Kaylee Everose

Interaction: Coleman St John @Pilatus

Kaylee nodded and left it alone. He’ll tell me when he wants to. She grinned at the sounds of people having a good time but not too good of a time as they went into The Blue Dahlia. Wonder if he can dance? Best time to find out. This band was a good call.

She smiled at him as he told her to relax. “I know it looks like I can’t do that but I can. I am. So just for the record do you dance?” Kaylee was interested and since this date was going so well she decided that a second one would be nice. There was something there between them and she wanted to explore it.

The waitress that had taken their drink order came over and asked if she wanted another. Kaylee indicated the water and nodded. “So if you could have dinner with anyone living or dead who would it be? Why that person? What would you eat? What would you discuss? Language is not a problem they would understand you and you them.” She enjoyed these topics it made people think and express themselves. She tilted her head questioningly. She wondered if his answer would scratch the surface or if he’d consider it and dig deep.

The waitress brought her a bottle of water and Kaylee paid her. Collecting the cash the waitress wandered off to another table. Kaylee opened the water and sipped it leaning forward toward Cole intently her focus on him solely.

She saw his aura play here and there. A little flash then to sink back inside. Random intervals no real pattern to it. It was fascinating. As if more of a living thing than most auras. Most auras only moved when emotions were high with the person. Cole’s seemed to have a mind of its own. She’d only seen one other person with an aura that moved like that. The O’Brian girl, Uná. Interesting to say the least but mostly different.

Thinking about the students brought up that Ashford had asked about putting a couple of students on a transfer to the Xavier institute. The young boy Sy and Sally. Sally needed someone that was more in line with her power base and who better to train her than Xavier. Xavier also had more dealings with the Shiar than anyone else and had expressed an interest in meeting the boy. Khloe's family had reached out and they wanted her to come back and do a little more with her idol career. She'd let all of them know and they could decide if they wanted to leave with an open slot to come back to the institute at a later time.

She shut down that line of thinking and went back to paying attention to Cole. Who unsurprisingly had waited till she had his attention once again. Kaylee smirked and laughed softly. "I'm back. Go a head."

Aya was vaguely aware of a presence hovering close to her, a palm resting on her forhead. She heard names she recognized... Jason, Heidi... her classmates.

Pain lanced through her skull and Aya curled deeper into herself, gritting her teeth.

There was another voice. It flowed like music, dipping and weaving through her mind, something familiar in the cadence of it. Finally, Aya forced her eyes open. Her vision still swam and doubled, but she could barely make out a figure hovering above her, the warmth of its skin on her face. It was dark wherever she was, a farcry from the light and bustle of the city street. Aya squinted, fighting against the pain to get her senses to work. The ringing was slowly subsiding but her limbs still felt ill-fitted for her body, too heavy, too long, too tight, like nothing fit the way it was supposed to.

"Wait," she managed in a small, strained voice. They were planning to go to Nocturn themselves. "They have guns." Jason and Heidi had powers, sure. But Aya didn't want them going in blind and getting shot. Wincing, Aya squeezed her eyes shut again against the headache. "They're waiting for us." Rubbing her eyes again she tried once more to open them. It was still so dark. "Where -- where are we? Is the monster still there? Where's everyone else?"

“Yeah, I dance,” Cole replied with a smirk that implied where the rest of his tone was going, “About as well as you say you can relax.” He studied her face cooly for a moment from across the table letting the jab playfully sink in some. He could see her mind drifting off some towards the students as usual. She had a clear tell when they were on her mind. The past few days had her busy taking care of transfers and other drama which usually seemed to revolve around the the same five or six “frequent flyers” as they came to borrow from the police slang. However, he knew how difficult it could be to detach from work and that it was never really possible in either of their respective roles. Looking away from her briefly as the last vestiges of day were officially gone and ambient night lights covered the city, he could sense the familiar, lingering premonition still in the back of his mind. Sometimes it would hang in his consciousness for days, weeks even, a slowly forming picture that never went away until it was satisfied. He’d never told anyone about it, but he’d never met anyone like Kaylee or the other students and staff of the Institute. Somehow it remained hidden from their heightened awareness.

The nature of her question allowed him the opportunity to hide it away in consideration and he rubbed at his stubble a bit listening to the ambient music being played, His expression fell noticeably as the song changed. “God, I hate that song...” He said with a small shake of his head. The feeling in the back of his mind was building with the haunting growl of Layne Staley’s voice connecting down to the pit of his heart like a roiling fire in the distant night. He drank from his own water and glanced around slowly keeping his expression neutral and returning his thoughts to her question. “Tough one though,” He said, thinking. “This sounds like one of your entrance exam questions.” A few names played through his head, all truthful candidates to the prompt, but he wasn’t going to let her off so easy by only mentioning one. In the back of his mind he reached for the biggest contrast he could come up with just to see her reaction. “Carl Sagan probably would be one… and Jesus? Can I say Jesus or is this another trick question?” His smirk returned. “Oh, and Jimmy Buffett too, that would be fun.”

Cleo D'Nile

Interacting With: Drake @Marrok; Nik @webboysurf
Mention: Nathan.

