" until Raimi's film hooked me.) No, my childhood superheroes were these nerds:

By God as my witness, I will make that into an RPG eventually.
