Bart made a "Hmm," At James' comment. He made a fair point, if they were watching them, planning about sneaking around was self defeating. Still, they had to communicate, and if they were openly hostile to the group, then any plan they made would necessarily be at a disadvantage. His attention turned to The Hat as he entered, and really smiled. He liked getting praise, it let him know he was doing something right, and it just felt good to know he was appreciated. He looked over at Faith worriedly though, at the mention of Golgotha and Miss Babylon. If Gio had gone to investigate that, surely their misadventure would soon be common knowledge to the other Emendators if it weren't already. Getting ahead of that would be the best thing for the two of them, he though.

He inhaled for a moment, and stared straight ahead at Faith, hoping to get her attention. If he was going to go to share this with Gil, he wanted Faiths permission, it was her fuck up too after all. Most of all, he didn't want to reveal this to the paradoxes around him. Maybe it was stupid, and maybe they'd find out anyway, but he didn't want to make himself look like the failure that he was that day. Closing the distance between Faith and himself, and quietly said to her, "We should talk." Hoping she'd be on board with coming clean. In light of recent events, that really deemed to be the only course acceptable course of action. There was no room for secrets right now.

October 31st, 1943 - To The River

Jonesy kept his hand on the door of the management's trailer but stepped to the side as three women started to walk out of the moveable building. Bare footed they stepped down, each with a wicker basket on their hips. Light airy day dresses with a slip beneath they wore as they started to walk away from the trailer, Jonesy closing the door once they were clear. They started to sing in harmony as they walked.

Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.

They walked through the area of where the carnivale was cleaning up and setting up. People among the group stopping what they were doing and gradually bringing over clothing and dropping it into the baskets as they passed.

You're mama's gone away and you're daddy's gonna stay.
Didn't leave nobody but the baby.

There was a simple smile on each of their lips as they sung, slowly collecting the laundry of the rousties and others. Hips swaying as they walked.

Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.

Some would try to talk to them but they just kept on singing together in harmony.

Everybody's gone in the cotton and the corn.
Didn't leave nobody but the baby.

Once the last item was dropped into the baskets they started moving away from the carnivale set up.

You're a sweet little baby.
You're a sweet little baby.
You're a sweet little baby.
You're a sweet little baby.

Walking across the street and looking at the kitchen house, they didn't bother walking around it.

Honey and a rock and the sugar don't stop.
Gonna bring a bottle to the baby.

Stepping into the building, they swept around those there and picked up a dirty rag and apron or two, dropping them into the baskets they were carrying.

Don't you weep pretty baby.
Don't you weep pretty baby.
Don't you weep pretty baby.
Don't you weep pretty baby.

Moving to the back door of the kitchen house before casting a glance back at those within.

She's long gone with her red shoes on.
Gonna need another lovin' baby.

Moving over the ground they walked passed the old oak tree and kept striding with hips swaying.

Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.

Passed the garages.

You and me and the devil makes three.
Don't need no other lovin' baby.

And the main house. Down towards the swamp.

Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.
Go to sleep you little baby.

Once they reached the waters edge they climbed onto the rocks and began washing.

Come on lay your bones on the alabaster stones.
And be my ever lovin' baby.

As the song stopped, it started once again.

Gilbert Summers, "The Hat"

Location: Ville au Camp (Kitchen House -> Carnival Setup)
Skills: N/A

Gilbert gave Andromeda a weary smile, nodding his head slightly as he spoke. "I am fine, thank you. I tried something foolish with my abilities and paid for it. We all have our limitations, and we all must attempt to move beyond them in our own ways. The lesson learned here is that one must be willing to accept the consequences that may accompany the attempt." It seemed that Emendators were not perfect, nor were they omnipotent, self-sufficient deities, regardless of what others may have thought of them throughout history.

Alexandra's observations were taken into consideration as well. It was an interesting concept at the every least, and not impossible. "Emendators feel a pull to one another. Eventually, we all made the choice to come together. I did feel a drawing, though it was different than that of the other Emendators. Yes Alexandra, it is possible that others like me may yet become aware of themselves. But I do not know what this is, exactly. This "Management" may very well have the ability to see into histories as I do, but it does not excuse the actions taken today."