And so it was on ‘On like Donkey Kong’ Cleo thought to herself after seeing captain flame on after several? a couple? Of attempts to light himself up, it seems he was confused of her bleeding arm. “I got bloody shot” for now though, she needed to keep her mind of the pain as it would only cause her more distraction while the adrenaline was alcohol was enough to have her at least do something stupid to somehow take on this thing.

After observing Drake launch a drink at the beast, such a waste of perfectly good alcohol of something, he then did his attack doing some sort of Kame Hame. Cleo had a confused look about her for a moment. “Dude did you just really quote Dragon Ball Z?” cheekily grins before being distracted by the beast now being lit up like a Christmas tree.

The things really did get weirder, by this point Nathan and Nik had joined into the fight, the melee combat had begun and by this point was perfect for Cleo’s drunken but actually sound plan that formulated in her mind, right now she was forgotten about, unnoticed, which was what she needed for this to work.

Again she delayed with what Nathan was holding, it looked like a blade of blood ‘Ewe gross’ she thought to herself. Or maybe she was just imagining some fucked up shit right now. But both men were working together to the beat of the music now less. Cleo smiled. “Now you see me” she said before disappearing from sight for a few moments, flanking sneaking into position before picking up speed to the beast right.

Sliding in onto the dancefloor from the beast right, Cleo literally slide in on her side, not that really anyone could see this amazing piece of mastery from the blonde, right up to the side of the beast’s leg, stopping at a kneeling on one knee position before driving the broken piece of wooden leg right into the back of the beast’s right leg. Cleo smiled at her own little triumph, surely it would slow it down she hoped….

Again another sharp pain from her arm distracted her and she placed her hand on it to apply pressure, it was only at that moment she realized, she was no longer invisible and slowly turned to look up at the monster. “Oh Shit.” She said under her breath at the realization as a worried smile appeared on her lips. “Uhm… Hi.” The music was loud so it’s more than likely no one could hear her, or her hear them, but for some stupid reason Cleo froze in that moment.

Kaylee nodded. “Astronomer, the son of God and a singer. Interesting. Is this one dinner or three different ones? Okay so I’m picking one although you have one of my favorite people there. Try and guess who that is.” She smiled at him and pressed on. Giving him a really interesting clue with her person that she was going to say.

Looking at his drink she decided to go with… “Alexander the Great because I want to know how he did it, it being the conquering of the world as he saw it; or at least that would be the starting question. I’d introduce him to Tai food...no Indian food. It’s the question that is supposed to make you think.” She heard him say that he hated “Rooster”.

She raised an eyebrow at the response. “Rooster? I take it’s not from the original reason the song was written. For one of the bands family that was in Vietnam and he was called Rooster cause he was the guys that totted the machine gun and cut down others left and right. Must have known someone that decided that was their nickname and he was apparently a jerk.”

A loud bellow came from the creature as people ran from it. It watched as who it was supposed to fetch was taken out of sight. It roared and shrieked at the humans.

As they shot at it hissing laughter from it rang across the overly noisy bar. As soon as they stopped shooting in a blur of speed the humans with guns were felled. The panic of people vacating confused the creature as it tried to focus after the first threat was dealt with. The music from the speakers disorienting to it and it turns back to where it first appeared and paused as if scenting the air.

As the fire roars at it the creature narrowly dodges it but still is singed by the flames. Hissing it turns to deliver a solid blow to the origin. A human? Not possible.

Suddenly stabbed with a stake by a slip of a girl. Fine it would deal with these things then go after the target. Grabbing the girl he threw her at the fire causing one. He could catch her or not it didn’t care. The wounds from the bullet holes healing as the bullets were pushed out of its skin and fell to the floor as they did so. The burn wasn’t at the point of healing yet but was starting to blister and be an angry red.

It looked at the others and hissed as they watched it. The one word came out in a discordant sound as if hundreds of voices shrieked, whispered, yelled and spoke that one word…

Nik and Nathan looked each other in the eye as they heard the voice calling out the name of their shared friend. Nathan turned back to look at the beast, while Nik pulled out a small bag of marbles. He had a fear that things would turn out this way, and so he pulled two of the small metal spheres and began to charge them up. They both began to glow bright red, with small flickers of energy crackling around them like fire.

Nathan clutched at the knife made of blood in his hands, surprised at the speed and versatility of the monster in front of him. His breathing was ragged and almost primal in nature with every muscle in his body tensing up in the heat of the moment. His arm slashed the construct into the beast's side, trying to rip into its flesh quickly and precisely before quickly ducking backwards, backpedaling to avoid a potential slash from the being.

Nik took Nathan's opening as an opportunity to hurl the two marbles towards the beast with a single throw. As soon as the beads impacted against the Sluagh's skin, they burst into a large combined incendiary explosion. Immediately afterwards, Nik called out to his allies. "I think that confirms that this thing's Una's. Has anyone seen where she is?" We need to wake her up!"

Drake looked to Cleo and her wound and reality began to set in, his adrenaline offering some clarity of thought. "Dude did you just really quote Dragon Ball Z?" Drake's answer was just a crooked, uncomfortable smile. People were getting hurt. The inebriation was taking a turn from jovial to aggressive.

