Personality: A brave and determined young woman, who is strong-willed to the point of stubbornness. Yamato Takeru bears herself with grace, showing herself to be the sort of girl who could be fittingly described as 'prince-like'. In spite of her grace, however, she bears an intensely sharp temper and an aggressive side, things that deeply concerned her father in life. While she is certainly the type to display loyalty, she is also one who judges the worthiness of those around her. It is her decision, and hers alone, that determines who is worthy of her dedication. In life even her own brother did not warrant loyalty in her eyes and was struck down for his potential tyranny. The same can be said of her Master. Those who behave as tyrants shall be given a tyrant's execution. In spite of political marriage in life, Takeru knows little of love and is easily flustered when confronted with such things, and is utterly unaware of the charm of her own graceful actions towards others. Description: The blade discovered within the tail of the wicked eight-headed serpent Yamata-no-Orochi, by the divine spirit Susanoo. It was passed down and eventually reached Yamato Takeru's hands, proving itself to be a perfectly keen-edged sword and indeed a divine construct. Possessed of numerous capabilities, such as an edge that never dulled and a blade that would never break, it proved to be an incredibly potent blade and stands as one of the Three Regalia of Japan. Its chief capability, perhaps even surpassing its power as a mere sword, is its ability to alter the flow of the wind. Capable of pulling wind in around the blade and concentrating it into concussive blasts or razor-sharp invisible edges, it is both an exquisite weapon and a high-tier catalyst for wind alteration. The wind can even be used as a defensive barrier by gathering it as a highly condensed windstorm to deflect projectiles. But all of this falls short of its ultimate function. By gathering and collapsing wind around its blade and heating the air, it produces an incredibly potent form of magical energy, converting the wind to plasma. Description: It is said that Yamato Takeru's soul turned into a great white bird when she died. In reality, this was merely an extension of an ability she possessed in life owed to her divine heritage, expressed to its fullest by the legendary Prince. This Noble Phantasm passively empowers Takeru's slender body with far greater strength then she would otherwise possess, and it can be further increased to allow her to possess overpowering strength. But it also enhances her ability, allowing her to seemingly move in mid-air by using bursts of magical energy similar to a rocket. At its full invocation, brilliant white wings of light emerge from Takeru's back and her physical parameters rank up. It can be compared to a form of Mana Burst specifically resulting from Yamato Takeru's divinity.

With time, long after his life and death, Narcissus became known as the basis of a mental disorder with its name. Was he the first ever recorded individual to suffer from it? or was his personality just a scapegoat to base this disorder from? To the eyes of humanity, the answer didn't matter in the slightest, in their mind, the two of them, both the man and the illness became eternally entrenched.

To no surprise, Narcissus attains the highest level possible in this skill. In his case this takes the form of an extreme self-hypnosis: as long as he sees himself as his ideal self; his body, skills and attributes will remain in their idealized form, that is to say, second to none. It's not hard to see that this easily can and will become a loop,as he reinforces his warped view of himself, enforcing the hypnosis for an indefinitive amount of time. It would take a severe change of paradigm for Narcissus to stop seeing himself as the pinacle of Heroic Spirits

Description: In life, Narcissus could not boast of any divine armament, extraordinary deed or supreme showing of skill, he was just a man in a world of heroes. But to be an Heroic Spirit without a Noble Phantasm that you could call your own is unheard of, and so, he gained one that not only encompassed his myth but his entire life, the crystalization of his Beauty.

In essence, what this Noble Phantasm do is incredible simple. It gives Narcissus the quality of always being "the most Beautiful being" in any given situation. While this indeed sound simple, in actuality the effects of this are anything but.

To be beautiful does not only refer to your physical appearance, for that would just be a superficial beautiness. A man can only experience true Beauty when his actions, his voice, the weapons he wield, even his soul exudes this quality, and Narcissus is the most beautiful of them all.

What would be a no name spear and shield, become works of art ; When he talks, his voice oozes charm on the levels of magecraft ; when he walks, he does it with a grace that doesn't show any wasted movement; even when he fights, what in life would had been a mediocre showing, transform into a spectacle of poise and finesse that would rival the most skillfuls of combatants.

At its peak, this Beauty will become a blessing (curse) on and in itself, those weak willed will become unable to do anything but gaze at Lancer, becoming slaves to their love, while those who don't succumb to his heavenly glamour will, instead, have their souls and spirits purified. With enough exposure to his phenomenon, it wouldn't be wrong to say that an event akin to enlightened can occur. Beauty is not only a quality of the self, but a quality others see in the other, that is reflected back in the self. To try and reach that Beauty is, perhaps, the same as reaching a superior state of being.

This Noble Phantasm also makes the act of "changing" Narcissus to anything not associated with the word Beauty become nigh impossible. It would not be wrong to say that he possesses an absoluteness of the Self. Neither the strongest poison or the most grievous of wounds will change this fact.

Due to the specifics of his legend , Narcissus can only show the full effects of this Noble Phantasm when his face is without any kind of cover.

Description: Echo was a nymph cursed by Hera to only be able to talk if it was to repeat the last thing she heard. She then had the added misfortune to fall in love with Narcissus, and, after being being throughoutly rejected by him, she had to see the man she loved slowly dying of thirst and hunger after seeing his reflection on a lake, unable to change his destiny in the slightest. Maybe it was this love, or her paper on his myth that lead to an aspect of her being forever tied to Narcissus even after death.

Upon calling it's true name, an ethereal reflection of Narcissus will appear to fight by his side, perfectly mirroring any and all actions done by him. Normally, fighting alongside another person would require years of practice as to not interfere in the other path, but as this is a identical mimicry of the original, this problem does not occur at all.

Due to this being a crystalization of both the love and the punishment for scorning Echo, using this Noble Phantasm comes with the possible effect of Narcissus stopping in the middle of the fight to gaze at his alluring visage reflected at him, for even he is not inmune to the effects of his own Beauty, for better or for worse.