As the discussion developed among the Paradoxes, concerning the uncertain state of these people who had dropped Evelina's name to gain entry, Gil was surprised to see a trio of women enter the Kitchen House fully uninvited and begin to see to the linens. It surprised him greatly as well when he didn't actually do anything to stop them, as if they were all suddenly powerless to raise discernible objection to strangers in their home. It was highly unlike him. Yet here he was, doing absolutely nothing while three sirens made away with the dirty laundry, traipsing through the building like they were fully comfortable doing so without so much as a "by your leave".

Enough was enough, at this point. The Paradoxes were supposed to be using this time to relax, take a break, and regroup themselves. Not stand by and allow the antagonizing actions of strangers to continue to disrupt them. And Gilbert himself had work he needed to do. The presence of this carnival and its people were cumbersome and seemingly designed to put them ill at ease. "If you would please," he started, looking back at the Paradoxes present, "continue with the plan for now. I will speak to someone in authority over there, politely if at all possible. Impolitely if it is not."

Gilbert turned and exited the Kitchen House. He walked silently and with increased stability of pace than he did earlier. Whatever affected him earlier was subsiding nicely, albeit with a reminder to not try that particular twisting of his power's intent for quite some time, by his reckoning. The Hat's face was neutral. Even friendly, as he generally seemed. He was a personable guy the vast majority of the time, if a bit toward the aloof side. He did not stop until he stood at the door to the trailer marked "Management", whereupon he gave an assertive knock. "Respectfully, we should speak about something." he stated clearly, eyeing the door with some scrutiny.

James Grady

Location: Ville au Camp (Kitchen House)
Skills: N/A

James was the kind of man who, when presented with something unexpected but not directly harmful, took a moment to sit back and observe. It was amazing what one might learn if one does just that; take in a scene as it unfolds and remain quiet. The fact that he had an expression of utter confusion helped, too. Three singing women approached the building they were in and whisked away their linens, presumably for the purpose of... washing? It was more than a little odd, and he didn't have the presence of mind to feel barged in upon until after they had left. The ordinarily boisterous man was silent for a moment or two after their departure. He looked like he wanted to say something twice, even going as far as to open his mouth wide and raise a finger into the air as if to make a point of some kind, but withdrew both times and remained quiet.

His eyes moved down to the other piece of raisin toast in his hand. James held it up and peered at its sweet and savory, lightly bronzed surface, even turning it over to make sure it looked roughly the same on both sides. Perhaps there was something on it that might have made him prone to hallucinations; mold of some kind, or maybe it secretly contained something illicit that tweaked with his perception with pharmaceutical assistance. He found nothing of the sort, obviously. Giving it a shrug, he tore another piece away with his teeth and started chewing. "Aight, so... Y'all saw that too, right? Askin' for a friend."

He couldn't refute the concerns and statements of those who had spoken up, either. Something was up, and the delicious (if potentially hallucinogenic) baked goods aside, hanging out in the Kitchen House was not doing them any more service. After Gilbert stepped out to assert himself, James looked around to everyone remaining. "Aw, hell. Let's us start up some conversations then." He stopped his train of thought for a second and looked to Andromeda. They had come back this way to avoid the carnival, owing to her understandable difficulty earlier. Quietly, he assured her, "We can get this, if'n you need a while, 'k? But think 'bout it - this might could be the first ever happenin' of a crossover comic, hmm?"

But they did otherwise have a job to do, even if that job was to talk to strangers they may or may not have superpowers. He began to exit the building. Addressing the other Paradoxes in general, he mused, "Imma go introduce myself to folks an' see what happens." The jovial wereboar slid his stetson back upon his head and nodded in the direction of the carnival. "C'mon then, let's get this over with."

Sophia Harris

Location: Ville au Camp, Kitchen House.

Sophia looked over at the door seeing Gilbert coming in and smiled slightly towards him, feeling better that they were working together on a plan together for something. She looked over at Alexandra as she mentioned maybe they were related in someway which did match what she had sort of been tuning into. As Sophia started to think more on these strangers her eyes turned towards the door of the kitchen house seeing three women entering the room. They were singing some kind of strange song which made her feel uncomfortable as she watched them take some of their dirty linens that were inside the Kitchen House.

"Yeeeaaah I saw that to, remind me to make sure I lock up my room more often from now on." Sophia said, she didn't know what to think of these people really anymore right now. But Andromeda did have a point they needed to find out more about these people and try and get along with them an maybe some would be willing to spill some information. She stood up and made sure her fake hand was securely on her now and got up and followed James out. "Lets go make nice with the really strange and creepy neighbors then." Sophia said letting out a slight sigh as she started to make her way towards the carnival grounds again, eyeing the management car as Gil started to knock on the door.

