April Flynn

Location: Monster Mash - Cafeteria
Skills: N/A
Costume: Perfuma from She-Ra

"Oh my gods oh my gods oh my GODS!!!" April screamed, abandoning the remnants of her cupcake as she jumped up and down. They'd qualified for the Contest of Champions!! She wasn't thinking in that moment about how she'd have to maybe go up against Danni and Dorian in the tournament, no, all she was thinking about was how this was her year - that finally, she'd get the chance to compete and be scouted by major superhero teams and maybe even get her own line of makeup products that gave proceeds to saving the ocean. She was going to be famous, people were going to know Cascade - they were going to know April Flynn. And her friends, they were going to be famous too! And her girlfriends! They were all going and it was going to be fantastic!

Her excitement only amplified when the Savior results came out - SHE'D WON! And her girlfriends, too! Her heart was beating so quickly she could hardly feel it, the beats blurring together. She couldn't breathe either, an incoherent squeal her only response to when Leah asked what they'd won - and then people were congratulating her, Mads and Danni, and then Sabine was taking her and Leah by the hands and taking them to the front.

Coulson crowned the three of them - the crowns must've been magic or something, as they resized and restyled themselves immediately. April's crown transformed to be made out of flowers, perfectly matching her Perfuma cosplay. Sabine's similarly shifted into an upgraded, elevated version of She-Ra's crown. And then Leah's became red and spiky, perfect for Scorpia. It didn't even break when it touched her - definitely magic.

Percy Novikov

Location: Monster Mash - Cafeteria
Skills: Omnilingualism
Costume: the Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who

Percy's eyes widened, not because of Dorian detailing his torment at the hand of Kylo Ren, but because of the dinosaur he had. He blinked twice, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. Their world was full of strange things - it was populated with superheroes after all - but a dinosaur... He hadn't been expecting to see one tonight, and certainly not one so small and tiny. At least it couldn't breathe fire. Danni's dragon was already a liability. "Is he housebroken?" Percy asked.

He didn't want a tiny dinosaur peeing on his things if he came over.

But before Percy could get an answer, the announcements happened - and they'd qualified. Freshmen never qualified for the Contest of Champions, not since the Young Avengers team formed. He had wanted it, yes, but he hadn't expected it. The next thing he knew, Dorian had grabbed him and hoisted him up into the air, spinning him as Percy clung for dear life. His head was spinning by the time Dorian put him down, and he leaned into his boyfriend for stability. "May I attack the other teachers now?" Percy then asked with a smirk.

There was still no sign of Cassie Lang - traumatized, crying students continued to funnel out of the maze/haunted house, mumbling about how they'd faced horrific, demonized versions of themselves within. Lady Nimue must've been around there somewhere, so they could always go chat to her and see if she could help them get Cassie out... or they could make their own plans. Vicky wouldn't be able to hack into Cassie's phone, not for lack of trying - it was like Cassie's phone didn't exist. Maybe it was powered off. Maybe it was on another plane of reality. It was hard to say.

"That's it, I'm going in," America snapped, narrowing her eyes. She cracked her knuckles together, before throwing a punch into the air, and a star shaped portal appeared in front of her. Vicky and Diana wouldn't get a good glimpse of what was on the other end - if America had managed to open a portal to Cassie's exact location or not - but America and Kate jumped through without a thought.

Zelda Flynn

Location: Cafeteria
Skills: N/A
Costume: Rogue

Zelda had eventually gotten caught by her own doppelganger, and once the exit opened up she swiftly left it, though she did get a bit lost heading back to where the others were since quite a few people had been hurrying out of the haunted house to get out as quickly as possible. She had ended up sneaking past the group. Not too difficult for her to do since she tended to naturally do that where she tried to blend into the crowd as much as possible. So she eventually saw the others from her group, along with the addition of Percy and looked to be Dorian.

"What's going on?" she asked Diana, walking up behind her, clearly not from the exit of the maze, before doing a quick count of who was there, noticing that Cassie wasn't around. Something was up as she saw America and Kate jump straight into a portal and jumped through it. Zelda wasn't sure what was really going on with that, but it seemed people were definitely a bit concerned about it. Things were definitely not making too much sense, but if something had happened in the maze shouldn't they tell someone so others didn't go into it anymore?

Zarina Raynordattir

Location: Cafeteria
Skills: N/A
Costume: Viking

"I've actually never been to Asgard... Or well, the real Asgard, I meant somewhere else, technically anyway, it's really weird honestly," she said with a shrug towards Mary Sue without so much as another thought. "And school isn't exactly something I've been to, so this whole sort of environment is new to me. Where I'm from, there wasn't really a school but my mom taught me some things at least. Mainly robotics cause that's always fun. Guess you can call that my main hobby. Mr. Eyeball though was a little sad that I didn't let him tag along to this thing but eh, didn't exactly fit with the costume I've got so he's back in my dorm room. Still need to figure out how to give Mr. Jaws the ability to shoot lasers from it's eyes... Cause that would be cool. And useful in a fight. Oh well, work in progress anyway."

Her attention shifted now towards the announcement that Coulson made with regards to qualifying for the Contest of Champions. That was awesome. Even though she very much didn't agree with there being one leader or anything, but eh. If Vicky did something stupid because she thought everything was more like a military operation then something else, she'd basically just ignore her. Not like she could do anything against her anyway, not when Zari could shut her off with the snap of her fingers. "Cool, we're all in the contest, so that's cool. Gonna be fun even when someone on my team is being dumb about things and trying to be a dictator or something at times. Got mad at me for choosing a different strategic choice then her, and my choice ended up working out better then her trying to run things like we were in the military or something. Really dumb honestly, then again if she annoys me again gonna make it so that suit of her's doesn't actually work. But eh, who knows, maybe things will fully work out in the contest," as she made her last statement she went a bit more chipper and was looking at the haunted house. Before seemingly going back on a random tangent again, changing the subject almost instantly as she looked at the place, "I wonder what's in the haunted house. And oooooh a horror movie night? That sounds like fun! I've only watched a few not a whole lot and that's mainly because of my mom. We totally should do it!"

Andy smiled listening to Zari. She knew exactly who Zari was complaining about. "Thank goodness we don't have anyone like that on our team. We're all nice to each other." She was glad her team was who it was. Even if April was high key way more invested in it than Andy would ever be.

"Oh! We will definitely do a horror movie night. I'll have to invite Dorian he's super into them too." She smiled. She watched that there were more people coming out of the haunted house looking fully traumatized at this point. They had finally reached the front of the line. She didn't mind being scared, but this seemed to be causing actual trauma. She wondered what the heck could be in a haunted house to do that.

"We'll talk about a horror movie night after the haunted house. If you can manage it, then we'll do a movie." She didn't think any movie, especially since she liked movies that were objectively bad, would be worse than whatever was causing full breakdowns to be happening to everyone that was coming out.

