This includes the ability to generate various natural phenomena or control the intensity of the weather in highly concentrated (inside room) or vastly extended (continental) areas. There are four main factors of Weather manipulation: Air Manipulation - for wind and related effects. Electricity Manipulation - lightning in all variations. Thermal Manipulation - make it cold or hot. Water Manipulation - rain, snow, fog etc. • Limitation(s) | Joss' power is emotion-based, and therefore it becomes unstable if she gets emotional. At present she is not able to control the weather after she cause the effects to manifest, she is able to use the effects but not cancel them as of yet. She can use effects present already but as of yet is unable to cancel them. • Weakness(es) | Joss is a teenager and hormones are wonky. Her perception of life is skewed as with all teenagers. She has a temper problem and mood swings for her result in weather changes. She loses it if you threaten her friends and family. She also has an overdeveloped sense of justice and any perceived slight to justice, her or a stranger, gets her temper going. //Skills: • Tai Chi | Tai chi (taiji), short for T'ai chi ch'üan, or Taijiquan (pinyin: tàijíquán; 太极拳), is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. The term taiji refers to a philosophy of the forces of yin and yang, related to the moves. Though originally conceived as a martial art, it is also typically practiced for a variety of other personal reasons: competitive wrestling in the format of pushing hands (tui shou), demonstration competitions and achieving greater longevity. As a result, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims with differing emphasis. Some training forms of tàijíquán are especially known for being practiced with relatively slow movements. //Paraphenalia: • Cell phone | HTC One | Appearance Details ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Joss is tall and lithe but not without curves (36-22-36). She has freckles. She is most often seen in skin tight leggings, graphic tees, crop tops, boots or tennis shoes. Character Synopsis ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Joss is a little town country girl from Pilot Grove, MO. Her family owned a farm and she joked that she was probably related to half the town. It was a sleepy little town that really only had a corner store a church and a pool. She was the oldest of four with two brothers behind her, two years and four years younger, and a sister seven years younger than her. Her powers manifested at the age of thirteen when one of the boys in her class wouldn't leave her alone. For weeks he had teased her about her hair, being the only redhead for generations she got a lot of attention, and she'd had enough. After school walking home he finally got under her skin. He knocked her brother over and the sky darkened as she vented her rage verbally. Lightning struck a nearby old silo and the kids scattered. This incident was followed by more. She was pulled out of school when one incident of a microburst blew in windows and she was yet again in a rage. She was recommended to take a martial art and she chose Tai Chi due to the movements. Unfortunately things did not get better. Joss' parents looked into what would help their daughter and they decided to join the Hyperhuman Social Conscience Program. Personality ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Joss is the protector of the underdog. She has a heart of gold. She's outgoing and likes to make friends. She's quick to her temper but is making progress with the Tai Chi. She loves to read and likes to make people laugh. Miscellaneous ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Father: James Harmon-38 Living. Mother: Olivia Harmon-36 Living. Brother: Raymond Harmon-14 Living. ![]() _______________________________________________ Ivy Marie Harper _______________________________________________ 17 |♀ | Heterosexual _______________________________________________ Physical Profile ___________________________________ //Basics: • Height | 5’4” • Weight | 120 lbs. • Ethnicity | Ivory • Hair Colour | Ginger • Eye Colour | Forest Green //Piercings/Tattoos/Scars: • None Abilities, Skills and Resources ___________________________________ //Abiliites: • Hyperhuman Ability | Ivy has the ability to restore biotic organisms to optimal health. This means that she can heal damaged or withered organisms, wounds, broken bones, low vitality, and diseases/poisoning. However, the afflicted must be alive, even if just barely, for her ability to work. If the afflicted is, or has died, it would transcend healing and require resurrection. • Limitation(s) | There are several limitations to Ivy’s ability. Though she can heal others relatively quick, when it comes to healing herself, it takes a little more time. Though it is possible. In order for her ability to work, she has to have some sort of physical contact with the afflicted. She cannot heal someone that has died. • Weakness(es) | Any wound/damage she heals from others, transfers into/onto her. //Skills: • Cooking | Having parents who worked constantly, Ivy's grandmother taught her how to cook. She can make quick easy things, as well as harder, more time consuming things. Ivy also love to bake. As a girl with a constant sweet tooth, she can make cakes, pies, cookie and the like. //Paraphenalia: • Cell Phone | A Samsung Galaxy 7 | Appearance Details ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Ivy stands at roughly 5'4" and weighs 120 lbs. Her skin is the color of Ivory, sprinkled with a healthy dose of freckles. Her eyes are a forest green with random nrown spots in them, and her hair is a natural ginger, falling to her mid back. She has a bit of a pear shaped figure, small feet (a size 6 in womens), and has a healthy muscle mass for her size. Her nose is narrow, but fits her heart shaped face perfectly. Character Synopsis ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Ivy practically grew up in Crestwood, her family having moved there when she was 3 or 4. Her