_______________________________ANNOUNCEMENT:With the deadline elapsed, I am happy to accept the following players:
@Nemaisare - Bray, Lucas
@earthtogab - Ceeper, Tisha
@Wei Wuxian - Choi, Yuri
@Pirouette - Harison, Jonna
@Junkmail - Hilton, Sierra
@TGM - Howard, Lakisha
@Lawful Newtral - Mustafa, Ariel
@Theyra - Tenorio, Efraim
Additionally to help round out the cast and as a thank you for their hard work both in keeping the IC alive and assisting me in guiding players, bouncing ideas and other miscellaneous behind scenes activities, I'm happy to announce the following players will be adding secondary characters:
@Hound55 - Dahl, Adrianna
@PatientBean - Dupointe, Harlowe
Please begin populating your completed sheets in the character tab, however, please hold off on immediately posting in the IC as I will create a GM post with Miranda and Jess to introduce Team 78 and bring them all up to speed. After that, we'll begin steering the IC towards the annual 'Team Swap', so everyone will be tasked with deciding to either stay in the team they were accepted as part of or volunteer to mix the cast up and create new teams moving forward.
A list appears before my very eyes.
I have seen the future.

I guess I'll have a CS up by tomorrow night.
ANNOUNCEMENT: I owe the vast majority of you an apology. Last week, there was an incident where players had located a draft from my personal workshop thread and brought it to the attention of others in the Team Blackjack specific channel. This led to a dialogue with several players voicing opinions as to how I wrote not only my post but my character. Suffice it to say, I didn't appreciate the violation of privacy or unsolicited input. This was in addition to already having a hard time GMing after adjusting not only to a larger player base but unfortunately I knowingly took on a player that I historically do not get along with. I'm not perfect, far from it. I let emotions get the better of me and thought I could migrate the issues by muting the general chats in the Discord and appearing offline so as to focus on the game solely from a GM perspective. Unfortunately, issues continued to boil up and I thought I would teach these alleged 'troublemakers' a lesson by laying a trap. On May 8th, I posted the following draft to my workshop thread, full well knowing it was public: |
“Hello, Miss Miracle.”
Looking up from between her knees, Autumn looked towards the figure before turning towards her cell camera and smiling widely.
And then the feed went dark.
This post was circulated, as was intended, through the targeted parties, discouraging several players from posting and ultimately leading to a player leaving. While in many ways this was a desired outcome, it was not the way to go about removing a player from the roleplay, nor the way to address when I have issues with players. By going about handling the situation in this manner, I no doubt off-put several players, and while several were in on the joke, many more were not. In particular, I want to extend an apology to @Kuro, @Mao Mao, and @webboysurf whose characters were named in the 'draft' post. |

On May 8th, I posted the following draft to my workshop thread, full well knowing it was public:GM Post:
-Send both Blackjack and Firebird to bed for the night
-GM excerpt? Campus attacked, and several cast members are killed. Likely reduce players down to a more manageable number, and apologize to the rest.The thunderstorm masked any sounds of their arrival as Hyperion and Autumn set upon the Southern Plateau like predators at a buffet.
-The surviving members of Blackjack, Eclipse and Firebird gather for the swap, clearly shaken.Was it all just a dream?
Cass kept hoping he would wake up. His arm was in agony, a bloodied batch of bandages covering the stump where he used to have a hand. Axel's dead eyes haunted him, he hadn't been able to fly away fast enough. Haleigh was the next to fall, her wheelchair proving to be the ultimate liability. Things only got worse after Rory started borrowing powers, and the chaos continued to spiral from there. Between Blackjack and Firebird, there were eight dead students. Who knew how many on Eclipse? Who knew how many more throughout the rest of the school. How were the Collegiate students supposed to defend themselves against Hyperion?
How was this Hyperhuman on Hyperhuman violence bringing about Hyperion's goals? None of this made sense to Cassander.
-Immediately after the swap, the three teams enter the hedge, initially faced with the same scenario.