"Has anyone seen where she is? We need to wake her up!" Nik's concern was real. The bloodshed was real.

Drake blinked for a moment. "She left with the vampire..." Drake offered, his voice a little faint as he tried to reanalyze the situation he found himself in. His gaze went from the demonic looking entity to the back door. His eyes squinted forcefully as he demanded his will to focus. No more time for games. Though his mind was forcefully trying to regain composure, his body was still at the mercy of the chemicals he ingested as well as the sleep deprivation. His vision was blurred and his balance was lacking. If Nik was right, there was no killing this thing. Not really. The only end to it was through Uná.

"We gotta..." He swayed as he tried to stand still, his eyes still bouncing from the back door to the creature. "...split up. Gotta go get Uná. Gotta distract the Big Ugly. Take Cleo. Get her out of here. I can be distragen... distratcher... I can keep It busy." With that, his fists went flame on once more, his glassy bloodshot eyes narrowed at the Thing, as his brows jutted forward. His jaw lowered, exposing his lower teeth in a silent snarl. There wasn't a lot left in the tank, but enough to go out with a bang, if it came to that.

In an attempt to issue an intimidating challenge, Drake called out to the creature. "Fucks with me."

Heidi Williams

Interacting With: Ayel @Dezuel; Jason @Eric Horst; Aya @c3p-0h

Heidi had backed away from the group, so that she could position herself to be able to see every word anybody says. So, she lip-read her way through Ayel's speech, while making sure she didn't miss anything from Aya or Jason. Ayel's plan was sound. Well, to her mind, it wasn't so much a plan as some stating of the obvious and a few good ideas. Aya did seem shaken, and already proven her mutation to be ineffective in this situation. Jason could help with the club, but he'd be even more of a help if the rest of them were indeed going to possible hostile territory. They had to decide now. The longer they waited, the more danger Uná would be in.

"I know exactly where it is, and could give directions if I come with you. It's east of here, besides a few deviations. I could give you full directions here but it would be easier and faster if I came with you, and you wouldn't make any mistakes. I agree that Aya stays here." Heidi replied, before looking over to Aya. Jason's back was to her from here, as he turned to her, so she couldn't tell whether or not he said anything, but she could read Aya's lips from here. Heidi had assumed they would have guns, but this was confirmation. That they were waiting for the group was more concerning news. Did they know Uná was a mutant? Were they mutants? Heidi let Jason answer Aya's questions, and looked around, before looking at Ayel, as she'd want to read his reply to her question.

"How will we get there? Do you have a car? Getting there on foot will take too long."

"Pretender hunters laying snares, thinking they can catch a deer or two. Not ever considering that in the forest, they are not the only hunters." Ayel tried to reassure Aya, as he moved towards Heidi. "Time is of the essence, we must make haste. Every moment wasted is a moment longer your friend is in danger." The blonde man nodded towards the much shorter Heidi.

"That's right Heidi, it would take too long on foot. Yet there are swifter ways to traverse our beautiful world." He gave a soft smile and then tried to walk up and place his arm around Heidi's waist and back. "I suggest you hold on. It may get abit windy." Ayel began to shortly afterwards lift himself off the ground, with Heidi aswell unless she would struggle and try get out of his grasp. The hooded man gave a look back to Aya and Jason.

"You two stay behind and let your other friends know what has happened. Tell them to proceed with outmost caution."

Ayel waited to hear Heidi's instructions as to how to get to the place, as he gradually levitated higher and higher up. There was surely going to be all manner of problems, if there were guns involved then it was likely humans behind it. Seldom would those amongst their kind turn to using human weaponry, not when having been bestowed with the power to be a god.

Ayel's metaphor concerned Heidi, as her mind over-analysed it. There were going to the enemy, hat was true. They'd probably be victorious unless there are a lot of men there, or they have their own mutants. But even so, choosing a hunter metaphor over any other possible scenario was concerning. Did he see himself as a predator and the kidnappers as his prey? Was he planning on killing? If he was, Heidi would have to stop him. There was a lot to worry about. They were heading towards a group of armed opponents who knew they were coming, probably have knowledge of mutants, might have a mutant in their ranks, and to add to all that, Heidi would have to keep an eye on Ayel's actions too.

Ayel started to provide his answer to the transportation problem, but then placed his had around Heidi's waist, and told her to hold on. This didn't take a genius to figure out, and Heidi braced herself for flight. When they started to lift off the ground, she grabbed handfuls of his shirt and clung on tight. Clearly both nervous from flying, and embarrassed from being held in such a manner, she couldn't look less comfortable. Se gave an apologetic glance to Jason. They didn't even get to have any time together to have their...date...thing? Nothing had gone to plan tonight.

"Alright. From here, you'll want to head southeast, in the same direction as that factory in the distance. Also, I'll just get this out the way now. Don't kill anyone. We should be able to resolve this without taking lives. Therefore we must."