mother, Irene, worked long hours at the hospital as an OR Nurse. Her father, Logan, was a firefighter, also working long hours. Needles to say, her grandmother, Joan, watched after her most of the time. Teaching her how to cook, how to sew, helping her with her homework. The woman was practically a second mother to Ivy. Despite that, she often felt alone, having no siblings and no friends. At least, not until she met Noah, the boy that lived next door to them. The pair quickly became inseparable, and we're hardly ever seen apart. They could always be found playing in the rain, running around the yard, or just about anything kids did. Unfortunately, their fun didn't last. The pair slowly started to drift apart. Increasingly so, when Ivy discovered she wasn't quite as normal as she thought she was. Around the time Ivy was in middle school, Ivy discovered that she had the ability to heal wounds. It happened, when her grandmother had gotten into a nearly fatal car accident on her way home from the store. A younger man had swerved to avoid hitting a cat that had ran into the middke of the road, and ended up hitting Joan head on. She had spent months in the hospital, Ivy visiting her everyday she could. On one such day, Ivy had been sitting beside her grandmother, holding her hand while she slept. Her eyes kept glancing at a particularly bad bruise around her eye. It was terribly dark, and when her eyes were open, the white, was red. Eventually, Ivy’s eyes rested on the bruise, thinking, wishing it would go away. Seconds later, Ivy felt a sharp pain in her eye. She reached her hand up to touch around it, but immediately pulled her hand back. It was extremely sensitive to the touch. When she looked back at her grandmother, she noticed that the bruise was slowly disappearing. In disbelief, Ivy looked closer, and sure enough, it continued to fade. But the pain in her own eye got worse. She immediately released her grandmother's hand and raced to the bathroom, examining herself in the mirror. Sure enough, her own eye was bruised, while her grandmother's was nearly gone. Of course, questions rose at home and school, and unable to lie, Ivy told people what had happened. Some of them thought she was full of shit and asked if her dad had beat her, while others left her company completely, knowing what she told them was true. It was out now. She was one of the Hypers, and she lost friends left and right. Until one particular day after school. Ivy had been in a sour mood, having been sick of the kids at school. People she had been friends with for years, suddenly just decide to abandon her because she has some special ability. They were acting as if she never existed now. She was out for a walk, when a dog crossed paths with her. At first, she was cautious of him. He was beautiful, no doubt, but a strange nonetheless. When she realized he was as friendly as could be, and didn't seem to have a home (As he always seemed to come and visit her), she named him Shadow, for his dark fur. Day after day, the dog would come sit with her, or walk with her, and she would talk to him as if he were a human. She began smiling more and dismissing the way things at school went, something easier said than done. Nearly out of high school, a new program came along. The Hyperhuman Social Conscience Program. It was mostly out of curiosity that she decided to join. Ivy was skeptical that there was anyone that would/could help people like her, but she joined anyways, filled with the slightest bit of hope. Personality ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Ivy is normally a quiet, reserved individual around people that she doesn't know. However, around those that she does know, she is lively and spunky. She loves to laugh and let loose when appropriate, and loves a cheesey joke as much as the next person. Ivy hates confrontation, but will try her best to handle things in a peaceful manner before resorting to any violence. Despite that, she's the sort of person that always tries to find the good in everyone, even when they've given her reason after reason to believe there Jan any. ![]() _______________________________________________ Benjamin Samuelle Hope _______________________________________________ 17 | ♂ | Homosexual _______________________________________________ Physical Profile ___________________________________ //Basics: • Height | 5'-10" • Weight | 165 lbs • Ethnicity | Afro-Jewish British • Hair Colour | Black • Eye Colour | Light-Brown //Piercings/Tattoos/Scars: • Example | His ears are pierced, he has a scar on his left temple, and he has a tattoo of the number 9764 on the back of his neck. This was his late father's birthday(September 7, 1964). Abilities, Skills and Resources ___________________________________ //Abiliites: • Hyperhuman Ability | Intangibility • Capabilities | Benjamin possesses the ability to pass through solid matter and objects by passing his atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which he is moving. In this way, he and the object through which he is passing can temporarily merge without interacting and each is unharmed when he has finished passing through the object. He can share his intangibility with other objects and even people by maintaining physical contact with them through the duration. • Limitations and Weakness(es) | Since he is unable to breathe while intangible, he can only continuously phase through solid objects for as long as he can hold his breath. As he is still relatively new to his powers, denser materials are more difficult for him to phase through, sometimes causing him pain during the process. Solidifying while in an object could cause serious injury if not death. As it is an active ability, if he can't see an attack coming, he can't phase through it. Aside from HZE suppression technology, he is especially susceptible to electricity, as it tends to bridge the molecules back together, disrupting and stopping his ability in the process. //Skills: • Gardening | He finds gardening therapeutic and relatable. There's an appeal to cultivating something from one's bare