Perry knew it had to be bad, though she still didn't quite get how bad it was when some random dude appeared, spouting off some nonsense. "Oh great, he's a Christian nutjob."

Before she could get off more zingers the man had thrown a bus at them. It wasn't metaphorical, he literally threw a bus at them. They didn't manage to get out of the way, sending them back and being thrown for quite the loop. Perry landed hard, feeling something crack in her wrist as she did. Pain shot up through her arm in that moment.

She stood up, albeit slowly. Perry looked at the man and felt the emtions wave off of him. Anger. Sheer anger. Vengeful anger enough to want all of them before him dead. That wasn't good.

"Screw you Moses!" she said as she sent a blast of spiritual energy forward from her. She didn't quite know where that came from, but one didn't look a gift horse in the mouth, especially as it hit him and sent him flying backward. As she did Barry ran forward and shot his taser at Chrysi, zapping her briefly but not enough to do much else. They had to stop them both if they wanted to get out of this.

Ed Penior

Location: New Orleans - Botanical Gardens
Skills: Magic
Items:
Magic cloak (like Dr Strange that allows him to fly)
Protection Amulet from Klara

Ed had dodged a damn bus. Exodus was there and that guy was the worst. Chrysi had been stalling. Ed wished he could have kept talking to her. Kept trying to find a way forward. He understood Mary a bit better now. But he hadn't been there for all of those things. His family had been hiding doing their secret society bull shit. He needed to step up. He needed to take over the family and start doing good for the world. Too bad the family was so broken and few now. But it would be better than doing nothing.

That's what Ed was thinking about as he started trying to heal those who had been hit by the bus. Orange light flickered from his hands and failed to transmit to those hurt. He frowned. Hoping this wasn't something he had to be worried about. He cast the spell again, touching each Perry, Pietro, Jaclyn and Bethany's jars.

Again the spell flickered and then died out. Ed took a slow breath. Centering himself. Pushing the worry of his family and his own magic failing him aside. He couldn't let that concern him right now. Now he had to help his friends. This time his magic flowed from his hand and a tendril of orange light touched each of the four. They would feel warmth in the spots where they had gotten hurt and the pain would fade. Their bodies healing.

New Orleans Botanical Gardens

"Loki? That would not surprise me given what I have been mostly told are the issues he's caused more recently. Including the knocking me off the Bifrost Bridge," Klara commented, following along after the group.

"Wait Max before you heal you should really--" he started to say, before Max went about doing things anyway, and even still it didn't look like it fully healed the right way, at least to him, "...Set the bone..." That was kind of "Using Powers to Heal People 101" otherwise you have a much higher risk of accidentally making everything worse and having the bones mend in the wrong way.

"Damn it I hate Exodus," Pietro muttered, looking at the others around. His legs still really weren't doing the greatest in part to the little mishap, but at least he'd be able to stand and move. Even if it might hurt a bit, as he stood up off the ground. "At least not as bad as the last encounter..."

"If you need that rebroken to heal it correctly later let me know," he looked over at the speedster.

The speedster who immediately looked up and said "CAR!!!!".

Pietro managed to grab Max and yanked him out of the way, and Lance turned and looked, seeing what looked to be a Tesla car flying right at them. Instead of moving, he shifted and caught the car, preventing any more injuries or whatever from the one car. But then there was the looking over at Exodus, and there he was, flying in the air. With several more Teslas in the air.

"That is not a good sign..." Mira commented, having come over to see about helping out with Exodus.

"I hear not your falsehoods - I hear only the truth, the voice of my Goddess - and she has bade me to strike you down, Judases!" Exodus called out, before he started throwing the Teslas at the group.

"Can he seriously not with the whole thing? Him and his ramblings are getting a bit annoying..."

The cars started flying, and Pietro raced over, managing to get Perry out of the way of one of the falling cars. Seems like whatever had caused him to freeze up before was definitely over with at the moment. Another car flew over at Mira as she got over to the rest of the group, but she let out a powerful shriek that deflected the car away from her and everyone else. Another went straight for Jaclyn, managing to hit the ground right by her and sending her backwards, thankfully not being a direct hit.

Unfortunately Lance wasn't quite fast enough to catch the next car to come at him, and he got hit directly, though thankfully for him since he had shifted, he remained unharmed. Another car attacked Perry, but thankfully she was still next to Pietro who managed to get them out of the way (just barely anyway). Then Mira got hit this time by another car, getting hit directly as she went flying away from the spot and hit the ground.

The remaining cars he had in the air, they managed to not land or hit anyone else, so that was something.

