She kept yapping. Azerus's brows furrowed slightly, foreseeing her smug grin and boastful berating at the end of the battle. As if it wasn't bad enough now, he cringed at the thought. Still, silence was his retaliation. Despite her attitude her thoughts reflected his own on some sort of level. He too found disdain in owning the little pathetic Roggenrola. He stared at it as it just stood there. Blank. No facial expression. Maybe he could throw it.

Either way it was about to get a hard lesson in battle. Type advantage fell to his opponent Cacnea. On top of that the duo they faced were a stronger team, better bonded. This was clear to see.
Before the Cacnea had fully launched the attack Azerus yelled his own reply. Prepare for it, Iron defence with everything you got! (4/6ep)

The energy ball hit perfectly and exploded on Roggenrola, throwing up a cloud of dust. The Roggenrola was thrown back and came scattering out of the dust cloud, grinding across the dirt floor, stopping just before Azerus's feet.

"Hang in there, that was a tough attack." There was a small appreciative / slightly proud nod. "Now your turn, headbutt!" he yells with a fire growing in his belly. Despite backing his words with an eager enthusiasm that seemingly ran through the Roggenrola, Azerus prepared his next pokeball.

Roggenrola leapt back through the fading dust cloud, launching himself with everything the little rock Pokemon had left, head first at his opponent. (2/2ep)

Vivian launches herself at Leisy, giving her a big relieved hug. It looks as though she had nearly been crying with worry.
"Where's Ella?" She asks her new friend as she pauses the gleeful bombardment. Vivian's tone and face flash with a brief moments pain and frustration."My mothers garden has just been attacked by poachers, it's all a terrible mess, and her favourite Pokemon is gone too!" Vivian explains to Leisy full of serious worry.

"We need to go right away, we might still be able to catch up with the people who don't this!" Viv's water-bound eyes stare deeply at her new friend as she almost begs her."Will you help me try?"

Juana Perez

-Central City - Organization HQ-

Bounsweet waggled its calyx, a little sensitive since it's in Bounsweet nature to fear larger Pokémon. Of course those wild instincts have been dulled by Juana's protection, but the vestiges were still there.

"Rides? That's neat! I've heard that Skiddo run exceptionally quickly," Juana remarked, emphasizing how quickly Skiddo ran with an "OK" gesture. "Your grandparents sound pretty cool. The only Pokémon I really lived around, besides whatever Patrats or Yungooses crawled around for scraps of leftover confectionery, were my parents' Raticate and Slurpuff. Actually, the family Raticate's an Alolan variant, and it really helps keep the quality of the candies my family makes high. Meanwhile, our Slurpuff's sense of smell helps us find the best-quality materials to do what we do best. Also, he's a real friendly one; when I'd come home he'd lick me until I was covered in powdered sugar and meringue!" Juana laughed.

Bounsweet thumped Juana's leg.

"Oh, of course, and there's you, pequeña," Juana said, picking up Bounsweet and hugging it. "She was my favorite visitor, of course. I had to keep the bird Pokémon from pecking her away!"

Juana turned back to Tora. "Anyways, my parents and I felt that a cooped-up classroom environment wasn't good for a kid like me who likes to wander and explore. So I'm gonna learn about the world on a Pokémon journey instead! Oh, here we are."

Indeed, they reached the Organization HQ. Juana tapped her index finger upon being asked which Organization she would like to join.

"Well, I did say I was leaning Helping Hand. We Trainers gotta have each others backs, right?" Juana said, before striding into the building. "C'mon, Tora!" she called.

Juana walked in, and made a beeline for the receptionist. "Hello; welcome to the Pokémon Organization Central City headquarters. Are you interested in joining an organization?"

"You bet I am," Juana replied, leaning on the counter and kicking one leg crossed over the other in a suave fashion. Bounsweet chirped in assent.

"Alright, can I have your name, please?"

"Juana Perez," Juana replied, flourishing her last name.

"Perez, huh? Aren't you the daughter of the local candymakers?" the receptionist asked.

"Yeah, that's right."

The receptionist nodded and wrote Juana's name down. "Can I have your birth date?"

Juana divulged that information as well.

"And what organization will you be joining today?" the receptionist continued.

"Helping Hand Guild, if you will," Juana replied.

"Helping Hand, huh? There are a lot of Trainers in that Organization," the receptionist remarked.

"Great! I love people!"

"Now I just need to have a look at your Pokédex..." the receptionist said.