Faith Masters

Location: Kitchen House
Skills: N/A

Faith entertained all the notions and now that they had Gil with them a plan seemed to be forming. It seemed they should pair off and tackle an issue. She knew she wanted to look into Peter's grave and she assumed Bart would be willing to join her. However, Gil mentioned Galgotha and Miss Babylon she felt her cheeks flush. As far as she was aware, what happened on their mission was not knowledge that the other Paradoxes knew. Bart seemed to share her concern.

Before they could disperse, a group of women came into the house as if they owned the place and began taking the laundry like it was their job. All Faith could do was stare in awe at them as they did so. Once gone, she turned to the others. "Ok, I've experimented with mind-altering substances before, but I am not high now. What the hell was that?" The others seemed just as confused as her, so that was comforting in its own way.

Once the group began to disperse, she caught Bart. He seemed to be worried. "I think I know what you are getting at. But I think the Emendators already know what happened during our mission. After all, they gave us reviews. I would assume they told each other what occurred. My concern is why is he talking to them. He could be asking them for help in finding Eve. After all, she knows them well. In the meantime, we need to get moving. I think we need to go to Peter's grave. Maybe find out why they are interested in it."

Alexandra's brown eyes lit up, and the corners of her lips pulled up into the beginnings of a smile when Gilbert seemed to express that she was on to something. It was a bit of validation that she perhaps didn't even realize that she needed right then. "No, of course not, but it certainly could explain a few things," she agreed. These carnies were dodgy, and no flashy powers could explain away that. Actually, them having powers made them an even greater threat, especially if their powers were equivalent or greater to that of an Emendator. This really was a sucky time to only have one Emendator on the premises. The Paradoxes needed to tread carefully.

As if to punctuate that thought, three strange women came sashaying and singing their way through the Kitchen House. Alexandra glanced back over at Gilbert and the other Paradoxes with a look on her face that effectively said "What the hell?" However, it perhaps wasn't the women's uninvited presence that concerned her as much as it was the words they sung and the pointed look they gave everyone.

Her gaze didn't budge from the women until they had left the Kitchen House, and even then she felt that she had to pry her gaze away from the door in order to look back at Gil. She slowly nodded her head in response as the Emendator parted ways with them in order to go deal with this seemingly popular "Management". She took a breath, collecting her thoughts before following James's suit. She slowly made her way back towards where the carnival was setup in order to go "mingle". She vaguely wondered if she would run across Ben again, and she wasn't so sure how she felt about that. The thing was she found him easy to talk to and thus easier to be led astray by...

More and more questions, fewer and fewer answers. The news that these people were incredibly close to Emendators and like a cousin to Paradoxes made Andromeda feel more and more uneasy. It had been a family affair that had gotten her to Cirque Anomaly and caused her death - now, here she was, in another paranormal circus dealing with family issues and problems, just a new family this time around. Was it some sort of cosmic joke? Was this somehow a super in depth virtual reality type simulation test for her? She had been warned not to dwell too much on the past and she felt a bit like screaming. Why must it insist on continuing to come up, even when she tried and worked so hard to move on?

She shook her head slightly, trying to calm down a little bit. The entire voodoo of the three women just coming in unannounced wasn't helping, either. "Appreciate it, but I need to steer clear of the circus shit - Belladonna warned me about dwelling in the past. Apparently it... It might cause disasters," Andromeda admitted quietly to James. And of course, if she had a mental breakdown due to reliving the traumatic circumstances of her death, then there was the entire weather manipulation nonsense to deal with as well.

She overheard Faith mention going to Peter's grave - now that was something she felt she could do. "Hey, I can join the grave group... If you two don't mind," she then added, looking at Faith and Bart.

October 31st, 1943 - I repeat - To The River

The song continued and their voices carried from the river as the tended to the laundry. The carnivale folk were still going about and tending to things. Most of them saying it wasn't a good idea to put on a show tonight. You went dark on Halloween, you didn't perform. It was just asking for trouble and that they had already had enough trouble over the years. The ferris wheel breaking was just another nail in the coffin that they shouldn't be doing anything tonight Carny wise.