Motivation for the Holy Grail: Reaching the Root is the goal of all magi, Elsi feels it is not her priority. She desires something that would help her family's standing in a local organization that supports the Association: The Magic Crest of the Eisteril Amalgamate. If it means reaching the Root as a bonus then so be it.

Personality: Isolated yet calm and polite. Elsi does this in an attempt so people leave her alone, was it because she was afraid of something that her friends might learn? Was she afraid of making friends? Or perhaps potential enemies? To Elsi De Luca, it is neither. She does not care for social interaction at a shallow level such as small talk or gossip. One can invite her to the cafeteria or somewhere but without a worthwhile conversation that interests her, she might just abandon the activity and be left to her own activities. She does enjoy looking up at the sky, night or day, or out into the city where the view was just breathtaking. Taking a stick of pocky from the box she bought from overseas and snapping it in her mouth. She prefers sticking around and seeing the World compared to the stressful life of her family's political affairs with an organization she has little or no interest in. Except... for the prized Crest of the heir in their organization. She believes that with it, her Magecraft is assured to reach perfection.

Biography: Elsi de Luca lived in the lofty grasp of the Familia Eisteril. The De Luca Magus line had lost progress of their magic crest two hundred years during the middle ages and had to start again two hundred years later. They were only invited into the family primarily because of their predecessors who were contracted under geas by the main family alongside many others. This magic cabal had a different way of doing things. With one of those upheld traditions being that potential heirs were forced to fight for the Eisteril's magic crest either to the death or submission until there is only one remaining. Elsi used to be one of those competitors and after seeing the Magic Crest of the Familia Eisteril for herself, she was overcome with ambition, and with that ambition comes pressure from her Family Line.

If she wasn't going to have it then perhaps the heir of the De Luca will. Countless schemes and political intrigue were normalcy, chaos had been spiraling within the halls of the Eisteril Amalgamate and yet it remains standing despite such a rowdy lifestyle.

Elsi was eventually offered a position in Sponheim Abbey like some of the members of her organization, including the current head. She's only ever heard of a wish-granting ritual being held in Budapest while she was working. Like any greedy magus with a slightly lower standing, she took off without anyone noticing until it was already too late.

Motivation for the Holy Grail: To repair the damage to his circuits and insure his child has a better future.

Personality: Despite being dealt a bad hand in life, Olivier doesn't resent his father, or family. Rather, he resents his lot in life specifically. A cosmic, unnatural force that he can blame all his problems on. Fate. His successes are acquired through hard work, diligence, and study. Despite having had help, he considers himself a self made man. One who conquered the trials of fate.
But he doesn't wish that kind of life on his successor. After all, while he does not resent his father, he understands that his father's mistakes have put a greater burden on him. Perhaps if he father had not made his poor choice, then Olivier himself would be further along. Still, that is life, and nobody knows for sure how it turns.
Olivier is as such, not a cruel person. What he is though... Is hard. Uncompromising, and harsh on the realities of life. Still, it is the goal of a father to insure that his heir has the best life possible. So, Olivier's quest is one to correct his poor lot in life, and to insure that his family wants for nothing.
A real father-figure.
What he cares about outside all that... Well luxury for one. the accumulation of wants, while insuring he has his needs met. Sure, he would never deny another of their needs, but if their wants or needs worsen his wants or needs, he will take the best route possible to insure his wants and needs come before theirs. Selfish? Maybe. But he has to make sure his family comes first.

Biography: A thousand years ago, the Terrent Family officially formed under their head of family, Thadeus Terrent. A wealthy aristocrat, he sought magecraft for the status it would bring him and to insure that his crops would grow better than that of neighboring lords in other parts of Rome's territories. A self-made man (or so the records claim), he managed to gain providence amongst his peers and stature befitting his talents. Nobody in the Terrent family questions this.
It was not until his son, Thadeus Nigelious Terrent (TNT) that the family actually gained great notoriety within magical circles. It was Thadeus Nigelious who developed the family's founding motto, and developed most of the land and resources that the family would fall upon in following generations. Nigelious' heir would follow as an unimportant footnote, but his grandson Olivier Terrent the First would set about gathering demons. These demons he placed into a cauldron, and then sealed up, never to be opened. This would become "The Demon's Cauldron" which members of the Olivier family have been using ever since to produce more demons, or to study in the hopes of reaching the Root.
While the bloodline has risen with Olivier Terrent the third, and fallen with Percival Terrent the seventh, there is little doubt that the Terrent Family is perhaps the most important name in Daemonology at the Clocktower. Unfortunately, in the 1800s, Olivier Terrent the fourth was met with tragedy. He lost control, and his body was taken over by a daemon. This daemon took over his life, slept with his wife, and wasted the family's fortunes on frivolities. The daemon which had isolated itself from the rest of the family, was eventually discovered by another member of the Clocktower. This damaged the family's reputation in the eyes of the Clocktower, and Olivier's child Christopher Terrent would spend many years of his life dedicated to desperately fighting the family's damaged reputation. But Christopher was not a great mage himself, and while his son was a greater mage than he, none of the family showed any particular greatness or talent that might undo the damage in a single generation.
Until, Thomas Terrent had an idea. His child, Olivier Terrent the Fifth was about to be born. He had an idea. A horrible idea, but if it succeeded it would rock the Clocktower. He attempted to have a daemon possess his child in the womb, so that upon being born human and daemon would exist within equilibrium. This plan failed.
While not going into the details, Olivier Terrent was born with a magical system ravaged by the failures of the experiment. His magical circuits damaged beyond repair, and yet he wondered if the daemon had actually been properly purged...
He was a proper heir of course, but the damage to his circuits followed him. He had a more fragile magical constitution than his colleges, and while he was talented enough to raise above the others in his classes, he would never be able to overcome his own damages. Forever fighting the fact that his results would always be shallow. He understood the theories. He had found work-arounds for his issues. And yet he was haunted by it.
Today... He expects to be a father with an heir of his own. His wife wants a child. But he fears the damage will spread to his heir. He fears... That he will be the broken chain that brings his family to ruin.
But as he contemplated this... A magical crest appeared on his hand. A crest that declared... Join the Holy Grail War. Perhaps he shall fix himself there.

