Rylen found himself counting the "Yes Yes No", matching it to his questions. Yes it's an egg, yes he knows what it'll hatch into, and... No... That it's not going to be awesome? As he was doing this on his own, Hotaru and the kid who would identify himself as Ian were already chatting, he was very quiet, he was pulling out all his stuff and Rylen hadn't noticed amidst this. When he returned to paying attention he turned back to the kid,
"So why don't you think it'd be awesome? And what Pokemon is in the egg?... And why are you unpacking all your stuff here?", he asked.
"Oh wait... Before that, name's Rylen, I heard Ian right? This girl here is Hotaru, she wants to be like, the best Pokemon artist ever, a Pokemon watcher I think she said. And... And I wanna get strong, like, really strong, to protect people... yeah, that's it", as he uttered the last few words, he clenched his hand into a fist and looked towards the distance almost heroic-like, then in a snap he switched back.
"But it might be best to pack your things up. We're gonna get out there on Route 2 as soon as possible, maybe have a picnic or something", he began.
Rolf simply stared at Ace, seemingly petrified from the whole ordeal that had happened before him. He tossed the bag back at Ace, causing Zorua to jump out in a panic - even though Ace was able to catch it. Before he had time to react however, Rolf had taken a hard swing into Ace’s jaw, sending him spiraling to the ground. Zorua became alarmed as his trainer hit the dirt path, lightly scratching and nuzzling Ace’s arm before using Pursuit on Rolf - earning a yelp from Rolf as the Zorua growled deeply at him.
“Zorua, calm yourself.” Ace picked up the pooch in one swoop, sitting up to cradle the agitated Pokemon in his arms - petting his stomach in attempts to appease the Pokemon. “I get it, you’re mad.”
Unsmiling, Rolf furrowed his brows down at Ace, "Listen, I appreciate you footing the bill. Really. Wouldn't mind traveling with you. Don't know the region very well, don't even care what your story is. Murder? Grand theft? Whatever." Rolf leaned in closer to Ace, "But let me tell you somethin'. Take anything that's mine again, or force me to hide when I could do somethin', like you did just now, and I'm out. Don't care if you wanna squeal, you don't even know my name - and you're not gettin' it." Surprisingly, Rolf then offered his hand for him to take.
“Steal from you?” Ace chuckled, taking Rolf’s hand to stand on his feet. “Trust me, if you had anything worth stealing don’t you think I would’ve done it by now? You got that Buizel at a free event, I doubt you’re worth anything.” He smirked, turning away from Rolf and Pinwheel to face the vastness of Route 17. “Oh, and I wouldn’t worry about getting caught, I never have been and plan to keep it that way.”
"-Let's get going. I want out of this place." Rolf seemed a bit uneasy while he pat his Buizels head. “Nervous they might come back? C’mon, the entrance to Route 17 is this way - we are gonna have to cut off the main path and around the outskirts of Estoria if we want to make it to Route 2 which will take us to Dune Town. Let’s try not to stay in one place too long, alright hotshot?”
Without saying another word, Zorua transformed back into Eevee and was placed back inside Ace’s bag. Rolf had said that there Route 17 was the only path not blocked off, probably since it only lead to some old ruins haunted by ghost Pokemon - which made Ace feel a bit tense at the thought, but it had to be done. The two made their way toward the crumbled and eerie ruins just a short distance ahead, scanning the path ahead to stay one step ahead of the unpredictable journey ahead.
Ian nodded and placed his items back into the backpack. He thought back to Rylen's questions from a moment ago. Given the first question, he realized he didn't make it clear exactly who he was responding to with the last question.
"So why don't you think it'd be awesome? And what Pokemon is in the egg?... And why are you unpacking all your stuff here?" Ian had to ponder for a moment on how to answer the first one. Finally he decided exactly what he wanted to say.
"Meant I didn't get it from a daycare" He pointed to the dark blue egg. "It's a Sneasel, and I wanted to contribute." He knew it was a bit of a mouthful for him, but he didn't know how else to explain. He finally zipped the backpack back up and placed it back on his back. He nodded to the other two to make it clear he was ready to go. A picnic certainly didn't seem like a bad idea.