"Okie-dokie," Juana said, whipping out her device and placing it gingerly on the counter. The receptionist pulled up a complex-looking QR code on her computer screen, and edited a setting on Juana's Pokédex. She used the camera on the dex to photograph the QR code; it registered with a satisfying BEEP.

"Alright, you should be all set! Welcome to the Helping Hand Guild," the receptionist said, giving the Pokédex back to Juana.

"Gracias," Juana thanked, pocketing the Dex. She pumped her fist. "Alright, Bounsweet, we're on our steps to getting to know just what this region has to offer, eh?"

Bounsweet squeaked in happy agreement.

Juana strode back over to Tora. "'Kay, amiga, it's your turn," Juana said, making an exaggerated bow and gesturing towards the receptionist.

The Benevolent Beauty Turned Boisterous Bruiser
versus
Rebellion's Turbulent, Reserved Tempest

Gespenst's raging Energy Ball struck home, but instead of an explosion of natural power it splashed off his foe's exterior. As her Pokemon picked himself up to return to a ready position, Olivie clasped her hands behind her head again and regarded the Roggenrola's metallic exterior with a degree of respect. So, it wasn't a complete pushover. Anything that could turn itself into a living hunk of metal might very well spell trouble for a combatant who relied on plants to attack. Her worries proved ill-founded, however. When she looked again, the steely sheen had disappeared from the rock's body, leaving it no worse for wear physically but definitely a touch more worn out. At least, Olive guessed so, based on its movement. Not much could be gleaned by staring at the stolid creature's countenance. His Pokemon having overcome the attack, Azerus commanded his Roggenrola to take the offensive. At its trainer's voice, the stony beast's spirits seemingly flared once more, and with surprising speed it moved to smash Gespenst's head with its own.

”Now's your chance! Take this hit and then return the favor with Needle Arm!” Olivie smiled wildly and raised a fist as she forbid her partner to defend himself. Without protest or movement of any kind, Gespenst unflinchingly received the Roggenrola's headbutt. The blow caused him to stagger backward, gurgling in dismay at the unexpected pain, but before he stumbled out of range the Cacnea's expression hardened. With a noise like an axe burying its head in wood, his arm spikes doubled in length. A guttural snarl rang out as he swung both arms down in an overhead slam, seeking to put his opponent out of commission with all the strength he had left (6/6 EP). He was, by all accounts, terrible about budgeting his energy.

Azerus gasped slightly at the brutality of that last attack but didn't waste anytime. As soon as Roggenrola hit the floor in a flash he replaced him. With a thud and a small roar a ryhorn came into battle. Azerus didn't even take a moment to savour or notice his opponents expression. Ryhorn was much larger than his Roggenrola but this was the first time Azerus had seen it as its trainer.

Charge! He quickly yells at the giant grey stationary bulldozer. This the Ryhorn understood, it didn't react with the speed Azerus had hoped for, but after scratching at the ground and a heavy snort, the ryhorn lowered its head and charged. (3/3ep)

Without realising, Azerus found his hands were tight fists and his teeth were grinding against one another in anticipation.
So this was a Pokemon battle.

Tora Azure

- Central City || Organizations HQ's-

Tora listened to Juana's words, chuckling and nodding in agreement at the mention of Skiddo being fast before smiling as she listened about these Pokemon the green haired girl grew up with. "They sound quite the lovely Pokemon. Sounds like you are quite fortunate to have known them." she responded before watching Juana come to a decision. It would seem they would be joining the same Organization, as the younger girl energetically spoke her decision before heading off inside the building, calling for the tall woman to follow.

Chuckling in amusement, the black haired woman followed inside, taking a moment to take a look around while her new aquiantance signed up. The young lady seemed to have a abundant of energy that was enough for the both of them. Looking toward Archie as the Growlithe bounded circles around the Bounsweet energetically and playfully, Tora sighed and shook her head but smiled all the same.

"Try to be gentle Archie. Bounsweet don't do quite as well with rough play compared to a Growlithe." Tora warned gently, only earning a look of 'I knooooow' from her Pokemon.

When Juana returned to notify it was her turn in a exaggerated how and motion to the receptionist, Tora's lips twitched at a amused smile and almost laugh before performing a slightly more playful yet still graceful curtsy motion in return.

"Why thank you." she said before walking up to the receptionist. "I would like to join The Helping Hand Guild, please." she said politely with a kind smile.

"Of course. What is your name?" The receptionist asked.

