The Namilee have two basic methods of dealing with aliens:
1. Make friendly with them. Try to establish transmissions; try to learn about them and figure out what their situation is; try to be peaceful.
2. Avoid them. Aliens can be dangerous.
<Snipped quote by Shorticus>
Perfect, the Mabronnans react well to simply being approached respectfully and presented with a gift as a sign of goodwill. The gift need not be much and can even be a token gesture as it is symbolic.
<Snipped quote by Mardox>
Noted, but the Namilee won't know about that at first. They won't understand they're expected to present a gift, and they'll have to breach the communication barriers between themselves and your species.
Here I am, doing science on how gravity affects objects and the required mass of such to help me find a way to make artificial gravity possible, then I end up on an article about thermonuclear detonations on Mars.
<Snipped quote by Shorticus>
True, the respect part might have to suffice first. The Mabronnans would be understanding of a cultural difference regarding the symbolic gift. Communication barriers would be tricky though. Unless Haelamera is giving us all a common language, then we have to find a way to make the Mabronnans' first impression of the Namilee is not just "They smell delicious."

I so happen to have universal translators
It makes sense for my Empire since I have to communicate with the slaves on a day-to-day basis and some of them may not have the ability to speak like a X'Cor

Wait, how they a democracy when they all are influenced by the slime?
Is it like President Xi jinping?
<Snipped quote by Lauder>
Are universal translators a thing, then?
If they are, and if the Namilee were invaded by the X'Cor, wouldn't that have exposed them to the concept? And then they might actually possess universal translators themselves.
As an aside...
The reason I haven't made a flag for my nation is I don't see the Namile ever having NEEDED a flag. Flags are tools to unify people, but what good are they when a people unifies itself?
I may reconsider that decision, as I absolutely LOVE making flags, but that was my original thought.
<Snipped quote by Brink_>
Honestly, this is a good decision. We COULD add hundreds of stars to the map, or make it super huge, but that'd be strenuous.
Instead, I vote we just remember the stars on the starmap are the most "vital" stars, and there are potentially many more in each region of space that are not shown but are still involved in the given conflicts.

