@Prawn I mean, PUBG was okay to me, made for a hilarious experience when I lasted all of two minutes before getting jumped, but Fortnite was just not my cup of tea, I guess.

@HeroThat's fair, I admit that I never played PUBG. My only experience with those games was Fortnite and that was enough for me. Played it, enjoyed it for what it was but I think it and games like it are overrated. Makes me glad that Radical Heights was shut down, was obnoxious seeing it streamed just about everywhere and it looked and played like trash.

The big thing Fortnite and The Darwin Project have over PUBG is optimization and smoothness of play. Also far less Chinese hackers. I don't mind the "genre" of games, but I grow tired when there seems to be only one tactic to reach victory. Boring.

@Inkarnate True. Again, it was a good experience but I'll admit I haven't touched the game since trying it.

Overrated: Fortnite

I just couldn't get into it, I bought into the hype train and was just disappointed.

Hot Take: The actual PvE part of Fortnite is immediately more appealing and it sucks that it's just gonna be a battle arena game forever now.

You're probably right, I may have made the mistake of only trying the PVP part, but I digress.

I'm hyped for the PvE aspect of Fortnite, it sounds infinitely more enjoyable than the PvP mode.

My friend plays that aspect and says it's infinitely better, which honestly isn't a surprise since that was what Fortnite was advertised as before this Battle Royale trend happened.

That's good enough for me, I much prefer a fun co-operative PvE game rather than PvP these days. Overwatch competitive has taught me that valuable lesson. People seem far friendlier in PvE too, in fact I can't ever recall a time when I had an adverse experience with co-operative play. But that goes without saying really since people need to work together.

Competitive is the zone of professional gamers or people who don't work for a living.

Hah, truer words were never spoken. I'm between jobs at the moment so I kind of fit into that demographic, unfortunately!

Honestly, at this point that sounds like a hell of a better alternative than Overwatch.

Yet somehow I still play competitive Overwatch when the fancy suits me. Always get paired with idiots, though.

Story of my life with that game. It's like I get to around 2400 SR and then the game decides 'That's it, you're done getting any higher' and then it's a gradual decline. The issue doesn't so much lie with a lack of skill but a lack of communication, and people being too stubborn to switch off characters that aren't working.

Bought Overwatch, found out I couldn't play it with my OS. Even WoW is upgrading to 64bit, so I'm screwed until I can get a new laptop.

Still looks fun though from what I've seen of others playing the game. Will likely play it after upgrading alongside renewing my WoW sub.

But have you had to yell at someone who won't get out of the fire?

I find PvE far friendlier like you do, but both PvE and PvP are still toxic piles of game mechanics in the end. Whereas you have people trash talking/trying to roast you in an edgy tone/teabagging you for outplaying you in PvP, I've seen and heard people screech like a pterodactyl for someone not knowing mechanics or having awful gear in PvE. It's just PvE tends to have less of the toxicity compared to PvP.

This is the part where you're going to hate me. I main as a ret paladin (Alliance, human because I wanted to be Tirion Fordring) in WoW and more often than not I avoid one-hit kill mechanics (like the Iron Reaver's 'Blitz' charge attack in HFC) with Divine Intervention. I'll stay in, get the damage in and take that free immunity bubble, even though it pissed off the raid leader. But you're right, as someone who used to do mythic progression raiding, PvE can be just as horrendous when it comes to toxicity, especially if you're running with PUGs. LFR is notorious for this too, and any kind of LFG content since there's no consequence for being a toxic player.

Back in the days of The Burning Crusade, you had to actually go out and meet up with other players out in the world, group up, form friendships and run dungeon content together. That's how a lot of guilds were formed, including my own. If you were a shitty person, you developed a reputation and that actually made it difficult for you to find dungeon content. Nowadays with LFG, there is no consequence. Just get kicked, hit the queue button and you're back in within fifteen minutes or so, even shorter if you're a healer or tank.

Teabagging is silly though, I agree. It's like, come on, how old are you? Thirteen?

Not to sidetrack the conversation, but I'd like to say I'm rather disappointed with the new "Battlefield V" trailer. I've been waiting for a remastered 1942 for years, and this... this just looks awful. Not that the graphics aren't stunning, but I struggle to think of what in the world was Dice/EA thinking when they decided to release this trailer to the public.