hands and continued dedication, watching it grow and develop into something magnificent and beneficial. Gardening represents his philosophy on life. You cultivate an idea and watch it flourish over time through hard work and perseverance. "From a seed, to a rose", he likes to say. //Paraphenalia: • Flip Phone | He doesn't see the need for anything beyond that. • A Book | Benjamin can almost always be found with a book in his hands. Currently, he is reading a self-growth book called "The Beast Within" by Babs Caplan. | Appearance Details ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Benjamin is a handsome young man with sandy tan skin and brown hair, often kept short. His eyes are light brown and almond, with a resting look of contemplation and longing. He has full lips, an oval face, prominent eyebrows, and a bulbed nose notably inherited from his father. His protruding ears and bright face give him a somewhat elf-like appearance. He is of an average height, and his body is slim and toned like a swimmer, though notably missing the muscle definition of someone who actually exercises. He generally wears clean attire, a polo and khakis is usually his go to, though sometimes sweaters as well. Character Synopsis ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Born and raised for most of his life in the UK by a British mother and a Jewish father, Benjamin is the second oldest of 4, having one older brother and two younger brothers, Solomon Jr.(20), Danior(15) and Malachai(9). His mother worked as a psychotherapist and his father was in the military. Because of this, he didn't get to see his father very often. Despite this, Benjamin had always admired his parents, but especially his father, who had always taught him the value of knowledge, continued growth, and how to be a responsible man. However, it wasn't until his father died in duty, that his powers activated. The day after the funeral, he was plagued by a haunting nightmare and when he woke up, he found himself on the basement floor with a gash on his temple and a broken ankle. Once he recovered, every night he would use his newfound ability to quietly sneak out the house in order to visit his father's grave, talking and ranting to him as though he had never departed. This nightly ritual went on for months. But unfortunately, his mother had no such solace. Unable to bury the pain of her husband's death and in much dire need of a fresh start, Benjamin's mother moved them to Crestwood Hollow after an extensive search for a new school lead to the discovery of the The Hyperhuman Social Conscience Program. Though voluntary, she made Benjamin's participation mandatory. Furthermore, it was here that she was finally able to live her life long dream of opening her own psychotherapy practice. But in the end, she is hoping that Benjamin can start over as well and become a happier individual. He probably took the death of his father the hardest. Personality ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Composed, soft-spoken, practical, and no-nonsense, Benjamin is an insightful and pensive individual who puts education and hard-work above all else. He is incredibly pragmatic and sensible, and is the type to get things done right the first time, as he can become very impatient and hates wasting his time. To him, knowledge and self-growth is power, and anything else that might subvert from that is a waste of time and effort. Though his eyes are sparkling and seem warm and inviting, in actuality, he is rather shy, cold, and distant. Benjamin has a hard time expressing his emotions to others and prefers to remain studious and nose deep in his studies. He sometimes does his peers homework for pay, as he is not completely opposed to stepping outside the box. Though he generally sees himself to be more intelligent than his peers, he does see the potential in them and can become frustrated when they do not seize it or realize it themselves. In this regard, he can become rather imperious and controlling, as he does not tolerate failure, especially for himself, and is willing to jeopardize his morality in order to achieve his goals. For the rare few who have managed to penetrate his icy outer exterior, he is very sensitive, gentle, and loyal to them, probably to a fault. Benjamin continues to think dearly of his departed father and wants to follow in his will in order to exert himself for the remainder of his living family. He will stand up against anyone who dare speak ill of his father. Miscellaneous ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ He is openly gay, though makes no effort to make it a point or topic of discussion. He has never had a boyfriend or even been kissed yet. Speaks with a British accent. Following in his father's jewish heritage, he prays three times a day(morning, afternoon, and evening). Benjamin's Family - Father (Deceased) - Solomon Hope Sr. (Former military lieutenant) - Mother - Georgette Hope nee Okonedo (Psychotherapy practitioner) - Older Brother - Solomon Hope Jr (20) (College student. ![]() _______________________________________________ Chan Kai Mei _______________________________________________ 17 | ♂ | Pansexual _______________________________________________ Physical Profile ___________________________________ //Basics: • Height | 5'08" • Weight | 130 lbs • Ethnicity | Chinese (Fair-Yellow) • Hair Colour | Black • Eye Colour | Brown //Piercings/Tattoos/Scars • Example | N/A (despite the faceclaim) Abilities, Skills and Resources ___________________________________ //Abiliites: • Hyperhuman Ability | Pyrokinesis, also known as the fire manipulation. Mei has the power to manipulate fire with a touch of her fingertips. So long as there is a source of fire within her vicinity, whether it'd be a mere barrel fire or a full on inferno, she is able to bend it to her will and have do anything she wishes, up to but not limited to incinerating everything in her path. The fire that she manipulates is able to take on many forms, shapes, and sizes, however she is not as adept with certain forms as she is with