As Henry heard the command, he nervously peeked behind his hand to see a slew of swirls entrenched in blue beings. The Gastly could only look at them all, but felt he had to have some trust in this new friend of his. Closing his eyes, he prepared to use Hypnosis... if not for the sudden, creeping feeling before being jolted imminently. It caused him to rotate, catching a glimpse of his assailant.
Flinching wouldn't even began to describe his first reaction as it just stared, watery eyed with its own mouth agape at the whole situation, leaving Alex helpless to the barrage that was about to transpire.
As Alexander stood there, gazing upon the looming threat, he kept himself relaxed for the remainder as he awaited for Henry to attack. He was unmoving, stalwartly waiting in place as if he was a mountain. Since mountains are technically ground, this next attack would probably be super effective.
Alex watched as the multitudes of them began to near him, some with an even greater amount of menace than before. He was getting pretty antsy over this whole conundrum, so he decided to alert the small orb, just in case he had any lingering doubts.
"Henry, I understand if you're nervous, you just have to trust-"
Alex did not account for the fact that Khata was looming over, denying any potency of the Hypnosis. Looking up, he saw the terrifying visage and that Henry was undeniably paralyzed. "Henry," he shouted out, his eyes widening in worry versus shock and anger. Of course, this probably caused the Poliwags to be more agitated by his actions. One by one they began hopping up to get a full frontal attack on Alex.
He only managed to barely tilt his head back before getting squirted in the face and blasted in the chest by a bunch of pissed off pokemon. It stung like hell on his face, but his chest? It probably would of just hurt as much as his face, but it felt like someone just hit him in an area critical to his health with a stack of bricks.
This exertion managed to knock both parties back, sending Alex sliding backwards before tumbling over onto his sorry ass. Wincing in pain, he rubbed part of his neck which felt tender and glowed a bright red. "Grr, Lynnette," he growled through the slits of his teeth, but not before watching the Poliwags hustle at him once more before attempting the same attack. He was able to see it coming... as well as Henry zooming away from Khata, crying a little.
After a girl had randomly arrived and dragged away the man who violently yelled out in public, Deneb had thought to simply walk away and continue on his own business. Unfortunately for him, Maractus had a different idea.
Maractus thought that they couldn't possibly let a strange, wild human go, especially with a trainer that seemed to be so twisted that she not only catches Pokemon, but attempts to tame others of her own kind as well. Maractus couldn't rest, knowing that several Pokemon and humans were in such danger. She had to make sure they were stopped! But she couldn't do it on her own. She'd need the horned human's help. She was sure that he'd do it voluntarily, since he was kind enough to help her obtain that treat before.
The grass-type dragged Deneb and his somewhat flat, almost slightly frowning expression along, following the two possibly dangerous humans as best as they could while remaining hidden as well as possible. The closer their targets approached their destination, the more risk Maractus and Deneb had of getting discovered.
They had followed the two until they had come to a certain point. They had reached the Pokemon lab. Passing by the security guard was sure to gain attention from the targets, so Maractus had come up with a brilliant idea: to watch and listen to them from the windows on the side of the building! All they had to do was circle around until they either found an open window to sneak through, or a place where either of their targets were. It was the latter.
While Maractus hid to avoid detection, Deneb had decided to simply look through the window. His head was completely visible, although his looks still confused passersby as to his gender. He simply stared with an emotionless mask of a facial expression, at the girl on the phone in an attempt to get her attention so he could clear things up.
Today was actually going very well. She had Zed registered with her as her first Pokemon. Now she had two new friends Rylen and Ian. With there supplies bought and gathered it was now time to go our and explore the vast wilds of Fordis region. Discover new friends and Pokemon. Perhaps even see a few rare Pokemon. She would like nothing more then to see a Mew or even a Suicune.
Ian said the egg was going to have a Sneasal in it. She was even more excited in watching it hatch. Sneasals were so cute and very awesome in her mind. They could be deadly against Pokemon like Zed. Now it was time to leave the dangers of the concrete jungle and out into the more dangerous but at least peaceful wilds.... Well at least until they go past the park. Then it would be peaceful.
she kinda even looked forward to it actually. It would be fun and was hoping for all kinds of interesting Pokemon to meet. She wondered what Ian's goal was.
She followed them out and off the went heading towards the gat that would bring them out to Route 2.
