This is really niche, but I'd love to do something based around Walmart Apocalypse. I ran one and was in one a few years ago and I just love the setting to death.

Zombie RPs always seem so easy but it's hard to make them last

I admittedly don't know how to run them in a sense that keeps tension and the flow of action organic. I used to do successful ones, but I care a lot less about pace and action back then. Maybe its me thinking too hard.

Besides player activity and other things of note, I think zombie RPs struggle because of two main reasons splitting them into various little groups, cliques or communities.

First, you have the zombies themselves. Some people like slow TWD types or fast WWZ-like zombies. Others prefer the TLOU or L4D "infected". Just that splinters the potential playerbase since one might prefer certain kinds. For awhile, and still partly, I used to dislike the concept of fast, sprinter-zombies, preffering only the slow ones or the mutated infected types like in Dying Light or similar media.

Then, you have the tone itself. Are you going to go for a more rugged, survival horror approach, wherein people have to scavenge heavily and zombies are incredibly dangeous? Or are you going to go for a more guns blazing approach, such as what we see in the Zombieland movies? Personally, the thrill of a zombie story for me is more of the former.

Regardless of what you choose in the end, it'll likely affect your player pool/potential applicants, making it more difficult to keep a RP afloat.

If I'm being completely honest, I've been in the mood to just drop all the RPs I'm in and withdraw to pure solo writing.

Hrmm, I'd like to see Alt-history stuff. But very, very, ridiculously stupidly absurdly out-of-this-world borderline insultingly wacky. Like the Command and Conquer's Red Alert series (specifically Red Alert 2) I'd accept more serious things though, as alt-history can be pretty fascinating to explore in serious tone, but I'm a bit overloaded with with how dramatic and dark things can be, exploring consequences and changes in politics...Its all so tiresome. I just want my gigantic tri-pod walkers alongside hovertanks in the 1960s damnit.

Outside of alt-history, generally other things that are actiony, but comedic and not too serious. Really the perfect triad for me honestly, reminds me of the good ole days with friends. Anything lax in general when it comes to overall tone is fun now that I think about it. I'd try to make them myself but I can't break the habit of writing things in a ridiculously dark and dramatic way.

Recently been thinking about my RP mood and i would love to play Star Wars: Saga Edition RPG in the Tabletop section, but the problem is that i REALLY don't want to run it. I mean, i've been playing it for about 7 years on and off, the biggest problem being that i have only actually played in 1 short lived campaign and every other time i have had to run it. I just don't want to DM it anymore...

Honestly? Same. I've been in a few Saga campaigns but they always have a habit of flopping early on, more so than any other system I've tried to run and/or play.

The answer is "yes" but at this second I'm typing up some dialogue samples for video game characters.
And going Spongebob Water meme on an old Mario rp idea.

That's why we usually (at home) play as DM and Player to, the only downside of being a DM and playing a character is that you have no say in the talking aspect or making decisions, but you make up for it with your fighting, plus XP and share of treasure, and your character doesn't get left behind to be stuck on 2nd level while everyone else is 4th and 5th etc...

In my defense, everyone got bored and moved on.

Better than people just going completely dark on you, like my attempt to DM.

@Vatonage Yeah that's never cool. I had a Pathfinder group that ditched me while we were postponing our sessions due to my stepmother's grandfather being put into paliative care.

Hmm, a Sci-fi roleplay with a splash of romance mixed with danger and adventure and a dash of good, story-driven drama.

Hmm? I am doing a King and Queen type of roleplay and as such I am doing one with my greatest friend here. Plus it is my birthday today so I am feeling very joyful but at the same time saddened because I miss my mother who would normally celebrate it with me but is watching over me from the glorious Heaven above.