- Daemonolgy - What is a daemon but an elaborate curse? The Terrent family, realizing how their bloodline was too weak to properly match other mages of higher magical talent, sought out ways to control daemons so that the daemons could properly educate, or operate on their behalf.
This allows Olivier to create daemons using the left behind wishes of those that die, and transform them into those that follow the Terrent family. It is such that that Terrent family are more concerned with the contracts they forge with these nameless daemons, than actual magecraft.
Olivier himself is quite good at writing contracts and maintaining control over various daemons and their needs. He is often seen followed by various daemons using corpses as disguises.
- Poppetcraft - A doll made to represent a person, for casting spells on that person or to aid that person through magic. Poppets are made from roots, or clay. Olivier creates poppets that act as contract holders, or to curse others. These poppets can be used to take the karmic punishment of a curse from him, or to punish others.
Olivier has managed to create several poppets that can take away his pain. These poppets will eventually break depending on the degree of pain and the length. Some injuries can even be transferred over to poppets as well.
- Black Magic - The magic of those said to drift further to the dark side of things. Though that is a major exaggeration. It's a particularly broad field of magecraft, covering such subjects as flying brooms, necromancy, possession, etc. It's one of the keys to proper sympathetic magecraft.

I challenge this victory because it is unreachable to so many. I seek the glory of victory that lies beyond the horizon. I will lay into the conquest of this land and reap its prizes for myself, and by my might I shall demonstrate to all that this belongs to me.

Hmm? A plan for it if I win you say? Once I win I will incarnate as the mighty hero I am to take upon myself the quest to find 'that place', then, as that would be the only challenge he left behind for me to take. Even if it meant burrowing through the world itself, fighting armies alone, and even burning up as Icarus did during his journey. I will get there and leave my prints in the sand, for both of us. That will be the final respect to be paid to the man I knew like a brother."

Personality: The half-brother of Alexander who was his childhood friend, the stalwart and loyal Companion who fought his enemies with him, the brave Somatophylakes who rode alongside him into the fray, the cunning and tactical Diadochi that captured and buried the body of "the Great", and the wise and great divine Pharaoh who founded Egypt's last great dynasty with a strong and steady hand. Such are the qualities that are possessed and wielded by Ptolemy. A sober man seasoned by war and honed by years of experience in both administration and rulership, yet able to have fun and laugh around his allies as well as enjoy himself. One of his most notable qualities in life was possessing a certain level of restraint and caution, at least in his territorial and kingly ambitions as compared to his peers. Yet at the same time he will inevitably put everything he has on the line to pursue what he desires, a trait most notably shown with him literally going on an ancient covert ops mission to steal and then bury the corpse of his former commander and friend. He holds himself with a sense of pride as a friend of "that man", and exerts an aura of pressure and confidence fitting for a divine ruler of Egypt.

He actively seeks the pursuit of the Holy Grail with all of his very being in order to achieve one "stupid, foolish, whimsical, and utterly selfish wish" without any restraint. His drive will see him put all he has on the line and his pride for one last campaign, to undertake one last blazing trail of conquest with his own two hands, and to make one last push to "adventure to the very edge of the world, and to finally touch that unreachable shore" he himself seeks...even if it sees him burn up to naught but ashes in the process. While he will naturally still exercise his sense of caution and sobriety along the way, he seems to take this 'second life' as almost a game of sorts at others.

Ptolemy is the literal child and the living incarnation of the god Amun-Ra as a Pharaoh, the half-brother of Alexander the Great (a "son of Zeus") by the same father, and a descendant of Heracles. Due to all of this, his Divine Spirit aptitude resembles the ancient Pharaohs and is naturally higher than the successive members of the Ptolemaic Dynasty would possess.

Diadochi: A

-A skill that embodies the bearer's status and merits as a "successor to Alexander the Great", measuring attributes such as one's use of military skill, legitimacy in secession (including associated factors such as having buried his body), rulership capabilities, amount of land they took/conquered/secured, and all other such metrics by which a "successor" of "that man" would naturally be measured by. Naturally this skill retains its quality as an amalgamation of the wielder's charisma, but there is more to it than simply this. This 'active' effect arises from the natural anecdote of the Diadochi as conquerors who incorporated the lands that were once Alexander's into their own territories and nations, a thing as natural to them as successors of "that man" as breathing is to normal folk, and their struggles to take land and resources and various things of Alexander's and so forth from each other during the Wars of the Diadochi. Indeed this skill grants the capacity for the servant to actively 'incorporate' land/territory in general, basically seizing/conquering it as their own to make use of without having to set up a territory. In application this allows the wielder to draw magical energy from the land itself, among other such effects that 'incorporating' the land would naturally carry.

Royal Road: -

-The famous idiom of a "royal road" originated from Ptolemy I Soter's own words after a conversation he had with the mathematician Euclid, and embodies to a way of 'attaining or reaching something without trouble' and 'the easiest, most direct, or most effective way to reach or achieve something'. Or in other words, as a more proper translation of Euclid's words makes clearer, literally means taking a "short-cut" to achieve something more easily. Similar to how the thought experiment of the "Ship of Theseus" would be connected to the Heroic Spirit Theseus in turn, so too is this idiom by virtue of its legend attached to Ptolemy.

In effect this skill is very simple in that it just 'creates the easiest route to a given destination', or a 'royal road' that allows one to instantly reach a desired destination. Rather than 'teleportation' however, it simply works in a naturally non-Euclidean manner to the ends of 'connecting two points in space to allow the wielder to move instantly to the desired location'. It is a skill that is great for 'reaching destinations', and has utility in and out of battle as a result of its nature.