As soon as Heidi had told Ayel in which direction to go, he began to fly in that direction. Being able to get there by air would save alot of effort having to follow the various streets. "Nay need to feel embarassed." The blonde said in a low manner to Heidi, trying to get eye-contact with her. Whomever had taken this Una, were likely humans. Humans kidnapping his fellow kind, this was not new to him. Though upon hearing Heidi's words of not killing anyone, Ayel opened his mouth to reply to her.

"Do you want to rescue your friend? If so, you've ought to purge your mind of any doubt and hesitation. These people have taken your friend, and whom knows what they've done with her. She is still alive however, I know that much. Otherwise they would not wait for more to come." Ayel said in a soft, reassuring tone of voice. One which Heidi wouldn't be able to hear. He set his sight ahead towards the direction they were flying towards, and continued speaking.

"If you hesitate to destroy an evil, if you do not seize the moment when it presents itself. Then perhaps you will be the one dying instead, or one of your friends. Actions have consequences, nay matter how much someone might wish to solve things peacefully. The real world isn't as kind as the world in the fairytales. What will stop these people from doing what they've done anew? If not us, what will? Could you live knowing you could have ended a future disaster if only you would had been able to pull the trigger? Though by such a time, it would be useless to look back. You cannot go back in time to fix things. That's why you must make the right choice, take the right path to begin with. With no hesitation." Ayel exhaled softly as they were flying, the wind not as violent as he had thought. "Sometimes we are left with cruel choices, yet even so we've have to chose. My advice is to make up your mind before the scenario present itself before you. One may not be able to foresee the future, but one may indeed prepare for it. So what kind of future do you want Heidi? One where these thugs roam free to continue their wicked work? Or a safe future without them as a threat."

The blonde man gave a soft smile to Heidi, looking at her while they were getting closer to their destination.

"They will expect you. They want to capture you and your friends, that is why they have taken this Una. It is as plain as day. For what purpose? To weaponize you most likely, or outright gather you in order to kill you. How much blood do these captors have on their hands now, or could have on their hands if they are not stopped? Do you really want to know? Once we arrive on the scene, I want you to stay hidden. Watch and memorize their looks and weaponry. When the rest arrive, you will give them the intel they need to proceed, lest they dash into the darkness. Knowledge is power after all, I am certain you should know this better than anyone, Heidi?" Ayel had a slight upturn form at the corner of his mouth.

"However... they do not expect..." The blonde said, his smirk forming into a grin. "Me." The dark clothed man took a better hold of Heidi to make sure she would not fall, as they were quite the distance up into the air. Strands of his long blond hair flickered in the wind and his hood fell back from the wind blowing.

"I'll make them run out of bullets to fire. You'll make it your priority to guide the rest into whatever place we'd be to enter. Your goal is getting Una out of there. Leave the captors to me, I shall draw their undivided attention, perhaps a lesson in nature science would do them well. Aswell as whomever is pulling their strings, if you pull a doll hard enough the puppeteer might appear. As the curtains are closing, some would do anything necessary to extend their act and time upon the stage. Yet what is a play without some drama and tragedy, let's make certain this very lethal play will not have a tragic ending shall we? Rescue Una and the coming applause shall drown the wicked."

Aya, still in pain and disoriented, couldn't do much but watch as the stranger whisked Heidi away, up into the air. She bit her lip. They weren't prepared. She needed to tell the others, she needed --

A wave of pain shot through her head and down her spine. Aya sucked in a breath, squeazing her eyes shut. She pressed the heel of her palm against her temple. Aya didn't even know where she was, she remembered. Forcing an eye open, she ran her other hand along the wall, using it to support herself as she tried to find the door. It was close enough. Aya stumbled out into the open night air. Immediately a weight lifted from her chest. She hadn't realized how claustrophobic she'd felt in that building.

The bright LA lights shined, illuminating the road. Avalon was across the street. They hadn't moved her very far, at least. There was a crash. Shouts, a roar, and the hiss and crackle of fire. The Sluagh. Aya had to help. She had to --

She tottered forward in her heeled boots, squinting against the neon lights. Aya entered the club, a blast of hot, dry air hitting her face. Cleo, Nik, and Drake were there, hurling words and attacks at the Sluagh that just seemed to shrug off every blow. Aya squeaked and ducked down behind a toppled table as Nik threw explosions that rocked the building.

Uná... Heidi and the stranger... guns... urgency and panic swirled the thoughts in her head, making the different thoughts impossible to pick out. Her head pounded. Her limbs still didn't quite fit right. She didn't know what she could do. What could she do? She wasn't a fighter, she wasn't brave, she didn't belong here.

And yet.

Aya bit her lip, wincing at the sounds of the fight. Drake was slurring out a challenge. They weren't equipped to deal with this. How had this night become such a mess? She needed... she needed --

Aya stood up from behind the table, only stumbling a little from the surge. "Sluagh!" Aya called out before she fully knew what she was doing. Her voice stopped in her throat. She glanced at Drake, like he could somehow help her. She looked back at the monster. "I -- I know where Uná is!" Aya prayed she hadn't just made the biggest mistake of her life.

Getting eye contact with Heidi wasn't very hard, as she was already watching his face to make sure she didn't miss anything he said. She didn't reply to his reassurances, however. It wasn't just the embarrassment that was making her behave the way she was. Heidi was not a good flyer. Her mind would overthink and wonder and never fail to remind her of the dangers of falling. That said, it was also embarrassing to be held like this. She wasn't comfortable with it but it had to be done for the sake of rescuing Uná.

