First post under the OP guy, god learn to read you illiterate goblin~ ;p
@Jangel13 wait do we keep our skills from the last edition, or are the other vets tryna pull a fast one here?
Second post of the page This time around the gm is going to join in as a goblin as well, the veterans will start of as hobgoblins with a single legacy item and their skills up till that point me and everyone else will start off with a clean slate
Appearance: She is very beautiful and attractive, more so than other goblins.
Personality: A relentless individual who pursues her own goals and desires, and in simple one could call her ‘greedy’. Whilst her drive and bravery can lead her to push ahead valiantly, or frankly perform even laborious tasks if it means getting something out of it herself, they are also just as likely to lead her into trouble. Whilst she is very possessive of ‘what is mine’, somewhat like dragons from certain folklores back on Earth, at the same time she can be rather amicable and friendly and even get along in general in social situations otherwise.
Past Life History: A yes-woman, a flirt, a beauty, and a criminal tease who lived much her life using others to her advantage and benefit. A child who grew up with everything and wanted more, and used her wits and charm to turn heads and empty wallets for her own sake. However, whilst a skilled manipulator she would eventually fall onto bad times after trying to pick at the wrong target and see her efforts all for naught. In the end she would be forced to pick up the pieces of her life and come to terms with it, before finding a husband and actually settling down.
She would ultimately become an anime lover and a kinder person in this latter half of her life, and ultimately make more income on the side from selling super-detailed cosplay attire to others and selling pictures of her cosplaying to boot. She would even go to conventions alongside her also anime-avid husband, both getting exposure for her work and fostering a deeper connection with her beloved and eventually her own kids. In the end, however, she would die when a victim of her former shenanigans ran her over with a car.
At the time she was out walking with her husband, heading from a parking lot to an anime convention in the city for a ‘date night’. Both her and her husband died instantly from the impact, and the driver would die of her own wounds in the ambulance soon after.
Skill: "Recreate" - To put it simply, the wielder of this skill can create 'fake' copies of items/things as well as mimic/copy the skills/abilities/techniques/powers of other living things for their own use. In other words the wielder 'recreates' capabilities they have witnessed, and objects they have seen/encountered, for their own use.
To recreate something, all the wielder needs to have done is have seen/perceived said object or capability they wish to recreate. This is because their senses and mind in general have been altered and tweaked by this skill to passively read, analyze, and retain this sort of information in their mind. Even the history of a recreated object or capability (aka: skill/ability/technique/power) is perceived and recorded by the wielder's mind, though this is simply a way to make a 'more convincing and stronger copy/mimicry/recreation' by 'recreating' the history of the original and applying it to the copied/mimicked/recreated version. The storage of all of this information, however, allows the wielder to recreate items and capabilities to make use of them over and over and over again. Like a rapid-fire copy machine, basically.
However, as a rule of thumb 'recreated' objects and capabilities are always inferior in quality and power to the originals and would lose to them in these specific aspects in a straight 1-v-1 every time. They are, however, superior in quality to 'mimicries' created using magic and such otherwise, basically making these 'recreations' to be 'high quality but inferior copies'. Likewise, these 'recreations' are all still just temporary 'mimicries' of the originals that will fade away in due time (items fading notably slower than recreated capabilities). Further, this skill does not take growth into account. What this means more specifically is that, for example, if you recreated a warrior's spear and spear-wielding skills, you only have the information of 'what that spear and spear-wielding skill was like at that point in time'. If that warrior from before has since honed their spear-wielding skills more, and their spear was enchanted and made more powerful and reforged, then you would have to see them both all over again to be able to recreate the stronger versions in turn.
Further limiting this power is also the wielder's state of evolution, or the strength of their soul, so the stronger the wielder becomes through evolution the more powerful the objects and capabilities they can actually recreate. As a base goblin, for example, you couldn't recreate the skills of a hobgoblin or an item that only something stronger than a hobgoblin could wield for one reason or another...but could do so when it comes to other goblins and the things they can utilize or own. Or if a hobgoblin wields a weapon or shield or other item they made as or could still wield as a goblin, then a base goblin with this power could recreate those objects in such a case.
Further, something like a divine blessing given to or inherited by a specific individual can't be recreated. Certain powers like 'can shoot out webs cause they killed enough spiders', techniques that can be learned such as weapon-wielding techniques, skills like sewing, etc, can be recreated though.
Finally, as an aside, in the specific case of 'recreated objects' there is another catch. If you 'overload' them with magical energy, then they can very very briefly match the power of the original item they were based after. As a result, however, they are outright and immediately destroyed in the aftermath of using them in such a state.
As a simple base goblin, recreations of objects and capabilities last for up to a maximum of five minutes before disappearing. This time frame increases exponentially with each evolution, going up to fifteen minutes if they were to evolve into a hobgoblin. If a certain line of evolution somehow synergized with this skill, then the time limit would exponentially increase even further going farther down that evolution line.
Against a mostly male tribe you will be incredibly op lol, I'm gonna have to cut down the power a bit on this one. Things that can have a sexual attraction to you can be under your influence. Undead and certain spirits will have no effect from this, or creatures under certain influences that are stronger then your own. Is this acceptable?
Appearance: Lexie has a moss green complexion, ashen grey eyes, and a thick mane of black hair falling just past her perky pointed ears. Her body is fit with well-defined muscles, and she moves with a grace that is rather odd to see in a goblin. She is of average height, weight, and build, but her knees and elbows are a bit pointy, and her fingers and toes marginally longer and slenderer than is average.