"Awe, my name is Tora." Tora answered.

Pausing the receptionist looked up from the computer. "And your Last name?" She pressed.

For a moment, Tora glanced away, shuffling in place before taking a deep breath. "Azure... Tora Azure.." she responded, a bit more quietly.

"Azure? Isn't that the name..." The receptionist started before Tora quickly cut her off with a ever so polite smile.

"Awe you need my birthdate right? And my pokedex?" the black haired trainer said before divulging that information then pulling out her pokedex and handing it to the receptionist.

Blinking in mild surprise, but managing to get distracted at the task at hand, the receptionist inputed the information and repeated the process with the pokedex similarly to Juana's turn. At the BEEP the receptionist handed the pokedex back with a smile. "All set up! Welcome to The Helping Hand Guild!" She said cheerfully.

"You have my sincere gratitude mademoiselle." Tora said with a smile as she gave a brief how before walking back to stand with Juana. "Looks like we are now both members of The Helping Hand Guild. Would you like to walk together to the Pokemart to pick up some supplies?" Tora questioned curiously.

Juana couldn't help but notice a hint discomfort in Tora as she applied for the guild. It was probably a deeply personal matter, and Juana didn't want to pry. Especially since, despite how friendly they've been so far, they just met. Juana just wasn't sure how to proceed in that direction yet.

"You finished? Sweet. Let's head over to the Poké Mart, then!" Juana said, clapping her hands together and rubbing them. She got up, and together they started walking towards the Poké Mart.

Juana was quite glad she didn't have to deal again with the embarrassment of traipsing into a store without points to spend.

"So. Favorite Pokémon type. Go," Juana said, pointing double finger guns at Tora. She liked to talk, and she liked to hear other people talk. Even if it was just about little things, like Pokémon types, or the weather, or what she had for lunch yesterday. (That last one weirds people out.)

"What did I tell you?" her mother snapped as a wave of laughter rose up from the crowd. "You knew you weren't cut out for this! You knew you'd just wind up embarrassing yourself!"

Both her sisters snickered at her. Ella glanced this way and that. All she wanted to do was get out of here, away from the many pairs of eyes focused on her, away from people's judgement. Why had she thought this was a good idea?

Ella woke with a start. Staring up at the top bunk, she breathed a sigh of relief. Just a dream.

She only managed to relax for a moment before sitting upright at the sound of a frantic voice calling her name. Vivian, upset about something. "Vee-Vee!" Ella was out of bed in a second, hurriedly pulling on her clothes, grabbing her bag and rushing from the room.

She nearly crashed right into Vivian, who was tearfully explaining something to Leisy. "Vee-Vee! What's wrong?" she asked her friend, her eyes wide with worry.

Tora smiled at the energetic girl as she eagerly headed off towards the Pokemart, the tall black haired woman soon following and walking in step with her current traveling companion through this city. Besides Archie of course who obediently followed long, though looked about the city curiously. Juana started a conversation with simple common question, but one that was in general interesting in getting to know someone. They say a person's favorite type of Pokemon sort of related to the kind of person the trainer was. The tall woman's calm kind expression slightly twisted in a 'hmm' expression as she thought on the subject.

"Generally, I like all Pokemon but if I had to choose, it would probably be water or fire... probably a Fire Type since ever since I was young, I would have a Fire Pokemon keep me warm at night if I got too cold. So I suppose I've always had a bit more partial enjoyment for them." Tora answered, earning a agreeing bark from Archie, whom puffed out her furry chest as if to say 'Yeah! Fire Type's are awesome!' before trotting up beside Tora and brushing her warm orange fur against her trainer's legs.

Tora chuckled, leaning down and stroking the top of the Growlithe's head before continuing on and looking at Juana. "What about you?" she asked curiously.

Juana Perez

-Central City, Poké Mart-

"Well, I don't really have a favorite type. If I said Grass-type, Bounsweet would accuse me of sycophancy," Juana said. Bounsweet snorted.

"In all seriousness, if I have to pick, I'll say I do like Fairy types and Grass types, since I've been surrounded by their aroma for most of my life and I quite enjoy that," Juana continued. "That being said I like all types of Pokémon. I kinda pity Dark-types though. They kind of get a bad rap since a lot of them tend to be kind of scary-looking."