"I don't have any doubt or hesitation," Heidi answered. "Or rather, I have too much. That's just how my mind works. I can think about something, taking days of contemplation, in a split-second. I've already been thinking bout this matter a lot. If I had no other choice, and that is seldom the case when you can processes so many possibilities from one single action, then I would go through all seven stages of grief by the time I finish pulling the trigger. Having said that, taking the law into my own hands and killing somebody is wrong, and is absolutely the last resort when all attempts to incapacitate or restrain have failed. You talk as if you've already made up your mind to kill without mercy, and your justification seems to forget that the law exists. If we don't kill a single person today, they won't all be free to carry on hurting people, not if we can help it. The future I want is one where as few people need to mourn as possible."

Heidi's mood had grown stiffer and colder after hearing Ayel's speech, and replying with her own. Besides all but confirmation that he was the voice in everybody's heads earlier, he also had a very dangerous philosophy. The Brotherhood sympathiser whose act of terrorism had taken Heidi's family away from her probably had similar ideas, and that's what bothered her so much about this. She didn't want Ayel following the same path, with his 'us and them' mindset and how quickly he jumped to killing as his plan A. She had to try to change him before it was too late. If he didn't kill tonight, that would be a good start.

Even his plan made a lot of assumptions. Heidi didn't think Ayel was a mind reader, or he'd likely be showing some kind of coldness or disgust at her pro-mutant registration ideals. There was some sense to what he was saying, but the way he assumed the worst, and demonized them. It was if he was psyching himself up in order to justify violence. That was hopeful. There was the tiniest glimmer of hesitation and empathy in there that he was actively trying to suppress.

"Your plan is decent, yet inefficient. With your ability, you'd be better served giving anyone who arrives the intel. I will immediately set to rescuing Uná. Don't worry. I can handle myself on the field. Anyone who says 'you can't outthink a bullet' has never met me. And like you said, make sure this doesn't have a tragic end. Unless you have no other choice, please go non-lethal."

"I bear nay doubt nor hesitation. If you cannot be certain of yourself, how can you expect others to put their faith in you? There is no need to grieve for those whom does not deserve it, If you are unable to pull the trigger, then I shall do it for you and everyone else whom be at their mercy will their continued existance be assured. Could you live knowing it was your choice that they got to live and then escape to harm others? Which could have been avoided. Be it a result of your inaction or not, everything has consequences. As for laws, there are many laws of the world. The law of countries, the law of this city and the law of nature to name a few. Yet the most important law is the law of your heart, how do you know something is right or wrong? Ask your very core. That's how you know. So in a manner of speaking... all take laws into their own hands, be it to hide behind some other law or not." The blond man added, as he began to gradually descend as they flew forth towards the location which Heidi had pointed out.

"Try incapacitate or restrain a tick, it doesn't stop it from doing what in it's nature to do. It will still be a tick. To consume blood and crawl about. These humans are very much like that, how long have they've killed oneanother? How long would it continue? I wouldn't kill without mercy, I am nay a monster, I would kill out of mercy. Relieving them of their ever-hungry existance, while at the same time protecting those, whom these humans are trying to leech to death with their insationable greed and lust for power out of their reach. What is more kind? Lock the leeches up and prevent them from their nature and dreams, elevating their suffering to an artform, or liberating them of their painful urges, while at the same time making the world a better place?" Ayel raised his head and looked away to the distance while still talking to Heidi.

"The future you want is the same as mine. I too want one where there is no more cries. I want nothing more than a swift end to all of this... chaos. My parents, and so called friends, those whom I knew many years ago were human. Yet in the end all that mattered was if you were a human or if you were not. Nothing else meant a thing, as both they and the rest of the human world has shown. They judged a book upon learning of it's cover and contents, while at the same time I passed my own judgement with what I knew of human nature firsthand. There are humans whom evolved from monkeys, and there are beings like us whom evolved from humans. There can be nay crossing between them, no equal co-existance. Look at those whom have tried. Has it worked? Nay. Look what humankind did to monkeys and apes, they caged and experimented on them. All for the sake of progress, but now with us emerging they might think they can also do the same to us." Ayel straightened himself abit as they levitated closer towards the ground, a distance away from where the location was. Seeking to land on a roof of a building, providing a clear view of the target location ahead.

"We are expected, or rather you are. While you are capable, I couldn't live with allowing a child of the chosen to walk into the den of evil alone, while I would stand back and simply watch things unfold. Like some spectator of a horrid play. Nay. I will go in there alone or with you. It would be a great burden for you to chose whom lives or dies, a burden which could destroy you if you spare someone which in turn leads to more suffering. For someone with your kind of abilities and kind nature, that would be agonizing to bear and also to behold. Let me undo these mistakes of life, you can tell yourself that you bear nay guilt nor blame for my actions in taking care of these pests. As you would not be able to stop me would you?" The man gave Heidi an inspecting look, with a slight upturn at the corner of his mouth.

