How did you discover your powers: Luna grew-up in a lighthouse. Do you see where this is going? Anyways, she loved the oceans sounds, the views and of course the animals. There was plenty of space to grow and run around for a child of the famous Captain Britain. She was walking along the rocks that acted as a breaker for the waves when she slipped on a particularly slippery one and fell. She screamed, loudly but no one heard her due to the roaring waves. She thought of her father and cried out to him over and over while the waves pulled her under. A telepathic wave went out and Brain Braddock heard his daughter immediately before coming to her rescue. It was the summer of her tenth year so in the fall she was sent to Xavier’s school for Gifted Youngsters to be trained up first by him before Luna came back home six years later and was trained by her father.

General History: Luna Elizabeth Braddock was born to Brian Braddock and Meggan Puceanu-Braddock in Cornwall on February 28. The day was rather unremarkable but the child born was anything but. She had an aptitude for anything mechanical and knew how to put things together before she was walking. Although she didn’t show any signs of mutant ability until she was several years older, she was the apple of her parents eyes.
Luna grew up with her father and mother coming and going, kicking ass and taking names all around the world and within other worlds. She loves her parents, her family name and everything that it stands for. She pushes herself a bit more because of that name, feeling she has to live up to that very name and anything less than perfect is unacceptable. Her first ten years of her life were pretty normal, besides the extraordinary parents.
When she was sent to America she was rather upset. Being an only child, she was rather attached to her parents and that way of life but her father convinced her and kept her calm, so off to boarding school she went. Luna excelled in some classes and others not so much but she never stopped pushing herself to do better. She was her own worst critic but it always paid off. She had friends and she had enemies like most children do with special abilities. Luna’s sarcasm grew within this school and a ‘take-no-bullshit’ attitude as well. This is when she also learned that some attention is nice, wanted even but the full attention of a crowd was very much unwanted.
After six years of full time education, Luna returned to her home in Cornwall England where she began training with her father and mother. She enjoyed this much more and discovered her enhanced speed ability here. People in England knew more of her and her family so most times to get away from the media, she would simply run away and she soon developed the love of running for leisure and escape. She often would go with her parents on missions. More good will missions than actual crime fighting ones but Luna enjoyed it all the same and became a proverbial princess in her own right. However, Luna was growing board with the same routine day in and day out and although she loves her home and her family, she decided to go back to America. It helped that Xavier made a phone call, telling her of a secret underground group of mutants that could use a fresh pair of hands. Luna was surprised that was all that was required and not some large some of money. Still, it would be new scenery, new faces and a new routine.

How did you discover your powers: When Cayden was fourteen, he experienced his first death and a rough heartbreak. Having been raised mostly by his grandmother, her tragic passing caused an epic meltdown. When people were trying to consol Cayden, he screamed at them, shifted a couple steps and pushed them off with a fair amount of power. So much so that he knocked one out and threw a couple back with inhuman force. Shortly after this, Cayden started experiencing night terrors. It took him awhile but he discovered this was his first take at Dream Walking and he was seeing his father’s nightmares and other people’s dreams.