Micky ran as fast as he could. The poliwag army didn't seem to want to give up. As he got closer to the two he noticed one getting ready to fight. Seeing the fire in the other guys eyes caused Micky to want to fight instead of running. He decided he would turn just as he passed the two in order to not interfere with what they were going to do. However, when he was just passing them he felt his foot hit something and he fell screaming, "NOT AGAIN!"
He quickly threw his hands over his head preparing for the onslaught from the poliwags, but it didn't come. He quickly got up and turned seeing the poliwags had turned their attention to the boy and the girl was off to the side. The two ghost Pokemon seemed to be fighting each other. Then he saw the other boy getting knocked down by the poliwags.
Micky quickly darted over and started attempting to swat away the poliwags but to no avail. Soon the poliwags started to beat down on both of the boys. Micky thought to himself, *Is this how it ends. Before it even begins. By a mass of poliwags alongside another person that I roped into this horrible fate. Sorry everyone it seems this is the end.* Then suddenly a bright flash of red came from the Pokeball he had put the poliwag he'd captured in.
The recently captured poliwag popped out of the ball and delivered one long water gun to a good amount of the poliwags then proceeded to speak, "Poliwag poli po. Poliwag POLIWAG." Then the mass of attacking poliwags turned to the other one and all in unison said, "POLIWAG!" This process went back and forth a few times and Micky just sat there speechless. What was happening? It seemed as if his poliwag was giving a prebattle speech. Whatever was being said seemed to be going well for the Poliwags. Then Micky's Poliwag turned to the two teens and said poliwag one last time. The horde then proceeded to look at the two, and then walked away as if the war was over.
"Uhh-What!" Micky was so confused. He had no idea what happened or why his poliwag was able to just get the others to leave. Maybe he had taken the poliwags leader and it'd convince them that fighting the humans was worthless---No that couldn't be it. Either way it was over. Micky slowly stood up already feeling sore over his whole body. Being wet from all the water guns didn't help either. He turned to the other guy "Sorry about all that. Thanks for the save though. Sorry you got attacked because of me. At least your girlfriend didn't get hurt." he said while having the biggest grin and extending his hand out to the boy not realizing how way off his statement was.
They were now in Route 2, after having left the mart. The Casteliacone stand that was near the gate earlier was now basically deserted, the owner of the place was visibly quite distraught, a "rough day" he says. There was quite a crowd here before if he remembers, but based on his reaction it wasn't a good day... Well whatever had happened, it was over now, and the three were out onto Route 2.
It was a popular place for families to go out to, plenty of Flying, Normal, and Bug Pokemon lay about here, not so much on the main road and main areas, but more in the detours, since this was such a popular area, a lot of Pokemon tend to avoid the main roads. Sure enough from the road you could see families already out here, and some kids playing with their Pokemon, there was a preschool too pretty close to the gate.
"Alright, we're gonna take this detour", he said, turning towards a small dirt road that led into a moderate thicket. It curved a bit too, and curved back towards the main road, but being the less beaten road...
"There might be some Pokemon back there, plus maybe a good spot for a picnic", he reasoned.
“Hello?” William spoke into the phone as Fantasia exhaled a sigh of relief. “Daddy it’s me! Pumpkaboo!” She cradled the phone with two hands, gently leaning her face relax into the phone. “I hope this doesn’t come as a shock to you but a thief stole that limited edition Pokedex you bought for me, and I need it back - could you please get your assistant to hire the best detective in Fordis for me?”
“I most certainly am not shocked - Professor Cedar told me all about it.” He sighed into the phone, clearly distressed in his tone of voice. “Apparently, you smashed an expensive Generation 27 in front of her assistant - which I have to pay for as well as you accusing her only son of stealing your Pokedex.”
“Daddy, I am so sorry!” Her voice became shaky, “I already made amends with her son, in fact he walked me over here so that I could call you - it is all water under the bridge now.”
“No, Fantasia it isn’t - and this is not the first time you've done something like this.” William’s voice became agitated and firm, “It is evident that you have taken our family's prestigious title and wealth for granted, using it to manipulate people for your own benefit - I am tired of cleaning up your messes Fantasia. I have a very important project that is requiring my funding, but a daughter that keeps soaking up my dollars like it grows on trees.”