"This certainly is a fun thing," Chrysi said with a smile, as fire started swirling around her. The first blast of fire she sent out didn't seem to hit anyone (likely due to the bad luck that Perry had caused). However that wasn't the end of anything, as a whip of fire slammed right into Max instead, causing some severe burns and sending him flying. Fire was surrounding the entire area, and she just sort of smirked at the group. "When will people ever learn not to cause so many issues. This is starting to get ridiculous." The plant life in the area started catching on fire, and there was getting to be quite a bit of smoke around.

"Oh no you don't," Klara muttered, as she summoned up water, and sent it out, trying to douse the fire that was starting to potentially get out of control. Hoping to at least mildly contain it.

Guin and Annie
They'd see another version of Mary walking into the parlor room, but as she entered her green eyes started shifting to red. And another familiar person also walked into the room, someone who had long since left the mansion. That being Ayita, who had walked in behind her. "Okay, you wanted to talk Ayita, let's talk then." she had somewhat snapped. But before Ayita responded or said anything, the group would see slight movement off to the side. Then the playback of memory seemed to freeze in place suddenly.

"...Wait you weren't in this particular memory," a voice behind them called out, and they'd find Mary standing behind them. "How did you get here..."

"These two sort of go trapped by Chrysi, I decided to try and help them so I came in after."

"I see..."

"If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is this memory of?"

"This? Oh um... Well it's kind of when Chrysi sprang into existence... During the Mesmero incident a while back. Figured it'd be harder for her to find me. That she wouldn't look here. Since you know, I tend to try not to think about that sort of moment... Never told anyone but I blacked out. I remember when we went to go after Mesmero, but afterwards I completely blanked out on it. First moment I really noticed something was wrong..." she responded, not really looking over at the group, thinking about something. "You guys should really get out of here though, fast... Something's coming."

Those last words had barely left her mouth when suddenly there was a swirl of frenzied motion, as several almost shadow like creatures came flying into the room, and started trying to attack all of them. Thankfully though at the moment, none of their attacks seemed to land, so that was nice.

Carolina Reed

Location: New Orleans, Botanical Gardens
Skills: Astral Projection & Possession

Carolina entered the botanical gardens with the others, she saw Exodus there with a bunch of Teslas floating around him and throwing them at all of her friends. She saw that Chrysi was summoning fire now around her and started to set the place on fire which wasn't good at all, her attention went towards Exodus she didn't want to hurt her friend yet and decided to go after him.

She then astral projected herself out of her body and moved over to Exodus and attempted to try and possess him. She hoped to at least stall him for a little bit to give the others an opening to attack him. She was wasn't able to on the first try, so she tried again and she managed to possess him for only a second before he ejected her out him, she tried once again but it failed as well to.

Bethany Bell

New Orleans, Botanical Gardens
Skills: Shadow Manipulation & Solidfication

Bethany turned to see that some of the others were able to finally join them, hopefully they were able to get whatever they needed in order to stop Chrysi and save Mary. Then Chrysi started to summon fire around her and started to set the entire garden on fire all around her, she watched as Carolina tried to attack Exodus so she turned her focus on Chrysi and attacked her.

Bethany sent out some shadows making them solid she was glad to see that they were able to start to wrap around her tightly and slammed her down onto the ground. "Chrysi why are you having him work for you?" Bethany asked as she looked over at Exodus.

This Jesus freak was pissing Perry off. Despite her best efforts, Exodus had taken a hit and was still gunning for them. And he really liked using vehicles. "I do not accept Christ in my....wait..goddess?" Perry believed the world was women, but this was a first.

She had a moment's clarity as she felt the hurt in her arm heal. Ed had seemingly healed her. Before she knew what to do and who to thank she saw a car coming at her. Pietro had managed to pull her away in time, though the others were not so lucky. "Thanks man."

Perry had enough of this dude. Nodding at her spirits, Detective Ed pushed forward, grabbing on to Exodus' legs and freezing him in place. Adonatille summoned a curse on him, changing his luck. With two great feats done, Perry attempted to summon that nergy back and hit him, but her shot went wide, missing him. "Big talk from a man lobbing cars at us! Didn't Jesus preach love and kindness? Or does your goddess enjoy the pain of others hypocrite!"

Guin Stark

Location: New Orleans Botanical Gardens
Skills: N/A

Guin paused for a moment, watching as the memory started to play back - and then abruptly froze. It had been a long time since she had thought about Ayita. A year or so at least - her memory on when certain folks had joined the team and left the team was hazier the longer she was here. That was one of the weird parts about being with the X-Men - all of the students seemed to roughly stay the same age, giving the illusion that no time was passing, not really. She still felt like the young SHIELD agent who had shown up to the mansion, still having to have a supervising officer with her, barely eighteen years old. And now here she was, a seasoned X-Man, and married. So much had changed.