General History: Cayden’s birth was not an easy one. He was born under an unusually bright full moon. His mother died during the birth and Cayden was raised by his widowed father and fraternal grandmother. His father had a difficult time raising a son that reminded him much of his late wife everytime he looked at Cayden. His father turned to drinking and thus started a vicious cycle. Growing up on a reservation, Cayden had the basics but with his father’s inability to raise him, he was limited to some things but his grandmother was a strong woman and pushed Cayden every step of the way. He was raised with strong feminine influences and thus grew to be a very respectful boy, despite his father’s teaching methods.
As Cayden grew, his father became more aggressive and demanding. Beatings were not uncommon in the Proudstar household and at age eight, Cayden received a major head injury when his father pushed him with his own Enhanced Strength and he hit the wall in their living room. After this Cayden stayed glued to his grandmother until her death. Cayden developed his mutant powers at this time but had to figure out his abilities on his own. His father was of very little help but Cayden never left.
With values instilled on him by his grandmother, he became a jack of all trades around the reservation he lived on. He worked for food rather than money and for stories. There was a lot of history with his culture and he thrived on the otherness of it. This is where he developed a specific taste of music (and baking ability). The raw meanings, the haunting sounds. The words were poetry too him and were the things that helped keep him positive and always upbeat.
As the public became aware of mutants, the reservation he grew on became dangerous. They were protected by basic laws but for the most part, the government would turn a blind eye to anything that happened on the reservation. Cayden got wind of a group of mutants in Arizona, a faction of the Underground and he would go and offer his services there. Here he learned more skills so that he could protect his people; even his abusive father. Despite it all, he still loved his father.
In 2019, the Underground on the East coast of America grew more exciting and violent and this is where Cayden’s journey East began. He went with a group of friends, leaving his only home and finally his father. It was a simple goodbye, nothing more was needed. Once arriving in New York, they didn’t have much downtime and were accepted readily. Within this year there was an incident with mutant haters which caused many of the people Cayden traveled with to die tragically. He floated for awhile, not sure what to do or where to go when he got wind of the Underground in Washington D.C. Having now adapted the lifestyle of a floater or gypsy, Cayden packed up his little belongings and moved on to the next adventure.

Having had a hard upbringing, he's taken to further disassociating himself from human society and viewing them more as stepping stones for his greatness. He uses his powers without remorse, stacking the odds against those beneath him in order to put himself on top. Whether it be winning at a game of chance, cards, or simply causing a mundanes pocket to rip, leaving the wallet behind from him to snatch up, PJ knows that in this life you have to use the tools you have to make sure that number one is always ahead, and who is he but number one?

Apart from all that doom and gloom, Peej is a very care free spirit. Constantly moving and never fully setting down. He enjoys using his natural nimbleness to his advantage and often likes to get around by doing cartwheels or other athletic maneuvers, saying it's more fun than just walking. How did you discover your powers:
Pj has had his powers since an early age. Often times they came out subconsciously, hurting those he wished ill will upon. He didn't discover that he had powers until later on in life however. After a string of bad foster homes, and noticing that whenever he wished harm on someone itd happen, he began to realize that he could manipulate the luck of those around him and thus dubbed his power "Jinxing".

General History:
PJ lived a normal life up until the age of ten. His mother and father were both French Citizens who moved to America for a reason he hardly recalls. After a few years they had him, born in New York, the first generation of Americans in their family. They lived in a modest house near the city proper, full with security system to know when an intruder invaded their home. PJ had been sick and was resting in bed with a fever, causing him to have nightmares, putting extra stress on the 10 year olds body. His powers began to manifest and the first Jinxs had been created. As unluck would have it, the security system for their house was doing a routine maintenance that night, shutting off the alarms just long enough for a burglar to break in. When PJ awoke, it was to the sounds of sirens as the first responders arrived, rousing him from his nightmare and now seeing his parents strewn across the floor in pools of blood.

Now in the foster system, PJ is sent from family to family. None of which were the nicest of people, and each of which finding themselves at the wrong end of his powers. The families would call him a demon child, and have him sent back into the foster system due to all the bad things that would happen to them after adopting him. From falling pots to broken break lines, each family got hit with a jinx worse than the last. After two long years and several family changes, he finally began to realise what was going on. He had the power to Jinx people, altering their luck and having them pay for what they did to him; Instant Karma. After that Pj began to run away from the foster homes he was sent to, going to school to learn but then quickly evading the authorities when needed. After sometime he figured he couldnt keep up both and raised a library to steal a French book which made him feel closer to his actual family.

Four years of running and dodging his foster families, he ran into a family of his own. A carnival troupe that took interests in this double jointed kid with no tie to society. They took him in and trained him up, there he performed for two years, doing contortionists acts while learning acrobatics to further his stage repertoire. However he had found out that one of the Carnis had been slighting him on his pay the whole time, and so he placed it upon himself to inact a bit of Karma, having the rope snap during an act and the net break, along with the carnis neck. This got him kicked out of the troupe and back on the run as not only was he a murderer, but a mutant as well.