“Wait, I said I was sorry!” She stammered, tears beginning to swell in her eyes. “Yes, you did - but you need to learn that saying sorry isn’t going to make things just go away, especially when it is insincere. Now, because I paid so much to have that Pokedex made for you I will be hiring Fordis best detective to retrieve it - but from this moment on you are cut off from my funds until you’ve learned to appreciate everything you’ve been given.”
“You’re kidding.” Fantasia felt her heart skip a beat, her eyes rolling back as if she were going to faint. “No, Pumpkaboo I am not - you’ll spend the rest of this month traveling like the other 99% of this world, perhaps then you won’t smash a Generation 27 to pieces when it is offered to you.”
“Ugh!” Fantasia slammed the phone back on the hook, hanging up the phone with a frustrated scream that shortly turned into hysterical crying. She held on tightly to her Budew whom still had it's same cheerful grin, the baby Pokemon was too young to understand the concept of sadness and pain, so it simply sat there making adorable coo sounds as Fantasia wept. This couldn’t be happening, her whole life she had gotten everything she wanted just by asking for it - how on earth would she manage to get things for herself. Just then, she looked over to see a boy with a Maractus staring at her which she was in no mood for.
“What in the world are you looking at!? Can I help you!?” She sobbed, wiping the smudged mascara from under her eyes away as she waited for a response from the odd boy.
"Oho, concerned for me? I can take care of myself darling, but thank you for the offer. Traveling alone would be rather dull, so I think I'll take you up on that offer." Lucy replied as she followed after Ray. Truthfully, she really would have disliked traveling alone, so she was grateful for his offer. Not that she was going to say such a thing, a lady had to have her secrets after all, heh. "Hm...not sure I have much I would like to buy myself, aside from some pokeballs maybe." Perhaps there was something there she could use, though - she wasn't entirely knowledgeable about such things.
She just knew what she wanted, at the moment, and that she would have to travel a bit to get to her goal.
"If we are going to be traveling together, try not to take to long, hmm? I would rather begin sooner than later. I would like to go to route Seven as soon as possible. I have something there I would like to do." She said as she walked into the pokemart. She didn't intend to by anything at the moment though, that didn't stop her from taking a look around, Purrloin traveling along behind her.
Lynette simply watched the scene unfold before her, amused as the boy tripped, fell, and ate mud. She even laughed cruelly as Alex was attacked and his 'Henry' fled from Khata. Amusing! Entertaining! She wanted to see more of this! She had no intention of helping here. She simply moved off to the side, her Yamask returning to her position on her head and waited for things to die down. She was safe enough as the Poliwag weren't focused on her and she had no intention of antagonizing them at the moment.
Unfortunately, her amusement was short lived. It seemed a poliwag that had been captured by the boy seemed to be their leader or something and managed to get the others to stand down. Ugh, how boring. The entertainment was over with before it started. Well, that was to be expected really. If he hadn't intervened, Alex likely would have tried to play hero again.
With that though, she had no reason to stay here. She had no desire to speak with them and intended to leave. At least, she was before that new kid said something so utterly absurd she stopped in her tracks, and started laughing loud enough to likely be heard across the entire sanctuary.
"Girlfriend?" The notion was entirely absurd. So entirely absurd and not something that would ever happened. "Please!" She managed to get out, as she wrapped her arms around her stomach, still laughing loudly. The laughing continued for at least a few minutes, before she was finally able to quiet her giggles.
"If anything, I want that idiot dead." She finally sputtered out, taking a few deep breaths to try and calm herself. She wasn't really one to lose her composure so easily, but the idea of her ever dating Alex was just too funny. "He's the type of person I absolutely loathe. So don't make the suggestion again or I'll have Khata steal your pokemon and release them. Understand?" Sighing, she shook her head, still wearing her smile.
"And since I have no desire to be around you two...I'll be leaving now." She twirled, and headed back towards the lab. "Try not to let the spooky ghosts get you, Alex. You know, unless I'm there. I would love to see your eventual demise for myself."
On the bright side, the girl noticed him. On the downside, whoever was on the other end of that phone call had made her emotionally unstable. She was sobbing and yelling at him as if she was a child whose favorite toy was yanked away from them. It was certainly not the best time to approach and interact with the lady, but she had already noticed and screeched at them, so Deneb would have to do something anyway. Much to Maractus' shock and disagreement, the desert boy opened the window some more, and climbed through. Maractus followed through, trying to protect the boy.