She turned around, seeing Mary there - not the one from the memory, but another Mary. Their Mary. Hiding in her own memory - the memory of when Chrysi had first emerged. But no sooner had they found Mary than strange shadows came into the room, trying to attack them. If Guin had to guess, Chrysi's way of trying to take them out of the picture.

Good thing she had a sword.

The fight fell into chaos. Exodus was throwing cars at everyone. Max had showed up though. That meant that the back up was here. With something from Asgard. Ed hoped it wouldn't hurt Mary. They just needed to get the Phoenix out. Ed needed to think less laterally. He realized now that with the cloak he could get up and over the fight. It wrapped around him and he shot up into the air. He had been ready to shield himself if he needed to, but it hadn't been necessary.

Now he was above the fight and could see it from a bird's eye view. He could see where the cars were being thrown at his team. So he started bubbling the cars and moving them farther away, setting them down in a parking lot. No guarantee the car was undamaged, but it'd be in a better state than being thrown around like baseballs.

Maximillian Gray

Location: Shi'ar Throne World
Skills: Current Outfit: Header Image

Orange light began to envelope the others around him, wounds stitching close, broken fragments healing together, as a familiar magic began to wash over them. Ed was here, he was ok. His ability to heal over great distances always astounded Max, even James had to make physical contact in order to heal someone from the brink of death or less. Before Max could tell Lance that he knew, that he'd simply forgotten about setting the bone, he was suddenly wrapped up in the most unlikely of arms and quickly displaced by the silver haired speedster. He seemed to be running fine, which made Max wonder, did Ed not need to set bones for his magic?. Another astonishing development of the mutant wizards power.

Max went to move and his stomach did a flip, not used to the speedsters powers as he'd never been carried off by him before. There was a small bout of nausea before intense heat pressed against his body and he went flying backwards, landing on a lush part of grass as the flames ate away at his coat. Teslas landing in the background, each slamming against the concrete like a judges gavel sentencing them to death. Max was really starting to hate this guy. They had two choices, either get Mary down now while she was still chair bound, or deal with Exodus. He didn't want to risk bringing out the Phoenix Force in full and fighting Exodus at the same time, but that could happen regardless who they attacked.

Everyone else seemed to be focusing on the Bible thumper. Snagging him, freezing him, Max was pretty sure one ghost just went ‘boo!’ and left, all hopefully great distractions away from himself so that he could do what was necessary. Klara had now began to fight back Mary's…no, Chrysi's flames, and would hopefully provide enough cover for him to work his magic. Max sat up and moved away from the fight, hiding behind a bush in the gardens as he attempted to adjust his spell. At first the magic flickered, fighting him on what he was trying to do. But then he recalled how Ed used symbolic magic, and thought maybe doing something similar, something Visual, would help.

So max worked on creating the first portal, a miniature one right before like a holographic model of what was about to come. He then split it, wanting to go five ways but only managing to get four done. Hopefully that would be fine. Hopefully it'd be enough. The model itself looked like a box made of circles, each rim touching the next to cage Chrysi in her chair. Surrounding her with only the area above her open. Once then matrix was set, Max solidified it and made it real, rings opening around Chrysi encircling her, each one acting as a gateway from the Lasers blast directly to her. Max looked over towards Ben, and Runa, giving them a thumbs up as a go ahead to smoke the flaming space chicken.

Antoinette McCarthy

Location: Mary's Mind Palace — New Orleans
Skills:

Antoinette felt more comfortable with the next location they were in. This was something that seemed more familiar, and the Mary that approached them was also familiar. However, when the scene froze Antoinette became hyper vigilant until the current Mary made her presence known.

Antoinette nodded in agreement with Jean's explanation. They didn't get much of a chance to talk. No sooner had Mary finished warning them did shadows appear and begin their assault. A rather tame assault which gave them time to regroup.

”What about you, Mary? We came to help and do something about Chrysi. She's completely taken over,” Antoinette explained.

Jaclyn "OfAll" Chreyz

Location: New Orleans - Botanical Gardens
Skills: Power Mimicry - Chlorokinesis

OfAll's intentions to manifest telepathy didn't pan out --in fact, it was though the thought were truly a train, going through her mind before she could catch it. She didn't even feel what she should in her body when she actually made a manifest attempt. Like only deciding to get up but not actually activating your muscles.

Alright, then I should be here, OfAll determined, as the pain in her head disappeared with the familiar warmth of Edus' magic.