Diana Novikova

Location: Avenger's Academy, Stark Hall, Cafeteria
Costume: Annabeth Chase
Skills: N/A

Diana was glad that her brother was alright as she looked over at him. "I'll see you later alright?" She said towards him as her attention turned to Zelda as she managed to come out from the haunted house. "Cassie Lang entered the haunted house shortly before me and she hasn't come out yet like the others have." Diana answered her it seemed that Vicky was hesitating on going in or something to try and save her sister. If Percy was stuck in there she would have immediately gone in and try to save him if she could, Cassie was a friend anyway she turned to Vicky. "See if you can get Madalyne she's good with magic and stuff." Diana suggested to Vicky, the haunted house was clearly enchanted and she knew that Mads was a magic user.

"I'll join you guys." Diana said as America made one of her portals she wasn't sure what was actually on the other side or if she would end up pumping into another one of her evil counterparts while she was inside the haunted house again. Diana quickly stepped through the portal itself and landed on a brick road near some woods, and noticed a castle in the distance she wasn't sure where she was now or if she was inside the haunted house or not.

Madalyne smiled as she watched Leah, Sabine and April all headed up to the stage to get themselves crowned when Danni decided to practically pounce on her and hug her tightly. She didn't mind getting hugs but Danni was hugging her way to tightly as she looked at him. "Your crushing me Danni.." Madalyne said when he let go of her she took in a deep breath as she rubbed her arm slightly and looked at him as she thought for a moment. Madalyne wasn't sure if the teachers would even allow that at all really, she was happy for her friends especially for April.

"We could do something special for them lets see what they want to do later." Madalyne said to Danni as she took a few of the small cupcakes and took a bite out of them, they were really good as she looked at Danni. "It does sound like a fun idea though." Madalyne said giving Danni a friendly smile.

Oh god oh fuck

She flinches when the crown was laid upon her hair- An instinctual response she learned from having hair that could saw through vibranium with a rough emotion, and human flesh with a light slap. But alas, the crown was intact, and Leah felt it warp and take a different shape when it rested there on her head. April's crown became all flowery and Sabine's got all gold and glitter. Probably something from this goofy ass tv show they loved much. This was nice, honestly. Being clapped for by the whole damn school, who now clearly could tell the three of them were dating if they didn't know by now... Or if Sabine somehow resisted the urge to chatter about it on her apps. Apps that Leah never touched for several reasons. Leah looked over at April, who was practically going supernova over there, and couldn't help but smile.

"Damn, these things are magic or something, I'm guessing? Cool..." What the hell was she supposed to do right now? Smile and wave like a politician? Kiss the girls? Hope to god that they didn't start taking pictures of the three of them and plastering them all over the internet? Well, they'd do that anyway. "I guess we're pretty cool, huh? So... Do we get to keep the magic shapeshifting crowns?"

Sabine Bassard

Location: Cafeteria
Costume: She-Ra
Skills: N/A

Sabine was riding the high of not only moving forward in the Contest, but to have won the title by student vote. She had to admit she felt a bit chilled at April winning 1st. Sabine chastised herself mentally for it. She should be happy her girlfriend won. But she had to admit, April didn't seem like the type the whole school noticed, let alone vote for. Perhaps there were hidden depths to April.

Leah seemed excited, if shocked. Soon they were crowned, with the crowns fitting their aesthetic and shaping to fit them perfectly. Sabine bounced on her heels, still holding each of her girlfriend's hands. "I doubt they'd want them back, but even if they do we can sneak them out. No way I am giving up this crown."

She looked out into the audience to see if she could catch either her teammates' attention, but they all seemed preoccupied with something or someone or she couldn't spot them.

"Well, it seems we are all moving forward in the contest also. How do you both feel about that?" She had to admit she didn't relish the thought of fighting her girlfriends, but she also knew this contest would set her up nicely once she graduated. She wanted them to excel also, but did that mean she took a step back to allow them to shine? Would they even want that for her?

High school was hard...

In hindsight, Vicky should have expected that. If her hardware was failing just approaching the damn place, there was no reason to think that Cassie's phone or any other technology would work on the inside. It left her steaming, feeling completely helpless and once more utterly useless. She could already imagine what others thought of her dallying around rather than leading the charge, but the cold logic was that her going in was pretty much guaranteeing one funeral in the family. At least Cassandra's teammates seemed to have the situation handled. She would stay and try to come up with some other course of action, just in case those two were also not returning for a while.

Diana's suggestion shook Vicky out of her thoughts. "Right." she managed to affirm before Diana too went through. Of course, she knew who Madalyne was, although they pretty much never spoke to each other. Would she be willing to help her? There was also the other option. Madalyne might be able to help. But Lady Nimue would certainly know how. The question was, would she? In the end, the decision was simple: Madalyne was visible - Albeit being crushed by Danni - and the teacher was nowhere to be found.

Making her way over, she tried to get the witch's attention: "Good evening. Sorry to be a bother, miss Crane, but could I have a moment of your time? My sister seems to be in a spot of magical bother and in need of aid and I am a bit out of my depth." she said, keeping polite but with worry creeping into her tone.

Dorian Gray

Dorian wrapped his arm around Percy as he leaned into him. Placing a kiss atop his head before giving him a squeeze. ”No you can't go and burn ot'er teachers. You don't even ‘ave fire powers!” He said with a chuckle as the giddiness of excitement still bubbled within him. ”But if you want to work off some of t'at steam…I'm sure we can find a way.” Dorian said with a bit of a smirk and raised eyebrow. His gaze dropping down to see Percy's eyes then lower to recall his new pet. ”Oh! Uh, no idea if it's ‘ousebroken buuuut I'm sure ‘e is. Dad probably taught it before sendin’ it ‘ere.”

Whether or not that was true he jad no idea. Were Raptors a litterbox type of pet or a take for a walk kind of pet? Either way Dorian didn't want to this of picking up prehistoric poop. (Was it still prehistoric if the poop was in the present making?) He shook his head free of those thoughts as he picked up the raptor with one arm and laced his hand into Percy's once more. ”C'mon we neeeeeed to find Danni! We ‘ave to celebrate! Party! Drink! ‘Ug! Dance! We made it!!!” Dorian yelled over the commotion of the Dance as he dragged Percy with him at high speeds towards Danni. For a moment, as he was being pulled, Percy could see Dorians toned muscles in his arms before they went lax again as they reached their destination. ”Chère did you ‘ear t'at?! We made it!!!!”

Mary Sue Sullivan

Location: Cafeteria
Skills: N/A
Costume: Avenger's Academy Student.

Mary Sue kept her satisfaction that dysfunction had infected Zari's team to herself, she knew that eventually, it could come down to the two of them against on another, and as much as she wanted friends, it was tempting to make sure she'd have the advantage. Her head was caught on a few potential vectors of conversation actually, and she didn't quite know what to do. One one hand, people generally like being agreed with, and reinforcing Zari's instinct to self sabotage rather than try to talk things through would probably make them better friends, but it also felt like encouraging that was actively bad. The tension in this choice effectively made it so Mary Sue was stuck, unable to come up with a response that didn't seem in some way fundamentally incorrect. There was visible discomfort on her face, but she finally landed on expressing sympathy.

