Name: Jarod Reiken
Nicknames/Aliases: ‘Zaps,’ ‘J-Rock’
X-Men Code Name: ‘Charge’Gender: Male
Age: 24
Physical Description: Cut, lean athletic build. Pale skin. Dark hair - contemporary styling. Distinct jaw and cheek lines, sharp eyes...big smile.
Mutations: Hyper electric discharge. Every human has a miniscule amount of electricity naturally coursing through their body to ‘power’ organs to do their job. Jarod’s goes into overdrive and grants him several anomalic traits. The most apparent is the dispersion of said electric energy. The protoplasm in his cells is infused with it, so with mental discipline, expelling and dispersing that energy can create numerous desired effects, i.e. arced bolts of electricity, channeled bursts of static energy able to propel or push him/others away, or levitate a certain degree. He can overuse this dispersion to the point of exhaustion, as it’s the same electrical current that flows naturally through any human, just amplified; however he can also ‘recharge’ faster by coming in direct contact with batteries, wires, transformers, charged metal surfaces, etc. It also aids in slightly faster healing and regeneration. Nothing like Wolverine or Deadpool, but what can take weeks for a normal person to heal, it would take a day or two for Jarod. The extra energy also allows him to run nearly as fast as a vehicle, but only just. Nothing supersonic, but more than enough to distinguish him from the normal populace.
Personality: Jarod, despite his narrow and dark features, can be cordial and jovial, light hearted. Quite the charmer, and a bit of a geek. He’s compliant, trusting (to a fault at times), and is a perfectionist. He’s a bit religious as well, albeit unorthodox at times. He believes in God and Jesus but doesn’t talk about it incessantly. Carrying a big heart, he often misjudges opportunists for who they are until it’s too late, and his lack of discernment when it comes to using his powers can get him into easy trouble. He’s had to relocate once or twice.
Background: Grew up in a conservative family, put into private school, and loves science fiction. Every once in while, he’ll pray when he’s feeling incredibly burdened, or sad, but with age and time, those times seem to dwindle. He doesn’t know why.
Mutation Discovery: He was 19. He hated being confronted in any physical altercation. He could take a hit, he just hated giving them. His old high school rival took advantage of this. Finding him alone on a causeway over the local district’s powergrid (for some reason, Jarod just ‘felt’ better at that particular spot. The view over the city lights at night entirely hid the real reason for his being drawn there.), he poked and pushed Jarod, who was cornered. But when Jarod finally pushed back in bolstered frustration, a burst of electric energy shot from his hands and surged directly into his assailant’s body, sending him into the hospital, almost killing him. No one else was there to witness the incident, thankfully.