He walked up to the lady with the same expression on his face that he had for the last few hours. He looked up to her and pointed to Maractus.
"She thinks you're suspicious."
Maractus, confirming his words, dragged Deneb back to stand between them. Deneb let it happen, but shook his head when the pokemon got into a protective stance.
Ray frowned slightly as he walked along the sidewalk next to Lucy. Route 7? All this excitement and eagerness to train and he wasn't sure where we wanted to go, or who he wanted to catch. His plan after leaving home had consisted of staying dedicated to catching fighting-type Pokemon in spite of his family. So, who were the lucky Fighting Pokemon that would join his team? Could he find them on Route 7? Ray's head was spinning, he had neglected to think this far ahead, the limelight of the finding ones first partner had blinded him. Muay, who had been content with following Ray silently, looked up at his trainer. "Rio?" it called solemnly, sensing its trainers discontent. "Its all good Muay, just thinking." he mumbled, glancing down at Muay.
Pulling out his Pokedex, Ray decided his best choice was to use the Pokemon Database to search for his next teammate. With a few taps, Ray found himself with information on ever single fighting-type Pokemon know to man. Only a few managed to catch his eye. "Meditite." Ray murmured in awe. That was his next target, the Meditate Pokémon. Just what he needed to cover his bases when it came to Fighting-types weakness to Psychic-types, and meditation was an important part of many martial arts.
Tapping on the Meditite icon opened to a new page, which gave him just the information he needed, were to find them in the Fordis Region. "Route 5." Ray huffed, turned in the routes general direction. It would be meditating in the mountains. He couldn't waste this opportunity to catch one this early, the page had also sported a fighting water-type who was supposedly difficult to catch. If he wanted to become a champion, to be the best martial Pokemon trainer their was, he needed both of these Pokemon on his team. Unfortunately, he kinda had some unwanted baggage in the traveling department. Ray took a side longed glance at Lucy. How would he convince her to take Route 5 instead of 7 for a bit?
Walking into the Pokemart, Ray decided to discuss it later, and focus on buying all the items needed to fulfill his training regime. Unfortunately, the Pokemart was a dud. Ray walked along the ales, searching high and low for Fighting Type training items, or even better potions, but but there were outrageously priced. In the end, he settled for a Super Potion, just in case his first few attempts to catch Meditate failed, food that would last them a few days also was on his list.
Leaving the Pokemart, his purchases stuffed into his backpack Ray turned to Lucy. "Hey Lucy, he began, following the GPS on his Pokedex, that would lead him to his desired destination. "I was wondering if we could hit Route 5 for a few hours...or days?" he admitted grinning at Lucy. "There's a Pokemon I'm looking to catch there. Look, if you wanna hit Route 7, you can, we can separate and meet back later when we have accomplished our goals. Its all along the same path. How does that sound?." Ray blurted, formulating the idea on the spot. Having a girl around was all fine and dandy, but he wasn't sure of disposed she would be to his non stop training regime.
Ian followed Rylen and Hotaru, he really didn't have any reason not to have a picnic. In fact, it sounded pleasant. He knew he wasn't exactly one for conversation, but so far he was simply enjoying not being alone. Smiling blankly to himself, he pulled the egg out of his backpack again to inspect it. Just as he was about to put it back though, he noticed a hairline crack near the top. "...!" With a small exclamation, he pressed his face up against the glass of the incubator to inspect it. Sure enough, the crack was real and the egg was still moving pretty erratically.
"Soon." he muttered excitedly. It wouldn't be long before he'd really have his first Pokemon. Sure, he could have just attempted to catch a pidgey or something while they were walking, but aside from not having a Pokemon to weaken one, he couldn't bring himself to not have this Sneasel be his starting Pokemon.
With another strong wobble, the tiny crack spread slightly. "Yes!" Ian exclaimed, granted with his quiet voice it probably wasn't much louder than most people's regular speaking voices.