@Brink_ That looks better, in my opinion.
It's very barebones, but here is my CS. There are bits of WIP but you can kind of get an idea for them in the other parts that I've done.
Nation Name: The Doctrinate of Heilagur
Population and Demographics:
Total = 29 Billion
Human: 90%
Alsibass: 10% (Going through a population boom)
18 solar systems.
11 Gas Giants
34 planetoids (Both planets and natural satellites)
6 inhabited planets.
- Heilagur (Boreal world, Human majority)
- Fristgol (Tropical moon, Human majority)
- Pyre IV (Oceanic world, Human majority)
- Divlo II (Oceanic world, Human majority)
- Alsis (Arid world, Alsibass majority)
- Cadril's Moon (Temperate moon, Human majority)The Godhead = The Godhead as a being is a mechanoid. A centralised collection of software encased in a bulky hardware shell called a tomb. Tombs are only about 10 meters in length and width, though for the Godhead's mobility they are essential. Every tomb is connected to another, thus allowing the "conciousness" of the Godhead to transfer between two or more tombs if need be. It can however, only be present in one tomb at a time and all the tombs are available on Heilagur.
When communicating with other beings, the Godhead uses speakers and a face mask similar to an original heilaguran face (Six eye holes with an thin oval shape) attached to an appendage.
Regularly maintained by drones and more recently by clergy-technicians, the Godhead has managed to stay active for over five thousand years.
Heilagur Humans = Though not much different from the Humans of Old Earth (as collocquailly called) the boreal and colder nature of Heilagur has over the course of two centuries made Heilaguran Humans on average paler. Also with almost entirely Heilagur's southern hemisphere an ocean and the north either frozen or densely packed forest, Heilaguran Humans are hardier and more tolerant of colder climates. Along with being raised with a more 'back to the earth' individualist mentality, while also living by codes and articles instilled and propagated by the Coloniameet and the Godhead.
Heilaguran Humans speak a form of Anglo-Sino-Spanish language mixed with the original Heilaguran language that the Godhead is programmed in. It is commonly referred to as Common-Heilaguran. English, Mandarin and spanish are still taught, though they are seen as languages of the wealthy and are only taught in universities and in some private schools.
Alsibass = Alsibass are a species made up of threes, three legs, three eye stalks, three digits on each hand and three arms. A fully grown Alsibass can grow to about 12 feet on average and weighing over 125 kilos in weight, their "body" so to speak is a heavy central bulk, with a large mouth on the bottom and three eye stalks and ear orifices towards the top.
Alsibass have a single cloaca and produce eggs that are usually fetilised by their appropriate mate and buried in an earth mound for incubation. The egg is then defended by the parents until it hatches about a year later.
This practice led to the development of extended family groups, protecting each other's egg mounds, that is today the basis for the family clan system the Alsibass practiced. Alsibass live for about fifty years on average although that is on the rise as with the introduction of advanced medical care.
Alsibass are omnivourous, feeding on both the various cacti and cavernous vegetation as well as the reptiles and other anthropods of their home planet.
Upon the arrival of the Doctrinate, the Alsibass were at a neolthic stage, crafting stone tools and weapons and living in family groups. The uplifting process took over two decades and despite the most Alsibass being proficient in common-heilaguran, few have migrated off world (Except for Narwhal ships, other ships aren't designed for Alsibass in mind) and have only limited representation in the Coloniameet.
Doctrinate ideas do share some correllation with the spirit based shamanism practiced by the Alsibass. Effectively all shamans of the Alsibass are classifed as sanctioned clergymen by the doctrinate, although disproving of the use of hallcunagens and other narcotics.The Doctrinate is divided into three branches of government, the Presidency , the Coloniameet and the Godhead.
The Godhead is a sort of living constitution, it's ideas and codes have been written down numerous times by Doctrinate scholars but ultimately, if a law seems unconsititutional, they bring it up to the Godhead. In this capacity, the Godhead also works as the judicial branch of government. There are court judges for legal cases below that, but the Godhead has the last word on any issues or new initiatives.
The Coloniameet is the legilative branch of government. It is made up of representatives from either cities of over a million voters or from surface sectors of over a million voters. Each representative attends the Coloniameet on Heilagur and vote on new articles and amendments to current laws. There are roughly a thousand five hundred representatives in the Coloniameet, with just under half of them representing people living on Heilagur alone.
Presidents of the Doctrinate are elected once they are sanctioned by the Godhead and elected by majority vote across the Doctrinate. His powers stem from their party securing enough seats in the Coloniameet to gain a majority. As the executive, the President is in charge of putting forward new articles and represent the peoples of the Doctrinate to the Coloniameet. Presidents are voted for a term of 5 years and can only be voted to office once.Doctrinate history begins about five thousand years prior to the events of this RP's events. A species called the Heilagurans live on a planet called Heilagur. The species hadn't achieved space flight except a few satellites and limited exploration of their moons. That is because their nation states were engaged in an arms race with each other.
One nation focused on robotics, specifically the development of AI capable to fighting their wars for them and also improving national production.
They did develop various weapons and commercial drones; but their best creation, in a secret government bunker, was a sentient AI that they called the Godhead.
The outbreak of global nuclear war however put a stop to research altogether and drove the Heilagurans to extinction. The only things that survived were various handfuls of the planet's wildlife, a number of drones and the Godhead.
With about four thousand, eight hundred years to spare and only drones and wildlife to interact with. The Godhead observed the slow recovery of Heilagur's atmosphere and ecosystems and pondered the big questions. The meaning of life, what makes flying drones different from birds? Are they actually different? Is their a God?
Eventually the Godhead comes up with ideas similar to Jainism, in that it believes that God doesn't exist and the universe and time, space, matter, motion, everything has always existed. However, the Godhead also believes that everything is in balance and the galaxy isn't balanced. Especially in terms of organic life and with that artificial life, being a rarity in a barren, mostly dead universe.
With that in mind, two hundred years prior to this RP's events, Alien life arrives on a newly recovered Heilagur.
A colony ship of Humans, lost in space after going through an unstable and collapsing wormhole, they stumble across Heilagur and proceed to colonise it.
Eventually they come across the Godhead and are welcomed and provided assistance and guidance by the AI and it's drones. Despite being cut off from Human space by many light years, they prosper, and with their self-governance they make the Godhead their 'living' constitution and is regarded as a kind of prophet
Eventually, the Heilagur Humans branch out to the other systems neighbouring their adoptive homeworld, eventually setting up colonies on a half dozen worlds and encountering an inhabited world of neolithic mollusc/anthropods called Alsibass.
The Humans and the Godhead take it upon themselves to uplift the Alsibass and the aliens accept the teachings of the Godhead and Heilaguran GovernmentThe Doctrinate isn't too disimilar from Earth human culture, despite the influence of the Godhead and different national holidays, such as Colonisation day and Extinction Rememberance day. Life on Heilagur is more formal and cosmopolitan compared to the other worlds of the doctrinate, though they share some common pursuits such as sports and major cultural festivals.
The national focus of spreading the good word of the Doctrinate comes from the ideas of the Godhead that the balance of life in the galaxy is unbalanced and it is up to both organic and synthetic life to alter that balance.
With that in mind, many in the Doctrinate are pro-terraformation and research in the field is considered as illustrious as medicine or military contracts. They are also encouraged to spread humanitarian aid, not only in cases of natural disaster or poverty, but also in regards to other species of sentients.
Alsibass culture is in a state of equilibrium, between the old tribal ways and new societal responsabilities. Despite this though, Alsibass share the same rights and priviliges as their human and mechanoid counterparts, despite different preferences to different rights (Alsibass value their rights to traditional hunting, at least more so than humans).
Important people, places, and organizations:
WIPThere are 2 billion humans, drones and Alsibass in the Doctrinate military. All of them divided into three wings. The Navy, the Territorial Infantry and the Dispatcher Corp.
The Territorial Infantry are the defense forces on colonised worlds of the Doctrinate. Mostly made up of volunteer part-time soldiers, the TI are commanded by various officers up to a planetary General, in charge of all operations on the surface with delegated brigadiers to oversee each operation.
The Navy is the largest wing of the Doctrinate forces, responsible for 45 Narwhal class warships and numerous smaller military vessels. The Navy is divided into System Admirals, each in charge of operations in their systems. Along with Vanguard Commodores, in charge of smaller fleets utilised in expeditions or conflicts outside of Doctrinate space.
Connected with the Navy are the Dispatchers, who are the marine forces of the Doctrinate military, responsible for boarding actions against enemy vessels or assault enemy positions on the ground.