As Gilbert knocked at the door there wasn't an answer. Not even someone poking their head out to tell him to fuck off or he could wait until night fall. Just nothing. Didn't sound like anyone was moving around in there either if one were to listen. "She gave you a time, trying to change that isn't gonna get you anywhere," a female voice said from behind the tall man. Standing there about fifteen feet back from the trailer was an older woman with dark hair and weathered skin. She was dressed as poorly as the others but there were a few items of note. The shawl she had on around her shoulders was of fine silk and the gold necklace she wore was old, much older than she and of hand making. Like something from another time and place.

Taking a walk, the short distance between the two of them, towards him she stepped up the stairs and turned the knob. Pushing open the door she gestured for him to take a look inside but she didn't moved out of the way enough for someone to actually walk in unless he was to physically push her aside. Yet one could see. The trailer was empty. Just a desk and a chair. No one was in there. It didn't matter that people kept walking in and didn't walk out, no one was in there. "See, you'll just have to wait until she is ready." She paused for a moment, allowing Gilbert to look if he wanted to before pulling the door closed once again. Making her way down the steps she started away from the trailer before stopping and glancing back at him as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "Don't worry, she wouldn't have made us travel all this way if she didn't intend on talking to you."

A brow rose and she looked behind her. "Yes I know. For someone as old as he is I would expect he would have more patience," she said but it seemed she was talking to someone over her shoulder. Thing was, there was no one there. It seemed like she was talking to herself but the way she spoke it was as if she was speaking directly to some one, even acting as if she was looking at someone directly in the eye. "No, so don't," she added before looking back at Gilbert. "If you want to talk, I'll talk to you," she offered though at that point, motioning for the man to offer her an arm and start walking with her.

Sophia Harris

Location: Ville au Camp, Kitchen House. -> The Carnival Grounds
Skills: N/A

"I'm going to go ask around, if anyone of you guys wants to join me." Sophia said to the other Paradoxes as she made her way off from the kitchen house. She stopped for a moment staring directly at the woman who started to make her way up the steps to the Management Trailer, and addressed Gilbert. As Sophia listened in on the woman as she spoke towards him, she figured that Gilbert would be able to get some answers from her, if at all possible she started to wonder who the woman was talking to exactly she didn't have any kind of earpiece like people had in her timeline before the outbreak happened. Sophia sighed slightly as she ran a hand through her hair, before continuing on her way through the Carnival Grounds.

She was temped to just listen in, using her ability but decided against it right now she didn't want to get incapacitated to much as she watched the men and women there. The thought of those three women coming into the kitchen house was a little bit unnerving still to her, and wondered what they were all doing still or if they were still gathering clothes from the others as well. Sophia looked around a little bit wondering if there was something she could do looking at the people as they went about their business. Before eventually approaching the closest group to offer any help. "Is there anything I could do to help with?"

Gilbert Summers, "The Hat"

Location: Ville au Camp (Carnival Setup)
Skills: N/A

Somehow, Gilbert was not surprised. He did not possess any psychic abilities that would allow him to sense the motivations of others; were he to have such powers, there likely would not be such undercurrents of growing concern about the presence of these carnival people as existed within him then. It did not take mind reading, telepathy, nor the much-envied power of clairvoyance to guess that the person in charge wasn't going to want to speak with him. Fitting, really. He found the entire lack of exchange just another slice from the same wheel of bitter, odoriferous cheese that had been forced upon them from the minute they were allowed on the property.

Gil was fully prepared to turn his attention to whomever would care to listen as he discussed, in the extreme brief, his purpose for that particular knock on the door. It would have been loud, clear of tone and intent, and assertive. Perhaps that was why yet another representative of the carnival that he had not been introduced to as of yet chose that moment to intervene. Perhaps it was merely coincidence. In the end, it didn't really matter to Gilbert. Well, there was no reason to be rude to this lady, regardless of the conversation with entities unseen or imaginary nearby.

Gil removed his hat and addressed the woman with a polite and melodic voice. Even a charming smile. He was a friendly kind of guy, mostly. "Gilbert Summers, madame. Thank you for trying to explain the situation. I am curious to note that whomever is in charge, or whomever else you are speaking with at the moment, appears to be unable to see into the hearts and minds of men. I am here to speak about a different matter."

The prodding to offer an arm was accepted with a wink and a smile. Of course, a walk wouldn't hurt a thing, especially as Management gave absent refusal to speak with him. So long as the lady wished to walk within the confines of their setup, Gilbert was more than willing to stride quietly about the area. "I am concerned." His voice was light, with nary a piece of direct accusation aimed at the lady. "Your Management wishes to speak later tonight. I can respect this. We all have our needs to attend in the meantime. What concerns me are the disruptions to our home, before our chance to meet and have certain things discussed."