Description: It is something that embodies the rebirth and restoration of ancient Egypt under Ptolemy's rule, even the rise and return of the ancient authority of the Pharaohs and their divinity to the throne. While it is called a “Divine Beast”, though, it is not strictly a Divine Beast of the Phantasmal Species. His work to revive and bring a continuation of the thousands of years old history of Egypt was changed into a Noble Phantasm connected with the very symbol of the Pharaoh's divinity, something very much fitting for the founder of Egypt's final dynasty. Likewise it can be said the visage of a serpent ties into the various serpentine legends and myths that came to involve Ptolemy afterwards. Indeed one can also consider this Noble Phantasm of the first Ptolemaic Pharaoh to naturally be the 'reverse' of that of the last of the line. One who used the serpent to end their life and a nation, and one that brought the serpent representing the Divinity of the Pharaohs back to its proper glory. Likewise, this Noble Phantasm can be said to embody the acceptance of Ptolemy by the gods of ancient Egypt as a continuation of the Pharaohs of old.

Otherwise this Noble Phantasm is very much similar to that of Cleopatra, mirroring it. It summons an enormous monster, a flame-covered serpent with a striped pattern of blue and gold. Though due to owning the Riding Skill in his case, Ptolemy is able manipulate it and use it safely both as a mount and a means to attack and combat his enemies. If one owns the Divinity Skill, likewise, damage received from it is reduced in proportion to the skill’s rank.

To conjure and use this beast as a mount and/or for battle does not require a true-name activation, though unleashing its full power does just as it is when this serpent is used by his descendant.

Description: One of the great Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, a legendary lighthouse surrounded possessed as a Noble Phantasm by both Ptolemy I Soter and his successor Ptolemy II Philadelphus. A shining beacon of the ancient world's achievements, and for centuries being one of the tallest manmade buildings, it became a symbol of the ingenuity, power, and height of ancient human civilization, and though this and by nature of it being a lighthouse it naturally contains the 'light of civilization' within itself. Because it was in legend a potent optic weapon able to burn up ships like 30 miles away, it also takes the form of a lance Ptolemy wields due to its "inherent qualities as a weapon". As a weapon, however, the lighthouse used the same general principle as the similar light-harnessing weapon of a 'certain Ancient Greek engineer' in order to function: Absorbing light and mana and accelerating it to create a destructive beam of light to destroy the target. As a Noble Phantasm, however, it instead uses the "light of civilization" contained within it as the light source for its offensive capabilities.

Naturally this lance can be used as a proper weapon, and likewise can be used to simply fire off A-rank attack beams as another means of ranged attack. Yet by bearing the 'light of civilization' and using it, consequentially all of this Noble Phantasm's attacks have an additional attribute stemming from that 'light of civilization'. Tied to how Ptolemy as a ruler brought order to Egypt after centuries of people fighting over it, how human civilization brings order upon the world, and similarly with lighthouses being used by civilization to bring order to the sea in particular, this attribute stemming from the light of civilization "forces things toward order"/"enforces order"/"makes sure things occur as fate has intended".

When activated by speaking it true name, this Noble Phantasm turns into a giant 'light of civilization' beam lance that stretches out as far as the original lighthouse was tall. In this manner it can be used to slash, stab, pierce, and otherwise hit enemies with it, simply being a gigantic stretched-out lightsaber that is at its most deadly and powerful. Ptolemy can wield it freely and frighteningly swiftly in this activated form, which is a total of 135 meters long (as long as the original lighthouse was tall). It is capable of cutting with ease through mundane things like people, cars, and even buildings whilst under the effects of its true name activation.

Description: A Noble Phantasm that crystalizes the essence of the Library of Alexandria as the "greatest archive of knowledge in the ancient world" and as containing "1000 years worth of human history" due to its history, contents, and of course the existing human beliefs and legends about it. In effect, however, this simply adds up to making this Noble Phantasm what the Library actually was in life: A repository for 1000 years worth of the 'light of human civilization'. This Noble Phantasm is of course not the physical library itself, but the very core and nature of it's purpose made manifest. It was a place where the knowledge of ancient human civilization was gathered, accrued, recorded, calculated, and kept, and as such it becoming a repository for the light of civilization itself is only reflecting what it already was. Naturally Ptolemy can draw upon this repository passively to empower attacks and such with this 'light of civilization', albeit at a greater mana cost for said empowered attacks, and can even use it to greatly empower his "Pháros Aléxandros" Noble Phantasm and in all its uses/attacks by employing this Noble Phantasm as a literal power/light source instead (also at a higher mana cost). He can also empower his "Uraeus Anagénnisi" Noble Phantasm by connecting this Noble Phantasm to it as well.

All the above is, though, the Library's uses without a true name invocation. When a true name activation is actually used for this Noble Phantasm, the 'light of civilization' within the repository is converted into heat values and is unleashed in a powerful but directed surging wave of destructive obliterating light. It is a Noble Phantasm eerily similar in a fashion to "that" Noble Phantasm used in another far-flung timeline, but frankly speaking is its own thing and on a smaller scale than "all of pan-human history" since it only contains 1000 years worth. Even so this penetrating and potent attack exhibits extreme damage values of its own, and should not be underestimated. This use of the library as a tool of destruction is meant to represent the destruction of the actual physical library itself, as well as embodying the aspect of human civilization to ultimately weaponize 'knowledge' as has been true through the ages (even into modern times). Though it is of note that use of this attack does not destroy/extinguish the contents of the repository itself, though it is a costly Noble Phantasm to use in turn.

Camillio fulfills all obligations expected of him with nary a complaint, though if one were to peer closely at him his pleasant smile would reveal itself to be hollow, with uncaring eyes peering down their own.

If they dare to hold their gaze, one just might be able to catch a glimpse of fierce desire behind them.

Biography: There are few families that embody the image brought to mind when one thinks of the archetypical archmagus. It would just so happen that the Seguvia’s would be one of them. Boasting a long and storied history over 900 years, the Seguvia’s have firmly entrenched themselves in magical society.

With the birth of Camillio, it would have seemed that the Seguvia’s would be secure in their comfortable position. That Camillio would be so talented was only seen as appropriate with such a pedigree behind him. A small shard of dissatisfaction was seeded into Camillio by these expectations, though he would still find joy in immersing himself in the world of magecraft, even if his own efforts would be masked by the immense weight of his family’s history.