The doors to the Poké Mart slid open. "Oh, gosh, there's a lot to buy here. Let's see... I came in to grab another Poké Ball... What else might I like to get?" Juana wondered, absently pacing in front of the shelves. She picked up a Poké Ball and perused the other merchandise. "Hmm... Rare Candy... Potion.... What's so 'rare' about a Rare Candy, anyway?" Juana said, picking up the singularly-wrapped blue hard-candy. It seemed to glow a bit. "Reshiram's flaming butt, is it radioactive?" she joked, holding it out to Bounsweet for the Pokémon to have a look. Bounsweet seemed mesmerized by the candy.

There were some air fresheners that were shaped like a black-and-green Water/Bug-type Pokémon--Dewpider--lined up in the counter, as well as Clefairy and Azurill themed dolls; these were trinkets labeled a dollar and, in Juana's opinion, sort of a waste of carrying capacity.

She did attempt to be cheeky and photograph the Pokémon paraphernalia to register Dewpider, Clefairy, and Azurill as "seen." (It didn't work.)

Juana placed the Poké Ball and the Rare Candy on the counter and smiled at the brown-haired man in the apron working at the counter. "Hi," she said. "One of each, please?"

"OK, may I see your Pokédex?" the storeclerk asked.

Juana gladly presented her Dex. The storeclerk scanned it, and a jingle played, indicating that the transaction had completed. "Thank you. Would you like a bag for that?" the storeclerk asked.

"Nah," Juana replied, taking the items and putting them into her tool belt.

"Okay, have a good day," the storeclerk said.

"You too."

Vivian explains the situation again to both her friends. Speaking fast and nervously. "I think they must be responsible for those traps we found!" She adds, anger now seeping into her voice as she dwells on these poachers misdeeds.
"Follow me, let's go right away!"

( Vivian urgently leads her friends to her families flower garden.)

The once beautiful serene garden was now a scene of unrest. Streaks of flattened flowers cut through the once colourful patches. Upturned plants and dug up dirt were an eyesore, signs of violence and struggle in a place made for peace and relaxation.
Viv ran to her parents. Her mother's cheeks were still wet from the tears, her fathers red from all his anger. His arm was in a make shift sling and he had tears in his shirt that matched the long red streaks beneath it across his skin.
Viv was speechless in her embrace leaving the questions and investigation to her friends.

Tora Azure

- Central City || Pokemart -

Listening to Juana's response, Tora smiled a bit and nodded in agreement. "You are right. Seems people quite dislike Dark and Ghost Pokemon because they are considered scary. But I've met some really nice ones at the farm from traveling trainers. Mhmm makes me a little excited to meet one that may become my friend one day on this journey." she said, thinking about the different kinds of Pokemon. Absol was a pretty cool Dark Type. Hydreigon also would be pretty fun to accompany with. Though, they are usually pretty violent.

When they arrived at the Pokemart, Tora browsed along with Juana, looking at potions, rare candies, and pokeballs. Glancing at the Battle Amulet, Tora tipped her head. It was too bad she didn't have enough for one, perhaps she would have to return to Central City someday whenever she had enough Trainer Points. For now, take baby steps. She didn't have too much to buy with, so perhaps she would just have to stick with one pokeball. Breaking out of her thoughts as Juana commented on the Rare Candy, Tora chuckled. "Who knows? It's always a mystery what exactly they put in those that is able to raise a Pokemon's strength." she commented before humming as Juana finished. Tora was still thinking, she almost had enough for at least two of the cheapest items.

Taking out her Pokedex, she looked through it thoughtfully before looking to Archie who sat beside her feet, giving a slight yawn of boredom. A brief thought ran through the tall woman's mind of asking Juana for a battle. It help their Pokemon get a little stronger and earn some Trainer Points for the battle, but it soon dismissed in her mind. Though it would be a friendly battle, it was a battle. Bounsweet could get quite hurt by Archie due to the type disadvantage the Grass Pokemon had. Tora of course, didn't really want the cute little Pokemon to get hurt.

So Tora stood there pondering between items before glancing at Juana. "So, Lady Juana, where are you planning on heading out first?" she asked curiously.

Juana shrugged. "Pro'lly Feyhollow. I took a peek at the map in the Center and Feyhollow seems a lot closer than Ironforge. And I'm not sure how well I'll fare in the mountains," Juana replied. "Definitely want to hit Ironforge sometime though. I like its steampunk motif."

Juana raised her arms and stretched. "I might want to stop by the river to catch another Pokémon, though. There's one I've had my sights on for a bit."