others. • Limitation(s) | As previously stated, Mei requires some sort of fire near her of adequate size to do something effective. A measly match may not be able to help her take out a target. However, even with a sufficient source, accuracy and control is also not guaranteed. There is a chance that she may lose control of the fire and be unable to have it do what she wants to do. The bigger the source, the higher her chances of losing control there is. Additionally, she cannot uphold her pyrokinesis for too long. It doesn't take long for her to tire. Luckily, her stamina and endurance have been steadily increasing as she gets used to her skills and more adept to it. Whether she is ready for an rigorous engagement, however, is yet to be tested. • Weakness(es) | As per the laws of nature, water is Mei's biggest weakness. Drenching her in water is the fastest way to neutralize her and render her useless until she dries off. She has to be perfectly dried out in order to use her abilities to their highest potential. Using her fire skill also leaves her incredibly vulnerable from the rear. She needs someone to watch her back otherwise it is very easy to take her out when isolated. //Skills: • Wing Chun | Growing up in Hong Kong, martial arts were incredibly common no matter where you looked. Whether it'd be the television and film industry or random gangsters getting into fights on the streets. Hand to hand combat was the norm where she grew up. As a result, her parents put her into Wing Chun knowing that it would help her out, as well as be a way to dump her for a few hours while her parents spent some time alone. She has not practiced the martial art for a while, but rest assured that she still remembers a thing or two. • Computers | Mei has quite the ability with computers. It isn't on the level where she can hack anything and everything she wishes, but she is able to maneuver her way through various interfaces and figure out what it is she needs to press to get something to work. Mei also has a knack for fixing them, so long as the issue is software-based and not hardware-based. //Paraphenalia: • iPhone XS Max | Don't judge. The later the better. • Backpack | Mei typically carries things like her laptop (a 2017 Space Gray MacBook Pro) and a few items that may or may not be related to personal upkeep and hygiene. | Appearance Details ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Mei's most iconic feature is her lithe figure. It is stemmed from the rather harsh beauty standards she was upheld to as a child, where she was berated for being fat despite being a healthy weight. Additionally, much like her fellow exchange students, she often wears the most expensive streetwear brands. Colors and material don't matter as much as the brand and style do. She owns a few shirts that have a phrase that she does not know the meaning of, sometimes they end up being quite vulgar. it plays well into her general attitude and demeanor, making it easier for her to play off the fact that she just straight up doesn't know what it means. Character Synopsis ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Born and raised in Kowloon, Hong Kong, Mei was the child of a government executive and a member of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption. The immediate conflict between her parents' occupations meant that relations at home weren't really that good. Fighting was the norm back then as her parents tried to word things in a way that would not incriminate themselves or anyone else. The tension had been so bad that if her parents weren't fighting then there was nothing but silence and other forms of emotional abuse going on. It was hard for Mei to get the attention of her parents as they were more focused on not tipping off each other rather than tending to the needs of their daughter. That was why as Mei grew up, they usually dumped her off at whatever activity they could. Camps, extra classes, martial arts, whatever to get her out of the house and out of the noxious environment her parents had created. But as she had gotten older, it had become harder to find things to put her in, compounded with her growing rebellious attitude, she had become yet another thorn in her parents' side as they still snaked around and made sure nothing that they didn't need to know slip out of their mouths. It was starting to become dangerous as the majority of Mei's peers had caught wind of her parents' relationship due to the overzealous Hong Kong paparazzi industry. To make things worse, Mei's pyrokinesis powers were discovered sometime during primary education after an accident involving a bunsen burner and a marshmallow. The paparazzi was soon on the Chan family, and more pressure was created on the family, creating more and more cracks within their already weak foundation as tensions got worse between her parents. It was soon decided that it was better for the whole family to ship Mei off somewhere else, which was what landed her in the hyperhuman program as that was the best course of action for her. Personality ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Mei has one of the worst cases of resting bitch face anyone has ever seen. Rightfully so, since she is most known for her rather cattish disposition. It mostly comes from her disdain for the rather artificial environment that is most prevalent in places such as this. Needless to say, Mei doesn't mesh well with how fake everyone tends to be. She keeps it real, and she makes it clear she doesn't like you. You can count the people she is actually fond of on one hand, mostly consisting of people in her "clique" as that is where she is most comfortable. Her demeanor knows no bounds, either. Whether it'd be the school administration, her teachers, or even her peers. If she doesn't like what you're doing, she'll call you out on it. This has created a rather unsavory reputation among the school staff, considering her to be one of the biggest delinquents around, despite her not actually stirring much trouble outside of class. |