If life had continued without any major events of note, Camillio would have spent the remainder of his life sequestered away within the family holdings, content to further progress the family craft, if disappointed that his name and recognition would be subsumed under the accomplishments of the Seguvia’s. However, the eruption of the World Wars proved to be an irresistible opportunity to capture more resources.

The first war proved to be profitable, with many materials, mystical and material, captured or procured from fallen houses. Tragedy would befall Camillio on the second.

Briefly having taken a position within the Faculty of Policies in a political move, Camillio was assigned to a task force with the mission to investigate and if need be to convict and arrest members of the Thule Society. It would be during this assignment that he would be engaged in a duel with a formidable opponent. Though details are scarce, he would survive this ordeal with both magic circuits and crest damaged beyond what a tuner could feasibly repair within a lifetime.

As a result, he would resign from his position and retreat to the family estate, his already scarce appearances at social gatherings now reduced even further. There were rumours of an appointment set up with the Lord of the Adra Castle, but with it’s collapse such rumours have been silenced. News of his stirring have been murmured as of late, as it would appear that Camillio has announced his full intent to participate in the Budapest Grail War.

Alchemy: Alchemy focused on the transmutation of the material into immaterial and it’s inverse. While it’s roots were established in the spiritual purification and ascension of earthly materials, the Seguvia’s were influenced by the discoveries and musings of Paracelssus von Hohenheim, and so incorporated his materials into their research.

One theory produced by Parcelsus, and the cornerstone of the Seguvia’s magecraft, was the supposition that the light that came from the sun was that of the root. With further study and exploration on the subject, the Seguvia’s have pioneered a form of alchemy that transmutates matter into energy. While the opposite can occur, the costs of such a undertaking are considered prohibitively inefficient and wasteful compared to alternative methods. By using the sun as a ‘perfected existence’ and it’s light in order to connect with platonic forms, a form of conceptual ascension has been the major focus of research as of late.

Description: The most notable feat that anyone would know of Frederick II was how he talked the current Sultan of Egypt, Al-Kamil, into giving up control of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Nazareth to the Christians without bloodshed as long as the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque were kept under Muslim rule. Though in real life, there were numerous political reasons for the Sultan to agree to that treaty, and the results lasted only for ten years, the fact was that it was an impressive feat of diplomacy nonetheless, a feat amplified by popular imagination and exaggeration.

As a Noble Phantasm, the Treaty can be invoked to give Frederick II's spoken words an astonishing power of bewitchment, enabling him to tell a Master or a weaker-willed Servant to give him one thing he wants. This only works once, however, and cannot be abused to trick people into lasting enslavement. However, it can bewitch a Master into giving up their command seals and dropping from the fight entirely, if it is used right. Note that if the Master is deaf or wearing earplugs or otherwise cannot hear Frederick II, this NP does not work.

Motivation for the Holy Grail: "Bring my land back to what it was." Remove the influence of secular logic from the governance and people. Return the nation to what it was before; a land where her kind were required, and respected.

Personality: An existence at the knife's edge. The split between 'the caretaker of a small town' and 'a cold blooded huntress' cannot actually be said to exist in her mentality - they are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the latter is considered component of the former, and that it would be impossible to manage the spiritual needs and protect them from restless spirits without that cold iron at her core, to push her so. Kasumi's life is that of one spent making herself continuously necessary and reliable, but this is not out of a sense of obligation, nor a sense of genuine good-heartedness. Her ideals are hollow; her ambitions selfish. She wants to be necessary because she loves the look in the eye, and the tone the people use when they say, "I need your help, Ōishi-sama." And, always, she would smile without fail, as largehearted as any hero would, and reply, "Of course. What do you need?" Her entire life is spent garnering the respect, the adoration, of people around her, but only ever for herself.

In this way, she's a rotten person, who really only cares for herself, but takes care of everyone else, anyway. And, so, she forms a strange twinned nature in herself. On one hand, a reliable, upbeat, helpful woman, capable of handling anything put to her - a pillar of her community, and a friend to everyone. On the other, a self-centered narcissist, working in the light only to fulfill her ego. No one can argue that the results are largely negative; she does, in fact, help people and make their lives materially better, but it's also natural to be repulsed by that nature. In all honesty, she's as disgusted by herself as you ought be. When every smile is a lie, when ever promise is self serving, when your entire nature is a facade --- well, that's what being a magus is. Even with all the praise she gets, it isn't enough. Still, she wants for more - there are enough stories of the old days she heard in her training that she couldn't help but wish for those days. Those days when her kind would have the ear of kings. Things in those days, she's sure, were better.

Biography: It is wholly improper to discuss mikoism and the families involved in the practice without also discussing the influence of Buddhism and the slow erosion of the rights and traditions of the practice in the mid 1700s. Our story, of course, does not start there; the legacy of this family stretches back century, administering and protecting a small village, and advising the local warlord. They were a permanent fixture on the land, as immovable as the mountains. Lords would come and go, but the Ōishi would stay. It couldn't last forever, though - for hundreds of years since before her family was established, the Buddhists were, gradually, shifting the political and religious landscape. It was a glacial process, but over time, the lords turned away from her family, as they turned away from mikos across the nation. The emperor fell from heaven, and became a mere mortal, only to be briefly restored directly before a cataclysmic war, where he promptly fell from grace again. In the end, it was always damned; the influence of Western thought, the arrival of Buddhists, the steady decline of their magecraft. All of these and more would lead to the decline of their tradition, bringing them from a center point of daily life to a mere curio - a sideshow.

This state of affairs, obviously, disgusts Kasumi and her family. It is the shame and disgust of lost pride, of status denied, and of power stripped away. It is not, however, a loss in regards to wealth; this family was never particularly wealthy, so one cannot blame their frustration on greed of that kind. This is entirely based on their pride. Modern society has little need of them, compared to those long gone days.

