Spurred on from thinking over what I'd like to see from the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series (as unlikely as it is to happen), that being an entry where the player assumes the role of guildmaster, adding an entire phase of the game involving at least rudimentary guild (and maybe even town) management systems, I believe the idea can be translated over to an RP to some extent.
The GM or another very committed player will likely have to assume the role of guildmaster, but otherwise it opens the floor to a certain degree of collaborative world-building. Many if not all player characters are in a position to form teams and dungeon-run, but everyone can claim whatever occupation/position within the community they want, operating either as part of the guild or the town.
I'd hope players can have that extra layer of investment through contributing to this in-game community. Couple this with an engaging story that ties it all together, and I think you'll have a PMD RP that a lot of players can get behind.