She only just managed to get up when another vehicle came her way, sending her back --Whew! Too many close calls, with these past two not even from who they'd thought they'd be fighting. Then one of the entities they did made itself known --flames lashing out from Chrysi/Mary's form. OfAll felt the pain of the burning plants through her chlorokinesis.

There were a lot of moving parts in this fight, now --everything suddenly ramping up: more players -good that the numbers were on their side, evening the power balance, hopefully-- volleys from both sides, some succeeding, though it was hard to see --the visual field reduced first from the flames and smoke, then the subsequent haze from Klara's dousing of the former.

A whoosh up--Edus with his cape. This gave OfAll one idea; more mobility with the potential for offensive and defensive work.
If she could pull it off, she'd join Edus up there. Coordinated efforts from multiple angles could be the winning strategy -if the glow of portals was anything to go by, Max was already implementing an multi-angle assault, and the only gap in the magic was above.

Quickly scanning the area, OfAll looked for a specific object relating to a second idea; one which would compliment her first.

Unfortunately, she didn't find it, and running to search seemed like a foolish idea -for herself.
She had a backup in that respect, but that would come after. For now she switched her attention to manifesting. . .could second time be the charm for a sprightly mutation? . .Apparently not. OfAll felt the effort this time, yet nothing became of it. She grimaced in some distress. Chlorokinesis was feeling like a detriment now. . .If she weren't a beginner in Okichitaw she might consider getting-in close. . .Think. Think!

She was keeping a cool head, yet fast realizing she should've spent at least part of the preceding month in the Danger Room --kicking her brain more in the gear of thinking on her feet. If only she could manifest others' cerebral cortexes. Specifically her little sister's; Holo could always come up with something in a flash.

That could've been a solution right there.
Except OfAll never could manifest Holo's powers.

She kept watchful eyes on the field, hoping if nothing else her observational skills could be of service, while she kept wracking her brain; beyond just what she could manifest: What was it Chrysi had said?

Avery Spellman

Location: New Orleans
Skills: N/A

A series of portals appeared, fractured from a singular point, concentrated into one destination - into the Phoenix. Runa added to them with one of her own. Ben studied the control panel, looking at the buttons - they seemed roughly the same color to him, and he cursed under his breath. He had spent so long as a ghost - almost two decades - that he'd almost forgotten a fundamental fact about himself. He was color blind. The buttons all looked the same, all varying shades of grey. He didn't know which one was The Big Red Button and which ones were green - and his Shi'Ar skills had atrophied since he was a kid. It wasn't like he had had much incentive to keep up with the language as a ghost. And he never worried too much about what he wore, as he tended to dress in black, and half of the time, his husband set out outfits for him anyways.

"Are you pressing anything?" Runa asked, peering her head over Ben's shoulder. "Why don't you press that one?"

"That one isn't the right one!" Ben insisted.

"Try the red one," Avery offered.

"No, the green one - it's obviously the green one!"

"No, it's never the red one!" Avery insisted.

Runa narrowed her eyes. "Boy-"

"-I'm not a boy."

"Child - I have been alive since before even your ancestors breathed their first breath - Listen to me when I say it is the green one."

"Well..." Avery faltered. They didn't know what to say to that. They wished that Max were here - that he knew of some sort of spell that could tell them how to operate this contraption. Or that the Shi'Ar had sent them with any sort of instruction as to its use. However, Runa wasn't the only immortal - surely Ben was just as ancient as his husband? Or maybe they were wrong - maybe Ben was tragically fated to die, while his husband never aged? "Ben agrees with me, and if he's nearly as old as his husband, I think we should listen to his expertise."

Ben narrowed his eyes. "I'm twice Max's age," he grumbled. "Only physically younger."

Twice Max's age? Avery's eyes widened. Was Ben older than time itself? Max was ancient, for Ben to be his senior... He must have been alive before even the planets had formed. Was Ben some sort of spirit, some sort of fundamental force? Runa was a goddess. Was Max's husband a deity?

Ben, however, was tired of this arguing - and he slammed his fist down on one of the buttons, seeing the machine slowly begin to operate. His eyes widened though, as the laser didn't... didn't immediately fire. He had thought it was ready, that once they pressed the button, it would fire off. Instead, they were sitting ducks, the portals open right in front of them, exposing them. "Fuck!" Ben slammed his fist down on the button again, trying to get it to fire off faster.

"Try pressing it gently," Runa said.

"I am pressing it gently!"

"Maybe there's a lever we can pull?"

Runa shook her head. "We're running out of time. I can fix this."

And then the Asgardian kicked the extremely fragile laser, and Ben nearly had an aneurysm.

What the hell was wrong with these people?