At that point in time he fled back to New York, looking for a familiar scene to ground himself in. He quickly took up pick pocketing and abusing his powers to have others misfortunes become his fortune, making sure that he was never without a meal or place to stay. It was these years that fully began to cement his hatred towards humans and the government as a whole. A network full of lies that only sought out to eradicate the superior race, the mutant race. After five years of wandering the streets and honing in on his jinxs' he decided a change of scenery was in order. Joining the Brotherhood and helping them with their cause. He got close to a mutant named Wanda who seemed to share similar abilities as him. Teaching him not only what they were, but that he could concentrate them into blasts of energy to fight as well. After five years of being with the Brotherhood, PJ decided he knew what he wanted to do. He left the Brotherhood and traveled for a year to Washington D.C. He was going to stop the rotting fish from its head.

Césaire learned long ago haste breaks men far faster than pain. He treads carefully and contemplates extensively before taking action. The man prefers words to fists―it is rain that grows flowers after all―but doesn’t hesitate to take decisive action if he must. He moves only when he is ready, once the exits plan is in place and the margin for error has been calculated and accounted for, and little change the stubborn man’s mind.

Césaire indulges in the finer side of life, surrounding himself with music and food and wine as he watches his plans play out around him. Rare a day it is that the man forgets his warm smile, always pleased more with his own accomplishments than any current company, but the days he does often lead to disaster for those who thought to interrupt his machinations. How did you discover your powers:

Césaire’s powers manifested during an accidental fight that broke out in an Amsterdam bar. One second he’d been sipping at a glass of Pinot Grigio and singing along with the dulcet tones of a street singer and the next his shadow was suddenly flying across the seedy room with a full beer stein following close behind it. As he sung, people stumbled, not unusual in a bar, and then people collapsed, fully falling asleep where they stood. And when he spoke, the street performer’s voice rang out among the sleeping bar instead of his own.

The cover up was easy. A small, seedy little bar on the wrong side of town had little in the ways of cameras and he promptly fainted from shock at the time so it seemed like he also fell asleep with the rest of them. When he woke, his voice had returned to normal but with little effort her could mimic the girl again. He nearly fainted once more but managed to make his way to his stay house and contact his finacés in tears.

General History:

The child of an American Spaniard business man and a French history professor, Césaire grew up in Paris as an only child of the pair. They lived well and Césaire attended a small private school with excellent instructors, excelling in academics early on. His father traveled for business regularly and his mother lived the life of a socialite, regularly hosting large soirées on her husband’s card, who hired a private etiquette tutor as part of his after school curriculum. He maintained a cordial relationship with his classmates with the exception of the small circle of close friends he found connection with.

At fifteen, his father’s job called him back to the States and the family followed. His mother found employment at Yale University, where Césaire would eventually attend and graduate with a bachelors and masters in political science with a specialty in human trafficking, and immediately re-established her lavish social life, bringing her son along for the ride. Césaire learned to enjoy the almost strategic plays that accompanied the life of a socialite, learning how to read and manipulate those around him to ensure his success. It was these early parties that he managed to establish the lasting connection that would eventually lead him into his career.

Césaire met Devon Rathail at one of his mother’s parties his sophomore year in college. The pair hit it off almost immediately and fell in love less than two months later despite a less than warm welcome from Devon’s family. Their relationship, like all of them, had its ups and downs, a few screaming matches than ended in broken belongs, bruised egos, and stewing silences but they made it through college happily over all. And then Natasha, a beautiful woman from Brown, fell into the relationship. It took time for the three of them to adjust, and more than once one of them stalked out on it, but they managed to find their stride by graduation and all three of them proposed to each other the same week. Césaire cried the first two weeks every time he looked at the rings, much to his fiancés’ amusement.

The man’s original plan was to move into the private sector with a crime analysis group but Devon’s father made him another offer. Dr. Rathail worked for the CIA as a senior analyst and his department recently lost a member to retirement. He offered to help Césaire earn an interview and, after months of interviewing and applications, Césaire secured the position. Natasha and Devon entered the private job sector, working in the healthcare industry and hospitality industries respectively. The three spent two more years in a small apartment in Connecticut before purchasing their own home in upstate New York.

