Hi Y'all! I'm Nani (She/her) and I don't have a lot of experience with this kind of RP forum, though I've played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons and love the roleplay aspect of that. I also really just like writing and I'm hoping having someone to RP with will help me stay consistent with practicing. Outside of that, I'm a big nerd, I like Anime, Some videos games (Though I am a pretty casual gamer), and I enjoy board games.

Well, the upsides of forum-RPs is they're less prone to scheduling issues than in-person or instant-messages, and unlike RP via E-mail, far more conductive to people joining mid-session. Or just sharing in some insane actions one of the players took. Albeit not as dramatic as a livestream.

Being able to stumble upon and dogpile into an RP while it's mid-game is actually a pretty huge thing. And that aspect is kinda laid-back like roaming a convention and just inviting yourself to a table that looks neat.

That's the basics of the forum-medium.

@Foster Oh ok, I'm not used to just jumping in mid-game, so that's gonna be new to me lol. I remember I tried to join a forum my friend told me about when I was in either middle school or high school but like a month after I joined, it got changed to something completely different so I feel I have no experience whatsoever lol.

But thanks for the info! I'm super excited to jump in.

Jumping into an RP usually means asking OOCly if you can join, most likely making a character-sheet, and then making an intro-post in the IC which is basically a cold-opening zeroth-session that gets your character up to speed with the story and everyone else up to speed with your character; at least up to speed enough to begin interacting with you.

Making an intro, but being so far removed from the group their characters aren't even aware of your character until 5 pages later is less than ideal. I've seen it done, it can work, but it's more work.

That's usually how it goes. In a persistent-world RP (PW-RP) you can oftentimes just barge in like the Kool-Aide man (since all characters are established and agreed to as canon). Oh yeah.
-Technically nothing would be stopping them aside from ruffling some feathers OOCly.