"I'm sorry you're going through that with your team." She said, which was true, Mary Sue wanted to win, but she wasn't sociopathic. Turning her attention to the topic of the haunted house, Mary Sue would by lying if she didn't admit she had some amount of fear at the topic of going in there, especially after watching people come out of it. Maybe the thought process was that, if they were supposed to be super heroes, then the things that scared them needed to be serious? She guessed that was true, but it was still a lot to take in. "Yeah, if you have horror movies scarier than whatever's in there, I'm pretty sure they're not allowed here." She said, trying to make light of the thing they were planning on walking into.

“OMG VICKI!” Danni squealed, ignoring Mads's incredibly unenthusiastic response to his fantastic party plan. Who wouldn't want to watch She-Ra in 3D in the training room with all their besties? “Speakin’ of magic, I was just talkin’ ‘bout you! Do you t'ink it'd be possible ta like, theaterize a trainin’ room so we could do a big ole She-Ra viewin’? I was literally just talkin’ about you! ‘ave you watched She-Ra? Mads ‘ere ‘asn't and neit'er ‘as Leah, so we wanna do a big t'in’ viewin’ and since she's one of t'e winners, I'd figure we really ramp t'is shit up! Drinks, drinks, food, music for t'e gossip interludes, all t'at stuff! It'll be so much fun! We can invite everyone!” Danni bubbled, bouncing at the idea, focused on his little day dream.

Of course, Dee was enough to snap him out of it. He practically felt when he was making his way over and Danni threw his arms around him and shook him excitedly. “Deeeeeeee!!! We did It! Not t'at I was surprised. Spicy’s presentation was a touch off but ‘is skill def made up for it, but we looked so ‘ot out t’ere t’at t’e judges ‘ad ta let us t’rough! We're just t'at good!” Dannie exclaimed, giving Percy a thumbs up. “Now, we're just talkin’ about t’e after party ‘cause Princess, Beanie, and Leah won savior and we're gunna do She-Re but like, theater style you know? It's gunna be great! Do ya t'ink t'ey'll let us have sparklers or will we need ta smuggle t'em in? T'ey let Poisson-Pas blow us up so we gotta be good wit’ fireworks in t'em, right?”

@Nallore: "Where are we, America?" Kate asked, looking around suspiciously. It didn't look anything like the Maze/House, if anything, it was like a scene from a storybook. Their clothing and hairstyles had been magically changed too to match, like they were from D&D - Kate looked like a rogue, America like a cleric, and Diana like a ranger. "It's like we're in Baldur's Gate 10 or something," Kate added.

America nodded. "I think... we're in Otherworld," she frowned. "I guess that makes sense, Nimue's magic is from here - this place, it's where all those King Arthur stories are from, where they really happened."

"Love that for us," Kate sighed. "C'mon, if Cassie's here, she can't have gotten far."

And so they set off down the brick road in the direction of the castle.

April Flynn

Location: Monster Mash - Cafeteria
Skills: N/A
Costume: Perfuma from She-Ra

The moment ended, and April left the stage with her girlfriends. "Yes, we get to keep them!" she squealed. "Some people have, like, entire display cases and stuff dedicated to crowns they win - it's like in Dance Moms, if you've ever seen that, where Maddie has like a GAJILLION crowns and has to find places to put them all?" There was no way she was going to give up her magic flower crown either. She was already mentally debating where to put it in her dorm room - it was basically a hoop, maybe she could loop it around her bed post, letting her look at it and have it double as decor?

But then the conversation changed to the Contest of Champions, and April's thoughts tore away from the award. She was super excited that she'd finally qualified for the Contest, even if... even if it wasn't quite right. She did have her best friend on her team, yes, but her brothers were on a team together without her. And her girlfriends were also on other teams - everyone she cared about so deeply had qualified, they'd all have to fight each other...

If she were being honest though, she knew that they didn't stand a chance against the Young Avengers - that none of them would win.

"I'm really excited - it'll be so cool to get to compete in the actual contest this year, and it'll be huge for us in terms of exposure and opportunities!" April gushed. "And it'll be good for next year, when we'll not only qualify again but we'll also have the ultimate dream team - where we can all be together in one group!"

Percy Novikov

Location: Monster Mash - Cafeteria
Skills: N/A
Costume: the Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who

"People have been setting people on fire long before anyone had powers," Percy protested. "All you need is a little imagination - and science." The discovery of fire had happened eons ago - most superheroes were a relatively modern phenomena. They hadn't used any special powers or whatnot to burn the witches in the dark ages.

But before Percy could info dump about all the ways he could start a fire without powers, Dorian redirected his thoughts elsewhere. He licked his lips unconsciously, as Dorian spoke about other ways to relieve tension - and then as his boyfriend's eyes went down, Percy blushed furiously. He had always been a little bit, well, prudish - self-contained, not prone to displays of affection. But that was not for lack of desire, for lack of want. He wanted to kiss the daylights out of his boyfriend. He just preferred to do so privately.

All of this was running through his head, as muscular Dorian dragged him through the crowds, the noise from the party at an all time high and causing people to have to shout over each other. They made it to Danni, and Madalyne and a girl Percy wasn't familiar with were both there as well. Percy gave the stranger a curt nod in greeting.

He shot Danni a glare at his comment about his performance, but held his tongue - for Dorian's sake. "I'm sure they will," Percy said dryly, as Danni was going on about whether or not the teachers would allow them fireworks.

Diana looked around she noticed that her costume had suddenly changed into a ranger's outfit, as she looked herself over at her cloak and hood, and leather armor that she was now wearing. "Well this is interesting." Diana said as she looked over at Kate and America, Kate's clothes were now more fitting for a rogue and America's was a cleric. "So is this where Cassie actually is?" Diana asked as she started to follow shortly behind the two of them as she looked around the brick road that led over towards the castle.

This was her first time in a completely different world, Diana had been to other places in the world if she needed to travel with her moms and brother for vacations and whatnot. Her teleportation was pretty good and could cover a good bit of distance to if she chose to teleport further. "So have you two been here before also anything that we should expect?" Diana asked she was mostly curious if either of them had been here before.

Madalyne turned her attention over towards Vicky as she got her attention asking for her magical expertise, she didn't know Vicky all that well really. They didn't have any of the same classes really and she only really saw Vicky around in the halls and that she had some sort of Iron Man like suit. "Sure I can try and help, also Mads or Maddie is fine no need to be all formal and stuff." Madalyne said as she managed to squirm her way out of Danni's death grip, and quickly tried to fix her costume. Madalyne shook her head slightly as she stared at Danni she had seen She-Ra before actually, she then gently flicked Danni on the ear.

"I did see the show actually April and I have been binging it together in our dorm." Madalyne pointed out just as Dorian and Percy had approached she gave Percy a friendly smile and wave. She didn't really interact with him aside from their first day of school. Madalyne then turned her attention towards Vicky. "Anyway you said you needed help for your sister?" Madalyne asked her she was more than willing to try and help out wherever she could. "Lead the way." She said to her she wasn't sure where to actually go anyway.