Hotaru walked alongside the two boys Rylen and Ian. Zed, The Gastly, was resting in her arms as she carried him along. As they left the city Estonia and through the park. The park was okay but one thing that bothered her as they were traveling even when they had make great progress of get the city a good deal behind them, there was not that many pokemon. A few pidgey and rattatta ran around but nothing to really excite her. She let out a sigh and looked down to Gastly. "No training for you here buddy, Not unless a staring contest is good training." She said. If lick wasn't considered a ghost type move she would be okay and she could battle these normal types and train him up a little, but sadly she was out of luck. Apparently she wasn't the only one who disliked the area as well.
They were to take a little detour from the road. Hopefully to find some pokemon to either train against or catch. Rylen also reasoned it would be good for a picnic as well. It was good enough for her. She was hoping to possibly catch a pokemon that would help her out until they got to the desert region where she could train Zed. She wondered if any psychic types could be caught on this detour or who knows maybe a poochyena. She could at least tire it out and then throw a pokeball at it.
She then heard Ian say something and she looked over to see what it was about. He was looking at his incubator again and she could see a crack. The egg was surely going to hatch soon and he would get a Sneasal. They were very good pokemon from what she knew.
As the group walked through the small thicket, and spotted Pokemon scampering around, Rylen was enjoying himself while it seemed Hotaru was looking out for something interesting. Ian seemed to be fixated on his egg, Rylen didn't quite notice the egg beginning to form cracks, as he was having a blast just seeing these Pokemon. He spotted a small group of Starly fly away, a few Pokemon seemed to be foraging until they noticed the group, before running, as they stepped through the small dirt path, slowly becoming grass, they saw a clearing.
It was just any normal clearing, but they could hear the cries of Pokemon from it. Rylen sped up a bit thinking it might be some Pokemon who were hurt, but he was only half right. A Rufflet. He pulled out the Pokedex he almost forgot he had, and scanned it.
"It stands up to massive opponents, not out of courage, but out of recklessness. But that is how it gets stronger."
Other info on the Pokedex suggests they're common in mountainous areas, and uncommon mostly anywhere else, sometimes in forests too. So this was also a rare opportunity. It seems this one went further away from home likely deeper in the forest in search of opponents.
"Sounds like my kind of guy", he commented. As he did, the Rufflet handily beat it's current opponent, a cowardly Staravia, before spotting the group of trainers. Both the Rufflet and Rylen's Larvitar locked eyes, before he stepped forward. Despite Larvitar being a little smaller, it seems to have recognized some strength in it...
"So it wants to fight huh? Alright, let's do it", he began, as Larvitar stepped into the clearing. This wouldn't be their first battle, he's had plenty of battles against other trainers who trained at the Dragon's Den, but he never won any of them. Why? Because he picked them, but they were all trainers with anywhere between 1-8 badges, so right now, the Rufflet was reminding him of home. He admired that trait, to stand against stronger opponents.
As Ray split off to do his shopping, Laira and Lucy decided to do a bit something more...mischievous. While Lucy wasn't exactly a bad person, she did want the best for her darling little pokemon, and she always had to make sure she was able to give them the best care whatsoever. And in this case, she could use a few more healing items. Two potions she took with her weren't going to carry her far. Thankfully, she also wasn't adverse to a little...something else. She let Laira jump onto the floor next to some super potions. One would have cost her at least seven hundred P, and she didn't exactly have extra money to be throwing around.
So she would let Laira handle that. A rogue pokemon would have an easier time of pilfering something anyways. In the meantime, she would do what any good pokemon trainer would do, and buy some regular potions. Two, to be exact. It was easy enough to pay for them, and was done without much suspicion. She stuffed the two of them into her backpack, and exited the pokemart along with Ray. Purrloin didn't seem to be anywhere at the moment, and was likely waiting for a bit before returning with the stolen item.
"Route five, hm?" Lucy replied with a hum. "Not exactly an ideal locale for having a bit of fun." She sounded a bit bored at the prospect, even. That said, it was along the way, and Laira needed to be trained a bit certainly. However, route five was also a fair distance away. Laira might already be a fairly strong level by then. She also wasn't exactly one to wait a whole long to get something she wanted.
Seemed the cons were outweighing the pros at the moment.