Juana thought back to the Pokémon Bounsweet had battled at the river. The Corphish. Though she thought it'd be nice to catch a Yungoos, there was something about the way Bounsweet interacted with that crayfish that was quite interesting. Who knows? Maybe they'd push each other to be better.

Also, pincers are cool.

"You wanna follow, or you wanna meet somewhere, or what?" Juana asked Tora. "Ah, that is if you'd like to keep traveling with me?" She shifted her foot and dug her hands into her pockets. "Hey, maybe you'll end up catching another Pokémon as well! You did say you also liked Water Pokémon, didn't you? Bet there's a lot of 'em swimming around. Like a Buizel. Or, or a Dewpider!"

The Benevolent Beauty Turned Boisterous Bruiser
versus
Rebellion's Turbulent, Reserved Tempest

Down for the count! Chipped, battered, and beaten, the Roggenrola sagged to the ground before disappearing in a flash of light. Olivie and Gespenst shared a moment of elation, but rather than belt out another taunt at her opponent, the brunette took the opportunity to tell her Cacnea, “Don't celebrate just yet. Face down what's coming with nerves of steel.” A hint of resignation traveled through her voice. After all, despite his triumph, the grass-type was totally pooped. When Azerus' second Pokemon came in, he wouldn't be able to defend himself or to give a last-ditch attempt to take it down; he could only accept a knockout blow with a grim, stolid countenance.

The foregone conclusion came about even quicker than Olivie anticipated. Scarcely had the Roggenrola toppled over before its trainer replaced it, and unlike the ponytailed pebble that preceded it, the anarchist's Rhyhorn was huge. A flicker of disbelief passed over the brunette's face when she saw it appear and shake the ground as it landed. With an exterior of solid-looking rock plates, it seemed for all the world like a knight in stony armor, or a living fortress. It dwarfed Gespenst, and when it charged, there could be no course of action to be run down. Azerus' Rhyhorn trampled Olivie's Pokemon into the dust. It cleared a moment later thanks to the cheery Feyhollow breeze, but Gespenst looked just like a pumpkin that someone sat on. Suppressing her anger, Olivie retrieved him. ”You fought with nothing held back—your entire soul in the fight, and I'm proud.” She reached down and grabbed Verrine by the horn, causing her to freeze in surprise, before tossing the Karrablast forward. As indignant as she was after landing, Verrine realized that she'd been chosen to fight. As a cat staring at a mouse-hole, the bug-type stood still, watching her opponent calmly and critically.

Instead of immediately issuing an order, Olivie took a second to observe the opposition. As resolute as Azerus seemed, there was definitely something wrong with his Rhyhorn. Narrowing her eyes, the girl decided that, somehow, the big goon had already worn himself out. The revelation made her want to laugh. ”Well, that makes things simple. Verrine, take it down.” Her Karrablast, receiving no specific command, fell back on her instincts. Not dissimilar to the Rhyhorn, she lowered her head and began a charge of her own. Her horn became suffused with light green vapor, shaking violently until it exploded outward, doubling in size as it turned into a deadly prong. Megahorn extended, Verrine hopped into the air and began to spin like a drill straight for the Rhyhorn as she fell (3/6 EP).

Tora nodded absently as she thought about it. Indeed, Feyhollow seemed like the closest destination from here so it seemed like a good place to start. Plus, she has heard that it is quite beautiful there. Definitely worth a visit. Tora also couldn't help but agree that maybe she herself wouldn't fare well in the mountains. But she has heard that there are several wonderful Pokemon there and the mountain view is quite pretty. She'd like to paint it... though she was unsure if she could make that sort of trip. But! If she wanted to be successful on this journey, she'd have to be determined and not give up! So eventually, she'd try trekking the mountain. Hopefully, she won't freeze to death.

At the question, Tora blinked, slightly shifting in place. "Ah.... Well if you don't mind my company, I'd like to continue traveling with you. You're pretty fun. Just let me buy some Pokeballs." she said turning the cashier and handing him her Pokedex as she picked up two pokeballs. "Two Pokeballs please." she spoke to the cashier.

"Sure thing. You want a bag?" He asked.

"No thank you." Tora answered, attaching the pokeballs to her left backpack strap. "Have a wonderful day kind sir." she said as she retrieved her Pokedex before returning to Juana and walking head, striding along with a bright smile. "Well then, lets see if we can make another friend shall we?" she said cheerfully. A water Pokemon... wonder if she'd be able to catch one.