Oh god oh fuck

”Heh… Nice.” Leah wasn’t sure where she’d hang up her fancy wizard crown… Maybe frame it on the wall with Sabine’s and April’s. She wasn’t used to winning fancy shit like this, so Leah’s “Fancy Shit from High School” collection was effectively nonexistent. Three years in a row, and this was the first big thing she did here that wasn’t a milestone for heroics. The first school dance she had ever been to, when she could’ve gone to the last two. The first Halloween party she had been to, when she never did Halloween before in her life. Leah felt… like a kid. It sounded dumb, and silly, but kids were dumb and silly. And that was okay to most people, but Leah would say she never had the chance to be either of those things growing up. And while that was technically true, she grew up at AA, and not just in the desert back home.

She was always too scared to step out of the walls that she built. Too afraid of being hurt again to enjoy life. Leah was trying to find the courage to climb over the walls a lot more lately, and her girlfriends helped. They helped so much, when it came to being just dumb and silly kids every now and then. They needed all the time they could spend, since they’d all have to fight one day. Hopefully, they’d both be prepared for her approach to the contest by then. Leah knew her team definitely wouldn’t be, by they wouldn’t matter at that point. Leah never wanted to fight in the contest, she just did it for the sake of others. If she allowed herself to entertain the idea enough, Leah could imagine that she’d rather spend the years others spend among the Avengers with April and Sabine.

Where else would she go? AA was where everything she ever made for herself was found. Without it…

When everyone started to pay attention to other things, Leah figured the night wouldn’t last much longer. And she had her eyes on that haunted house since they got here, out of curiosity. People had been coming out absolutely demoralized. And she could see Vicky standing around looking nervous for quite a while before hobbling across the floor for Madalyne’s help. Not a good sign if she was fraternizing with wizards.

”You two noticed that people seemed to be coming out of there absolutely wrecked? Not really the reaction I’s think of for a haunted house. Nimue’s running it, so… I think I’m gonna go see what’s in there, and kick the ass of whatever’s messing people up,” She said to her girls, with her usual confidence and badassery.

Leah planted a kiss on both of their foreheads, ”I’ll make sure it’s safe, if you two go in after me.” She was being playful, but honestly, what sort of sadistic shit was Nimue hiding in there? She walked off the edge of the stage landing on both feet, and immediately made her way inside.

It seemed normal, walking inside the haunted house up until the very moment where everything went wrong. There wasn't a defined point where things were normal and when things started looking weird, but Leah found herself in darkness. Haunted houses were supposed to be dark, that much was true, but she couldn't even see past her own hands. It was just bright enough to see herself and a concrete floor, and yet everything was unfalteringly black. Where was the entrance, again? Leah couldn't see it behind her, not even a distant glow indicating a point of reference for how far she had walked. Leah felt that she had walked into a straight line, despite this being a maze. It was unnatural, and Leah should have seen this coming, entering a place that was ran by an otherworldly entity. But she kept walking regardless. All was quiet, up until the moment Leah heard something rumble.

A low, groaning noise like a distant volcano. Like a crumbling mountain. It caught her attention, and so Leah stopped.

"You..." A voice like an ocean.

Leah spun around, quick as a whip, and saw that she was not alone. Somehow, she could see them in this weird void of a world. A figure, standing head and shoulders taller than her, with stony skin that was flecked with bits of brown and bronze. They had more muscle in one arm than Leah did in her entire body, and Teddy was the only one she had ever met that fit could compete with her strength. The stranger was has some sort of armor on, minimal and made of leather and bits of metal. At least, that was what it seemed like, something between a sleeveless vest and riot gear. Strange markings stood out across their skin, wrapping around their arms like geometric snakes. They wore fur-lined boots that went up to their ankles, and somehow completely silenced their movements. They looked like someone from another world entirely, and yet Leah could see a resemblance there. They had hair in a style similar to her own, untouched and long enough to touch the floor. Only their hair was... Jagged. Leah's hair fell down in thick curls, where the stranger's bristled outwards like thorns.

A scowl was etched across their face, marred with weathering from conflict Leah couldn't begin to understand. Two golden eyes looked through Leah like a pane of glass. They spoke, and the world spoke with them.

"You still don't know, do you?"

"What... Who the hell are you? I'm just lost. I'm trying to-"

The stranger shot forward, faster than Leah was prepared for. In the blink of an eye, they were in arm's reach, and Leah felt the wind forced out of her lungs as a fist was planted clean between her ribs. Leah was flung backwards, hurtling into the dirt that she didn't realize was there. White-hot exploded outwards across her chest, something felt like it had been cracked.

In a coughing fit, Leah forced herself upright, looking towards the stranger who was walking towards her. That rumbling noise was all around them, and it only got louder as the distance closed. Leah brought her hand down to the ground, hoping to find something she could use. It felt like concrete, but this was strange. Could she... Leah swung her hand upwards towards her attacker, and sure enough, a spike of concrete shot outwards at an angle, pointed right at them. It was wider than her forearm, and yet it did absolutely nothing. The stranger grabbed the spike with one hand, and punched it with the other. It grew cracks across every square inch of its surface, and crumbled to dust just as soon as it was unleashed.

The sound of flesh hitting stone rang out, and reverberated through the floor so intensely that Leah couldn't help but worry she'd fall again.

"You aren't this weak. You never were. Why you embrace this, then?"

"I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, I'm just trying to find the exit and get out of this damn place."

"And run home, to people who don't trust you?"

Leah didn't have a fucking clue what this person was on about, so she darted forward and swung her meanest haymaker at their jaw. It landed, and the stranger's head was thrown to the side, but they were still standing. Leah got a frontal kick to the stomach for her troubles, and was once again flung backwards. Only this time the stranger didn't let her get up. When Leah tumbled to the floor once again, she heard a sound like a rockslide as her attacker charged. Leah flung herself left, and raised a platform of stone to springboard off of. She left the round just in time for the stranger to swat her out of the air. A hand found itself around her throat, while Leah dangled mid-air.

She could feel her throat closing, in a chokehold.

Through quick thinking, Leah sent her power into the floor and shot up a thin pillar aimed at the stranger's arm, to break the stranglehold. But it shattered when it made contact. The entire thing, down to the floor, burst into rubble. She must have pissed them off, because Leah got a punch to the face that left her reeling in a way she hadn't felt in a long, long time. Something broke, and a warm feeling oozed out across her face. And then, a second punch came, threatening to leave Leah unconscious from the sheet vertigo she felt. The need to breathe was all that kept her away, and that need was growing more difficult to fulfill by the second.

Leah was raised by a man more than twice her size. She was born into fights against people who outmatched her physically. It shouldn't have been this difficult to fight someone who fought like him. But this stranger was more dangerous. That pillar trick broke limbs in other situations, but it barely even phased her opponent now. Her lungs were starting to scream. The stranger's face seemed to contort with disdain. They said something, but Leah's thoughts were too blurred, her head too concussed, for her to hear it. Everything sounded like it was underwater. A sudden flash of sharp pain in her side reminded her of where she was. Her ribs had been broken for sure.