Personality: Lexie is a curious, adventurous, if quiet individual. She likes nature and outdoorsy activities, and while she is bothered by overly noisome people and environments, she isn't a fan of eerie silence either. She tends to avoid those who are too boisterous, but may be drawn into the excitement if a common point of interest exists. She does enjoy company, but being somewhat reserved, she takes a while to approach and get to know strangers. She prefers following to leading, though she's quite organized and responsible. As an introvert, she needs a regular daily time-block spent in solitude to recharge her batteries. Despite all appearances, Lexie can get quite fierce when the need arises, for example if she's insulted and becomes defensive; nor is she afraid to tangle in a tussle, though it's not her preferred manner of settling things.
Past Life History: In her past human life, she was a scholarship college student and an aspiring athlete. She'd enjoyed moving around since she was a child, and being encouraged by her parents, advanced easily - though there were always those better than her, of course. Her life had been a fairly average one, despite often being busy with her extracurriculars. However, for several months before her accidental death, she had been stuck in a rut. Perhaps her regrets, frustrations, and unfulfilled ambitions were what led to her reincarnating.
Skill: Maneuverability. Due to her limber, strong body, and having inherited some of her past life's skill, Lexie can easily perform acrobatic and athletic feats. Mainly, she excels at contorting her body into various positions and holding them, or performing various gymnastic acts. She also has a slight advantage when traversing terrain (such as hiking, climbing, swimming, or running outdoors).
But what if whatever they put in the forest water the makes all the male goblins gay? Then I have nothing! :P
Haha. Jokes aside, though, I'll just change the power to avoid the potential issues altogether. If that's ok.
Prob going back to try to to think of another power for the same background. Maybe use the cosplay for a disguise power, or a power mimicry skill, etc. XD
(Anywho, on the last few short minutes of break. Will do edits and changes stuff after I get home a few hours from now.)
Disguise or mimicry would be much better honestly charm is so hard to quantify in words
Alright! So basically I switched out the charm thing for a "copy abilities/items" skill with the theme of 'recreation'.
She can make a recreation/copy of items, and also recreate/copy the capabilities (aka: skills/techniques/powers/abilities) of others, as the effect of this skill by just perceiving/seeing them. Her senses and mind record the info and analyze things passively as a mechanical means for her to be able to recreate stuff at all, and basically doing that will never be a problem.
The hard rule is, however, that these 'recreations' both object and capabilities are always inferior to the originals and lose in a straight match of power. Like if you observed the spear-fighting skills of a guy, and then he got better years later, you'd only be able to recreate 'the skills that person had at that point in time' you saw him before and would have to go observe the guy again to be able to be able to recreate his improved skills. Either way if you tried fighting him with a spear and a recreation of his own skills, you'd always lose in straight up match of just his spear skills vs your recreation of his spear skills.
Further, something like a divine blessing given to or inherited by a specific individual can't be recreated. Certain powers like 'can shoot out webs cause they killed enough spiders', techniques that can be learned such as weapon-wielding techniques, skills like sewing, etc, can be recreated though.
Likewise and more so limiting this power is also the wielder's state of evolution, or the strength of their soul, so the stronger the wielder becomes through evolution the more powerful the objects and capabilities they can actually recreate.
As a base goblin, these objects and capabilities only last for five minutes at most (aka just five minutes outright every time and then suddenly disappear) when recreated. On the other hand, this skill can always be used to recreate stuff over and over so you can spam copies since they are already naturally inferior but good-quality copies. :P
Finally, as an aside, in the specific case of 'recreated objects' there is another catch. If you 'overload' them with magical energy, then they can very very briefly match the power of the original item they were based after. Very, very, briefly. As a result, however, they are outright and immediately destroyed in the aftermath of using them in such a manner.
***(Sorry for this being so long and detailed, but I felt it'd be good to just tack on proper limitations to balance it...all whilst leaving it rather useable in its own ways in the short and long terms :D)
If this idea doesn't work then just tell me, or perhaps help me with suggestions for skills perhaps? I based this one in particular on her cosplay antics in her prior life, basically. XD**
@demonspade64 he said that we are starting kind of over. The ppl fromthe last rp start as hobgoblins and keep their skills and one legacy item. But other than that everyone is starting at the old church.
Appearance - She has arms as many others do. She is bald, like her siblings. Her eyes are stark red, and her teeth are as sharp as her claws. She wears the same cloth as her brothers and sisters, rags used as a blanket or bed when the nights come. Her facial tattoos used to be the same color as her eyes, but she changed it to bone powder after realizing smearing blood on her face attract nothing but flies and itchiness.
Personality - Krishna is your normal goblin. Her greed is unbounded despite circumstances. She bullies the weak while hearing orders from the strong. Self-preservation is at the max level, which means she usually runs from a fight when it is at a disadvantage. Otherwise, the only noticeable thing that separates her from the rest of the green skin is her attention for flattery. She spends too much time grinding those bones for her daily tattoos.
Past Life History: When he had enough money, he will go to Dubai, he thinks as he watched a Lamborghini whisked away out of sight on a rainy night.
When he had enough money, he will spend more time with his family, he whispered to himself as he watched the last family leaving the restaurant, him cleaning the crumbs of their son's birthday cakes.
When he had enough money, he will enjoy the life he deserved, he whispered to himself before eating a subway sandwich while exiting the subway station, making his way to another job.
And he never had enough money. Or, you could say that he never feels like he had enough money. There are always things that required his salary. The students' loan. His renting. His future house. And he worked without complaining. The hope of richness carrying him over the hill of diarrhea, headache, and exhaustion, results from poor self-care. He was only 26. He still has time. He still has time to craft his resume. Time is on his side. Just not money.
And then he died. Skill: Mineral Sensing: Krishna always feels an instinctive pull toward minerals. The closer she is, the stronger the pull. The only drawback is that she must have a sample of said material in her hand to lock in toward the pull (ie: held a piece of iron to find an iron vein, iron vein size can be varied)