But to focus more tightly on what, rather than who, this family is, an analysis of their magecraft tells much of the story. They are an 'animal family' - respected, but feared, and rarely mingled with. They serve a dog god, a hunt goddess, and thus are hunters themselves, their entire lives focused on the destruction of 'the profane'; these days, that mostly means wraiths, but they have hunted Dead Apostles at some points of their history, as well. It's possible that, once, some of there number were genuinely noble protectors of the weak, resolving trouble just for the sake of it, though this is no longer the case. In modern nights, the hunts are more simple than before. In modern nights, the praise is thinner than before. In modern nights, there is less and less need for those who stand in that darkness to protect the everyman, and the everyman does not believe in them in the first place. For a family that has always focused on protecting the affairs of the modern world, instead of entirely self enrichment, the reason to go on seems ever more distant as time goes on. In other words, by dedicating their lives to humans, they have been absolutely left behind and made irrelevant. Eventually, they're sure, they will simply burn out, the last echoes of a dying kind, with nothing to mark their place in history, their only memory played out by those who dress and act the way they do, but are not them.

Mikoism - A genuinely common and widespread cultural phenomenon even in modern day Shinto temples - the women attendants of the thousands of shrines across the nation. This is a role that's fairly common; some families do it as a part of a long family tradition, some women do it as a short job to help get through their mundane education. This is, however, not the implication that they are all secretly magus. Instead, it should be understood that they are 'miko, but do not practice mikoism'. In the days long since passed, being a miko was to be mystical - to practice the secret magic arts of the Shinto faith. To commune with the gods, to speak to the dead, to cleanse sin and impurity, and to annihilate evil spirits that clung to the world. For hundreds of years, this was the understanding of the world; miko were those who spoke to gods, and that was that. This, obviously, could not hold - though it did hold here relatively longer than most other 'civilized' nations, it could not last forever. Regulation began, and slowly, the understanding of the role of miko would disappear, remaining mainly in the aesthetic, and not in function.

Of course, this collapse is mirrored in nearly every other place in the world, so it isn't really that special.

Mikoism is fundamentally a shamanistic practice, largely component of communing with gods and spirits. To this end, Kasumi is skilled in various possession techniques and the investment of spirits into physical objects. Further, the Ōishi family is tied to dog spirits, and makes use of them in much of their magecraft. Miko are also known as those that manage sin and impurity, and so she can be considered an expert in washing away sin. It is also possible to invoke parts of gods; that is, to utilize the name and power of the various Shinto gods to evoke a related effect. This should not be misunderstood as something so grandiose as 'a fragment of Authority', but rather merely a reference to them.

Curses - An unspoken truth of miko and shaman generally is their relationship to witchcraft and black magic; that vile art of cursing a man to misfortune or death. This would seem to be a complete turn from the rest her nature; how can one who goes hand in hand with gods dirty oneself with curses? But this is a human misunderstanding - in the first place, they were always the same. Miko, and especially those belonging to 'animal family', and especially those with ties to inugami - dog spirits - were always feared, and with good reason. With knowledge of purity, comes knowledge of sin. With understanding of the divine comes understanding of the profane. This must be understood. Thus, it should be considered natural that even one who wishes to destroy evil spirits might find this capacity. Generally speaking, these curses are performed and exercised by the means of her animal spirits as a delivery mechanism, but this can go as far as ordering them to outright possess a person to drive them mad and make them ill. In the old days, it was said that those killed by this method were found with dozens of bite marks across their body. These days, it's just that they got sick and died.

Magic Crest: The Ōishi crest is approximately five hundred years old, and mostly contains the secrets in regards to communicating with their family spirits and kami. The formation was done to help compete with the western tradition, if the case arose - this is one way that they went well out of their way to 'keep with the times', so to speak. The crest was formed around an old set of stone-etched purity seals, but that is no longer relevant.

Ilya’s motivation for the Holy Grail stems from a desire to reconnect with what was once lost - her dearest friends from the past. From Dobrynya Nikitich and Alyosha Popovich of the bogatyrs to Svyatogor the giant to Prince Vladimir. She wishes to see all of her beloved friends once more...so that she may challenge each and one of them to a fight.

Personality:

Ilya could be described as a boisterous girl, known for being cheery, generous and a bit simple minded. She is dedicated to protecting those she feels responsible for, whether she has known them her whole life or has just met them. She tends to have a pinch of temperament, most commonly recognized from the tale of when Prince Vladimir failed to extend an invitation to a party of his to her, causing Ilya to stomp through town, angrily ripping steeples off of churches until Prince Vladimir sent a personal invitation her way.

A skill that grants the Servant a temporary attribute bonus if acting in the defense of others. Ilya is an icon who acted in defense of a nation- the guardian of the Rus who held cities against countless invasions. When designating a target to be protected, the legendary defender of the Rus arises once more, and her defensive power is significantly increased. When combined with the effects of the Personal Skill "Castle Skin," she can be considered an unbreakable wall.

Eye of the Mind (True) B:
A heightened capacity for observation, refined through training, discipline and experience. Ilya's instincts have been honed to a razor's edge over the course of countless battles, and her skill for deduction and analysis is nothing to read over either. She is capable of calm analysis of battle conditions even when in danger, and can deduce an appropriate course of action after considering all possibilities to escape from a predicament.

Body of the Rus B:
The exclusive skill belonging to Ilya. It is said that her skin boasted the same strength as a castle wall to the point that attacks that would be mortal to ordinary men bounce harmlessly off of her with her charge being akin to the blows of a siege engine. This grants her an innate level of physical protection, making her worthy of the title "moving fortress." However, this does not protect against attacks which do not pass the barrier of the skin.