"We'll have to see darling, but I'm not really one to spend time in a place I have no care for." She gave him a small smile, getting close to Ray and giving him a soft pat on his cheek. "Of course, maybe if you make it fun for me, I might have reason to stick around." And with a turn, and a wink she set off at a brisk pace towards Route 2. She didn't say yes or no, but since they were headed in the same general direction for the moment, it seemed they were going to be traveling together. And soon enough, they left the city behind just as Laira showed herself, meowing and looking up at Lucy from the ground - in its claws a Super potion. She looked fairly pleased with the outcome of events.
She smiled at the cat, picking it and the super potion up. She hoped Ray either didn't care, or didn't notice. Otherwise, things might get a little troublesome. Of course, she'd simply walk off on her own if he did. Either way, it swiftly found its way into her pocket.
Ian tried to split his attention between Rylen's imminent battle and his egg hatching. He didn't know how long this hatching was supposed to take, but he knew it was time. He quickly found a good place in the grass to sit down and watch his egg hatch. Ian now watched with rapt attention as with every shake another crack appeared or widened. He had always thought it was supposed to only take seconds, but this Sneasel seemed to be taking its time.
Finally the egg burst open with a flash of light so bright that Ian had to shield his eyes. Once he opened them again there was a Sneasel standing on top of the incubator with bits of blue egg shell scattered around. The Sneasel looked him right in the eyes before yawning and approaching him. Given the smaller feather on its head, it was clearly a female.
"Hello." Ian said cautiously as he crouched down in front of the blue Pokemon. She sniffed his hand for a moment before seemingly recognizing the scent. She pointed her claw at his face and he got closer to see what she wanted...and immediately regretted it. Sneasel pinched his nose, hard, for a few seconds before releasing it and snickering to itself. Ian rubbed his sore nose gingerly and reached out to pet the amused Pokemon. She accepted the rub on the head and even leaned into it slightly. Ian retrieved a Pokeball and caught Sneasel while he pet her. After the ball rocked three times it stopped. Ian nodded to the ball and let Sneasel back out.
Ray frowned as he watched Lucy rush off towards Route 2. "What?" he mumbled confusedly as he watched her curved form move farther and farther away. That whole interaction was lost to Ray. She hadn't given him an answer, at all. One second she was leaving the store, in another she was palming his cheek and leaving. What did she mean by making it fun for her? Ray scratched the back of his head and glanced at Muay, who seemed agitated. Concerned Ray took to caring for him.
"Whats wrong Muay?" he cooed, kneeling down next his Riolu. "Ri-rio!" he barked angrily, pointing at Lucy's retreating form. Ray confused, turned to Lucy, and looked back down at Muay. What did he want? "You want me to catch up? Come on Muay whats going on?!" He prodded, searching for a answer. Muay, having enough of his trainers lack of understanding, simply yanked at Ray's back. Frowning, Ray relented, giving his partner his travel pack. After a few seconds of fumbling with it, Muay reveled an empty potion pouch, well nearly empty. Only 5 potions remained, but Ray originally had 6. His Super Potion was gone.
"Bullshit..." he murmured smashing his fist into the sidewalk. He just bought the thing, who could have taken it? Muay, sensing his anger, pointed at Lucy, who was nearly out of sight. Ray quickly made the connection, Purrlion. It wasn't named to Devious Pokemon for nothing, as his Pokedex brought out.
Taking his pack, Ray started after Lucy, Muay following close behind, concerned for its trainer."Don't worry Muay, we'll get her back soon enough." he mumbled menacingly. "Rio!" Muay barked, just as determined as Ray was.
He was quick to catch up to Lucy, running nonstop to catch up as she shoved an object into her pocket. Ray narrowed his eyes, but chose not to confront her about it. In fact, he ignored her all together and ran past her, they were going in the same direction after all. While they ran through Route 2, Ray slowly came to find out why the route was called the Nature Park. Dozens of children milled about, mostly unsupervised. Ray was even surprised to see a battle going on in the distance, and he was pretty sure a trainers egg just hatched.
Despite the parks perpetual beauty, Ray chose to run past it all, he wanted to get to Route 5 as fast as he could. Unfortunately, a chime from his Pokedex stopped him in his tracks. Near the edge of Route 2, stood a vast expanse of sand. The Route 3 desert. Sweaty and tired, Ray took a seat on the soft grass, Muay collapsing next to him, enjoying the opportunity for rest.