![]() Alternative 1, alternative 2. _______________________________________________ Jiao-long (Jiao) Wenrong _______________________________________________ 17 | ♂ | Heterosexual _______________________________________________ Physical Profile ___________________________________ //Basics: • Height | 5'8" • Weight | 155 lbs • Ethnicity | Chinese • Hair Colour | Black • Eye Colour | Brown //Piercings/Tattoos/Scars: • Industrial snake | An industrial-style piercing stylized after a serpent. Abilities, Skills and Resources ___________________________________ //Abilities: • Hyperhuman Ability | Osteokinesis Osteokinesis is, as the name implies, the manipulation of bone material within the body of the host. Applications vary ranging from the violent (the use of bones for weaponry) to the helpful (utilizing knowledge of bones in hospitals). This works through the unique control the host has over the growth of bonecells and thus allows them to control to a very fine level the growth of bones in general within their own body. Osteokinesis has an easy and a difficult side. The creation of bonecells and, thus, bones is considered easy, as the process occurs naturally in those who have not yet realized their power and can result in growths occurring even if the host is not actively utilizing their power consciously (i.e. a child could grow bones without realizing it). This is relatively unproblematic until the bone pierces the skin. It is much harder to decelerate, or even completely stop the growth of bones, which requires more practice and awareness of the process that is osteokinesis. Once this process is mastered, however, a user can control the growth of their bones and completely pause it, stop it, or create more bones at will. Secondarily, a user has a control over the density of their bones through the amount of bonecells used within the bone as well as the structure. This allows them to create weak, strong, light, or heavy bones. Of course, this is relative to the actual bone being created -- bones as strong as reinforced steel will most likely not be an occurence. • Limitation(s) | The creation of bones, while not directly exhausting, is draining in the long term. The constant creation of bonecells puts a strain on the body as the bonecells have to be created from something -- they cannot be materialized from literal nothing, and as such, require a resource. Luckily this resource is available within the body and those who live a decently healthy lifestyle are likely to experience no real problems with this unless they really strain themselves. That said, a user that is engaged in, say, a prolonged fight or training session will likely feel themselves drained of energy and will need to rest to regain their strength in the same way one would need to rest to regain their energy after a marathon -- only osteokinesis is much more tiring in a shorter term. • Weakness(es) | In the end bone is just bone and while bone is naturally quite strong (it has to be) there are limitations to this strength. Resistance to cutting/piercing motions are quite good -- bone is sturdy and hard and not easy to cut or pierce with, say, a knife. Blunt forces are much better equipped to deal with bones and could, with enough force, shatter it. While normal sources of vibration are likely not enough to do any damages to the bones, particularly high-powered sources (such as that of a hyperpower, for example) might be able to crack or even completely shatter the bone too. //Skills: • Economics | While Jiao is not really that amazing at it, his family background in the steel-production in Hong-Kong and the ownership of a variety of factories related to that business required him (if familial pressures can be seen as 'requirements') to take classes in economics. Frankly, he hated it, and doesn't really understand it on a grander scale (such as macro-economics), but if one were to say name a random theory or formula, it might be very well possible he'd understand it. His lack of actual mastery of this skill begins to explain his transfer to a hyper-human oriented program. • Shotokan Karate | Stereotypes aside Jiao was actually quite proficient at Shotokan karate, but it was most likely not his talent that brought him to his 2nd Dan before leaving -- it was probably his family name and wealth. Like with most things, he quickly got bored and decided to leave after his 2nd dan, and pursue another martial art -- one that he followed a similar process in, before leaving again. His actual skill in the martial art has most likely rusted since then. • Dissimulation | Essentially, the ability to lie and conceal his true thoughts, emotions, or character. Coming from a family like Jiao-long requires you to be able to either be a perfect son, or a perfect liar. Lacking the personality or desire to be a perfect son, Jiao instead opted to become a good liar. Hiding his true thoughts, emotions, and his miscreant character has since become second nature to him. Mind you, this does not mean he lies a lot, or at all -- his presence in a new country with people he honestly cares very little for has emboldened him to be himself if anything. //Paraphenalia: • iPhone X | His papa is rich and he's not afraid to flaunt it. • Clothing | Expensive designer streetwear, probably. | Appearance Details ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Jiao-long is a quite recognizable person -- most likely because he always looks indifferent or angry, and wears flashy brands and color combinations that normally belong on some kind of streetwear fashion event where hypebeasts gather to see the latest version of the Supreme redbox logo shirt. He is not typically handsome, he is not tall (well, not for an American) and doesn't look body-builder buff. Quite the opposite, really. This is a complete juxtaposition to the way he carries himself, as he walks around like he owns the place. Overly confident, in a nonchalant 'I don't care' type of way, like he knows he's better than you and doesn't care whether you realize it or not. Of course, whether he truly feels this way or is just putting up a façade is up in the