Shortly after moving, Césaire took an offer to transfer across the Atlantic to the Paris office at the goading of his fiancés. They made plans to meet several times a year in either Paris or New York as possible and he regretfully crossed the ocean only to discover that his application to move from analytics to field agent had been approved with several high recommendations from Dr. Rathail and his associates. He spent three years training, flying constantly between Paris and Amsterdam.

It was during this training period Césaire discovered his mutant abilities. During the early part of his training, Césaire’s abilities manifested and he covered up the incident against regulation. He knew full well the political climate that surrounded this development and he refused to allow it to effect his lovers back home. He continued honing his abilities in secret.

When he was finally given his assignment, Césaire vanished from society for two years as he fell into the horrific world of European human trafficking. He managed to track and dismantle a portion of a massive crime ring that plagued France at the time but his efforts did not go unnoticed. A message from Devon and Natasha about visiting and discussing the possibility of adoption came through, leaving Césaire’s brain scrambled as he desperately made his way home.

I miss them.

Halfway to the airport, the remnants of the cartel he dismantled abducted him and tortured him for three years. He managed to keep them from cutting out his tongue before they gagged him, silencing him for the next two years. They tortured him mercilessly, waterboarding a particular favorite, for his entire stay but he stayed focused on the job. They grew careless because his mutant abilities were suppressed and talked outside his cramped, lightless cell. They spoke about their lives outside of this, their families if they had one, their activities, how someone sold their captive out because he was a mutant, how they were planning on selling him as a freak in Italy once they were satisfied.

I have a plan.

He planned. He learned the rotation, made notes of new voices, practiced chewing through the gag even when he was allowed to eat. He ignored the humiliation, the pain, the jeering insults and jibes, He’d learn that his suffering only spurred them to greater heights. He ignored it all, even as they branded his deteriorating leg with the word “Mutant”, because he knew his plan would work. They noticed too. Months later, on the eve of his escape, he woke and for the first time, he struggled. Devon and Natasha stared back at him, bound and gagged, and one of his captors held a knife with a wicked grin. It was the last time he saw them.

Please don’t. Oh god, please.

He heard them for the next three days until they finally died.

A week later, he sang for the first time in two years. As they turned their own weapons on themselves, tears dripped down his face as Louis Armstrong’s “La Vie En Rose” tumbled from his lips. Some he allowed to live, only to interrogate them when they awoke. He felt sick to his stomach when he discovered his government sold him out because they discovered his little secret and decided his death would be the easiest way to handle it. He finished his job there, leaving no one behind, and made his way back to America. Dr. Rathoil sold his belongings to various holders soon thereafter and committed suicide in his missing son’s room.

I'll fix everything for you.

With some degree of closure, Césaire moved onto his next project.The pain in his right leg reminded him daily why it happened. He was sold out because he was a mutant and if things weren’t fixed, it would happen again.

Personality: Waverly, despite being a year into her adult life, has yet to figure out how exactly to grow up. Though it's not necessarily on purpose, she's good at making people like her, or at the very least, making people indifferent towards her. It was something she naturally developed in high school, as well as the skill of knowing who to befriend and who to avoid. Both are skills she's found to be just as useful in the real world as they were in high school. But even in making friends, she's still somewhat awkward, often stumbling over her words, and making jokes she doesn't realize that no one will understand.

How did you discover your powers: Waverly has always been a bit embarrassed of her first experience with her powers. She wasn't held at gunpoint. She wasn't tortured by some evil organization. Her life wasn't threatened in any way, shape, or form. It was just a meth addict at the mall. The guy started freaking out, flipping over trashcans, yelling at people, all while Waverly clung to the sleeve of her best friend. A security guard managed to subdue the guy before he did any real damage, but to a sheltered teen, it was enough to kickstart something inside her. When he reported the incident to the rest of the security team, something strange happened; Waverly could hear it. This was particularly strange because the man was on the other side of the food court. And it wasn't like Waverly just heard it. It felt like it went straight into her brain without passing through her ears first.