Azerus Jr

"Dodge it!" Azerus yelled with a hint of desperation infiltrating his voice. But his ryhorn didn't move. Puffed and exhausted it just looked up at the oncoming attack and tried to brace itself, relying on its thick stoney hide.

And just like that the battle was over. Rhyhorn lay collapsed on the floor, defeated, a giant pile of heavy stone. Unlike before Azerus did not rush to return his Pokemon to its pokeball, instead allowing his ryhorn to stay present and dwell in its defeat. Despite just losing the battle Azerus's lips curl into an innocent smile. Showing none of the signs of disappointment or disbelief that one would expect to see from such a crushing defeat, smug grin still in place, Azererus lets out a soft impatient sigh and awaited his opponents obnoxious berating.

Once again he casually flicks away some hair from his face as he looked up from the Pokemon. You did well. He said softly, a slight simmer of condescension slithered into his tone, but he was not speaking to his Pokemon. For the first time his eyes finally met hers, if only for a brief moment. A taunting devilish grin takes his face. Truthfully his defeat pained him more than he expected or cared to admit. And for that there was a slight malice with intent to stir.
As he turns to walk-away, he stops to to get in his final say.
"For what it's worth I'm glad I made you angry.
You're even cuter when you get all worked up."

With that he lets out a soft chuckle having amused himself and zaps his ryhorn back into its pokeball before turning his back and casually walking away.

'Damn town only having one poke'center' he thought to himself as he headed there. Hopefully she wasn't going straight there too. Azerus put a slight rush in his step to try avoid such things.

In one move, the contest was decided. Verrine's Megahorn landed with full force, sending chips of rock flying. For a moment it seemed as if her attack, despite its size and the amount of energy put into it, wouldn't be able to topple Azerus' huge Rhyhorn, but Olivie held out hope. Her faith was rewarded as the groaned and slumped down, motes of dust flying into the air as its stubby legs rubbed across the ground before going still. She didn't wait for her opponent to withdraw his Pokemon, instead saying in an uncharacteristically low voice, ”Done aaaand done. Verrine, c'mere.” Dutifully the bug-type obeyed, shaking off the fractured remnants of her enlarged horn as she did. Its pieces fell away to reveal her natural horn beneath, with a surface marred but soon to heal. Olivie scooped her Pokemon up and swaddled her in a bear hug tight enough to make the Karrablast squirm. Her eyes closed and her mouth in a dazzling smile, Olivie told her, ”That was badass! And That's two knockouts in less than an hour. I knew I made the right choice.” The girl relinquished her hold and placed her friend on the ground, where Buck rushed up to give a chatter of congratulation. Olivie, meanwhile, turned her attention to the defeated.

They met eyes for the first time, and at last Olivie felt gratified. Here, she thought, was a tangible result of her new outlook on the world. Before she walloped this dude, he'd been more focused on her funbags than on her fighting prowess, but now he afforded her at least a little respect. If all my fights go this well, I'll be on the road to tons of people respecting me before long. Whilst thinking this she wore a smirk the whole time, but that expression tightened when Azerus, of all things, gave her a mischievous smile. He turned to leave, but as he did, he delivered a parting shot that made Olivies blood boil.

Balling her fists, she raised them and shouted after him, eyes scrunched closed, ”What!? No! I'm not cute! I'm a terrifyin' thug! I've broken boards by punchin' them! I fought three girls at once one time and whooped 'em all! You hear me!? I'll kick your ass!”

Her tirade ended abruptly as Verrine poked her leg with her horn. Olivie's eyes shot open and she realized she was blustering at nobody—Azerus had gone. A grating noise sounded out as she gnashed her teeth in frustration. ”The nerve! Not even that bozo Bernard called me cute! Uh, I mean, Barnie.” She looked down. On one side stood Buck, and on the other, with eyes wide and wondering, was Verrine, but she couldn't see her own feet at all. Olivie's expression melted into a convolution of grimace and pout. ”Cute's for little girls and pathetic stuff like squirrels and kittens, anyway. If anything, I'm 'seductive', right?” She glanced at her Pokemon, but their expressions indicated nothing but bafflement. Tossing her hair in subdued anger, she remembered that Gespenst still needed healing and started to walk. ”Huh...maybe it ain't the right word. Whatever. Soon enough, people are gonna be thinkin' about how strong I fight, not how I look.” With her Pokemon following on her heels, she approached the Pokemon Center's main door.

Leisy Takigawa

— Feyhollow Town —

“Oh my god,” Leisy said, eyes wide in alarm. “That’s terrible!” Such a situation had never happened in the hub that was the area around Leisy’s parents’ house in Central City.