Drake “D” Edwards

Interaction/Mentions: @Damo021@webboysurf@c3p-0h | Location: Avalon

"Sluagh! I -- I know where Uná is!" Drake's focus immediately shifted. He hadn't even realized Aya had come back into the building and here she was demanding the creature's attention. The stutter in her exclamation did not project confidence. Wide-eyed and in a panic, Drake looked back toward Sluagh and tried to react as quickly as he could.

He started moving toward the monster, pivoting slightly as he advanced, placing himself between it and her. With one of his fiery hands, he picked up an abandoned table and turned it, pointing the surface of it toward Sluagh, using it like a knight would a shield. As his ablazed fists gripped the mast, the flames started licking at the wood of the tabletop. It wouldn't be long before it, too, would catch fire. The least of Drake's problems right now.

"No quick moves, big guy," Drake calmly advised the creature. He planted his feet, anticipating Sluagh's next move. If it was going to attack, he wanted to be ready.

Ashfords - Avalon

Jasper wasn’t one to often leave her room. Heck, she barely made it to classes some days, though she was always watching them. Interacting with others had never been her strong suit, and often kept interaction to a minimum. Which is likely why she hadn’t been invited on their evening out.

The technopath lay on her bed, eyes closed while she browsed the web. Up until she flicked passed a random Facebook post. Avalon? That was a nightclub wasn’t it? Her eyes shot open, the neon green glow dulling slightly as she split her focus. Something was actually happening! Grabbing a pair of jeans, she yanked them on (nearly falling several times in the process) while she cast her connection out to find something. She managed to locate what she was looking for just in time to throw her jacket over her shoulders.

Without waiting, Jasper sprinted out of the school, shoving passed anyone still in her way. The short brunette wasn’t about to miss out on the first action she’d seen since getting here. And stealing a car was a lot easier when you didn’t have to hot-wire it. Right? Maybe. Well she was about to find out! A simple command and the door of some poor strangers car flung open, no alarms, and just waiting to do. Good thing she’d done this before!

On her way to Avalon, Jasper was speeding and ducking through traffic as much as she could. Not easy considering she’d never gotten to her G2 test. Not impossible, since she drove it like she was playing a video game. She could do that well enough to make it a block from the night club. Leaving the care behind, she headed towards Avalon on foot.

From what she could see on traffic cams and social media posts, some of her classmates were inside and outside of the building. Classmates who probably wouldn’t recognize her. Classmates that wouldn’t be expecting her. Classmates she’d never even spoken to.

A deep breath and a silent wish good luck to herself, and she ducked through the crowd of fleeing humans. Her smaller body let her weave though unnoticed, until she got to the door and pushed her way through. Inside she was greeted with some Eldritch horror fighting several of others she vaguely recognized. Jasper was frozen in place just long enough for the dry heat of fire to catch her attention.

Sparks jumped across her fingers as adrenaline rushed through her veins. This may well have been worth the wait.

Kaylee Everose Elijah & Coleman St John

Location: The Blue Dahlia & Avalon

Interaction: Coleman St John @Pilatus; Kaylee & Elijah

Mentions:

Elijah

Elijah rushed back in from helping clear out the bar in the front section to see Drake challenging the...thing. He clenched his jaw and pulled out his phone. Rolling his eyes he unlocked the phone. Yeah it was time to call it a night. Kids were drunk and most of their powers are like my own more support than fighting. He watched Drake, Nik, Nathan and Cleo fighting.

Elijah dialed the phone calling Cole. Let’s hope they’re not pissed since it looks like we could use some help. Just as the phone picked up Elijah’s attention snaps to Aya who just staggered in.

"Sluagh!" Aya called out before she fully knew what she was doing.

Elijah’s eyes widened. I know that word...How do I know that word? What the fuck is she doing?! Why get - no. No. NO.

She glanced at Drake, like he could somehow help her. She looked back at the monster. "I -- I know where Uná is!" Elijah prayed she hadn't just made the biggest mistake of their lives because she just said what he thought she was going to.

Elijah recalled he was trying to call in the cavalry. “Uh...Cole? We have a problem…”

The band was midway through another set when Cole watched his phone light up with a call on the table in front of them. His expression fell with some annoyance. Aside from his work at the Institute, only a few people in the remaining casework he kept on the side would be contacting him and he was in no mood to deal with a vice-detective or a lawyer on his night out- all of which were well aware of his disdain for telephones. With a slight sigh he reached with his free hand keeping his other arm around Kaylee’s chair. “Duty calls,” He said sarcastically as he swiped his thumb over the small screen. He didn’t recognize the number, but the voice was unmistakable. He had to press the speaker against his ear to hear Elijah. The younger man’s voice cracked against a raucous on the other side of the line. “What do you mean, we have a problem? He said pointedly immediately noticing Kaylee’s attention shift next to him.

Kaylee looked over in curiosity and as Cole quoted the question back at the caller on the phone Kaylee rose and motioned to the waitress. When the waitress walked over she let her know that they were leaving and needed to tab out.

Elijah heard the echo of ‘you have to be kidding me’ in Cole's voice. “That would be what I said. To make a long story short we're at Avalon fighting a monster that may or may not be an illusion from Uná. And it's starting to not be in our favor...”