But to the point of his discussion, "If Management wishes to do more on our grounds, she may ask permission of her host. If your people need anything of us, likewise they have but to ask. Conversation, take a meal with us, share a drink or two even; I will assure that we are amicable as you are our guests. We are even curious, ourselves. I also understand that your carnival is here by invitation of Evelina Lucas. I was not made aware of this beforehand, and she is notably absent now. Whatever Evelina may have said needs to be explained and verified through me before further liberties are taken. I will continue to honor her wishes as best I can, though we need to come to a better appreciation of one another before a misunderstanding spoils what could be a very edifying friendship. I genuinely hope we have not wasted each other's time. It would be a pity." There was no trace of sarcasm nor pride in his statement. He remained as he generally portrayed himself to the world: open, easygoing, yet assertive.

James Grady

Location: Ville au Camp (Kitchen House)
Skills: N/A

It was a long shot to ask Andromeda to return to the carnival grounds so soon after leaving. James knew that. He nodded slowly at the pale lady with a look of non-judgemental understanding on his face. "Ain't no thing, Miss Andy. You do you, we got this. I'm sure the Big Guy's gonna understand just fine." He was talking, of course, about Gilbert. It gave James a mote of worry that there was only one Emendator left on the grounds, not to mention only a small group of Paradoxes. Their numbers had been lessened fairly recently, as well. It seemed to the ebon-skinned southern gentleman that this was an added bit of disadvantage, considering the lessons on teamwork that had been drilled into them over the long months of their training. Maybe their natural predisposition toward independent action would be of use that day, rather than the hindrance it was sometimes portrayed as in hindsight. A happy medium, maybe? So long as they were out there, taking care of what needed to be taken care of, James was good either way.

Walking back into the area set aside for the carnival, James found himself drawn to the wreckage of the big Ferris Wheel. He wasn't quite as up close and personal to it as some of his teammates were when it collapsed, and the lure of it was strong. This was where the entity referred to as Management made a public appearance, or as public as one can be on the Plantation grounds, and demonstrated what could only be called power. The altering of reality based upon what appeared to be simple willpower. James let his mind wrap around what had occurred just earlier as he stared at the wreckage.

So long as he was out and about among the carney folk, he kept an eye peeled for anyone familiar to him from that incident - the short fellow who seemed to run things in the absence of Management, or the younger man who made the climb to help his friend dangling off the side. Hell, or that guy - who was raining blood while hanging on for dear life as his precious wheel collapsed under its own weight. James located a passerby and got out a quick question, "Hey, that fella what was hurt from before, is he okay? Know where I could find him?" Maybe the man could use a cup of coffee. Or someone to vent to who wasn't someone he saw everyday.

Bart watched the women walk through the house, with a kind of silent bemusement. That was odd for sure, but he didn't interfere. It seemed their new guests were intent on doing their laundry. Now, Bart wasn't paranoid per say, but he didn't know exactly how to feel about that. On one hand, they had to focus on Peter's grave site and what was going on there, but on the other, them collecting their clothes and walking around the grounds like a trio out of horror movie should probably be investigated. He looked between Faith and them, and sighed. There already was a group on their way to the grave, and he thought that this might merit some attention.

Bart grimaced, "You might have a point." He exhaled, phrasing things carefully, not wanting to be to explicit with Andromeda listening in on them. He quickly turned to her "I'm not sure if we want to go there yet," He said thoughtfully " I think it might suit us best if we looked into those women. Other people will undoubtedly be checking out the grave site, I'm not sure the same can be said for them." He reasoned. He wasn't going to check them out alone though, Gil had specifically told them all to stick close. He motioned his head towards the Kitchen House door, hoping they'd both agree with his train of thoughts and look with him. "What'd you two think?"

Alexandra took in all the activity in and around the carnival setup with a sweep of her gaze. She came to a stop in the middle of all it. Letting out a small sigh, she put her hands on her hips as she tried to decide where she wanted to start first. Everyone seemed to be equally busy setting up for whatever show they had in store for Ville au Camp. It was sketchy at best, really.