air -- however, given his background, it is not unlikely he truly believes it. Character Synopsis ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Jia-long Wenrong was born to two upstanding members of Hong Kong society. His father worked for his uncle in the steel business, on which their family had a firm steel grip which came quite close to the definition of a monopoly. His mother was from another upstanding family that dealt in soy sauce -- a business that did not seem particularly glamorous, but had raked in millions. Neither of his parents were close to the family fortune, having been second or even third in line to take over as family head. Perhaps it was for the best, as they were removed from the limelight to some degree. Jiao thus grew up in a rich family where he was expected to follow in his fathers footsteps and become part of the business, doing whatever his father did (which was, frankly, a whole lot of nothing and a few meetings to break up the monotony of doing nothing). That included a foreign education, since saying you were from Harvard was a bit more prestigious than saying you were from a local university, and facing the truth, these families cared more about prestige than the actual knowledge you obtained here. He was sent to an international school at a young age and enrolled in an international highschool, but complications involving his hyper-human ability made this process more difficult than it had to be. He was 'a late bloomer' when it came to his power, courtesy of the insane overpopulation in Hong Kong and the Asian region in general, however, the complications threw mud in the face of his enrolment in the international highschool. It was instead decided that he'd be shipped off to America to enrol in a highschool in the middle of nowhere which just so happened to be one of the first to have an actual hyperhuman program of sorts. The details didn't stick out to him so much, but escaping his family and Hong Kong was a welcome change. So, he shipped out. Personality ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Jiao is quite confident to the point to where it might be (mis)construed as arrogance. Whether it truly is arrogance is up to the beholder -- Jiao certainly seems to think he's the shit. This also means he thinks he doesn't have to put up with anyone, or anything. What this means in practice is that he cliques up with those 'like him,' namely the rich and, well, the Chinese, especially those from mainland China rather than American-born Chinese people. They have to have money after all. Anyone else is a peasant to him. He's also not particularly good at keeping up with housework and the like, doing it when he feels like it, much less when he has to. Even the courtesy of copying someone elses homework is something he considers below him, and he expects the teachers to just put up with him not doing it. ("Do you know who my dad is? I don't need to do homework!") |
![]() _______________________________________________ Marcus Nathaniel Weston _______________________________________________ 17 | ♂ | Heterosexual _______________________________________________ Physical Profile ___________________________________ //Basics: • Height | 6 foot, 1 inch. • Weight | 176 lbs • Ethnicity | Caucasian • Hair Colour | Brown • Eye Colour | Green Abilities, Skills and Resources ___________________________________ //Abiliites: • Hyperhuman Ability | Gravity Manipulation: Marcus is able to manipulate the force of gravity on himself and in areas around him. This means lowering the local gravity or increasing it for desired effects. More notably, though, Marcus is able to change the direction of the gravity in a more central area around himself, allowing him to for instance make Gravity pull you upwards - away from the planet, rather than to the ground. He does this by supercharging the Graviton in the air and clustering them together, each of these clusters causes a greater gravitational pull than that of the planets. This can for instance be used to feign a simpler, less agile form of telekinesis, as he can move things by moving the cluster the thing is moving towards. Marcus has an internal gravoscope that protects him largely from the negative affects of altering gravity on the human body, by internalizing gravitons he's able to subvert most of the organ-crushing, spine-shattering aspects of changing the hold of gravity on the human body. • Limitation(s) | Marcus has only ever displayed increasing gravity slightly, having more success in moving it's hold, or loosening it. His powers are always entirely centralized on himself, making him able to manipulate how gravity affects him, and a small area around him naturally, generating clusters to move other things is a lot harder and requires intense concentration, making his powers not particularly fit for offensive capabilities at this time. • Weakness(es) | While Marcus's body's resistance to the dangers of gravity's enhanced, he's far from immune. Odds are, his powers are gonna hurt him a lot more than they would hurt anyone else. His powers offers him no superhuman attributes, he's just as vulnerable to getting shot, burned, stabbed, crushed, smacked or humiliated as anyone else. //Skills: • Science: | Physics in particular. Marcus has a natural fascination with physics and math, probably due to how vital it is to his life and everyday living. Science is his strongest subject amongst a whole pile of A+'s. Soccer: | Marcus has played soccer for as long as he can remember - his father took him to Europe a lot as a kid, and that's where he initially learned to love the sport. Politics: | Marcus is, and has been for 3 years straight, the Class Rep and with this year looks like he's going to become student body president. His father's big into politics, and so was his mom, so it's always been important to him. Hyperhuman weaponry: | Marcus's father - Nathan is one of the leaders in anti-Hype weaponry and was one of the first to mass manufacture the Restriction Collars and incubation holding cells that today have become the standard