Kaylee signed the slip of paper that the waitress brought around and gently pulled Cole toward the exit while he was on the phone. Whoever that is owes me big time. Cancel my date to deal with business...Maybe he'd be okay finishing this later. Not tonight but later this week. And maybe a second date?

“We’ll be there in ten minutes.” Cole’s expression was like stone as dropped the phone back into his pocket as they were making their way back out to the parking lot. “That was Elijah,” He said offering no surprise in his voice and taking heavy strides with her. Their tread beat quickly against the sandy dirt lot. Cool moonlight glinted off the bike between the tree branches; the front forks leaned and pointed directly towards the road just as he had left it. “A bunch of them are at Club Avalon,” He said throwing his leg over as she quickly settled in behind him sensing the urgency. There was no need to explain what Club Avalon was all about or of whom their primary clientele consisted. “One of Una’s imaginations is on the loose,” He let that part sink in before he put his thumb over the starter button and turned his head back towards Kaylee. “That means she’s not there, but it is.”

Kaylee gritted her teeth and made mental note to give Elijah more to do to keep him out of trouble. “Can’t leave them alone for a second.” Kaylee shakes her head. “Teenagers. Rain check on the date?” Kaylee climbed on the bike and clutched Cole’s back. She could at least enjoy the ride nodding as he looked back at her.

Wait...he didn’t just say that Una wasn’t there to control the illusion did he? “Wait. What? She’s missing? And the illusion is still there? That can’t be right. Her power doesn’t work like… God damn!! Ashford. Can we make it there in less than ten minutes? I think they’re in more trouble than they realize.”

When he told Elijah ten minutes, he knew he was being very generous on the estimate. Club Avalon wasn’t terribly far away from the Blue Dahlia, but with LA traffic, fifteen minutes would have also been a rather hopeful ETA. He would be “bending” a few traffic rules to make it solo in ten, but with a passenger, things would get very interesting and he didn’t want to put Kaylee in any danger past what he knew he could control. He mashed the starter button bringing the engine to life with a sharp electrical note and gave the throttle a quick twist, letting the clutch out smoothly as the rpms dropped. Once he felt Kaylee’s grip around his waist tighten firmly and the wide rear tire bit into the pavement, he laid into the throttle, blasting them down the highway like a rifle shot.

Flames popped from the exhaust through the night air as he went through the gears in quick succession. The rush of wind grew into a furious concerto with the deafening engine note as he leaned forward into the handlebars. His bike was never set up for any real road-course action and he was careful how he leaned its stretched frame to account for Kaylee behind him and the unbalanced width of the rear tire through the curving descent from the Dahlia back into town. His mind was solely focused on the road ahead, watching past the edge of the headlight beam into the moonlight looking for the apex of the next turn. The piercing intuition from earlier in the night rode with him and intensified as they broke out into the surface streets blazing under a traffic light and splitting a pair of cars. It wasn’t far off. The call from Elijah only brought about a familiar feeling of confirmation, though he hadn’t expected it to come on so fast. The voice of blood called from the ground as they got closer. Unmistakable and undeniable. His expression became distant and sullen as his hands and legs worked the controls with total purpose, almost machine-like in their movement dodging cars, pedestrians, signal masts and anything else that came between them and their destination. They would make the ten minutes he promised Elijah.

Kaylee clung to Cole as they were off like a bullet from a gun. Kaylee turned her head and opened her eyes watching the trees blur by and her vision overlapped with Cole’s aura. Gold, yellow, neon blue and red intermingled with a bright white seemed to ribbon off him.

She closed her eyes and heard the pop of the exhaust and the roar of the bike echoing back. The wind tore past them as Kaylee trusted Cole and moved with him. As they moved into the surface streets Cole didn’t slow down. His posture became...different.

It was as if something else was driving him. Kaylee opened her eyes and looked at the scenery. Cole was dodging a car but half her vision was taken up with shifting colors that moved like smoke. As if Cole was smoldering.

This was different. He was still Cole but it was as if someone had put more in there. Like if you fill a glass slowly you can fill it over the rim. That was the closest analogy that Kaylee could liken it too.

They made it to Avalon in less than ten minutes. There was chaos in the parking lot people running and screaming about a monster. Kaylee could hear it over the growl of the bike. Which was odd. She glanced at Cole and was taken aback by his sullen, distant expression. She looked around to see what he was looking at that put that look on his face.

Heidi Williams

Location: Outside Avalon.
Interacting With: Ayel @Dezuel

Heidi listened to Ayel continued to speak there was one thing he said that she agreed with. Only one. The most important law to follow is the law of your heart. And Heidi's heart was telling her that Ayel was dangerous, and wrong, and that no matter what somebody has done, killing will always be a less moral choice than incarceration and salvation, if the latter is possible. But he wasn't the one with a captive. Right now, they were allies with a common enemy. Heidi's severe misgivings about Ayel's philosophies were not the main concern, no matter how wrong she was finding them. They needed to save their classmate. Or rather, her classmate. Heidi didn't think Ayel went to the institute. His extreme and elitist views of non-mutants was disgusting to Heidi, and she doubted that this attitude would have lasted very long under the tutelage of the X-Men. After this was over, she should at least persuade him to enrol, or persuade the teachers to contact him.