How was this Hyperhuman on Hyperhuman violence bringing about Hyperion's goals? None of this made sense to Cassander. He had tried to help, tried to protect them. Inside his powers had been turned against him, took his own hand off along with half of Trace's face.
Or at least he had thought it was Trace. It wasn't until the body hit the ground that it was revealed to be Iñigo. The speedster from the other team had been cleaved clear in half by Autumn using powers taken from the now dead Ryan Clarke.
Somehow they were expected to continue with the Homecoming Trials, as though nothing that happened the previous night mattered, as though they hadn't just lost half their classmates. Standing alongside the remaining members of Blackjack, Cassander looked toward Firebird and Eclipse. There should have been thirty-six students including himself here today.
Instead, he counted only nineteen left.

That is another current goal. To realize why she even kept it hidden in the first place. At first it was fun, and it meant that she could use her ability without consequences. She realizes how lucky she had it, that her ability was sublte enough that it went undetected for so long. Then again, she knows she really only used it for fun. Why take that fun away? A broader goal is to become a field agent of H.I.T. She doesn't mind deskwork, but she much prefers to apply herself to a more active role. They could barely afford their rent, and yet they lived a happy life in poverty with their newborn. Elodie's father soon published a successful novel, enough to move the family into a two bedroom apartment with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline. Elle spent most of her childhood here. After school she would read, and occasionally find herself staring out of the window at the bridge and city beyond. Elle's hyperhuman ability did not present itself until she entered puberty. At first she didn't understand it, and yet she found herself easily getting what she wanted. She began to suspect as she entered highschool, and soon began experimenting with her ability. She poured herself into research and quietly mastered it on her own. She made sure not to get caught, either. Her life continued on in ease, and soon she graduated from high school. She moved across the Brooklyn Bridge and began to attend a small college. While she remained studious, she began to live a fuller life than before. It wasn't until her mother passed during her second year that she became reckless with her ability. She began to use it at bars, to get older gentlemen to buy her drinks. It worked for a while, until she unknowingly tried to influence an Agent of H.I.T. and realized that her ability did not work on everyone. She was busted, and had to go through the process of getting registered as a hyperhuman. Elle thought of it as a crime to her independence. The agent that busted her explained that he was glad for her. Before she could get offended, he explained that if she'd gone unnoticed by H.I.T. she could have had a worse fate. Elle began to meet with this agent, who decided that she was his responsibility now. He began to open her eyes to the dangers that hyperhumans face every day, and also to the dangers that they pose to the public themselves. Soon, Elle began to pay more attention to hyperhuman news. She realized that many hyperhumans are targeted every single day in the city, and even more cause destruction that the very agent she learned to know has to face. It inspired her to refocus her studies. She began lessons that taught her more than basic self defense. She was leading herself to becoming an agent of H.I.T. before she could even realize it. She turned twenty-one the summer before she decided to enroll in PRCU. Although she hadn't committed to PRCU yet, the agent that kept tabs on her suggested she join the force. Elle scoffed, and explained to him that she just wanted to keep her life as normal as possible. She wanted to become a writer, like her father. Maybe teach on the side. To become an agent that dealt with Hyperhumans every day did not seem pleasant. So Elle refused the agent's suggestion, and pushed the idea to the back of her mind. Still, it began to crawl its way to the surface as Elle began to hear more and more tragic news within the city she was so in love with. A month before the fall semester at PRCU it all fell into place. Elle found herself caught in the middle of a hyperhuman dispute with a crowd of angry protesters. The protesters, of course, being anti-hyperhuman extremists. At first she attempted to flee, afraid of what the protesters might do to any other hyperhuman in the area out of their own fear and also afraid of what destruction the enraged hyperhuman may do as well. When she realized there was no way out, caught in the middle of the battle between species, she realized that her only chance of escaping unharmed was to act. She sent a message to the agent she'd grown to trust, found a spot right in the middle of the chaos, and summoned all of the courage she had. She hadn't used her ability in months, well, not to an extreme extent. She called upon her pheromones and sent them spreading throughout the crowd of the angriest ones. The hyperhuman, now preparing to wipe out as many protestors as possible, stood right at the center of that group. By the time the agent had arrived, H.I.T. right behind him, Elle had managed to diffuse the most violent bits of the fight. Instead of disciplinary measures, Elle found herself being offered a position at PRCU. Elle might have been exhausted from her first encounter with hyperhuman violence, but it also left her feeling accomplished. Perhaps she could do with a little less normal in her life, and follow in the footsteps of the agent that introduced her to it in the first place. ▅ A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S, & W E A K N E S S E S ▅ A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S, & W E A K N E S S E S ▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅ H Y P E R H U M A N A B I L I T Y || P H E R O M O N E M A N I P U L A T I O N __PRIMARY CLASSIFICATION ||Exoteric __SECONDARY CLASSIFICATION ||Somatic Elle is a Hyperhuman capable of controlling her own and others pheromones. Humans can already secrete and receive signals from pheromones on their own, but pheromones are such a subtle and most times undetected or misinterpreted signal sent between species. Elle is able to cross that line. She has a heightened perception of her own pheromones, and also the pheromones of others. She can affect others pheromones because her own are capable of overwhelming those of her affected target, thus inducing many different behaviors. It's possible to induce sleep, attraction, a calm, anxious, focused, or confident state of mind, and could also place a subject into a state of high suggestibility. L I M I T A T I O N S || While it may seem that Elle is capable of heavily influencing others through pheromones, it is not as strong as mind control. She can only suggest that an individual act how she desires. If they have a strong will and emotional understanding they can choose a different response. Elle is able to secrete her pheromones to cover a fifty foot radius and can affect up to fifteen people at once. She can hold this amount of distance or this amount of subjects for over twenty minutes, with the amount of time affected increasing with less distance and less subjects to influence. For example, if she wanted to affect one subject within a foot of distance she could affect them for almost an hour. W E A K N E S S E S || Pheromones are detected through the olfactory system. This means that if a subject has a muted or blocked sense of smell or taste, they are unable to be influenced by Elle's pheromones. If her own olfactory system has been tampered with she can also experience difficulty in detecting and manipulating her own pheromones. The use of Elle's ability can leave her exhausted, and she requires higher amounts of sleep if she plans to use her ability to it's fullest. Elle can also get lost in her own influence and sometimes act just as strange as those she is influencing. She has to be on top of her own emotions to keep a level head. ________________________________________________________________________________________ |

