Name: Surani Meliane
Race: Breton/Vampire
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Appearance: Surani stands at an average height for a Breton her age. She has rich brown hair, and blue eyes. Unlike most mages, she doesn't wear robes for the simple fact she doesn't like them. She finds them to be too restrictive, and not very comfortable for movement. She has very pale skin, even before she was a vampire she had a pale complexion. The armor she wears, is more or less a modified set of leather armor under a hooded cloak to help her keep warm and try to keep her skin from direct sunlight. She normally wears the hood, except for on cloudy days.
Personality: If anyone can tell you anything about Surani just from spending a few moments with her, is that she's incredibly intelligent. She's a natural at understanding magic, how it works, and how one should be able to apply it in practical use. Surani is incredibly inquisitive and likes learning about anything, which has on more than one occasion has landed her in a heap of trouble. Magic and curiosity can be a bit of a bad combination, especially when you're tampering with dark magic, which she has done on more than one occasion - namely necromancy. That said, she's not one to mess around when she realizes that somethings gone horribly wrong, and won't hesitate to admit she screwed up and try to fix her mistakes...which she has had to do on multiple occasions. Also, she hates robes. They're annoying, and mages would do good to man up and don some light armor.
She's friendly to most, and takes great interest in her travel companions whenever she has them, though she knows when someone would rather be left alone. That doesn't stop her from trying to get to know someone, however. She doesn't mind crowds of people, in fact she enjoys them and doesn't like being alone that often. Travelling alone and without a friend or companion to her, is a huge waste and makes her uneasy.
One must also note, however, that she herself, is a vampire. While she doesn't mind being one, in fact she deems it a great opportunity, she hasn't been one for long, barely even a year. It's a touchy subject for her obviously, and hiding it is her number one priority.
Background: Surani is extremely well traveled, and has seen quite a lot of Tamriel.
Surani was born in Wayrest. Her mother, was an adventurer, and her father a successful merchant who made a profit selling and making enchanted weapons and armors. She didn't know much about her mother, as she didn't come home that often. In fact, she would stay gone for months at a time, only to return for a few days before setting off again. She didn't hold this against her, in fact, she looked up to her mom and thought she was the best thing in the world and wanted to be just like her whenever she was old enough to adventure out on her own. However, one day her mother left without a word, simply leaving a letter addressed to her and her father. It said that she had finally decided to do what she wanted to. Explore every nook and cranny of Tamriel she could find.
If anything, this was Surani's own motivation for learning magic and how to handle a sword, though her talent in the latter leaves much to be desired. At the age of ten, she began to study Conjuration and Destruction magic, quickly grasping the concepts, especially for someone her age and she was considered a prodigy. Eventually, she was the best mage in the whole city and at the age of 16, she told her father she was leaving and that there was nothing he could do to stop her. So, she left, eventually making her way into Hammerfell.
Here, she was beset upon by a bunch of bandits. Though her skill in magic was good, she lacked any sort of means of physical defense. Luckily for her, a redguard adventurer happened to be nearby. While he didn't particularly take apprentices, he taught her the basics of sword play, and they traveled together, for a time. Until one day he decided he had taught her enough to protect herself, and left.
After travelling in Hammerfell for a time, eventually at the age of 18, found her way into Cyrodiil. Here, she learned that mages didn't have to rely solely on robes for protection. An older spellsword took her under his wing after her robes had been destroyed by a pack of wolves. He taught refined her swordplay more, and taught her the basics of Illusion. Unfortunately, before he could teach her more, he died of old age, leaving her a set of enchanted uniquely crafted leather armor. She stayed in Cyrodiil for two years, honing her skills and becoming quite well known for being a skilled adventurer. At the age of 20, though, she decided to leave and head for Black Marsh.
She finally reached the Argonian homeland at the age of 21. There, she learned two things. The basics of necromancy, and Alchemy. Both from a rather shady and grumpy Argonian. He took her in when she was completely lost. He saw her talent with magic and convinced her that she could do things, great things, if she wanted too. All she had to do, was to trust him. From there, he taught her the basics of necromancy, and taught her how to use plants and other ingredients to make potions and poisons. She would have stayed here learning from him much longer, had fate deemed it worthy. Unfortunately, she slipped up in controlling a few undead, They killed the Argonian who taught her, and almost got her too. If she hadn't lucked out and came across a small settlement that had some skilled hunters, she'd likely be dead. They dispatched the undead, and for a time she lived in the village, until they caught onto her practices. Before they could act however, she fled north into Morrowind.
Unfortunately, her time in Morrowind would be anything but a happy time for her. At the age of 23 While making her way towards Skyrim, she stumbled upon a coven of vampires. Though she fought them, eventually she was subdued. Their leader, recognizing her skills offered her a choice. Join them, or be killed. She took the obvious choice, rationalizing that it would be good for her, in the long run. It was, more or less. Her knowledge of necromancy quickly made her the leaders favorite and she further refined her knowledge of the dark art. Despite her being in good standing with the leader, she was never really happy, in fact, the vampires terrified her. So, after staying quiet for some time, she told the undead she had made to attack them, buying her time to escape.
She managed to flee into Skyrim, where she laid low for awhile even with the civil war going on. Soon, she heard of a party of adventurers that wanted to slay dragons. Well, she had never done that before, so why not? It could be very educational....
She also, secretly hopes that one day, she might find her mother in her travels. Chances of that happening aren't likely, however.
Skills While she does know the basics of sword play, she is not very good at it, and relies on her magic more often than not. She only uses the sword of she can't kill it at range with magic, a sort of last line of defense.