She crossed her arms over her chest and absentmindedly tapped one of her feet. Her gaze finally settled on the tent with the sign The Cooch on it. She tilted her head a bit to the side, as if deciding whether or not to try their first. Eventually, she just shrugged her shoulders and made her way over there. She figured it was a good enough place as any to start.

"Hello?" she called out as she neared the tent. She waited a moment for a response, before peeking her head inside. Her gaze settled on two women, Rita Sue and Libby. "Hi. Sorry for the intrusion. I just wanted to see if there was anything I could get you ladies, or if there was any way I could be of help?"

Andromeda Aldrich

Location: Ville au Camp - Kitchen House -> Carnival Set Up
Skills: Alertness

Hearing that Bart didn't seem interested in going to the grave, it crushed Andromeda's spirits a little bit. It seemed like a good idea to her. If they were asking about the grave site, maybe they'd find some information if they went down in that direction. None of the Carnival people especially seemed like they were going to open up to them and once more, Andy doubted that her going to talk to them would be a good idea. They didn't need her inability to let go of the past to summon up a Destruere somehow.

"Alright, well, good luck with that," Andromeda said. They weren't supposed to split up - they were supposed to use the buddy system, basically - but she knew her mental limits. Her eyes glanced out the backdoor before something hit her like a jolt of electricity. The women who had come through, singing to them, and the way their eyes had lingered on the group... She remembered the song lyrics and slowly began to put two and two together. "Gilbert!" Andromeda called out, running out of the Kitchen House and towards the carnival set up.

"...Can I borrow you for a moment? It's important," she said once she caught up to the man, hoping he had a moment. She had something to tell him that could be time sensitive - she wasn't sure how time sensitive worked inside of a time loop, but it didn't matter.

Faith Masters

Faith REALLY wanted to investigate Peter's grave. Regardless of who else wished to see it, she knew in her gut that it was a good lead. The girls were odd, to be sure, but she doubted anything would come from investigating them. As far as she knew, they were just part of the recently admitted circus. "I really want to investigate the grave, Bart. I have a feeling it is really important. I know the others want to as well, but more eyes the better right? And if it doesn't pan out, we can then investigate those spooky girls. Ok?"

Faith was about to address Andromeda, but Bart's decision to not check out the grave caused her to leave. Faith had no problem with the girl, despite the fact that she desperately needed the sun (though it was probably too late for that now). "Well shoot, there she goes. Whatever, she can meet us up later if she wants. I went to you Bart because out of everyone here you are the one I trust the most. Or rather, the one I know I can work with without wanting to strangle them. Up to you, but I think the grave is a sure thing."

October 31st, 1943 - Listen Little Baby

The small group of non-descript rousties that Sophia was speaking to eyed her for a few minutes. It seemed that the rousties were all men in the area but that really wasn't surprising for that day and age. It was still a time for men to do the heavy lifting. Even if most were either too young or too old to really be there. Granted there were a few females in the group. It was the middle of World War II, so most of the able aged men were over seas. "Um, not sure, guess you could grab that," one of the guys said pointing to a wooden crate that bits of splintered wood and steel in it. It wasn't exceptionally heavy as you couldn't fit too much in it because of all the bends and odd shapes. There was no tetrising this mess. "Just follow us this way," he added pointing to a truck over in the distance.

The woman chuckled at Gilbert, casting a glance over her shoulder now and again. Nodding her head and giving this knowing "uh huh" from time to time. "No, I was right. You have no patience," she said after he finally finished speaking. "Not even enough to ask a name of me or introduce yourself." She gave him a look, one that a mother would give a child when she knew she was right. Chuckling she walked slowly, taking her time and breathing in the air. She seemed to be listening to something and nodding as she walked. "No one said she invited us, you were told we were here looking for her," she eventually corrected Gilbert. She looked at him, giving him that motherly look once again. And she kept walking, nodding to something before she spoke once more. "You were told she would speak this evening but you had another matter on your mind. So yes, you are impatient and rather uppity. Not something I would have expected from you. And damn long winded. Lot of bullshit spouted and not a single question asked. Yer the one spoiling thangs hun. So let's try this again..."

There was a long pause as she stood there and then held her hand out to him with a smile coming to her lips. "Hi, I'm Ruthie, nice to meet ya," she said in a welcoming tone. The smile held there even as she turned her head slightly to speak over her shoulder to nothing. "I'll get to that in a minute so just shut yer tea sipping trap."