That the Pokemon themselves had been kidnapped was distressing in itself. There were few ways people could kidnap Pokemon, and none of them incited pleasant thoughts.

Leisy tensed up when footsteps sounded behind her, spinning around to spot Ella charging over with wide eyes. Calm down, Leisy, she said, internally smacking herself. It’s not the end of the world yet, and I need you to focus right now.

Keeping up with her friend’s fast pace, Leisy followed Vivian out the Pokemon Center and toward a different part of the town with quaint houses splattered with colorful patches of flora that seemed to stake their claim on everything.

Leisy spotted Vivian’s house before they even reached it. Impossible to miss, the large garden that must have once been overflowing with life had been reduced to a wilted and trampled mess of yellowing green. Vivian broke into a run ahead of her, and Leisy followed with quick steps but kept a bit of distance as the girl embraced her parents, sharing their silent sorrow. When things seemed to have been settled between them, Leisy approached to introduce herself.

“Hello,” she started, awkward. Should she offer her condolences? Attempt to try and reassure them? "I’m Leisy Takigawa, nice to meet you,” Leisy said, holding out a hand to Vivian’s parents.

Shaking their hands, Leisy sensed that they were nice people who loved Pokemon as much as she or any other Pokemon trainer would, and she knew she had to help them. “We’re going to help Vivian find your Pokemon. Would you mind telling us what happened?”

Shanae Eller

— Atana Mountain Range —

While the cold had been nearly unbearable outside, without the biting wind it was much more bearable for Shanae as she shook off what little snow had gathered on the top of her hood. “Yeesh it was cold!” Shanae said, looking down at Turris with a grin. “Let’s go then? Lead the way, my faithful Pokemon!”

Turris, in a move very like himself, planted himself down where he stood and pointed to his mouth. “Aaar,” he said, waiting patiently. Rolling her eyes, Shanae rummaged through her bag for a canister of berries. Her fingertips caught on the familiar glossy packaging, and she pulled it out and opened it before placing it on the ground before her Pokemon.

“Not all of it!” she said as Turris dug in, metal teeth grating like gears as he inhaled half the box. Shanae tugged the container away, raising a finger. “You get the rest after we find the lake.”

Turris let out a small whining noise but relented, starting up again into the cave like machinery. Shanae followed, eyes softening as she secretly pocketed a few berries before zipping the now mostly-empty box back into her bag.

Juana Perez

-Central City, Riverside-

"Alright! Let's go!" Juana replied chipperly. Bounsweet squeaked in assent.

Juana motioned for Tora to follow, and with a brisk pace walked towards the river once more, cutting across town.

Walking back along the path, Juana spotted that familiar Corphish, who had gotten into a scuffle with a gang of Krabbys, and was outnumbered. Evidently, that Krabby that Corphish was fighting earlier had friends. Who also happened to be quite cantankerous.

Three Krabbys were ganging up on the Corphish, who still had that Magical Leaf stuck in its forehead. Corphish was waving its claws belligerently at the river crabs, but the crabs started pushing the crawdad around. Corphish found itself staggering backwards into the grass, disturbing a Yungoos who gave it an annoyed glance and scampered off.

"Oh dang. Wait here, I'm gonna help that Corphish out," Juana said to Tora, before turning and dashing back to the river. "Alright, Bounsweet: Get those Krabby!"

Bounsweet glared at the crabs and jumped off Juana's shoulder, before loosing a clump of Magical Leaves at the Krabbys. The leaves homed in on the Krabbys and deterred them away from the Corphish.

As Juana ran towards the crawdad Pokémon, Bounsweet flashed a menacing look towards the Krabby gang, twisting its calyx and making a grating "CRK-KR-KR-KR" sound. Meanwhile, Juana picked up the weary Corphish, who was too worn out from battle to resist. Bounsweet gave its calyx one more twist before stumbling back over to Juana, slightly dizzied from spinning so much.

The Krabbys attempted to follow, snapping their pincers, but Bounsweet let loose one more Magical Leaf before bounding towards Juana.

Juana laid the Corphish in the grass and opened her left pouch. She produced a tin of bandages with a Hi Skitty print, and one by one applied them to anything that looked like an incision on the Corphish's body, including the crack Bounsweet had made in its forehead.

Juana then picked up the Corphish and held it in her arms.

Corphish suddenly lashed out and weakly pinched her nose.