Leah swung her upper body upwards, and locked her knees around their forearm. It was an old trick she used on her old man, back when she was small enough to fit inside a suitcase, to dislocate joints. The size different between her and this maniac was enough that it could work in theory. Her left foot went flat against the stranger's shoulder, and her right foot hooked around their elbow. She twisted, and felt air enter her lungs again, as she fell to the ground. Her injured ribs wailed in protest, and everything started spinning again, but Leah scuttled backwards. The stranger growled as their forearm was now inoperable. Leah reached her feet and slipped into a classic boxing stance, swaying like a tall tree on a spring evening. Her head felt like it was being split open by a rusty axe. But she was not giving up without a fight.

The stranger, clearly not threatened by Leah's display of technique, laughed. They brought their dislocated arm up, and popped it back into place with a sickening slap. Leah, however, demonstrated why an opponent should never be underestimated. Despite two major injures, and a possible concussion, she blitzed the stranger, dropping her left foot, fancy 2-inch heel and all, straight into their abdomen. They were forced back, and managed to make them stumble back. Leah kept up the pressure, and swung an uppercut that caught them off guard.

Left jab to the throat, full-body elbow to the shoulder to compromise balance. They couldn't recover as quickly as their smaller opponent, and stumbled into a position where they had to put all their weight on their left foot. Leah knocked them off of it with a roundhouse kick, aimed high enough that her shoe went clean into one of the stranger's eyes.

They didn't go down without a fight, though. Leah stayed on them, driving a kick into their jaw as they tried to stand. They rolled over onto their face, and Leah swung the heaviest left hook she ever swung in her life, down at the back of their head. This, however, was a mistake.

Blood sprayed across her fingers, and the stranger's hair. An angry yelp of pain escaped Leah's throat as she realized the skin on her knuckles, hand and wrist had just been shredded. Blood dripped onto the floor, smearing across her dress. During that lapse in focus, the stranger drove an elbow into Leah's stomach. She felt weightless for a moment, and then crashed as she realized that she had left the ground.

She felt something spasm, like she was been electrocuted. Everything went numb for a moment. Her lungs weren't taking in air, she tried to breathe but nothing happened for precious seconds. Seconds, which felt like minutes in the heat of combat.

"Look at you. This is what waits for you, if you don't let them go." The stranger walked over to Leah, who was lying in a puddle of blood that slowly grew around her. The ground was slick, and Leah naively thought she cold win this.

Everything rumbled again.

"Everyone you've ever known comes and goes, but you stay. You understand that, don't you?" They planted a foot against Leah's broken ribs, and the weight threatened to suffocate her. Foolishly, Leah grabbed their ankle and tried to snap it, but they only knelt down until all she could see was their hate-filled eyes.

"Even now, you resist everything. You're so strong, and yet so, so weak. One day, you will be all that is left standing, and this is how you will feel."

Leah ignored their nonsense, and tried to slug them with her bloodied fist. But they grabbed it, and her hand released a crunching noise. And then another, and another still. Leah's voice strained against her broken chest and the weight placed upon her, and her hand fell limp.

As if it were a totally normal response to having one's hand crushed, Leah slammed her forehead against theirs. That got a reaction out of the stranger, in the form of them recoiling, and Leah's skin splitting open between her eyes and broken nose. But the stranger once again laughed.

"...You have so much fire inside you, and you cling to others to keep warm. But people come and go like candles in the wind-"

They swung a right hook at Leah's temple, softer than before. They were mocking her.

"And the wind does not move the mountain. Isn't that what you always tell yourself, Mayra?"

Her blood became ice in her veins. Seconds stretched on, and on, until her moment of panic became one of fury.

"Who... the hell are you?" She hissed.

The stranger only smiled. "You'll figure that out yourself, one day..." They raised a hand, and slowly curled it into a fist. The strange shapes covering their arms began to glow a warm, golden color.

"When you're ready."

And it all went black.

Leah's vision became clear again, on the outside of whatever ungodly labyrinth she had stepped into. Looking around with far too much adrenaline in her system, Leah's fist balled and she was immediately ready to continue fighting. It wasn't until she heard the corny music that she noticed that the stranger was gone. She was back at the dance, and it definitely wasn't a dream. Her dress, hand, and face were still smeared with blood, which seemed to be drying out. And of course, the bones in her left hand were fucked now. Leah could feel the pain in it all, but she endured pain enough to tolerate it. Leah looked around, and felt her urge to beat someone out of existence recede.

Enough time had passed since she tried to kill her father that she almost forgot what it was like to feel this small. This weak, and powerless against someone else.

"...Fuck."

Sabine Bassard

Location: Cafeteria
Costume: She-Ra
Skills: Anything she can muster

Sabine was on top of the world. She intended for the remainder of the night to be full of mirth and joy. But such things do not last.

Sabine gazed over at the haunted house as Leah pointed it out. It was true that those leaving looked out of it. Almost drained. Surely it wasn't that scary, was it? Leah decided to go check it out. "God, she's so cute when she charges headfirst into parts unknown." She looked over at April and squeezed her hand. "Let's go see how our big, brave girl is handling it."

Sabine went in after Leah, intending to catch up to her. As soon as she entered the house something felt....off. She couldn't put a finger on why, it was more a gut reaction, but then the walls around her warped. Sabine held on. Was it something she ate? No it had to be the house doing this. She attempted to call Leah's name, but she couldn't get the word out. Sabine closed her eyes.

When she opened them, she was no longer in the haunted house. Instead, she was on what looked to be a stage. She looked around her. Sure enough, she was on a huge stage. There was no audience, but for some reason Sabine could feel tons of eyes on her. What the hell was this? She was still dressed like She-Ra. Was she knocked out and brought here? Surely the school wouldn't allow that to students, even if it was a haunted house.

Sabine perked up when she heard footsteps. Heels on the floor behind her. She turned and saw a woman. Not just any woman though. She recognized the blonde hair. The sword attached to the woman's back. It was like looking in a mirror, but a mirror that aged.

Sabine was face-to-face with herself.

The woman was her but older. She was dressed in a skin-tight leather ensemble. Her hair was tied up in a jagged updo, but the length hit the woman's knee. The woman also had sunglasses on and was chewing what looked like bubblegum. When the woman spoke, her voice was deeper than her own. "Regarde ce que le chat traĂŽnait" she said. Look what the cat dragged in. "Is this some sort of joke?" Sabine asked in response. The woman laughed. "Was I this oblivious in my younger years? Bah, no matter." With a speed Sabine couldn't quite figure out how she mastered, the woman launched forward, punching Sabine across the jaw and kicking her backward. Sabine fell on her back. She rubbed her jaw and could taste blood in her mouth.

"Je suis toi du futur, mon amour. Should have been obvious." Sabine picked herself up. Her from the future? "This is an illusion then. From the haunted house. What are you here to send a message?" Future Sabine laughed again. "Yeah, a message. It's a simple one. I. Am going. To kill you. Full stop." Future Sabine launched herself again, though Sabine was a little more ready for this. Sabine took out her sword and slammed it into the ground, force shield blasting out. It hit Future Sabine and sent her back, but she didn't fall. "Still a little girl with her toys? C'est mignon. You still got a ways to go."