The man stopped and glanced around a few times. "Um, Jonesy's his name. He's probably over in Management's trailer right now. He's doing good though man, thanks for checking in," he said as he pulled out a well worn rag and wiped his hands off. They were about as worn as the rag he was using. "Don't be worryin' none, Jonesy's tough and Ben's got the mans back." Hearing a whistle the man jerked his head to the side. The group that Sophia was offering to help was waving him over. He gave a holler to them and a nod to James before running off and helping lift a beam that needed to be moved.

Over in the cooch tent, when Alexandra peeked her head in she would see both Libby and Rita Sue on the stage, the seemed to have a frame between them and were practicing doing mirrored dances off the other to some music playing on a wind up phonograph. "Damn it Libby, you gotta do exactly what I do. It ain't a mirror if you don't do what I do."

"Hard to imagine me looking like you," Libby snapped.

"Well trust me girl, it is," Rita snapped back before both of them turned and looked over at Alexandra. "Well hey there, come on in," she said with a smile and waved the girl over. Libby rolled her eyes a bit.

"Careful she's looking fer a third," Libby seemed to warn as she sat down on the stage and let her feet dangle over the end as she lit up a cigarette.

The older woman looked over at Andromeda as she came over and chuckled. "Hi, I'm Ruthie," she said introducing herself.

Gilbert Summers, "The Hat"

Location: Ville au Camp (Carnival Setup)
Skills: N/A

Gilbert perked an eyebrow at the offered hand and accompanying words. He shook his head rather sheepishly and took her hand, "Gilbert Summers, madame." he repeated, "Thank you for trying to explain the situation." It was true, in his rush to express his feelings about what had been going on about Ville au Camp, he had lacked a certain sense of welcoming propriety necessary to ask the name of the person to whom he was speaking. "It is likewise a pleasure to meet you, Ruthie." Nodding his head, he continued, "I do apologize for my impatience and boorish manners. You are our guests, of course."

His eyes flickered briefly back to Management's trailer. Something ha caught his attention, a detail that he had missed when he was standing in front of it before. "Eternia Siduri", the name on the sign. There was something about it that struck him, in connection to the memory of he voice that penetrated his head from earlier. Familiar somehow. It began to nag at him; name and voice, voice and name, repeating in the back of his head as if he already knew he answer but it refused to birth itself as a fully realized idea. While not truly put out of his mind, he did attempt valiantly to shift it to the side as he processed what else Ruthie had said to him. Among this being that they were, in fact, not there under the invitation of The Dice. That particular misunderstanding was notable. It changed things a bit.

A voice broke his concentration, one more recently familiar, calling his name. It was Andromeda, and she seemed to have a sense of urgency about her. He listened to what she had to say and turned back to Ruthie, "I do apologize for my abruptness, madame, but my pupil requires my attention. I do hope we can pick this up in a little while. Perhaps move past a few things." He took a step toward the paler Paradox and answered, "Yes, of course you may borrow me for a moment. What is it?" In the event that it was something she wished to discuss with some privacy, he pointed toward the outskirts of the carnival setup and gave a questioning look.

James Grady

Location: Ville au Camp (Carnival Setup)
Skills: N/A

"Jonesy, huh?" inquired James aloud. It was more of a statement, really, to let the man who had stopped to speak with him that he was listening. At mention that Management's trailer was the most likely place that he would be at that moment, James called off his little search. There was no way he was going to seek the man out based on curiosity of he was in a meeting with the person in charge. And if he was meeting with the person in charge, then obviously he was upright and in good condition, he figured, unless that trailer doubled up as the infirmary. It was an idea that he highly doubted.

So long as his excuse for popping into the carnival had been exhausted, he felt a little foolish just standing there. At the same time, he wasn't about to go knocking on the door to Management's trailer himself just to say hi. Instead, he decided to give a little bit of a hand to the guy who was kind enough to answer his question. The laborers seemed to be lacking stout men around his age or younger, which probably made a lot of the muscle work more intense. Shrugging, he fell in line behind the roustabout. Might as well lend a hand. Jame was surprised to note that Sophia had decided to join up with these people as well, and as they were supposed to keep something of the "buddy system" going, it felt like the right thing to do to join her.

James grabbed a part of the beam that needed to be lifted and gave it a heave, asking, "Hey, y'all don't mind if'n I lend a hand here, do ya?"