"There are billions of people out there, who don't have the X-gene. Billions who are good, moral people. Innocent and as deserving of life as anybody. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop insulting them. That won't help change things. Billions of people minding their own business aren't the problem. They never have been. Change for the better won't come about if you destroy the system. That will just create more chaos. You need to change the system itself to your advantage. You need to...use it."

They landed on a roof overlooking the site where Aya had told them the car had driven. Heidi immeditaly stepped close to the edge and began taking everything in and formulating plans and strategies, while Ayel continued talking, and she turned to watch his lips. "Very well," she answered once he'd finished, after turning away and looking back over the scene. "We go in there together. And you're right. I can't stop you killing. All I can do repeat myself and ask you not too. I can't stop you and rescue Uná at the same time. They kidnapped her from the club, and they're armed. This is on them."

She looked back to Ayel. "I will try to keep an eye out for backup arriving, and if I notice something, I'll try and notify you. You can then use he power you used in the club to let them know where we are and what's going on. Speaking of, that's something we need to talk about later. I know you're the one who sent that message into all of our heads, calling for some kind of uprising. Careful. You sounded a little like Magneto." she finished with a hint of challenge in her voice, and eyes, before returning her attention to down below.

Ayel Rozenfeldt

"Indeed, there are billions of humans out there whom does not carry the gift. That why they are human, and we are not. I see not the use of insulting something which I already deem to be as low as it can get. You claim there are good and moral ones? Where are they when our kind suffers? If the vast majority of them would indeed be kind as you say, why must our kind hide? Those among us which are caught in the open are captured, killed or... harvested. For whatever desire humankind has for them. To exploit their power or perhaps wipe their memories clean and make them into weapons to use at their beck and call."

"Good people, as you refer them, whom happens to watch evil do it's thing on a daily basis, as it is not their buisness... are not good people at all. You desire to treat them as witnesses to murder, I wish to call them accomplices which allowed things to happen. The system you speak about is like a lamp. When one lightbulb grows weak, you pick up a new one and toss the old away. It won't descend into chaos as long as one has a lightbulb to put in it's place, chosing between that or utter darkness. I think some would welcome the light compared to a world of darkness."

Ayel blew some more air through his nose, in a softly sighing manner. Having finally landed and released his hold on Heidi. The blonde man shortly afterwards walked up next to Heidi and took a look around, to get an idea of their surroundings. He carefully slid his hands into his hoodie-pocket, the talk with Heidi was enjoyable to say the least to him. Nothing like a discussion of their predicament to lighten up the mood, though he did take note of her stand on it.

"You are correct. It is on them, their demise was by their own hand in a manner of looking at it. I shall deal with them swiftly, as swiftly as their kind puts down animals. While they may not offer our kind the same treatment, it is our way to show that we are not like them at all. Life is precious, because you only have one life. No creature, good or evil deserves to die painfully. Albeit it sometimes cannot be avoided, as tragic as that may be. Stay behind me at all times, also I have not used any power within a club this day. Come to think of it, I do not like bars. Both kinds. I do not drink brands of sweet poison either, it only dullen the body and mind, and prevent a more clear and true vision. Although, I can understand why some do. To forget horrible things from the past, such as dear ones nay longer here with you. Or the general feeling of hopelessness. Though looking to the past long enough will get you lost in it, you'll lose both the present and future in doing so. I prefer to look on ahead, to a bright new future. And if I were the one who sent that message? Was there something in it that were not true?"

Ayel gave an amused grin, tilting his head to the side. Heidi's belief in humankind was much like those of the X-men, and from Ayel's point of view. As if it was a poison or disease of the mind, just how many of their people had been lost to the naive dream of something which could never be. It troubled the blonde man, as every fellow kind which chose to side with the humans would have to be cleansed, and if that wouldn't be possible they would have to vanish along with the humans. He recalled back to his own awakening, and how those he cared for died. Not in the physical sense, but dead in a different sense.

There was little use to dwell on the past, that much he knew, nothing would change what had happened. Much like how there was no way for humans and their kind to co-exist on an equal standing, just how many... mutants had the X-men dragged to certain death because of their dangerous mindset. It pained him to think of the likely numbers, yet at the same time strengthened him for the task at hand. Yet it intrigued him to see how far Heidi could press her belief, to see if she could prove him wrong. On hearing a familiar name, Ayel had a ponderous expression decorate his face.

"Magneto hm? There are those with power enough to destroy mountains, then there are those with power to move them... and lastly there are those whom can move the hearts of others... to direct them towards the promised land. Which they all wish for, where they can live in peace and without worry. Where they nay longer have to fear going outside. This to many of them be a dream, but I am convinced that this is nay a dream but a desire and one which will come true. All wish for what the tomorrow will bring. The dawn of a new era perhaps."

He nodded slightly as he offered his arm to Heidi, seeking to levitate himself down to the ground so that they could begin their move on the location where Una was being kept. "Let us descend and let them know of our arrival."