in fighting Hyperhuman dissidents. Marcus certainly doesn't know the entirety of the inner workings of these tools, but he knows more about them than the average 17 year old. Judo: | Marcus has studied Judo in his free time for the past eight years. He's a brown belt. //Paraphenalia: • Phone | Latest model Smartphone. • Mustang GT 2014 | A couple year old model Mustang GT. • Inhibitor Bracelet | Electron bracelet that suppresses his abilities that he's worn for the past four years. Of his father's company's design. Looks like a smartwatch. | Appearance Details ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Marcus is tall, well built and fairly handsome in a boyscout kind of way. Nobody would think that Marcus is a bad boy, and they'd be right for doing so. His life's been pretty good. He comes from good money, his father is incredibly successful and he's a driven, well taken care off young man. It's plain to see all of these things in the way he carries himself, the way he talks and the way he dresses. His style's comprised of good brand clothes, nothing too fancy but nothing shabby, either. Jeans, T-shirt, hoodie, jacket. He doesn't wear any piercings and has no tattoos currently. Character Synopsis ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Marcus is a rather straight forward, popular and morally upstanding young man. People call him 'boyscout' on occasion. He is by the book and very responsible and reliable. This is kind of contradictory to his background in the top 1 percent, his father a billionaire and his mother a lawyer before her death when Marcus was a child. Marcus isn't a particularly spoiled young man, perhaps due to the humble pie he's been served more than once. His father's job makes Marcus's identity as a Hyperhuman quite the issue and reflects poorly on his father's work and stature. Marcus is a Straight A student, captain of the soccer team and class president for all of his years in a row and this year is hoping to become Student body president. Well, that was before this summer when his bracelet broke and he accidentally used his powers during judo practice. No one was hurt, so his only punishment was a fine for doing so. Him quickly being outed as a hyperhuman has started a chain reaction of negative events on his life that's only started. He's joining the class because he wants to build a support network of other Hypes. He's in a position of power, financially and socially where him outing himself as a Hype has a lesser effect than it would have on others in less fortunate situations. He's trying to become a pillar in a community his family's directly opposed to and wants to work for Hyperhuman rights in society - thinking this is a good place to start. Personality ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Simply put, Marcus is a friendly, helpful and kind young man. He's got little intention of hurting anyone and cares about other people in a genuine, non fabricated way. He's a bit childish and playful and isn't above pulling pranks on people in good spirits. His one downfall is social situations is perhaps that he's too nice. His non partisan way of thinking and ideas of truth and justice might make him seem bland in a world of edgy people with very polarized opinions. He believes in protecting the weak, helping those who are down and doing everything in his power to make tomorrow a little better than today. Miscellaneous ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ His fur allergy makes him not much of an animal lover. Plays quite a bit of Super Smash Melee, well, Project M, technically. |

The initial stages and development has shown typical proficiencies such as mind reading, profound empathy, and direct thought communication. Experiments with her still in development abilities has been conducted with mixed results. These include aspects such as memory alteration, hallucinations, and shadowing—the latter involves perception denial in various forms. • Limitation(s) | Esther cannot hear the thoughts of or manipulate animals. She is unable to manipulate those with mental immunity or psychic resistance. The range at which her ability will work is sporadic. Certain helmets will block her ability. She is susceptible to psychic ‘overload’, which causes her to faint. Mind reading is restricted by language. Most individuals will feel that she is inside their head. • Weakness(es) | Esther has aphonia. It is the inability to produce voiced sound due to nerve damage linked to the larynx. It is unclear if she was born with this disability or if it happened in early infanthood. However, she understands spoken language, as her hearing is intact. Esther also knowns sign language. Most of them time she will communicate through physical action, drawing pictures, or writing. The girl is also frail. She has a meek stature that is easily shaken and disrupted. It is possible that she has hyperalgesia, which is increased sensitivity to pain. Esther is also a heavy sleeper and easily becomes sick. //Skills: • Drawing | Esther is not particularly artistic. However, years of practice with drawing pictures in order to express herself has developed some manner of aesthetic sense. Most of her drawings are quick sketches mainly used for communication, but she does have plenty of ‘complete’ works littering her room and workspace. //Paraphenalia: • Galaxy s8 | Obviously for texting and video conversations. • Notebook | Trusty pieces of paper for writing and drawing. | Appearance Details ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Various braids, glasses to see, oversized sweaters, tight jeans and leggings, brightly colored sneakers, lots of ink stains on hands, wide thighs, tiny chest, plump features. Most of Esther’s glow will follow from her expressions. Smiles and frowns, sadness and bewilderment—all of it carries their own extremes that eliminates all sense of observer interpretation. She is an open book with a font large enough for the blind. Esther does not shy away from happy returns, physical or otherwise. Character Synopsis ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Esther was born in Dresden, Germany on May the 4th. Her father was Sebastian Hermann Whäner and her mother was Lieselotte Hilde Whäner. Esther was named after her great-grandmother. Esther’s story begins with her father, Sebastian Hermann Whäner. He was born somewhere in Germany, 1955. That household slumbered upon a peculiar past and a patriarchal figure interested in experiments of the mind and human behavior. Sebastian was twelve years old in 1967, when everything changed. The following years are shadowed by strange interpretation and fractured memories, but it sparked in Sebastian a similar interest that his father had, only many times as destructive. Sebastian graduated with honors and dedicated his life to research and experimentation. Some of his pursuits and methods were rather extreme and frowned upon by colleagues. He eventually got himself ejected from that esteemed community after having exposed his terrifying ‘gift’. Years of unemployment and misery followed. Eventually, he and his wife was able to leave Germany for North America, having secured a similar line of work without previous shame. By the time Sebastian’s daughter had reached a young age, his gift had grown beyond his understanding. He had become obsessed with his own ‘legacy’ and research, convinced that his daughter carried an identical ambition. Between Esther’s seventh and thirteenth birthdays, Sebastian subjected her to a series of what has later been labeled ‘Mental Abuses’. He entered her dreams and created vast spaces of his own altered memories and visions of the future. He subjected her to daily hallucinations that were designed to change her way of thinking and feeling. Esther was never directly harmed, but her mother seems to think so, and all those who have analyzed the account concurs. Eventually, Esther’s mother severed all contacts with Sebastian through divorce and law enforcement. Esther and her mother were relocated to Crestwood Hollow after Sebastian failed to show up in court, and subsequently deemed dangerous. Esther was originally submitted to the Program for ‘memory therapy’, but she decided to stay for other reasons. Personality ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Esther communicates primarily through physical action. If it is not through sign language, it is through facial expressions, touch, and drawing and writing. This mode of communication instills the illusion of an exaggerated individual. One might even think of actors at the theatre and their overt testimonies. It used to be tiresome for Esther, but she has grown to enjoy it at times. She personally prefers communication through physical touch, especially with friends. It is one of those things that seems to have been lost in the modern age. People are so distant, so cold, so robotic—at least to Esther. Sometimes she deliberately ‘forgets’ her notebook, so that she cannot write or draw, but is forced to communication through either sign or touch. If there is anything about her ability that has affected her the most, then it is empathy. It is the one part of her extra sensory input that she does not ignore. Esther dreams of being able to work with people in the future, where she can put that part of her ability, empathy, to good use. Esther’s way of being has come to be directed by how those around her feel, their state of mind. It is almost as if she is an ‘emotional support animal’, short and cute, but a bit more complex and a bit more dangerous. Esther hopes to train herself to be able to enter other people’s dreams or create hallucinations of alternate realities in which she and another person can tackle emotional demons and regain happiness, as a form of therapy. Seeing as she cannot speak, Esther has ruled out the option of becoming a psychologist. Due to what her father did, Esther has a strict code of conduct when it comes to ‘invasive’ telepathy. She knows when a person’s sense of integrity is broken, where the line is drawn. She has never felt herself ‘power hungry’ or ‘villainous’ in the sense of wanting to know secrets about people, or to know what they think. As she does not randomly hear peoples’ thoughts, it is quite easy for her to be ‘normal’, and to communicate by other means. However, Esther does promote the use of her empathic ability, but she considers it to be non-invasive—normal people can have great empathy as well. But, when it comes to the still developing aspects of her ability, such as creating hallucinations or perception denial (shadowing), she will only test it on people who are clearly hostile. Miscellaneous ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Esther will always ‘ask’ if she can telepathically speak with a friend. If the friend agrees, that friend will hear a voice from Esther as if she was speaking, but her mouth will not move. The voice Esther uses is usually whatever female voice she likes, but never the voice of who she is speaking to. Esther is very careful when it comes to ‘invasive’ telepathy. One would have to be a diehard enemy for Esther to force herself into the mind. Esther reads and watches a lot of horror books and films. While it is mostly personal preference and interest, it is a useful abstraction to have when inserting images into someone’s mind or creating nightmare visions for the plain eye. Also, Halloween is Esther’s favorite thing ever. Everything—absolutely everything—has to be perfect and included during that time of the year. Due to her expressive nature, it can be difficult for Esther to show that she likes someone in particular without bluntly stating it through writing. To most people it will seem as if she loves them at first glance, but, of course, that is not the case. Esther has troubles with distinguishing between genuine and non-genuine affection, as she is always affectionate as a form of communication. If someone likes her, they might have to bluntly state it, just as she has to, in order for Esther to understand—unless they allow her to enter their mind and find out. Esther’s favorite sweet is Chocolate Pudding. |