Sophia Harris

Location: Ville au Camp, The Carnival Grounds
Skills: Sense Acuity

Sophia nodded towards the group of men and smiled slightly. "Sure thing." Sophia said, as she walked over towards the small splintered looking crate and grunted ever so slightly as she tried to lift it up. It was pretty hard to get a good grip with only a single working hand as Sophia accidentally dropped it onto the ground. Luckily there wasn't anything that got spilled out of the crate as Sophia then went in for the pick up again. This time she managed to get it up with no problem, as she adjusted her grip a little bit, she started to follow the group of men towards the truck that they had pointed out for her to drop the crate off.

She decided to try and listen in on anything going on near Peter's Grave since they seemed to have some kind of deep interest in it, but she sadly couldn't pick up anything on with Sense Acuity and sighed slightly. That's when she heard James' voice as she looked over towards him and gave him a friendly smile. "Hey James, I certainly don't mind the help at all." She said towards him, as she continued to follow the group of men towards the truck. "So, what does Management do exactly?" Sophia finally asked, figuring that maybe they had some kind of information.

Alexandra Andonova

When you meet someone for the first time,
that's not the whole book. That's just the first page.
- Brody Armstrong

Location: Ville au Camp - Carnival Setup (The Cooch Tent)

A smile came to Alexandra's features as she was greeted warmly. Well, by Rita at least. She walked over to the stage when the woman waved her over, her gaze briefly taking everything in before settling back on Rita. She glanced sharply over at Libby, and the other woman's words elicited a light a chuckle from her.

"Vell, believe it or not, once upon a time I was in a circus," she replied with a smile. However, it soon faded from her lips as she was flooded by the bittersweet memories of her previous life. She looked down at the ground, shaking her head a bit sadly. Her countenance was more serious, if not a touch solemn, when it came back up.

"But that was ages ago, another life really, I doubt I vould remember much of it now," she added, before changing the subject. "But, I'm not here to talk about me. You're the guests here, after all. Is there anything I can do for you two?" She smiled at the two women, but it was perhaps a bit more forced this time around.

Andromeda Aldrich

Location: Ville au Camp - Carnival Set Up
Skills: N/A

Andromeda hesitated for a moment. She wasn't sure whether or not it would be a good idea to reach out and shake Ruthie's hand. The old woman seemed nice and she wanted to greet her properly in return, but she was also simultaneously worried that she would accidentally infect her with some sort of disease. The entire carnival was making her feel a little bit jumpy. Andromeda then took a bit of a breath and reached her hand out, deciding to have faith in her abilities over her powers. "Nice to meet you - I'm Andromeda, but you can call me Andy if you'd like."

She then turned slightly to Gilbert, once Ruthie had either accepted the handshake or not. "Well, it's... It's about Evelina," Andromeda told Gilbert quietly. She felt it was best to just get it out at this point and as they had already pointed out earlier in the kitchen house, who knew if the carnival people had enhanced hearing abilities like Sophia's. "I think I might know why she went - and potentially... maybe even where," she admitted.

She paused for a moment, like a student about to submit a guess to a challenging problem. "The women who came into the kitchen house, singing... If you think about the lyrics of their song, it... it explains a lot. Lady Lucas was becoming more withdrawn and... Well... I think that the reason she left without wanting to be followed was that she felt him again."

Andromeda bit her lip slightly. "I think she went after Drem."

Bart frowned, but acquiesced, saying "Alright, sure, we'll go to the grave." He was surprised to see Andromeda walk off at the first sign of disagreement. He guessed she had her own goals, which was fine, but if she had stayed a bit longer they would've all gone together. He smiled at Faith's reason for wanting to go with him, "Consider getting on better terms with the others though, we'll all need to have each others backs eventually." He suggested. He couldn't blame her for wanting to work with him though, with the amount of training they did together, they were probably the best pair of Paradoxes on the camp right now.

He started the way out of the Kitchen House, and headed down the road on the way to the Barn. The presence of the Carney's had put him off, for two main reasons. For one, though the Emendators seemed very knowledgeable, this seemed to be a gap in what they knew about the world. For all their knowledge of different words and timelines, this caught them off guard. The second cause for worry followed from the first; To him, the existence of Emendators was akin to meeting gods. It shook up his worldview so thoroughly, and was incompatible with his previous understanding of how things worked. What if this was another step up in the multiversal hierarchy? He'd heard the name "Management" tossed around, so maybe that's exactly what this was. It would certainly explain how they managed to enter the timeloop. Granted, this was all conjecture, but it was food for thought.