Ray needed to reroute his trip to Route 5, it seemed that he didn't have necessary supplies to survive the suffocating of the desert, and it seemed Route 4 and 5 was just that. "Looks like were gonna have to make a stop in a Dune Town, Muay." he huffed, turned to his partner. "Lets take a quick break, the training will resume. Our endurance training." he declared, throwing his fist into the air before collapsing on his back and throwing his Pokedex into his pack.

Hotaru followed behind Rylen when she noticed he had stopped. What she took note of was that a battle was about to start. Rylen's Larvitar and a wild Rufflet. She watched as it was about to start and then a flash if light off to the side git her attention. When the light died she looked to see what had happened. Ian's egg had hatched and in its place was a Sneasal. She took this moment to yank out her camera and take a picture. She took it right when it pinched his nose. She then looked at the photo and smiled.
Even though Rylen was about to do a battle this took most of her attention. Rufflet wasn't even in her interests, but Sneasal being a dark type was. She moved over to Ian and put her back pack down. She then leaned in and showed him the picture on the tiny led screen.
"Nothing like a little cute moment to begin a great relationship huh Ian?"She said. She remembered her own first meeting with Zed and she tapped a little on the ghost pokemons head. "Remember our first meeting Zed? Zed here thought it would be cute if he licked my face. Now you know how some Pokemon have a paralyzing effect when licked? Gastly is one of them so that was a fun way of saying hello."
As she finished up she heard rummaging and looked behind her to see the dark fur of a rather large dog. The Pokemon had a orange tummy and several bone like rings around its leg going through her stuff. Her reaction was handing her camera to Ian and kicking at her back pack. The dog Houndour growled at her and then parked. She let go of Zed and her first Pokemon battle was to begin. At least that was what she thought. It reached down and grabbed the backpack and began to run off. Zed and Hotaru took chase. She wasn't going to let her lunch and part of Rylen's for that matter get taken.
The chase continued until final Zed moved past it and surprised it by coming out of the ground. You know ghost stuff. The Houndour yiped for a second as it was startled. Thus didn't set well with its pride. Zed sticking its tongue at it and laughing didn't help. She arrived to see the real battle about to begin.
Little to the wild houndour's knowledge Zed was moving into position, dodging a few swiped from the Pokemon. Zed positioned himself in front of a good solid tree. The dog Pokemon thought it had cornered Zed and jumped at him only to flow through the ghost Pokemon as it faded out. Normal moves like tackle were not very effective against ghost types.
Houndour's head hit the tree and hit it hard. What followed next was Zed's own move. It's eyes widened as it cast upon the wild Pokemon the effects of drowsiness and eventually sleep.
Hotaru nodded and pulled out a pokeball. Next was all too normal as she threw it....
"It may be a wild Rufflet... But that doesn't mean we should take it lightly. Larvitar, Sandstorm, and then Leer", as Larvitar began to call up a sandstorm, the Rufflet would find that the Larvitar became a silhouette in the sand storm, and just moments after there would be a distinct glint as the Rufflet would suffer a Leer. It immediately retaliated with a Peck, charging through the sand before following with a Fury Attack. The barrage was characteristic of the Rufflet, but there was a reason Rylen chose Sandstorm first. The Rufflet would find it's Fury Attack interrupted, stopping it from linking the Peck and Fury Attack, and within that moment...
"Now Bite!", like a predator the small Larvitar would strike straight at the neck, and hold it there, the Rufflet howled as Rylen pulled out a Pokeball. The moment it would break free from sheer force, Larvitar was already on it. The Rufflet in desperation charged with a wing outstretched, for a moment it seemed it would use Wing Attack, but to no avail the sandstorm would break it's concentration as at the end of it's charge it would find itself hit with a Pokeball.
Only the sound of the sandstorm was heard as Rylen watched the Pokeball carefully... One... Two... And it was caught. Larvitar did a small dance, as Rylen cheered as the sandstorm subsided. He stepped over to retrieve his new party member.
He turned around about to celebrate,
"Aw yeah! Did you guys see that?! Totally owned that- Huh?... Hey Ian, where'd Hotaru go? And where did you get that Sneasel?", he asked, holding the caught Rufflet in his hand as Larvitar stepped up to meet the Sneasel.