Upon her travels, Ilya came across a Giant sleeping atop his horse. Due to unexpected circumstances, Ilya and the Giant, who would later be learned to go by the name of Svyatogor, became good friends with one another. Continuing their travels together, the two spent a rather long time in each other’s company. One day their travels led them upon the curious discovery of a peculiarly large coffin. Concerned that the coffin was meant for one or the other, both set off on a foot race to reach the coffin first. Beating Svyatogor, Ilya climbed into the coffin and laid herself within it. Immediately she noticed something amiss, for the coffin was much too large to fit her body, but rather, it was the exact size of someone of a Giant’s stature. Trading places with Svyatogor, Ilya watched in distress as the coffin door began to swing shut on her dear friend. Try as she might to stop it, she found herself powerless against the door, and before it could finally latch shut, Svyatogor beckoned Ilya to draw near to his face. Drawing one last breath, the Giant exhaled a burst of holy breath over Ilya, endowing a portion of his mighty strength unto her body.
It is with this immense strength that Ilya Muromets was able to achieve the feats that she did, defending and protecting city after city from invasion. She grew to be a hero, a protector of her homelands and of its people.
This legend focuses around the breath that blessed Ilya with the strength to become the women of legend as most remember. Steadying herself, whether in the midst of battle or in preparation for attack, Ilya can draw all of her focus to one single moment, and one single breath. A quick, sharp intake. A low, whistling exhale. Just one breath created her legend, and once more, just one breath strengthens her when it is most necessary. Invoking the true name of this noble phantasm following her focused breath, Ilya's superhuman strength is magnified once more. Ilya once happened upon a foal, dirty and malnourished, barely clinging to life. She chose to take this foal under her care, nursing him to health, and in doing so gained a lifelong ally. She can come off as arrogant; the sort of person who is unable to stand by while others are making mistakes and often wishes to correct those mistakes to the best of her ability. However, due to this it can make her statements appear to lose sincerity.

To create is to destroy. To purify until the materials are refined to be utilized. These concepts are intrinsically intertwined within alchemy; to create, one must destroy to reach perfection.

House Schwenussen was founded within the Moravian region of the Kingdom of Bohemia. The pursuit of perfection was always ingrained into their very being. At first the pursuit of wealth, now as Magi the pursuit of the “end”. To reach that end, they practiced to achieve this end within the primordial existence distilled from materials. However, they seemed to hit a brick wall and the progression of their craft was halted through their own ineptitude.

That was until Elenorzva was given control of the family after her grandfather. A snobbish man who Elenorzva detested due to his simple nature and adherence to politics even at the cost of his craft. The sort of person who would rather bumble about their “get rich quick” schemes rather than put the effort towards such a thing.

Perhaps a blessing then, for Elenorzva was considered by many to be able to revolutionize their family’s craft. To bring focus on something that was intrinsically unfocused. To make breakthroughs where such a thing was considered impossible, even at her young age. The Schwenussen were given proper representation under the stewardship of this young girl.

Elenorzva had decided to study under the tutelage at a young age of someone who her father had highly recommended, though due to their unfortunate demise, had to take the next best thing.

Granted the mark of the chosen, Elenorzva had heard there was a conflict brewing in the city of Budapest from her fellow classmates. And so she left a message about her upcoming war on her professor’s desk, leaving for the city.

Motivation for the Holy Grail: Living a life without truly knowing his mother and being unable to recognize her when she made herself apparent to him has filled Arcas with regret. His wish is to hunt together with his mother, without being clouded by illusion. In truth, what Arcas truly desires is to accept and welcome his mother’s embrace, to understand the interpersonal connections that humans close to each other possess.

Personality: The strong, silent type. As the first king of Arcadia, Arcas speaks and acts in an expectantly old-fashioned manner. He treats his Master similarly to how he had treated the subjects that he ruled over, as a shepherd who keenly watches over his herd. Due to his circumstances living in the untouched wilds of Arcadia, Arcas has a difficult time coming to an understanding with other humans, especially when it comes to close relationships and feelings of love. Like his mother and father, who both cared for their son but were forced away due to circumstance, Arcas is a distant protector who quietly watches over those under his care.

The protection of Ursa Minor, the constellation representing Arcas himself, as well as his transformation into a bear by his father, Zeus, along with Arcas’s mother, Callisto, who had become Ursa Major. The brightest of Ursa Minor’s stars is Polaris, the North Star, pinned eternally by Hera and used to guide sailors north due to its constant placement in the sky. At the same time, Ursa Minor also points towards Hera’s orchard, where her immortality-granting apples are grown. Carrying the concept of immortality, this Noble Phantasm represents the protection granted to Arcas by his father, replicating his wondrous restoration after being cut to pieces and served to the gods by his grandfather, Lycaon.

Once Arcas sustains heavy damage to his body, he becomes suffused in soothing starlight, his body being restored to its “original form,” brought back to the same state as when he was originally summoned. Cleansed of all effects that have once burdened him, negative status effects are burned away as a result of this restoration, including accumulated damage. In other words, healing power is equivalent to his max health + 100. A “time curse” bestowed upon his body by the king of the Greek gods, Arcas is effectively “immortal” due to the effects of this Noble Phantasm. Aside from starving him of magical energy, only massive damage that can burst through even Arcas’s restoration is enough to destroy him outright.

Ursa Minor possesses a secret second component, a technique performed by turning the blessing outward. While Arcas is affected by this Noble Phantasm, he can invoke it, allowing the searing starlight to release outward from him, his entire legend encapsulated into the form of a laser beam. Arcas, who had ruled the idyllic bytopia of Arcadia, a civilization of unspoiled nature, and who had brought civilization (agriculture) to Arcadia. In other words, an attack that bestows the concept of Arcadia. Rather than burning others away with starfire, all targets are instead healed by Arcas’s blessing of restoration. Plant life is healed, flowers begin to bloom, and even man-made structures such as buildings are reconstructed, brought forth by Arcadia’s dual nature.

A trump card that is used to mend instead of harm, it could be said that such a Noble Phantasm is unfit for those who wish to win the Holy Grail War. Aside from being left at a critical state upon completion of this Noble Phantasm, the blessing (curse) of Zeus would also leave his body, bestowed upon the land.

Motivation for the Grail: One whose desires in life were met completely. She was loved by one who saw her original form. Her child achieved great success in life. She acquired great knowledge, and met gods and bodhisattvas alike. There is no desire she holds for herself.