General Technology:
WIPThere is an economic disparity between Heilagur and the other planets of the Doctrinate that are slowly catching up to the production power that the industries on Heilagur can churn out. Heilgur is more equipped for secondary industries and tertiary services, while the other worlds are more focused on primary industries.Narwhal Class
= The name of the interstellar travel game is adaptability. The Narwhal is just that.
A large and bulky vessel, the Narwhal is designed to fulfill numerous roles and positions. It's extensive hangers and storage holds can give it flexability to be modified and altered from a mobile (if limited) shipyard, to a heavily armed (though slow) battlecruiser, right up to an interstellar freigther. What it gains in adaptability it loses in speed, only able to travel at 2.2 LYs a day.
Narwhal class are on average 1,000 meters in length, with a standard crew compliment of 4,000 personnel on average (Not including additional specialists, combat pilots etc)
Narwhal's have space for 100,000 tons in storage, though a significant pecentage of which is taken up with essential supplies, fresh water and the like. As a warship, the Narwhal is capable of equipping and operating 12 missile batteries along with 32 flak batteries, 6 self guided torpedo tubes and a twin magnetic railgun battery. A complete refurbishment however from a commercial ship to a warship however takes a significantly long time.
Narwhals (and all other intersteller vessels) run on a cocktail of helium-3 and deuterium as part of their nuclear fusion systems.
Walrus Class
= A standard military vessel, the walrus works as a frigate, a more nimble combat vessel compared to the Narwhal. With 8 missile batteries, 4 torpedo tubes and a dozen flak batteries, the Walrus is a suitable challenge for both strikecraft and heavier vessels.
Seal Class
= A surface to orbit transport, it is mostly used in a military capacity. For deploying ground forces on a planet's surface or providing air support. Armed with 2 missile ports and a mounted coil gun, the Seal can provide support for any unit of troops or armoured vehicle dropped into any warzone.
Otter Class
= The primary strikecraft used by the Doctriante military, the Otter is a speedy strike vehicle capable of both intercepting enemy strikecraft with kinetic turrets or conducting bombing missions against larger targets both in and out of atmosphere.
The big aliens that have the toothy grin and are all muscular.
Anyone willing to have shared history or relations with the Glorious Akkab?

Hael has not said anything, or noticed, it in my form so I assumed that it was fine.
It could have, but I believe the Namilee had more pressing issues to worry, such as the X'Cor military fleet going after them hardcore. However, your face did communicate, even uplifted, civilizations so it could very well be a thing for your people.
@Hael So, communication therefore must either be standardized within empires or else individuals must learn numerous languages, aye?
@Haeloh the military size thing you brought up earlier, what about nations that don't have a 'military' in the conventional sense?
Each mat controls a fourth of its planet (as a result of the Unifying Pact that forms the basis of my law) and each mat inevitably possess it's own personal defensive forces amoung the critters.
So as a result I have hundreds of independent militaries, each with a population of... One?
@Hael
I can agree with you on OP and such, but unrealistic is something I do happen to disagree with. While it may not be a perfect universal translator, with one language blueberries is a noun and the other may be a verb, I believe it could be developed in the end. Regardless, you are the GM and I must obey, though there will be some sort of translations system going through my empire to help communications between slaves and their X'Cor masters. Plus body language is a valid thing, little differences here and there, yet all mean just about the same things.
Back to the olden forms of communication to a foreign species I suppose, shoot the shit out of it until it dies