General History: Waverly's parents were not killed on their way home from the opera. She doesn't have any uncles that could've died to make for a tragic backstory. Her home planet, save for a few melting ice caps, some smog, and a distinct lack of bees, is doing perfectly fine. She wasn't even born on the wrong side of the tracks. Instead, she was born in the pleasant suburban paradise of Greenbelt, Maryland. Her mother was a police officer, stationed over in Washington D.C., and her father was a rather successful businessman who made a profit producing and selling the plastic straws used in restaurants.

Waverly was the middle child, between Sam, her older brother who was groomed from the start to take over their father's business, and her little sister Riley, who, at a young age, showed an aptitude for seemingly everything. When she was young, Waverly and her mother were close, as her father would often spend his time with Sam. But when Riley was born, Waverly had to share the spotlight, the spotlight which was stolen from her completely when Riley began excelling in school. Obviously she wasn't cast out of the family, but of the three children, she was the most average, and therefore the most invisible.

Like all the Watts children, Waverly was thrust into the private school life from a young age, though unlike the other Watts children, the private school life didn't exactly sit well with her. She did fine at first. After all, it is pretty hard to fuck up 2 + 2 = 4. But it wasn't long before she fell behind. She never failed a class (except for Freshman year French, which she doesn't count since she made it up during summer school), but her grades were much lower than either of her siblings ever were. While Sam and Riley were getting straight A's with the occasional B, Waverly was getting straight C's with the occasional B. One aspect of school that she was good at, however, was the socializing. She seemed to be able to walk into a room, and know immediately who to kiss up to, who to talk shit with, and who to ignore. It was the only thing that helped her survive her schooling career.

Unfortunately, social capabilities aren't particularly important to colleges. Of all the big league schools her parents had pushed her to apply to, not a single one got back to her with good news. So she decided she'd take a "break," which is a fancy way of saying she had no idea what to do with herself. But it wasn't long before she found her answer. She'd known about her abilities for a few years, but she'd kept them mainly under wraps. Her parents weren't exactly radicals when it came to Mutants, but when the topic came up at the dinner table, it was never accompanied by kind words. So she thought it would be best to keep her powers to herself, only ever using them to spy on her family's cellphone conversations. But it wasn't until she was out of high school for a few months that she found a use for it.

She was walking home from the minimum wage, two-days-a-week job her parents had urged her to get, listening to some classic rock radio station in her head, another use of her power she'd grown fond of, when it was interrupted by a gruff voice talking about something happening not too far away from where Waverly was walking. She recognized the codes and language used as police lingo, the kind her mother would use on the job. She didn't, however, know what they meant. Out of curiousity, she made a detour, veering towards the location stated by the police frequency she'd picked up. What she found when she turned onto the street, was a pair of police officers, guns drawn, aiming it at a young man with glowing red hands. He looked frightened. Waverly was certain she was about to witness the Mutant get arrested for whatever it is they stopped him for. But instead, when he raised his hands into the air, one of the officers took the shot.

It horrified Waverly. After puking into a nearby trashcan, she started on her journey home, shaking all the while. Once she was home, though, and the terror of seeing a man die had, for the most part, subsided, Waverly began to hatch a plan. She bought a video camera and learned a bit about police codes from her mother, and once she was armed with all the knowledge she needed, she set to the streets. She began spending a lot of time in the city, wandering until she caught wind of some sort of Mutant report. Once she had, she'd follow it. Sometimes it'd be nothing. The police would shake hands with whatever Mutant had been unlawfully reported. But other times, they wouldn't hesitate to shoot down any poor Mutant who even seemed like they were about to use their powers. It was those times that Waverly would record.

She's been doing it for about a year now. She has numerous videos that she's posted on various platforms. Unfortunately, none have seemed to pick up the kind of momentum Waverly hoped they would.

Anything Else: For those of you who aren’t the GM and you’re reading this, I was told to write a couple sentences on why it’s important to post regularly and communicate. I was raised on tabletop RPGs, so I can say that there are a lot of things that online roleplaying has that tabletop games don’t. That said, there are some things that online roleplays lack as well. With Tabletop games, it’s easy to make sure everyone is in the loop, because everyone is actually there. But with online roleplays, it takes a bit more effort to stay on the same page. As such, it’s important for everyone to do their part by staying active and talking to one another. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