She can affect others pheromones because her own are capable of overwhelming those of her affected target, thus inducing many different behaviors. It's possible to induce sleep, attraction, a calm, anxious, focused, or confident state of mind, and could also place a subject into a state of high suggestibility.
L I M I T A T I O N S ||While it may seem that Elle is capable of heavily influencing others through pheromones, it is not as strong as mind control.
W E A K N E S S E S ||Pheromones are detected through the olfactory system.

Elle responded a little too quickly. When the agent didn't respond fast enough for Elle's liking, she gave a sheepish smile and continued. "Y'know, the city. I guess that if something was to wake me it would have to be something loud."
"A car crashed into the bodega below my place once. That got me out of bed."

If they look like the usual stranger back home, I'd try to move on from the situation without getting into an altercation. If they were obviously in need, that's a different story. I'd calm them, get them off of the street, get them water or a drink if they needed it. Just give them a safe space until they're comfortable enough to tell me what happened."
"What if their attacker was right behind them?" The interviewer asked, giving Elle a blank stare.
"I have enough sense to run. If running is not an option, I understand how to disarm an opponent. I'd at least give the stranger time to escape, and then look for my own." Elle cleared her throat softly at that and shifted in her seat.

In an immediate threat to the building I'm in, I would help with evacuation or try to calm anyone in distress. I'd hope that security would get to the building in time that I wouldn't have to deal with the intruder."
ANNOUNCEMENT: Regarding secondary characters, if anyone who doesn't currently have one would like to put forth a sheet, I'd love to bring in some new characters after those already in the RP are sorted into their school houses. For these characters, they would be an existing PRCU student who has decided to transfer into the H.E.A.T. program and you'll be able to fill any available team spots post-Team Swap, including those empty on Team 18 - Eclipse. Additionally, if you wanted to play a graduate, I'm open to taking on player characters to fill the roles left vacant by Tad's abduction and Ryan's betrayal. If anyone has any questions about the character concepts available for the secondaries, don't hesitate to ask. |