Future Sabine took off her sword. It looked like her own, but it was warped, curved, and somewhat darker. Future Sabine slashed and hit the force field. It went down quickly. Sabine attempted to swing, but she saw Future Sabine gaze at her. Sabine felt something enter her mind. "I could have so much fun in here. Twist it all so you forget everyone you've ever known. Those two girls you are so in love with? Gone. Your father? Done. Your....oh wait...oh you don't know yet."

Sabine shut her eyes and entered her own mind space. She saw Future Sabine. "Get out of my head!" Sabine spoke and sent a wave of energy at her future self, sending the woman flying.

Sabine opened her eyes again and saw Future Sabine fly backward, landing hard. Future Sabine pounded on the ground. "Finally!" She flipped herself upward. "There's that fire. There's the old Sabine. Deep down you know it's there. Festering. You are just too weak to let it out. Poor little Sabine. All the world's a stage and, yet, you aren't the lead. All eyes on you and you fail every time. Food is stronger than you." Sabine ran forward, sword outreached, but Future Sabine caught it with her own sword.

"Imagine what you could do with your powers. No one could tell you no. You could literally manipulate the world's order." Sabine shook her head. "That's weakness. There's no strength in manipulation." Future Sabine chuckled. "Keep telling yourself that. One day you might actually know your full potential." Future Sabine kicked Sabine in the chest, sending her back, but Sabine held firm. "I know how dangerous I can be. It's why I hold myself accountable."

Future Sabine gestured around her. "There's no one here to lie to except yourself. Face it. You have no one but yourself to trust. Everyone is afraid of you. Do you think you have a future with your girlfriends? Your friends? Your team? No one will ever trust you. In the back of their mind, ironically, they will always question you. Is their memory real? Did you alter them to fit your needs? An argument with your girlfriends turned into them begging for forgiveness. Your father and stepmother, your step-siblings, never fully believing you when you tell them something. No superhero would ever let you near them. You're dangerous. The sooner you realize it and forget this stupid belief you can be a hero, the better. But you'll figure that out one day. Possibly soon."

Sabine felt her heart quicken as her own worries and concerns were laid bare before her. She wanted to challenge her future self, but how could she? She knew herself.

Sabine dropped her sword. Future Sabine raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You're giving up? I expected mo.." The thought couldn't be finished as Sabine had ran up and decked her future self, causing Future Sabine to sprawl backward. Sabine stood on top of her. "Let's get one thing straight. You are right. I live with those thoughts every day. But I am better than that. I am better than by doubts and indecision. I am better than my fears and worries. I am better than you!"

Sabine raised her hand to her temple, entering her own mind. She saw her future self in her own memories.

"I don't know if you are actually me from the future or if you are just a figment, but either way, I own you. Let this be a lesson to you and myself. I win. I will always win." Sabine began altering her own memories, erasing the woman before her. Future Sabine began to slowly disappear, a smug grin on her face. Sabine kept the memory of her victory though. Kept it as a reminder. "You are nothing but a memory now. And we both know what I can do to memories." With a final snap, Sabine erased her future self from this plane.

Sabine took a moment to collect herself. She felt her emotions welling up. Soon the room distorted. She felt herself fall forward, but she did not hit the ground. Instead, she fell and found herself right up on her own two feet, back in the haunted house again.

Sabine looked around her, taking in her surroundings. She took a few deep breaths. She felt sore and hurt. Had it been real? Either way, the damage was done.

The damage would always be done.

Andy laughed, Mary Sue probably wasn't wrong from how the people exiting looked. She smiled, held her head up, and walked in. For a moment the room was too dark to see anything, and she took a few steps, her hand out in front of her to keep her from running into a wall. Then she found herself in a well-lit room. A room she knew too well.

Bright fluorescents hummed and rows of bunk beds cast shadows. Unlike its real-world counterpart, one Andy hoped was long gone, the room seemed to go on in every direction. There were no walls—just rows of beds. The room was empty, something she couldn't say she had seen happen very often. For her it had only been a few years, for the world it had been almost twenty, since she had stood in this room. This room was designed to break her. The whole school had been.

Andy had to admit, this was a top-tier horror house. Her friends were gone and she was in a place that she hated more than anywhere else in the whole of the world. She had frozen. Held perfectly still in the fear that crawled through her. However, she had escaped this place once. She had walked away and she was not back there. Instead, she had found herself at a new school far into the future where people like her were treated well. Her fear shattered as she thought of Zari. This was the past and she was stronger than it.

She started walking. Figuring she'd find an exit. When she did, the door did not lead out, but instead into the gym of the Drummonds' studio. On the other side of the square someone was punching a dummy. They did not take notice of Andy, not until the door shut with a slam behind her. Their hands dropped and they turned, not quickly as if startled, no this person had been expecting her.

"You made it." Her own voice said from the other side of the square. Because it was her. "I was starting to think your past had scared you more than your future did now." There was a smirk in her voice. "You ran away from the past, got so far away from it you're legally dead, almost a whole adult is now between you and the people who you killed. Did you really think it'd be all Sixteen Candles and Breakfast Club from here on out?"

Andy didn't say anything, but she did walk closer to the square. It still kept the two apart, it was the space of choices, the space of winning or losing between them.

The other Andy climbed into the square, leaning under a rope and hopping into it with ease and grace. Andy hadn't been in a square in what felt like years but was less than a year. Had she ever entered that easily, that cool and collected? She didn't think so, even now her hands were sweating. Without choosing to, she climbed into the square. She clenched her hands and gloves were on them.

A bell rang. The other Andy moved faster than she could track and punched her square in the face. Andy recoiled, her nose filling with blood.

"You're afraid of what you could become. Too afraid to do anything. You teeter on the edge of slipping into Mother's grasp. But that means you're too afraid to become yourself." Lightening crackled around the other Andy, this time Andy ducked it, and punched back. The world had become the fight. This was where she excelled. Her world hemmed in by ropes on four sides as she punched and kicked. It felt good.

Punches and kicks and lightning were exchanged. It lasted for hours or seconds. Finally, the fight that had waged on between them with no end in sight Andy, gasping for air leaned against the post, she was watching the other Andy as they removed the gloves.

"You've been getting hungry, you know what that means, no muffin will satiate you ever again." Her bare hand wrapped around Andy's neck and she felt her body begin to sag. She could breathe, but that wasn't what was happening. "Don't be weak, weakness will kill you." Teeth sunk into her neck. The world narrowed, her vision started to blur and the edges darkened.

Just as the last of the light vanished from her vision Andy stumbled and landed on her knees and hands. The sound of the dance filled her ears and she knew she was out of the haunted house.

Sweat was pouring down her, the costume well ruined. Andy stood and stepped to the side. She kept her eyes open as much as she wanted to close them and gather her strength. But she dared not. Dared not risk having someone come to her aid and touch her. Because she was hungry.