However, there is something she wishes for, deeply. The ‘sister’ who was by her side for that wonderful life, who gave herself in service without ever asking anything for herself. Her gratitude to that woman is as deep as it could ever be.

Currently, she wishes to achieve the Holy Grail purely for her sister’s sake. Though even Caster isn’t quite sure what she would do with it.

Personality: A pleasant housewife with an interest in medicine. Though she is a Caster, she lacks the mentality of a magus. Rather, she is motivated primarily by love for her family. A motherly type who’s prone to doting on those around her and fussing over their health.

Indeed, meeting her, one would certainly consider her ‘human’.

However, if when angered to a breaking point, it’s possible that the ‘demon’ who destroyed Jinshan Temple would appear, striking with the fury of a mother protecting her children.

Biography: There are many versions of the legend of the white snake. Early tales painted her as a demon tempting a good man, but over time, she was seen more and more as simply a good person who happened to be a snake. It seems these later versions are more accurate, or perhaps they’ve simply influenced her summoning...

The core of the tale; a snake falls in love with a human, and takes the form of a woman until they fall in love. They have a child together, but one day a priest tricks the man into feeding her wine, which reveals her true form. He dies of shock, and she finds a herb of immortality to return him to life. Though he still loves her, she ends up imprisoned beneath Leifeng Pagoda, until her son grows up and rescues her. Incidentally, accompanying her throughout is another snake-turned-human, her sister Xiaoquing.

Since she’s a Caster with low-ranked strength in the first place, it isn’t a particularly useful skill. Besides, if she’s getting into close-quarter fights at all as a human, she’s probably already lost.

Weakness (Intoxication): C

Deriving from anecdotes about Caster’s drinking of wine being the catalyst that revealed her true form to her beloved. Though it was a form of wine that had properties antithetical to snakes, spirits and poison - well, nonetheless, it was still her intoxication that caused her form to change. Becoming drunk will cause her to deactivate her second Noble Phantasm.

In other words, she simply can’t handle her booze. It’s something she’s terribly embarrassed by, so please don’t bring it up.

High-Speed Incantation: C

The ability to hasten incantation speed. Higher-ranked spells can be cast within the speed of a single action. However, sometimes she gets confused about the shape of her tongue and makes a mistake.

White Spirit of the Lake: A

Bai Suzhen’s original form was a Divine Beast, a great spiritual snake that dwelled within the beautiful West Lake.

As such a creature, she had the ability to exert control over bodies of water and weather, as a natural ability, enhanced by her self-cultivation. As such, it requires neither preparation nor incantation. It carries through to her human form because it is an ability connected to the spirit, and not a burden of the body.

Controlling the flow of water such as to destroy a building with crashing waves, drawing in rain, and even flying on a cloud are all possible applications of this skill.

Skuld wishes for the opportunity to attempt her vengeance on her half-brother and her father once more, this time without failing to account for the lone survivor of the final battle.

Personality: The Half-Elven Princess Skuld, who became Queen of the Island of Oland and slaughtered her half-brother Hrolfr Kraki and all but one of his companions. Cold, callous, and cruel to her enemies, that is the image that Princess Skuld presents. Indeed, her desire is to fulfill the image of a wicked seductress. She is arrogant and cruel, taking pleasure in mocking and manipulating others around her. And yet, she is perhaps too eager to be praised, to be treated as someone worthy of attention and appreciation. For there is another side of Princess Skuld. A girl who was simply guided through life by others, a girl who naively trusted in those around her until she was twisted by the horrific discovery of the treatment of her mother by her father. Indeed, in spite of a nature described as sadistic cruelty, Skuld will show her Master consideration provided she likes them, mostly through the lens of treating them as a servant and insisting on being praised. Still, she will never see the dead as anything other then tools. In spite of her nature as a seductress, Skuld is highly self-conscious about her own petite figure, and secretly feels she does not meet the image she attempts to portray.

Appearance: "Behold the Magecraft of the Elven Queen!" A petite girl, short in stature, with dark green eyes and black hair. Her crown is gold, with green flames burning in it. Her outfit is largely black, with green highlights and bleached white bones.

Bio: No particular differences from the mythological version present, aside from ascribing revenge for the abuse of her mother by her father as a motivation.

Description: A bounded field that recreates the conditions of the island Kingdom of Oland as it was during Caster's brief but devastating reign. Her desire for vengeance against her own family twisted the island into a dark, cold place swarming with the dead. Within the Kingdom of Oland, there is no light nor heat, leaving it a place completely devoid of anything resembling life. Those who manage to breach the bounded field are left in a dark void of freezing temperatures. Servants who fail to pass a luck check suffer a rank down in all physical parameters as a result. As Oland is a replication of the location in which Caster's legend took place, once it is established it grants her a staging ground bonus as long as she is inside of it. Even when she is not, it vastly reduces the mana cost for the summoning of her undead and permits the invocation of monstrous creatures such as undead ice giants and skeletal wyverns. Even the raising of an undead dragon becomes possible, though the reanimated corpse of such a beast is far weaker then it was while it was alive. The chief limitations of this Noble Phantasm are its limited range and the time required for its establishment, as impressing the Kingdom of Oland upon the world is no simple ritual.

Description: The greatest and most terrifying beast that was brought to bear in the battle that saw the death of Hroflr Kraki and all but one of his companions. A slaughtering beast, the Quilled Boar is an enormous monster with skin made of interlocking quills and fire burning in its eye sockets. The quills all across its body are capable of being fired as projectiles, and its thundering hooves can crush even the sturdiest targets beneath them. Its tusks carve great rents in the ear and its teeth are sharp as swords. A monster with a taste for human flesh, the Quilled Boar will seek out and devour humans whenever it is able. Because of its nature as a barely controllable rampaging beast, Caster is reluctant to use it unless she is truly desperate and cannot think of any alternative plans. To summon the Quilled Boar in a populated area would lead to nothing less then a massacre.