"¡AY!" Juana yelped, more in surprise than in pain. She rubbed her nose. She then pulled out her Poké Ball and knocked Corphish on the noggin with the button. The capsule popped open, and Corphish disappeared inside. The ball rocked once, twice, a third time... *Click!*

"What? I think you two would be good for each other," Juana said, amicably looking over to Bounsweet. Bounsweet shrugged. Whatever floats its trainer's boat, it supposed.

Juana checked her Pokédex.

"Corphish, the Ruffian Pokémon.

"Corphish catches prey with its sharp claws. It has no likes or dislikes when it comes to food-it will eat anything. This Pokémon has no trouble living in filthy water,"
the Pokédex read. "Ability: Hyper Cutter. Nature: Brave. Proud of its power. Moves: Vice Grip, Bubble, Harden, Leer."

"Ruffian Pokémon, eh?" Juana remarked. "That would explain a lot." She shut the Pokédex and pressed the button on the Poké Ball. Corphish popped out on the ground and let out a weak frothing noise.

“Maybe I should carry you,” Juana remarked, picking up Corphish. She shrugged one shoulder, gesturing for Bounsweet to hop on, and hop on Bounsweet did. Corphish and Bounsweet locked eyes, and Bounsweet playfully stuck its tongue out at Corphish.

Corphish proceeded to start thrashing as if it were saying ”FFSSSHGHHFJKGLKSJKJLKFJLKGHLSJLKFJLKJGLKHFLKJLKJGF”, flailing like a child.

“Hey, hey, calm down! Calm down!” Juana urged the Corphish, before muttering to herself, “¡Ay, está mucho enojado!”

Juana walked back up to Tora and grinned. "Sorry 'bout that! Back at school I used to be bullied a lot, so I couldn't stand around and watch it happen to someone else." She patted Corphish on the horns. "Hey, by any chance, do you know how to, like, take care of Pokémon? Is that one of the things you learned on your folks' farm?" Juana asked.

Shanae Eller

— Atana Mountain Range —

The cavern was dark and chilly, and sound echoed eerily inside. However, the sound of Turris’ feet touching the stone floor—metal against hard rock—rapped out a comforting beat that was echoed by Shanae’s footsteps as heavy snow boots hit the same floor in solid thuds.

Inside the cave, Shanae’s half-covered flashlight provided adequate lighting for the woman’s journey. There was no need to see beyond where the light ended, after all—the most shining the light around wildly would do is alert some Pokemon of her presence.

As there were many caves and caverns alike scattered across the ranges, Shanae didn’t expect to meet anyone inside this particular cavern. Sure it was on the main peak, Mt. Atana, and sure it was pretty deep as far as she could remember, but there was no way this was the deepest or most obvious cavern. No, this one was much more hidden and was more easily found by falling in front of than by spotting with eyes.

Turris’ steps slowed a little before coming to a stop, and Shanae slowed to a stop behind him, muscles tense as her hand automatically fell to the Pokeballs at her belt. There was no telling what usually inhabited the cavern. Having only been here once, Shanae had only native lore and field guide descriptions to fill in her thoughts and fuel her imagination. A lone Snorunt or the like she could handle, but come a Shelgon or perhaps even its evolution and Shanae might as well give up here and now.

Except, Shanae thought, hands closing around the Pokeball of an exceptionally pink and fluffy Pokemon, I’m no longer that beginner-rank trainer that fell on her ass finding this place.

Her eyes peered through the darkness, narrowed and ready.

Azerus Jr

Feyhollow poke'center

As Azerus stood in the Pokemon center he tried to contemplate and reflect on the battle, but it was so short lived that it didn't offer much learning. His Pokemon needed to get tougher, he needed to get tougher, that's all there was.

After handing his two pokeballs over to the nurse and while his Pokemon healed, Azerus decided that he had to go somewhere with tougher conditions and a harsher climate. Somewhere he could train and harden his Pokemon pushing them to new limits. Somewhere he could find powerful pokemon that were not little bug or fairy types. He had enough of this back water town already but first he needed supplies.

He released his Pokemon as soon as he stepped foot outside. He vowed to spend more time with, mimicking his rivals methods. No sooner had had he released them with a brilliant flash of red, did he look back up to find himself standing face to face with the woman who bettered him just a moment ago.

Startled and shocked his eyes went wide and his tongue fumbled in his mouth failing to find any words. He just stood there dumbfound for a moment not realising he was blocking the door.