Well this was definitely not something that she expected to hear. Someone going in but not coming back out again was concerning. And definitely something that the teachers should have potentially prevented if they had allowed the haunted house to be there to begin with. This was a bit strange to her, but everyone started going into the portal that was still open currently to see about trying to find Cassie Lang. Well, the party was a bit lame (in her opinion) and she figured that it might be better to try to help out. So thinking nothing more of it, Zelda stepped through the portal after the other three.

The world definitely was a bit odd to say the least, as her outfit shifted to be reminiscent of a Rogue type sneaky character. A little ways in the distance she could make out the others having already gone a bit ahead, and she raced along until she caught up with them. Giving them a slight wave, before she spoke as she walked along with them, "...So how did Cassie end up here? It doesn't seem like anyone else who went through the haunted house got brought here or anything..." she ended up saying, looking at the three others.

"Eh, I don't really care one way or another. Problem is she doesn't get fully she can't actually hurt me in anyway, as long as she doesn't try to be a dictator or try to get people to do stupid things, then we'll be fine," she ended up responding as they eventually got up to the front of the line for the haunted house. Zari was super excited to see what was in store for them inside, and thinking nothing of it, Zari went straight on in without a care in the world. How bad could it really be?

It was a bit weird, being there, but eventually she saw a figure up ahead of her. Someone else near her, and Zari decided to call out to them, "Hello there!" she said happily, as the figure turned to face her, and what she saw surprised her.

She saw herself. Sort of anyway.

This version of her looked to be almost like a cyborg, her left eye seemed to have been replaced with a robotic one, as well as her left arm seemingly being completely robotic as well. Zari could sense the tech that was there, and there definitely was a lot of it. Almost like it was kind of keeping her alive or something. But the cyborg wasn't the only figure sort of there, next to her was a sort of familiar looking robotic eye. Sort of familiar because Mr. Eyeball no longer looked like his usual self, having gotten a few upgrades or something like that, but it was a bit eerie to think about.

This can't be good.

"Well Mr. Eyeball, looks like we've got some company... We probably should see about doing something about that," the other Zari said with a smirk, before the robot fired off a laser at her, which Zari dodged out of the way of.

"Rude! I've been meaning to give him a laser forever you're just mocking me at this point with that!" Zari complained, before pulling out her sword. She was super glad she had decided to bring her real sword as opposed to taking the fake axe that came with the costume.

The other Zari instantly drew her own sword, before the pair instantly charged at each other, both swinging their swords in almost perfect sort of movements. Clearly this other sort of twisted version of her was able to almost perfectly mimic and predict her own movements. So they were at a bit of a stalemate at first, the other Zari seemed to laugh a bit at Zari herself now. "You are a bit pathetic now aren't you? You call yourself an Asgardian, well where is your strength? You always be weaker then everyone else there. You act like you aren't bothered by anything, but you and I both know that's the thing that bugs you and always will."

"I have accepted that fact! Mostly anyway! If I get it, great, if not then so what? It's not the end of the world if I don't. I just make up for it with being skilled at what I do!" Zari said, managing to knock her back away from her.

"No you haven't. See I have that strength, more strength then you ever can have," she responded as her version of Mr. Eyeball started from the sounds of it, laughing at her.

"Strength isn't everything you know!" as they continued the fight, once more becoming deadlocked again.

"Just give up. You're no warrior, you barely even really are a Valkyrie."

"Wrong!" this time she managed to knock her back, but she was definitely having a harder time with this fight then her counterpart.

"No, you're wrong," she said, before charging again, and the pair were fighting, but the former's superior strength started to show. And eventually, her counterpart managed to disarm her and knock her sword away. Right when she was about to go through with killing her, her counterpart disappeared revealing the exit. Zari quickly grabbed her sword up off the ground, definitely a bit freaked out from the experience.

But she couldn't help but be impressed by the haunted house and thinking that it was amazing! Now that she was out, she definitely thought it was the coolest thing around and definitely the highlight of the dance if you asked her.

Victoria van Dyne & Madalyne Crane

Smiling meekly, Victoria nodded and lead back towards the haunted house, explaining on the way. "Oh, thank you! It seems like the place is bewitched to put every person into a different place, people who went inside were separated. Supposedly everyone is fought by an evil version of themselves. As I mentioned, my sister did not come out, despite the people going in behind her coming out. I trust my sister to hold her own, but... I'd still like to be sure. But there's two big hurdles. One, I have no way of locating her, although her teammates seem to think they know how, hence the portal over yonder. I've got a different problem. I can't stand this kind of magic. It happened to me in Agatha's tent and now again when I approached. I start seeing runes and symbols, and I can feel magic creeping into my very being like it is attacking me. I am not sure whether it is magic in general, or just spatial, dimensional, illusory or whatever magic the two are using to make it seem like timespace is stretching and bending."

She took a deep breath. "Do you have anything in your repertoire that could prevent or shield me form that effect, at least for a limited time?" she pleaded.

"No problem at all 'm happy to help out." Madalyne said as she followed shortly behind Victoria she took a moment to look over her shoulder and waved goodbye to the rest of her friends. She started to think for a moment as Victoria explained a little bit about her situation with her sister. "Who is your sister if I may ask?" Madalyne asked her, it was her first time really having a conversation with Victoria really before thinking about an idea. "Do you happen to have something of her's on you, or maybe a sample of some kind from her?" She knew of a few spells that were tracking spells, her father Ed used hair samples from anyone to heal others usually with a sample of their hair. "I could try a tracking spell with those." She told her.

"It's most likely dimensional magic, Agatha's tent was in a small pocket dimension." She said as Madalyne then nodded. "I think I could try and do a protection spell of some kind. Also do you know what the runes and symbols look like?" She asked.

"It's Cassandra Lang. Okay, I guess we aren't really blood related, in case that is important, but it's what you feel towards a person that counts, right? Afraid I don't have any such keepsake, unless magic can work with data ownership." Vicky shared, looking over her shoulder to see if per chance a hair didn't fall out while they were walking side by side, but no luck. They came to a stop some distance before the haunted house.

"This is about as close as I can get on my own. I reached closer and my hand went numb for minutes." she reached into her pocket and slipped on the Powerglove, pointing her palm towards the attraction and projecting what she was seeing over the real thing, the projection changing in real time to match what Victoria saw. "It seems similar enough to Agatha's tent, although I only got a brief glimpse of that before I blacked out." She realy wished Agatha told her what she did to bring her back right about now.

"Tracking spells tend to work a lot better of you have something personal from them. Though maybe a picture could work as well to." Madalyne said as she listened to Victoria as she explained. Madalyne obviously knew about Cassie Lang being on the Young Avenger's team and what not, but she didn't know her personally.

She never known magic to make someone blackout before from what Victoria had explained, unless it was some sort of enchantment. "Maybe it was an enchantment, you can have one to keep certain people out." Madalyne suggested.

"Tracking is a benefit, first I need to even get there." she noted and gave a hollow chuckle when Mads worded out loud the possibility that was always on Vicky's mind but she was harboring every hope some of the other alternatives would be true. "How certain 'certain' are we talking about? As in: 'Don't let in anyone tall, blond and green eyed', or 'Screw Victoria in particular'? I certainly hope this is not some magic teacher inside joke." she groaned, before hitting on an idea. She raised her hand, keeping in safe distance for now but just about. "If you saw it work, would you be able to tell?" The only certainty that seemed to be dawning on Victoria was that she would most likely not get anywhere fast tonight.

