The People's Republic China is currently involved in anti-pirate operations in the Gulf of Aden and the Persian Gulf, sending five Frigates and two Destroyers to aid in the defense of shipping lanes. Currently twelve Chinese officers are stationed in Tajikistan and Pakistan, aiding in political stability and training Tajikistan Armed Forces for defense of their borders in the event of spill over from Afghanistan. China is also one of the largest financial aid providers to Afghanistan, investing in Copper Mines and Road Production, building friendly relations with the Afghans (making them less likely for attacks from insurgents).

Relations with NATO is currently shaky, though, due to their position as a world-leading producer, NATO is forced to keep relations with the People's Republic. Human Rights issues are in the forefront of their world relations and they are currently ignoring UN Sanctions, investing heavily in Africa where they have 500 troops aiding in the building of infrastructure and economic growth.

I just took China's current numbers and corrected them for error using 2001 population. I'm a little generous with the military numbers, but the labour forces and purchasing power are a little under what they would have been. Just do some math and wing it, bro.

Current situation: Great things are expected of President Fox, seeing how he has broken the hegemony of the PRI, as a memeber of the PAN, that has held the leadership of the country for around 70 years, although there's accusations of him rising to power through corrupt funding. When the lockdown of the US after the terrorist attacks that took place there, the drug trade found it more difficult to smuggle its products over the border. The rise of violence between the warring drug cartels continues, endangering much of the country and its people. The EZLN continues struggling, although with a lack of violence on its actions, finding itself in the state of Chiapas. Aside from that, Fox holds a view towards the free market and globalization and finds attempts to preserve the ties to strong ties to the US, such as the NAFTA Treaty.