Mary Sue Sullivan

Location: Cafeteria
Skills: N/A
Costume: Friendship

Mary Sue shrugged at Zari, if Zari wasn't serious about winning the competition, that was her prerogative, she supposed. Until their team could function as a unit, they'd always be worse than they could be. She didn't say it but she was relieved; she wanted to see how far she could go. A world where she, as a first year, helped stage an upset in the Contest, was one where she thought she might just be happy, at least for a little while. She needed to feel like it made sense for her to be here, and she still didn't, even with he knowledge of her power changing, even with everything she's done so far.

Entering the haunted house, Mary Sue steeled herself, but there was a pit in her stomach, flinching when she realized that she was very suddenly alone. She flinched from the shock, but quickly tried to take her her surroundings; a large cavern permeating the walls, stretching on for almost forever, holes of all sizes permeating the walls, but a clear path forward in front of her. She was twitchy from the sudden loss of Zari and Andy, but she tried to keep her mind sharp; this was safe... right?

Walking through, she felt as if she was being watched, as if every action she took was being calculated against. Her heartrate was rising quickly, and she nervously looked behind her shoulder to see nothing of not behind her, only to turn back and see a perfect copy of herself with a kind smile on her face. Jumping back, Mary Sue was ready to fight, but everything, the quick look of concern, the extending of hands, the open posture, told her that the person in front of her wasn't a threat. Lowering her guard, she choked out a "What the hell is going on?"

"Beats me!" The copy of herself responded, staying still for now, apparently not wanting to be the first to approach. "I started existing a few minutes ago..." A look of worry crossed her doppelganger's face "The house seemed to really mess up everyone else, maybe it's going to hurt me instead of you." She offered, and Mary Sue's face was filled with fear and remorse. Was that the idea? Torture her without every hurting her. She couldn't imagine something worse for a hero, but to helplessly watch as somebody is damaged in the most fundamental of ways.

"Well... let's make sure that doesn't happen." the young hero tried, closing the distance between the two of them, "We're heroes right? We save people." She rested a hand on her clone's shoulder, and forced a smile. "So I guess I just have to save m-" She started to say, but was interrupted by the shooting pain of a sword running through her gut. Almost more distracting than that though, was the almost melodic giggling of the copy in front of her, as the weapon phased out of existence. "You know, I think that's what I hate about us the most. Not that we're naive, because God knows we aren't, but that we think we're better than everyone else." She said, her voice dripping with a level of content that was previously absent.

As Mary Sue staggered back, she turned to run, needing to take some kind of space to reassess the situation but she was a wounded animal being cornered by a predator. No sooner did she turned away did she find herself chained to herself. "See, this is what I mean," her tone has taken to condescension, and she continued on as Mary Sue glared, and clutched her stomach. "Everybody who's walked out of here has been scared out of their mind, and you still think you're going to walk through unscathed. You're so scared of failure, not because you can't take it, but because you could never prepare for an outcome that you don't believe is possible."

While she was being monologued at, Mary Sue had thought herself clever, and had managed to conjure a tunic around her waist, pulling the wound tight, and stemming the bleeding that'd been leaving her weak and dizzy. Bearing her teeth, she lunged towards this awful version of herself, only to quickly find her arm being held behind her back, and her body pulled up close. Her eyes widened and she struggled helplessly, a knife suddenly pressed against her throat.

"Listen to me." The command was curt, short, and accentuated by the cold steel threatening to end her life. "You're going to die here, and that's okay. It's expected, it's probably what's right for us in the long run, but for as long as I exist, I want you to remember this." The blade pierced her skin, and Mary Sue could feel the rush of cold air hit her throat at an angle that it never ever should. "You are not special for being worse. You can work as hard as you want, fight as much as you can, but as you are, you are poison. Either give up, or accept what you are, but never try to act in spite of yourself" These were the last words Mary Sue hear as she fell to her knees. This couldn't be happening, this wasn't ever supposed to happen. But it was, and as she spiraled into unconsciousness, all her pain was gone, and she found herself lying on the floor, out of the house. She almost couldn't move, instead staying where she was in the fetal position, tear pouring soundlessly from her eyes.

Dorian rolled his eyes playfully as his boyfriend protested the idea that he couldn't light someone on fire. It wasn't so much as that he wasn't capable of it, if anything he might be too capable, more so that doing so would reflect poorly on the team and potentially disqualify them from the Contest. Even Dorian had pulled back slightly on his school pranks so as to not out his team in a bad light. ” ‘is performance was fine. But ‘e does need a ‘eroes outfit. Somet'in’ beyond the school uniform we are given. But I suppose t'ats easier said t'an done. We've been t'inkin’ up ours for ages, ‘es just started ‘is journey into AA. T'ough clearly ‘is ability to perform far outweighed the use of a school uni.” Dorian rebutted with a smile. He wanted to turn his attention back to what Danni had been talking about previously, a victory party, but no sooner had they been roped in that Mads and V just up and left to help out her sister. He was hurt, but tried not to let it show.

” Families important! So save your sister from social disasters!” Dorian called out as they left, unsure of exactly what the situation was. ”OK well t'ats fine. We can plan it ourselves, always do anyways. I'll sketch up tech for Vicky to make as ‘er portion of t'e party contribution. Maybe see if dad could send me some Spells for Mads to use for the party to ‘ave a bit of mystical decor. As for the fireworks…sparklers are fine. And allowed or not I'm certain I can get my ‘ands on t'em. Maybe see if Poisson-Pas can spring for bigger ones to do a celebration outside. After all ‘e ‘as to be proud of us. Non?. Oh and I made a new friend!” Dorian chirped as he pointed at the raptor curled at his feet.

“‘ey! ‘Ow am I supposed ta know t'at?!( Danni whined after a yelp at the flick, rubbing away the sting and sticking his tongue out at Maddie childishly. “Yeah, we'll plan it ourselves. Can't ‘ave Princess ‘elp since it's for ‘er and all t'at. Spicy, you good at party plannin’? Maybe you can ‘elp too! And t'en get a spark o’ inspiration for your fit, ya know? 10/10 fantastic feedback loop!”

Danni looked down at the little raptor that Dee pointed out. It was so teeny, tiny! “Oh! My dragon and your raptor are gunna be bffs! I mean, as long as t'ey don't try ta eat each ot'er t'ough. But I'm sure it's fine! Bffs don't each each ot'er!” Danni laughed, tempted to pet the raptor but afraid it would bite and he would go boom and the night would ruined. So using his best judgment, he satisfied his need to touch by poking Dee on the nose. “Okay, well, since t'e girls are clearly abandonin’ us for t'e ‘ous, Imma just slide out on t'e dance floor and ‘ave fun ‘cause I don't wanna wait ‘round and miss out! You should join! It'll be fun, we'll get silly wit’ it, and then we'll go and get t'e after party set up!” Danni told the couple, already heading closer to the DJ.
